Varanasi Chronicles
The rhythmic clatter of the train on the tracks marked the beginning of our adventure to the ancient city of Banaras. The 6 am journey, though a bit wearisome with scattered seats, couldn’t dampen the excitement of our small band of four friends. None, except for me, had set foot in this city before. The thought lingered: would they find it enchanting or just another escapade? Noon graced us…

Preview of My Next Book, Odds & Gods
Chapter One The first time I saw my name in print was not on a “Hello My Name Is” sticker but in the American Alpine Journal on climbing accidents in North America. Which was not the kind of publicity I needed, after all I was the go to guy for remote and hostile location media work.             California, Yosemite Valley, Half Dome Route On June 4, 1988, at 1200 hours, Yosemite’s ranger…

Lonely Thoughts On Regular Things pt 1.
I came to this place temporarily
So far up North that the Sun stays out well into the evening
and there's a frigidity in the air that never goes away.
I could be sitting on the front porch, slowly roasting
my shiny knees reflecting the sun light--
and the faintest stirring would carry an icy nip.
I slept with the window open, barely a crack, and the chill settled inside my nose, so here I am, in the middle of summer, with a sniffle.
I forgot that this is a town built around a coast line.
The seagulls never do.
A waft of fried clams and salt water assail me on a walk, instantly taking me back to my childhood spent visiting my grandparents who lived in a trailer 2 blocks from a neglected beach.
I took a nap in the middle of the day but was startled awake by a desperate fly trapped between the window and the shade.
Bumping and buzzing then resting
over and over again until it stopped for good.
Most of the drawers are empty, some have dried shut from layers of paint added over the years.
There are no trinkets cluttering the counters or unnecessary art salvaged from free boxes.
I opened the medicine cabinet above the bathroom sink and found love notes written on post-its.
I reach over to you at night wanting to tell you all these funny, regular things, but you are a thousand miles away.

"The landscape itself is the main focus of A Line in the World, more so than memoir or human drama. Nors’ heartbreakingly beautiful prose takes on the incantatory power of poetry as she describes meadows “drinking from the energies of the universe” and the flowers on elder trees “hovering like small helicopters.” A Line in the World is about as non-fiction as you can get – somewhere between diary, history book and travel guide – yet it reads like magic realism with its lush, evocative language and intensely intimate gaze." My review of @dorthenors' exquisite A Line In The World (@graywolfpress) is up now at Spectrum Culture! A Winter’s Day at Seabeck
I’m sitting in an impossibly beautiful place, gazing out over the waters of the Hood Canal. It’s the kind of view that makes one tremendously sad that the sun will set, as it incessantly does every day — to blind me from this picture for another twelve hours (well, fifteen really; we’re still firmly in January) seems like an unnecessary cruelty.
A more enlightened man would exclaim his gratitude for the time he gets to bear witness to these placid straits, these rolling evergreen-topped hills, these snow-dappled mountains. I, on the other hand, will be here desperately grasping for every last second with it, cursing myself for every moment that I looked away.

It's been almost 3 weeks but I finally finished my account from October's trip to Seoul! One of my favourite trips I've done recently, not least because of the Autumn colours 🍂 . . . . . Also slowly working on finishing the galleries from last year's trips. Lots of work still to do though. In the meantime, why not check out the written accounts on my blog, Shambles Ramble! . . . . . #shamblesramble #traveljournal #traveler #travelwriting #travelphotography #autumn #fallcolours #fallcolors #autumnvibes #autumnleaves #cosy #seoul #photooftheday #blog #blogging #blogger #travelblogger (at Seoul, Korea) https://www.instagram.com/p/CksttPOPGwQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

First Solo trip: The journey of self-discovery
Once upon a time in a small town nestled between rolling hills and meandering rivers, there lived a young man named Abhi. Abhi was known for his predictable routine—work, home, dinner, and a bit of TV before bedtime. His life was comfortable but lacked the excitement he craved. One day, he stumbled upon an online community that organized spontaneous trips with strangers to unknown destinations.…

Life in the City of Angels: Sail Away
In the late afternoon light as the heat of the day slowly dissipates and shadows begin to grow. John settles into a convenient position on a green metal bench leaving behind his anxiety at the intersection of La Cienega and 18th Street. It is here that John displays his soul to the rest of humanity as he drifts away from the aroma of exhaust and the pandemonium of metal, glass and tires. He has…
