This is a really good app for TOPIK prep, or for people who just want a daily study app! It’s called FunPik and is free on both iOS & android!
PROS:
Mock tests (reading section only) for both TOPIK I & II with a built-in timer
Daily challenges; perfect if you just want to do a few minutes of studying without wasting time deciding what & how to study
3 different games: identify a photo, choose the missing word in a sentence, and unscramble a sentence (honestly the timer on these can make it pretty difficult, but it's a good goal to work towards)
Explanations!!! When you check which questions you got wrong, there's a short explanation about why the correct answer is correct (seriously, why doesn't every TOPIK app have this?)
The youtube channel...okay, technically not part of the app itself, but it links to the 펀픽 channel where you can watch short lectures about how to answer different questions and other study tips. The focused lectures are a more recent addition, so I hope they'll be adding more videos in the future~
Analysis of your progress, including how well you do on different types of questions, an estimation of how close you are to your target level, and how you spend your time in the app
Gameification for motivation~ Get those coins and study streaks! The coins are used to buy "historical relics" which gives you a random photo & description of various landmarks and things around Korea. Adds a little bit of history & culture learning!
CONS
I wish it had a friends list to add to the game aspect and be more competitive/supportive. You can see a ranking list of all users, but I don't care about random strangers lol
The sentence games are too hard for me (not enough time to think, need to be able to immediately answer if you want to finish/do well) and there's no way to adjust the level or turn off the timer. I don't know if the game levels change if you set your target TOPIK level lower
No listening section
No writing, but that’s kinda understandable since it'd need a person to score your writing
Overall, I highly recommend checking it out! If you're preparing for the TOPIK and need the extra nudge to study a bit more every day, this app would be perfect. And even if you aren't planning to take the exam anytime soon, this would be a quick & easy way to study during your commute or before bed!

For Korean learners, especially those studying for the TOPIK exam, I really recommend this channel! It goes over mostly reading questions from past TOPIK papers, nicely presenting the content one sentence at a time at a really nice pace so that there's no need for pausing even. Clean and simple!!
Mostly for intermediate to advanced, I suppose, but maybe helpful regardless :)

I'm finally back studying korean. I'm planning on taking the topik exam this year so i have started preparing for that. If someone has already taken the exam I would appreciate any tips or resources (especially if they're free lol)!
I also have to take the toefl this year, so i should start seriously studying for that as well. I still haven't found the best schedule to fit everything in, but i'm trying my best!

Pertemuan
Tumblr media

I was searching for some grammar stuff and stumbled upon this Korean textbook (e-book) designed specifically for self-studying!
It’s from EPS (the employment permit system), which has their own Korean proficiency exam for foreign workers. The EPS-TOPIK is pretty different from the regular TOPIK, but this textbook seems like a really great resource! It starts with Hangul and then covers a whole bunch of grammar patterns while also teaching cultural stuff. There’s a lot of industry-related vocabulary and phrases because it’s designed for migrant workers in Korea, but even if those sections aren’t personally relevant, the grammar is still useful!
(I also think a lot of people don’t realize/forget that the majority of foreigners who live in Korea aren’t teaching English or working white collar office jobs; they are working in industrial factories and agriculture, often in shitty conditions. This textbook gives a glimpse into the hiring process and the kinds of situations migrant workers need to prepare for.)
Also it’s free!

A Note About TOPIK Registration in Korea
A Note About TOPIK Registration in Korea
I hope everyone in Korea is surviving the typhoon well enough today. Today is the first day of registration for the 85th TOPIK (in Korea). The last time (a year ago?) I tried to register for TOPIK, it wasn’t even the last day of the registration period and EVERY SINGLE available location for TOPIK II was already filled! (Except Jeju, which had a few spots left – but I had no capacity to take an…

As my language exams are approaching, i have been doing some toefl and topik I mock tests.
For the topik i scored 158, which is enough to get the level i want, but i feel like i still need to improve to be safe.
For the toefl, the first time i scored 43/45 in the reading section and 31/33 in the listening section. The second time around i did 100% in both of them, so i'm feeling pretty confident. For the speaking and writing i can't get a score but i know that the speaking section is the hardest for me so i should focus more on that.
All in all, even though my motivation and confidence fluctuate a lot, i think i'm doing alright. Hopefully i get the results i'm aiming for.
