Is this about how when that one person did trans Artemis Fowl fanart a few years ago, the fandom realised that literally nothing in any of the books contradicted that reading? And that a few lines could technically be read to support it (although one would know that was unintentional)? Like no contradictions whatsoever.
I've no idea on that tbh. I wasn't in the fandom from 2013-2021. I was in the OG fandom back in 2003-2012, but queerness wasn't even a topic back then.
Im actually referencing all the posts and interpretations I've seen throughout all of 2022. @tarchey came out with some amazing trans Artemis art and a great lil fic, and theres been tons of essays (primarily by @orangerosebush though there are others I can't remember atm) who also do a study with a queer lens on the books. So I'm moreso referencing them.

I get the criticism of the Hunters of Artemis from a narrative perspective—it sucks that it essentially boots interesting female characters out of the story—but it always baffles me when people viciously hate Artemis for *checks notes* doing damage control.
Like. Thalia explicitly goes with Artemis to avoid the prophecy, and I definitely think that’s the reason Artemis tried so hard to get her to join—hell, you can view the hunters trying to recruit Annabeth as a way to get Thalia to join. And Bianca? You can’t convince me that Artemis didn’t guess there was something up there and react accordingly.
If Percy or Nico were even a little bit girl-adjacent you bet your ass she would be all over them to join. No one actually wants to risk the Great Prophecy happening, and Artemis is doing a hell of a lot more to stop it than anyone else.

Artemis Fowl contains multitudes. Yes he is trans. He’s also cis. He is gay. He’s straight. He is asexual. Also bi. Actually, he’s aromantic. He’s whatever gender/sexuality will win him the argument. His parents are also queer. They’re also cishet. He came out seven times before he was seven years old, and he also didn’t know gay people were a thing until he was twelve. As soon as he caught wind of the (fairy or human) public speculating his gender/sexuality he decided he was going to make it the most difficult thing for any of them to figure out because it’s none of their business and he’s got to find something fun to do now that crime is (mostly) off limits.

Post-AF canon but before TFT, a well-meaning journalist puts out a piece about prominent figures in tech/tech business who are also transgender. Sadly, after hitting post-to-Twitter, almost immediately a quote-tweet notification hits: Spiro is threatening to sue if the article isn’t amended to put his name before Artemis’ on the list.
The week to follow is one of the most out-of-control “posting through it” moments in the site’s history, as unfortunately Butler is not able to stop Artemis from creating an account in service of merely writing “die” in all lowercase to Spiro’s tweet, before Artemis closes the site, never to log in again.
The article is quietly taken down.
