langblr (re)introduction
¡Hola! Since I started a new language journey, I decided to change my image and do a reintroduction!
Relevant info about me:
Aciir is the name I go by on the internet
(Mexican) Spanish is my native language
I’m in my last semester of my degree (pedagogy)
Main: @ardenenearde
“esperando las tortillas” [waiting for the tortillas] is my queue tag. You know… because you’re in the queue… for the tortillas…
Languages:
I got certified in English level B2 at the end of highschool, but I guess now I’m C1.
I'm currently learning German because I'd like to live and work in Germany or some other country that speaks that language in the future. I'm still on level A0.
I think I’m level A2 transitioning to B1 in Brazilian Portuguese.
LSM (Mexican Sign Language) is something I really want to study but I always find excuses.
I’m interested in minority languages and I also think conlangs are very cool :))
Interests and hobbies:
LINGUISTICS!!! This is something I’ve always loved but never realized until I was in college. And don’t get me wrong, I love my degree and don’t plan to change it, but when I finish, studying linguistics or smth related is definitely a possibility! (ipaaciir comes from IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet) and my internet name)
History and anthropology. This is a passion I developed during my first year of college and it’s a class I would love to teach.
I also enjoy embroidery and sewing.
Podcasts. I haven't listened to many episodes this past year but I hope I can this year. Some of my favorites are Lingthusiasm, Field Notes, Linguistics Everyday, Life on Side B, Hablemos Arte, and The Cult of Pedagogy.
Arts and design. I actually wanted to study graphic design before I realized I like education way more.
Job:
I currently work as an online private English teacher. It has helped me a lot to improve my skills and get better at teaching languages.
I want to study a diploma course in the teaching of Spanish as a second language. This is because I want to work as a Spanish teacher here in my country or abroad.
Slowly preparing for an actual job. My goal is to get one in my field by the end of the year.
Some blogs I follow:
@theloveoflanguage
@langsandlit
@etymology-findings
@stepstofluency
@ravenlesslangblr
@aro-langblr
@thatswhywelovegermany
@languageslibrary
@fremder-freund
@lalala-languages
If you know more german (active) blogs I'd love to hear of them (I'm begging)

Cueillette de Dalton
C'est la fin des tortillas pour les Dalton. Ils sont si épuisés qu'ils fuient comme des canards sans tête pour se retrouver finalement (et littéralement) au pied du mur.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

Rules: Tag 10 people you want to know better.
I was tagged by the lovely @shadow-pixelle!
Relationship status: Oh, single. Asexual and I like my own space too much.
Favorite color: Oh, hell. Yellow. Orange. Forest green. The color of a new sprout when I manage to bring a half-dead plant back to life.
Favorite food: Okay, this is my Most comfort food. Fry up some mushrooms, just use pre-minced garlic, butter, and sprinkle on some salt and pepper. Dried oregano is optional but I like it. Toss some cheap shredded mozzarella on a tortilla (GF wrap, celiacs unite) and melt it in the microwave for one minute. Spread the mushrooms onto the tortilla, fold it over, and boom. Delicious, and requires just enough effort to shake me out of a brain fog.
(Yes, I know this didn't ask for a recipe. Yes, I'm giving you one anyways.)
Song currently stuck in head: Chasing Rainbows by The High Kings. I like songs with a faster beat (so if anyone has any recs...)
Last thing I Googled: "dark mode for google docs". Listen. I was Struggling.
Time: At the time of writing, 10:38pm, and so help me this is when you're getting it. I've never touched the queue function in my life and I don't intend to start now.
Dream trip: Man, I've got extended family in the UK. I have not been to see them in nearly five years- a combination of finances and, well, the global pandemic. I have two new baby cousins I haven't met yet. I would... very much like to see them all soon.
Something I want: NGL, saving up for some cool tank tops from Nerdy Keppie. It's too bloody hot outside to be wearing anything with actual sleeves.
For people I want to know better... no-pressure tags for @themonopolyhat and @jedi-enthusiast, and I will follow @shadow-pixelle's lead and open it up to anyone who wants to join!

Finisterre
It was an odd trip to Finisterre today, or Fisterra as it is in Spanish.
It all started with breakfast, or lack of it. We walked to the bus station with plenty of time to spare with the idea of having breakfast in the station cafe. It was heaving with pilgrims, all with their large backpacks on being swung around in not much space. We managed to get a table once we worked out it was table service then sat and waited, and waited. Eventually our order was taken, two Americanos one of which is decaf, two croissants. The coffees came but it took more chasing to find out which was the decaf, then only one croissant came. There was no option but to share it, neither of us had brought snacks and it was a long journey ahead, just over 2 hours.
We then went to the bus stand to find lots and lots of pilgrims queuing and milling about. Laura was just in front of us as she was going for a night in a nice airbnb. The bus pulled up and the driver looked worried at the number of people. Someone went down the line counting then they let on those with tickets. There was a bit of ‘oi, there’s a queue here’, but we got on OK. After counting the number of spare seats and letting a few more on we eventually got away 15 minutes late.
The journey was pleasant through the countryside, and when we got our first glimpse of the sea the German lady in the seat opposite clapped with excitement!
We got to Fisterra about half 11, and wandered down towards the harbour. There was a lot of work going on so it was a bit noisy. We were starving by then and only wanted a bar that served tortilla but all we could find were seafood restaurants.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
We stopped at one for the smallest coffee ever then wandered on around to a small beach.
Tumblr media
Just above the beach was a supermarket so we got bits to make a picnic and sat on the beach eating it, initially in the sun until it got too hot then huddled against a cliff wall in a bit of shade.
Tumblr media
We weren’t terribly impressed by Fisterra at that point.
The lighthouse at the end of the peninsular is a traditional ending to the Camino, you can’t go any further as you are at ‘the end of the earth’. It’s a few miles from the village so after lunch we walked up through the village passing some very chilled out cats and took the track which runs alongside the road. The road was quite busy with coaches and cars, and there were quite a few people walking the path too. At the top is the lighthouse and a small complex with loos and a bar.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over the edge just past the lighthouse was a cross and an altar where people had left behind things from their Camino.
Tumblr media
It was a hot day so we stopped at the bar for a drink and an ice cream before walking back down to the beach passing the pilgrim statue on the way.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had also come to swim, so that’s what we did. My pants and sports bra were all black to I could just about get away with swimming in my undies, and Jane went in in a t shirt and short leggings. Boy was it cold! But very fresh and a great experience.
We chilled on the beach for an hour waiting for everything to dry out and I went looking for sea glass as the beach had plenty.
It was time to pack up and we wandered back a different way through the village. It’s an odd combination of modern buildings mixed with old streets. We stopped for a drink but couldn’t get any food so found out where the bus would be stopping then wandered on again to find a cafe where we wolfed down a couple of pastries. As we were finishing the bus arrived and we got on with the same bus driver as this morning. About an hour into the journey the driver put the aircon on full so we started to get cold. About half hour from the end, in a busy town, he announced a 5 minute stop. We’re sure he was tired and needed a coffee stop.
We got back safe, walked back to the flat stopping for some bits in the supermarket, and are now all packed and ready to go in the morning.

Coffee Tour at Doka Farm
In the morning I was treated to a very early, very cold shower in temperatures that were definitely not the 30 degrees of Jaco! I packed my day bag quietly for my tour and then sat in the main living room where there was a little cat curled up asleep that I must not have noticed last night. The driver was right on time for pick up and I was the first person so had my pick of the seats, although he asked me to sit right behind him. I sat there until we arrived at the next hotel for pick up but it was too cold and windy there to do it all day! It was cool to see the city of San Jose wake up and come alive at 6am as we drove through the streets to pick up all the tour participants. Everyone walking around was carrying an umbrella – it was a 100% chance of rain today, and they seem to trust the forecast! One queue at a bus stop ran all the way down the street, around the corner and down the next street, it was organized mayhem! Our driver introduced himself as our tour guide Max who had his first coffee at 6 months old. He told us that the traffic is crazy in San Jose because 2 million people visit everyday but luckily we were heading out the opposite direction. Once everyone was picked up, our last folks were picked up from an airport hotel, Max gave us the itinerary break down for the day. We’d be spending it in the Alajuela province which is famous for its mango which is unfortunately not in season! Our day began with a visit to Doka coffee farm owned by the Vargas family at 5000 feet. On the drive us Max gave us all the facts about Costa Rican coffee – it’s Arabica only, 95% of Costa Rican coffee is exported to other countries, coffee grown at 3000 feet tastes like citrus and coffee grown at 6000 feet tastes like sweet fruits. Max also told us about how he gets woken up at 4am everyday by his 2 cats Catalina and Nutella – one cat has another house though. As we drove further up into the coffee plantations Max explained how coffee productions is one of the biggest industries for migrant workers from Nicaragua. 200,000 Nicas work in coffee plantations in Costa Rica, another 200,000 work in banana plantations, and 200,000 more in pineapple plantations. These migrants get around $20 a day, which is much better than the $4 a day they would get in agricultural work in their home country just across the border. They are also given housing as part of their employment since they do the work that Costa Ricans are unwilling to do. At the Doka coffee farm, we started with our buffet breakfast where I finally tried gallo pinto on my last full day in Central America! I also piled up my plate with fried plantains, sausage slices, a tortilla and some fruit. They had 3 black coffees on offer, made from their own coffee beans. The standout was the Peaberry which I ended up buying a bag of to take home with me.
Max took us on a tour around the plantation, we first saw the peeling machine that has worked for 160 years without electricity and Max explained how the coffee harvest is synced with the school year so that the teenagers can also come to help pick the cherries when all hands on deck are needed. A sack of Costa Rican green coffee beans, washed, peeled and dried, goes for about $300 but up to $4000. In comparison the average price of a sack of Brazilian robusta beans fetches $100 meanwhile the most expensive sack is a geisha tree specialty from Panama which sold for $200,000. The peaberry is also more expensive as it’s a perfectly formed seed but smaller than average, they need to be handpicked out of the regular seeds. Max explained that the sweetest coffee is grown at the higher altitudes, but the honey process can also lead to sweeter coffee. The honey process involves leaving the greasy layer on the beans rather than letting them ferment to wash it off. When it dries, the honey process will take 12 days to dry the greasy layer too whereas the fermented beans would only take 5 days. The beans are all dumped outside in the sun to dry, with the workers walking through the beans with a rake to move them around for even-drying. After the tour we were led purposefully to the gift shop where I purchased the peabery blend for just $9 as well as some chocolate coated coffee beans for Alanna. We then piled back into the van to our next destination - the Poas volcano.

// I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bothered by the thought of people unfollowing/blocking me if I don't interact with them. yes, I might have followed first, but sometimes I follow other rpers just because I admire their writing, it's not always to write with them.
or there's the nagging that people might do the above because I am low activity everywhere, and don't post when everyone else does. yes I hoard drafts and asks, going through them quite often and picking away at them, writing a sentence or two, sometimes more if I get really inspired, but I don't post, unless I feel very confident with a thread, which happens sometimes. I'm also trying my best to use the queue to help my blogs be more 'active'.
I find it very difficult to send people asks, don't ask my why, I could't say. sure, there are times when the mood strikes and I'm feeling a particular muse of couple of muses, and I'll send a few (maybe 3-5) asks to people I feel extremely okay with sending something to.
having my sideblogs be ask-centric because anon usually makes me hella nervous, and the feeling of sending something from a sideblog with my main blog and not anon makes me iffy, I just put that because I know a lot of other people (not myself) get asks a lot, and it's a standard (if you give and take -- which is a problem for me.)
I'm rambling here, but I feel I should speak up. yes I have my little circle of friends here that I feel okay sending asks to; they know who they are. and when I follow a new blog (maybe one that my mutuals write with,) it's usually because I admire the writing, or I want to try to work up the courage to send the blog something, but am a soggy tortilla who is very indecisive.

Here are some of my top nd and autistic tips for Disney world:
- YOU ARE DESERVING OF HELP. IF THERE IS ANY WAYS THE PARKS AND THEIR EMPLOYEES CAN HELP YOU ASK FOR THAT HELP. if you need a quiet space, ask. If you want to (and you should) use the das system ask for it. You are worthy. You do not need to struggle.
- Get the disability access service. You may not notice it, but the queues are slowly wearing you down to your breaking point. Remember, you are deserving and worthy and you do not need to struggle
- WEATHER STUFF; broad rimmed hat, high quality poncho(I stress high quality), spare pair of socks, quick drying shoes, sunglasses, cooling towel, fan. This is more general but feeling damp could be the sensory nail in the coffin
- if you are overwhelmed, tired, lost, confused, any degree of uncertainty or discomfort; go watch a show. It is a controlled, less overwhelming, air conditioned environment to sit down. And who doesn't love the country bear jamboree?
- seek out quiet spots; I recommend the winter section of sunshine seasons.
- remember to drink water and eat salts. You will sweat and this could unknowingly make you struggle. I recommend bringing tortilla chips, and because the water in the parks tastes like a swamp I also recommend a water filter bottle.
I might remember more but I hope this helps!

✨the queue✨: a guide
the queue is great! it's helpful if you want to post regularly or if you have lots of posts you want to reblog but don't want to do all at once.
you can queue posts by either a) clicking the reblog button > clicking the arrow next to it once it opens the page where you can add comments > selecting 'add to queue'; or
b) going into settings > clicking on the part that says 'labs' (where tumblr has new features they're working on) > turning on 'fast queue' (this adds a new icon next to the 'reply' and 'reblog' icons where you basically reblog a post but 'add to queue' is the default).
and why would i want to post regularly, you ask? well, the more you post (and the more diverse posts you have), the more likely it is for your posts to reach more people. accurate tags help with this, too. it also helps if you need to post at a consistent schedule for whatever reason, but can't always log on at the same time every day.
if you want to queue your posts at more random times, go into labs and turn on 'queue 2.0'. this enables a more detailed way to schedule your queued posts. i had to play around with it before i found something i liked, and i suggest you do too.
that's it

Day trip to Barcelona
After our morning coffee we headed off for a swim only to find the pool isn’t open until 10am. Never mind, back to Tessi for breakfast.
This morning we caught the bus into Barcelona. It takes about 30-40 minutes depending on the traffic (I’m sure in bad traffic it could take an hour). Once in Barcelona our first stop was the lawyers to get the last bit of paperwork I need for my identification card.
Our one and only job done we went in search of the tapas bar that was recommended to us last night by one of the waiters in the bar at the campground. I was a bit worried we were going to be too early but when we got there, there were only 2-3 tables left.
The food was great, good honest Spanish cuisine and their cava was pretty good too. Now I usually like my tortillas plain, I figure why mess with perfection. But today we had one with chorizo. It was fresh cooked and delicious, the paprika from the chorizo all through the potato, delicious.
By the time we left there was a queue out on the street to get in. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing some shopping interspersed with the occasional coffee on ice. It was about 31 degrees here today, which in a city with all the traffic is pretty uncomfortable. We weren’t unhappy when it was time to catch the bus back.
Back at the campground we were soon in the pool cooling off. After a drink at the bar and moderate nibbles at Tessi, Jose cooked a delicious steak on our new bbq - thank you Decathlon.
