60 Favorite New-to-Me Albums in 2022:
i put these into 3 unordered, chronological groups. i also cheated a bit because there are like 64 here. this was pretty tough. i’ve listened to a little over 200 albums for the first time this year, and there’s a lot of stuff that i really dug, albums i’d buy in a heartbeat, that aren’t on here (hell, i bought one of the miles davis records i heard for the first time this year & it’s not on here!). a handful that didn’t make it are likely to become all-timers as well (specifically a handful of jazz records i only got to once). hell, a lot of these have quickly become all-time favorites & feel like they’ve been in my life for many years. i already own 20 of these 60, 6 of those 20 are from my 10 favorites, and all 20 get regular rotation at home.
i didn’t count 2022 albums, which in hindsight is silly; i’ve only heard like 15 2022 albums; the smile and angel olsen would’ve been the ones on here.
