Abigail’s rocks are…
Tourmalinated quartz, grape agate, and malachite!

Tourmalinated Quartz: sometimes known as black rutilated quartz, it feels very fitting to Abigail because of how the tourmaline inclusions almost “stab” through the quartz, which to me feels like Abigail’s adventurous side. Overall, tourmaline is very Abigail (have you even SEEN the way it looks raw?? Oh my gosh it’s so her) but tourmalinated quartz just feels a Touch more correct.
Grape Agate: first of all, purple and indigo/blue. Second of all, it’s named like a food, so it’s perfect for her rock-munching habits! Third of all, though it forms in little tiny round bits (which is a stark contrast to the way tourmaline forms), the shape is very unique and unlike any other natural formation. Abigail is incredibly unique in her own right, with her natural purple hair!
Malachite: I’m certain that this one is mostly synesthesia, but there’s something to be said about the way Abigail is often mischaracterized (or at the very least, brought down to “hot goth gf”) and fake malachite is VERY often sold as real. Kinda like mischaracterization, but it’s of a rock!
If you’re curious, I’ll post something about identifying fake malachite vs real malachite because it drives me INSANE how fucking OFTEN people fall for it

Urges to script out a small comic piece as a partial rewrite/reimagining sort for arc 2's epilogue, versus the fact that I will likely never actually finish it...
#I think the peacemaker resolution is actually incredibly interesting#like I know people say it ruined the morals of arc 2 and such but I think it's more fun to meet the narrative where it is like.#really asking the question what does this mean if there is never a chance for the dragon to be turned back?#is this just a type of murder? would people have reacted differently if they had killed darkstalker in a more straightforward manner?#the books like to treat a lot of the magic as a study of a character's relation to identity; e.i tourmaline choosing to become ruby again#because she IS ruby now. we don't get a POV for her so we don't know if she mourns losing her life as tourmaline#but she makes the choice because her life as ruby is much richer. ruby is a mother and tourmaline isn't ruby is queen and tourmaline isn't#I believe tui stated outright that to reverse the peacemaker enchantment would simply result in darkstalker dying altogether#so if there's no way for him to come back...#it's interesting !! it's even more interesting the idea of the after effects on the characters themselves#also I get to live in the reality in which they intend to tell Winter. because god I hate the epilogue for how it shafts him.#they'd tell him !!! they trust him !!! i know this I know them better than Tui did writing that epilogue !!!! believe me please god !!!!#anyway I specifically want to script out a conversation between Kinkajou and Qibli#I think they'd have interesting things to talk about on the matter

So, I noticed in the tags of the Silencioso drawing with Meta Knight, @majestydeerakuma said they wanted to know more soo~
Silencioso (or the Omori/Kirby AU) is an AU in which Meta Knight takes the position of Sunny/Omori. Tourmaline (an oc of mine that I created to be Meta's sister when I was ten, who I'll explain in a different post) takes the position of Mari.
Dedede has Kel's role
Tiff has Aubrey's role
Kirby has Basil's role
And Kahoru (@tessathepeanut 's oc, who let me use her) is Hero!
(Some Kirby bosses also make appearances, but I shan't tell you when! >:3)
If you know Omori, you know how this plays out. Except -without saying too much- it does have a happy ending.
Meta just has to suffer to get it. :3
The story's called "Silencioso" and it's both on Wattpad and Ao3 if y'all wanna read it! Don't be afraid to leave your thoughts on it, as I'm always happy to read them!

Some glowing rocks! It’s surprisingly hard to get a still photo with my UV flashlight, partly because direct light wants to blow out on my phone but the fluorescence fades quickly as it gets less direct. I think these are okay though! I dubbed the first one the “party bowl”

I was getting ready to add my most recent Oc’s to my oc height chart and just realised that Roma (2nd year Pomefiore) is taller than Beryl (3rd year Pomefiore) by like 3-4 inches (Roma is 6ft and Beryl is 5’8 or 5’9”) and now I can’t stop laughing.
Like I’m just imagining Beryl trying to intimidate Roma or something except Beryl is either standing a few feet away from Roma, or the poor boy’s got his head cranked all the way back so he can make eye contact with Roma 💀 Roma totally crouches down to get to “Beryl’s level” like a little shit
Also imagining Roma dropping off flowers for a Heartslabyul tea party and Riddle has to do the same thing…even in his heels.

Would you write male yautja x fem reader where she practices witchcraft?
I feel like your yautja would fall into practice with you fairly easily.
After all, yautja have their own rituals and customs and are a polytheistic culture too.
Give! Him! Rocks!! Give him many shiny rocks he will love them. Tell them what they represent.
Personally I think hed go well with some black tourmaline, brown tigers eye, bloodstone, or amethyst.
Absolutely will join you for any sort of ritual/ceremony you do. Obediently does as you ask the entire time, even if it's just "sit there quietly while I do this".
Talk to him about what deities you work with (if you work with any). He'll love telling you about Paya and Cetanu (plus other gods).
Kinda depends on what sort of witchcraft is your specialty tbh. A couple examples:
Cooking magic? He's down. Mostly because free food.
Nature magic? Also down. He's out in the wilderness enough, it's an easy thing for him to grasp.
He'll probably try to blend some of your beliefs/practices/rituals/behaviors with his own.
Giving a thanks to nature after a kill. Paying attention to moon phases for more reasons than just light levels. Conducting special fire rituals before a hunt.
You rub off on him quite a bit. Honestly you may even notice other yautja around him adopting the same behaviors.
Loves Samhain and Mabon. Good smells, good food, attention to life and death.

Prompt: Jealous Mulder and Scully reassuring him, UST. Thank you!
“Can I die?” she asked him once, dreamy with wine just after Ritter.
“Of course,” he said, broody, not really believing it. He didn’t know which answer he wanted for her.
She’d smiled at him with lushly purpled lips, the way she is now in upstate New York, in Ellicottville, where they’re undercover and investigating an art gallery owner for money laundering. She’s wearing a strapless blue silk dress right now and it swirls around her ankles like the sea at night.
People look at her the way some wolves must have looked at fire once. They understand that there is warmth in her, that there is light. That she can burn and burn and burn without being consumed.
He can’t. He feels himself being used up, hollowing out inside from his own cold, unquenchable flame. Gouging, he thinks, because he is a profiler.
Lumenizing, he thinks, because Scully is a doctor.
The gallery owner has been eye-fucking Scully for four days and Mulder is growing weary of it. He’s doing it right now, at this vineyard, where he’s pretending to be surprised to see them even though he recommended it.
Scully laughs a little, flirts a little the way she’s gotten better at doing. Shows her beautiful white throat. The gallery owner smiles at her, enchanted by her tourmaline eyes, her burnished hair.
“Excuse us,” she says after a few moments. Steers Mulder towards a side table with the press of her slim fingers on his arm.
They burn too, through his clothes.
She swallows the rest of her wine in a gulp. “What an asshole,” she remarks, peering back over her shoulder.
“Hitting on my wife in front of me is a bold move,” he observes, even though it’s the point of this little game they’re playing out.
Scully waggles her fingers so that the ring catches the light. “Maybe you should be a touch more possessive,” she suggests, her voice just past throaty.
He looks at her, then past her out the window. “That you talking or Mrs. Daphne Tillyard?”
“What do you want?” There’s so much in the question.
He shakes his head. Jerse, Van Blundht, Padgett, this idiot and a hundred other idiots. He wants their audacity, their risk tolerance. He wants her toothy smile, wants to kiss her without the threat of sorrow or damnation.
“Scully I-“
“Daphne.”
“Daphne.” He reaches out, runs a finger down her temple, over her cheekbone. He stops at the corner of her mouth. Her pupils dilate, her lips part.
“Mulder,” she whispers, husky. Her tongue is visible. She leans her cheek into his palm. “He’s not… it isn’t real.”
They could do this. It’s been brewing, fermenting for years and maybe tonight, maybe here, he can let himself do what he couldn’t even after the fungus.
He thumbs her chin, watches her searching eyes a beat longer. “Leo,” he corrects. He brushes her hair from her eyes and walks out to the back deck alone.

Appalachian Witchcraft for Beginners: Review
Tumblr media
This is: Appalachian Witchcraft for Beginners: The History, Remedies, and Spells of a Rich Folk Magic Tradition by Auburn Lily
Rating: 2/10
Pros: Some information presented is correct, like the information on “ingredients” isn’t too bad if not a super small amount of them, she mentioned red clay which a lot of books seem to forget exists. And this book’s aesthetics? 10/10 for the illustration work, colors, fonts! I also appreciated the insistence that you help the land as much as possible, as well as the land’s original inhabitants and to give Indigenous voices space.
Cons: There is so much I was so disappointed by. First off let’s get this out of the way: The author in her bio on her own website auburnlily.com claims she is a starseed. I have a LOT of personal feelings about the Starseed movement and how it damages the progress of mental health and getting help and medication for said mental disorders. But this should have been the first major red flag that this book would not be what it says on the cover.
A lot of my problems are as follows:
Most folk workers don’t use the same three or four ingredients…in this case:
Peppermint. Rose. Essential Oils. Crystals, usually citrine or black tourmaline.
Actually we tend to not use crystals at all unless we’ve adapted them into our practice ourselves…the old folk didn’t have pretty rocks to use they got at the New Age store in the town square, alright?
A LOT of this information is definitely tinged in a new age and modern light. The correspondences for the days of the week mentions “The Goddess” which we don’t…deal with??? At all??
Another example:
Grannies used to use the bible and ‘faith healing’ to avoid persecution from their community.
Absolutely not! She mentioned the witch trials a minimum of 6 times, which (ahaha good pun) almost made me roll my eyes into the back of my head, then I read the bible to avoid persecution part and almost burned the book on the spot.
Faith healing is NOT a cop out.
It was the way things WERE. Were there hexers? Yes. Were they given a wide berth sometimes? Also yes. But they also had their place in the community! The hexer in my family, Flossie, was respected with some fear, but she was also the person who scorned lovers and cheated on spouses went to. When the police were hounding moonshiners a few came to her for cop go away works.
The author also insinuates that Yarb Doctors were held in higher regard because they didn’t use faith/and or gender may have had a point in that. I dunno what yarb doctors and grannies she talked to but men were not allowed in the birthing room, that was a Granny’s responsibility and by god they did it well. You never backtalked a Granny, they were and are the backbones of their communities.
Now that I’m off that soapbox, the author also seems to believe that meditation, third eyes, astrology in a modern way, and crystals are critical for Appalachian witchcraft which is stupidly incorrect. Her recipe for floor wash is hogwash and far too simple and small, her candle color correspondences are laughable…especially that little line on Orange: “Helps with menstrual cramps.” If that was the case no straight woman in Tennessee would get cramps because they all wear orange at least once a week for their team.
She only uses Hoodoo like…3 times which is better than most authors so I supposed that’s progress? But the author also hates baneful work and makes mention of that fact numerous times.
The author also has quite a few love spells mentioned, and weirdly enough…a lot of her ingredients in OTHER spells are also the same ingredients in her love spells. How strange.
My final and most damning gripe, the author seems to believe that stereotypes make for amazing offerings to the ancestors. In particular…the Irish would appreciate offerings of potatoes. You have to be kidding me.
Overall: Yet another new age witch trying to make folk magic look far more complicated and fluffy than it is. I hated this so much. I didn't even touch the "Open the healing channel" and "Reparative Visualization" "SPELLS" she includes which sounds like absolute woowoo.
Proof of some of these claims are below:

Another rock show, another great find!
My wife and I drove to the other side of town for another rock and mineral club’s show, and I feel like I stole the stuff I came home with. First, while my wife and I were browsing a display of jewelry with cut stones, the woman running the stand commented on my opal necklace. She looked more than a little surprised when I told her I cut the stone myself, using a diamond-grit knife sharpening block of all things. I could only say "I know that's the wrong way to do that, but I wasn't going to buy a $500 cutting wheel to do one stone!" (it was a lockdown project)
Chatted for a while with another dealer about his small display of unusual faceted stones. He had this one enormous almost 40 carat faceted peridot bigger than my thumbnail. I didn't know they came that big! I don't even want to know what he'd ask for that... But he was so nice and spent so long talking to us, I felt like I should buy something. He had this cute little pink tourmaline crystal for only $14 so I grabbed that to say thanks.
Tumblr media
But the real show was still to come.
I had my eye on a bright mint green dioptase specimen another dealer had, but it was a couple hundred bucks, and I didn't really want to spend that much on a rock. While I was mulling that over, I saw a dealer I’ve seen before at a couple other local mineral shows was back with his amazing stock of Ethiopian opals. He had a couple giant pieces of amazingly clear crystal opal the size of my fist sitting in a bowl of water. I turned them over to get a look at the play of color, but I was afraid to pick them up and maybe drop a multi-thousand dollar rock.
However, he also had trays of smaller pieces sorted by price per carat. It was like a box of bifrost shrapnel, glittering in overlapping rainbow colors under the bright lights in his booth (very important when you're selling opal!). One particular piece caught my eye, but I was afraid to ask what he wanted for it, last time I tried that with one of his pieces it was >$300 and I had to put it back :( . When he told me that this beautiful crystal opal was only $62 I had to have it.
Like, sure, it has a couple cracks in it and its a funny shape, but I'm not going to cut it so who cares? LOOK AT THOSE OVERLAPPING LAYERS OF RAINBOW IRIDESCENCE! I turn it around at the end of the video because that same side of the stone is blue, green, yellow, or even red depending how you look at it and how the light is oriented. Sometimes you can see multiple colors through each other. Its doing what I associate with good opals, and completely saturating the red/green/blue pixels of my phone camera when the play of color is lined up right.
This is the opal specimen I've been looking for. This is why I love going to rock shows, some of this stuff has to be seen in person to be appreciated. Photos are nice, videos are better, but opals need to be seen to be believed. Those colors are unreal bright.
