WHY Isn't there a high-lvl Transmutation spell where you turn into a Dragon for X Turns??? That seems so OBVIOUS, right???

Any witch tips?

so I've been thinking about making a protection/warding jar or something of the sort for keeping my little sister safe, but I'm not sure how I'd do that without running the risk of accidentally hurting her. I want to make the jar baneful or transmutational. I'm not sure how I'd go about making a baneful ward without possibly catching her in the crossfire, and I've never done transmutation work before.

Week 8: Transmutation - Prestidigitation

This last image took me a while to do because I scrapped my original idea after already working on it for a week. And I'm glad I did! Because I love the look of this one way more!

From the start of this art adventure, I knew I wanted to draw Volo at some point and since I ended up drawing the schools out of their planned order, I guess I saved the best for last. I absolutely adore his portrayal in Baldur's Gate 3 and having Volo in my camp is simply a delight! It's too bad he doesn't have a bigger story, but getting to hear him greet me so cheerily every time always puts a smile on my face.

There aren't a lot of transmutation options for a level 1 wizard. Fortunately he has prestidigitation! Here Volo is using that show magic to add some flare to his retelling of the attack on the Emerald Grove—that moment when the goblins showed up flying banners of the Absolute and leading a massive dragon! There were flames and blood and hordes of enemies...That's how it went down, right?

As an avid D&D player and DM, I love this magic system you've created so much- bc it means that necromancy exists like it does in D&D, but because David is David (TM), he just goes "yeah, but yk what would make this better? Puppets." and just is flying by the seat of his pants trying to create a fusion of DIY crafts and reanimation. he even could be inadvertendly creating an entirely new form of magic while messing around with the Book and his puppetry, but no one will ever know bc he just wants to play around with his little flesh puppets instead of, idk, sitting down and writing an actual grimoire/codex on it and i love him so much for that <3

Really tho!! This is the closest anyone has ever come come to actual reanimation in this universe, not just souless zombies or possessed lamps, real breathing creatures with the souls of people and working innards to back it up! And he's not even writing it down!

waiting for things to be perfect (in timing, in execution, etc) has been the sole biggest hindrance of my growth as an artist and as a person. nothing will ever be perfect…there is always something to change or build upon. and that is not a negative thing at all. i need to reframe my mind. i thought that keeping thoughts and ideas in the energetic realm and waiting to bring to them into the physical until they were just right was the correct way…i thought don’t do it until i’m ready, until the time feels right. but the time actually never is right. and there’s always another resource we could have that could somehow improve our creation, or more time that could help us perfect it even better. but the point is that you unleash the idea now. even if it feels incomplete. that’s the only way anything can grow…from a starting point. everything and everyone in this world starts from zero, from a blank slate, from a directionless place.

....japanese people are still capable of writing good female characters whose brains don't operate on Uterus Rules despite their society being sexist as hell. you don't have to break your spine bending over backwards to defend a textbook case of madonna-whore syndrome to pretend it was some sweeping feminist point that a character who previously had valid reasons for not wanting a child suddenly Became Maternal as part of her ""redemption arc"" and then got killed off 5 minutes later. even knowing the state of women's status in japan, i'd wager this is an example of that sexism rather than some 5D-chess denunciation of it lmao
