Houston!
Hey folks. If you hadn’t already figured out via Flickr or instagram, I’m in Houston, Texas. We’re down here to visit Emee’s family for Thanksgiving, though due to the expense and nightmare of traveling right at the holiday, we came early (Thursday) and are actually leaving on Thanksgiving Thursday. Now Houston is definitely not a first choice destination for me—sprawly cities in the Southeast…

We met Gabriel Amarlic under Charles bridge. He was making drawings for his travelogue sketch book and we were there to play some street music. The multiplayer happened spontaneously.

Travelouge; A Sweet Touch of Sea Breeze
Time check, it's 5 o'clock in the morning the sun isn't rising yet and I'm still feeling the cold of dawn. Today is September 14 year 2019, one of the day I'm waiting for so that the smile plastering on my face is irrepressible, the first thing I did since I open my eyes this morning even though I knew that I'm already late. Well yeah, you've read it right, I'm literally late on my so called 'one of the most awaited day in my life' but nevermind, it won't erase the smile on my lips and the happiness I'm feeling right now, other than that it's not new to me being late, people are used to it as well as me, am very used to it like it's already engraved on my system but of course I'm working on it, well I don't want someday to be late on my own wedding, HAHAHA just kidding.
Hmm y'all might be thinking what's so special about this day, y'all might be wondering why I am so happy for this day has come so let me tell you a very short story, today is the day that isn't yesterday but isn't the day after tomorrow too HAHAHHA ooopps I'm just kidding again I know it's lame and nonsense but could you please just let me? You know I'm trying so hard to make this travelogue interesting even though I knew in myself that no one cares, HAHAHA choour. So let's go back to the reality, it's FunRun2k19 organized by Senior High School I and it's my first time to attend this kind of event. You might be thinking that I'm exaggerated coz 'Hello it's just a fun run ghorl' 'Fun run? Huh? What so special 'bout that?' 'You are that happy because you'll be a part of fun run? Or it is because it's your first time to join the said event for your whole existence in this world?' Well yeah it's really my first time to attend such a event like this but actually, I'm not looking forward on it because for me it's just a way, a perfect one to achieve one of my goal together with my squad, and that is to bring them on my home.
If it's just me, I won't join but because everyone is required to participate then what else I can do huh? I've got no choice but to participate and prepare my self for body pain especially the lower parts of my body due to long loong looong time of running, eh walking rather coz I'm here now with my special friends (because they're special child) walking under the very very hot sun.
Tumblr media
As I've said, I'm going to be late but the great part here is I'm not the only one, my friends are all late too and when we arrived on the meeting place, everyone is gone sign that we're so effin late. But anyways it's not a problem coz we're not into it actually, it's alright for the all of us because we're not going to associate and mingle with others (you know, it isn't in our nature) and the real reason why we've joined is to travel through our shoes only on the way to BALAYTIGUE, my home.
My home place is really far from the district so my friends are not capable to go with me whenever we want to plus the truth that they have a strict parents where they have no approval to go with me. Even though their parents know me, it's still no for them to let their child go with me, and they're totally opposite of my parents. It's not that they're not trusting me, they are just wanna keep their children safe so that we came up to this situation. Fun run is just for cover up but our real agenda is to go to our place without the permission of their parents and luckily the route of the said event is half of the way to my home place, you can say that they escaped but it's kinda exciting. And it's true that you'll feel the real happiness through breaking rules.
Tumblr media
'WELCOME TO BRGY. BALAYTIGUE'
finally, after almost 4 hours of walking with a little bit of running, we're now on my home place. Mama is so pleased to meet my friends, and guess what? We're so lucky today I thought that bringing my squad here is the highlight of this day but I am wrong, my Papa decided to have our lunch on beach (Imas) so that I can tour my friends at least one of the beach (Imas) here and so that our long journey along here is worth it.
I together with my squad, Mamsikells and two younger brothers are waiting for my Pudrakells to arrive here in Labak. Oh shoot! I forgot to tell you something, well I guess it is important for yah to know. This one is awesome and exciting and I am very excited to try this one with them. Hmm wanna guess what it is? Ahm there's something popping on your mind right here and now right? Or left? HAHAHHA oppss just kidding again and again and again, okay okay I'll better shut my mouth now before I impersonate Zeinab Harake and greet you all with 'wassup Zebbies' HAHAHA okaaay laaame I'll better really stop huh. Sooo, what was I talking about earlier before Zeinab's spirit take my body? Chouur HAHAHA Okay I'm gonna stop because we all know that Zeinab is very very far from me. Hmm alright as I'm saying, we're waiting for my father and it is because he offered his boat on us, he asked us if we wanna ride a boat through our journey to our destination and of course that's a blessing and who are us to say no? Yeah we didn't think twice and we didn't hesitate to say YES!
I can see a boat approaching towards our direction and it is maneuvered, of course no other than my father. Well I know that most of my friends haven't ride a boat before and as a friend it's my pleasure to let them experience one of their 'first time thing to do in life'. I can see how their eyes glimmers with excitement when they saw and heard the noise produced by the boat and seeing them happy makes my heart feel something because I knew in myself that this long journey will be appreciated and worth it. I can sense their fear too, first timer remember?
As soon as we get on a boat and as soon as we sail on the blueish water of the ocean, I can feel that the fear they are feeling are slowly fading as the sea breeze slowly covering our bodies. As the minutes passed and as we play with the waves, the surrounding filled by our laughter and I am very happy for I take this amazing journey with them. This experience is awesome and really worth to remember.
While we're arriving and reaching our destination the wind never left, still relentlessly blowing, the sea breeze refreshing during the beautiful setting of the sun.
Seriously, I've been here at Imas for the nth time but being here now together with my friends and family is so much overwhelming. The feeling I am feeling right now is in different level, it is stronger and I am captivated by the beauty of this place wherein more defined now that I am with them.
The breeze blowing toward the land from the sea and I can feel the sweet touch of sea breeze.

TRAVELOUGE                                                  Lake Holon                                         by: Mary Angelyn Villa
I felt the caress of the wind hitting my body. When I woke up, I saw the shelves at the foot of my bed, shelves that are now filled with various pictures. Overwhelming memories came rushing back. But, what really took my attention was the photo of me with my siblings, a picture  that was taken on the 29th  of March in the year 2019, when we recklessly climbed the hidden gem located in the Municipality of T’boli, the Lake Holon or also known as Mt. Melibengoy.
I remember very well that as we entered the town, beautiful scenery and the cold climate opened up to us. I smiled as I looked out of the car window and saw the green mountains around me, rivers that seemed to light up the town  because of its  brilliance, the speeding motorcycles and the sweet smiles from the people living in the town of T'boli.
Afterwards, we first went to the Tourism Office located in the town, where we waited for the one to take us to the town of Salacafe. Fun fact is that only through a skylab ride alone is the most effective way to reach the area because of the rocky, steep, and narrow road. Upon our arrival in the small town of Salacafe, we received smiles and greetings. The trip from the town proper to the small town of Salaface took about an hour so we decided to rest. When it was time for us to hike, a little orientation was done for us to be reminded of things to worry about, things to consider and things to do and should not do. As we left the orientation area, I was surprised when one of the women in T’boli offered a prayer for a safe journey.
The hike has not been easy, I would always ask "Why did I come again?" "Why are we doing this?". I was so tired and my motivation to continue was gone. Maybe it be due to fatigue, hunger, thirst or with the repeated slips, loss of balance, and cut I got while climbing. There was a part of me that just wants to give up and stop but can't because we have come a long way. Giving up has become useless.
Four hours. We spent four hours of travel and climbing to reach and see only what the province is so proud of but before we could reach the top, it was necessary to cross the narrow, muddy, rocky roads. The journey was scary and fascinating. Frightening in a way we don’t know what is around us, a snake might appear and just bite because we are in the middle of a forest full of towering bushes, and trees. Fascinating because it is very rich in minerals, treasures,  fresh air, natural wonders and plants and animals that you can only find there.
In the middle of our trip, we came across a small community living in the middle of nature where farming and hunting are the only way of living. A community where nature rules. Passing the small community, it took about 2 hours to reach Station 4 or the view deck at Lake Holon where also nearby is a wide and thick rock known as the ‘Kissing Stone’ which according to the story of our tour guide and of the people,  there shall be eternity in one’s relationship if you kiss the rock with your loved one. There will only be ‘eternity’ if it's your first time climbing and kissing the rock. I was amused  by the story I heard. After meditating, taking pictures of each other on the view deck  and an hour of hiking and walking, we finally reached the campsite. I was amazed at the breathtaking view of the lake itself.
The lake is simply beautiful from where you look at it. And even though there are many campers in the area, the place is very quiet and peaceful, I can still hear the faint sound of water from the lake and the chirping of birds. Tired? Who? None of us bothered to rest. Based on the story, lake Holon was caused by the destruction of Mt. Melibengoy in 1641. The lake was known as the “Cleanest Inland Body of Water in the Philippines” for two consecutive years, 2003-2004.
The stillness of the lake was so captivating that it seemed to entice me to stay longer. I feel as if my spirit has been further enlivened by staying at Mt. Parker. As I toured around, I realized the lake was surrounded by mountains. The story of a local is that fifteen protectors or guardians surround the lake. Lake Holon is protected by 15 guardians. As of now, there are fifteen peaks around the crater that represent the guardians of the lake.
As we prepared for our departure, we witnessed the gathering of the T’boli to sing praises and thanksgiving to God. I was happy to see the men and women of T'boli, and some guests, joining as one to give thanks to Heaven. My heart swelled when a woman from T’boli prayed aloud to God and said, “Thank you, Lord, for all the visitors you have sent here to Lake Holon.” It is amazing to know that someone is thanking the Lord for being in their home.
My siblings and I left a few hours after Thanksgiving. The last time I looked at the lake, I felt as if nature had kissed me. I have felt comfort.
Throughout the journey, it is important to keep in mind to have motivation and focus. Also keep in mind that if you are traveling to a place where you do not know or lack knowledge about, it is important to have observations especially in their culture or the place itself because by observing, you will learn a lot about your environment. Make the most of every hour. Also make the most of the time and opportunity you have to travel because not everyone has the opportunity to travel. Keep in mind that as you travel you become more aware of yourself and the world around you

Travelouge: Rizal Shrine in Dapitan City
Tumblr media
Summer was coming so my family agreed to travel to have some fun. We were taking a tour at Rizal Shrine, Dapitan which is located in Zamboanga Del Norte Region. Although this place is not included in Philippine's top tourism destination, it is surprisingly rich in historical treasures and natural attractions. The Rizal Shrine is two kilometres from Dapitan City Plaza and known as one of the tourist spots in Zamboanga Del Norte because of the 16 hectare land in Talisay which our national hero, Dr. Jose Protacio Mercado y Alonso Realonda, purchased during his exile period and is now converted into a national park. It was really a long journey to reach Dapitan City coming from Ozamiz City. I think it’s actually four hours to reach Dapitan Rizal Shrine in Barangay Talisay. When we finally arrived, I felt really excited upon seeing the entrance when we entered the park. I can say that the park is a cool shady place surrounded by century old trees in which some are even older than Dr. Rizal himself.
Tumblr media
The entire park atmosphere is invigorating and it is also clean and well maintained. The place is perfect for nature lovers because of the preserved original beauty of nature. When you stroll around the firsts structure, what will catch your attention is the Casa Residencia, the resident house of Rizal and the biggest house that was built in Rizal Shrine. When I entered Casa Residencia, I saw one bedroom with a bed and a photo of Dr. Jose Rizal. You can also see the health house built by Rizal which is called Casitas de Salud. They say it was made for the people that was far from the municipality. There is also a square house which was the dormitory of Rizal’s pupils and it was said that the underneath of the square house was their workshop area. Sitting at Rizal’s workshop where his students practiced carpentry felt like I’m one of his students too. Rizal also built a clinic, the Casa Redonda.
Tumblr media
In history, it is said that George Taufer, the foster father of Josephine Bracken, had his eye operation done by Dr. Rizal. There are many unique and amazing structures that you will discover inside the shrine's grounds. At the end of the shrine you will find and be amazed by a rock which occupied a prominent space in the shrine only to know that it was the “Mi Retiro Rock”, Rizal’s retreat rock and prominently mentioned in Rizal’s memoirs. It was said that the rock was named after his poem "Mi Retiro" where Rizal wrote the first stanza while sitting on this rock. It is also called the lovers rock as it was the favourite spot of Josephine and Rizal as they spent hours watching sunset. There is also a big museum called Rizalliana Museum which was built in 1971. When you enter the museum you can see some artifacts, photos, memorabilia and even the preserve clothes of Rizal. There is also a monument of Rizal that was built on March 8, 1987 by the order of knights of Rizal. My heritage tour to the historic Dapitan is really fun and priceless and there is no way you want to skip the beauty and the natural attraction that will surely make you appreciate and love the beauty of nature and the historic place. A visit to this place probably helped me understand the depths of Rizal’s patriotism and noble service towards our country.
Tumblr media
Exploring each hut makes you go back in history which you can see where our national hero ate, sleep, taught his students and treated patients. In the heritage park you will surely observe the diligent life style led by our national hero through his nipa hut residence, water works, hospital and dormitory that was worth the time money and hard work of our national hero. Discovering and having information of the fruits of Rizal’s four productive years in the field of medicine, agriculture, entrepreneurship, education, engineering, and arts and poetry will surely enhance your knowledge and it is a perfect place for students who study the life of Rizal and people who loves history. Anyway, a trip to Rizal Shrine never disappoints me and everyone, and I really enjoy lots of things. I also now know a little bit about the life of our national hero after the trip.

TRAVELOUGE
Norway officially the Kingdom of Norway, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe whose mainland territory comprises the western and northernmost portion of the Scandinavian Peninsula. The remote Arctic island of Jan Mayen and the archipelago of Svalbard also form part of Norway. Bouvet Island, located in the Subantarctic, is a dependency of Norway; it also lays claims to the Antarctic territories of Peter I Island and Queen Maud Land.
Norway has a total area of 385,207 square kilometers (148,729 sq mi) and had a population of 5,385,300 in November 2020.The country shares a long eastern border with Sweden (1,619 km or 1,006 mi long). Norway is bordered by Finland and Russia to the north-east and the Skagerrak strait to the south, with Denmark on the other side. Norway has an extensive coastline, facing the North Atlantic Ocean and the Barents Sea. The maritime influence also dominates Norway's climate with mild lowland temperatures on the  sea coasts, whereas the interior, while colder, is also a lot milder than areas elsewhere in the world on such northerly latitudes. Even during polar night in the north, temperatures above freezing are commonplace on the coastline. The maritime influence brings high rainfall and snowfall to some areas of the country.
Tumblr media
A tourist attraction best suited for the active traveler thanks to the arduous journey required to get there, Pulpit Rock (Preikestolen) is nevertheless one of the most popular sights in Norway. Located near Stavanger, the destination requires ferry and bus rides and then a two-hour uphill hike to reach the almost perfectly flat-topped cliff, which looks over Lysefjord, more than 600 meters above the water.
Those visiting the Stavanger area will also want to stop by the surprisingly fascinating Norwegian Canning Museum, which is set up as the cannery was during WWII. Stavanger Cathedral is also a top tourist attraction in Stavanger. This 12th-century structure features multiple styles, including a Romanesque basilica, a Baroque pulpit, and a Gothic font.
Location: Rogaland, Norway

For centuries, people had been marveling at the phenomenon of northern lights, attempting to explain them in the ways available to them: through legends, myths, and supernatural forces. Northern lights, or auroras, still represent a source of awe, and many go on special tours designed to provide the observers with the best view of the lights. The purpose of the present paper is to unwrap the mystery surrounding the phenomenon of auroral displays and consider the scientific knowledge that is currently available to understand the northern lights. The first and the second sections of the paper provide the definition and typology of auroras, and the third part examines the places and times of their occurrence. The fourth section considers the known causes of auroral displays, and the final part provides an overview of the cultural and aesthetical significance of the phenomenon. The main conclusion of the paper is that there is a considerable discrepancy between what has been observed about auroras – for instance, their shapes and colors – and what has been researched about them.

Will my 2022 be like my 2012?
Will my 2022 be like my 2012?
Myself and my loaded Surly Long Haul Trucker, ready to depart for my PDX-Oly-Astoria Tour. 30 May 2012 It’s nearing the end of February. I’ve already done one bike camping trip, and am itching to do something soon. And like the last few years, my “work life” will be mixed between part-time stuff with Emee and working for myself. So could this year be a good one for bike touring? And could it…
