Toyota Supra Group A, 1987. Toyota has a long history with the Safari Rally, with seven overall wins in the '80s and '90s with the Celica. They also campaigned with a rally prepared A70 Supra in 1987/88/89. In 1987 the car was naturally aspirated with a 290hp, 3.0 litre 7M' straight 6 engine driving the rear wheels. Driven by Björn Waldegård it led the rally until it overheated on the last day, finishing 3rd. Despite fitting a turbo that boosted the engine to 400hp for the ’88 and ’89 rallies that was the best finish the Supra managed and it was withdrawn in 1989.
