I don't like "collections of one shots", especially if each one shot is super divorced from each other and the only through-line is the same source material.

Even worse when it’s a collection of one shots from different fandoms.

Like, at that point, just write them all as separate one shots, my guy!

Are you trying to get more Kudos? Or is it that you don't wanna come up with a different title for each one shot? Are you looking to annoy your readers? Is that it?

Collections of one shots also end up having way too many tags and not enough summary, which is another pet peeve of mine.

(the only exception is @avatarmerida 's "Wintery Junk" but that's because everything she writes seems like it's specifically written for me)

Sometimes I think about food as a love language. I went out to get seafood as lunch with my great aunt (and other family members) and we got crab. As she’s cracking open the crabs, she mentions how a specific part is her favorite, and then immediately offers it to her husband. My great-grandmother’s memory is starting to go a bit, and a few years ago I started digitalizing some of her recipes so that she’d have a copy all in one place rather than old tins everywhere in her kitchen, and I shared the Google document with the whole family. When she passes, the only thing my mom wants of hers for certain is her cutting board because of the food memories attached to it. We all covet the queso recipe from the Mexican place some of the family used to own. Every time we’re in Boulder we try to go to the restaurant my great-grandmother’s twin’s husband used to own. We bake cookies for each other every time we see each other. I know my favorite cookies are ginger snaps, my mom’s are oatmeal chocolate chip, my grandmother’s are pecan sandies. My great-grandmother makes those cookies when we come over. Idk. I’m just thinking about food as a love language.

One (Viktor) who lingers a little on the past but is happy and content as to where he is in the present #the other (Atlas) still mourning his dead mother and having left his abusive home. #A trans girl (Inky) who grew up in a perfectly normal household but became agoraphobic; before being ripped from her home and forced into #outside world #and Nim. someone who grew up in a trash zone with nothing to eat but garbage and is living her best life in the present. #they're literally blorbos from my brain ESPECIALLY the world they're apart of too because GOD i love it so much #What Nim's holding is called a Liabell; most if not all mosnter hunters have them for mobility. #the liabells dont work without a lullader (small-neon glowing stone looking spiders basically) inside. as it uses their incredibly tough we #to pull #but Nim's a cloven (deerways) so she's already got pretty good agility and uses their's for moreso rangling monsters. #i have SUCH a cool scene that I wanna draw (but doesn't fit my style- so i gotta commission it for sure) #where they're standing atop of an elk-like monster #and he's like- spun webs of the liabell around it's horns and its incredibly firey and its night and #GAHH #Nim's liabell isn't even like- purple- his lullader is- the liabell is clear glass with weathering copper when the lullader isnt in it. #I'm so normal about this world and all the races I've made for it. Because simply being a different race means they might use their #tools differently or not need specific ones #for example: I've got one character in my mind that's a possae (something inhabiting another thing basically) and they're a skeleton #with this massive glowing pulsating mass in it's ribcage and its all cowboy motif. (I'm thinking angel posessing it and handing out #their own retrobution in the West Zone) #and basically they use a Liabell similar to Nim but it's a lasso and they have several of them to help tie up more people.

New Theme

On a whim, I decided to redo the desktop themes for this blog and @gamebunny-color-sp (maybe others too).

The old one had pretty much everything I liked in a theme: a search bar, a pagination in the sidebar where you can jump ahead multiple pages, little empty space, etc.

But, one thing it doesn't do well is accommodate how I write entire posts in the tags: they look pretty bad scrunched together, and often times they got so long that they appear behind other posts.

It also behaved strangely for audio posts made after tumblr's major updates, and posts with in-line videos.

This new theme fixes those problems and still has most of what I liked from the old one. I don't like that the pagination is at the bottom, but such as it is.

I think I worked out most of the aesthetic stuff, and I didn't notice any other major problems, but if you notice anything "off," please let me know, and I'll see if it's something I can fix~

#there is an alternate pagination for this theme that actually puts it in the sidebar like I prefer #but it only has a forward and back button rather than numbered pages #i'm still deciding which of the 2 i prefer #so if you check out my blog and the pagination is in the sidebar #then i changed my mind #i did try to frankenstein the numbered pagination to be where the sidebar pagination was #but it didn't work out~ i don't know too much about coding themes OTL #that said if you get this theme for yourself i did make 1 minor change to it: i changed the date formatting #i prefer to have the month written out vs only numbers #so i don't get confused or confuse others on which way the date is meant to be read #otherwise how you see my theme is how it should behave for you #i'm thinking about making a tag list for this blog #i didn't have one 'cus this is the 'junk blog' but it's becoming the one i use most so i might as well i guess...
