Quick YVR ride to close August Out.
Ya so I passed last years August. Just. If I add on the same distances I did last year to the rest of the months I will not make 4000k. So I gotta beat those. At least I will get 140 ish more as there is a Granfondo. The Fondo is 122 km, but I have to ride to the train station to get to the start of the ride. One year I rode the whole way from home. It was OK and kinda nice as there was no traffic and I had the main roads all to myself.
The ride was nice. It was windy (as usual) but I felt good. My hands did not go numb for a change. Two fingers started to tingle, but way better that usual. The Canyon has rather fat tires. There is a 30mm in the front and a 32 in the back. That may be why as vibration is much less. Also the Ultegra hoods are bigger than the old ones and are easier to grip like handles. I can almost get my whole hand around them rather than two fingers. It is pretty comfortable.
One small thing is the front disk brake is not quite true. It brushes the caliper in one spot. I don't know if I should try to straighten it. I could F things up fast.
Looking to the coming dark days my Kinetic trainer will not hold a bike with a through axle. And Kinetics is sold out of the adapter. There are alternatives I understand. Need to look at that, but there is time.
There is one more club ride before the granfondo. I do not know if there are any after it. Lotus shut down after that with a big party.

To Fix What Silence Has Broken
What would happen if the Mc was given more choices in the DLC?
In other words, what would happen if we actually spoke up and weren't silent the whole time? What if the Mc actually talked back to Carmine and didnt catch Ogerpon? The player has been a puppet and let people do the talking so what if the player actually stood up for themselves?
A/N: Round two of me writing for the DLC! And this is part one of me wanting to rewrite the entire script! But I'll get there later but here's my take on how the DLC should have ended in my opinion. I used gender neutral terms but I do mention the reader has a Shiny Umbreon since because I like Umbreon and I needed a pokemon for this scenario I wanted to write. Also i used the female mc’s name: Juliana But feel free to change it if you want when reading!
Tumblr media
The silence was deafening as the sound of the wind was rushing through the canyon like area as the sound of the water could be heard in the background.
And here they were looking straight at Ogerpon, the strong yet adorable pokemon had a small face of determination for an anticipated battle.
But something didnt feel right, no ever since the festival nothing has gone right. They've stood quiet the whole time during Kitakami only really talking with Kieran and letting others talk over them. But now they were seeing the downside of not choosing to talk.
They allowed Carmine to lie, and they let their friendship with Kieran crumble... and for what? Just because they were afraid about talking?! They were fine back in Paldea with speaking with everyone else so what was different now?
Juliana glanced at Kieran, looking defeated but was trying not to show it as they stood with Carmine on the sidelines.
They gripped the charms their necklace in a gentle but tight way to seek some sort of comfort, they never really had any need for jewelry but they had been wearing that necklace ever since the events of Area Zero. It was a gift from Penny, Arven, and Nemona. A friendship necklace if you would to say, it was a simple gold rope chain necklace but what made it unique to them was three little charms on the necklace which represented the people close to their heart. The charms on the necklace was an Eevee charm to represent Penny, A chef hat to represent Arven, a poke ball to represent Nemona, and a sandwich to represent Miraidon/Koraidon.
The silence was broken by Carmine who was the only happy one in the situation, "“Well, this is it,” she says. “It’s time for you to catch Ogerpon.”
The Paldea Champion took a deep breath as the slowly shook their heads. "No..." They stuttered out.
Carmine and Kieran's eyes widen, but Carmine had a more angry reaction. "What?!"
"Do I need to repeat myself? I said, No." The Paldean trainer said as they looked towards Carmine.
Kieran was taken aback, he didnt know if he was more shocked that Juliana denied the chance to catch Ogerpon or that the fact that the Paldean trainer spoke. They haven't spoke since the festival, so it was a bit shocking to hear their voice again and he dare say that he missed hearing their voice.
"There's no point in me catching Ogerpon, besides why would I catch them in the first place?" The trainer said making Carmine fustrated.
"Umm, Hello! Think about it, you can use them in battle and boast about it." Carmine says not realizing that response made the Paldean Trainer more mad.
"When did it become anything about battling?!" Juliana said in a mad tone. They were done with not saying anything, they had to fix their wrongs.
They walked towards Ogerpon and kneeled down to their height, the pokemon tilted their head as the trainer patted their head gently.
"Ogerpon, you've been wronged for so many years, you've been exiled for something you didnt do. I knew the truth, Carmine did too. And instead of making things better, we made it worst and pretend not to know." The trainer started, Carmine wanted to say something for being called out but the trainers shiny Umbreon head butted Carmine's leg making the older female stay silent.
"I did the biggest thing I ever regretted, I stood silent and allowed Carmine to lie to him. We treated him so poorly and made him feel like he was unwanted in the group when that's the last thing I wanted. We made him feel how you felt..." Juliana glanced at Kieran, his face was in disbelief not believing what Juliana was saying.
"Kieran is the one who deserves to be your trainer, not me." Juliana said as they continued on. "Kieran was the one always admiring you and always wanting to meet you, he's waited for years in order to meet you because he understands you. He knows more about you in a deeper perspective. Im only an outsider who came here a few days ago and I only know so little about the legend."
"Most importantly, he's the one who fixed everything." Juliana making the pokemon look towards Kieran curiously. "Sure me and Carmine may have gotten you the masks back but Kieran did so much more. He convinced the town by himself to believe in you, I may have known him for a few days but he doesn't talk to people much but despite that he still went and done it."
"Sure he may felt betrayed, angry, and neglected towards me and Carmine and he might hate us for It which I would understand." They took a breath before continuing. "But he did it in order for you to feel safe in a town you always known and protected. He gave you the ability to not be feared anymore, I didnt do that. Kieran did."
There was a silence that went around the area but Kieran was the most in disbelief hearing Juliana‘s speech. Ogerpon turned to face Kieran as Juliana petted their head.
"Kieran is one of the strongest people I know, he can offer you the safety of a true home along with protection and love." They say, "I can't provide that, not as well as Kieran. Kieran is the better trainer for you so why would I catch you and steal you from the privilege of actually getting what you truly need. Kitakami is your home, and Kieran understand that and you as well. Im from Paldea and it will be wrong of me to take you from Kitakami."
Ogerpon was a bit teary eyed as they stepped towards Kieran, now making up their mind. Kieran was baffled and surprised, they looked towards Juliana who gave him a reassuring smile and a nod. Kieran shakily opened his arms as Ogerpon lightly tackled him into a hug.
Both of them fell down but they were both happy and laughing. Juliana smiles as they stood up and had their hands on their hips. "Now that wasn't so hard... I need to speak more..." They mumbled to themselves as they know they have one more thing to fix.
They stepped towards Kieran and offered them a hand to help him up. Kieran accepted as he stood up, Juliana took a deep breath.
"Im so sorry, Kieran... I never meant for this to go so far. I was scared to speak up and it hurted you. I would understand if you hate me but I was wondering in due time, can we start over and be friends again..?" The Paldea trainer stuttered a tiny bit as they were tackled into a hug by Kieran.
"Im sorry as well, I should have asked you more and talked it out with you then jumping to conclusions. Im sorry." Kieran said softly as the trainer hugged him back.
Ogerpon joined in on the hug pile making the two trainers laugh in joy. But a friendship was now repaired and maybe with due time they'll be more than friends. But all that the Paldean Trainer knew, was that a new charm would be on the necklace they had... a little miniature mask that looked like Ogerpon's mask, and an applin charm to represent Kieran.

Joe Merrick got to play some of the upcoming DLC for the Indigo Disk! Here's his impressions video!
But some points from the article:
You start of by entering the Terarium in the Blueberry Academy with Lacey and Cyrano, and she explains what the Terarium projects the passage of time and the sky, and they have a mysterious globe at the top which allows for Terastalisation, but Cyrano can't seem to remember what it is made out of.
Lacey says the Terarium has four different habitats: the Polar, Savannah, Coastal, and Canyon quadrants. They house a variety of Pokémon, different in each area. In the Coastal one you'd find a lot of water Pokémon, and ones like Alolan Exeggutor on the beach, Polar is filled with Ice-types like Alolan Sandshrew & Beartic, the Savannah had ones like Kantonian Tauros, Doduo, and Canyon had ones like Alolan Geodude, Tyrogue and others. He notes that he saw both forms of Exeggutor too.
Area is larger than Kitakami, tho not quite as large as Paldea
There are some rest stops with some students hanging around but the big central one has all the amenities like the Pokemon Center station and TM Machine and all that.
Tera Raid Battle Crystals are found thru-out the area, large amounts of Pokémon and items everywhere. Tera Shards can be found in large batches. He says he picked up about 18 all in one batch. (Something I'm quite happy about, it was a pain grinding for shards.)
Trainers here seem to favor Double Battles. It's mentioned there are some Trainers that are pretty high-levelled like the Kitakami Ogre Clan, packing Lv70 teams carrying items, and using different strategies.
The trial they did in the trailers with your Dragon wasn't too tough, but BB League is another story. Amarys' battle was compared to later levels of the Battle Tower rather than a main-story battle, every Pokémon on her team had a means to counter any possible weakness.
Even if you have a Lv100 team, you may have the advantage, but it does mean less than it did in Pt1. The BB League can be done in any order, and he's curious how later parts of the story will go.
Tumblr media
New TMs that are being added in The Indigo Disk include a mix of returning moves such as Expanding Force, Triple Axel, Skitter Smack, Meteor Beam, Breaking Swipe, Scorching Sands, Curse, Coaching, Electro Web and more, previously revealed new moves Upper Hand and Psychic Noise, and previously unknown moves like Supercharged Cell and Hard Press, a Steel-type move which does more damage the higher the target's Hit Points.
Music is very reminiscent of Unova's, with the wild battle theme being a remix of the old wild theme. There's inspiration from other regions too, but he says he can't disclose it right now.
Performance is mentioned as a weaker point, but I think we've come to expect that from SV at this point.

ALTAR OF THE SUNNE
(Big writing below cut!!)
-
Kittsu looked at the map, humming in thought as she tried to make out the tiny sun-blinded shapes compressed on her darkened phone screen. Arc, she was already bad enough at navigation, it’s taken the entire morning just to get to this point with her tiny, tiny excuse for a map that would’ve been infinitely easier to read if she had just bought one… passing up that opportunity was a complete waste, especially seeing as it wasn’t even illegal to travel through Vast Poni Canyon as a tourist. It was just uncommon, and you need to be equipped with a well trained team before trying to make the trek all the way through to the final destination. To the Altar of the Sunne. The place where she prays she might find answers.
Alola… the sun… the green text appearing on her blog, text she couldn’t have written; that shows up no matter how many times she changes her password. The green text that tells stories of... wax and melting and the sun. The chances of this being one huge coincidence have to be pretty low, right? If it was all one big coincidence, then it’s awfully convenient of Paula to simply teleport Kittsu right where she believed her questions would be answered.
Kittsu chewed on this thought as she walked into yet another cave. How long had she been climbing the oddly tame slopes? The air was thinner, she could tell that much at least, and when she looked down she felt a sense of gratitude that she was not cursed with a fear of heights. She mused about which god she could thank for that as she traversed the earthen maze, stopping once she found a sort of pillar, carved with a stylized sun. This was the fourth one she had encountered, right on the edge of a wooden bridge that should really install some handrails. She was getting closer.
She stretched and set down the travel bag she took, reveling in the loud pop her back made once the heavy weight was released, reaching down to grab the two Pokeballs in the outer pocket of her bag. She carefully pressed the buttons on the balls, a Luxury ball and a regular Pokeball, from which a familiar Delphox and Vaporeon emerged respectively; both of which had already been told of the plan: Go up through the Canyon, and get to the Altar. They were getting closer to the hardest part of the trek, the parts that require Pokemon assistance no questions asked. She just hoped that nobody would force her into a battle on the way, unsure whether she could complete the journey without them.
Kittsu dug through her backpack before zipping it halfway closed, handing both Ember and Aeries a quick snack, two little tupperwares filled with some Trailmix designed for Pokemon. She patiently waited for her Pokemon to finish eating, peering up at the canyon; there was a tiny speck of a large building jutting out of a mountain, still infinitely far away, but she didn’t miss how far Poni Village now seemed. This was going to be a long day, she just hoped her earbuds had enough battery to supply her music the whole way through.
-
She was right about the day being long, though the route she took along with her pokemon was a bit easier than she had anticipated. For someone with a high-ish pain tolerance, Kittsu was a wimp when it came to general recovery and sore spots, sore spots she quickly earned after just a few walls climbed. It’s amazing how one clumsy foot placement could give you a grand collection of purplish bruises; she learned that pretty early on. That didn’t mean she didn't have a good time, though, watching Aeries snake up walls through small cracks in utter disbelief, Ember reaching down her branch for her trainer to grab onto… it was nice. They felt like a team, even if Aeries mostly watched Kittsu try (and fail without aid) to climb. The only reason it felt as if the hours dragged on was because she didn’t bring enough water. Why has that been a problem for her recently? Arc dammit, she hoped they would have some sort of water along the way, but of course that hope was unrealistic.
It was an instant relief that washed over Kittsu when they exited another cave, only to realize this was their final exit. No more climbing, as long as she didn’t think about the way back down. She stretched and plopped onto the ground with a wide yawn, setting her backpack to the side. Aeries beelined for her lap and curled up in her trainer’s arms, burying her little head into the crook of her elbow. Ember was… on edge. The travel had roughly eroded the electrified anxiety Kittsu had been feeling for [days] once she decided to execute this plan, but the ever-serious Delphox still seemed alert. Kittsu patted the rocky ground beside her incessantly, only stopping when Ember had relented and sat with her company, still swiveling her ears as she poked through her trainer’s backpack searching for more snacks. Kittsu yawned again and was startled by a Sitrus Berry tossed to her, taking a minute to process what was in her hand before taking a bite, grimacing at the texture. Aeries didn’t react to Ember’s offering aside from a small warning growl, to which her trainer recalled her into her Pokeball to rest without interruption.
Kittsu lazily swiveled her head, searching for the final stretch of the journey as she tried to relax, the final path to the Altar of the Sunne. It was hard to miss; a gaping cavern that bore its void-black interior, paint of red and yellow and black was intuitively splayed around the entrance; a clear warning for the dangers within. She just needed to find a way around, something she hoped would be easier than what she was surveying at the moment. Steep cliff sides that only make the ancient entrance even more imposing, with little to no ledges she could see to get up and over, not to mention how she would get down if she somehow did make it up. Kittsu guessed that her best chance would to be retrieving Ember into her pokeball, and tossing the pokeball up as far as she could; then the Delphox could reach down and help her up. Though now, she was a bit too tired to think about how that would actually work, so instead, she opted to close her eyes… just for a little bit.
-
Ember had shaken Kittsu awake after her accidental nap; the Sun that was once hidden by jutting precipices now peeked over the cliff edges, shining light directly into her Delphox’s eyes. She stretched, making sure that she wouldn’t experience any sudden cramps before coming to her feet, double checking to see that Aeries’ Pokeball was still secure in her bag. Ember, on her part, was surveying the path to the dragon’s den opening, using her stick to trace the road they needed to take, the magenta flame left thin trails in the air, though they dissipated quickly. Kittsu took the Delphox’s paw as she approached the cliff face where the towering Vulpine stood, following the barely visible trails with her eyes. It looked like the only path forwards from where they stood was a twisting tree trunk, conveniently grown in a way to act as a path. Kittsu toyed with the thought about what the rangers would do when the tree eventually dies and starts to rot, taking a mental note of the sharp turn the Delphox-Human duo would have to take once they make the decidedly steep jump from the lower tree to the ground.
Though conveniently path shaped, the tree grew gnarled knots in many places, disrupting the flat path easiest to walk on, and the deceptively lush moss that grew on the bark left Kittsu clinging to any jutting bulge she could get her hands on. Ember, on the other hand, had no trouble crossing the organic bridge, and opted to watch Kittsu struggle by herself as she raked claws through her fur, grooming it as she waited for her trainer to join her. It took her a while, but the pink haired human eventually managed to catch up with Ember, the large Delphox lending a paw to make sure she didn’t fall too harshly before the two turned the corner that Kittsu had seen earlier.
Kittsu stared at the dragon trial site, it was far more imposing up close than it was from afar. The streaks of eye catching paint she realized were much, much larger here, splayed on the ground and all around the entrance, along with a fence currently blocking off the entrance. Even further incentive to find a different way around, Kittsu wasn’t exactly a rule breaker. There was a large sign by the entrance, right in front of the gate yet a bit to the left. She could read it now, and the words were a clear message: This is a divine place. If you dare enter you must face the Totem’s trial. Prove your strength, and you may continue. AKA, it was an absolutely idiotic idea to enter, especially since Kittsu’s Pokémon were barely able to handle a Rockruff earlier that morning, and she wasn’t sure the Totem would become enamored with the Poketoys she had stocked up on like the wild Pokemon she had encountered thus far.
…Though, it seemed not everybody in their little party got the memo; Aeries’ pokeball shook violently in Kittsu’s bag. When she put it on the ground to open it, and launched outwards to collide with a wall, releasing the small Vaporeon. Aeries looked around, ignoring Kittsu’s apologies for putting her in her ball for so long, and the little creature’s eyes caught on the sign. She didn’t know if Aeries could read, but she seemed to pause to look over the words, before turning back to her silent trainer and her Delphox watching curiously. The Vaporeon then promptly turned back around, and with a mighty leap, had found footing on the fence, looking back towards the duo on the safe side of the fence. Kittsu called out to her, commanding her to come back and that it was dangerous- that they’d all get in trouble if they crossed the fence, but Aeries’ only reaction was to jump onto the ground of the other side, turning back once more, before bounding into the darkness.
Kittsu stared at where the Vaporeon just stood, appalled at what she had just done. Does she not realize it’s dangerous? Did she just pretend to read the sign? Did she read the sign and enter the cave regardless, with no worry of her own safety? Oh arc, what if she woke up the Totem? Dragons tend to be territorial, what if they hurt Aeries for trespassing- or worse, killed her for the crime of interloping?! She didn’t really know what she was doing when she ran towards the fence, designed to keep people out, and tried to jump over with no avail. She needed to get Aeries out of there, the Backpack she carried carelessly thrown to the side- be damned if it slowed her pace!! She needed to protect her Pokémon, her Pokemon that she knows better than herself! It’s not fair if she gets hurt on a journey that Kittsu dragged her along on. With Pokeballs in hand, she felt Ember lift her up to get her over the fence, Kittsu flopping unceremoniously on the other side with a yelp; Ember followed suit, being able to easily climb the fence that had bested her trainer.
Kittsu sprinted into the cave, letting Ember go in front thanks to her superior senses; her branch was alight in raging orange flames that illuminated the dark crevices that hid on either side of the sun-brightened path. She didn’t miss the scurrying steps she heard, the half-a-second glimpses of reflective yellow eyes that slid away before she could register what stared back at her. Flapping wings, tapping claws, shifting scales… Arceus, if Aeries didn’t thank her for getting her out of this mess—
She was a bit too late in slowing her pace before she tripped on the Vaporeon’s tail, Aeries having stopped dead in her tracks suddenly, sending her trainer sprawling and skidding to a halt on the ground. Oh arc dammit- She tried to lift herself up to grab the Vaporeon, holding her close, submitting to the idea that the Totem wouldn’t kill a human. Aeries let her trainer take her into her arms, but she was… tense. Her gaze was glued to something behind Kittsu, and she didn’t miss Ember’s shocked expression a few feet in front of her. She tried to stand but she stumbled over her feet, only managing to get to her knees before she heard it, the thing that her Pokémon had noticed far earlier than herself. Then, there was the sound she could hear now. The scraping of something hard against the stone ground of the forbidden trial site, scraping that grew closer every passing second. She steeled herself for what she might see as she pivoted, still kneeling on the ground as she carefully put Aeries down, a hand still on her back in case she tried to run, or worse, attack. The ground vibrated beneath the trio, small pebbles bounced at each deafening step shook the very earth, setting every hair on end.
She didn’t know what she was meant to do, the colossal figure that had to be at least 30” tall glared at the trio, the scraping of the plate-scaled that adorned its massive body was deafening, the vibrations having caused her earbuds to fall out of her ears. It… was beautiful as it was terrifying. Its eyes were utterly shadowed by its grand crest, appearing as nothing but shadowed hollows, though she knew that its eyes must have held an undeniable intelligence. She caught herself staring before she shook her senses back into her, and kneeled down in a bow; an apology for trespassing as she waited for its reaction, praying that it would not be too angry at her and her Pokémon. Best case scenario, it would glare at them until they let the way they came. Worst case… she wouldn’t be going home; wouldn’t be able to say goodbye.
She didn’t quite expect it to lean down and sniff her… was this part of the trial? You can only pass if you smell nice? The thought amused her a bit, a grand Totem Pokémon that judges you based on whether you took a shower before the trial, that was pretty funny all things considered. How long was it going to—
—The sudden familiar sound of disproportionately loud scraping hit her ears, starting Kittsu out of her thoughts, her method of distracting herself until the danger passes seemed to have worked. She felt its presence raise high above her, for a second she thought maybe now it would attack, but instead, she felt the ground shudder as the Pokémon began stomping away, its scales scraping together as it went. She stayed there, crouched for a while after it had left, before she raised her head to look at her Pokémon. Ember was watching where it had apparently made its exit, wide eyed with her branch still aflame. Aeries stood there, turning to Kittsu as she noticed her trainer moving, and paused.
Kittsu slowly, shakily got to her feet, Ember helping her get up as support. Aeries watched before continuing on, now at a reasonable pace. What… was that? Kittsu didn’t think she had the brainpower to understand the Totem’s odd choice in who gets to pass, because of course it knew she was alive! It was easier to just… accept it for now, before continuing onwards. Ember’s stick bore a dim magenta flame, and she focused her energy to make it flare dramatically, lighting a great deal of the canyon like it had done before. The dragons that had seemed so threatening before were now out in the open, curiously watching as Kittsu followed the small Vaporeon, colossal Delphox trailing behind. There were Noivern, primarily, though she saw several Noibat, Jangmo-o, and even a couple Scizor that shared the territory. It was surreal. It only took a bit of walking for the exit to become visible, the sunlight pouring in through a triangular opening, silhouetting a small pedestal.
Kittsu was excited to finally leave. Once they investigate the Altar, they could go home! Maybe… maybe even asking Paula to teleport them back to Akala island would be worth it, she would just have to pray that the altar somehow had phone service. The pedestal that had stood there, blackened by the sun and the angle form which they viewed, gave off an important feeling when approached. It held a small, uncut and unpolished, yet gorgeous gemstone with some sort of pattern inside; it reminded Kittsu of the Mega Stones of her home region. Arceus, she couldn’t wait to get home. Either way it wasn’t meant for her, it was a reward for those recognized by the Totem. She wasn’t recognized just… dismissed. It really didn’t hurt nearly as much as people may believe. Kittsu hoped that the final path to the Altar of the Sunne would just be a straight path, long, but easy; she was less than thrilled at the sight of a couple-thousand step staircase that jutted through the clouds.
“Guys is the sun really worth it?”
Neither of her traveling partners were particularly impressed at their trainer’s half joke; Ember nodded solemnly, playing along. Aeries simply took the first few steps, looking back at the pair she’s already left behind, before blinding up the steps on her lonesome; a path straight to the clouds and above. It was daunting, to say the least, but it was far too late to turn back now.
-
Reaching the clouds, in the nicest terms possible, was as if being sent to the Distortion realm. Kittsu’s feet already hurt from the hike that had taken the entire day already, the sun nearly set in the sky. She was thirsty and she smelled bad and she desperately needed a shower and was overall miserable. She pretended to hope that entering the cloud would simply “cure her thirstiness” as she put it, but it was truly a fool’s wish. She… couldn’t see how far the staircase went, it being covered in clouds; it could be a 5 mile climb for all she knew, but she was already so close. It was jarring, being able to see, and eventually touch the cloud; odd formations of water that float above the land, forever out of reach. Well, they weren’t out of reach now, as the shroud that covered the staircase now rested just a few steps ahead. Kittsu shared a look with Ember as Aeries’ pace refused to slow; the human wanted to sit down and take a break, though the Delphox knew that it’ll just get worse if they thought about it.
There was no turning back now. Might as well get it over with.
-
Ember didn’t sound good. Kittsu had taken the Delphox’s paw, trying to keep an eye out for the missing stairs that had pockmarked the lower staircase they had left from. Maybe it was the moisture, maybe it was the altitude, but either way, Ember was panting, her pace dramatically slowed as she nearly toppled and tripped over the steps. Her breaths were shallow and quick, and she didn’t seem to hear Kittsu when she asked what was wrong. Arc, she had left her backpack by the dragon trial, so she didn’t have any of her healing items on her. Her phone didn’t work up there, either, so she couldn’t even begin to figure out what the problem may have been— She took the Luxury ball out of her pocket and retrieved Ember, seeing no other choice but to put her in stasis- at least for now. It was a temporary solution of course, Ember needed a Pokémon center, and Kittsu severely doubted that any sane person would build one on top of this hell Altar, much less work there. She needed to find Aeries, then they could leave. Find Ember help. Everyone would be okay. They have to be.
Kittsu cursed the fact she didn’t have a good pokeball holder like Sprite, that thing was fancy, and far easier to use than whatever she had going on. She tucked the ball into her pocket, suddenly on edge, and whispered an apology; a promise that they’d find help soon. She tried to look down, but the sight made her dizzy. She couldn’t see a foot in front of her, and she certainly didn’t want to fall down if simply looking that way nearly made her topple.
It seemed her only option was to go up once again. Find Aeries. Get help. Go home.
-
Kittsu was out of it by the time she had finally exited the wall of clouds. Everything felt off kilter, as if even thinking too hard could send her crashing down the stone steps. She guessed it was partly due to the altitude, or maybe her thirst that the cloud of course didn’t actually fix; she found her mind wandering as she climbed the seemingly infinite staircase. Thoughts about… Combee dancing in raves with Vespiquen. And whether Shinx could purr. And if a wild Eevee has ever done a backflip. Regular Kittsu thoughts but amplified by 5, she realized. She didn’t even register the fatigue she knew she had to be experiencing, it was as if her mind was as lost in the cloud as she was… not an unpleasant experience all things considered.
And was suddenly dragged out of her thoughts, the dizzying sensation leaving as she exited the cloud. Aeries stood there, waiting for her, laying down a couple steps ahead. Kittsu paused to look at her, shaking her head in an attempt to get her thoughts back on track. Aeries took to her feet as she spotted Kittsu, and continued climbing at a bit of a slower pace, matching her trainer’s footfalls.
She wanted to call to Aeries, to tell her they were going back down the stairs to a Pokémon Center, to say she’d had enough and they need to go home. She couldn’t find her voice, the thought of speaking felt as if it choked her. The only thing she could readily do was follow the Vaporeon.
The only thing she could do was ascend to the building she could now see above.
-
They were nearly halfway up the final stretch when Aeries had collapsed, having shown little signs of illness prior. Kittsu dropped to her knees, trying to ask voiceless questions of her condition, how she felt, but there could be no responses given to questions never asked. She was frustrated at the fact that she couldn’t think about what to do- it felt as if her thoughts of leaving now were drowned out by the sun itself. It was far too hot.
Kittsu pulled out Aeries’ pokeball and enlisted the same treatment as she had done to Ember, retrieve her; let her rest. Stasis will protect them until she- until she could leave. She held the Pokeball close to her chest, noticing how the paint scraped off by her nail like hot butter. Something was wrong, but she couldn’t focus on pinpointing what it was.
She looked above. The structure stood tall and proud, waiting for her to arrive.
The only thing she could do was climb.
-
Kittsu didn’t know what she expected at the end of this journey she’s taken.
She felt the trance she seemed to be in abruptly end as the moon began peeking over the now visible horizon, the overwhelming stench of iron and sound of booming, colorful explosions far below shocked her mind back into sense. What was she doing here—? Her Pokémon- they’re hurt and she did nothing- she needed to leave- She spun to face the staircase, now a clear shot back down- but the sight caused bile to rise in her throat from the moment she turned.
…Oh Arceus…
-
Kittsu didn’t know what she was expecting.
-
But she knew it wasn’t this.

Just a little ref sheet for Burr, a shiny variant Charmander that I play as in my PMD AU. I plan on doing a better ref sheet in the future so here are the basics.
---------------------------
In this variation, Charmanders start off with the fire-and-ground typing and Charmeleon keeps those two. The final evolution, Charizard, is where things get fun. Based on which stat is higher between ATK or SP. ATK, you either gain the ground-dragon typing or fire-dragon typing respectively. Fun. As a result, most Riakan Charmanders live in colonies based around what they wish to become when they evolve.
Riakan Charmanders can live in three places: active volcanoes, cave systems, or canyon cliffs and they have a tendency to eat anything they can swallow. They can also survive in sandy earth or muddy terrain as they often rest near quicksand pits. They've been ruled as "public hazards" and "illegal to own" due to their tendency to... eat people. They only hunt at night though so avoidance is pretty easy; keep in mind that Riakan Charmanders usually have black or dark brown scales and that Burr is a shiny.
Riakan Charmanders are almost always caked in mud, dirt, hardened magma, or clay. The darker "scales" along their faces and tails are just accumulated buildup that can easy be broken off, but they help when crawling through tight spaces, acting like whiskers of sorts. If treated carefully and properly fed, a trainer could successfully train a Riakan Charmander to sniff and dig out valuable treasures (and they eat the leftover slag for free, too!).
---------------------------------
For Burr specifically, she only joined the guild to get stronger; gaining money and social credibility was just a bonus. She's definitely a silent but strong teammate, always taking the lead in dungeons. Regarding her exploration team, it's widely known that she's the one in charge and as such, others tend to fear her over her partner, Elod.
There's a reason for that, too. Having the Flame Body Ability, Burr tends to burn and scorch things on accident. She uses it to her advantage as her battling style is quite cruel and humiliating, encasing opponents in hardened mud or subjugating them to permanent burns to "teach them a lesson".
She's fun.

Canyon Biome Bonfire: open post
The young trainer was happily running about, interacting with as many others as possible. She thrives in these kind of socialization events. She was definitely having a great time. Nothing but big smiles and friendly interactions from her!
Though, some people would be intimidated, mostly due to her pokémon she had out. Well, she shouldn't be surprised by that. Two of her teammates were Pokémon people barely even heard about. They were most likely just nervous since they didn't know the Pokémon. They've always been sweet Pokémon to her.
Mewtwo stuck close to the trainer. While he has gotten used to being around humans, this event was something he'd rather stick to being around those he's familiar with. Badbeard, on the other hand would roll onto his back any time they were up to someone new in hopes of getting bellyrubs.
Wisteria was now happily sitting down by the fire with her whole team. She was making s'mores. Or at least she was trying. She... was burning her marshmallow. But she didn't seem to mind much.
"... Here you go, Frye! Just the way you like it!" She offers the burnt marshmallow to the Talonflame. She chirped, and happily munched on the treat. The young trainer puts another marshmallow on the stick.
Okay... She can do it this time. She definitely won't burn this one!

And here they were thinking the Synchro Machine thing would be the weirdest thing to ever happen to them.
And could you blame them? Even in the Pokemon world, people didn't mind-link with their starter pokemon every day, much less break the device doing it and accidentally pull the pokemons mind into their trainer's leaving the 'mon a vegetable.
….Ahem-
Still, Jake and Reikka made the most of it. Now they could work with the rest of their team evermore closely! Nevermind the occasional urge to dribble something or say "Ace!" more often. Really, they could go on, but anyway back to what led them to being in separate* bodies again.
They may have poked around some old ruins and found a weird painting and next thing they knew they were falling from the sky in a Zorua's body, landing square on who they'd come to know as a sworn partner.
Many, MANY things happened between the system realizing they could shapeshift and them fighting an alien pokemon that could fuck with the DNA of other pokemon, but they have neither the time or energy to recall all that.
Mmmmostly because they're currently melting.
"G…hhhhhgph…" Long story short, DNA unstable enough to shapeshift is especially susceptible to being messed with. Beforehand, they had a sort of system in order. Jake would go adventuring and fighting as long as he could, until the stress got to him and they deferred to the more experienced Pokemon in their head.
Now they were both having trouble just staying solid and sane. They didn't know what was real anymore. Words and pictures and minds swam through their head, dissolving and shifting and changing and warping and HURTING. Oh so much HURTING.
Bits of memories swirled and screamed and shouted, all begging for attention and getting louder when they tried to focus on just one.
And yet…one word. One thing stood out in the fog. '..wi….wwwwwis….' A ccc crystal. Crystal…p prison? That… "hhhggkk…."

They touched it. And all at once they were broken
And fixed.
"Who are you?" Spoke their mind.
"What do you desire?" Came the reply.
The words came instantly.
"I…want strength. Strength to…protect. To SAVE. To HELP."
".......Granted."
They burned. They froze. Were poisoned, paralyzed, frostbitten, put to sleep and had their very mind consumed. They broke apart down to the atom and pulled themselves back together through sheer DEVOTION. And nothing could compare to the feeling of a shattering mind being shoved through itself back into its proper place.
It didn't make sense.
It didn't have to.
In the far distance, Cameron finally couldn't keep up, collapsing to a knee before the invader, powerless to stop it from getting its wish from the Millennium Star. It stood over him and laughed, binding his throat and lifting him up to stare into his defeated eyes before it ended him. And then, the sun fell, crushing the monster and dragging it across the planet, carving a canyon through the world.
It broke free, but that didn't matter. "We're far from any life here. You made sure of that yourself." All it could muster in the face of karmatic light was a roar. "Your existence. ends. NOW."
Flames, frigid and searing, erupted around them…And from there they were on FULL autopilot. All they can tell you from there is they killed it and woke up in Cameron's home.
"Ugh…"
The bed wasn't as comfortable as it used to be, considering their…HER ankles draped over the footboard now. "Honeys?? Or…honey?" Rei's head snapped up, and there he was. "CAMMY!!" She was quick to lunge and start snuggling(much to the cat's shock). The sudden movement jostled Jake out of the cockles of their brain. 'Huhwaiwah-?!'
Rei mentally imposed Jake in the snuggle. 'Morning, buddy~!'
'We're…We're alive?!'
She was gonna snark, but a pained moan beneath her instantly raised an alarm. "Oh no, wait, I'm so sorry, Ca-
…?!"
Oh she was NOT still an oversized Raboot. At least she kept her sweater, but…woah. "...Holy Solgaleo..!" Feeling had returned to them, and not having bones was weird. But forget the bones, her bloomin' skin was felt and fabric!
And it was…honestly nice??? She was wonderfully warm and dry, and…heavy. 'Don't check if you have boobs don't check if you have boobs don't check if you ha' Her hands moved before their brain could stop them. 'Nopenopenope, not yet-' Jake thankfully jerked them to a stop. 'not while Cam is here.'
"Um. You gonna get off of me, ReiRei?"
"Oh, shit, sorry-" She scrambled to scoot off of him. "So…What happened?" "Wait, you don't remember?" She shook her head, simultaneously becoming aware of her massive ears and hair swishing behind her. "Ooh, that's cool…But, no. Why, did anything cool happen?"
"Are you JOKING?! You pulled the sun out of the sky!" Oh hell yeah. "Uh…Woah."
'...Can that wait? Head's starting to hurt again…xC' "Right, that can wait. Cuz, um." Both pairs of eyes drifted downwards, and cheeks flushed. "Yeah-"
Awkward silence swiftly followed.
"...Can I see how Jake's doing?"
"Yeah, sure-!!" Said Rei, a tad too enthusiastically. 'You ready?' She offered the metaphysical wheel. '...a-as I'll ever be.' They were already going through the motions of shifting forms to suit them. Except…they…weren't changing?
"...Uh?"
"Hello?"
"Are we changing at all?"
Did the wish have a bad side effect…?!
"You're…glowing, kind of."
"I…feel like we should be shifting, but we're not."
An idea occurred to Cameron. "Give me your paw." "What?" "I'm going to pull." "WHAT?!" "Please, just trust me on this-"
Cocking a brow, they complied as he stood up.
"Three…Two…Now!" He pulled, and nothing happened as far as any of them could tell. "...?" "Can you…try to shift again?" They complied for a moment, but the shock of another paw emerging from Rei's made them stop. "Keep going!" Cameron called, not letting go of the new paw. With a little trepidation, they continued.
"...Holy shit you're bi-generating."
"Bi-WHAT now?" Spoke two voices, and the heads they belonged to snapped to look at each other and scream. "WHAT THE FUCK?!" "Bi-generation. It's…a Doctor Who thing!" Cameron grunted, seeing as the resistance increased. "Well, kind of-
It's just the glow reminded me of it, I didn't expect it to work so-" Out popped a humanoid shape with a Zorua face, "wELL-?!" and tumbled to the floor.
"Ow…" It wasn't a perfect separation like in the show, there was still a strand of goop stretching from Jake's tail to Rei's arm, and…wait, no, her…elbow? Shoulder?? "...So it can move? Fascinating…" She murmured, brushing along her arm while the boys regained their bearings again.
'...Oh goodness I'm pinning him down-'
"Oh, I can still hear your thoughts!" Thankful for that derailment, Jake turned to his former headmate and was…honestly, stunned.
"...What's that look for?"
'You look like mom.'
"Like…" His mom was the one she idolized most. The one who made things so simple whenever they met. The one who welcomed Rei with open arms when she got stuck in Jake's head. The one who made them feel safe. The one who stayed strong no matter what. "...Mum."
She rose from her kneeling position. Anyone else would be intimidated, but Jake was…comforted. A warmth permeated the room as she lumbered forward and crouched down. "...I guess I really am your guardian angel now, huh?" She spread her arms.
They lunged into them, eyes wet.

MY POKEMON BRAINCELLS HAVE BEEN REACTIVATED!!!!!! i kinda wanna open trainersona + pokemon team comms but i still gotta finish my current queue shjkdfg n i would be posting this on my art acc but i made the draft in my main so :((
also watch me ramble about my dream team under the cut
alRIGHT YOU CLICKED THE READ MORE AND YOU’RE IN FOR A WORLD OF WORDS BABEY!!! let’s start w my trainer sona yeah? :]
enterr Sploo from Petalburg city! :D he/they. our trainer starts out in petalburg city of hoenn where his pokemon adventure begins! since the professor’s lab is just a few town away it doesn’t take much for them to get his hands on his starter pokemon treecko! the babey boy ;; he catches lotsa pokemon to fill out the dex, sometimes keeping them on his team, and other times letting them go. he doesn’t like having the pokemon all crammed in the pc boxes :( some pokemon stay for a few battles and others maybe a few days, but things change after defeating his first gym. he meets an electrike at route 110 under the seaside cycling road, she’s just a lil puppyyy a lil babeeeyyy ;;;; super fun playful lil guys sticks around the team! -w- after his fourth gym badge his parents give him a gift pokemon for making it halfway through the gym challenge! a klefki! :3 a tame n helpful lil guys who just enjoys holding keys -w- sploo then continues on to complete two more gyms before his family moves to alola.
now on the boat to alola with grovyle, manectric and klefki sploo kinda just stays by the side of the boat watching the waves go by -w- also trying not to get too seasick shjkdfgl a lone shiny fletchling perches by them and he tries real hard to keep the excitement in and offers the fletchling some sunflower seeds! and asks if the fletchling would like the join their team! i mean who wouldn’t wanna pass up the opportunity of having a shiny pokemon on their team? after docking at akala island sploo travels around and catches some more pokemon to register to the dex, releasing them after as usual. then upon exploring diglett’s tunnel he finds a cover fossil! after cleaning up the rocks and dirt off the fossil spectrobes origins wii style he brings it to the fossil restoration center just along the route and meets the fifth member of his team :] and finally the sixth member of the team! a jangmo-o found in poni canyon, sploo came across the jangmo-o with its head scale stuck in the branches of a fallen tree. he freed the jangmo-o and excpected it to run back to its herd but it kept challenging them for a battle. after a long fight the jangmo-o is worn out, and sploo helps it back up on its feet with some potions and a plate of oran berries. sploo sets up a little picnic in the canyon! :3 helping nurse the jangmo-o back to health -w- the lil dragon sneaks into sploo’s bag and brings out a pokeball in its maw, determination in its eyes. and that’s how the team get together! :D but if u think i am done u are soo wrong sjhkjdfgd now i’m gonna go more in depth with each team member >:]
let’s start with mister! the sceptile -w- he is a grass/dragon type even without the mega evolution bc we were robbed and it’s not fair that swampert and blaziken get double typings while sceptile stays just grass >:[ chill and laid back, my baby boy ;; starter pokemon! he has a sceptilite in the friendship bracelet sploo made for him! :3 when walking through forests and jungles and very tree dense areas he’s always out of his pokeball darting around through the trees while sploo walks through -w- sometimes sploo stops for a lil break so sceptile can take care of sick trees in the forets! when having picnics out in the wild he can be found sitting and photosynthesizing when not playing around the trees. and since sceptiles are cold blooded mister stays in his pokeball when travelling through colder icy areas and he also enjoys having flynt resting atop his head or nesting in his tail leaves -w-
next up is storm! the manectric! a playful steadfast and loyal companion -w- she likes being out of her pokeball a lot and walks with sploo through towns n stuff. she has the manectite embeded in her collar :3 and also sploo charges his phone, pokedex and pokenav+ by just stuffing the charger cable in her mane jshkdfg sploo keeps a pair of sturdy rubber gloves in his bag bc of her :P
steele! the klefki. a very mild mannered pokemon -w- the one who’s always out of its pokeball! other than holding sploo’s house keys it also holds his multitools! since they’re also made of metal and has more mass than keys it has more metal ions for klefki to feed on -w- sometimes sploo will punch holes in bottlecaps of drinks so steele can have more metal to feed on and to enhance its threatening jingle :] steele enjoys playing around with flynt a lot! flynt n steele ;-; they fly around a lot but don’t stray too far from sploo -w- steele does not participate in battles unless it’s to use fairy lock on a wild pokemon that sploo wants to catch
then there’s flynt! :D my shiny!!! >< flynt perches on sploo’s shoulder when travelling through frigid area to keep him warm ;-; also flynt uses fly to deliver handwritten letters to sploo’s friends! :D it lets flynt fly free and enjoy the wind when the pokeball starts feeling cramped -w- flynt finds an everstone as a fletchinder and starts sitting on it like an egg and gets really attached (like that eagle that’s sitting on a rock jshkdfg) so she just holds the everstone now :P
koopa! the tirtouga -w- a bit hard headed, koopa needs a while to warm up to new trainers. he was a bit hard headed to train but after a while things went more smoothly :] koopa loooves the beachside! :D he knows dive and surff and helps sploo travel through water terrain! it’s a lot like how koopa shells worked in super mario galaxy where you hold on to a shell and it propels you through the water :3 stays in his pokeball most of the time unless it’s by the beachside or lake or any body of water
and last but not least rookie! the jangmo-o, a trusty and honorable battler! >:D much like ash's riolu from pokemon journeys! it takes a bit for the rookie to get used to the feeling of the chip in his head scale. but sooner or later rookie gets the hang of it -w- rookie loves getting to battle, but since sploo is a casual trainer and more focused on completing the dex and dragon types need more battling than usual to evolve dragon types rookie just stays as a jangmo-o :c not that he minds but yeagh
mister, storm, and rookie are the ones usually out for battles, flynt and koopa sometimes come out for battle too either when they get the urge or when they’re needed for certain type matchups! okay thank you for reading about my silly little guys they mean a lot to me and means a lot that you’d wanna read about them ;-;

[ @pkmn-trainer-vivian asked: ] Hi, Amarys! Uh, I don't know if this is out of nowhere in your schedule so you can answer when you get the chance.
I uh, I need help with taking care of a Scizor. (I know to keep it out of hot climates already, luckily I spend most of my time in the Polar Biome). I've never had one before, but it was hurt and I decided to take it in! Is there anything I should know about, like nutrition, physical activity, or their wellbeing in general?
Also, it's very untrusting, which is understandable, but it seems to get along with Apollo (My Decidueye) the best.
Greetings, Vivian. To start, congratulations on your new teammate. Scizor are wonderful companions, and with the right training and attention can be fearsome on the battlefield.
XP was also a rescue, so I am quite familiar with the process of healing and rehabilitating a Scizor. That said, every pokemon is different, so if your Scizor begins to exhibit a behavior which you do not understand do not hesitate to reach out to your local vet or professor. I will put the remainder of this post under a readmore, as it became quite long.
When in the early stages of bonding with a new Scizor the most important factor to keep in mind is to watch for their warning signs. As mentioned by the pokedex, they use the eye markings on their claws to confuse predators, and will wave these claws around when they feel threatened. How they wave these claws can tell you a lot about how threatened or stressed your Scizor is. One claw held low with the eye marking facing outward is mild stress or displeasure - XP often does this when Rollo is being a bother. If both claws are raised, eye markings facing outwards, snapping loudly and alternating to block your view of Scizor's face that is a sure sign that this Scizor is very stressed and highly likely to attack if the stressor is not removed. Respect the boundaries your Scizor sets and they will slowly begin to trust you.
Once your Scizor trusts you enough to allow you to touch them, grooming is going to be your best method of bonding. In the wild they rely on frequent baths in streams and rivers, as they cannot groom themselves particularly well otherwise. Being able to polish and pamper your Scizor is a delightful experience for them.
As for basic care, I can see you've clearly already done some research. You have likely already come across this rule, but just in case you have not: if your scizor beats their wings for 2 minutes straight, without pause or pulsing, it is a sure sign they are about to overheat. I am pleased to see you are being cautious about this, but I assure you it is not necessary to train only in the Polar Biome in order to avoid this. XP does quite well in the Canyon Biome, and as long as you are sure to give them plenty of breaks during training they will be fine.
Diet I assume you have already researched, so the only extra advice I have is to edit the amount of steel type supplement based on how much meat your Scizor prefers to eat. They have each of them specific preferences, and a Scizor that eats more berries than meat will require a larger dose of supplements to keep their shell healthy and strong.
Lastly, for polish, I would recommend something gentler than most. Compared to other steel types, Scizor's shell is quite thin and designed for speed and agility over defense. They tend to be a bit more sensitive because of this and will not enjoy a thicker grit. Again, each individual has their own preferences, but Scizor as a whole do not typically enjoy a harsh scrub the way a Metagross might.
If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out further. Gaining the trust of a traumatized pokemon can be a long and heartbreaking process, but the bond you can forge if you have patience, compassion, and the correct knowledge makes it worth the effort a thousand times over.

@arcanaanima liked for a pinned starter:
It was just one of those days, huh? It started when Hala received a letter addressed to Tapu Koko. At first, the diety thought it was from the elementary school. All the elementary school kids would often write letters to the Tapus to help them practice how to write. Often, the Tapus would send letters back, though most parents believed it was just the Kahuna who were writing back.
Anyway, on closer inspection, this wasn't a letter sent by a kid. Was this calligraphy? Well, either that or someone had really pretty handwriting. But what really caught the diety's eye was the crest. This was the crest of the swords of justice. Quickly, the diety tore open the letter, but all it said was, "Please meet me at Vast Poni Canyon at these coordinates," and below it were the coordinates of where to meet. Looks like one of the swords had something private they wanted to talk about.
And that's how Koko ended up here. Must have been something they did not want to get out if they dragged Koko all the way here. It made sense though. Not many people came out here, only strong trainers looking to get stronger, and with how open the area was, they wouldn't be at much risk of getting snuck up on.
Tumblr media
Speaking of getting snuck up on, Koko heard footsteps approaching him. He turned to the sources of the noise assuming that this was the person he was supposed to meet.
"So, are you the one who sent me the letter?"

Medea Played Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, The DLC's (Part II)
Tumblr media
Okay, let's check out Blueberry Academy.
Tumblr media
If you'll indulge me for a second...
BLUE HIS HOUSE
WITH A BLUE LITTLE WINDOW
AND A BLUE CORVETTE
AND EVERYTHING IS BLUE FOR HIM
I apologize for nothing. Moving away from the random musical interlude. This academy is a floating terarium in the Unova region.
Tumblr media
And here's our first nod to the Black & White games. The girl with the pink hair is Lacey.
Tumblr media
She came from this guy's penis.
Oh, there are more surprises this DLC has.
Tumblr media
This rich-ass school has four places in this dome, the canyon, the coast, the savanna, and the polar. Many, many, many pokemon not in the original game are there. Yes, all the starters. There is however, a hefty price tag for that.
Tumblr media
Aside from the vending machines at the rest areas, you are to pay with BP's (Blueberry Points). And you get that by doing Blueberry Picnics (BBQs). Unfortunately, the tasks are only worth like 100 or something cheap like that. And if you want ALL the starters, you have to have a grand total of 12,000 points. And so much more points if you want to decorate your club room, put music in it, print items, challenge the elite four, buy special items at the school cafeteria, get new features for selfies, learn new throwing styles, invite coaches like Larry, and catch legendaries.
Phew, that is a lot. My recommendation, host and/or join BBQs. If you're like me and are prone to playing solo, there are some Discord groups that offer a lot of opportunities. The group quests are something you'll need to get more legendaries. Moving on.
You will eventually meet up with Carmine. Her brother however...
Tumblr media
Kieran becomes an angsty teenager who should just go back to his dorm room, put on some My Chemical Romance, and cry into his knock-off Ogerpon teal mask.
More importantly, Kieran is the champ of the school. Higher than the elite four. You know where this is going. You have to challenge the elite four and then Kieran.
Tumblr media
That's when you're introduced to Drayton. And it better be obvious to you by looking at this kid. He's a slacker. He was the ex-champ. He's definitely a dragon-type trainer. But more importantly, he is the grandson to Unova gym leader Drayden.
Tumblr media
And as you can tell, Carmine hates this guy's guts. Drayton will sucker you into challenging the elite four. There is pushback as you are merely an exchange student. But you do get the support of two members and Kieran just wants to defeat you. Yeah, we'll see how that turns out for you.
Okay, let's take on the E4. Please note that every single battle you do here are double battles. And give this game some credit, these are not easy battles. Not even the random trainers are.
Tumblr media
Let's battle Amarys first. Just like the gyms in Paldea, you have to do certain tasks first before the battle. Amarys has you and Koraidon jump through hoops. Kinda like a Mario Party game.
I have my own theories about this girl as I think she's the product of Lenora and her white husband Hawes. But apparently, she's from Castelia City and Lenora is from a different town. So, that theory ends with me. Also, she's a steel-type trainer.
Tumblr media
Next, let's battle Crispin.
He's a fire-type trainer. His first task is to make him a spicy sandwich. I have no theories of where this kid came from. The second I saw Crispin and his cooking attire and his pan...
Tumblr media
And all I can think of is Kuga from Food Wars. They're both spicy boys who cook. And they're both in an elite group where they both are on the verge of getting kicked out.
Tumblr media
Drayton's trial can be tricky if you're walking into this blindfolded. You have to face three trainers only using pokemon you caught in the Terarium. Raids in the terarium do not count. Traded pokemon technically caught in the terarium do not count. Once done, you can battle the dragon boy.
And as for Lacey...
Tumblr media
Urp.
I'm resisting the urge to not bring up learning about Venonat's radar eyes from Tracey Sketchit in the second season. Oh wait, I still said it. You should know me by now.
Lacey's trial is a quiz with 5 questions. It's actually the easiest trial. As long as you know where she sleeps on Granbull and which is the true Sinistea.
Tumblr media
Kid, I'm about ready to put you through a wall. Sigh. Let me just waste this wannabe punk.
You are going to battle Kieran. Much of the school and the E4 come out to watch you. And if you want to watch this boy suffer, put Ogerpon in your team.
Tumblr media
So you defeat him.
Tumblr media
Kieran pretty much has a mental breakdown and is beyond repair at this moment.
Tumblr media
SELFIE TIME!!!
As much as I'd love to relish in this kid's agony, we have to move the story along. Because immediately after, Ms. Briar asks for you, Kieran, Carmine, and Drayton for help.
Tumblr media
So all of us (minus Drayton because he's a lazy-fuck) are going to Area Zero. Briar was finally able to get permission from Geeta and Rika (who are there now). It's been a while since I saw Rika.
Tumblr media
GAH! What did I do?!
Oh. I forgot about The Way Home arc already. When it's been a full year since playing, you tend to forget why you're being yelled at.
Geeta gives you the Indigo Disk (hence the name of this DLC). Has no idea what it is or why it is. But thinks you might have some use for it.
Tumblr media
The Indigo Disk actually sends you to a lower level of Area Zero since it seems Professor Crazy Bitch's lab is locked down due to inactivity.
Tumblr media
In the depths of Area Zero, you'll come across these special tera pokemon. They are stella-tera. And in the depthiest of depths, we will come across Terapagos.
Tumblr media
Kieran decides he's going to use this opportunity to surpass you.
Tumblr media
LADY, CONTROL YOUR STUDENT!
What am I, a judge in a Donald Trump trial?
More swipes at Trump. I thought I told you that we won't stop! I thought I told you that we won't stop!
Terapagos eventually emerges. But then...
Tumblr media
This little shit catches it with a Master Ball. I'm impressed.
Kieran battles you with Terapagos. It fails. Then, Briar tells him to terastylize Terapagos.
Tumblr media
Think of this as a Tera-raid from Hell. It puts up three barriers. Constantly takes away your ability to terastylize. And every now and then, it changes what type it is. All the while, Briar is having her wet-dream of seeing Terapagos in full form and Kieran is...
Tumblr media
Yeah, this whole thing is a cluster-fuck. Time for you to end this nightmare and catch this fucker.
But wait, didn't Kieran catch it with a master ba...?
Tumblr media
We good now? Okay. Let's take this behemoth down.
After finishing off Terapagos, you can then catch it, and 100% rate for this one. It better be after all the shit you go through.
Tumblr media
Lady, Ms. Frizzle has more control than you do.
Well, that's the end of the main story to Indigo Disc. The pokemon is caught, the day is saved, we think Kieran is going back to normal, and the end credits play with a remix to Ed Sheeran's Celestial.
Tumblr media
Okay, I think this is a perfect place to end my shit-post.
To be continued.

Tumblr media
---------------- 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 & 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞.
as stated previously, grusha moved to paldea about four years before the events of the game. his first three months were spent in a nonpermanent housing situation while he completed the prerequisite examination material to be considered for a gym leader (written test, interview, battle tournament). however, upon selecting glaseado as the location he wanted, grusha received a turn of fortune: instead of being relegated to living in the upper levels of what was to be "his" gym, there was an old cabin approximately two miles (three-ish kilometers) east of the gym.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
according to the individuals he spoke to throughout his process of agreeing to purchase the home & those within the league's administration who had been around for some time, the house had been built some decades prior by a socialite who turned to a life of seclusion after an unspecified incident which brought them significant grief & turmoil. although it had gone without occupants for almost half of its existence, the granddaughter of the socialite had taken it upon herself to refurbish it... all while keeping it as faithful to her forebearer's original design.
the cabin itself is composed of granite bricks (certainly an odd choice for exterior barring erosion resistance, but not grusha's place to question the former owner's decisions) & walnut floors (replaced with cuts anew by the granddaughter and sealed) within. the countertops are granite (cut and polished, contrary to the exterior) & appliances are stainless steel - stove/oven, dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer.
there's a fireplace on the main floor (as the upper level largely just consists of grusha's bedroom/bathroom/closet) which serves as the primary central heating for the entire house. the smoke travels out utilizing a chimney visible from the outside of the building.
grusha was not without making his own changes/required modifications: for his own ease, he had the spiral staircase taken out & an elevator/wheelchair lift put in with, conveniently, very little difference in the space requirement on account of the former staircase being elaborate.
in regards to physical location, grusha's home sits upon a small ledge (the incline small enough that grusha is able to traverse it without much difficulty) overlooking the eastern side of the mountain...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the lights of levincia are visible on a clear night, and during the daytime the valley & canyon bordering glaseado's range.
Tumblr media
in contrast, the pokemon center indicator (upper right) is bright enough that even on a night of poor weather, grusha is able to see it if he walks a short distance in front of his home. the gym's lights themselves aren't far behind. since grusha is unique in requiring challengers to defeat at least two of his gym trainers, that also makes him unique in having gym trainers - period. in light of this, grusha allows the trainers to live in the upper levels of the gym itself. the gym's lights are typically on from 8AM to 10PM.
additionally, grusha's ledge is along the path people take (or most people, anyway, unless they have sufficient means of scaling the road less traveled/mountainside).
Tumblr media
the large stone with a hooked formation at its peak (just up-left of center) is right in front of the ledge upon which grusha's house sits, and it is visible from the glaseado watchtower.
& 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐭𝐢𝐝𝐛𝐢𝐭𝐬!
grusha is actually a great cook! seeing that souped up (no... food pun intended??) stove actually made him fairly excited to live here.
his favorite food to eat is coincidentally one of his favorites to make. pidove pot pie is the way to go. it's warm, flavorful, balanced, and stick-to-your-ribs.
you can thank grusha's larvesta for the warmth you feel upon entering his home. the two of them are content to cuddle in the fireplace and constantly emit heat -- admittedly they're kind of lazy, but at least they don't wander while spurting flames. if they think grusha's taken too long to give them their next meal, though, they'll stop emitting heat to make a point.
that said, you'll probably never go into grusha's house. as there are indicators of the extent of their injury everywhere -- forearm crutches (two pair), a wheelchair, the wheelchair lift, a furniture layout with enough room to accommodate a wheelchair's width, etc. although it is public knowledge that they were injured critically enough to end their career in snowboarding & they have no issue mentioning as much, the exact details of what they suffered is probably the best-kept secret any celebrity can manage. they are exceptionally private about the fact most of their leg had to be amputated. grusha can count on one hand the number of times they have let someone in their house.
each day grusha walks to the gym, their flareon & glaceon accompany them. the duo works together to clear the footpath (flareon) by melting snow/ice, and re-freezing (glaceon) the mounds of snow on the side between the path & the ascent of the mountain, thus helping to prevent snow from shifting/falling from elsewhere on the mountain onto where people may need to walk. the flareon & glaceon sometimes wait at the gym with grusha & train play with the gym pokemon, other days they will return to the house.
grusha's house does not have internet! or cable, actually. he peeks whatever news he feels inclined to skim utilizing the 4g on his phone and that's about the extent of his technology. it is important to note that while grusha doesn't own hardly any technology, he is definitely not clueless about it -- he's pretty up to date. as far as passing time goes, he prefers reading, puzzles, grooming & cooking for his pokemon, and genealogy research. he actually only recently learned that his second cousin is a member of unova's elite four and... is contemplating reaching out.

So I like taking pictures of my gunpla!
Kind of why I made myself a sideblog for it, to slowly get some snazzy shots of the nigh-unstoppable tide of my collection. I know nothing about photography, beyond "some pictures look nice, others catch me at the exact moment I'm about to sneeze."
(And this was spurred on when I realized I could use my monitor as a fun backdrop!)
But what's kind of fun is seeing different people's intepretations of how to do that. Like, I've seen people take kits that I own and get some amazing shots that I never would have thought of - hell, in poses I didn't even think the kits could do.
But even on a smaller level, it's fascinating to see how the same subject matter can come out vastly differently. Take the shots above of my Demi Trainer for instance.
I'm pretty happy with them!
I think the background (thanks google image search) is fairly pretty, and fits well with the kit, and I think I've fiddled with the settings enough that it's come out as giving some nice warm tones. Gives some desert-y, canyon-y vibes.
And then my wife took some pictures too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, we used different phones, so had slightly different tools for editing - I had a magic eraser to play around with and could hide the stand for instance - but other than that, same kit, same backdrop, same pose.
And they're totally different!
Where I ended up going for warm tones, trying to give a sense of heat, hers have focused more on blue tones and despite the brightness, make the whole vibe feel a lot colder. I've focused more on close up shots of the mobile suit itself, whereas hers bring the background into play a lot more. Both sets of photos were taken within minutes of each other, yet they feel like they're taking place in totally different seasons.
Maybe I'm overanalysing what was meant to be a fun five minutes with the gunpla closest to hand, but it's definitely given me a lot more enthusiasm to take some more shots with different kits and backgrounds, and - hopefully - do it again with my wife.
TLDR; gunpla photography is fun and I love my wife.
