so i had Some Thoughts like... a month or go at this point, i think, it's just taken time to work on Other Things and also sit down to do this

but i think it'd be fun if there was like. a pirate special costume event. specifically with day one characters that haven't gotten any additional sync partners yet because they deserve it.

obviously roark was going to be here because i am Predictable, so... pirate roark and his partner archeops! everyone thinks he's partnered with chatot since that's the perfect companion for a pirate, but Tot is more of a pet than a battle buddy (i can and will elaborate if asked). Puppy on the other hand is very much a dino who likes to battle when given the chance.

i have no idea what his EX colors would be considering he's already running with a shiny and chatot's colors also really aren't all that different. maybe moving closer to the actual shiny coloration??? i just didn't want them to blend together too much in the dino hug :/

Yknow if Iris is the champion of Unova, then who is going to take over the Opelucid gym for Drayden? Like Iris is pretty young so its not even like shes going to retire. She may lose her position but I doubt Drayden is, like, rooting for that.

I'd really enjoy reading or even writing an unlikely meet up story where another character from the pokemon franchise becomes Draydens new protege for the position of Opelucid City gym leader. It could be a fun call back to a previous character in the same universe coming to Unova.

I'd considered Zinnia from the ORAS games for the position or Ryuki from the alola games, but I'm not sure.

I'm curious what the rest of the fandom thinks about this idea what character you guys could see in the position.

Ok I'm sorry for so many but would it be possible to get traveling headcanons for nessa, guzma, and ryuki?

no need to apologize lmao, I run this blog exactly bc I wanna write for people!!

Nessa:

Your first impression of Nessa had been wrong. You’d heard she was a model, and then you’d seen some of her photoshoots and commercials, so you had assumed she was prissy and not up for a rough-and-tumble adventure. Then you had mentioned you were traveling to Circhester next, and she’d asked if she could come with you; you had only agreed because you wondered how a model would handle the Wild Area.

She handled it far better than you could. Nessa’s long legs carried her through the tall grass as if she was floating; you, on the other hand, were constantly being tripped up by grass knots, weighed down by the bags on your back. Nessa would turn back to check on you and you’d just smile, assuring her you were fine— she was so confident in herself, you felt bad for ever doubting her.

One of Nessa’s more obscure talents is how easily she reads the weather. You had been relying on your Rotom phone and its little news pop-ups; Nessa, though, was able to just glance toward the sky and tell you it would be raining tomorrow, or the wind was about to pick up so you’d better be careful with your tent. She’s not really the type to talk much about herself, but she does mention that it’s a skill from living near the water— maybe she could teach you sometime too.

Guzma:

Guzma was difficult to travel with, and you’d expected as much. Constantly charging into battles despite being exhausted, wanting to argue with every suggestion you made— but he’d promised to escort you from Po Town back to Malie Garden, and he had every intention of keeping that promise. Even though you were butting heads every few minutes about which path through Route 17 would be the quickest.

Impulsive as always, Guzma was ill-prepared for his escort mission; you’d been traveling long enough, your bag full of food and supplies. Guzma simply had whatever was in his pockets. He walked several steps ahead of you, his Golisopod ahead of you both and easily cutting a path through the thick foilage. You would glance up at your not-quite-valiant escort only to find him watching you from the corner of his eye— when your gaze met his, Guzma’s face would flush bright red and he’d turn around with a scowl, only to peek back at you again. After so many echoes of “You sure you ain’t hungry?” or “I bet you ain’t used to walkin’ like this,” you finally took the hint. Time to set up camp.

Although he tried to act tough, Guzma’s facade would slip just enough for you to file new information away in your mind. Usually he wasn’t much for cooking; the moment your campfire was blazing, though, he was setting up the metal dishes you’d pulled out, tearing berries apart with his hands, tossing some of them into the pot and others to the pokemon. He’d let his Surskit bury itself in his hair as he worked, his movements sloppy but confident— but when he realized you were watching, he would inevitably fumble. If you were lucky enough— if he was nervous enough— he might talk too much and tell you about himself.

Ryuki:

Honestly, what else were you expecting from a trip with an entertainer? The biggest surprise was the fact that he’d chosen you. Ryuki had suddenly declared his intention to journey until inspiration struck him, and he’d be needing an assistant to carry his things and buy his dinner— and, (un)fortunately, you’d been the first person he laid eyes on.

And that’s how you ended up in the midst of Lush Jungle for the first time since your island trials. You weren’t quite struggling under the weight of Ryuki’s luggage; his bags were more clunky than anything, obscuring your vision and making you glad his gaudy outfit was so easy to spot amidst the sea of green. When you’d first met the rock star, you figured he was shallow, but he paid well; it was times like this, though, that you occasionally realized there was something else underneath. When you stumbled and dropped one of his cases, Ryuki was quick to reach out, helping you steady yourself before he cared about his luggage in the mud.

He was a night person, you learned that too. Even as the sun faded out and left you plunging blindly through the darkness, he showed no signs of exhaustion— if anything, he seemed thrilled to bring out his Turtonator and keep trudging along in its emberlight. But Ryuki was also observant; he noticed you slowing down behind him. He was the one to stop first, kicking aside debris on the ground until you had room to spread your sleeping bag, and he was the one to scrounge up dinner as you rested, yet again relying on Turtonator’s flames to roast it to perfection. When it was just the two of you, Ryuki wasn’t putting on an act.
