"Oh, it's snowing... just like the weather forecast predicted" You could see your own breath as little fogs form itself in front of you.

"It's getting colder out here, will you be alright with just that?" Toya was walking right by your side, holding plastic bags in one hand.

"Yeah, I'll be fine-ACHOO!" You let out a loud sneeze, nose turning a little red as you cover your nose with your right hand.

He sighed, dropping the bags down to the snowy platform, slowly unwrapping his scarf "You're going to get a cold at this rate"

"B-But! You're going to get a cold too"

"...then we can share it together"

"Huh??"

You stood still, surprise when he starts wrapping the long scarf around the two of you and once he was done, he grabbed your unoccupied hand before picking up the bags from the snowy platform "Better now?"

You couldn't help but stare at him, blinking your eyes slowly as a faint hue of pink spread across your cheeks "Y-Yeah...much better"

"Good"

You couldn't see it but you could feel that he was smiling behind that big scarf covering his lower part of his face... it's embarrassing but oh well as long as he is happy, who cares about the stares.

"We're back!"

You shout out to the empty hallways, creating a slight echo throughout the apartment.

It was around noon when the two of you returned to your place, taking off your shoes before making your way to the living room and scream in delight "Oh wait, toya!! Come over here for a second!"

"What is it?" You could heard his soft footsteps coming closer and closer to the living room and soon enough, you could see his head pop in through the entrance of the room.

"Oh, wow...you got one of those heated tables with a blanket, a kotatsu right?"

"Yeah, I thought you would like it whenever you're coming over to my place during the winter season so I took a chance and bought it"

"Wasn't it.... too expensive for you to buy them?"

"Oh, it's fine... you're more important than my own wallet anyways"

"What was that?"

"NOTHING! nothing at all, I swear!"

Flustered, you try changing the subjects to hide your embarrassment "Come on, let's try the kotatsu! You're still cold from being outside for so long as well"

You were so excited that you immediately sit down yourself under the kotatsu "Ah, it's so warm~"

Toya couldn't help but let out a few chuckles at the sight of you melting onto the heating table, taking a sit himself under the warm blanket.

"There are mikan oranges if you want one?" You pick an orange from the small basket in front of you, slowly unpeeling it.

"Sure, I'll take one if you don't mind"

"Anyways I'll have a nap first... I'm feeling all warm and cozy from the heated kotatsu..."

"No way, did you forgot what we were here for?"

"But it's so coldddd..."

"But I want to bake some Christmas treats with you and you promised that we would make them together..."

He looks so dejected at that moment, almost like a kicked puppy from how his eyes look so downcast as he stare down at the table in front of him "I just want to spend more time with you..."

Ugh, that face is so unfair.

"..."

You stood up suddenly.

"(name)?" Toya turn to look at you, confused by your sudden change of mood.

"You know it's really unfair of you to use that cute face against me"

"Wha-?"

"Come on, off to the kitchen we go!"

He could only watches as you immediately ran off to the kitchen, loud noises could be heard from where he was sitting at.

"(name) really is like a storm..."

He couldn't help but smile softly, making his way to where you were as you continue to run around to prepare tools and ingredients.

...thus the beginning of a game of trials and errors, ending the day with laughters and joy. The time spent with loved ones is the true meaning of a christmas miracle...

S/O deals with self-harm problems

I have diferent ways to hurt myself, sometimes I make myself bleed and other time not, although it has been a while since the last time i did it, sometimes I really want but don't do it i

Yukito Tsukishiro

Yukito is really caring and gentle, he always had a soft smile to offer you, even when he isn't the most observant person he can tell when something is off and he is quickly to offer you unconditional support and comfort, he will not pry for details whenever you are feel bad or struguling with something if you don't want to talk about it

Yukito knows when you aren't feeling well but can be tricked if you try to hide it, however the more time pass and you still seem to feel bad he will worry more (even Yue start to have a really bad feeling) and will try to talk to you about what is bothering you. Yukito will actually notice the little hints at some point, such as covering more your body or being specially sensitive and prefer to don't be touched on certain parts of you body, and he has a bad feeling about all of this

Yukito will directly confront you when he feels too worried, it will take him a while because he wants to respect your privacy but he needs to know what is happening with you, he tries to be gentle with his words and reasure you that is because he is really worried, he won't stay satisfied if you put excuses or try to avoid the topic, he try to push you a little to talk but if you insist on don't saying anything he will give up and leave you be for now but is obvious that his worries only increased

When you finally open up to him about all of this Yukito will be extremely worried, if you tell him directly (maybe even show him the scars) he is immediatly worried asking you why do you do it, he hold the part where you harm yourself really gently, like if it was made of glass, making sure they're not infected or anything, before hugging you softly, it breaks his heart knowing that you feel the need to do something like this but is quickly to assure you that he doesn't judge for it and wants to help you stop doing this, because it isn't healthy and you don't deserve to be hurt

In case he catch you doing it he will react more alarmed, immediatly trying to help you stop with the bleeding and take proper care of the wound before even asking you anything about it, once is done is when he ask you what happened, at the end he is more focused on comforting and assuring you that you aren't alone, he is with you and he will help you get through this

After this he continue being really gentle, always with a smile, he doesn't bring the topic unless is necesary and prefer to do it in private, he won't tell anyone if you don't want to but insist on telling to the ones you trust the most so they can help you too (as well as asking for profesional help)

From that day Yukito insist more on asking you about you day and about what is troubling you, promising that not matter how small or silly the problem can be he want to be able to help you, also he start to be more expressive with his love, either with physical affection or words, even a lot more act of service, reminding you how much he loves you and telling you how happy he is to have you in his life (this is also motivated by Yue since he is also affected by this, it gave him a feeling of helplessness that he hates)

Yukito also makes sure you are taking proper care of the wounds, willing to do it himself, and always treats your scars gentleness (if you let him he sometimes give you little soft kisses on them or gently caress them)

Yukito is always cheering you to fight the impulse of harming yourself, if you manage to don't do it he will be really happy for you, congratulating you and thanking your efforts, in the case you can't and end up cutting yourself again Yukito will comfort you, acknowledging your effort and remembering you to be kind to yourself too since isn't easy

When you start to improve and the urge to do it start to reduced Yukito will be really happy and will tell you how proud of you he is, he will try to remember the date of when you stoped doing it as an important date for him. Also, if you ever has a relapse he won't be angry or upset at you, it sadden him but won't lose hope on you and cheerish for you, remembering you that you already were able to resist for a while and he is proud of your effort

Touya Kinomoto

Even when he doesn't show it much Touya is actually really caring and kind to those he care the most, and, of course, you aren't an eseption. Also, he is really perceptive so everytime you don't feel at your best or are troubled by something he knows and shows his support indirectly, even if you don't ask for help you have his help

Touya isn't the type to confront you about it right away, he trust you enough to let you handle this and wait until you feel comfortable enough to tell him, unless is something more serious or that you could be in danger, and even so he won't be pushy and prefer to take things slowly if he can

He know something is wrong with you but he prefer to don't say anything imediatly, he waits, hoping you will come to him and tell him willingly when you are ready, however if that doesn't happen then he will do it himself and tell you that he knows something is wrong

When you open up to him he keeps a serious expression while asking you why do you do it, why do you feel the need to do it, how long you've done it, he asks important things and yet he doesn't force you to talk, if you don't want to tell him is alright, with knowing that you do it is enough for him right now and the only reason he ask is because he wants to be able to help you

His reaction doesn't change much if you tell him or if he finds you harming yourself, however if he finds you doing it he immediatly throw away the knife and tends your wounds, he doesn't ask anything in that moment because he knows what is happening but ask you to be come careful next time. In any case after taking care of the wounds or after is done asking you he just hugs you tightly, rubbing your back in a comforting manner and assuring you that he is here with you, he isn't going to leave you alone with something like that and something like this will never make him stop loving you

He may not be the best to express himself but he'll find his way, he prefer to let you vent and be a shoulder to cry, he is completely willing to keep you in a comforting embrace until you are done crying

After that day he will try to be more open and obvious with his love and care for you, by a lot of actions of service and physical affection (even Yukito tells you from time to time how much Touya loves you and cares for you, embarrassing him a little in the process)

If you continue harming yourself after he found out he won't scold you or be mad, he just make sure to take proper care of the wounds before telling you that this is an unhealthy way to handle with the emotions, if you feel comfortable or even prefer it he will voice off his worries for you, how he doesn't want to lose you. However, he makes clear almost imediatly that he understand that this isn't easy, is probably going to take a long time for you to stop doing it but he accept it, he wants to be with you in every step of the way because he loves you and he wants nothing more than seeing you happy, he wants you to love yourself just like he loves you

When you start to have improvements he congratulate you and thanks the hard work you are doing, as well make sure that now you have more healthy ways to express those feelings (or even that are changing) instead of just trying to ignore them. If you ever have a relapse he won't be disappointed or anything, he understand that it can be part of the process and is more worried in you, in how you feel about it and will comfort you if you need it

Kou Minamoto

Kou is a really caring partner, he can be pretty cheerful and even inocent at times but, somehow, he always knows when you are having problems and he is always there to give you his unconditional support and help, either by telling you directly that you can rely on him or doing little acts of service in order to show support

Kou can be tricked if you find a good excuse or manage to hide well that you aren't feeling well but it won't last long because soon or later he will know that you aren't actually feeling well, he notice little changes on your behavior or things that shows that you aren't feeling well little by little (he pays a lot of attention without even noticing it), as well it won't take him long to notice an unusual behavior, like covering a lot some parts of your body

Kou ask you about it almost right away, wanting to be able to help you, however if you seem hesitant or even uncomfortable by it he will apologize and won't pry for more details, but makes sure to show you his support. As the time pass if you still seem troubled but reclulant to talk about it he will try to find out on his own, thinking about all of it and even asking your friends if something had passed to you

At some point Kou will confront you again but now determinated to know what is happening to you, he doesn't want to be pushy but the more time it pass the more worried he grows

Getting to know that you self-harm is pretty shocking for him and he isn't going to take it too well (no that he is mad at you or anything), if he get to know because you finally open up to him and tell him directly he will heard you carefuly but with every word you say the sadness and confusion grows more and more inside him, he ask you why with tears on his eyes, he isn't mad at you, he is just confused, he loves you and see you as someone amazing so he doesn't understand why you would feel the need to do something like that to yourself. Although, if he find out when he catch you doing it he will be a little more aggresive while taking the blade from your hand and trying to stop the bleeding while panicing, Kou will calm down until your wound is treated and will finally ask you about it

Kou won't judge for it or be mad, neither disappointed, Kou is more focused on trying to comprehend why are you doing this and help you stop doing it, he ask you to please tell him why you do it and to vent to him, he wants to knows everything you are feeling, he rather end up with his heart broke by hearing you than risking you harm yourself again

Kou understand that this isn't a problem that can be fixed overnight and that is related to deeper feelings but he doesn't care, he is willing to stay by your side in every step of the way, even if you move forward with baby steps he will be more than happy to be there, following your rhythm

Kou will be paying even more attention to you, trying to prevent you from doing it again by offering you his help, he is actively searching for ways to help you and other ways for you to vent (healthier ways) and suggesting searching for profesional help. Kou is pretty scare of losing you, he doesn't know if he will be able to handle losing you so he tries his hardest to be able to help you because he want you to be happy (he sometimes vent to you too and speak his heart out because he tent to put a lot of pressure on himself for it)

Kou celebrate all the improvements you have, from the smaller ones to the ones more significants, it doesn't matter if you had manage to achieve just a few days or an entire year without hurting yourself he is proud of you, and even if the impulse of doing it is still there or you have a relapse Kou aknowledge all the efforts you are putting on this and thanks your hard work for trying to stop this

Nene Yashiro

Yashiro is a really caring partner, she doesn't show it much but is really caring over you and is easily influenced by your own mood, she isn't the most perceptive person but, soon or later, she will find out when you aren't feeling at your best and she becomes pretty worried

If you try to hide it it will take her longer to find out but at the end she will (even if it is with the help if others). Yashiro doesn't want to confront you about it directly, she doesn't find the strength nor the words to bring up the topic so she prefer to try to cheer you up and make clear that you have all her support, however the more time it pass and you still seem troubled or little hints of you hiding something the more she worries, it will reach a point where she can't handle more her feelings and finally comfront you about it

Since is more likely that Yashiro won't confront you about it until is too much for her and she won't give up so easily with the topic, unless you seem too uncomfortable with the topic and yet is obvious that she is still worried about it and she seem like if she still want to talk about it

Doesn't matter if she find out because you tell her or because she find you doing it, it will hit her hard in any case, although it would be easier for her to assimilate the information than seeing you doing it because in that case she will panic

This will break Yashiro's heart because she loves you with all her heart and being and think that for whatever reason you feel the need or even that you deserve to be hurt like this breaks her heart, she ask you why do you do it with a trembling voice and teary eyes while gently taking your hands, she wants to be able to understand you but she just can't

It would take her a while to calm down (she will even feel bad if you comforted her because she was the one supoused to do that) and when she does she is imediatly telling you that you aren't alone on this and that she will do everything she can to help you with this. Yashiro actively search for ways to help you and ask Aoi, Kou and Hanako what she could do to help you, and she does almost everything her friends tell her

Yashiro really wants to help you and is almost desperate to do so, she loves you and she can't bare even the thought of you being hurt and sad, she is trying to help you by all the ways she can, in direct ways, like taking care of your wounds and constantly asking you how do you feel, and indirect ways, like telling you how important you are to her and how much she love you, how no one deserve to be hurt

Yashiro tries to pay a lot of attention to you and don't be pushy but sometimes can't stop herself from directly asking you how are you doing with dealing with the urge of hurting yourself, she express how it hurt her knowing you do this but also thank you for your effords to change and continue, she even thank you for just being alive when even that hurts

Yashiro makes a big deal whenever you tell her the news about you managing to not fall before the urge to hurt yourself, not matter if it was just for a day, a week or even a year, she celebrate with you, thanking you and telling you how proud she is of you over and over again with a wide smile

When you start to be able to leave that behind Yashiro will cry out of happiness of knowing that you are getting better little by little, and even if you ever have a relapse she will be there to comfort you, thanking you for your hard work until now and asking you to please don't give up and try again

Yukito [or Jullian for all you Dub people] and Touya as lovers (Separate and together)

Warnings: None, minor angst if you squint.

Note: ah yes. My two (technically three) first ever manga/anime crushes. Love these boys to death.

Pretty sure Yue started my liking for stoic boys with white hair (Sesshomaru, Killua Zoldyck) or just people with white hair in general (Tengen Uzui, Mirajane Strauss, Kanade Tachibana).

Yo, I literally just found out that Yukito is Touya’s actual boyfriend and I've just been shipping a canon relationship for years now. When I first read the manga, I was like ok but they would be cute together. Then I saw that one specific episode and went, “Yeah, they are idiots in denial.” Then I find out they are canonically boyfriends and… WHAT?! MY SHIP IS LIKE CANON!!!! Both of them actually but like eh… I’m a multishipper.

Anyways enjoy!!!

Tsukishiro Yukito (I’ll get to Yue in this too):

Yukito is first and foremost a gentle lover. His love for you is bright and everlasting. Once he latches onto you, you are never getting out. (Unless you want to. In that case, he is sad to see you go but is happy for you. Then again who would want to leave this bundle of sunshine.)

He’s the type to put you on the inside of the sidewalk and protect you.

He likes to have a hand on you at all times. His favorite being around your waist or just holding hands.

If you like food, he’ll get you some. He likes food so you can take some from him as long as you leave some for him. He’ll always bring plenty of food so you can take some and there will still be enough for him.

When you hang out with him, it’ll likely be in his house or in a peaceful setting. Yukito is all about comfort. If you feel uncomfortable, he will do his best to get you out of the uncomfortable situation.

Yukito is one of the more popular people at your school, meaning, more often than not, he is an object of some people’s affections. If someone confesses to him during that period in which he was not dating you, he would turn down any confessions (unless it’s you or Touya but we’ll get to that later). If someone confesses to him while you’re dating, he will turn them down with a slight look of disbelief because he is openly dating you and is happy with you.

Segue from that, as i have said, he is the object of people’s affections meaning jealousy. (You’re in highschool after all) You have had multiple people corner you and say you’re not good enough for Yukito and will threaten you not to tell him. They would never do it around him but he will know. As ditzy as he presents himself to be, he is, in fact, rather perceptive. He will notice that you slowly start to pull yourself away from him and he will reach his hand out to grab you. You are not escaping him.

“Darling? Is something the matter? Something bothering you?” He asked gently.

You shook your head. “It’s nothing, Yuki.” You gently pull your sleeves down covering the matching bruises from an earlier confrontation.

Yukito notices and gently pulls your arm out and pushes your sleeves back. His eyes widen slightly at the sight before anger begins to show. “How long?” He asks gently, voice soft, letting you know that his anger wasn’t directed towards you.

It does little though as you burst into tears. “I’m sorry. They wouldn’t stop. They cornered me, threatened me. Never got physical before today. I’m sorry I didn't tell you.”

Yukito only brings you into his embrace and pets your head. “Shush. It’s alright, Darling. It’s okay. You’re okay. They can’t hurt you anymore, I'll make sure of it.”

From that day on, he hasn’t left your side for long. He already walks with you, Touya and Sakura to school and walks you home so there was no way there. If he does leave, he leaves you in Touya’s care because he knows that even if you are not dating Touya, he’ll take care of you for Yukito.

As for Yue, when you first found out about him, you and Yukito were hanging out at Touya’s house. Touya had to leave for one of his jobs for a bit, promising to be back soon. You were going down to get some drinks for you and Yukito while you wait for Touya to come back. You enter Touya’s room to see Yue and Sakura conversing. While you do love Yukito, you learn to love Yue as well. Like Canon!Touya, you treat Yue differently from Yukito but still love him nevertheless.

A bit of spoilers here:

When Touya gave up his ability to see things, you asked Yue to take from you as well and thus Touya retains some of his ability to sense when Sakura is in danger and Yue now draws from your locked away magic energy. Not like you were using it anyways.

Spoiler is done.

Yue is very protective of you. You don’t see him often, mostly when you are with Sakura but he is a part of your Yukito and that means loving him as well.

Early on, you learn that Yukito and Yue are two separate entities. (If I had to compare it to anything. I would compare it to DID or twins, to a certain degree). Yue is different from Yukito in the way that he protects you. While Yukito is one to hold you and gently caress all your worries away, Yue will hold you in his arms protectively, his wings adding another shield. His hold reassures you that you are safe and that he is protecting you.

Of course, you can see a bit of Yukito in Yue and a bit of Yue in Yukito. Both share the need to protect and comfort you. If Yue can’t appear because you are at school or in public, then his intentions are sent through Yukito. If you are being protected by Yue for whatever reason but need comfort, you can feel Yukito comforting you. (That’s why I kinda compare it to DID. Each alter’s little quirks or habits leak into whoever is fronting even if they didn’t have those habits before. That is what is used to create the person that the outside world sees.)

Yukito is your gentle lover and Yue is your strong lover.

Kinomoto Touya:

Much like Yue, Touya is very protective of you. He loves you with all his guarded heart and likes to keep you there. He is on the taller side of the student body so he likes to tower over you.

He’s the type that will open any door for you, car door, school door, shop door, even your own home door. Just give him the keys.

He’s not very into physical contact but you can be sure that he will be looming over you protectively. He will, of course, wrap his arm around your shoulder or link your pinkies together.

He works quite a bit, for his family even if they don’t know it, so he would love it if you showed up to each workplace to support him. If you could, of course. If not, don’t worry about it.

When you hang out with Touya, it’ll be at one of his many workplaces, when he’s on his break. (In which he will also apply his employee discount if those exist in said workplace.) If not there, then at home in his room. With Sakura being busy with school, the house is kinda just quiet. Just the way he likes it.

Like his canon boyfriend, Touya is seen as one of the more pinned after males. People like him for his strong nature and his dashing looks. (Some don’t care about his personality or even like it, apparently. That’s me. I’m some people.) He could care less about confessions. If it’s before y’all are together, he’ll decline by simply walking away. When he is dating you, he will actually verbally acknowledge the confession as something he is not interested in. He has you after all.

Like Yukito, there will be people fighting you for his affection. Unlike Yukito’s “admirers”, Touya’s “admirers” are not afraid to get physical. Like somewhere in their minds, they have all collectively agreed that he likes a partner who can fight. Maybe you can, maybe you can’t. Either way, you always end up with a couple bruises, ones that Touya takes notice of. He is kinda like the strong silent type so instead of confronting you, he will trail after you.

This was one of the times that Touya was away from you. One of his group members, who was most definitely in on this, had called him over. He had promised to be back soon, but that little window was enough for a group of three girls, your usual terror group, to come and confront you. They dragged you by the hand away from the open. “Heh. You think you’re enough for Touya?”

“Yeah. I am.” You said confidently, already ready to defend yourself, should you need to.

Suddenly you eased up and smiled. The three girls stared at your eased expression in confusion. “Is something wrong here?”

At the sound of his voice, all three whipped their heads around. “Touya! Uh nothing’s wrong! We were just…uh…”

Touya only stared at them before making his way over to you. His arm came around your shoulder pulling you to his chest. “Everything okay?”

“Mhm.” He kissed your forehead before leading you away from the group.

He already doesn’t leave your side as much but when he does, he makes sure that you are with Yukito or are in his eyesight. You normally walk to his work with him or to his house if he doesn’t have work so there is no time for confrontation there.

Together:

Now here is where most of my initial brain rot came from.

I would like to think that you and Yukito were officially together first. Touya was just your boyfriend’s best friend (that you secretly also had a crush on) until Yukito came to you one day saying he had feelings for Touya, in which you told him you did too. Together, you and Yukito researched the idea of polyamory and came to the conclusion that you were both poly. After that, the two of you started dropping hints as to the idea of it.

Touya eventually picked up on it and well, he could hope. On his side, he had liked Yukito for as long as he could remember. Then came the added variable of you. You had weaseled your way into his life and heart. Now he was stuck with the predicament of liking two people at once.

Unlike the two of you, he didn’t do any research and was just fighting with himself about this conflict. When the two of you started dropping hints as to wanting a relationship with him, he felt even more conflicted and just straight-up confused. Which led you to this:

You, Yukito and Touya were once again sitting in Touya’s room. Your head was in Touya’s lap and your feet were in Yukito’s. It was one of the few days that Touya didn’t have to go to work and Sakura was still at school with (what i can only assume as because i don’t exactly remember) colorguard practice.

You were scrolling on your phone, Yukito had his computer on your legs and Touya was doing something on his phone. “Hey… Uh…”

At the sound and tone of Touya’s voice, you turn off your phone and set it down. Yukito stopped typing to look at Touya. “Yes, Peach?”

Touya scrubbed a hand over his face. He hated and loved that nickname. It was derived from his first name and the way you used it was so affectionate. You had started calling him that one day and it hasn’t gone away. “See. That.”

You looked at him in confusion as you got up. Yukito closed his laptop and scooted closer to Touya, resting on the wall by his side as you sat across from them. “Me calling you Peach?”

He nodded. “Oh… If you don’t like it, I can stop. It’s just that you never said anything about it and so I thought it was alright. I can stop calling you that if you want.”

You looked at your lap dejectedly. You adored the fact he would allow you the right to call him by a nickname, something you rarely did for anyone else.

He shook his head. “No, it’s not that.”

Yukito looked at him. “Then what is it, Touya?”

“It’s just…I…” He just sighed.

You lightly cupped his cheek. “What is it, Touya? Bunny and I will try our best to help you.”

He gently peeled your hand away from his cheek. “That. Giving me affection. Offering help and support. Like…”

“Like?”

Touya took a deep breath and screwed his eyes shut, not like himself at all. “Like we’re together?”

Your boyfriend and you shared a look before you both simultaneously placed and hand on one of his. His eyes snapped open. You looked at your Peach as his gaze filted from you to Yukito. “Is that what you want?”

Touya stared at Yukito with wide eyes before slowly nodding, seemingly not trusting his voice. “Touya, we want that too. We just weren’t sure if it was something you wanted.”

After that, you and Yukito explained the concept of polyamory and have been in a relationship since. Both of them are very protective of you. They are both unwillingly popular and know what happens to people in a relationship with people like them so if they ever need to leave their trio, you are always left with one or the other.

When you walk, you have scary dog/sunshine dog privileges, respectively. On one hand, you have Touya who is silent, strong and scary. On the other hand, you have Yukito, polite and energetic but always prepared for a verbal smackdown.

Together, you three are the sweetest couple, rarely ever fighting and making eachother happy no matter how busy it is. It’s not perfect, of course, but it’s yours.

Anyways this is like my second or third time writing something like this, I think, so don’t judge too hard. It’s also been a couple years since I last consumed any official Cardcaptor content so please bear with what I can remember.

Note 2: Almost went without doing the together part. Whoops!

Sakura card captor fandom let me down so bad, why no one bothers to explore Yue and Touya’s relationship? 😭

Like, do I ship Touya and Yukito? Obviously, they are super cute but god the completely different dynamic between Yue and Touya? The messiness of it? It’s not explored nearly enough. It doesn’t even have to be in a ship way, I just want to see more people talk about it

Some thoughts on Cardcaptor Sakura and destined love.

Okay so a theme by the people who made Cardcaptor Sakura is love is love. Age gaps and circumstances or gender won’t stop the feelings so to speak because its destiny. and there are ships that overlap looks throughout other works by the same team who made cadcapture sakura.

But I think what I find most fascinating is I actually think two of the main ships aren’t actually destined love despite what overlapping character models would have you believe(looking at you tsbasa chronicles)...what makes them strong is they are defying destiny.

these two ships are Sakura x Syaoran and Yukito x Touya.

it sounds crazy but here me out because I actually think the base for my theroy makes sense.

One of the ‘destined’ loves the show brings up is Sakura’s mother and father who fell in love as a teacher and a student(yes is sus on principle, it being sus isnt exactly relevant but it must be repeated for the people who didn’t figure it out).

A second(spoilers) is a relationship or deep love implied from Yue(a moon powered spirit towards/between the Original Card Captor Master Clow from centuries before.

and technicallya relationship counted that I don’t want to count since I hate it and isn’t even in the anime at all but I will mention since it may help you see the pattern is the teacher with one of sakura elementary classmates.

Touya actually takes after his mother in not just spiritual awareness but also taste as he actually falls for a lady teacher with spirit powers/is a priestess/shine maiden of some kind when he was in middleschool(again even more sus..not entirely relevant but it bears repeating).

Sakura also has an interest in an older boy the same age as Touya named Yukito. in her case its while Yukito(seemingly) is in highschool while she is in elementary.

Something I noticed was a patturn of an older person getting with potentially younger student.

its easy to forget since sakura x syrean and yukito x touya seem so obvious endgame.

but for the majority of the series Sakura was in love steadfastly with Yukito. Yukito is very sweet to Sakura throughout the series. Sakura was also the one who became the Cardcaptor connected to the cards(not touya), which is connected to Yue(Yukito arguably real/original personality that is centuries old and guardian to the cards that sees if the owner is worthy). and Yue had been deeply in love with Master clow who had made the cards originally. Arguable Sakura was destined to be very close to Yukito on both sides and it was implied that Yue might have gotten close to Touya to get close to Sakura and specifically the cards in their house in the guise of Yukito. the sweet is very hungry best friend of Touya. it would be very easy to argue for Sakura and Yukito as a ship in theroy based on these aspects.

I had thought that it was only logic to dismiss yukito x sakura as a ship because of the age aspect....but there was a conversation between Master Clow and Sakura that gave me a hint that Sakura and Yukito had actually been destoned to be with eachother because Master Clow had actually predicted that would have been the case of Yukito/Yue returning her feelings near the end of the series.

but of course...if your paying attention that is NOT the case....which made me think about WHY that wasn’t the case.

A major aspect is of course that Yukito had actually fallen for Touya. Sakura’s brother.

But if Clow knew of Sakura then it would make sense if he actually could antipate accurately the idea that yukito/yue wouldn’t fall for Touya.

What I think he hadn’t antipated was TOUYA’S destined love choosing to step aside.

as much as people like to treat Touya’s love for the teacher as just a redherring to cover his love for yukito....its actually more fascinating if its sincere. He had brought up he had someone he loved before(like when the girl from the play confessed) which we all assumed was yukito until it was revealed later from Sakura seeing the past by a tree he was actually in love with a female teacher/priest/shrine maiden.

She is someone who its implied can see or predict the future as she tells Touya when she leaves abroad that he is destined to fall for someone else and she is destined to fall for someone else as well abroad so they should part and not fight it.

What I think would be interesting is if she actually IS Touya’s destined love...but her choice to leave and say that to Touya actually left an opening to challenge destiny which she did on purpose.

its arguable that if she had stayed or if she had kept in contact with Touya or didn’t cut off his hope before she left like that Touya would still be loyally in love and end up with her. The same as his mom did with his dad or that weird waiting game for the teacher and sakura’s classmate.

In that scenerio where his love with the Teacher wasn’t cut off Touya wouldn’t have been as focused on Yukito(even with the hypothetic that Touya isn’t romantically in love with yukito yet in the main timeline since technically a prerequisite for yukito falling for touya isnt touya returning romantic love) and so hypothetically could have gotten more attached to sakura since Touya would have been clearer on not being available romantically since he would have the idea the teacher returns his feelings.

In that hypothetical scenario yukito might have had less reason to turn down sakura’s confession or even sakura would have less reason to accept the rejection if Touya was not a romantic hurdle due the teacher being stronger in his heart.

A second aspect is that teacher actually deals with the reincarnation of Clow in the show. If she was strait forward with Sakura or Touya early on about clow that could have had a very different aspect when it comes to yukito and sakura. as much as the fandom likes to pretend her saying touya will find someone and she will fall for someone abroad to imply she fell for that kid..she doesn;t actually seem into that literal child reincarnation. SHe also seems aware of some of Clow’s plans or how some of the tests work due to how her family had a connection or role passed down from being connected to the original Clow.

Yue is technically the real original personality of Yukito with Yukito being a amnesiac version with a different personality that is suppoused to fade or disappear once Yue awakens...the reason Yukito is able to say is the strong bond he had created with Sakura but also Touya’s spirit powers helping.

If Touya was less in love with Yukito he might have not given up his powers or might have been too late to help him.

And of course another aspect that Clow failed to predict was one of his descendants Syaoran. Clow had predicted that Yue/Yukito and sakura would have returned feelings.

but its clear throughout the series that Syaoran and Sakura have a built up friendship and support. if Syaoran was there less then yukito/Yue and Sakura most likely would have bonded more. even during that last battle/test where Sakura was struggling to focus on turning the darkness and light card for her own....she succeeded....but she succeeded because Syaoran was there for her and supporting her that things would be okay.

Syaoran entered the chat and helped sakura grow and have someone to bounce off of and who could understand her feelings at times(like feelings toward yukito or unrequited feelings).

Clow had predicted that Sakura would succeeded and become a master of all the cards but it this Syraon hadn’t been there to steady her when she was freaking out at the idea that everyone would stay asleep she might not have been able to succeed the way she did. and sakura might not have realized it...but she was starting to feel something a bit special to syroan that probably helped sooth or make her feel better after getting rejected by yukito.

and if the teacher hadn’t been there to advise the reincarnated Clow there might have been some extra drama when it came to Yue and the reincarnated Clow. or heck its possible the reincarnated Clow and his group might not have made it in time properly to help test Sakura’s growth to push her to adapt the cards quickly.

the pattern had been Sakura’s mom and dad(age gap teacher disciple)

Sakura’s teacher and her class mate(age gap teacher disciple)

master clow and yue(age gape master disciple)

potential ship of yue and reincarnated master clow(age gape sort of master disciple exs)

the lady teacher and Touya(teacher disciple)

and yukito/yue and sakura(age gap with the odd master servant thing with her being a carcaptor)

yet what broke the mold was Touya and Yukito(who are the same age grade wise with Yue not REALLY being factored in) who are best friends throughout the show and building up moments of care together.

and Syaoran and Sakura who start of as rivals to each other for the cards and in love(or crush on yukito) and eventually friends and supporters of each other to fall for each other(or at least deeply care on her end which hasn’t had time to develop yet with love towards her on Syaoran ’s end.

the great Master Clow could predict and have plans for so many things...yet his prediction about love wasn’t correct.

So that is my argument that Sakura and Touya ended up not with their destined loves but love forged through choice and friendship and time.

I also like this theroy because it makes Touya’s first love the teacher kind of cooler in changing destiny because it would be healthier for him to be with someone his own age. giving up your true love to save the Yukito part that would have been destined to fade or die away if Touya’s dynamic with Yukito had been even a little weaker. saving the Clow reincarnation and Yue from chasing the past in each other. and Sakura gets to succeed in a way different from what Clow had predicted. and it gives a happy ending to Sakura with someone her own age as well.

It would also make her worth of Touya’s love even if this is the timeline they aren’t going to be together because in my eyes... by choosing to let him go she gave better more possibilities to Touya and because age gap underage, let alone teacher student romance is NOT okay. for a teacher to be worthy of that love they shouldn’t return it or should be the adult and put a stop to it.

She also didn’t get much time to shine in the anime so her having that much of a impact would be interesting and kind of make the weird age gap aspect through cardcaptor sakura have an extra purpose.

It would also have an interesting contrast with the previous generation that sakura’s generation parallels. her mother got with her age gap teacher(the dad) and might have been happy and had two kids(sakura and Touya) but ended up cut off from her family. her cousin who had a weird crush in her was more bitter but in the end the mom died and everyone mourned and never properly made up. the age gap(and more importantly the teacher student aspect) had really negative affects on the people around the mom even if it could be argued she was happy with her love(the dad who was sketchy for going along with it but did seem to have a good relationship with her).

to contrast and parallel how sakura’s sort of cousin who has a crush on her just wants her to be happy). how sakura and touya have older crushes(especially touya’s who was a teacher) and yue/yukito being ridiculous age wise on the yue side and highscool on the yukito side. just like the mom had on the dad. only unlike the dad who accepted the mom.....yukito rejected sakura and touya’s teacher left him for his own good. and even Syaoran who loved sakura did leave but gave a health space and communication to develope things because there is time. ...so yukito is saved in the long run as a personality, yue is given more closure. and connects were remade...not lost.
