Unconscious after a car accident, university student Chun Yu and her best friend Qing You mysteriously find themselves inside the dangerous world of a VR game. Several other people have also unwittingly ended up here, and they soon discover they were all involved in the accident - except for substitute teacher Gao Xuan, who claims to have simply fallen asleep. Seeing no other option than to play the game, they eventually beat the level and wake up … only to immediately return the next night.

Faced with deadly monsters, puzzles, and mind games, the players have to learn to cooperate despite being unsure if they can trust each other. The pressure increases when it turns out that people who die in the game fall into a coma in real life. And then several more students are dragged into the game! The group spends their nights trying to survive the next level and their days investigating who is doing this to them and why. As they grow closer, friendships and budding romances are repeatedly put to the test by the stress of the situation and the evil machinations of the people behind the game…

Actually Interesting

This drama was all over my Douyin FYP when it was showing. Imagine seeing people in modern-day clothes, in a slightly olden-day setting running from what seemed like zombies. Tell me that wouldn't pique your interest. Okay, maybe it wouldn't but it piqued mine. However, apart from that snippet, I went into this drama not knowing anything. Hell, I didn't even know who were the actors.

Anyhow. The premise of 19th Floor is not a new concept. It's the classic 'real life people entering a game with high stakes' plot. What was new was that them entering the game was not obvious initially. The how they entered was a mystery until quite a few episodes in too. Additionally, the games were different. Each time they entered it, the game, the rules and even the stakes were different.

Initially, this was an extremely fascinating drama. I was hooked and went through episodes like I had no other responsibilities. However, as the cast went on and began discovering the secrets and motives, the drama honestly, got predictable. In my opinion, 19th Floor could have had a darker tone to it. Keep the storyline but make things darker, bring in the 'unreliable narrator' trope, make the high stakes actually high stakes as in, more deaths or consequences that cannot be undone. You see, the beginning of this drama was action-filled but the end, not so much.

Don't get me wrong, 19th Floor is still interesting but it could have been way more interesting, considering the actual story from where this drama was adapted from? Yeah, 19th Floor could have done more.

to answer your question, i really liked mansuang!

i've only watched it once till now (at a discord watch party) so i'll be able to fully appreciate it when i watch it again several times hehhehehehe (real life has been very hectic sigh)

it was tong who stole the show for me...his acting is BRILLIANT and he looks exquisite and OWNS every scene he's in...from the eccentric tankhun in kpts to the poised hong in mansuang i'm in AWE of tong's range....the way hong (tong;s character in the film) navigates the politics, the mystery and the lies around him...and comes into his own being in the film is noteworthy

apo's character khem JUST CANNOT CATCH A BREAK OMG POOR BABY....i think khem easily would have the maximum screentime in the film (but don't quote me on that lol) and it's through khem's life and challenges and exploitation that we get to understand the socio-political climate of that era in thailand so he IS the carrier of the film's plot and what the film on the whole tried to achieve (present the thai culture of that period to the rest of the world through an intriguing plot and really fucking pretty clothes and people)....apo in those dance costumes and make-up is a SIGHT TO BEHOLD....man they did not cut corners in that department lol...it's apo's film...there's no doubt about it

as a mile enthusiast i was a little disappointed coz i felt that there's not enough of my man in the film lol...and whenever he is onscreen, he's generally sharing the space with others...and in a way where he is not the centre of attention...but otherwise i loved his character and his acting...tbh i was VERY impressed with mile in kpts so i was hoping he could show more of his acting prowess here too (which would have required more screentime for him)...however i understand that 1. this is a film, not a series 2. mile is not playing the main character and 3. the fact that he doesn't draw attention to himself too much IS part of good acting in this case heheheehee

bas was great! his character's trauma and his portrayal of that is commendable...sad about the ending though...but i understand his motivations and that he was processing the current ongoing through the lens of his personal trauma so he was bound to make some decisions (tm) which led to the outcome....bas as wan was truly a revelation

special shoutout to all the baddies in the film....they were truly despicable....great job

so ya...overall a good rating from me for mansuang!

I do have a few if you must know:

 In the first few months after the Druuns, Raya would have the worse case of repressed anger. Sometimes she's conscious of it, sometimes she isn't. She has forgiven Namaari, no doubt. But a deeper part of her feels unresolved and she's entirely not sure why. Coz she knows Namaari doesn't need anymore reminding, she does it enough to herself when she tends to close off. Unfortunately, it takes Raya to snap at her one night, maybe Namaari trying to tell her something small, like she doesnt need to sus everyone out before eating their food. But Raya just snaps saying something like, "why do you think I have trust issues" And it just spirals from that, Namaari realizing the reality that they cant fully heal magically within a few weeks. So she apologizes and does everything to atone for her mistakes. Tells Raya to call her out on anything she does wrong. Raya just feels bad coz she doesnt entirely mean it so she breaks down and let's it all out of her chest to Namaari.

I think Namaari would start having a hard time agreeing to some of her Mother's orders after Kumandra is rebuilt. Since it was obvious from the movie, the hesitance Virana had if people came back. So maybe she would try to be sly and pull something again but Namaari holds her ground and says no, maybe threatening to expose her. She wants the peace to stay. And it's not just Fang they have to worry about anymore. She explains to her Mother that she does love their tribe, their people and culture but they are part of Kumandra now and they should start sharing that and expand their horizons further.

Raya internally struggles more with a strong feeling of envy inside her. There are times when it will catch her off guard, completely having unintentional bitter thoughts about everything. For example, she stares at the children of the ages of twelve and above leisurely running around in Heart’s main garden as she thinks back to the innocence that was wiped from her childhood, how these children now had nothing to worry about now. And the fact that she missed on properly making friends her age.  What she hates the most is how she finds herself being jealous of Namaari’s ability to socialize in formal events, or holding her own during meetings, or having a deep knowledge of Fang and having that sense of trust her own tribe has for her. Meanwhile, her own people in Heart doesn’t recognize her as much and is a bit hesitant on fully trusting their princess. Or when Boun or Tong ask her more about Heart and she can’t answer them fully because she just doesn’t know anymore. There’s also this guilt with a mixture of jealousy she gets when her own palace staff is welcoming to her Ba but gets shocked and flustered seeing her all so grown up, not used to her presence. So she tries to stray away from bothering them too much, insisting she can do things for herself.  The jealousy just keeps her up at night, not sure what to do with herself and how to control the bitterness in her heart.

Raya would just have the worse case of social anxiety in big events or their social gatherings sometimes when people start bombarding her with questions about meeting Sisu and person details of her six years of being alone. Or questions about what she was gonna do now that she’s back being a proper princess of Heart. Everything would start being overwhelming. At first, she would try to hide it from everyone till she finds the window of opportunity to escape. And just hide out in a rooftop or the old dragon gem emporium. She just sits there and basks at the lit up flowers, calming her heartrate down, trying to ignore the hurt and worried look her Ba wore before she quickly excused herself running away from the situation. But Namaari would find her eventually, noticing the pattern and her longing for the other princess prevents her from being away for too long. So, she goes into a search one night they’re in Heart and finds the princess with her head tucked in between her bent knees in the middle of former dragon gem cave. She would just wordlessly sit beside her, waiting for the princess to open up in her own terms.  Raya would eventually give in melt in between the warrior’s arms, sometimes letting out a quiet sob or just letting her anxiety melt away from the heavy pressure on her shoulders. Namaari swears from the day onwards, she would stay by the princess’ side every chance she gets so she can lead her way when things get too much.

Post-war

The Gaang, the Mean Girls (Azula got therapy and is ~Okay~), and a few Kyoshi Warriors are in a market Shopping and Browsing and just generally having Some fun. Sokka hears someone comment on one of his Friends. Maybe they said Azula was evil. Maybe they said Zuko was a bad Firelord. Maybe they were Asking why there were Earth Kingdom warriors protecting Fire. Maybe they were talking bad about Aang, or saying Katara was fragile and shouldn't have even Fought in the War. Whatever is Said, Sokka hears it. And Sokka gets Mad.

He tracks that Person down, like a hecking Sonar or Bloodhound. Then he stands in front of them, one Hand on his hip, the other Hand waving his Boomerang in front of the Person's face.

He starts ranting. On and on about the various accomplishments of the insulted member and every single way they had been good or tried to be good. The Person tries to Fight back.

For Zuko, Azula, Ty Lee, or Mai:

"They did horrible things!"

For Aang, Katara, or Suki and the Kyoshi Warriors:

"They shouldn't have been fighting! They're children/neutral!"

Sokka tears them a new One.

Fire Nation: "That's the past! Now, they've made great strides in doing good! All of them are Traumatized from young ages and are attempting Recovery! How dare you ignore their Effort for their Past that they're Making up for!"

Other: "Yeah, they shouldn't have! They shouldn't have had to fight when they were so young, and just wanted to protect their families, their homes! They had no obligation to fight in the war, and yet they played the biggest, most difficult roles!”

Sokka proceeds to continue this for a good amount of Time. It draws The attention of everyone Near, and some Far. He Shoots down any Interruptions from the Person, and makes both an aggressive and irrefutable Argument. At the end, this happens.

Sokka: *In the Person’s face* *Rage-filled* “So don’t you ever insult them again, or I’ll sick Toph on you!”

Person Nearby Who Was Not An Idiot: “If they did all that, then what in the world did you do?”

Sokka: *visibly becomes calm, cool, collected in an instant* *turns to new Person with a happy smile and absolutely No Rage left* “I witnessed it all.”

Sokka walks off. People think that might be the end. Then it is Collectively realized that only One Kyoshi Warrior left with Sokka. The Others wait for the boy to disappear from sight before they turn to The Nice Person.

Katara: “He’s a skilled swordsman.”

Suki: “He’s a Kyoshi Warrior.”

Aang: “He knows the fighting styles of every Nation.”

Zuko: “His Boomerang is deadly.”

Toph: “He invented submarines.”

Zuko: “He invented airships.”

Katara: “He dated the Moon.”

Aang: “He entered the Spirit World for an entire day.”

Toph: “He’s friends with a sabertoothmooselion.”

Katara: “He’s been Chief of the Southern Water Tribe since he was a preteen.”

Suki: “He’s one of the few people on our team that can read a map and a compass.”

Ty Lee: “His schedules are legendary.”

Azula: “He came up with two different plans to escape the Boiling Rock prison, and the only reason the first failed was because he wasn’t participating.”

Zuko: “He’s a junior member of the Order of the White Lotus.”

Mai: “He can beat almost anyone in Pai Sho and he just learned to play last month.”

Katara: “He’s the only reason we got from the South Pole to the North Pole.”

Aang: “He’s the only reason we got anywhere at all.”

Toph: “He’s our surrogate father figure for when we had none.”

Suki: “He’s friends with King Kuei, King Bumi, and Chief Arnook.”

Mai: “He made friends with a lot of really powerful people because he’s persistent.”

Azula: “He’s a nonbender and can still beat most benders in a battle.”

Suki: “He was critical in bringing down the airships on the day of Sozin’s Comet, and therefore saving a large amount of the Earth Kingdom.”

Katara: “He once saved an entire Fire Nation colony on his own.”

Aang: “He befriended some badgermoles.”

Ty Lee: “His sarcasm is listed as a weapon in the official index.”

Katara: “He found Wan Shi Tong’s Library after searching for less than a day.”

Aang: “He’s had Spirits speak directly to him.”

Azula: “He figured out how to bring down the drill that attempted to breach Ba Sing Se’s walls.”

They state the rest of his accomplishments as Matter-of-factly as possible, then turn and leave That entire section of the Market in utter Confuzzlement and awe. The one Dude who was so protective and Smort and provided an actual Backed up Argument to fight Someone, who walked off and acted as though he Wasn’t much and Nothing had Happened, has done Alout. Like, submarines? Airships? He’s a Chief? And he acts like his greatest accomplishment was being a witness?

1-8.1 衙门师爷 . 故事 酒过三巡, 却突生变故。 众人商量着如何应对之肘, 有人主动提出要帮我们洗清冤屈, 他是-- 1-8.1 Yámén shīyé. Gùshì jiǔguò sān xún, què tū shēng biàngù. Zhòngrén shāngliángzhe rúhé yìngduì zhī zhǒu, yǒurén zhǔdòng tíchū yào bāng wǒmen xǐ qīng yuānqū, tā shì-- 1-8.1 Yamen private advisor. Story After three rounds of drinks, there’s a sudden misfortune. While everyone is discussing what to do, someone offered to help us clean up our grievances. He is--

[Narration] 音乐响起， 鸡茸金丝笋事先排演好的上菜队列从大厅两侧鱼贯而入。 姑娘们裙摆艳丽,  笑意甜美, 客人们心情格外舒畅。 Yīnyuè xiǎngqǐ, jī rōng jīn sī sǔn shìxiān páiyǎn hǎo de shàng cài duìliè cóng dàtīng liǎng cè yúguàn ér rù. Gūniángmen qún bǎi yànlì,  xiào yì tiánměi, kèrénmen xīnqíng géwài shūchàng. The music sounded, Ji Rong Jin Si Sun’s well-rehearsed serving formation walks in a line from both sides of the hall. The young women’s gorgeous skirts, sweet smiles, the mood of the guests are especially free of worry.

[Narration] 佛跳墙, 鸡茸金丝笋这两道聚春苑招牌菜先打头阵。 紧接着, 是荔枝肉, 五柳居, 白雪鸡, 醉排骨, 鼎边糊… Fútiàoqiáng, jī rōng jīn sī sǔn zhè liǎng dào jù chūn yuàn zhāopái cài xiān dǎtóuzhèn. Jǐn jiēzhe, shì lìzhī ròu, wǔ liǔ jū, báixuě jī, zuì páigǔ, dǐng biān hú… Fo Tiao Qiang, Ji Rong Jin Si Sun, these two known signature dish of Ju Chun Yuan takes the lead Following in turn, is Li Zhi Rou (Lychee pork), Wu Liu Ju (Five-willow Fish), Bai Xue Ji (White Snow Chicken), Zui Pai Gu (Drunken pork ribs), Ding Bian Hu(Wok-edge paste)…

[侍卫乙]  Shìwèi yǐ (Bodyguard Yi) 大事不好啦! 大, 大人他, 他上吐下泻， 现在晕过去啦! Dàshì bù hǎo la! Dà, dàrén tā, tā shàng tǔ xiàxiè, xiànzài yūn guòqù la! Bad news! Ma, Master, he, he vomited and had diarrhoea, now he had just fainted!

((A small note. The 甲(Jia) and 乙(Yi) are actually being used as ‘person 1′ and ‘person 2′, or ‘person A’ and ‘person B’, but with the ten Chinese heavenly stems. I didn’t want to put Bodyguard A and B because it might confuse people why Jia and Yi suddenly became A and B in translation. So I kept the actual word.))

[侍卫乙] 其他客人也相继出现了不同程度的症状， 该, 该不会是这菜, 菜有毒吧!? Qítā kèrén yě xiāngjì chū xiàn liǎo bùtóng chéngdù de zhèngzhuàng, gāi, gāi bù huì shì zhè cài, cài yǒudú ba!? The other guests are also showing different degrees of symptoms, it couldn’t be that, it couldn’t be that the dishes, the dishes have poison!?

[官兵甲]  Guānbīng jiǎ (Officer Jia) 福公， 若不是有众多达官贵人支持你, 聚春苑的人早就被关押大牢了。 Fú gōng, ruò bùshì yǒu zhòngduō dáguān guìrén zhīchí nǐ, jù chūn yuàn de rén zǎo jiù bèi guānyā dàláole. Fu Gong, if it wasn’t for the many high officials and noble persons supporting you, Ju Chun Yuan’s people would have already been locked up in prison.

[官兵甲] 唉， 说实话， 我也不相信这事儿是您干的， 谁又会自砸招牌呢。 Āi, shuō shíhuà, wǒ yě bù xiāngxìn zhè shì er shì nín gàn de, shéi yòu huì zì zá zhāopái ne. Haa, to be honest, I don't believe this situation was caused by you, who else would be willing to sabotage their own business reputation.

[佛跳墙] 多谢诸位信任， 福某定会在限定时日内将事情本末查个明白 。 Duōxiè zhūwèi xìnrèn, fú mǒu dìng huì zài xiàndìng shí rìnèi jiāng shìqíng běnmò chá gè míngbái. Many thanks for everyone’s trust, I will somehow investigate within the limited time of a few days to understand the ins and outs of this affair.

[郑春发] 可官兵们用银针查验过寿宴当晚所有的菜品 都没有检出毒药来…… Kě guānbīngmen yòng yín zhēn cháyànguò shòu yàn dàngwǎn suǒyǒu de càipǐn dōu méiyǒu jiǎn chū dúyào lái…… But the officers used a silver needle to inspect all the dishes on the evening of the birthday banquet, no poison was detected ...

[Player] 此毒非彼毒。 食物中毒是指患者所进食物被细菌或细菌毒素所污染, 又或是食物本身含有毒素而引起的急性中毒性疾病。 Cǐ dú fēi bǐ dú. Shíwù zhòngdú shì zhǐ huànzhě suǒ jìn shíwù bèi xìjùn huò xìjùn dúsù suǒ wūrǎn, yòu huò shì shíwù běnshēn hányǒu dúsù ér yǐnqǐ de jíxìng zhòng dúxìng jíbìng. This poisoning is not that kind of poison. Food poisoning is indicated by patients eating food items that have been contaminated by bacteria or bacterial toxins, or the food itself contains poison that leads to acute poisonous ailment.

[郑春发] 细细细菌? 毒毒毒素? 你是说……有毒的蘑菇? Xì xì xìjùn? Dú dú dúsù? Nǐ shì shuō……yǒudú dí mógū? B-B-Bacteria? P-P-Poisoning? You mean to say....there are toxic mushrooms?

[Player] ……总, 总之我们没有在菜里下毒就是了! ……Zǒng, zǒngzhī wǒmen méiyǒu zài cài lǐ xià dú jiùshìle! ...In, In short, we did not put poison the dishes!

[Player] 只是我一向很注意食材与后厨的卫生， 怎会发生食物中毒这种事…… Zhǐshì wǒ yīxiàng hěn zhùyì shícái yǔ hòu chú de wèishēng, zěn huì fāshēng shíwù zhòngdú zhè zhǒng shì…… It's just that I always pay very close attention to the hygiene of food ingredients and the back kitchen, how could this situation of food poisoning happen...

((It is at this point that 于 and 于某 makes no sense to me. I can’t tell if they’re using it as a Surname, refering to themself in a certain manner, or being used as a word for the sentence. Let me know if anyone knows the correct use of this when it comes to Tai Chi Taro’s use))

So grateful for my friends who help me with our wedding details. I have literally 3 best friends whom I consult most of the time. They help me keep my sanity through all the preparations and details.

*sa totoo lang, except for my friends ... wala ng ibang tumutulong sa kasal .. well, except for my dad who gave us financial help and my sister who gives us advice regarding the wedding preps. Pero as far as other people, lalo na sa side ni groom, wala manlang nagtatanong kung kumusta kami or kung kailangan ba namin ng tulong. Naaawa na nga ako sa groom ko e, kasi solo nya yung gastos. Super stressed na siya, kaya kahit labag sa loob ko yung mga tambay-tambay niya with his tropa ... pinagbibigyan ko na kasi stress-reliever din, panget naman yung puro trabaho lagi iniisip. Kahit naman hindi financial help, kahit manlang sana kumustahin siya, or maging excited sa kasal ganun .. kaso ewan .. siguro .. excited sila .. pero di lang ramdam .. baka pag malapit na, or baka next year ma excite na sila! hahahaha! Isang couple lang yung super excited for us sa side niya, si Tita Lalay at Tito Isang ... na lagi kami kinukumusta at super excited para sa aming dalawa. Yung iba .. ewan! Parang feeling ko naiwan kami sa ere ganun, pero feeling ko lang naman yun! hehehehe . . . parang dahil ako yung papakasalan niya, siguro akala nila madami akong pera! HAHAHAHAHA .. di nila alam struggle din kami dito kasi wala naman talaga kaming stable income ... honorarium lang. Kung ano yung meron, kung meron sobra, yun lang yung sa amin. Pero God is good kasi hindi man sobra-sobra yung meron kami, pero sapat pa din para sa everyday needs namin. Pero ang saklap lang talaga na walang tumutulong. Buti na lang may mga kaibigan ako na anytime pwede ko sila istorbohin if may mga gumugulo sa utak ko. Anytime pwede sila i-chat, pwede sila yayain, pwede sila kausapin para maibsan naman yung iniisip namin .. kasi sa totoo lang, ang hirap! Kung alam ko lang na ganito, hindi na sana binonggahan ng husto .. same venue, same details pero para sa mga taong nandun lang talaga para sa amin, kaso hindi naman pwedeng  ganun. Parang ang saklap, na rewardan pa yung mga tao na hindi naman talaga todo suporta at di ko masyado ka-close! HAHAHAHA .. pero syempre pag dating ng wedding day, lahat enjoy .. so ok na yun! HAHAHAHAHA .. Sabi din ni groom, regalo na namin sa sarili namin kasi nga ang dami namin pinagdaanan, ang tagal namin nagtago, matagal namin to pinangarap kaya wala naman siguro masama na i-todo yung celebration. (and the fact na mahilig kasi sya sa party! hahahaha) Pero I agree with him, kasi minsan lang naman to, hindi naman na mauulit, hindi din naman kami magarbo gumastos yearly. Hindi kami super oa kapag anniversary namin, low key lang ... spa na nga lang masaya na kami e, ya know, titos and titas na! HAHAHAHA! Nagrarant lang ako, na naman! Kasi stressed na ko! Lalo na ngayon, simula na ng bayaran .. hello reality na! Yung ineexpect kasi namin dapat na budget, mejo nagka-aberya ... pero ok lang naman .. kahit unti-unti nababayaran namin yung mga kelangan bayaran. Basta ang usapan namin, 50-50 kami sa lahat ng gastos, pero minsan, sumosobra siya sa bigay. Basta kapag meron siya, binibigay niya agad para sa mga down payments, reservation fees .. etc. Todo kayod kami ngayon, mahirap! Sobra! Parang sasabog na yung utak namin! Pag titingnan ko yung budget namin pati yung kelangan bayaran parang, minsan sabi ko sa kanya, ano wag na? Jollibee na lang? HAHAHAHA ... Pero ganung talaga ..  If you really want something, you gotta work hard for it, you gotta earn it! Bakit ganon? Kasi mas worthwhile kapag pinagpaguran! Mas ma appreciate mo yung kung anong meron ka kapag pinaghihirapan. Alam ko, in the end, makakahinga kami ng maluwag, kasi fruit talaga ng labor namin, labor of love ‘tong kasal namin! At alam ko naman na hindi kami pababayaan ni Lord. He’s the ultimate source and we thank Him everyday sa favor at blessings na binibigay niya sa amin. Tulad nga ng lagi ko sinasabi, kapag madali ... hindi masaya, walang thrill. Kapag walang hirap, walang appreciation. Kapag petix lang, hindi worthwhile! Itong phase na ito, itong pinagdadaanan namin, alam ko may gusto ituro si Lord sa amin. I’m just happy kasi kahit mahirap, he’s in it with me. Pareho kami nahihirapan, may part sya, may part din ako! And again, I am super grateful for my friends; Kat, Kimi & Choi  ... for always being there for us when we need them the most. Hindi nila alam sobrang naappreciate ko bawat suggestions nila. My friends are brutally honest and that’s what I want and need. Kasi ayoko talaga nung paligoy-ligoy pa, mas madami ma-achieve kapag straight to the point! If they don’t want something, sasabihin nila agad sa kin, and ang maganda kasi dun, pare-pareho kami ng trip, pare-pareho kami ng taste ... nagkaka intindihan kami kahit puro “kwan” at “ano” lang yung sinasabi namin! HAHAHAHAHAHA! Alam ko, pagdating ng kasal, iiyak din sila ... ahahahaha .. kasi parte sila ng hirap at pagod! And I just pray everyday that God would continue to bless them, sa kahit ano man aspect ng buhay nila. Praying for favor and kung ano man yung deepest desire ng puso nila, I pray na tugunin ni Lord yun. And sana, pagdating ng panahon, I could return the favor to them, kahit in the smallest things lang. Hindi ko talaga alam gagawin ko kung wala yung input nila, I trust their judgment. Hindi ko na pwedeng guluhin pa si groom .. kasi ayoko na problemahin pa nya yun dahil sumasakit na daw ulo niya kada sasabihin pa na “bayad” at “gastos!” HAHAHAHHAA

Ok lang kahit 3 lang yung kaibigan ko .. they are more than enough! Thank You, Lord for the gift of friendship!
