Happy Friday! For DADWC I'm prompting you with: “Come on. I’ll show you how to dance” for a pairing of your choice.

Thank you very much for the prompt for @dadrunkwriting. I had a lot of fun writing this, and I might need to write it out more in the future for a fic, because I love the direction it could go, but no brain after work x3 Pairing: Solas/m Lavellan Rating: T Words: 767

“Not to be rude, but you have been pacing back and forth for an hour now.” His eyebrows were furrowed as his lips pressed into a thin line. Just as they always did when he showed his irritation.

“It is nearly impossible to focus on my studies,” he added with a scoff, his hands putting the papers down he tried to make sense of for about an hour now. “So, won’t you tell me what is troubling you, Da’len?”

Guilt crept onto the younger elf’s face as he stopped his pacing at once, his freckled cheeks flushing in a red hue that almost matched the colour of his hair.

“It’s nothing…” Revassan started, only to sigh in defeat. There was nothing he could hide from Solas. He might have been preferring his solitude over meddling with people in the tavern, but nothing was escaping his sharp eyes and mind.

“Well, there is that Ball…” he slowly continued on a bit sheepishly. “You know, the one we are supposed to attend to save the Empress of Orlais and prevent the horrible future I saw in Redcliffe from happening…”

“As far as I can recall, yes.” Solas voice got softer, the tone of it almost like a warm embrace when he continued. “I suppose, that is a heavy weight on your shoulders and it is possibly only natural that you are restless,” he added as warmth flickered through his stormy eyes.

“It must have been hard to witness such a dark future and to be burdened with the weight of the world. I am sorry.” He truly looked as if he was.

It made Revassan’s heart skip a beat.

“I… yes I guess….” He tried to gather his words, his face and neck feeling hot all of a sudden. “I mean… that was not the reason I was nervous but now that you phrase it like that… Thank you, that makes me feel better.” Revassan followed up with one of his impish smiles.

“Ah, What is it then that has you in such a nervous state?”

“Now that you phrased everything else out… It’s probably foolish.” He halted for a moment, chuckling at himself. There were so many more reasons to be on edge. Solas was right, when he talked about the weight of the world sitting on his shoulders, or more literally in the palm of his hand. And while he had been in a dark place after the fall of Haven, he was slowly trying to make the best out of it.

It wasn’t as if he could go anywhere else after all.

“So…” Revassan added once he watched Solas gesturing him to continue with an arched brow, waiting for him to finish. “It’s a Ball, right? And I know we are there for political reasons but… I talked to Josephine and Leliana and they mentioned there is possibly going to be dancing involved and…” he sighed deeply.

“Well… I can’t dance.”

Solas was staring at him for what seemed to be like an eternity. His heart raced in his chest as he counted the heartbeats. One, two, three, four… and then it was over as the older elf couldn’t help but chuckle.

“Is that all? Well, that is a problem that can be easily resolved.” Solas stood up with a graceful and fluid motion, extending his hand to him partially in invitation and expectation. “Come. I’ll show you how to dance, Da’len.”

Revassan was caught between chuckling and just staring at the tall elf in front of him. For one part, he couldn’t imagine Solas as a dancer at all. And for a second, he was too occupied with keeping his fast-beating heart at bay, fearing that Solas might hear it otherwise.

“You?” the redhead chuckled nervously.

“I assure you, I am well versed when it comes to courtyard dancing.” Solas arched his brow at him, his head slightly cocking to the side before he took Revassan’s hand to pull him into position with a smirk.

“Just, follow my lead,” he added, the way his voice dropped just making it harder for Revassan to focus on anything but Solas' perfect lips right within reach.

He tried to follow the steps and the pace set by the older elf, his heart beating so fast in his chest that he worried it might jump out of his chest. One, two… he counted in his head to follow the rhythm, avoiding thinking about the warm hand pressed against his back or the feeling of slender fingers holding his.

Damn, he might have been deeper in than he originally thought.

ABOUT

yoosu here is a recovering spoiled rich boy, born with a pretty literal silver spoon in his mouth which means growing up he was kind of an entitled little shit

not everything was hunky dory in the kwon household though, see yoosu's parents pretty much never were happy with him. positive attention wasn't a thing it was just little nitpicks about how he could do better or be better or how someone else's son was doing better

yoosu did everything he could to fight for just a crumb of his parents' attention. it didn't really work though, and instead yoosu just learned that no matter what he did he was never good enough which left him chasing after his parents' idea of perfection for most of his life

yoosu began auditioning around rather young thinking that if he could be a celebrity of some kind maybe his parents would finally let up, so yeah...didn't get into an idol for the love of music even though he did later discover that he actually does love music anyway...his audition streak was not good it took him several very long years before he was accepted at canvas labs

being a trainee at canvas labs showed some of yoosu's worst traits, however. he was competitive to a fault and as he had been raised to believe that success was a limited concept and only given to a few "worthy" ones it meant that he was extremely hard to get along with as a trainee because he constantly worried that other trainees were somehow "after" him

life however kind of smacked him straight in the face because his parents eventually stopped communicating with yoosu writing him off in their heads as not their problem anymore. and with no friends around to try and help him pick up the pieces yoosu was left on his own to deal with the feelings of abandonment and anger

not long after that he was taken aside by one of he trainers and basically told if he didn't at least TRY to get along with the other trainees he was going to be cut for his attitude. these two things coinciding basically got yoosu to wake up and at least attempt to be pleasant, his results are kind of mixed as now more people get to see a softer side of him but he's still a competitive little shithead with anger issues so obviously people aren't into that

however, attempting to get along worked and yoosu was eventually granted a debut in newave, he's still on the mend from his previous entitled rich boy antics but he's much better now than he was back in 2020

PLOT IDEAS

yoosu's best friend in newave, their friendship is a bit unexpected because of yoosu being well....yoosu but ever since he's tried turning his life around he figured out that he actually really likes this person and in return they give him a little grace and some space to mess up sometimes

the guy that yoosu cannot get along with for even thirty seconds maybe it's something really serious between them where they get physical or maybe they're just too much alike and it causes bickering

"old friends" less so friends than just acquaintances, these are people who yoosu grew up with but is not necessarily very personal with at most their parents just threw them together for the reputation points

other idols in general or people around idols they can love him or hate him it really doesn't matter too much

Okay I have a question for all the Vespers. At least the ones you can answer. How would they react to their respective Stellar being pregnant 👀 Please take your time in answering! I was just curious cause I realized Phoebe might be around in the AUs X3

Ok this took so thought!

It really comes down to not just “you’re pregnant?!” But also “I’m gonna be a dad?!?”

Vampire AU- Would take it surprisingly well. If he hasn’t turned yet (which honestly is not something he’s jumping for right now) then he will be wanting to research how to care for a vampire/ human hybrid. He’s gonna do his darn best to be a good dad.

Reverse Vampire AU- Very surprised and over the moon with joy. He’s going to spoil little Phoebe as much as possible. He would be very impatient while waiting for her birth, but would also dote incessantly on Stellar the whole time.

Pirate AU- Genuinely will not register things at first. When it does finally hit him then he’s going to be excited. But first he needs to actually understand that yes- this is a thing now. Another one that will want to dote on Stellar.

Mafia AU- Will quite literally faint at the news. How did this happen? What are they gonna do? He doesn’t know how to be a dad! What if the baby doesn’t even like him?!

Much Panic.

Monster AU- Another who will be chill about it. Will want to move in some place with Stellar right away. He will be wanting to keep his parents and their court away from the baby at first. It’s not that he thinks they would hurt her. On the contrary, Unseelie children are rare and they would be extremely happy for the boys. But they aren’t the most friendly bunch. Both his Aunts would be ok but that’s it.

Snippet Sunday - Return to Shore

@ejunkiet tagged me, and with the Imperium Season 2 officially starting, I figured this was a good one to share part of X3 SOOO much more lore to work with now, I’m so pumped already lol anywho, enjoy~

“What the fuck…?”

Tank closed their eyes and took in a slow, deep breath. Reminding themselves that such a reaction was a deserved response to them showing up on someone’s doorstep with the Royal Consort clinging to their arm.

Opening their eyes once more, they looked up at Elliott, fairly certain that the only reason he hadn’t slammed the door in their face was because he knew they’d just go right through it.

“Very long story. One I don’t have time to explain. We gonna discuss this out here in the rain, where everyone can see?” They asked in as sweet a voice as they could manage.

Despite the firm tone in their voice, it was still a relief when he stepped back to let the two of them into his home. Tank barely kept from rolling their eyes as Elliott shoved his head back out the door to glance around before shutting and locking it.

Very subtle. Not suspicious behaviour at all.

“Am I going to have palace guards kicking my door down in the next few minutes?” He hissed as he walked over to where Tank had settled Angel down in the living room.

“Not so long as we keep this quick. You gonna tell me what you learned, or what?” The wolf pointed out. They moved to join Elliott where he stood in the kitchen, only to stumble when Angel refused to let go of their hand.

Wincing at the tight grip, Tank crouched down in front of them, twisting their wrist in order to squeeze their hand back in return. “I’m not going fair. Literally won’t even leave your sight, I promise.”

They could see the effort it took for Angel to let go, and the tears that were gathering in their face again caused an uncomfortable feeling to grow in their chest. They tamped it down, however, striding quickly over to the dreamwalker that was waiting nervously by the stove.

“I know you said it was too long to explain, but you better have a good excuse for bringing the Royal Consort into my home.” He snapped, earning a dark look from the shifter.

“It’s my problem, not yours. Don’t worry about it.” Glancing back at the soaked figure shivering on the couch, they stepped closer, dropping their voice down to a hush. “So what can you tell me about people coming back from the dead?”

40.Reveal one of your secrets. I don't care if it's silly. I can't listen to the OG version of Ocean Man without crying because Stephen Hillenburg's death is the only celebrity death I've ever actually cried about. He was dying from his autonomic disease at the same time I was getting my own figured out, and getting sick is the reason for my horrible mental illnesses. He contributed so much to the humor culture of several generations, especially mine, plus of course major nostalgia. So knowing that entire album by Ween (but especially that song) literally inspired so much of Spongebob, plus the fact that the movie was where the story was supposed to be done and was when he took his exit as the executive director (he'd told the story he wanted to by that point but Nickelodeon wanted to continue it since it was so financially popular). He got to end it where he wanted and did so by getting to have that song on the movie. I'm EMOTIONAL about it. And when you go on literally any video for that song (not the meme version obvs), all the comments always say "RIP Ocean Man" and I just 😭😭😭

Hey sweetie!! How are you? I just wanted to check in on ya. 🥰 I seriously do NOT want to sound like a Mom here, but—are you eating well? Drinking enough water? Getting enough sleep? Taking your vitamins/regularly prescribed medication/herbal supplements? (Remember when I said I was a bit older?? Yeah—totally used to asking these questions x3 ;))

I started rereading DV and WOOOOW am I glad I did!! I caught so many things I missed when I literally went through it like a log through a freaking wood chipper!! I would not change that first read though. It reminded me of that very first scary fair or amusement park ride—that very FIRST ONE, where you’re trying to act cool in front of your friends, because it’s completely not a big deal, and your stomach literally falls out of your butt and you stay home from school the next day ‘cause you JUST CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT HOW COOL THAT FEELING WAS. Acknowledgement

I wanna acknowledge my feelings. For the past two days I have felt like crying during / after work.

The first day, the workload was so much. As helpful as the people around me tried to be, there were too many things that only I could do. After handing over, I went to a quiet room to finish up with reports and other paperwork. In the room, finally alone, the urge to cry came. Should I give in? Or “this is the time that life teaches you to stay strong and you have to show yourself that you can handle this” ? I chose the latter. So I played my ‘hype up’ playlist and immersed myself in that ‘you can definitely do this’ mindset. This got things moving and done, working alone until 2315hrs in the ward when everyone else from my shift had long left. I went home listening to that same playlist.

Day 2. I woke up at 1530hrs. Feeling well rested and productive, I even went for a haircut and ate a proper meal before heading to work. I took over the care of twelve patients with another colleague. Everything appeared good. There weren’t many issues to follow up with and the amount of intravenous medications were not crazy. Have definitely received a room that was way ‘heavier’ before. It didn’t take long however. Issues started popping up without a break. Orders for extra blood tests, ECGs, IV medications just kept coming throughout the night on top of all existing orders. New admission came in. I did the entire admission alone, from vitals, matching of tag, admission swabs x2, admission documents x3. Patient requested for helper to stay overnight, requiring me to seek permission from night manager. In the midst of that, another patient is refusing to go for an xray which my colleague made me come out and go to listen to that’s patient’s grandmother story when I haven’t started writing a single report. Finished that admission and a patient showed me a rash which the reviewing doctor documented as zoster. Another patient’s heart rate remained high, prompting blood, ECG and fluid orders. Post replacement blood of a patient came back low, prompting 3 cycles of IV replacements. Post dialysis blood of another patient came back with low electrolytes, prompting another round of IV replacement. Meanwhile a very needy patient kept calling ‘nurse~~ nurse~~’ the whole night for minor things, another patient kept calling me over saying her leg was painful but refusing painkillers that I kept trying to offer and still constantly calling me over to tell me that her leg was painful. Every time I wanted to start writing a report there would be a call bell or more orders to carry out. I sat down for the first time maybe at 2+ am, never managing to sit for more than 5 minutes at a time. Whenever I tried to eat, there would be more things to be done. I ended up eating (swallowing food) at 0520hrs and came back to serve IVs. I really felt like I was working alone. At around 0640hrs, the doctor failed to take blood from a line and so I asked my colleague to help. I couldn’t tell if she was busy or reluctant. I ended up asking someone else for help. Another patient’s IV canula was not working well and had to be replaced. I saw that my colleague had finished her work and asked her for help and she said that ‘the doctor will set’, which was just not going to happen as if she doesn’t know that. I told her that if she refused to set it, I would have to stay back to do it after handing over and she literally said ‘okay’. I really felt like I was working alone, like my colleague has a choice to reject work and whatever she refused to do, I would have to stay back myself to complete just because I was in charge and she was totally fine with it. I can’t explain the level of disappointment I felt. After handing over, I went to attempt setting the IV plug however I failed, adding to my own disappointment.

I felt so stressed and on high alert the whole night and after going through this for 2 consecutive shifts, the urge to cry came again. I suppressed it again, writing this post with still unshed tears.

Analysis of the Family Agreste Portrait

Quarantine strikes again and since the Agreste family portrait has fascinated me for a loooong while now I decided to put my thoughts into words and write another essay x3

The amount of informations we get out if it is amazing and its not only highlighting the absolute TRAGEDY it is that this family is about to face such a horrible fall out, it also hints at the former family dynamic before everything went to hell.

So make yourself comfortable and get something to drink, because we will be here for a while.

Here we go: My analysis of this beauty of a fictional portrait

Let's start with the most obvious one: Hawkmoth.

Its commen knowledge by now that the background makes it seem like Hawkmoth is standing behind the Agreste family like a bad omen waiting for fate to take its course and cause their doom. The portrait is brilliantly designed so the illusion is created that Gabriels body (here in a blue suit closer to Hawkmoths normals dark purple one) overlaps with Hawkmoths and a darker line is connecting the two faces as well, which rest on the same height right beside each other. The very same line grows bigger as it goes further behind Emilie - coloring her entire background - showing us that EMILIE is all Gabriel sees when he becomes Hawkmoth. But notice that Adrien on the other hand can hardly be concidered part of Gabriels “sight” at all.

Its forshadowing 101 and damn beautiful if I may say so. But this isnt what I want to focus on in this post.

I want to elaborate on two other key factors that tell us about the former dynamic of the Agrestes instead and what they tell us about the present and future.

The heart:

This is hitting me on another level because look at the heart these three form with Adrien right in the middle! He was so LOVED. This family may have never been anywhere close to ideal but still, there was LOVE and now he's gonna loose it all.

Adrien already lost his mother which led to his father getting even more distant and cold and now his father is becoming increasingly more abusive as he falls deeper and deeper into villainy. Gabriel was never a good father, the show has already made this clear with episodes like "the bubbler", “the collector” or "Gigantitan" for example but gosh there was hope for their little family! The end scene in "Jackady" portrayed it perfectly and I wrote a whole other post just covering the sigificants of Adriens and Gabriels hug in that episode. Check it out here if you want, it goes hand in hand with this one.

Miraculous is all about love and the completely different ways it can affect us, our behavior and actions. Because love isnt just wonderful, pure and empowering, it also can be twisted, destructive and cause the darkst nightmares. And with this family the writers know how to portray the complex love in an abusive houshold thats destined to go up in flames and they also know how to hint at their troubled past with the family portrait.

But this heart visual tells us even more in connection with the positions of their hands. And with these two key factors, lets start with Gabriel:

His hands convey it so strongly. He loves/d Emilie and Adrien so much and no doubt this love for them was certainly the reason why he started his quest as Hawkmoth. But he is now losing himself more and more in the pleasure of his villainy to the point where he forgets why he's doing it in the first place and becomes a complete monster (of a father). But this turn and spiraling into villainy didn't came out of nowhere - this root already had to be in him to grow like that. And this is also something the portrait indeed hints at as well.

Because Gabriel is the only one of the three who:

1. We see so completely open and without hesitation reach out and hold BOTH his family members.

2. Is visually “cut off” from them as well.

But this doesn't mean he was excluded and the only one who truly cared and loved, it just shows that things were more... complicated...as usual.

This is best explained with Adriens hand placements:

One hand is holding his mothers but the other one is visibly not reaching out for his father. But as we all know, that's not because Adrien doesn't love him. In season 1-3 it is made more than clear that Adrien does not hate his father - he loves him alot and tries to be there for him and be patient because he knows that the loss of his mother brought his father terribly down.

Sure, Adrien gets frustrated and angry with him, literally how could he not?? But Adrien tries his best to reach out to Gabriel so they can bond and come out of this tragedy stronger.

But this loving willingness to forgive his father for the chance of growing a father-son bond with him doesn't change the fact that these two didn't had a bond prior to this. And let's be honest here, does anybody actually think this distance between them was caused by Adrien? I don't think so.

So notice how Adriens hand - not reaching out for his fathers - is the only one in the portrait NOT inside or forming the heart.

When the connection of the hands between the family members symbolise their connection to another, then Adrien keeping the hand for his father away from the display of love is VERY telling. It tells us very directly what this distance did to Adriens side of the relationship. Despite Gabriels hand being right there, Adrien does not meet the gesture. And I cannot believe that he did it out of resentment, nothing in the show indicated such strong negative emotions from past Adrien.

It's much more likely that Adrien not reaching for his fathers hand is meant to show us that Adrien felt that he either CAN'T return the gesture because he fears that it'll end in an unpleasant reaction from Gabriel - that it isn't Adriens "place" to reach out to his busy and distant father like that, like it's demanding something - or Adrien simply didn't took Gabriel laying his hand on his shoulder, in the context of posing for a portrait, as a gesture of love and affection.

The way I interpret the portrait is that prior to Emilies dissappearence Adrien did not exactly try to reach out to his father the same way he did from s1-s3, which, I mean, of course wasn't the case. Not only is it NOT the 13 years olds (or younger) job to form an emotional connection to their absent parent - when that’s the PARENTS job - it also wouldn't be necessarily "needed" for Adrien to do so.

Because Emilie at this point was still in the picture so and she was the complete opposite. She was a (or maybe the ONLY) safe, reliable and loving constant of parental attention, affection and care in his life and because of these two HARSH contrasts Adrien learned from very early on to focus mostly completely on her in that regard while kinda blocking his father out.

That most likely wasn't even an active choice whatsoever - Gabriel proofed to be an unreliable resource so Adrien learned to subconciously treat him that way out of self protection. That doesn't mean he had any kind of dislike or malice against his father it just means that he wasn't able or allowed to connect with Gabriel the way he needed. Several episodes show that Gabriel deadass only parented like 15 minutes tops in his life with one of the worst offenders kinda being “Gigantitan” ngl.

So yeah, when I see that the portrait wants to tell me that prior to Emilies loss, Adrien - a 12-13 year old at most - is THIS used to rely solely on the strong bond he has with his mother and not even really reaching out for his fathers love, then I can't help but interpret it in the way that... Well... Gabriel was so distant and emotionally unreliable to Adrien for all his life, that Gabriel simply... wasn't needed by his son. Not at that point of time at least.

And while this may seem weird, because obviously Adrien only now starts to stop craving for his fathers affection and approval (which is btw a horrible, HORRIBLE thing and not something good. A half orphan losing the last remaining hope he had left of having the chance to finally get to form a bond with the only other parent he has left, just to be crushed by disappointment and abandonment all over again until he let's go, is REALLY NOT as much of a good thing people will make it out to be. This is... plain awful) it's actually quite logical.

Adriens hand outside the heart doesn't mean that his father meant nothing to him and therefore refuses to meet and accept his affection (that's literally the complete opposite of what the show shows us), it means that Adriens and Gabriels father-son relationship suffers from a fatal emotional disconnection caused by miscommunication/ a lack of communication.

And this was caused by Gabriel. How? Let me elaborate on that by going a bit far afield (cuz lbh we all have time for this. I’m writing this in quarantine and youre reading this is quarantine, so lets gooooooooooooo).

In "The bubbler" Adrien says that his father "always forgot his birthday", but I cannot agree with this in true honesty. Gabriel is controlling his sons entire life, calls him "the epitome of perfection" and temporarily truly gave up being Hawkmoth for him, he definitely never forgot Adriens birthday.

"The bubbler" even SHOWS us that Adriens perspective of the situation is actually not the truth:

This is Adriens first birthday after Emilies dissappearence and it's incredibly telling how Gabriel handles the planning.

What this entire little sequence tells me is that Gabriel is completely and UTTERLY used to NOT be the one to take care of anything related to Adriens birthday. So Emilie was always the one who did it but somehow - now without her - Gabriel apparently still hasn't even considered changing anything about that nasty non-involvement and just expected Natalie to pick everything up where Emilie left it.

Because let's be real here, knowing Natalie she would NOT have forgotten to get a present if Gabriel truly had told her to. Natalie is never presented to do mistakes like that but Gabriel on the other hand IS definitely presented to us claiming things about himself as ultimate, blameless and true when they simply do not reflect reality. A great example: Gorizilla

You didn’t even speared a minutes of your time for Adrien and he DID try to! Asshat… It's a problem guys. The lack of self awareness Gabriel displays in moments like this is legitimately concerning when you think about how deeply this man is falling right now.

But back to the topic:

Because even if Gabriel didn't even consider doing anything himself for Adriens birthday - not even taking the time to SEE his son (who just recently lost his mother, come on Gabe, really?) - one thing one cannot hold against him: he sure as hell remembered Adriens birthday like any decent parent would and it wasnt portrayed as a this-year-for-the-first-time thing.

And yet Adriens statement still makes complete sense. Because a big, BIG problem with Gabriel is just how much he takes things for granted. He EXPECTS things to be universally known and to never be doubted, just because that's how HE sees them. I will write 10 essays if it's needed to make people understand that Gabriel DOES truly love Adrien, it's just that Gabriel HIMSELF is such a rotten, twisted and toxic person that he cannot see how much his (oppressing) behavior and the way he (doesn't) express his love hurts Adrien and that HE is the one at fault. (for more, once again, read this)

Gabriel LOVES Adrien but he takes the love he feels as such a matter-of-fact that he just completely... forgets to show it.

And when we take Adriens words and look at the Family portrait it unfortunately seems that...

…. Gabriel ALWAYS forgot to show it.

Adriens hand - that should at least be reaching out to his father - is outside of the heart in accepting certainty. Because that's what Gabriels non-presence was for Adrien while growing up: an unreliable and unreachable certainty he had to accept early on as safer to not try to emotionally depend on too much or else he will get hurt.

So yeah, Adrien is the one in the portrait who is very openly not reaching out but only because Gabriel never gave him the needed affection and stability to be able to create that bond.

But let me correct what I said a little earlier: Adrien ALWAYS needed his father. Every kid, especially one in a bad situation like Adrien, does need their parents/friends etc as support system to become independent and confident in a healthy way. And if they don’t have that they WILL crave and look for it!

What Adrien has been doing up to now IS normal for a teenager - humans NEED affection, belonging and safety. What ISNT/SHOULDN’T be normal is Adriens disconnection towards his father in the portrait and just how much Gabriel fails to take care and BE THERE for his son in BOTH TIMES!

One thing I like about the show is that it portrays their young main cast with one very important truth: The psyche of a child/teenager of their age will react and adapt so it SURVIVES, even if it results in unfortunate consequences in other relationships and places. Thats the psyches main concern and it'll try to cope with the limited experience and development it has in whatever way necessary to get itself to the next day. A coping mechanism is not there to make you a better person, it ensures your SURVIVAL, everything else is a secondary concern.

So seeing pre-show Adrien not react to Gabriels touch and even feel completely unloved and disconnected from him is no surprise to me. Kids are incredibly observant. They may lack the needed experience and knowledge to truly understand that they deserve better and to stand up for themselves but they are masters in picking up red flags in people and can put this danger into perspective while comparing the different danger levels of their options of people and places to adjust their behavior.

So the broken connection between father and son we see in the portrait (that Gabriel doesn't even notice but Adrien fully internalized) isn’t there because Adrien “didnt needed” or wanted his father, its because Adrien NEEDED Gabriel so much in his isolated upbringing but Gabriel didn’t LET him need him - so Adrien had to adjust to that accordingly. Big, huge, ENORMOUS difference.

Honestly the most miraculous thing about Miraculous is that Adrien was able to bring up the strength to stay positive and friendly and to forgive Gabriel in hope for a better future. That boys situation is 7 kinds of depressing and traumatizing...

It's just flabbergasting to me how well this portrait shows how basically non-existent their relationship was at that point. And it's horrible to know that this estranged and unformed bond is all Adrien had left after Emilie dissappeared, just alot worse because after Emilie incident Adrien states that his father changed alot for the worse as well.

So to think that all Adrien had left wasn't even this former basically non-existent relationship with his aloof father - who would only barely show his true affection for his son because he's either not around enough to do so or he thinks it "unnecessary to proof his affection" for/to Adrien because he already thinks it so obvious and undoubtable.

Well he thought wrong. And GOSH, it breaks my heart!

So now comparing the "Gabriel" hand from Adrien with the one representing his connections with his mother conveys a pretty harsh contrast.

Because last but not least, let's take a look at Emilies hand placements:

But here is now an interesting difference to Adrien. Whereas we openly see that Adriens side of the Adrien-Gabriel relationship is completely disconnected from the heart/love - showcasing just how badly Adrien has always been neglected by his father - we don't see Emilies hand in her Emilie-Gabriel relationship AT ALL.

Once again just like with Adrien, this doesn't mean she didn't love her husband and that Gabriel was used and fooled by the woman he so utterly adored. It just means that from Emilies point of view things were a bit more complicated. What exactly this is, the portrait is keeping secret from us. We have no way of knowing if and how Emilie is returning her husbands gesture. All we can say is that if she does she is definitely not doing it in such an open and unconflicted way as she does with Adrien.

But since when has anything with this family been this easy?

One thing the portrait makes very clear, Adrien and Emilie had a strong and good bond. Definitely the healthiest because the Adrien-Emilie connection is the only one depicted without any kind of disruption from both sides. Both mother and son are reaching out for the other ones hand creating a whole half of the heart, showcasing their affection for another openly and without any of the implied doubts the other connections display. And honestly? Comparing all the hand placements, the one connecting Adrien and Emilie just comes across as strikingly pure and true (which makes it even worse that it was HER Adrien lost…)

As I said it's a HARSH contrast to the one Adrien shears with Gabriel. This contrast is highlighted even further by the way these three face on another.

Emilie and Adrien are positioned facing another and so are Emilie and Gabriel. Telling us that Emilie was "face-to-face" aka involved with both her husband and son. It is Adrien and Gabriel were this looks wildly different. These two have no way of seeing each other in the eyes the way they stand now/then, further displaying their deeply rooted disconnection. It's portrays perfectly how important Emilie was in this family dynamic, because even though Adrien and Gabriel bearly had a connection at all they at least had Emilie as a link between them, keeping the family together. But then they lost her and where this left both father and son off we know oh too well...

So to collect all the informations we get out if this portrait:

-Adriens and Emilies relationship was the strongest and purest. Both of their hands connect and reach out for another in the heart, showcasing that they had a loving and positive bond.

-Adriens and Gabriels relationship is heavily scarred by a deeply rooted disconnection leaving Adrien feeling unloved and unwanted by his father to the point where Adriens side of their dynamic is outside the heart altogether. Gabriel may love and adore his son just like he loves his wife and never thought he displayed his love for him in a lacking way, but fact is: this love never reached Adrien the way it should have and Adrien is the one in their dynamic who got severely hurt and damaged by it.

-Gabriel was the only one completely unconflicted and happily at peace with the former Family situation. He's reaching out to both his family members with open love and affection in blissful oblivion that neither his wife nor son could return them the same way (to different degrees for different reasons). Gabriel was the ONLY ONE in the Agreste family who didn't saw problems in their lives and thought them all happy, hence why he's so obsessed with changing the past and bringing THIS state of their family back. He was happy and he had everything he needed and loved right with him, of course he wants THIS back. He's not aware that Emilie and ESPECIALLY Adrien did not feel the same about their former situation and that bringing all of them back to this is not the perfect happy ending for their entire family as he thinks.

-Emilie may not have been as unconflicted with Gabriel as he was with her but she is NOT feeling the same disconnection her son feels and isn't depicted with negative feelings towards Gabriel. Her side in the Emilie-Gabriel relationship is neither shown outright positive as with her son or outright bad as Adrien with Gabriel. Her side of their bond is depicted through her unseen hand placement in the unknown area in between.

-Despite their not so unconflicted feelings towards Gabriel - and Gabriel himself being aloof - neither Emilie nor Adrien are actively trying to cut Gabriel out. They aren't flinching away from his touch or exclude him from the heart whatsoever. He's happily included, obviously feeling loved. They may not be 100% happy and Gabriel doesn't notice it, but they aren't denying him his happiness and make him unhappy. Again, he's the only one truly happy here. Something neither Emilie nor Adrien tried to take away from him.

-Emilie and Adrien are facing each other as do Emilie and Gabriel, implying the presence of communication and a bond. Adrien and Gabriel do not face each other, showing their disconnected bond. If they could see each others face Adrien would have been able to see that Gabriels hand is a gesture of genuine affection and Gabriel could see that Adriens expression does not exactly display pure happiness the way he thinks. This also goes for Emilie. Emilie just like her husband is placed BEHIND her son, so even if she is facing him she would not be able to really see just how much Adrien is not satisfied and truly happy with his life at that point (meaning how unhappy being looked up, friendless and at distance with his father actually makes him).

I just find Pinky very relatable, I'm a lot like him myself. He's so sweet and kind and always sees the good in people and doesn't give up on them easily. We both have big hearts like that I think hehe x3

3. Well I was in the MLP Fandom for like... 10 years xD

That's literally all I drew for like 10 years no joke, and so it took me such a long time to relearn how to draw different characters 😅

I don't think I'm as obsessed with anything as much as I am patb rn.

But I really really love Arcane, TOH, Encanto, FNAF:SB... there's probably others but i am drawing a blank xD

Thoughts and Reaction to Mr. Pigeon 72!

I knew this was going to be a really good episode, just because the synopsis we got and the trailer seemed pretty bland. Whenever ML does that, a lot of big things happen in that episode. I screamed and choked on my water in the opening scene where Ladybug's with Alya in Marinette's room. I've been looking forward to Alya and Marinette scenes sooo much since Gang of Secrets! Wayzz & Alya: Hey Marinette, you should take a break and rest. Marinette: Nah, I'm good I gotta keep working Alya: YOU'RE LOSING IT, GIRL! Marinette: Don't care, must work Alya: Okay... you know Adrien and Kagami broke up, right? Marinette: Wait what?! Oh no, Kagami needs me! Alya: Not the reaction I was expecting but okay "Let's not wait for the storm to pass, but let's dance in the rain." I really like this quote! Even during bad times, you need to find the good and enjoy it. And Marinette reaaaally needs to do that. But in a literal sense, please don't dance outside during a dangerous storm.

ALYA AND TRIXX ALDJFSLJDS oh I love them, I'm so happy we'll get to see more of them. The way they both reacted to Marinette saying she has to go console Kagami, they weren't expecting that. xD But I was! I find it very amusing how in episodes like Frightningale she was more upset with Chloe being Ladybug than Chloe being in a video with Adrien that Alya's shocked by her decision, and in Frozer where Marinette was putting Adrien's wants before hers. I really don't understand why people think just because she likes Adrien, she'd not want to help make those around her happy even if it wasn't what she wanted for herself. I'm not surprised at all that Marinette would do this for Kagami, but I'm very happy that she is. "Alya, in Paris, Kagami has no other friend except me. Only I can console her." This makes me so happy. The only times in this show I like Kagami, is when she's with Marinette. After watching this episode, I'm more and more thankful she finally told Alya about being Ladybug I don't even want to know the state she'd be in had she not. O.O She almost ran out of her room as Ladybug (whoops), then almost ran out in her pjs (again, oops). Thanks to Alya, she didn't do either. xD That little detail where Marinette runs out and the sun's really intense, letting us know she's been inside a really long time, so everything outside is really bright. I really appreciate the little things like that. Or at least, that's what I take it as. Unless they're hinting at summer coming up soon... Dang Marinette, just jumps on Kagami's back LOL Kind of reminds me how Chat Noir likes to come up on Ladybug. xD "Your so original friend." Marinette is pretty original! I know the tone implies that's not a good thing, but eh. She's letting her go with Marinette and spend time away, so who cares! Marinette trying really hard to convince Kagami to get back with Adrien and how she's going to help her. I think it's really sweet of her, but Kagami of course clearly doesn't want to. Plagg: What's wrong with you, jumping into ice water! YOU'RE LOSING IT! Adrien: *exposes duffle bag full of Camembert* Plagg: I take back everything I said about you Also huh, Alya just told Marinette she's losing it, now Plagg tells Adrien he's losing it...hmmm. Bob Roth is a horrible person and each time we see him, he does something else to show it. Poor Adrien's allergic to pigeons specifically. I guess he's okay with some birds but not others? Idk? But he told Gabriel it'd be doves, so he approved. But it turned out to be pigeons instead. To be fair, at least in the US, Mourning Doves are often mistaken as pigeons, at least where I live, so they'd make a decent substitute... if it wasn't for Adrien's allergy. Adrien in Gorizilla to Wayhem: If you stop following me around screaming, I think we could be good friends! Wayhem with Cardboard Cut-out Adrien in Mr. Pigeon 72: ADRIENNNNNNN! :/ Marinette has a bag full of everything she may need in all kinds of situations. Comes in handy but good grief girl! How do you lug that all around??? What kind of scenarios do you think up to think of

some of that stuff!? Marinette's so adorable in her bathing suit awwww! Dude. Bob Roth. He said he's allergic to pigeons! And you blame Mr. Ramier because Adrien sneezed and it scared the pigeon away? How is this man successful again? He doesn't listen to anything or anybody. Marinette's like hey Kagami, look at Adrien. You'll start liking him again. Do you feel your heart beating fast now? And she's like "I feel especially bad for the trainer (Mr. Ramier)". I mean same though. He's being treated horribly! x.x Next take, Adrien dives and he sees Marinette with Kagami. But I think he only saw Marinette. Because he says he thought he saw a friend from school (Kagami doesn't attend their school, just the fencing class, as far as we're aware) and also he makes no mention of Kagami at all in this episode. Which means...

Why's your jaw dropping at the sight of your "just a friend" in a bathing suit, Adrien? And, you know, Kagami's literally right there in a bathing suit, too. Just saying. But it's like she's not even there to him. Hmmmmm. Poor Kagami's like, this entire thing is embarrassing, I feel embarrassed for me, Adrien, and this situation. Kagami: Marinette, stop! It's getting crazy! Marinette: Love is crazy! Don't think about it! I love how the more Marinette tries to help Kagami, the more things are working out in Marinette's favor. Interesting, isn't it? The more she tries to tell Adrien her feelings and make opportunities for them, the more they fail. The more she tries to help Kagami, or someone else, the more opportunities for her land in her lap. Hahahahaha the way they both fall LOL "Marinette? 😮" *guilty smile* AND THEN THEY TAKE DOWN POOR EDGAR! :( Mr. Ramier's in the background giving the poor bird CPR as he's drowned and Marinette and Adrien are just casually talking not paying attention lolol "What are you doing here?" "I came to surprise you." Kind of, she was hoping to help Kagami get back with Adrien. So that's a kind of surprise! "Uh, well to relax!" True too, actually. Alya did send her off because she needed to get out of the house and relax from her Ladybug and Guardian duties. Marinette, everyone needs to be careful when at a pool. Clumsy people like you especially need to be careful! lol Good thing Adrien's already seen her fall so many times, it's nothing new lol Gabriel: It's a failure Bob Roth: It's not my fault, it's his! Mr. Ramier: You are under arrest! Edgar is my best friend. He's the most intelligent of the pigeons! Gabriel: It's a pigeon Bob Roth: WHAAAT? IT'S A PIGEON? RAMIER, YOU LIED TO ME. Sorry Gabriel, I'll replace this man! I know a shark trainer First off... LOL that whole scene XDD I actually knew Bob Roth was going to say that entire thing before I heard it lolol Second... awww Edgar's okay! c: and third... I'M SORRY, YOU WANT OUR PRECIOUS BOY TO BE AROUND SHARKS?!?!? Who keeps this man employed?!?! Idk why but this whole time I thought that everyone would turn into giant talking pigeons lol ah well "I realized my mistake! We'll recreate the moment where you fell in love!" ohhh? Like I mentioned earlier, whenever she tries to do something to help Kagami (or someone else) that's when her intentions work out best for her. 😉 One of my favorite things from Style Queen was Plagg and Ladybug working together. Now they're working together again and just... ahhhh I gushed so much at that scene! x3 YESSSSSSS what I've been waiting for! Ladybug can just call Alya now and be like hey, I need your help! And Alya can just be like okay cool, and either goes to her room to get the Miraculous herself, or finds her and gets the Miraculous. So cool! Of course, I'll be most excited if she ever gets to just keep it on her, but... baby steps. Rena did a phenomenal job speaking as both Ladybug and Chat Noir lol. She's such a fan of them both, she knows just how they are around each other. Oh, oh no. We're trapped against a wall by a few pigeons. Looks like our only option is to give up and remove our Miraculous and reveal our identities. Are you seriously buying that, Gabriel? Plagg's like HELLO I'll be taking this! Alya did everything from inside Marinette's room. Ladybug was trapped in that room at the pool the entire time. All it took for this akuma to be defeated was Illusion that can be done from anywhere and Plagg getting the object off Mr. Pigeon. That's amazing! Also, this is the first time Ladybug didn't have to actually see things around her to know what to do. She just focused and thought about it. o.o Okay so hold up. Thanks to Alya, Marinette now knows she can create charms to protect past akuma victims and keep them from getting reakumatized, which is wonderful. I love how much of an impact Alya knowing is having! BUT How exactly does Monsier Rat come about then if he has a charm to protect him??? 🤔🤔🤔 I really like how her drive to want to figure things out was

especially because Mr. Ramier's been akumatized so many times, and she wanted to help him from having to continue to go through that. "This girl is truly Miraculous" awww cute how he got to just watch that this time.

I screamed at this moment because I knew. Since Origins, we have not seen this exact sky. Even during rainy scenes like in Chat Blanc or New York, they didn't look like this. YES, Kagami knows that the way Marinette feels about Adrien shows how much she loves him, but she knows she doesn't feel that way about Adrien too. And "You're right, Adrien is perfect... perfect for you." With a smile and everything! Awwwwww! This acceptance, and the Marinette and Kagami friendship in this episode is really, really good! 😭 "Wow, have you kept it [the umbrella] all this time?" She sure wasn't expecting that!! But wow Adrien, you noticed? Then Coup de Foudre happens again. Yeah, this girl is never getting out of her feelings for him.

Of course she's having trouble with her words still, but that's okay. But she's like oh, I'll give it back, and he just pushes it to her and says she'll need it to get home... unless she'd like a ride with him. AND SHE ACTUALLY ACCEPTED AND WRAPPED HER ARM AROUND HIS OMG.

To then only have the umbrella close on BOTH of them!

AND THEN ASKS IF HE WANTS TO WALK INSTEAD BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE UMBRELLA! She's come so far! And the sheer disappointment when he remembers he can't because of his Chinese lesson :/ And then, because he can't not be looking at Marinette, he hits the back of his head on the car, making himself look silly, just like in Origins she made herself look silly. This time she laughs, and he laughs with her. And it's literally Umbrella Scene 2.0 and it's absolutely everything.

DORKS ❤️❤️❤️ "They are made for each other." awwwww instead of Master Fu, this time it's Kagami. And she sounds very okay with that, that's so nice. "Let's not wait for the storm to pass, but let's dance in the rain." Then proceeds to dance in the rain!

Ahhh what a refreshing, good episode after how much she's been struggling and crying! So lovely! Her friendships with Alya and Kagami were really strong in this episode, her doing her best to help her friend with the guy she herself has always liked, and then Kagami was the one that wasn't really into it, and it made both girls realize that Marinette loves Adrien and is the one best for him, not Kagami. And I'm pretty sure this episode helped Adrien to open his eyes to Marinette more too. At least, this is the beginning of that, anyway! Alya's such a tremendous help to Ladybug now, which is everything. I do wonder if more friends will very slowly start to find out her identity and they end up contributing more to bringing down Hawk Moth, so she really, really isn't alone like she once thought. I don't really have any complaints about this episode at all! Just a bit sad we had no actual Chat Noir, but we got Ladybug and Plagg from it, so it's fine with me! x3 I know some may see it as "Chat Noir isn't necessary, how dare they do this to him!" but no, he's very necessary, sometimes he just can't be there and she can't do it alone. You have to remember how much Chat Noir means to Ladybug, and that she wouldn't even BE Ladybug if it weren't for Chat Noir! I'm really curious now about what episode 5 is, since now we've gotten Episodes 1-4, 6, we're getting 7,8, and 13 later, and we've already gotten 11. Filling in the gaps for the first half of the season! This entire week is going to be crazy with the new episodes, and for each one I'll be writing one of these posts for, so be on the look out for them!
