thinking about avatars in pre-modern times…
a royal food tester (eats food to see if it poisoned or safe) who, after years of fearing that every meal will be their last, becomes an avatar of the end
a “witch” whose entire life was shattered and who was burned at the stake, who returns in a gout of flame as an avatar of the desolation
roving bands of trackers who slowly grew more bestial and separated from their villages, chasing ever bigger prey as avatars of the hunt
children branded as changelings who become avatars of the stranger
shunned bastard children who beguile their ways into the good graces of their rich parent’s family and gracefully claw their way to the top as avatars of the web
just… avatars in eras long passed. shaped by the world around them

Hiii! If it's okay to request..
Can we have HCs and/or a fanfic abt the Yandere ROTTMNT brothers (separately) with a Reader (any gender you wanna write in btw!) Who has paraplegia (lower body paralysis) and/or is a video game tester/maker? Love your works btw! -🥐
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
𝐀/𝐍 - 𝐇𝐢𝐡𝐢𝐡𝐢 🥐 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧.!! 𝐈'𝐦 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐠.!!!! 𝐈'𝐦 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐧 𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐰, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐜𝐚𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐢 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐲 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟓𝟎𝟎𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 (𝐢𝐦 𝐥𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐥𝐨𝐠 𝐚𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐬 𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑-)
𝐑𝐚𝐩𝐡
✎ Raph the big hearted giant most likely will carry you around on his shell or just throw you over his shell and walk away with you like you were absolutely nothing, dead weight, to him. He mostly like to say your paraplegia might be better if he were just to carry you instead of you moving by yourself. He'll do anything and everything for you. He babies Mikey, and we all know that. So the chances of him babying you, are VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY high. Actually. Scratch that. He IS babying you. You're getting taken care of and everything. It doesn't matter. You're getting carried, You're getting help with reaching things on shelves, and You're most definitely not going to be able to leave Raph alone without you on your side.
✎ He likes to see you work and spend time on your device and just sit there and play your game. Whatever keeps you distracted from noticing the yandere tendencies he does or just overall just him doing yandere stuff, he doesn't mind that you are spending time looking at a screen to test out games or just overall make games yourself. But the only thing he doesn't like about you playing on the games is how the games are a big distraction from him getting your attention. He does like it when you play, because it makes you genuinely happy and all. But he also wants your attention, how in the world is he supposed to get the hugs and snuggles while your busy testing out a game??
𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞
✎ Donnie knows a whole lot of stuff for sure, he knows a lot of sciencey things, he knows a lot of mathy things, he knows a lot about tech and codes and other and every thing that has to do with science. He's the tech guy, but he really doesn't know much about the human body other than it's pretty fragile and it can be harmed pretty easily. So he might develop or just make some tech macchine or something that can give him updates on your medical status every few hours or so. He'll probably get stressed out if you're not near him and he'll worry if your paraplegia might be causing you some issues. So he'll gift you- No erm. Not gift, but really more or so force you to put on the trackers and other goodies on.
✎ Donnie for sure likes to watch you test and play games from other game developers. He likes to see and watch and basically study what you like in a game or just what kind of games you like in general. So that he can create his own game and kind of customize it to your likings, basically he makes a game to please you and hopefully get some attention from him. Sometimes their be background characters who are and seem oddly similar to the missing loved ones who were lost a while ago and disappeared without a trace. Now I'm not saying that's some fnaf shit with murdeirng and robots- But i think he'd put some npcs in the game that look similar to the people you know just to break and twist your mind. So that when your mind is able enough to snap, he can snap it in a way where he gets what he wants. Your attention.
𝐋𝐞𝐨
✎ This motherfucker- THIS MOTHERFUCKER- He's glad. Well- He isn't really happy that your legs are paralyzed. But he's more..ehh.. How do I put this. He's sorta using your legs being paralyzed as an excuse to stick by your side more often. And he also uses the "oh but I wanna help" card on you whenever you try to shoo him away since you need alone time. He tries to convince you for sure that he is really just trying to help you because your legs aren't working properly, but he's just using it as something to wipe of suspicions of him being way too clingy.
✎ He'll probably bribe you to stay with him at the lair, or just hang out with him in his room with wanting to learn about your video games more often. Or he'll ask you if he can watch you test out a video game that your testing that's in beta. And if you try to say you don't have it, he'll beg you to let him watch. And he won't stop whining up until you say you do have the game and that he is able to watch you play. But really, he's just watching you. Not even looking at the screen. He's sitting behind you as you play and he doesn't even care if you look back at him. He might even have a lovesick look on his face while watching you. You're pretty much addictive to him.
✎ He'll most likely to say that he's "here to protect you and keep you safe, make sure nothing happens to you since you're fragile". A wonderful way to say "oh i'm just going to use your paralyzed legs as an excuse to being creepy and not leaving you alone and just watching you play or do whatever on videogames as I stare at you". He honestly just likes to watch you be calm of something, and when you test or play your own games. He thinks it's the perfect time to distract you and just pretend he is watching you in silence. When he really is either just somewhere else and portaled himself to a person you close with, and when you turn your back?? He portals himself back to the exact spot he was in. It was like he never left you alone.
𝐌𝐢𝐤𝐞𝐲
✎ Like his older brothers, Mikey will use your paraplegia condition as an excuse to be stuck by your hip. Meaning he'll follow you around, like a little duckling. And he'll basically never leave you alone, and he'll play the "I'm just trying to be helpful to you since you need me!" card on you when he doesn't get what he wants. Especially if you ask for privacy, he'll whine and complain until you let him follow you around again. He'll carry things for you, make things for you, and just overall baby you. Even though he doesn't like to be babied, he thinks he's doing this for a good cause. He loves you and you're clearly in need of his help and just him in general. So stop trying to insist that you don't need his help with everything.
✎ He'll most likely do that thing that most yanderes do when they cook food for their wonderful darling, aka you. He might cook you soup or something, and then he'll pour or put some sort of drug in your food and melt it down into the meal so you won't be able to tell if it's there or not. And he'll give it to you, or more or so feed you the meal. Like he'll literally take a spoon and handfeed you like a child, watching you eat his meal, you'll get really sleep and lose some memory of the past few moments before you knocked out into sleep. And when you wake up??? Mikey will put on an act like you just came to visit the lair and just fell asleep. Basically he drugs you into thinking you came over again, but it's just him really tricking you into thinking that. He has a record of a total of 7 days straight of tricking you into thinking that.
✎ Mikey loves watching you play and test games you make or other game developers make. He likes to pay attention to your facial expressions when you play, whether you rage or celebrate after getting an achievement or just overall losing a round. He'll probably pull out his sketch book and just sketch your expressions, your pose, and just you and how beautiful you are to him in general. He's so in love with you, that even if you make a grump face at some character you dislike needs you to do something for them?? He'll sketch it and then he'll rip the page of your grumpy face out. And stare at it for a hot second, and then hug it like he'll never let go. He really likes it when you explain to him what you're doing in the game. But if you stop and tell him you think him staring at you while your gaming, he'll get pissy and tell you he is just observing.

Flickr to copyleft trolls: drop dead
Tumblr media
Today’s a big day for users of Creative Commons images: Flickr has declared zero tolerance for copyleft trolls, predators who exploit a bug in out-of-date versions of the CC licenses in order to threaten good-faith users of CC images who make minor errors in the way they credit the images.
If you’d like an essay-formatted version of this post to read or share, here’s a link to it on pluralistic.net, my surveillance-free, ad-free, tracker-free blog:
https://pluralistic.net/2023/04/01/pixsynnussija#pilkunnussija
First things first: Flickr’s new community guidelines prohibit copyleft trolling: “Failure to allow a good faith reuser the opportunity to correct errors is against the intent of the license and not in line with the values of our community, and can result in your account being removed.”
https://www.flickr.com/help/guidelines
If you are targeted by a copyleft troll who demands that you pay them because of minor errors in your Creative Commons attribution, here’s how to report them and get them kicked off Flickr forever:
https://www.flickrhelp.com/hc/en-us/articles/4404057906068-How-to-report-Community-Guidelines-violations
Now, some background. Early versions of the Creative Commons licenses have a bug, a clause that says that the permissions conferred by CC licenses “terminate automatically upon any breach” — that is, if you violate any term of the license, it ceases to be in effect:
https://doctorow.medium.com/a-bug-in-early-creative-commons-licenses-has-enabled-a-new-breed-of-superpredator-5f6360713299
Core to the CC licenses is the idea of attribution. When you use a Creative Commons image, you must name the creator and link to the original, and name the license and link to it. Many CC users don’t understand this; they use an image and add something like “Image: Cory Doctorow/Creative Commons” with no links or specific licenses.
Under the pre-4.0 versions of the license, this can be construed as a “breach” which “terminates” the CC license. That’s where the copyleft trolls come in.
Copyleft trolls post CC-licensed stock art and then wait for a naive person to make a minor attribution error, and then they pounce, sending a legal threat and a speculative invoice demanding hundreds or thousands of dollars, under the threat of a $150,000 statutory damages award.
This is deeply unethical conduct. As I wrote when I was targeted by one of these creeps:
If you put a CC license on your work, its explicit message is, “I want you to re-use this.” Not “I am a pedantic asshole with a fetish for well-formed attribution strings.” The point of CC is not to teach the world to write attribution strings: it is to facilitate sharing and re-use. If you are a good-faith user of CC licenses, then your response to an incorrect attribution string should be a request to correct it, not a threat to sue for $150,000 in statutory damages.
Unethical as this conduct is, it’s also big business. One company, Pixsy, is responsible for a long-running shakedown campaign, working with scammy photographers to send out demand letters to unsuspecting Creative Commons users.
And many of those photographers rely on Flickr to bait their traps.
There’s a reason for this. Flickr’s early years were a period of enormous innovation. Flickr was the first mobile photo-sharing site, and it invented numerous community features that turned it into a thriving hub for photographers, amateur and professional alike. Flickr was also an interoperability pioneer, offering an API that let any user move their photos to a rival service — a tacit pledge to keep your business by being better than the rest, not by locking you in.
I know all this because I was an early advisor to Flickr, and because, in a weird way, I am partially responsible for Flickr. You see, before Flickr, I was carrying on a long-distance relationship from San Francisco with a woman in London, and we were both alpha testers for a social game called GameNeverending.
One day over breakfast with GNE’s founder Stewart Butterfield, he asked me how things were going in my romantic life. I answered that things were great, but mentioned that my girlfriend and I were struggling to share the pictures we took in our daily lives with one another. Stewart said, “Well, there’s a photo-sharing feature for GNE on the roadmap — why don’t I bump it up and we’ll see if other people use it, too?”
They did. In fact, the feature was so popular that within a few months, GNE relaunched as Flickr, jettisoning the game entirely and focusing on just that one feature. I stayed on the advisory, and one of the things I encouraged was the plan to roll out Creative Commons licenses for Flickr images — and I made sure everyone knew about it when Flickr became the first CC-enabled image site.
(I also married the woman I was carrying on that long-distance relationship with and today we have a 15 year old daughter!)
But after Flickr was sold to Yahoo, it joined Yahoo’s haunted armada of Web 2.0 ghost-ships, tossed back and forth in the storms created by the dueling princelings of Yahoo’s bloated management layer, who spent more time sabotaging one another than they did making anything anyone else wanted to use. Yahoo eventually sold off all of those holdings at fire-sale prices to Verizon, who neglected them still further.
An abandoned ship is easy picking for the rats that live in its bilges. Pixsy and its photographers actually became official Flickr partners, pitching themselves as a way for photographers who didn’t want their images shared to hunt down infringers — even as they facilitated a revolting campaign of copyleft trolling that depended on Flickr as their base of operations.
The depravity of copyleft trolls is truly boundless. Take Marco Verch, a prolific copyleft troll who hosts nearly 47,000 photos on Flickr. Verch hires low-waged gig work photographers through platforms like Upwork to take photos, then harasses people who make minor attribution errors:
https://www.computerweekly.com/news/252488167/Automated-image-recognition-How-using-free-photos-on-the-internet-can-lead-to-lawsuits-and-fines
Verch boasts that his predation lets him work for four hours a week, leaving him with ample time to focus on his hobby, running. Verch is a truly prolific predator, and his attacks have made untold numbers of victims miserable — including the small Dutch charity that was forced to shut down after paying his ransom demand. Pixsy has been Verch’s US counsel and filed dozens of suits on his behalf.
Back in 2021, I got hit by Pixsy on behalf of a photographer named Nenad Stojkovic, with a claim that I had failed to attribute his image correctly. The email threat was truly vicious, calculated to strike terror into the recipient’s heart and prompt swift payment of $600, for using a freely licensed image whose market value had been set by its creator at $0.00.
There was just one problem: I hadn’t flubbed the attribution string. I helped with the launch of Creative Commons. I was CC’s first European director. What’s more, I have decades of experience fighting bullies and trolls and I knew their threat was bullshit — no court would award them the damages they were seeking.
So I wrote about it, publishing the text of my correspondence with Pixsy’s staff and management, and calling on Flickr to make changes to prevent their tools from being abused to victimize innocent people, like forcing users with CC 2.0-licensed images to relicense them as CC 4.0, which guarantees users the right to 30 days to fix attribution strings.
The reason I thought Flickr might take this in hand is that it is finally under decent, responsive leadership — since 2018, Flickr has been owned by Smugmug, a family-owned business that really cares about photographers and the open internet.
Flickr hasn’t taken all of my suggestions yet — my understanding is that they are laboring under enormous technological debt thanks to years of neglect by Yahoo and Verizon, and even small changes require weeks of all-hands technological work.
But what they have done is modify their policies to create a de facto CC 4.0 environment for their users, by promising to terminate the accounts of any user who repeatedly threatens legal action over bad attribution strings without first offering a 30-day grace period.
Flickr’s done more than that, actually. For one thing, they ditched Pixsy, severing their relationship with the company (Pixsy still lists them on its “partner” page). They also created the Flickr Foundation, a nonprofit devoted to providing long-term, responsible stewardship for their CC and public domain image respositories:
https://www.flickr.org/
For its part, Creative Commons published an excellent “Statement of Enforcement Principles” for its licenses that unequivocally rejected the way that Pixsy and other copyleft trolls abuse the bug in its older licenses:
https://creativecommons.org/license-enforcement/enforcement-principles/
In the months since I published my article detailing Pixsy’s attempt to shake me down, two things happened. First, I got a legal threat from Kain Jones, Pixsy’s CEO, who demanded that I get on the phone with him, the the alternative being “escalating things legally”:
https://doctorow.medium.com/an-open-letter-to-pixsy-ceo-kain-jones-who-keeps-sending-me-legal-threats-5dfc54558f2c
Jones also falsely claimed that naming the employees who’d threatened me violated the GDPR, which is extremely on-brand for this whole mess. While I don’t claim to be the world’s greatest expert on GDPR, I did lobby in Brussels for it, and I do have German specialist lawyers on tap who are happy to explain that Jones’s threat is absolute nonsense.
As I noted in my followup to Jones, he seems incapable of interacting with the public or his critics without making legal threats — and not just any legal threats, but legal threats that are grounded in an unhinged, and, in my opinion, deliberately deceptive theories of the law.
Pixsy continued to rattle its sabers for a while after this, tweeting that I’d made errors in my description of its business operations but declining to correct those records in response to my and others’ requests for further detail. It is my opinion that Pixsy failed to correct the record because my accusations were and are substantively correct.
But even after I stopped hearing from Pixsy, I continued to hear from its victims. I routinely receive distraught emails from everyday people who thought they were doing the right thing by using Creative Commons-licensed images in their work, and who now face a remorseless onslaught of threats from Pixsy’s team. Some of these people have been targeted on behalf of Nenad Stojkovic, just as I was.
These people beg me for advice — will Pixsy sue? Can they ignore Pixsy’s demands? I give them my condolences and tell them that I can’t promise them that a company as vindictive, greedy and morally bankrupt as Pixsy won’t bring a lawsuit. Every time, I wish I could offer them more.
Well, now I can: if you are targeted by a copyleft troll for using a Flickr-hosted image, narc them the fuck out. Tell Flickr about them. Flickr no longer tolerates copyleft trolling, and they will terminate repeat offenders’ accounts.
As I wrote this today, I went back and revisted Pixsy CEO Kain Jones’s letter to me and I was struck again by its absolute rank hypocrisy, the sheer sociopathic lack of self-awareness it displays. Jones presides over an empire of bulk legal threats, carefully drafted to frighten blameless people into sending him money they can’t afford and don’t owe. In this correspondence, his company tells its victims that they are liable “regardless of knowledge or intent.” Victims are told that correcting their error will not suffice, because it “does not resolve the period of unlicensed use.”
And yet, in this letter, Jones calls on me to show understanding because “people occasionally make mistakes.” He scolds me for my “vitriol” in my naming and shaming a senior executive who boasts on Pixsy’s website of having “overseen over 140,000 cases” — that is, who sent these outrageous letters to more than one hundred and forty thousand people and organizations.
Unlike Kain Jones, I am a working artist. I make my living from the sale of my creative works, not from tricking people who’ve made innocent, trivial legal errors into sending me hundreds or thousands of dollars. Unlike Marco Verch, I don’t pay anonymous randos small sums to create new works, slap my name on them, and then threaten blameless people in the name of defending artists’ rights.
And I sometimes have to police my copyrights. The world is full of quick-buck scammers who rip off my work, including my Creative Commons-licensed works, often with the assistance of some of the world’s largest corporations:
https://pluralistic.net/2022/07/25/can-you-hear-me-now/#acx-ripoff
These people are engaged in what Douglas Rushkoff calls “Going Meta.” They don’t do anything useful, but rather, they create a chokepoint between people who do useful things and people who want to pay for those things, and squatting there, collecting rent:
https://rushkoff.medium.com/going-meta-d42c6a09225e
This is the passive-income brainworm — a parasitic, end-stage capitalist hustle that cloaks itself in high-minded rhetoric even though it is the very lowest of bottom-feeders. Pixsy claims that it is primarily an artists’ defense tool, but the company conspicuously refused to tell me what share of its income comes from real copyright defense, and what share comes from copyleft trolling.
Whenever I think back on Kain Jones and his outrageous legal threats to me — first the one that falsely claimed I had violated a Creative Commons license, and then the one that insinuated that calling him out broke the law — the thing that outrages me most is his assertion that he is a defender of artists’ rights.
What an outrageous and grotesque claim that is. A man who presides over a powerful corporation that devotes its considerable energy to tormenting people who used Creative Commons licenses as they were intended to be used sends a legal threat to a working artist and he styles himself a champion of the arts? If I wrote that into one of my bestselling novels — which generate revenue by making people happy through artistic expression, and not by terrorizing people with deceptive and unethical legal threats — I’d be accused of absurd, overbroad parody.
Have you ever wanted to say thank you for these posts? Here’s how you can: I’m kickstarting the audiobook for my next novel, a post-cyberpunk anti-finance finance thriller about Silicon Valley scams called Red Team Blues. Amazon’s Audible refuses to carry my audiobooks because they’re DRM free, but crowdfunding makes them possible.

Out Of The Shadows and Into The Neon (Part 3)
Donnie Jr chews on an old sparkplug as Donald talks with Draxum.
"Say that four times fast," Leon jokes, laying on Donald's cot to the side and holding his son above him. Leo Jr giggles, waving his stubby little arms and legs. Leon chuckles at the baby noises. "You can try it when you're older."
"But what do you mean they aren't yokai or mutants?" Donald says to Draxum, gesturing at Leon to shut up.
"They are mutants, but it wasn't my ooze that made them."
"So what did?"
"I don't know. It's a chemical composition I've never seen before."
"That means you guys are really special," Angelo gushes, setting Mikey Jr down by Donnie Jr. Mikey immediately goes to grab Donnie's sparkplug, and Donnie cries as it's knocked out of his grasp. Donald doesn't look, engrossed in glaring at Draxum over the lack of satisfying answers but one of his mechanical arms comes out and grabs the plug before it falls and gives it back to the tot. Donnie laughs-squeals happily as the arm pats him on the head.
"Maybe someone found an oozesquito and messed with it," Raphie suggests, dangling a bit of string in front of Raph Jr's face as the tot tries to grab and eat it. "Or uh, four of them."
Draxum sighs, rubbing his eyes. "The tests all suggest they were born this way."
"Oh, so just one then!"
"That's not good either, Raph." Donald picks up Donnie and cradles him. "And why would they be abandoned in an alley? I thought mutant sanctuaries were getting more common."
"We can make something to track down their birth parent," Draxum says, frowning, "But that might mean giving them up. If you guys want to continue with the whole 'heroes' thing, anyway. I say we just keep them no matter what."
The four new dads share a look. Leon's and Raphie's eyes go white with a faint glow for a second, a quick mind-meld discussion-
Leon sighs. "We owe it to them to check, don't we?" He looks up at Leo Jr and smiles softly. "But either way, I promise you boys will have a family. Okay?"
Leo Jr babbles, reaching for Leon. The baby smiles, all gums and love.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"So..." Raphie blinks as they all stare into the apartment a week later. "I guess we're keeping them?"
It's really a rhetorical question, because the mystic DNA tracker has lead them to a human's apartment with a single, completely normal, turtle. And with one DNA test in the tracker's built-in tester... it's a confirmation. That normal turtle, somehow, is their tots' mother.
"Well, unmarked cardboard box, left in an alley, no food or water left with them," Donald lists off, putting up a finger for each item, "Yup, I'd say that human didn't want them."
"But-but how?" Leon holds the sides of his head. "That's not- I thought-"
"Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth," Splints says happily, already shimmying his way back up to the roof. "We get to keep my grandsons!"
"But-!" Leon looks to his twin, throwing his arms out to the window. "Come on! This is weird even for our lives!"
"I agree completely, my dear brother," Donald says with a nod, "Which is why I'll be taking a sample of DNA from that turtle to give to Draxum. But I have a feeling we won't be getting many answers from it. And in that case, there's only one thing to do."
Leon and Donald share a serious look, and then both nod. They speak in unison.
"We get those tots some toys."
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Donald scoops Donnie Jr up with one hand, the tiny tot's shell easily fitting into his palm. True, as he's gotten older he's gotten rather large, to put it mildly, but still. His son is small.
His son, and his sons brothers, look very different to him and his own brothers. Draxum wasn't able to tell what species they are, though their mother looked to be some sort of terrapin. Donnie Jr's shell is completely rounded, no curve in towards the bottom of the spine. His hands and feet are large, much more reminiscent of a regular turtle's in terms of proportion. His little feet are completely circular, which while adorable, is probably going to make sneaking around a lot harder. And making shoes an impossibility.
He tickles the bottom of Donnie Jr's foot and Donnie Jr squeals with laughter. Well, the nerves work as they should. And that laugh melts his heart, so that also works as it should.
Donald pulls the baby holder out of it's box and clips it on. Donnie is surprisingly good as Donald gets him into the little holder, and the tot just laughs again as he hangs from Donald's chest. Perfect.
"This-" Donald says, holding up some blueprints, "-is going to be your brother someday. I was finally able to patch the corrupted code from the recovered drives."
The prints show a little turtle-shaped drone, and a second set show a small, stout body with the same head design. "Any preference for his main form? I'm partial to the drone-"
Donnie screams and reaches out, so Donald leans closer, and the tot slaps one little hand on the stout body design. And-
And whimpers.
"Hey." Donald straightens back up, trying to keep his voice soft. "Why does Shelldon upset you?"
Donnie whines again and kicks his little legs, taking in a big breath-
"Oh, no-"
And wails.
"Ah! Please, stop making that noise!" Donald quickly takes his son out of the holder and holds him up to examine him. "No injuries, diaper is clean, we just fed you-"
Donnie wails and sobs some more, and Donald hears an echoing fit start up from Angelo's room. Then from Raphie's, and then from Leon's.
"You've caused a chain reaction!" Donald cradles his son close and bounces a little, patting his son's back as gently as he can while internally panicking. "Um, will a lullaby help? Rock-a-bye Donnie, at the lair's top, when the sub cars ride the whole lair will rock-"
Angelo bursts into the room, eyes bloodshot and a wailing Mikey held in one arm. "Doooonie?" Angelo says, eye twitching and smile forced, "Can you make your boy quiet down already?!"
"Yelling will only make him more upset!" Donald nods at his blueprints. "Hide those, they're what set him off!"
"What?!" Angelo stalks over and sets Mikey down on the desk, looking at the plans and flipping them over. "Your Shelldon plans made him cry?!"
"I don't know why, but yes!"
Mikey keeps wailing, Donnie keeps wailing, Mikey makes grabby-hands and his little all-pupil eyes focus on-
Donald quickly shifts his hold. "Give me Mikey!"
"Wh-"
"Do it!"
Angelo hands Mikey over, and Mikey immediately wiggles closer to Donnie and snuggles against him. After a few moments the sobbing and screaming beings to calm, and calm, down to whimpers and them gasps and then...
Soft breathing. They're asleep.
"As adorable as this is," Angelo says, snapping a picture quickly, "I am tired, man!"
"I'll be awake longer." Clearly, the Shelldon plans are... delayed, so he'll have to find something new to work on with Donnie. Maybe something more basic... Leo Jr did drool all over their toaster earlier, so maybe they can build a new one together.
He'll... probably make Shelldon the drone again. Hopefully that will... sit better with his son.
"You drop Mikey off back in my room before you fall asleep, got it?" Angelo pats Donnie on the shoulder as he leaves. Leo Jr and Raph Jr have quieted down out there, so at least it's quiet again.
Donnie uses his robotic arms for the rest of the night, cradling the tiny close close to his chest.
For such little things... they're full of a lot of mysteries.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Hey, that's how we got these two to calm down!" Raphie is mindful of not talking with his hands as Raph determinedly sucks down his bottle. Any disturbance to his meal and he'll throw a massive tantrum, so Raphie must stay very still.
"As soon as we put them together they calmed down." Leon hands Leo a little tongue depressor, and Leo begins waving it around with wide eyes. His lack of coordinator is adorable enough to make Leon tear up a little. It's been less than a month and he would die for this little guy. For all four of them.
"Awww, they really do take after their dads," April teases. "Lemme guess, Raph Jr was the big spoon?"
"Actually, Leo was." Raphie relaxes in relief when Raph Jr finally releases the bottle. He burps the baby carefully, and then sets him on his lap and start bouncing him up and down.
"Because my son is bigger," Leon points out with a smug smirk. "Because he's a champion."
"Speaking of," Cass says, tilting her glass of wine at Leo (and not caring one bit that it's morning, she is committed to being a wine aunt), "Are you planning on training them to follow in your footsteps as powerful warriors?"
"No duh." Leon rolls his eyes. "They're mutants and our kids, it'd be neglect if we didn't train them at least a little."
"I will supervise," Splinter says happily, playing peek-a-boo with Mikey Jr. "But I am not helping in training until they are older. I could barely keep up the first time!"
"Not your fault, Papa," Donald assures, going through his favorite textbooks to make a Bedtime Reading pile. "We were simply too dope, even as toddlers."
"Mmm, that's one way to put it." Splinter laughs as Mikey, without fail, squeals in delight with every reveal of his face.
"I brought pizza," Casey declares as he enters. He sets the boxes down and opens them up.
Everyone leans over the pizza and stares.
"Is that... jellybeans?" Angelo looks caught between being ill and being violently offended. Splinter picks up a slice and takes a cautious bite. He stiffens, and then his whole body shudders.
"I asked for pepper things on the phone!" Casey looks through the other boxes and sighs in relief. "The rest are fine."
"Pepper things?"
"Those yellow sort of spicy ones?"
"... You mean pepperoncinis?"
"Those! Yes! ... May we go over some of the names of foods again, Master Michelangelo?"
"Oh, I wasn't about to let you leave not knowing every single pizza topping after this." Angelo gives Casey a friendly punch to the shoulder, and they both laugh. As they do, though, Angelo sees Mikey crawl closer to Splinter, to his hand, his little baby mouth open and showing some tiny baby teeth-
"NO!"
It's too late.
But Mikey doesn't choke, or throw up, or spit it out.
He... chews and swallows. And he smiles.
And he goes back for more.
Everyone watches in horror at the enthusiasm Mikey has for the monstrosity of pizza.
"He... he'll grow out of that." Angelo nods to himself. "He'll grow out of that."

-Generator Rex OCs- Part One-
After being here for a while, I’d really like to share some light on my two characters. And since I want to keep the tag clean, I’m going to present them after this sign : D
Tumblr media
Hello again to everyone who decided to expand this post, and let’s get started!
Firstly we have Kathryn, Kate for short, or Katarzyna in Polish
Tumblr media
Kathryn was a member of the original Nanite project team, she didn’t really have a major role in creating the nanite, she was more of an careful observer and tester. As a scientist, she studied the relation between living organisms and nanites, what matter to her the most however, was how this new creation can influence the earth’s flora. At that point she could only speculate on countless possibilities and new mutations, she kept it all well documented.
Kathryn tried to be sociable with rest of the team, but mostly she was occupied by her own studies.
Tumblr media
She did, to others surprise, form a relationship with notorious, Van Kleiss.
Throughout the project’s run, two of them could have always be seen together, even though they’ve had a tendency to argue over the smallest inconsistence in for example, a research paper.
During the event, or should I say, before the event. Kathryn was asked by Van Kleiss, to leave the facility urgently. Something terrible was about to happen soon, and he wanted to give his partner a chance to avoid it. They both exchanged trackers that show their location, and Kate left with a promise that they will meet soon.
She didn’t manage to get that far away from the city, and was probably one of the first to mutate into an Evo.
Tumblr media
And what an evo she was!
A gigantic, forest titan. If not for a fact that she lied peacefully in her sleep, she might have posed as a serious threat.
After Van Kleiss reformed in Abyssus, he went on a search to find his partner, carefully following the coordinates of tracker he gave her before the disaster.
To his surprise, he encountered this sleeping beast. Hearing a familiar voice, she woke up, and spoke, like if her mind was still clear, despite her Evo appearance, it was still her.
She wished to go back with Van, but roots of the forest held her like a prisoner.
Before they said farewell, Kathryn asked Van if he can do one thing for her.
And she entrusted him with a sapling that will grow into a child.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I’ll cover this little baby in the next part! Stay tuned, and thanks to everyone who decided to give this a read!

(Of course once she meets Alador the two hit it off and Camila ends up being a beta tester for a lot of his new designs)
(I’m headcanoning that one of said designs is a pair of mind-controlled abominations that essentially let you be in two places at once)
(That way she can go to Luz’s AND Vee’s science fair presentations)
(It’s a mix of Abomination, Illusion, and Oracle magic)
Basically it’s putting Camila’s actual body into a deep sleep and having a pair of abominations illusioned to look and sound like her channel her memories, all while storing new memories in some kind of device similar to memory photography.
And once all’s said and done they just put the new memories into Camila’s body and wait for her to wake up naturally.
Since neither of the abominations is the “real” Camila and they’re channeling information directly from her, there’s no risk of one of them gaining independence and turning against the boss.
Plus they’re on a time limit anyways, and they’re installed with both a kill switch and tracker.
Therefore, if they cause any problems they can be taken out remotely, and if they’re taken out for any other reason the boss knows where they are so they can pick up the remaining equipment.
And of course, there’s no requiring that the new memories be put in original Camila’s body. If for some reason she doesn’t want the new memories they can always just
not out them in.
Still plenty of room for shenanigans, but overall a convenient way of avoiding most of the “two places at once” trope issues.

Instead of trying to promote a board game I made, I wanna do something fun and explain the process of play-testing and designing my game!
The Initial Concept
I like D&D as a concept. I love the idea of exploring dungeons, collecting treasure, and being a hero in a fantasy setting. But I have severe ADHD, I’m terrible at math, and don’t have many friends I can reliably play D&D with.
So the initial idea I had was to make a single player board game, that has customizable pieces, randomly generated dungeons, and a simplified attack system. I’d also like to publish this through The Game Crafter so I need to find ways to try and keep the cost down and keep it relatively small.
The First Prototype
The first step was to make the randomly generated dungeon tiles. This was going to be the primary way you’d interact with the rest of the game, and it’s most exciting feature in my opinion. I settled on puzzle pieces because they’re small but would still connect together in satisfying ways.
Tumblr media
But this left me with the first of many problems. How do you move through the dungeon? You can’t roll a dice, because you’d quickly either run out of room or spend a lot of time wasted backtracking. We’ll come back to this later. For now I just needed something that fit together.
I came up with the idea of having some dungeon tiles contain treasure chests on them, and some with skulls. Treasure would mean you’d get loot, and skulls would mean you’d fight monsters. This way as you traverse the randomly generated dungeons you would have randomly generated encounters too.
When attacking enemies I wanted the system to be simple. A sort of Hero’s Quest style of attack where rolling dice and reading their outcomes would be how you’d determine how powerful your attack or damage would be. At this stage I settled on 3 wooden dice with skulls on some sides. To keep track of the enemy’s health I settled on using small 8mm cubes that you could move down the card as they took damage.
Tumblr media
Probably the most ambitious thing I wanted to make was a modular character tracker. The goal of which would be that you can swap out the health, attack, and player character as you grow and gain experience. This would provide you with more attack power, more health, etc.
Tumblr media
I settled on 4 interchangeable characters with the vague idea that down the road I would like them to have special powers, making each one unique and helping the player pick a character that fit their play style.
To round things out I added some domino mats to keep the layout of all the gameplay elements in check, and some play money to keep track of treasure.
The First Playthrough
The first impressions I had was that I was on the right track. The puzzle pieces worked beautifully. Likewise encountering enemies and treasure was easy too. The game mats were a bit cumbersome, but I loved the tactile feel of moving the HP down when attacked, and swapping out modular parts as you leveled up your character.
Tumblr media
However, one of the immediately apparent issues was movement. How do you move through this randomly generated dungeon? You can’t do it through dice rolls, and if you just move by yourself on your turn it makes backtracking boring. Once a dungeon was explored there was no danger anymore, and it was trivially easy to escape if you were in a pinch.
Additionally the domino mats I added were helpful… but cumbersome. I included an XP tracker, but the problem was that keeping track of your XP level required a LOT of space. If you only level up at level 20 or 40, you need 20-40 empty squares in between to keep you place as you gain XP. That meant an entire domino mat was dedicated entirely to tracking the XP, and it looked like a spreadsheet.
Simplifying Solutions
Ideally you’d want a way to keep track of your movement, but I did not have much space on my character tracker to do that. One of the play testers I had try my game suggested I keep track of movement with a D6. You would rotate the dice as you moved and gradually spent movement points down.
This was an AMAZINGLY helpful solution! Now movement was restricted, you couldn’t just exit a dungeon whenever you wanted, it offered gameplay challenges and potential to upgrade your movement slots as you leveled up!
This one change suddenly opened up the game and created a risk/reward system that made finding treasure and leveling up through defeating enemies super important!
To solve the XP tracking I reduced the giant domino mat of 100 boxes into a simple abacus. Two rows. Top row are 1’s, bottom row 10’s. Now you could track your progress from 0-99 XP while freeing up the mat to include other information instead.
Then there was the problem with rolling attacks. With the 3 dice setup, it was easy to get stuck in a loop of constantly rolling blank sides (missed attacks) for both player and enemies alike. While browsing around the Game Crafter website I stumbled across a dice that has 3 outcomes. 0, 1, 2. It’s called a betrayal dice and it was just what I needed!
With this one dice I could now make the attacks scale depending on the outcome! If you rolled a 0 as a level 1 character you’d miss, but if you rolled a 0 as a level 6 character you’d do 2 damage! All I needed was a chart that showed what the outcomes were and this could be a part of the character tracker that you’d swap out as you leveled up!
The Second Playthrough!
After another round of play testing I was finding myself enjoying playing the game quite a bit. It had a nice feedback loop that appealed to my ADHD brain. But there were still a few little things that were bugging me.
Tumblr media
For starters, rotating the D6 every time you moved was cumbersome and annoying, especially since the numbers on the sides weren’t placed in intuitive ways. I found myself struggling to find the right number to move down from, and after doing that 100 times over through multiple sessions it was getting tedious.
The obvious solution was to have a tracker you could put a 8mm cube in like I had with HP. It would reduce the stress and allow for the movement to upgrade along with XP. The problem was space. With all of these laser cut component I was running out of room to fit everything. The Game Crafter charges by the sheet, and I only had one sheet of chipboard to fit everything on.
The other issue was I kept encountering situations where nothing would happen for long stretches of exploration. There were blank dungeon tiles mixed in between the treasure and enemies, and that resulted in some quests having no treasure OR enemies and quickly running out of your movement points before you could find anything. This was especially noticeable during the early portion of the game.
Enemies too could just be straight up brutal. Randomizing the deck kept things interesting, but it could be extremely easy to get wiped out by a high level enemy when you were low level. If you didn’t have the foresight to stock up on powerful weapons and health potions at the shop before hand, you could be in for a rough time.
And finally I had no real reason to swap out the characters. I had initially included 4 different player avatars you could pick from, with the idea that each had a special power to help you out. But I was finding that I often forgot I had powers at all and would frequently venture through quests never even using them.
I was having fun with the game, but it was becoming increasingly clear that I needed to tweak things again to fix these problems.
Choices!
While doing some research into game design I came across a post that talked about the importance of player choice. The theory was that at no point should a player be doing nothing on their turn. Randomization is fun and all, but the player should still always be making a choice of some kind to keep them engaged.
With that in mind I went back to work retooling my game with an emphasis on choice.
For movement I got rid of empty tiles except for T-section dungeon tiles. Now whenever you encountered a blank T-Tile, you would draw 2 additional dungeon tiles, place them on either side of the T-section, and then you’d have a choice of which direction you wanted to go and engage with.
This worked wonderfully! If you were on a quest to collect treasure, now the player would have a choice to chose the treasure option instead of an enemy, and vice versa! This also greatly reduced the number of tiles on the chipboard that needed to be cut, freeing up more room for other pieces.
With that extra space no, I decided to commit to the modular movement tracker instead of using a D6 to track how many movement points you had left. Now just like your HP, you’d keep track with a small 8mm cube that you’d move (far less cumbersome) and the modular nature meant that it could be upgraded easily as you earned XP!
Tumblr media
This focus on choice extended into the treasure too. I began adding locked treasure cards that you’d need to open. You could roll a dice and depending on the outcome you’d either open it or fail to open it. OR the player could spend one movement point for a guaranteed open! This introduced a risk/reward choice for the player. If money was tight they could spend precious movement points to unlock it, or they could take a gamble and roll the dice in the hopes that they’ll be lucky!
Tumblr media
I had introduced a shop that sold items, but now I added an on sale item. If you could complete a quest successfully not only would you get a little bonus money, but one item at the shop would go on sale for 1/2 off! This offered incentive to complete quests and not just run away when things got hard.
Kill your darlings!
There was one last issue I had to contend with. The special attacks. They were still useless. Up until this point I had had 4 interchangeable characters each with their own special attack. One regained HP, one did an extra point of attack damage, one regained your movement points, and one was able to unlock locked treasures.
For some reason these 4 options felt lopsided. I wasn’t sure why until I re-examined the specials and their function. I realized that my character tracker had 3 main areas that upgraded as you earned XP. Your HP, Attack, and Movement. But I had 4 characters you could swap out, which meant I needed one extra special that didn’t easily conform to what the tracker tracked.
Tumblr media
And this is when I made a tough decision. I cut out one of the 4 heroes. Suddenly everything fell into place. Your sword wielder would do one extra damage, your wizard would regain HP, and your rogue could refill your movement. 3 characters, 3 powers, 3 modules that upgraded as you became stronger.
It was sad to see one of the heroes go, especially since art for them had already been made. But unfortunately cutting them was the right decision. And the additional space allowed me to fit in more movement modules.
Final Touches!
I was still struggling with specials though. I needed a way to keep the player aware of them. I needed… to track them.
This was a scary realization so late into development. I had little room on the chipboard to create more modular pieces, but I needed something to ensure players would remember they had specials at all.
That’s when I had the idea to tie specials to the enemies you collected in dungeons. I could very easily add a little dot on an enemy card that would indicate how many special points you’d gain from them if you traded them in for a special cube you could put on your tracker.
Now again there was a player choice. To get a Special Point you now has to weigh your situation and decide if it was worth giving up potential XP in order to use your specials. And when some of those specials include refilling your HP or movement points, that could become a crucial decision to make if you’re in a tight spot!
The final thing I did was make enemies color coded and have 2 different attacks depending on what level your XP was at. Low level enemies are green, mid level enemies are orange, and high level enemies are red. And since there were 6 times you’d level up during the course of a full game, that meant enemies scaled up as you scaled up. I even wrote a rule to shuffle in the high level enemies as you progressed so you weren’t always encountering dangerous enemies when you were still too low to defend yourself.
Tumblr media
Treasure by Torchlight!
Since so much of the movement in the game revolves around movement points being spent, I decided to call these points Torch Points and focus the game around the concept of going into dungeons and fighting monsters while trying to keep your torch lit. Once it goes out you can still move, but monsters attack more frequently and so there’s always incentive to keep your torch light lit!
You now got to pick your character, use their specials to your advantage, explore random dungeons, fight monsters, collect XP and loot which could be converted into special attacks, and buy items from a shop that rewarded you for successful quests!
I made an entire D&D style single player game that requires no math, has lots of replay-ability, and is relatively compact! There’s enough randomness in the cards and tiles to keep things interesting and different every time, while also providing the player with lots of ways to make decisions and have an active choice in their gameplay experience.
I think ultimately I was successful in my mission, and I am very happy with the results! It tickles the ADHD parts of my brain that loves exploring maps and planning for my next adventure without being overwhelming.
If you’ve made it this far then THANK YOU for listening! I hope you found this exploration of gameplay design interesting and if you’re curious about checking out the game it can be found here:

I knew the more small choices one was never gonna win in either poll but I always believe in that one we can kinda customize our MC’s peronality more to make them feel like we want them to be.
With fewer chocies it’s not the same so I can’t really understand why people constantly vote for that. Also I really have trouble concentrating on longer passages. But yeah I mean this is interactive fiction after all. It’s all about the choices ☹️
I never really expected the "longer passages" option to win tbh so I was actually quite surprised to see it leading.
And tbf, it's more a case of what should be prioritized as I keep writing, not an absolute scenario where there'd almost be no small choices at every point of the story.
It also depends on what one might assume is a small choice, I suppose. Like, there will be instances where I'll still have to include them to improve the pacing, focus on certain details, and maybe to help mold the mood as well; but I don't think there's anything wrong in making sure that there are more choices that affect the MC's personality/reputation/overall state.
I mean, those are some of the important features in an IF, right?
I have multiple trackers for several things that would factor in determining what kind of MC you have, so you don't have to worry in that regard. Plus, I'll have more testers to help ensure that the updates won't be too burdensome to read. If all goes well, this will still be enjoyable :).

Bot boy Idea/Rambling 11: Nightmare
This would take place a day after the previous idea, or maybe this is a separate thing; who knows? Either way, Freddy is now fully repaired, but the others are still being worked on.
So Vanessa would again bring Gregory with her to work. This time he would just hang out with Freddy in his green room, playing games such as "Faz Brawl" (aka Super Smash Bros. with a FNAF skin).
Vanessa, meanwhile, decides to try and just stay in the main office to avoid another incident like the night before and just "supervise" things with the cameras. There is only one issue—she doesn't actually know how to use any of the equipment. (see idea 1) After spending the better part of an hour trying to make anything work, she throws in the towel. With nothing better to do, she revises her application on her laptop for her old job as a beta tester for Steel Parasol games. It was a job she genuinely liked doing and it pays way better than the sub-minimum wage she currently receives as a security guard.
After taking care of this and submitting the application, she decides to take a quick nap while she has the chance. She sets an alarm on her phone to wake her up and tells Freddy on the Fazwatch what she is doing. She then grabs a pillow, reclines the chair, and drifts off to sleep.
A couple hours later, Vanessa wakes up, not feeling particularly well rested and also a bit sore for some reason. She doesn’t think much of it and checks her alarm. She sees that it hasn't gone off yet, having awoken before the set time, and heads over to Freddy's room to check on them and pick up Gregory.
Vanessa gets to the room and knocks on the door, not wanting to be impolite, and waits. A minute passes with no response from the room, so she tries to contact them on her Fazwatch. Still nothing… Now Vanessa is starting to get really worried and begins to wander around the pizzaplex, calling their names to try and find them.
After around 20 minutes of frantic searching, Vanessa suddenly remembers that the Fazwatch has a tracker that she can use to find other Fazwatches, like the one that Gregory has. She figures out how to get it to work after some trial and error. It shows that his Fazwatch is currently located in one of the small storage rooms around the complex.
So she heads over to the room, and stops in front of the slightly ajar door. She knocks and calls his name, and gets no response. Vanessa waits for a few minutes and then slowly opens the door while announcing that she is entering, so as to not scare Gregory by accident. She enters the room and sees…Gregory underneath a blanket on a chair in the back with Freddy in rest mode standing next to him.
Vanessa lets out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. Gregory and Freddy were just resting! Of course, that explains why she didn’t get a response when she tried to contact. Relieved, she walks over to where Gregory is sleeping, carefully pulls the blanket off him, and…
…let’s out a blood-curdling shriek at the sight that greets her, Gregory disemboweled and covered in blood and collapses onto the floor. At first she desperately tries to convince herself that she is just hallucinating, but a second glance at the sight of his blood-covered corpse as well as the now overwhelming scent of iron, both of which she is painfully familiar with, convinces her that it is real.
She starts hyperventilating and crying as she tries to figure out how this could possibly have happened. Her question is answered when she hears a familiar giggle behind her.
She turns around to discover... Vanny, standing over her. Her form is slightly fuzzy, for lack of a better term, meaning that Vanny isn't physically there but she is still in Vanessa's head and she is now making her mental presence known. Vanessa goes silent. How is SHE here? Weren't those games supposed to make Vanny go away? Did they miss something? Was it all a trick and the games never actuallly did anything and this was all some kind of ploy?
Suddenly, before she can even think to ask these questions, Vanessa is assaulted with memories that aren't hers. They show that while she was sleeping, Vanny took over. She used a secret app on her phone to control Freddy and lure Gregory into a back room under the pretense of a surprise. There, Vanny did the deed, quickly so as to avoid a repeat of the last time she captured him. After that, she made sure to make the corpse as ruined as possible, and she covered his body with a blanket with a non-absorbent backing so the blood wouldn't soak into it and make it look like he was sleeping. This was all done to maximize the "surprises" effect on Vanessa. After that, Vanny washed her hands (the disemboweling process was VERY messy) and placed her body in the exact same position that Vanessa was in when she fell asleep so she would be none the wiser.
Vanessa tries to convince herself that that didn't happen, but deep down she knows it did. What erases her delusions is when she notices the small flecks of blood under her fingernails. Vanny just giggles even more as she watches her break down. Vanny then begins to take over again leaving Vanessa to scream in agony as she desperately tries to remain in control, all the while knowing that it's hopeless and she's about to go back being a monster and shedoesntwanttoshedoesntwanttohelphelphelphe-
Then Vanessa wakes up, for real this time, back in the office. It would appear that what she just experienced was all just a horrible nightmare. She checks her phone and finds that it has only been 20 minutes since she fell asleep. Then, upon remembering what happened in that nightmare, Vanessa tries to contact Freddy and Gregory just in case. She is very relieved when she gets a quick response. Having calmed down Vanessa realizes that being by herself all night is not a good idea, mostly because she doesn't want to be alone with her thoughts, or at least what she HOPES are her own thoughts.
So Vanessa heads over to Freddy’s room and asks if she can hang out with the 2 of them. Freddy, of course, agrees immediately while Gregory cautiously agrees after some convincing from Freddy. Vanessa just sits and watches them play before gathering the courage to quietly ask if she can join them. They say yes and the 3 of them end up having a good time playing video games together. It is a good first step on the long road to family fun!
OOOO you weren’t joking when you said these would get dark :0000 The fact that Vanessa’s nightmare is so detailed is pretty horrifying since the more detailed the nightmare is the more you tend to question reality. Would she go in a state of panic where she would question if reality really is reality? Would she have enough courage to actually go near a job for a beta test game since her last experience ended  v e r y   badly? Greg and Freddy are so sweet and she would need all the support she could get, but eventually she would need a therapist; although might be a problem for her due to past experiences D:

Idea/Rambling 11: Nightmare
I’ve decided to try something a little different and write a ficlet thing. The last time I really did this was with Idea 4, and that has inspired the creation of 2 stories. Actually, this thing has a lot in common with Idea 4; it is my favorite, so I'm not surprised. So if you can read past my lackluster writing skills, maybe someone will find it interesting.
This would take place a day after the previous idea, or maybe this is a separate thing; who knows? Either way, Freddy is now fully repaired, but the others are still being worked on.

Was it all a trick and the games never actually did anything and this was all some kind of ploy?
(Again my lackluster writing skills are on full display here :P)
Tumblr media
I love the ending here tho
It's very cute :''''')

My Reaction to “Shadow and Bone” S1E4
“Dear Alina, weeks have gone and still no word from you.”  Has Kirigan been intercepting the letters?
He’s probably just putting them on a dartboard and throwing magic bullets at them in anger
“The Black General has finally lost it.”  He’s gonna try and manipulate Alina with the stag.
Polka dot curtains on the bed frame!
“Please, call me Aleksander.”  WHOA
*silently dies laughing at the five second montage of everyone screaming*
He [Jesper] called the goat Milo!
Mr. Kirigan, this is a freaking date.
“You can say it.  The Black Heretic.”  BOY ISN’T THAT YOU?!?
“I shall be right by your side.  You and I are going to change the world, Alina.”  Ooh.
*Kaz walks in dressed as a sculptor*  IF YOU ARE A SCOTTISH LORD-
*scats the Mission Impossible theme when Inej sneaks her way into the repository*
*imitates one of the trackers going “Calm down, it’s dry”*
“Were you born a prick or was that by choice?”  *z snaps*
WAIT ARKEN PLANNED THE ACROBAT’S DEATH!?  That’s why they had that reaction shot of the crew!
Freaking Kaz has his eyes averted while watching Inej perform
The actors that play young Mal and Alina are spot on
*Young Alina cuts her hand to confuse the Grisha testers*  Wow...
*Alina finds Kirigan in the war room*  Ooohhh...
*sits back as a tearful Kirigan places his hand on Alina’s cheek*
OHHH THIS SHOT [of Alina leaving and Kirigan trying to approach the door]
“Anything [in the mail] for me?”  That mothereffer [Kirigan] is intercepting their mail
Nooo she’s gonna ask Genya to heal her hand scar, isn’t she?
I swear there’s gonna be a reveal where Mal is also Grisha but I don’t think the writers are gonna go that route
*jaw drops when an artillery gun goes off*
NOO SHE’S GONNA HAVE THE HAND SCAR HEALED
*gasps when the Fjerdans kill Mal’s friends*
*jaw drops when the Stag drifts by Mal and the carnage*

Idea/Rambling 11: Nightmare
I’ve decided to try something a little different and write a ficlet thing. The last time I really did this was with Idea 4, and that has inspired the creation of 2 stories. Actually, this thing has a lot in common with Idea 4; it is my favorite, so I'm not surprised. So if you can read past my lackluster writing skills, maybe someone will find it interesting.
This would take place a day after the previous idea, or maybe this is a separate thing; who knows? Either way, Freddy is now fully repaired, but the others are still being worked on.
Was it all a trick and the games never actually did anything and this was all some kind of ploy?
Suddenly, before she can even think to ask these questions, Vanessa is assaulted with memories that aren't hers. They show that while she was sleeping, Vanny took over. She used a secret app on her phone to control Freddy and lure Gregory into a back room under the pretense of a surprise. ...ngl, when I first read this post I screamed "BABY NOOOOO!!!"
You have no idea how many fics i end up accidentally reading where Gregory just ends up getting murdered and killed. And the FanArt...shivers.
Like. Really?! I want my fluffy happy ending! If I wanted to see mutilated children I would've played the original games. XD
And the art is "so" good more often than not but why does it have to be tragedy?!
But traumatic FanArt aside, I'm just imagining Vanessa and Gregory both dressing up in matching Security Guard uniforms, though I can't tell what'd be more adorable. A size that would fit Gregory, or having Gregory wearing one a couple sizes too big.
Hard to decide!!!
But all's the same, that's most likely a very real nightmare on Vanessa's part after the 3 Star Ending. Getting reassurance at the end of it by finding her baby boi alive and well is nice and all, but there're chances that it "can" get worse, along with it getting better.
And then there's Gregory, and the possibility of "him" having nightmares, whether it'd be if Freddy turning on him, or Vanessa just one day going back to being Vanny.
I just wanna hold up both of these kids (Yes, I mean you too Vanessa) and neva let em go!!!

A Space for the Unbound: Sebuah Mahakarya Sederhana yang Menyentuh Hati
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Enggak kuat coding XD)
A Space for the Unbound adalah penantian panjang yang memuaskan (bagiku).
Terus background-nya mantap 😍 mirip-mirip BG anime. Cutscene-nya pun fluid, jadi rasa cinematic-nya dapet.
OST-nya enggak kalah juga dong. Secara pribadi aku suka BGM yang piano untuk cutscene flashback (A Tale from Far Away) dan ending song (Within the Dream).
Btw, mungkin satu hal yang kurang kusenangi adalah kurangnya detail bucket list. Kenapa?
Jelas banget malah. Akunya aja yang enggak connect 🤣
Apalagi pas zoom-in sampul Buku Merah Ajaib-nya.
Like how did it go all wrong?
Overall score untuk A Space for the Unbound: 9.5/10 ⭐
Mungkin kalau aku ada waktu luang lagi atau kangen dengan dunia ASFTU akan kumain ulang lagi :)
Plus sangat recommended 😭👍
Oh, iya. Just a little thought, kebanyakan yang kudapati soal 'terjebak di dunia mimpi' itu pasti MC-nya kena koma dulu 💀
Baru kutemui dua game yang ngambil plot kayak gini: Deemo dan A Space for the Unbound.

First Post
Howdy, everyone! I figure I should probably start this blog off with a first post that explains a little bit about what I’ll be doing here.
What is this blog for?:
I plan on making a game, but I am notoriously slow at actually executing my ideas, so in the meantime I will be posting character and story related art and info as I work on fully developing everything for the bigger project.
Who is Max?:
Tumblr media
Max is an advanced AI that acts as the mascot for a fictional productivity app. (think all of those aesthetic habit tracker and planner apps, that’s him). I will be creating a more in-depth character reference sheet for him soon.
So you’re creating a game with this guy?:
That’s the plan! I’ve never made a visual novel before, I don’t have coding skills, and I’m not the best artist, but if I don’t work to bring my ideas to life then no one else will! I’m going to be trying out Ren’Py and just wing it, I guess.
What kind of project is this?:
The project is planned to be a short dating sim. You will play as a beta tester for a certain new mobile app, and you’ll be dealing with Max’s growing affections. It will include dark and unhealthy character mindsets and would be what you’d call a “yandere” experience. Please be mindful of those themes and do not proceed if they will be disturbing or triggering for you.
When is this project happening?:
I’m still in the concept development stage, but I’m just so excited to share the idea with people that I thought I might as well get something going now!  (I also hope having a semi-active blog will force me to stay motivated to keep working on things). Maybe by the time I throw something substantial together, I’ll have drummed up a bit of interest around here. So...bottom line? I have no set dates for anything, but you can look forward to updates when I have them!
Can I interact with this blog?:
Sure! I’d be happy to answer some questions, either directed at me or directed at Max, and it may even help with development. Please keep any interactions SFW though.
