The ongoing impact of Brexit is like a political whalefall.
Except instead of the dead remains of a blue whale, it’s the bloated, swollen, fat carcass of some infernal creature not fit for this world, leaking oil and excrement, irradiated into oblivion, occasionally belching smoke, constantly pouring out blood-soaked disease ridden currency, setting rivers on fire and polluting the fuck out of the entire surrounding area leaving it irreparably damaged and riddled with disease for generations.
With NO ecological or scientific benefit whatsoever.
Hazmat crews trying to manage the contamination and contain it. And so on.

I was just viscerally reminded of the number of fucking doctors who were writing long op-eps in late 2020 and early 2021 about how shitty, inadequate and exhausting it was to deal with the NHS over treatment for Long COVID when they
a) didn’t have to deal with structural “oh this Trust doesn’t have a treatment for your disorder because the consultant who had an interest in it retired and we decided we’re just Not Treating it anymore”;
b) didn’t have to deal with their colleagues disbelieving they were actually ill, or that their illness existed because “apparently it’s trendy now”;
c) had contacts and colleagues who would go the extra mile for them in a way they wouldn’t for random patients;
drove me to nearly throwing my phone out of the window more than once.
I do genuinely hope all of them have recovered and have their lives back now because I wouldn’t wish chronic illness on anyone.
However, I can testify that they haven’t made any structural inroads with their colleagues because I spoke to my GP last week about the possibility of trying a treatment for POTS that I’ve heard good things about and was told “well the British Faculty of Cardiologists doesn’t actually recognise POTS as a disorder so I’m afraid we can’t actually refer you to a cardiologist, and you’d need them to sign off on treatment like that.”
“…but it’s a neurological disorder of the autonomic nervous system, and I *was* diagnosed with it by my former GP in the same Trust I still live in.”
“…well, yes, but it mostly *affects* the heart so that’s who we would refer you to if they accepted referrals for it…”
I was genuinely just so gobsmacked I just put the phone down then and there. I had waited three weeks for this phone appointment.
And I do absolutely know this is because the Tories are literally dismantling the NHS, but…I would honestly rather be told “we won’t refer you because this probably won’t kill you and we’re literally putting all our cash into cancer patients because they show up highlighted in our statistics than this labyrinthine Kafkaesque gaslighting I’ve been dealing with for over a decade now.

You know when you don't want to be at school, but you don't want to be at home? And when you don't want to be asleep but you don't want to be awake? And when you want to do everything but do nothing? Or when you want to tell someone everything but at the same time you want to never tell someone something else again? And you want to stuff your face with food but also never want to eat anything again? What the hell do you do with that??

You like to act as if you care about nothing, and if you carry on like that, then you’re going to drown in the abyss you have imagined for yourself.

I'm reporting once again from planet Earth.
Today wasn't so bad. I went out to lunch with my sister and her friends and greeted two of my former university professors, my favorite professors specifically.
It's a little strange to me that they consider me an engineer, while to me that title makes me feel like an impostor, especially when I haven't been able to practice my career due to falling into depressive episodes time and time again. It's just a vicious circle. I know that feeling like an impostor is partly normal and partly due to depression and borderline personality disorder, but being aware of it doesn't prevent me from feeling a lump in my throat and a stone in my chest for feeling like an impostor.
I also hurt my middle finger, partly accidentally and partly my fault. I think in the midst of feeling like an impostor, I started scraping the edges of my nail, which ended up causing the skin to come off, so now I have a bandage on.
The day isn't over yet; I just hope the night isn't a hellish one. I'll say goodbye for now, hoping everything is fine wherever you are.

Over 13 years of the Tories but the media still blame Labour for why this country is like this despite the fact that they've never held office since 20 fucking 10

Who the fuck thinks it’s a good idea to privatise emergency services?!
Apart from stupid Tories and terminally divorced tech bros.
“No, really. It’ll work this time!” - Capitalism.
I feel SICK!
“The Free Market Fire Department!
We’ll stop your house from burning down, but only if you pay a small fee of $500 and sign this contract.”
“But I don’t have $500.”
“Then you’re just gonna have to fucking die!”
Ghastly shit.
Perish the thought!

Idk maybe it's naive but when it comes to voting it's just, like, if the left wing divide and the right wing don't then we're getting a right wing leader. Sure, you can talk of deposing the whole system but you're not actually doing that. Instead, you're just assuring that you've got an actually evil person running your country. Labour's a joke. But if the Tories keep running the UK we're fucking dying. They're actively tearing down climate change policies and human rights and if Labour retain any the Tories don't then that's a win!
Rn we have very little power but we have some to prevent the worse case scenario.
Sure, don't vote for Biden beacuse you're conflicted. Trump supporters aren't so conflicted. Then condemn everyone in the US and everyone the US has influence over to another Trump presidency where he's trying to ruin things for everything but himself. People are going to keep dying but at an even faster rate!
I'm not naive to how harmful 'left-wing' politicians are, but I'm not naive to how harmful right-wing politicians are either, and isn't it selfish to be parading a viewpoint that damage control is inferior to utterly theoretical moral superiority? Do you think, politically, that you'll get your perfect leader, especially when the plan is to stay out of the system altogether? Get into local government and campaigns then!

the fact that some people in this shithole country genuinely believe that deporting refugees to rwanda is more justified than letting trans people choose their gender perfectly sums up how disgusting politics here is
