Watching the new season of The Way of the Househusband anime on Netflix - I totally forgot that he had a fellow ex-Yakuza rival that is... always trying to be better at domesticity than him! XD

-tbh, Tatsu might unconsciously know you’re pregnant before you do; the man has a sixth sense or something. he notices your eating habits change, your sudden dislike of certain smells, etc., but in case something else might be going on, he doesn’t say anything about the things he’s noticed

-yes, Tatsu saw the pregnancy tests you tried to hide from him, but still said nothing. after confirming that you were pregnant, you walk straight out of the bathroom to the kitchen where Tatsu is arranging dinner: he opens his mouth to announce that the food is ready, but seeing you start to speak, goes quiet

- “Tatsu, I’m...I’m pregnant.”

-Tatsu is taken aback by the sudden declaration, dirty spatula falling from his hand as you see his eyes widen behind sunglasses. sure, he knew something different was going on with your body, but...pregnancy? his DIY books didn’t say anything about pregnancy

-seeing he is unable to move, you rush forward and take his hands, squeezing them tightly in encouragement, needing his formal reaction to this huge news. would he be afraid or stoic? would he be concerned or despondent?

- “Really?” He asks breathlessly, hands shaking slightly in your grip. “Yer really... pregnant?”

-when you smile brightly at him, a silent confirmation, Tatsu loses it, hiding his face in your shoulder as he cries silent tears of joy. the crying soon turns to disbelieving laughter, wondering how a guy like him got so lucky to get a second chance at life, a chance to have a family with the person he loves most

-the worrying will come later, after he’s had time to reflect on his own childhood and young adulthood, but for now, everything in the world is okay. he has you, a lovely home, good friends, and now there’ll be yet another thing for him to love and care for--for Tatsu, there was nothing better than that

-the crying session will be quickly followed by Tatsu doing immediate research on how best to nurture and care for his pregnant s/o, so you better have a pen and notebook at the ready

🐅𝒯𝑜𝓇𝒶𝒿𝒾𝓇𝑜🍰

-Tora finding out his s/o is pregnant could go a few ways, depending on whether or not the pregnancy was planned

-with Tora, you plan how you’re going to tell him, knowing that depending on how his day went, his reaction to your announcement could go either way. you wait until a quiet evening when he returns from slinging crepes, whistling and apparently in a content mood

-although you originally planned your speech, when Tora asks you how your day was, you kind of just blurt it out, stunning him. his eyes go wide, his mouth opens, unable to function for a solid minute as the information sinks in

- “Yer...pregnant? Like...with my kid?” You nod, and he breaks eye contact for a second, staring at the ground with the gears turning inside his brain. the long moment of silence following spikes your anxiety to new heights, unsure what his tense posture means

-it’s possible that with his rough background, Tora thinks having a kid is too dangerous, as he still has many enemies running around from his yakuza life. it’s possible, you think, that he may have some serious reservations about bringing a child into the world...just how strong those reservations might be, you don’t know, and it makes waiting for his reply even more maddening

-suddenly, Tora crushes you into a hug, swooping you into his arms and holding you tightly against his chest. he doesn’t say anything for a long time, just holds you close, a thousand thoughts, both worrisome and joyful rushing through his mind--joy was trying to come out on top, a feeling he wasn’t accustomed to experiencing, but longed desperately for

- “I ain’t good with words,” Tora whispers in your ear. “But I won’t let you down, you or our child--I swear on it. I’ll be a good father.”

- you had no doubts about Tora’s promise, letting him know he didn’t have to be perfect to be a good father, and that you would work it out together. he might have cried, but if Tatsu or anyone else asked, it was only a few tears (it was actually a lot--he secretly always wanted children)

🐕ℳ𝒶𝓈𝒶🥡

-Obviously Masa doesn’t plan anything in his life, so you getting pregnant was a total accident. despite that, you’re actually excited to be having Masa’s baby, barely able to keep it a secret from your friends, because obviously you wanted the father to know first

-when Masa wakes up from another five hour nap after you return from work, you give him the news and he is completely confused, blinking at you slowly while still trying to wake himself up

- “Pregnant? ...But I thought the storks bring babies?” No, sweetie...

-After you give him a detailed explanation of pregnancy and how it happens, Masa jumps to his feet with a burst of energy and understanding, hands going to grab at his hair as his brain catches up with this information. A baby? He’s going to be father? Him? who would’ve thought?

-hugs you wildly and excitedly for several minutes, not even thinking about what a huge weight of responsibility this will be for both of you, only thinking about how happy he is to soon have a child, something he never thought would happen to a “loser” like him

-does he know anything about children or pregnancy? hell no. but that doesn’t stop him from being thrilled, thinking about all the fun things you guys will get to do with your child once they’re born, a family all your own--finally, he’ll have something he can always be proud of (hello househusband!)

-When you ask if he’s worried, Masa hides his anxiety. “No way, babe! Why would I be nervous?! You’ll be a great mom, and I’ll...well, I’ll be the dad! Yeah!”

-Once he thinks about it a little longer...oh yeah. He’ll definitely need to give Tatsu a call ASAP
