So, I'm rewatching the latest episode for Bells Hells and I love how absolutely HORRIFIED Imogen and Laura is everything out of Ashley Johnson's/Fearne's mouth.
Like look at this:
Ashley describes Fearne's room and look at the genuine smile from Laura because I think she's imagining Fearne's room a little like Jester's room.
It does not last long because this is when Ashley decided to drop this:
Ashley/Fearne: "If you look closely the curtains are skin."
Look at Laura's smile freeze and her eyes widen.
Laura's mouth drops as it fully registers, and Ashley is excited.
Meanwhile:
Travis repeats, louder: SKIN???
And Marisha who had no reaction before begins to smile. The contrast!
Laura is still stunned. Marisha and Taliesin are enjoying themselves.
Imogen now wants to crawl far away from this house of horrors.
And then Ashley explains there are creatures on her ceiling that can come alive singing when Nana Morri magicks them too.
Mentally, Imogen is trying to disappear from this narrative.
Ashley Johnson (Marisha and Taliesin included): Having the time of their lives.
Laura, Sam, and Travis: NOPE.
Imogen is fixated on the skin curtain. It's like she both does and doesn't want to know but her curiosity got the better of her. Fearne, on the other hand, is just EXCITED to share.
Fearne: ANIMATED.
Imogen: I have Regrets.
Fearne: (Explains MOAR)
Imogen: (smiling too widely, screaming internally) Great.
Hahaha. Imogen realizes that she doesn't actually like scary things if it's not connected to Laudna. Imogen's internal screaming can be heard from space.

C3E27 - reaction
I love what Ashley is doing with Fearne. It’s not quite an amnesia thing, but it’s clearly SOMETHING affecting her memory. She never really dived into the lost time aspect with Yasha in too much depth (for as much as it influenced her actions), so I’m excited to see where she goes with this!
Interestingly, I’m not sure if that was Erika or Dusk stirring shit with asking Laudna asking on the date.
Wonderful scene with Imogen and Laudna. Confirmed that the relationship is not currently romantic. (look, I really don’t mind if it becomes romantic in the future, but I’m just so annoyed with people insisting that it’s absolutely 100% romantic now. Ship away! But right now? Your ship is not (romantically) canon.)
SAM. SAM. Fucking thank you!!!! I know that Sam will always end up bringing a ton of depth into his PCs, but it’s sometimes a struggling dealing with the surface level jokes until we get that depth. Now we’re really starting to see shit go down with FCG, and he just feels more like a fleshed out PC (no pun intended). (though I admit, I doubt they’d be acting this way if Sam didn’t know that Imogen and Laudna were already resolved XD)
Oh INNNNNTERESTING. Dusk was pretty clearly eavesdropping, but then Liam fucked everything up by not know and instead engaging in RP, so how does this now work in game? Erika seemed to have been confirmed to hear the entire convo, but now because of this, now Dusk has missed the entire convo? Does Matt rule that they hear part of it? I’d love to know how this bit works out mechanically.
Speaking of shipping, well boo there goes my Fearne/Orym ship and my Imogen/Orym ship. Definitely was more heavy towards Fearne/Orym - one because I love the dynamics, and two because I DESPERATELY want more Liam/Ashley RP. Give me moar, pls!!!!! (hmmm, I think Orym is shipless for me now, as I’m not a Dorym shipper, and I’m feeling Ashton more with Fearne or Laudna. Alright Matt, pull up an NPC for this boy to romance! [I kid, I kid. I have a strong feeling that Liam’s going to avoid romance this campaign considering how heavily it ended up impacting the past two, and he even went into C2 with the intention of not doing it] )
Can I just briefly mention how adorable Laura and Travis have been this campaign? Vex and Grog had a little bit of the bickering, but I feel like Laura and Travis are having a BLAST leaning into it with Imogen and Chetney. Just, you can tell their delighted every time they do it.
I am really really enjoying Ashton when he/Taliesin is not trying to be secretive as fuck. Seriously, Ashton is so much more enjoyable when they’re in action, sharing information, having conversations. I just get annoyed when they deflect shit that doesn’t need to be deflected. (coming back, the Clasp! Confirmed!)
OTOHAN THULL. Holy fuck, Matt is just going SO FUCKING HARD into plot this campaign. It’s why it’s so weird that it does feel a bit slower paced, considering the plot shit is LIKE NON FREAKING STOP.
Once again, I love that Ashley is going full form this campaign. SHE DESERVES IT. I also love that everyone’s giving her shit for it, as if they all haven’t done it in one form or another in previous campaigns (or even in the current campaign, TRAVIS).
Not much to say during second half as it’s a lot of set up, but it’s fun set up to watch, and it doesn’t feel like it’s dragging. Looking forwards to the race! And poor Travis, I feel like he and I were on the exact same page. Still into it, but adhd means that full focus wasn’t there. I spent probably the last 40 minutes watching while also playing on my phone. Still enjoying! But couldn’t give it my full attention. And if I’m right and he was experiencing that? oh boy, it’s so much harder in person.

C3E37 episode feelings (SPOILERS AHOY)

An.
EPISODE!
Oh my gods... from the DARK CITY vibes of the shadow of Whitestone (FYI, if you have never seen DARK CITY, you absolutely should, it’s a fantastic film) to those bittersweet glimpses into Laudna’s life in Whitestone. The whole thing had this nightmarishly disjointed feeling that was just so well-suited for what was going on, and that’s BEFORE shit got real!
Oh wow. The bargaining. The threatening. The all-too-brief hope spot of Marisha... and then, THEN we get that whoooooooooole clusterfuck at the nega-Sun Tree.
And *EVEN* with them missing out on a much-needed short rest, *EVEN* with dice rolls going against them like 75% of the time (although PRAISE THE GODS AND ALL THE SAINTS that the Catha die was there for Orym when he really needed it), *EVEN* with two party members getting bampfed into the ether (and no real certainty that they would wake up afterward)...
... even with *ALL* of that...
... they STILL pulled off the most abso-fucking-lutely skin-of-their-teeth this-is-one-for-the-annals-of-history battles in all of Critical Role.
AND THEN FUCKING MATTHEW MERCER CALLS THE FUCKING EPISODE THERE?!
Anyway.
Moments that just absolutely did it for me because I always notice these things.
The absolute trainwreck of an intro that STARTS the episode. One for the ages.
THE NEW LOGO! I LOVE IT! PUT THAT ON A T-SHIRT SO I CAN BUY IT!
Mad props to Liam, Taliesin, and Travis especially for such perfectly in-character EMOTIONAL reactions to everything. Orym *begging* Laudna to walk in the sun with them one more time. Ashton desperately trying to convince Imogen not to waste time on what can’t be changed and to focus on what CAN. Chetney once again pulling out the Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass side of his personality.
And seeing the three dads at the table reflexively CRINGING when Delilah made that “do you know what I do to children” comment. (Especially Liam.) Oh... I felt that through my computer monitor.
Fearne and Imogen trying frantically not to panic as Delilah starts chasing them down. (Though I swear to Christ, Laura, you do that high-pitched obnoxious squeal one more time and I will reach through the internet and slam you upside the head with your own dice bag, which probably does at least 3d8 bludgeoning damage. Sorry, but when you have hearing problems to begin with, that was almost KAFOOM INSTANT MIGRAINE.)
The looks of utter LOATHING on all of the cast’s faces when Delilah opens her mouth.
(Contrasted by the cast’s looks of utter GLEE when Matt comes out with the map.)

Wow. Best promo skit yet. "New guy" comes on and everybody's reactions are priceless. Love how Travis, Ashley and Marisha are LOSING IT, Erika's just GOING WITH IT, and Liam and Laura are just like WHAT??!!! Then there's Taliesin being much more slowburn in his cracking up, it's beautiful. And Matt, who must've been in on it, he's finding it nigh on IMPOSSIBLE to keep a straight face.

CRITICAL ROLE C3E23

Happy Friday the 13th! >:)
I usually struggle with staying awake / paying attention for the entirety of Critical Role, but not this week! I think the key was drinking a large iced coffee in the late afternoon and following it up with 20mg of edibles when I got home from work. Marisha also mentioned that it would be a doozy in the Bootie Mashup Twitch chat, so admittedly I was tipped off that I would probably want to see the whole thing!
THIS EPISODE HAD EVERYTHING (spoilers below!)
- Chetney's unhinged shopkeeper intimidation one-man
one-werewolf show that went so well until the very end... LMAO. My wife mentioned that Travis seems to be having more fun than ever in the game, and I agree! Good for him <3
- Fearne flat-out coming on to Lord Eshteross - I expect nothing less from our horny chaos queen!! (And like... I get it. Eshteross hot.) Ashley at her most chaotic is a beautiful thing to behold.
- Ashton's amazing portal trick!!! That was rad as hell. I love the way they merge the physicality of playing a barbarian / physical damage dealer with some cool magic-esque elements. I love the creative subclass designs in CR!!
- The way Orym was asking for trouble when he cut the rope on the deck of the airship and ended up almost dying by falling off the side... WE KNEW IT WAS GONNA HAPPEN lol, but still scary as hell for a moment there!! Which leads me to...
- IMOGEN'S BADASS JEAN GREY MOMENT what the fuck... speaking of cool subclasses, I can't wait to learn more about Imogen's abilities!! I love it when cast members and Matt are in cahoots and surprise everyone else :) Also if Imogen wasn't already my favorite she probably would be now cuz I love the trope of a woman learning to harness her incredible-but-scary powers <3
- The whole end scene on the deck of the airship between Laudna and Imogen... THAT WAS EVERYTHING. Scenes like that are what make CR such an incredible experience to watch. Seeing the rest of the cast's reactions (Ashley especially lol) is always great and shows the power of improvisational storytelling! But oh man THE ANGST... I am in pain and yet I live for that shit!! I'm loving Laura's commitment to vulnerability this campaign (the stone comforts Imogen... oh jeez), and Marisha/Laudna wanting so badly to protect her but falling prey to her own demons (i.e. Delilah!). I think we were all expecting the stone to bring out a dark side of Imogen, but having it affect Laudna instead was brilliant.
And talk about a cliffhanger!! That's how you do it, people!

Okay, I get that we got Imogen and Laudna soft and domestic post-nightmare goodness - and don’t get me wrong it was heartwarming and I loved it, whatever these two have going on. So I guess fair that other stuff that episode got pushed aside.
But can we talk about the end of the scene of Imogen in the library looking things up for Laudna or did no one else catch it because I did a Travis “a year after she died” reaction there.
Like, Imogen decides that it’s been enough research for that day, even though there is more she wants to know. And she says to Matt, and I quote “I have so many other things I want to look up in regards to Laudna.”
Not “want to look up for Laudna”.
Because everything Laudna asked her to look into she pretty much looked into with this study session. And even if they discussed more beforehand, of what to research, it still seems like an odd choice of words. Because she would still be looking stuff up for Laudna.
But this sounds like she wants to read more about Laudna.
So here is what I think: Imogen, her own powers aside, wants to know what the deal is with her partner. And I am not talking about Laudna being weird and stuff. I am talking about Laudna’s situation. Her undeath. Her entire current being. Of course Imogen would want Delilah out of Laudna’s head, too. That lady is dangerous. And I am pretty sure Laudna would be perfectly fine stopping there.
But what if, what if, Imogen doesn’t want to stop there? What if she wants to learn more so she can help her partner? Save her, even?
Laudna herself said she doesn’t quite know what she is (the Critters know she is a Hollow One because of the source book). What if Imogen wants to figure out what caused Laudna “to turn”, and what if turned her into specifically? What if she wants to find a way to undo it, but in the “right way”? To make Laudna truly alive again?
And Laudna doesn’t necessarily know about Imogen doing all this research on her behalf.
Anyways, if that is the case then I am soft for these two caring about each other so goddamn much.

While I appreciate that Travis and Matt are working on something amazing for Travis’ real character, I’m a little bummed that we don’t have Travis at the table because you know his reactions to some of the things that happened tonight would’ve been gold.
