hello, i was late to the fandom so i might have missed out on this discourse but do we ever find out the real content of Ray's letter to Isabella? Is it something of a plot point the author hasn't developed in canon? If so, what would the plot be you think? Thank you so much!!

Same hat, anon 😎🤝😎 (coming up on my third anniversary of first discovering the series just this month)

Shirai has never officially, explicitly stated in an interview what's in the letter Ray writes in chapter 22/S1 episode 7, but I've talked about this before and personally find it funny how he made a big deal out of the mystery surrounding it back in a 2019 Jump interview (translated here):

When I feel most people’s first guess as to what was in it after the escape arc concluded was eventually confirmed in December 2020 with the release of chapter 181.3:

A farewell letter from a son to his mother that reveals their biological connection when headquarters purposely kept it a secret.

(Mystic Code Book Chapter 2)

It's meant to be such a huge revelation it stops Krone in her tracks and deters her from digging around in Ray's room further to discover the rewards he's been receiving for six years and the lighter fluid he's been stockpiling for five.

(Mystic Code Book Chapter 1 Q& A | Chapter 22; Krone evens whips out records she brought along in her suitcase from headquarters to corroborate what she's read.)

I've also talked before about how Ray's retaliation was threefold in its pettiness, and this letter falls into points 2 & 3. After years of bottling up his anger and resentment toward her, he wanted to incriminate her by implicating she at very least knew about the escape, potentially that she even helped with it, all because she knew of their biological connection and wanted him to survive (the same thing he wished she would have said to him back on his sixth birthday at the gate):

He found it sickening how she could choose to prolong her own life by sacrificing all his siblings over the course of her tenure at Grace Field. With this, he thought he would seal her death at the hands of the demons she groveled before like a dog, while he would die on his own terms as a human.

What he didn't count on was Isabella's prioritizing results over rules was something that was enabled by her mother, to the point they were willing to remove Krone from plant no.3 altogether.

Ray assumed Krone did not have the means to contact headquarters like Isabella did, so she would keep the bait and bide her time until presented with the opportunity to reveal it to someone higher in the chain of command. Ray assumed Krone would still be at Grace Field at the time of the escape, and that after he was dead and the four other oldest kids were gone and headquarters was looking for an explanation for how a blunder of this magnitude could have possibly happened, Krone would show her hand to usurp Isabella's position.

It's why he's so caught off-guard when Isabella reveals she made a move first.

As for why Shirai gave conflicting information about this, I'm assuming he wanted to leave the door open for multiple possibilities before his health tanked and he began aggressively cutting off story branches so he could still complete the series under his own power and maintain his sense of artistic integrity.

And that's how we arrive at the contents of the letter being what a lot of fans suspected from the jump.

OK OK OK!! i was just scrolling down on printerest and found this

BRUH, they went from that to wanting to kill each other JUST TO SURVIVE. THEY DON'T GET ALONG LIKE SISTERS ANYMORE!! JUST STRANGERS!! UGGHHH!! Have ya'll even wondered what sister krone and isabella's relationship was before they got shipped and find out the truth? Have y'all ever thought how cute it is to see young isabella act as an older sister to baby krone? CAN WE TALK ABOUT THIS!? I find it REALLY heartbreaking how much this oppressed system RUINS everyone's bonds. i remember that those who have the brand tattooed on their necks belonged to the gracefield orphanage.

then i remembered the sisters; matilda, Jessica, scarlet and Siena. Though we only know matilda's identification numbers on her neck. i can only assume that they were once belonged to the gracefield orphanage simply because they all work at gracefield headquarters. It wasn't really revealed on how old they are (maybe cuz i don't remember idk) it is possible that they knew each other before they were shipped.

Have Ya'll ever wonder how much betrayal, trauma and tragedy you get after seeing your orphan sisters die or use you for their own benefit? Their training system is obviously messed up. It puts a lot of strained into their relationship to the point where they don't see each other as sisters anymore but enemies and even to the point where they don't seem to know each other. But probably do.

I wonder if they can still remember the names and faces of the people, they once called siblings. we only see Isabella remembering leslie but what about her siblings? does she still care about them even after she is shipped? To me, leslie's death seems to be one of the reasons why it fuels isabella's desire to live. But, again, what about the rest of her siblings? Something must have happened, right? I want to know more of isabella's past so bad :((( i do hope the mamas, the sisters and the rest of humanity tried to do whatever they can to fix their strained relationships with their siblings and other people that they hurt for survival now that they are free in the human world. If not, then at least apologize. I can imagine how awkward it is to confront them about it.

Hello! Its me, shobi! I was wondering on what your thoughts are on what if sister krone were to escape with the children? Would she and yuugo get along? would she survive getting chased by demons with the GF kids? Would she stay with don and gilda or go with emma and ray incase yuugo plans to kill them? How would she react if she found out that norman is alive and wants to genocide? Would she agree with ray and emma about their plan to not kill demons? would she trust and get along with sonju and musika? If they ever return to the farms, how would she react when she found out that isabella became a grandma instead of getting eaten by demons? I have so many questions. I'm sure having her around be a great benefit for the kids. I miss her sm. I wish she had more screentime. I get that she was a huge help when she gave the pen to the kids but still. I want an AU where she lives. OHH AND ANOTHER QUESTION! If you were given a chance to change sister krone's design to make her a great representative of black people, what would it be? What would it look like? sorry for disturbing you and if theres any grammatical errors. I would love to hear your thoughts and don't hesitate to ramble about it. Initial hostility aside (with Krone around they may knock him out as soon as he brings out the gun lol), I think Krone would get along fine with Yugo. It would be Krone's first time interacting with an adult man, right?

Don't blame my mind for going places 🌚

As for whether she goes with ER or stays in Bunker, I think she stays. She would agree with Norman but then support Emma like GP gang. Overall, the story would proceed just as it did, maybe smoother. Hope she survives Andrew

Since you brought up Krone's design, I remember recently rereading an interview where Shirai and Posu talked about her design. It's an extra info but I'd add it here in this opportunity.

Posuka's inspirations for her style of drawing Krone (and others) was Rembrandt's arts, some video games and Little Prince's illustration book (snippet from the aforementioned interview):

Frankly speaking, I feel that the answers aren't on the same wavelength as the questions, that speaks something for itself :re Shirai and Posuka's awareness on the matter.

And to answer your question. I'm afraid I might not be able to provide a good insight to it based on my insufficient knowledge from news outlets and social media :re this matter. I'd like to hear your own thoughts though :)
