Danny Phantom fic idea:

I love transDanny! AUs that came about because Dani is female presenting. But what if Dani is actually the trans sibling?

The mind fog was starting to clear. They were starting to gain feeling in their... limbs? Wait, they don't have limbs yet. Oh right, they have to form those! They don't know how or why they know this, but a template appears in their subconscious, guiding them to forming a body out of the ecto-goo that currently makes up their being.

First, a head. The template says short hair, but that doesn't feel right. They want long hair! And more rounded cheeks!

Next, a torso. They can feel their ecto supply running lower than expected, so it's probably best to make the torso smaller than the template asks.

Then, extremities. Arms, legs, hands, feet. These also need to be shorter, to match with the shorter torso.

Oh, it looks like there's a little bit of ecto-goo left over! Where should they put it? The template says down below, but they don't think that's right. Moving the ecto around their newly forming body, they finally find the right place. The last bit of ecto-goo sits on their chest, two spots that feel right despite being contrary to the template they have been following.

Finally feeling fully formed, the new... entity? Being? Person? Person. The newly formed person starts tuning in their senses to the world around them. The liquid that they, no, that she is floating in feel cool against her skin. She starts to hear noise outside the liquid. A man talking, but she can't make out the words.

She opens her eyes, gazing upon the world for the first time...

So I've seen Danny phantom fics where Danny is trans. And there siting Dani being what his genetic makeup made him as. (This didn't make sense to me, like the other clones of dannys were all male.) But what if Dani is the trans one.

Hear me out.

If when vlad created Dani she was male. And as she started living outside the pod she started to realize that she wasn't comfortable in her male body. The ectoplasma reacted to her self image and changed her body. But her human half wasn't ment for that type of change.

It wasn't her ghost half reacting bad to her human half that made her to destabilize. It was her human half not being able to change.

Vlad doesn't take this well. He wants the perfect SON, and yet this CLONE changes Daniels gender?

When Dani starts destabilizing vlad pretends to exept her so she'll get Danny.

"God, you looked like such a dork," Sam teased him. Danny turned to see what his fiancée was referencing.

It was a photo of them, on their first official date, to homecoming their freshman year. He was still pretty lanky and scrawny then, his hair still at an odd, shaggy length but still gelled for the occasion. The suit fit him a tad awkwardly, but he still remembered the excitement of wearing one for the first time. God, he was so proud then, but now it was just embarrassing to see.

Sam on the other hand, seemed to never have that awkward phase, and she didn't have a hint of it then. In a dark purple and black dress, heels, she stood taller than him with long hair that was curled. She looked stunning, makeup already perfected.

The photo in question was picked out and set aside on the table Sam sat at in their apartment. Four boxes of photos, open and being sorted through for photos to be sent to Tucker, so he could put the powerpoint together.

"Hey, I was like, thirteen," he defended himself, and he reached over to try to take it out of the pile, but Sam slapped his hand.

"No!" she scowled. "I want that for the wedding slideshow Tucker's making."

"You can't pick anything where I look less dorky?" he complained. Sam grinned, shifting through more photos.

"Oh, is that a challenge?" she asked. Danny narrowed his eyes at her.

"Don't you dare," he threatened. Sam's grin only widened, and she looked faster before pulling a photo out. Danny leaned across the dining room table for her, only for her to lean back into the couch and holding the photo out of reach. "SAM!"

"Come on, it's funny!" she replied.

She turned to show him the photo, of Danny waving around his binder in one hand, a margarita in the other. It was the backstory that made it funny to her. Danny, drunk as a skunk, was forced to take his binder off by his girlfriend. If he didn't then, he would never do it later and risk getting hurt. He spent the remaining hour he was allowed to roam free showing it to people, saying that his tits were freed from prison but that they were scheduled to be executed soon.

"Sam, your grandma's gonna be at the wedding, you really want her to see?" he protested. Sam snorted.

"Ida's seen it, she thinks it's funny," Sam gave a wicked smile.

"SAM!"

"Oh, Danny," Sam cooed, changing the subject. She pulled another photo from the pile out to show him. "This is one of my favorite pictures, we have to include this."

Danny glanced at it, and his heart instantly melted. He slipped into the seat across from her to take the photo, staring at it. By random chance, their surgeries were on the same day. Sam having breast implants, and Danny having his top surgery. It started a joke that Danny was giving his tits to her, or that Sam was stealing Danny's for herself, and the hospital had allowed for the two to share a room. It was against policy of course, but it hadn't stopped Sam from sneaking out of her bed to slip into Danny's. The couple were cuddled the best they could and napped from an exhausting day when Tucker had taken the photo for them.

"Mine too," he replied softly. "Tucker was the best." The techno geek, the couple could never thank their best friend enough for it, spend nearly two weeks taking care of the two and helping them out. "Okay, but if we have that, we need to also have like, the one of Tucker helping me."

Sam burst into giggles as she watched Danny look for it, eventually producing the image. Ida had taken it, finding the situation hilarious. Danny was nervous as hell about proposing to Sam. And Tucker, man they were such a bro, had volunteered to let Danny practice on them. Tucker had dramatic tears, hands on their cheeks in a fake scream of joy with Danny on one knee, trying to keep from rolling his eyes as he practiced the big question.

"Absolutely," she agreed with a sigh. "We have a lot of time we can fill, especially since we're not doing baby photos."

Ugh, absolutely not. There was no way Danny was going to show the extensive list of guests photos of him as little baby [redacted] Fenton, in a dress or skirts. Nor was Sam interested in having photos be shown of baby [redacted] Manson in a dorky sailor suit, as per rich person family tradition.

"We can do our graduation photos, like college," Danny suggested.

"Oh, absolutely. I looked so great in that, I finally had actual hips," Sam agreed immediately.

"Same, my beard was finally growing in," Danny nodded. He finally found it, and he took it out the photos for them to both look at.

Danny and Tucker had graduated together, their diplomas held in computer science, Danny, with a full beard, in mechanical engineering. Sam still stood with them, but in a dark purple dress and her famous black bat purse. Sam had graduated a year after them due to her double major in business and animal science, both of which she held proudly in her photo with Tucker and Danny in nice suits, on either side of her. By Sam's graduation, Danny had finally given in and shaved, staying clean shaven ever since. Nobody told him having a beard was going to be so much work. Who knew you still had to trim and shave certain areas lest you began looking like a crazed mountain man? Maybe one day he'll try again, but for his wedding, he was going to be facial hair free.

"Can you believe it's just two months away?" Danny asked, mostly wondering aloud to himself.

"No," Sam confessed. Her attention was on a photo she had found. Danny immediately knew based on her expression that it was a childhood photo. "...Honestly I'm still surprised sometimes that I made it this far."

He gave a nod of understanding, his throat tightening. They were the lucky ones. They had families that loved and supported them from the start. But even then there was always that horrible gnawing feeling, that loathing of the time you lost. The crippling self doubt after the mandatory therapy and evaluations of doctors. There were times he was surprised he made it this far too.

"...Yeah," was all he could think to say.

His hand moved across the table, and Sam's had immediately met him halfway. Their fingers interlaced, and they remained silent, mourning briefly the lives they could have had if things were different. Of course, they were happy now. But sometimes…

He cleared his throat with a small cough. Things were the way they were. The past didn't matter. He was here now, presenting as he wished, and he had built a life worth living. It was still more than the hundreds of thousands of people could ever imagine having.

"But I'm glad I'm here with you now," Danny told her. She looked to him with a warm smile, and he knew she had the same thoughts as him. The circumstances were not ideal, but both of them had made the best of it.

"I love you," she spoke softly before lightly tapping her thumb against his hand. "I think I'm gonna make some pasta. Want some?"

"I would love some pasta, Mrs. Fenton."

The term made her visibly brighten more, and with a quick peck, she got up to make lunch.

Was thinking about the OP Danny tag and had an Idea.

So you know that one fic where everyone not from Amity Park are instinctively terrified of Danny? It’s basically that but with superheroes.

The supers are expecting, prepared for even, the aura of danger that Phantom and other ghosts emit and therefore aren’t too freaked out by him.

What they aren’t expecting however is feeling Existential Dread when they meet the otherwise unassuming son of Dr. and Dr. Fenton.

I'm not sure which fic that is but please!! send me a link!! I want to read it!! I love anything about outsiders interacting with anything/one from Amity Park

also Dr. and Dr. Fenton I am all about that, I've had it in my head for a long time that people who don't know them personally refer to them as Dr, but not people in their general daily life because they find it confusing, and I'm now realising I never made a post about that oops

(to clarify, the Fentons go by Mr and Mrs in regards to school meetings and professional conversations and such so they know which one of them someone is addressing, using body language and eye contact cues do not work because Jack doesn't generally look at people he's speaking with, it was Maddie's idea to drop the Dr titles because she preferred to make things easier for Jack rather than harass him about being better at reading people, because she is a Supportive Wife who doesn't shame her neurodivergent husband)

and I love that Creepy Boy aura, especially when people don't know he's Phantom because okay since we've been using DC heroes a lot I'll use them as a solid example for this next giant tangent

they probably wouldn't peg Danny's secret identity right away, like we know Batman is World's Greatest Detective but until he actually sees both Danny AND Phantom with his own two eyes he wouldn't make the connection because Danny has a Superman identity

by which I mean his strength is that nobody expects him to have a secret identity

people think Superman lives in the Fortress of Solitude, he has an alien home and an alien name and as far as people are concerned he just dropped onto earth a fully grown man, why would he need a secret identity?

Danny is exactly the same, as far as people know he's a ghost, his home is the Ghost Zone, he can't have a secret identity because he's dead, the closest thing he has to that is whoever he was when he was alive and that could have been anyone from any time within the last decade, any similarity noticed between Phantom and Danny would be chalked up to a simple coincidence, especially considering the headcanon that Phantom's body is built slightly different to Danny's (I run this through the transdanny canon where his ghost self presents more masc due to it reflecting Danny's body in a way that Feels Right to him)

so nobody, not even Batman, expects him to have any kind of human disguise, the only giveaway would be the fact that Batman has seen this trick before with Superman and still figured it out, so once he meets this kid who is the child of ghost hunters, who lives on top of the ghost portal, has an incredibly off-putting aura, and looks an awful lot like Phantom, that would be enough for him to start digging where most people would brush it away as coincidence

but like, who even knows how long it would take for him to come into contact with Danny's human self, he could have known about Phantom for days, weeks, or even years before ever realising that he's part human

it is super fun to imagine that first meeting though, when this gangly needy teenager is tagging along with his parents on this trip to install ghost tech in the watchtower (actually I vaguely recall reading a one shot fic about that premise yeeeaaaars ago but I can't remember what it was called RIP if I find it again I'll link it) and then any one of these seasoned superheroes who interact with him are like, 'bruh that kid gives me the creeps'

I can't help but draw a comparison to people feeling the same way around him as they feel around Jason Todd, because death leaves a stank on people that they just can't shake off

Your danny phantom designs are sooooo amazing. If you'd ever get the chance to do a reboot of the show, would you do it, with your concepts(transDanny), more modern setting and do on?

Thanks! I mean if I was somehow given the chance to, I'd like to include as much modernity as possible. Me doing a DP reboot would almost be like the inverse of TeenTitansGO, which I'd do a slightly more serious and more mature adaptation, with still some jokes and goofy eps. While I wouldn't wanna make everything about Danny suddenly focus on his trans-ness, I would hope I'd be able to allude to it and even have him openly say so in the show at least once. That stuff though seems to be a milestone that TV is still struggling with, so.

It’s in the “107 facts” video I reblogged a while ago (should recently be in my videos and my danny phantom tag)

He said something along the line of “I know people theorized about it, but the real reason Danny wears a shirt at the water park is because he gets sunburned easily.”

Except...the tone he said it was little...”I know about this, and I’m disproving it right now.” Especially when he mentions people have talked about it, considering the shirt is one of the biggest “clues” about the TransDanny headcanon. And Butch is a known transphobe/homophobe/Trump supporter so...

And what’s worse is that people are telling actual Trans folk that they “have” to respect and accept Butch’s words, because we’re not allowed to HC characters as being just like us. :/

My thoughts on all this Phandom drama rn...

Ok I'm gonna just say it. I personally don't like to think Danny is trans. That's just me. What I think it is, is modesty. Sam even called him "mister modesty" I think Danny is just a smol, shy and bashful child who prefers not to be exposed. I'm the same way! I have nothing to hide, and yet I hate swimsuits because I don't like having so much of my body showing. So no, I don't think he's trans, and that's ok!! You know what else is ok? Thinking he is! What I've always loved about this Phandom is the insane amount of creativity there is. The most I've seen in any fandom ever in my opinion. Here we are, all lovers of an amazing show, with so much potential that was never fulfilled. So what do we do? We fulfill it, and come up with all kinds of amazing AU's and head cannons that suit everybody's different interest, and make the show all the more amazing! This is what Elmer Hartman fails to see. Any creator of any show would be thrilled and inspired by the amount of attention and creativity the phandom brings. Most especially 10 YEARS after the show has ended. Ok I get it Elmer, your allowed to be proud and protective of something you worked hard to make, and is completely your own, but that doesn't mean you should strait up block people that have different and creative alternatives to a story! That's what fandoms do!! That in essence is what the purpose of a fan fiction is! Instead of encouraging, and supporting the dedicated and imaginative fans of his show, he acts like a child and throws a fit every time anyone says ANYTHING about the show that he doesn't agree with. This is my biggest problem with him. (and trust me there are many more.) Here's the bottom line. Trans or not trans, truephan or antiphan, cannon or not cannon, this Phantom is amazing. ALL sides of it. Elmer may have created the show, (and I still can't understand how) but we created its community and its legacy. Who gives a damn what he has to say about our ideas! We're entitled to them, as is he. Embrace your ideas, and your interests, poor your amazing talent into them and keep this Phantom awesome. For all I care, Elmer isn't even apart of what we've built, and until he learns to grow up, I'm fine with keeping it that way. *bows dramatically in front of Elmer and struts away*

a thing I love about the TransDanny headcanon: there's a photo of Danny and Maddie when he was little, happily dressed and presenting as male, meaning that his parents either accepted him as trans from a young age, or allowed him to dress himself and have his hair done as short as he wanted and not forcing him to conform to gender roles, which allowed his coming out to be a lot easier did he have a phase where everyone just called him a 'tomboy'? or did he announce that he was a boy early on and that was that from then on? did he start school as Daniel or Danielle? like maybe it was one of those kids will be kids things where he wanted to be a boy for a day and his parents were like, 'aww that's cute we'll let her have her fun' but a day became a week, a month, a year, he never grew out of it because he was never just playing pretend personally I like to think that it started with Maddie and Jack just having super lax views on gender roles, unsurprising since Jack loves knitting which he might have been made fun of for because it's 'feminine' and Maddie is very strong and self sufficient and grew up with a big tough sister who wears her hair short and acts very 'masculine', so they already have experience subverting traditional gender roles so when they have a daughter who drags them to the boy aisle as soon as she's old enough to choose her own clothes/toys and asks for a short haircut like that Chip Skylark guy who sings about his shiny teeth on tv, Maddie and Jack are just like, yeah sure why not? their kid can look however she wants Danny was able to present as male from a very early age, his parents treated him and Jazz equally regardless of gender and I feel like maybe he didn't even think to ask to be referred to by male pronouns until he got to school and the kids immediately assumed he was male and he realised ho dang, this feels RIGHT. and then he'd have the teachers calling him Danielle and referring to him as female and another kid is like, umm Danny's a boy tho?? and the teacher looks at this little boy with little boy hair and little boy clothes and is like, oh uh sorry kid there must have been a mistake in the paperwork, was it supposed to say Daniel? and he's just like yES YES DANIEL THAT'S RIGHT THAT IS MY NAME ALWAYS YEP but then he feels bad because technically he 'lied' to the teacher so he goes home and doesn't say anything because he thinks his parents will be mad at him for lying on his first day at school and then the parents get a call from some very confused school staff asking whether or not they'd enrolled a boy or a girl because they had a Danielle Fenton in the paperwork but a Daniel Fenton was dropped off to class this morning and that's when Maddie and Jack were like... oooooh okay so this is how it is they tell the school that he's definitely a boy, always has been, they don't say he's trans because they probably don't even know that word exists but they do know that their daughter seems far more comfortable as their son and they don't see a problem with that and as far as they're concerned it's none of the school's business they'd probably sit Danny down for a talk after that in which he starts crying and apologising and they have to spend about ten minutes ensuring him that he isn't in trouble for lying at school and if he wants to be a boy that's okay they can call him a boy for as long as he wants, he just has to let them know if he changes his mind but if he doesn't then that's okay too, they just want him to be happy and from that point on he was pretty much just the Fentons' son, his parents would buy him binders and do research on trans kids to make sure they were doing the right thing and as soon as he was old enough for T they said they'd support him whether or not he wanted to take it and if there were any complications it was okay because he was still their boy no matter what his body looked like I mean just, the Fentons have fucked up a lot of aspects of parenthood so I just really really REALLY want them to have done this one RIGHT or as right as they possibly can, they might be quite scatterbrained and neglectful at times but it's clear that they really do love their kids, and were probably a lot closer with them when they were young, so it makes sense to me that they would be accepting of Danny's identity even from such a young age all they want is for their kids to feel happy and safe, which means when they find out he's half ghost it still doesn't MATTER, because they already promised they'd accept him no matter what

Chill your tits. Honestly. This discourse is pathetic. You all getting upset and grumbly at Hartman isn't going to do diddly dick. His statements already mean nothing to those who are already ignoring them so how is this any different than what we've be doing before?

You like transDanny? Then just ignore the video and continue to do your own thing. No one's stopping you, and anyone who tries is not worth your time dealing with.

Hartman is going to say and do things that we as fans aren't going to like. But those things aren't the be all end all. We've built our own stuff in the 10-12 years since the show was being created. Why does this affect anything?

tl;dr: Just tell Hartman to shove it and move on with your lives. Tbh, it's not like Hartman's statements actually carry any weight when he's not actively making any new content for the show.
