Tonsil Troubles pt 2
Pairings: Reader x Weems x Thornhill (Platonic)
Word count: 1.3K
Summary: reader is looked after following her surgery in part one.
TW: mentions of surgery, hospitals, medicine
A/n sorry for the time this took I messed up my finger, so it was difficult to write but I figured it out … kinda. Basically, I’m just typing minus one finger cuz it’s bandaged lol.
It was safe to say you had been sleeping for a while. Nurses had come and gone while you slept. Checking vitals and monitoring you closely before they decided to let you go.
You were dozing lightly when a nurse came and asked for Weems by name to discuss some details about your release. Weems stood and followed the nurse outside into the hall while Thornhill sat with you holding your hand in hers.
“Well, we are happy to say that Miss L/n is looking well enough to be taken home. We will provide you some information of how to look after her. The first 24 hours after anaesthesia requires monitoring and attentive care.”
“Thank you very much. I’ll be sure to keep an eye on her.”
“You’re very welcome. You’ll just need to sign the discharge papers as her parents and then you and your wife can take your daughter home.” The nurse smiled.
“Um… she’s not my-“ but the nurse was gone, leaving Weems with a slight pink tint to her cheeks.
After the papers were signed the nurse came back into your room in the recovery ward with a wheelchair. Marilyn raised an eyebrow.
“Will she need that?” The botanist said eyeing the wheelchair oddly and with a confused look.
“Well, she probably won’t be too stable on her feet for a while, so she’ll be needing some extra help for a bit. It’s a common side effects of the surgery drugs.” The nurse explained and Thornhill nodded and thanked her.
Weems watched the interaction with a small smile. The nurse turned to them and looked mildly sheepish.
“Would one of you be willing to help get her into the wheelchair?”
“Sure.” Weems said and came to your bedside. She pulled back the warm sheets and gently slipped her soft arms under you to lift you into the chair.
After she made sure you were settled comfortably and were still asleep, she motioned for Thornhill to push you. The nurse smiled a coy smile that made Weems blush again slightly.
Once they made it out the front door the nurse turned to Weems.
“So, I’ve written down some instructions for you and be sure to return the wheelchair once shes in your car.”
Weems thanked the nurse and made her way behind thornhill to the car. Once Weems carefully lifted you into the backseat and by some small miracle you stayed asleep. Weems shut the door and went round to the other side of the backseat to get herself and you situated for the ride while Thornhill returned the wheelchair to the front desk.
They made it almost halfway back to nevermore before you began to wake up slowly. Weems watched you carefully as you came around.
She brought a hand to your cheek as your brow furrowed as she gently stroked her thumb over the small ridge of your cheekbone with a featherlight touch of her manicured fingers.
You blinked a few times and gave her a groggy and tired look which edged on mild confusion. Lifting your head slightly Weems gently kept a hand on your chest as an indication to stay down where you laid in her lap.
“Where?” You began and weems smiled delicately.
“We’re on our way back to nevermore darling. Ms Thornhill and I will look after you don’t worry sweet girl. We’ve got you.” She said and you blinked ad gave a tired nod before shutting your eyes again and resting your head back on the headmistress. Both teachers knew you weren’t quite asleep but somewhere in between, not quite awake but not sleeping either.
You stayed that way until the car pulled into the school. Weems unbuckled and Thornhill got out to help Weems with you. Between the two of them they wrestled you out of the car and into Weems waiting arms where you rested your head against her collarbone still feeling exhausted.
You watched through half lidded eyes and blurred vision as they navigated the halls to Weems apartment before going inside. She carefully set you down in the cot that she had the nurse bring into her bedroom so she could keep an eye on you over night.
She kept a hand under your head as she laid you down. The cot was basically a small bed with a mattress that they used in the infirmary.
However, the nurse had to deal with a family emergency and wouldn’t be back until later in the week. In the meantime, they had brought in a trainee who could patch up the students but wasn’t quite qualified for the care you would be needing in the next 24 hours.
The next time you woke was a little later, Ms Thornhill was sat on Weems bed doing some marking meaning Weems was probably in her office dealing with work matters.
You sat up still feeling exhausted and rubbed your eyes with a fist. Feeling tired and disoriented you unintentionally let out a small whine drawing the attention of the teacher on the bed. She stood and came over to kneel by the bed.
“Hello honey, how are we feeling?” She asked as she brushed the hair from your face. Thornhill checked her watch and frowned. “Time for more meds sweet girl.” She said and grabbed a packet from the bedside. She popped out some tablets and grabbed a glass of water.
Studying your shaking hands, she lifted the glass directly to your lips before placing the meds into your mouth and following it with the glass again.
A little bit of water dribbled down your chin and Thornhill smiled softly and wiped it away with her thumb before booping your nose with her wet finger. You blinked for a second before giving a lopsided grin. Thornhill chuckled at your reaction and dried her finger on her pants.
Thornhill took a moment to obverse you, noting the slight fidgeting.
“Do you need that bathroom darling?” She asked and you froze before nodding meekly. “Alright.” She said and helped you up.
She practically carried you to the bathroom before stepping outside to allow you privacy. Once you were done and had washed your hands, she helped you back to bed. Fluffing the pillows to help you sit up properly with support.
Thornhill sent a text on her phone and a moment later Weems arrived with some ice chips in a plastic bowl.
“Hello darling.” She drawled as she crossed the room. She handed you the ice chips and you blinked before putting some in your mouth and grinning as they crunched between your teeth. Weems and Thornhill exchanged smiles.
“Once you’ve had some of those it’s time for an early night, alright honey?” Weems asked and you nodded sleepily. “Alright.” Weems said. “Ms Thornhill will sit with you for a bit while i get some work done. Then the two of us will have some dinner and we’ll be sleeping in my bed just here. Wake us up if you need anything ok darling?” She asked and you nodded and crunched more ice chips.
“Good.” She said and patted your cheek. You lent into the touch and sighed softly. Weems smiled and helped you get comfortable. She took the bowl from you and turned out the main light leaving only the lamp. Both teachers bid you goodnight and you returned the sentiment and rolled over.
As you slept the two teachers kept a careful eye on you, monitoring closely to make sure you were ok. And you were.

Goodbye to the massive tonsil stone that has been in the back of my throat for the past 3 weeks. I hated you and I still do. Don't call me.

genuinely someone please help me.
I've been to a doctor about this but he said I was wrong.
I'm pretty sure I have tonsil stones, but my tonsils are not inflamed. for that reason he said I was incorrect about my conclusion.
tonsil stones are the white debris that form in your tonsils and may even result in holes which increases the chances of getting stones in the tonsils.
what can I do?
(it hurts when I cough. I've tried gurgling with apple cider vinegar and water as well as salt water)
it's still in there. I try to brush my teeth and gurgle after eating, but there was a water shortage for a few days so I couldn't do it all. that might be the reason it's back again.
I've had it for a while and it usually falls out or I take them out by coughing and gurgling etc. this time it feels more annoying.
(also, what can I do for my sore throat now?)

I know people used to just get them removed as a preventative measure but I don’t think they do that anymore. I got mine removed when I was in 1st grade due to them being incredibly swollen and causing me a lot of health problems. (Strep throat, asthma attacks, etc.)

Seriously?! 🫤
My throat was hella sore today, to the point where I was afraid to swallow. I avoided eating and drinking. My head and ears started hurting like a bihhh. I left work early and went straight to the ER…
Doc: Oh man. I see your back with strep again. Whats goin on here???
Me: 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️
Doc: *checks back of my throat*
Doc: Oh wow. Your throat is mad.
Me: It’s angry. I know. 🥴
Doc: At your age, you shouldn’t be getting strep like this back to back. You might want to see someone about removing your tonsils so this won’t keep occurring.
Me: *Googles… “does removing tonsils hurt?”*
