One thing the Granolah arc tries to do is get Goku to realize is that he hasn’t had faith in his power or at the very least his desire to win. Because Goku doesn’t believe without a shadow of doubt that he can win it led to his losses over the years.
Not believing in himself didn’t allow him to be strong enough to take down Cell or Majin Boo. Because Goku opted for punting on a successor he stunted himself.
Any thoughts on this perspective?
That is an absolute misread of Goku as a character. Not being strong enough to take down Cell is why he was unable to take down Cell. Same with Buu. Hell, his fight with Buu was FUELED by a desire to rely on his own strength, it's part of why he and Vegeta crushed the Potara, but his living body wasn't able to sustain the strain. Prior to that, it was also not about believing in his strength, it was about getting the people he left behind in a position where THEY wouldn't NEED to rely on HIS strength in his absence.
Again, even in the same SERIES, we saw Goku go all-out to take down enemies stronger than himself. He still faced off against Beerus even after the Super Saiyan God transformation wore off, he managed to outwit and take down Freeza, he overpowered Hit's time skip, even HIS VERSION of the ToP SPECIFICIALLY had Goku OVER-RELIANT on his power, but both versions had him rather confidently handling Jiren until his body gave out due to strain.
It also kind of undermined his entire boyhood arc via that wish, so I mean...
But most of all, it thoroughly undermines this moment and makes Vegeta, as well as the fandom that agreed for DECADES, look like absolute fools.

Ultra Instinct Son Goku (Toyotarou Edition)
with Dragon Ball S.H.figupedia
- from S.H. Figuarts
Dragon Ball Super
- by Premium Bandai
Quick Shot
Another break in the marathon, but this time for a new arrival.
The Toyotarou edition of S.H. Figuarts Ultra Instinct Son Goku. Based more directly on Toyotarou's artwork, with some newly sculpted elements, new face plates, and new in-motion hair. Along with a glossy photo book of every Dragon Ball S.H. Figuarts released to date. No new photography, unfortunately. But it's nice to have a collection of high quality prints of the packaging photos.
Not much to say about this one because I haven't opened it yet, but look at that absolutely gorgeous packaging.

Some quick stuff imma say about the DBS manga since I was gonna review it but decided not to yet again...
The Saiyaman X stuff was dumb and a waste of time while also mischaracterizing the cast that was present.
Mai's involvement was stupid. Her being emotionless for most of it was also stupid. Present Mai is a goofball. Don't try to make her more serious like Future Mai. Toyo made sure to not make Present Trunks like Future Trunks. Just dumb.
Krillin knowing about the RR Army is effing stupid. Krillin getting defeated by an android bee is effing stupid. 18 getting jealous about Krillin talking to another woman is in character BUT... its dumb bevause 18 should've known for a while that she is his boss.
Marron was drawn too tall as if she was GT age. Toyo is a GT fan so it doesn't surprise me. But that little detail annoyed me for some reason.
Toyotaro changes the Goku & Vegeta meditation conversation & constantly gives Vegeta praise while insulting Goku (unlike in the film).
Toyotaro makes the Goku vs Vegeta fight more in Vegeta's favor because he is a "Goku fan" like he said he was. Toyo changes aspects of the fight and has Vegeta throw Goku into the giant tree instead of how the film had it the other way around. Vegeta is obviously his favorite character. But this battle is supposed to be evenly matched with Vegeta barley winning. Making Vegeta have the advantage for most of the fight is stupid. What part of evenly matched and barely winning does Toyo not understand? Why am I asking that...? Toyo doesn't even understand most if not all of the characters.
I didn't remember the chapter where Gohan & Piccolo fight the Gammas together. It was pretty boring so I had to re-read it 3 or 4 times just to remember it. And I still barely recall what happened.
The comic version of the movie is better than the manga adaptation of DBS Super Hero.

💥THE GANG IS BACK!
At least... Apparently DBS gave him his chance.
DRAGON BALL SUPER
Chapter 56: Warriors of Earth Assemble
Even the title is stunning. I mean... the gang is back! The original Dragon Ball isn't dead. But now look at him... In truth, he never stopped getting excited about fighting. Here he's the only one who seems purely motivated. A little reckless, but still cute. That's our good ol' Yamcha.
...how dare you, fool?! I mean, he's one of the very first Earth Heroes! No kidding!
Let him prove it.
Agent Yamcha? Well... It sounds really good. Finally someone who respects his role in this story! I mean... He was Lord Yamcha, the fearsome bandit of the Diablo Desert, one of the best students of Master Roshi, then King Kai, a memorable fighter of the Tenkaichi Tournaments, a loyal friend, a human who has crossed his own nature! I guess "agent Yamcha" is just the minimum... But we make do!
Well well well... Welcome back, Yamcha! You really seem to have remembered who you really are and you can be! You're let it get you down too many times for no reason and this has been your greatest weakness. The only one.
Take your revenge!
This is really touching. He never denied his most famous technique... The one and only Rōgafūfūken! Just look at his fingers put like a wolf fang. I can hear his unmistakable howl!
After all, generally he never denied himself. And his long hair too. I'm so glad they've come back. This is a really important point about his personality. Bulma tried to fix him in many things... Sometimes she has helped him, but other times she has only damaged him. I think Yamcha is slowly retracing his steps to create a better version of himself. Not just a parody.
Oh please... It had been a long time since I had seen him so proud of himself. Look at that cocky pose! Damn, how cute...
Got a real taste. He just realized he can still help and now no one can stop him. Well, sort of. The rest of the chapter doesn't show anything relevant about him. Except for a small part.
We can see Yamcha, but also Tenshinhan, Kurillin and even Chiaotzu, helping Goku with their energy. Like the old days. It's amazing they included them.
Okay, this one hurts a little. It's comforting that Toriyama didn't forget this detail... Yamcha's only wish has always been to get married. Since 1985, when he first appeared. Considering that this line dates back to 2020... It's been a long time, hasn't it? Back then he was a shy 16-year-old boy with many expextations for his future... Now he's a man, he lost so much, but his need for love never changed. So... Does he really have to ask Shenron as he wanted to do so many years ago?! Or worse, wait 1200 years...
Come on, Akira! He doesn't need the dragon balls!
Give him his real chance.
Guys... I would say that all of this is an incredible goal for Yamcha's fans.
He still exists.
He can still make a difference, even a tiny one.
He still can!
GOOD JOB, Yamcha-san! ✌️
