I have a friend who is hosting a Disability Drag Show next year, and they need help with funding.
They made this show because they need braces and compression gear to support their body during physical activity, and people frowned upon him wearing them since they are considered ugly and there isn't a ton of support or chronically ill/disabled people in the drag community.
If you want to support a drag show made by and for disabled people, please share and donate to their gofundme! Their Instagram is @di.vine_intervention (there is more info about the show there), and the gofundme is https://gofund.me/786d31a3 (or just look up Disability Drag Show on gofundme)
Seeing a trans man being attacked online for doing drag is so sad. Too many people even in the queer community don’t see Trans men as real men and only see us as best man lite. Anyway support trans drag queens.
My first ever drag show. This was all part of basically a mentorship program show. Taking in Queens who'd never performed and giving them a stage with up to two mentors.
Mine were Miss M and Nixon. They both did a great job teaching me how to use and get the makeup I needed. Which is probably my biggest concern right now besides my lack of wigs and skill lol
Still I feel like I have a strong esthetic and identity to really get into drag in the new year
I think a lot of people on this website would benefit from hearing that back in 2011 when I was a part of my college's pride group, I was friends with a gay cis male drag queen whose roommate was a lesbian. They had sex with each other often, but it didn't stop my friend from identifying as a gay guy, nor did it stop their roommate from being a lesbian. Neither of them identified as bisexual. This kind of stuff happens between queer people of "conflicting" identities all the time, it's nothing new. There aren't any rules
My second show and my second attempt to upload this on tumblr lol. I really do love this dress for its simplicity. Also really proud of my makeup, I've never done a look like this before. I really wanna try it again but with black sparkles so it'll really pop.
The show itself was a little quite, probably because it was so close to new years. It was also really great since this show is a trans only cast. I hope to go again next month. (It's a monthly show.)
Lizzo defies drag ban by inviting drag queens on stage in Tennessee
Pink News writes:
“In an act of defiance against Tennessee’s anti-drag law, Lizzo has performed in the state with a whole bunch of Drag Race faves and local queens, and yes, it was iconic.”
Lizzo said:
“In light of recent and tragic events and current events, I was told by people on the internet, ‘Cancel your shows in Tennessee,’ ‘Don’t go to Tennessee,’ ‘We don’t have to go there’.
“Their reasons were valid. But why would I not come to the people who need to hear this message the most, the people who need to feel this release the most?
“Why would I not create a safe space in Tennessee where we can celebrate drag entertainers and celebrate our differences? And celebrate fat Black women?”
