"Trashers" as they are referred to by the layman, were a type of Corporate shock-trooper enlisted by Volker Corporation. Used some time shortly after the end of World War 3, they were deployed in central European and north African war refugee camps. The camps themselves grew rapidly as the liberal use of chemical and nuclear weapons during the war had left many major populations centers completely uninhabitable. Climate disaster would also play its part in the displacement of many people along the equatorial line. The largest of these camps would be home to millions of people, more akin to prefab structure micro-cities.
Riots and gang activity were common place, trashers were deployed to indiscriminately kill troublemakers as means of control through intimidation. As there were often no public services such as trash collection this meant that the iconic "trash suit" allowed them to hide among the piled up garbage and engage in ambush attacks.
Trashers themselves were of a particular sort, often recruited from the very camps they would later terrorize. Most were power hungry, desperate, or just sadistic; willing to hurt and kill without a second thought. Though as many of these camps would eventually be phased out as residents were moved into more permanent prefab cities, the Trashers were no longer needed. Over the years many people would become fascinated with the Trashers, with fanatical communities cropping up that would dress in their own similar suits as a fashion statement. Some mercenaries would even employ similar tactics to Trashers, wearing variations of the veritable "Urban Garbage Camo Suit"
