“In the early stages of planning, we decided on going with a castle and vampires motifs,” says Tomonori Takano, Village’s Art Director, in a recent interview with IGN. “However, we did not want to be constrained by how vampires have been portrayed in various forms of popular entertainment.” Takano began with the concept of a “bewitching vampire,” and says they drew inspiration from figures like famed 16th-century Hungarian noblewoman and serial killer Elizabeth Báthory, the Japanese urban legend Hashaku-sama, and Anjelica Huston’s Morticia Addams.

Most recently, Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters have received a fair amount of attention, far more than we anticipated. It’s great that they're able to take the spotlight as icons of Resident Evil Village. Lady Dimitrescu, especially, has received much fanfare both domestically and overseas, which has made all of us in the development team extremely happy. I hear her height is something of interest. If you include her hat and high heels, she’s 2.9m (approximately 9’6”) tall.  Art director Tomonori Takano was responsible for Lady Dimitrescu’s design, he previously announced her height 9’6” (2.9 meters) includes her high heels and wide-brimmed hat. She still easily beats the height of any human alive, and her shoe size is 44 cm (17.3 inches) which is almost double the average women’s shoe size. Also,she isn’t just a tall vampire-like dominant woman, her fashion was inspired by styles from the 1960s, and Takano hopes that this will differentiate her from other gothic villains. About her 3 beloved daughters : “Bela”, the oldest daughter, is quiet and has a strong head on her shoulders. “Cassandra” is a sadist who enjoys killing. “Daniela” is the youngest daughter, and is the craziest and most delusional of the 3. Ethan has a family he is trying to protect, so they wanted to have a family for Lady Dimitrescu as well, to provide a contrast.
