Banter I Had Poll
Okay so I had some banter with my parents about a place on the "To Good to Go" app - for those that don't know of it, the app is basically made so that food services with "excess" food that theyd otherwise typically have to throw out can sell surprise bags / left overs to people at a much lower price so reduce food waste and what not. The food service gets to make small money theyd otherwise not, the consumer gets food at a notable markdown, and food isn't wasted. My sister got my dad and mom interested in it and they've been testing it out some
One of the places we've found has a lot of Chinese food listed as "$21 worth of food" for $6.99 and "$30 worth of food" for $9.99; however when you get the food, it is definitely *not* $21 or $30 worth respectively, HOWEVER the food is fresh tasting, decently authentic tasting, and definitely worth more than $6.99 and $9.99 (I'd estimate at least $8.99 and $13.99 +/- $1-2 dollars depending on the random bag)
Upon the few times we ordered from there, we realized the place probably uses this app as their main business - they make the food in what appears to be a rented out kitchen (where multiple restaurants cook at by request and there really isn't much of a 'store front') - this obviously reduces the cost put into having an actual full establishment (rent, all the utilities, all the staff needed for running an in person place, etc) and limits production cost mainly to ingredients and cooking labor , along with the need to produce food waste as the amount they plan to sell is probably what they put on the app itself.
We do not know the quality, conditions, and work environments of those kitchens.
The food is better quality and more in quantity than what you pay, but less than what they supposedly claim it is worth.
The food is most likely not "left over waste" like the app intends as it tastes and looks very fresh.
So poll question (feel free to reblog and discuss or ask questions)

PSA: For people in Europe and North America
If you’re struggling with cost of living, food insecurity/financial problems, I highly recommend checking out the app TooGoodToGo !!! You can search for places in your area - restaurants AND SOME GROCERY STORES - that you can buy basically the food they didn’t sell that day for a massive discount! For restaurants, this is a great way to try out some new spots and get some variety of food without spending a lot of money, but getting groceries on here could save you a good chunk of what you need for the week. Plus, you’re taking food that is still good and stopping it from just being thrown out, reducing food waste and helping the planet! The stuff you get is kind of random potentially since it’ll be whatever the place sells that would’ve gone to waste, but you can filter down to search for vegetarian/vegan or specific places and types of food! I’m not sure exactly where all it will be available/useful but if you live in a city area there’s a good chance to find places in your area. I recently got a grocery bag through there for the first time: I paid £3 and got a massive bag filled with about 15 kohlrabi, a small bag of green beans, 2 small heads of lettuce, a big bags of potatoes, some dried mango bites, and two whole melons - probably would’ve been about £15-20 to buy all that at normal store price. Everything was pretty much right at it’s sell by date but is still perfectly okay to eat and has lasted 3 days in the fridge so far (besides what I cooked + ate already). Great way to get some produce and possibly bread/pastries cheap because that’ll be what often reaches its expiration date without being sold. Huge money saving way to add some decent healthy food to your meals! Hope this can help some people, time’s are tough so take care of yourselves however you can ❤️

No fanfic, just a rant

Are any of you guys familiar with Too Good To Go?
I'm staying at my mom's atm, and the supermarket that participates in this only sells 1 bag.
Everyday her creepy neighbor buys it the moment it's available for the next day, but today I was faster.
Anyways, rant over lmao

A’s Too Good to Go order from Two Boots in Park Slope: three slices of pizza. A’s Too Good to Go cost: $3.99.
Two Boots offers both a lunch and dinner meal on the TGTG app. This one was a dinner order.

so if anyone wasn’t aware, too good to go is a free app that shows you where in your area you can buy food, that will otherwise go to waste, for a significantly lower price.
Think food that was still not bought when it’s around closing time and won’t last much longer.
You find out what food it is that was left over when you arrive at the store.
As far as I can tell, they’re currently active in: United States. Austria. Belgium. Canada. Denmark. France. Germany. Ireland, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom.
My family has been using too good to go for a while and its been pretty good! It does present some problems with meal planning bc we don’t know what food will arrive when. There’s a lot of dairy or fake dairy products since those spoil easily. The food we get is still edible at the time of purchase. Would recommend.

Too Good To Go
Just got into using the Too Good To Go app - you sign up for a “magic bag” from somewhere local, and collect at a set time. The idea is you get cheap food and they don’t have to throw it away.
So far I’ve mostly been getting Costa ones, and I’ve been getting 3 sandwiches/wraps/paninis in a bag. Which for £3, is not to be sneezed at. Also had a very generous helping of cooked breakfast from a local hotel, will definitely be going back for that again.
It’s still slightly more expensive than making food at home but the chances of me ever getting together all the ingredients and the energy to make a cooked breakfast are zero, so it’s been well worth it.
Whether it’s any use to you is going to depend on what’s around you and how available you are to go pick things up (you can filter down by time of day etc in the app). But worth looking into to see what’s in your area that might work for you.
(It’s available in UK, Ireland, US, Canada, and several other countries already.)

I've been trying out the too good to go app (because I am not doing well financially but I am stressed and need a treat like please I'm so stressed just let me eat some cakes) and omg I've gotten such good stuff?
I got 2 magic bags yesterday and I got like 7 meals worth of food, with 9 doughnuts, and 4 cookies for only £5.50?? I might not have to go shopping this week. This app is going to save me so much money.
10/10 please check if too good to go operates in your area its amazing.

Lae'zel's character and her entire situation at the beginning of the game becomes so much more funny when you find out she's 22. It makes so much sense. Imagine you're 22 and you're exposed to this dangerous toxin or chemical or something - but not to worry, you learnt that this can be easily fixed, you just need to dial 911 real quick. Common knowledge. Everyone knows that. You learnt that in kindergarten, it's up there with fire alarm drills.
But the people you're stuck with have no concept of modern medicine and when you say "let's go to the hospital" they will say shit like "i think they kill people at the hospital" and "we should ask this swamp lady" or "this guy over there told me about this homoeopathic healer kind of guy but he got abducted" or "this random bard wants to help" and "I'm not going to dial 911 because I don't want the government to know my home address" or "maybe we should consider a deal with Satan". And then a bunch of them KEEP consuming the chemical because it makes them "stronger". One guy might explode for unrelated reasons. You have a few days before this situation is getting critical and suddenly they're solving crime and doing general charity for the community.
And FOR SOME REASON you still try to help these idiots and you STILL want to help them get the cure even though they all keep insisting the "doctors" at the "hospital" might try to "kill them" and they don't have insurance. And you keep telling them to just. go. to. the. hospital. before the time runs out and you all die very horribly of a very treatable condition.
And also you're 22 in a foreign country and you're responsible for shepherding this gaggle of idiots who are all ranging anywhere from 24 to 240 years old.
