Hi!
Okay, did I read all of your tgp fics literally overnight? yes
Am I going to comment on every single one of them as soon as I remember my ao3 password? also yes
I need to say I made a giant mistake by reading them in reverse chronological order. The Michael that cries on the beach over his forever bestie slash the love of his eternal life slash soulmate gets thrown out of the window for a horny morally dubious fire squid mess in all kinds of ambiguous relationships with his human.
As a side note: he gets tortured a lot. you're really into torturing him and you're good at it. Another side note: i learned what "whump" means thanks to you. That was a very interesting experience to experience at 8am with no sleep. Now I have my own terrible ideas! 😌
I'm really curious about the development of Michael that has sexual desires like does his big demon brain generate it? Is it the human costume influence? Does Eleanor just rewire his biology 🤔 I know you don't go there anymore but-
anyway your fics fed me so so so we'll 🍤 thank you
Yo!
First off I'm always flattered whenever someone says they binged my fics, even though I don't really go here anymore its more due to my other fandoms being more active whereas I do still have a soft spot for Hellstrop, though mostly as platonic soulmates. However my NPL "AU babies" as I once called them are a ship on their own and Im so happy they've not been completely forgotten.
And yes...writing them was definitely a journey.
I also learned the word whump through them, even though I've written for that genre for years! But the prompt I found that gave me the idea for NPL was from a "whump" loving blog so that's where I learned!
Whump ideas are always the best, I hope you're able to bring those ideas to life somehow!
Going on to Michael, obviously he's no longer my primary blorbo (sorry bud) but if I try to remember how I got into his head, his relationship with sex was always an interesting one. Because I do agree with most of the fandom that on the show; he is asexual. Or at the very least, demi. And I don't think that's necessarily a demon or immortal thing as you get the vibe from other immortals like Trevor or the Judge that they're into sex. I think its just a Michael thing, it's not something he's interested in...but, fanfic is fanfic and if one headcanons him as demi like I do then it could be just one or someone very special makes him the kinda horny demon-boy I wrote in NPL where he's just got all these feelings and thoughts that almost scare him until he figures out how to work with them in a way he really wants and that doesn't hurt anyone. Where I heavily disagree with the fandom is him being aromantic. People are free to think that if they want but we have people working on the show who described his and Eleanor's relationship as a "chaste romance", in fact his whole fascination with the human race is something of a romance. Not to mention Ted Danson having said that he headcanoned Michael and the guitar teacher becoming a couple. "Michael got laid!" I believe were his words. 😂 it could just be Ted being biased with his wife being the actress but still, there seemed to be an intentional implication there. So yeah, Michael being interested in dating never seemed like that much of an impossibility for me, human or demon. The human costume definitely plays into everything about how much Michael just loves getting to be human and an important thing for me with writing NPL was Michael learning to appreciate those new urges and feelings in a healthy-ish way, considering how twisted the situation already is. His demon brain gave him an instinct to enjoy torturing but he fights to suppress that so he's not like Trevor. I don't think Eleanor necessarily rewired anything but rather opened the door to what was potentially already there. She was just the key that fit the lock, etc.
But yeah I've written different versions of how Michael is with sex, NPL is definitely a horndog compared to his other versions, some of which are straight up ace and even grossed out by their alternate self (but his girlfriend is Eleanor so c'mon! He's gotta keep his beach queen satisfied!), though it's less about him finding his own pleasure and more the joy he gets from pleasing Eleanor that thrills him. He's definitely a giver. 😏 Also it's been years now but I swear I put in so many references to him being genderfluid that I'm sure I queercoded the fork out of that relationship to the point it felt like a precursor the sapphic ships I have now!
Phew, thanks for taking me down fandom memory lane with that one! If that kinda topic is something you enjoyed searching for a fic called Synesthesia on Ao3. It's on an orphan account now but should be easy to find in the Hellstrop tag, but it basically explores Michael exploring sexual and romantic feelings but within a canon-adjescent plot rather than an AU. It's a must read if you like this ship.

HELLOW FELLOW TGP SHIPPER 🤝 🤝 would love to hear about your ship w eleanor heehee
Hi!!!! So I’ve only actually finished up to season 2, but I’ve finally gotten around to continuing the show again! :D
Anyway, my s/i is Tony Whitlock. She was born and raised in New Jersey, before moving to Wilmington, NC for college. While she kept mostly to herself during her grade school years, she found a new sense of freedom and self realization at UNCW. She stopped caring what people thought about her, only becoming more eccentric as the years went on. Most of what she did was for her own entertainment, going where she wanted when she wanted to. She never used this mentality for malicious acts, but it has gotten her into questionable situations. After she graduated, she stuck around in Wilmington, keeping in touch with her younger college friends to gain access to parties. It was one such party that led to her death, as she climbed to the roof of a frat house with her friends, only to wander too close to the edge. The next thing Tony knew, she found herself in Micehal’s office.
Tony’s carefree attitude didn’t stop in the good place; in fact, she used the otherworldly whimsy of it to her advantage. Her favorite thing to do was to get Janet to summon any random item she pleased, the most notable being a bay horse she named Bacon. On the day of the chaos storm caused by Eleanor’s behavior, Tony did not cower like the other citizens, rather rode Bacon through the heart of the frenzy having the time of her afterlife. The next day, she spotted Eleanor cleaning up the mess, and something about her caught Tony’s attention; a rarity in itself. So, she opted to help her out, making pleasant conversation as she did. Eleanor was a bit surprised, but didn’t refuse the help. From there, Tony would pop in and out of the story, often crashing at Eleanor and Chidi’s house.
Tony eventually meets Jason, and gets along with him well, as they both enjoy doing things for the fun of it. However, whereas Tony tends to have some resemblance of a method to her antics, Jason just enjoys being included. They also are both quite fond of Janet, as she was the first person to be truly nice to them (Tony also enjoyed climbing on her, to which she had no objection). While they do have the tendency to get into childish fights over things like sharing, they have an odd, yet close bond. She had a rocky start with Chidi and Tahani however, as Chidi was horrified by her glaring lack of ethics, and Tahani was put off by her eccentricity. Tony didn’t mind Chidi all that much, in fact she somewhat enjoyed freaking him out with her antics. She was a bit rigid towards Tahani though, as she sensed Eleanor had something of a rivalry with her (going as far as to push Tahani away from her during the party in S2E1 when she snatched her sash, causing them both to topple the decorations and light the place on fire). In fact, the one person Tony ever considered basing anything around was Eleanor. If Eleanor wanted something, she’d get it for her. If Eleanor objected to the group’s plans, she was right behind her. Over time, she became used to Tony’s antics, perhaps finding them endearing.
Tony was never afraid to stand up to Micheal, and backed Eleanor when she didn’t trust him at first. In fact, she seems to have no more respect for any demon or angel than her friends. This was especially apparent with Trevor in season one, whom she protested greatly against on taking Eleanor to the Bad Place. She tried various things to get him to go away, including barking at him and flashing him. However, when it was found that Micheal helped them out, she gained a slight respect for him.

but what if kara was an accidental demon that mike/mon-el tricked into giving up her humanity. lena and the luthors as the head of the bad place. lena is tasked to breaking kara into believing she's really in the bad place.
definitely an intriguing spin on it

omg awesome! cause I was reading the other fics and thinking about how Trevor shows up again on Earth during the brainy bunch bit in s3 and how that would work with reader who's once again been memory wiped
A Hell Of A Good Place - Part Four (Links for Part One, Two and Three)
Tumblr media
He found you once more, in the Bad Place’s museum of all the places, and he couldn’t even begin to explain the emotions of relief, happiness, and excitement that rushed through his chest the moment he held you in his arms. But then, you were gone... again. Jumped through the portal that led you and your friends directly to the judge, and he had to watch you leave with a heartache he’d never thought he’d feel again; hell, that he’d never thought he’d feel ever. But you had to go; it was your only chance at redemption, your only chance out of an eternal doom, and he could only hope that it would work.
You asked him to follow them, to beg the Judge to give him a redemption of some sort too, like Michael was hoping for. But he couldn’t. Partly because he doesn’t believe he deserves one, partly because he quite enjoys his job in hell, partly because the thought of begging anyone makes him want to puke. No, he’s good right where he is, and he agrees with his boss when it comes to what your friends’ fate should be; he just... doesn’t agree when it comes to you.
A year passed since the last time he saw you, a year that you’ve been spending continuing your life on Earth, completely memory swiped. He spent that entire year stuck inside a cocoon, Shawn not wanting him to jeopardize his coworkers’ work in the slightest. As much as he likes to accuse his boss of being an idiot, Shawn’s decision might have been the brightest... ‘cause Trevor would definitely have messed up his coworkers’ work at any chance it would get. Anything if it meant you had all of your chances at a good afterlife.
He gives out a sigh, his hand boringly pushing an empty cup of coffee over as a way to distract himself. If there was a way for him to join you down on Earth, he would do it... even if he had to make you fall for him all over again.
“Will you stop sulking for one minute?” Shawn’s voice brings him back to reality, the superior demon sending him an annoyed look. “I can bring you back in the cocoon at any second.”
Trevor gives out a hard smile. “Then what are you waiting for?”
Shawn squints his eyes at him, his annoyance only increasing. “As much as it tortures me to say so, I need you for something.”
Trevor rolls his eyes, laying his back further against the chair as he lay his legs on Shawn’s desk. “Whatever you want me to do, I’m not doing it.”
“Really?” Shawn quirks an eyebrow, a hint of an idea in his eyes. “What if I say I’d let you get something in return?”
Trevor’s ears perk up at those words, his eyes looking back at his boss with a certain interest in them. “... "Like what?”
“Like that human you’ve stubbornly decided to love-ugh.” A shiver runs down Shawn’s spine, his head shaking. “I hate that word.”
“You’d seriously let me have her?” Trevor ignores his boss’s antics, his body approaching the desk with a suspicious look on his face. “What’s the catch?”
“There’s no catch, unfortunately.” Shawn’s face falters into a boring one, his body stiffening with each word that comes out of his mouth. “If you get the five humans back in the Bad Place, (Y/N) is yours to torture for the rest of eternity... using whatever methods you wish to use.”
“Huh.” Trevor’s lips stretch into a wide grin, his eyes sparkling with an evil glint in them as he licks the inside of his cheek. “What do you need me for?”
Shawn gives out a satisfied grin as soon as he hears those words.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“So, this is our MRI machine-” Simone stops in the middle of her sentence, her eyes widening when she sees Jason approaching his index finger to a particular button. “Oh! Don’t touch that. Um...” She gives out a smile when Jason easily listens to her, her eyes turning towards the other three subjects of her study. “Each of you will get a chance in here eventually. Hopefully, none of you is claustrophobic...?”
She says those last words with an interrogation mark in her eyes, waiting for you and your friends to give her an answer. You open your mouth to answer, but Jason speaks up before you have a chance to.
“Claustrophobic? Why would anyone be scared of Santa Claus?” His eyes spark up with realization a few seconds later, an ‘oh’ sound coming out of his mouth. “Oooh...! The Jewish!”
Eleanor quirks an eyebrow at that answer, a light of recognition in her eyes as she approaches her face to his. “You from Florida?”
Jason turns his head towards her with an impressed look, his lips stretched into a wide grin. “Jacksonville!”
The blond woman gives out a proud grin. “Yeah.”
“Um, that should be fine for me.” Tahani interrupts their convo to answer Simone’s question, her lips stretched into a known smile. “It’s roughly the same size as Nicole Kidman’s cryogenic anti-aging chamber, and I’ve never had a problem in there.”
“Yeah, I’ll be okay, too.” Eleanor tries her best to shrug off Tahani’s comment about her luxurious star’s life, her hands gently touching the MRI with a grin on her lips. “It kinda reminds me of the home-tanning booth I lost my virginity in.”
You blink a few times upon hearing those words, having not expected to have that kind of image in your head so early in the morning.
“What about you, (Y/N)?” Simone’s voice brings you back in reality, her head tilted at you with wonder. “Are you okay with going in the MRI?”
“Oh! Yeah, totally.” You give out a nervous chuckle, feeling your cheeks flush with embarrassment as you unconsciously cross your arms over your chest. “I got no problem getting trapped in there. I bet it’d be like lying down in a coffin. Might as well get used to the feeling now.”
“... Wow.” Simone’s lips stretch on her cheeks, her eyes turning towards Chidi with excitement. “I can’t wait to take a look at these four brains.”
“Oh! Forgot to mention. There’s... one more person who will be joining us.” Chidi bites his bottom lip for a moment, his mind trying to remember details of something specific. “Seems like a really interesting guy. He was almost run over by a train a few months ago, heard about the study, and emailed me last night.”
Someone knocks at the door just as he finishes those words, your head turning towards the room’s entrance as Chidi goes to welcome the new addition.
“Oh, yes! Come on in!” The professor gives out a bright smile as he puts his hands on the newcomer’s shoulders, soon showing him off to all of you. “Everyone... this is Trevor.”
You can’t help but tilt your head in wonder when you see the guy, his hair slicked back as he seems to have his gray shirt plucked in his pants. He gives out a bright yet nervous smile to you and the group, one of his hands holding tightly onto a green bag.
“Hey, guys!” His expression seems to soften when he looks at you, his voice coming out in a friendly tone. “It is so great to meet you.”
His smile widens when you and the others greet him back, his eyes not able to look away from your face.
He finally found a way to get back to you, and he’s never going to let anyone take you away from him again.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Who wants lemon bars?” Trevor sings those last two words as he shows off a plastic box filled with the mentioned desserts, you and the rest of your friends now settling down in the research room with Chidi and Simone. “It’s my Nana’s recipe, and they are just sinful. Love ‘em on my lips, but hate them on my hips, if you know what I mean.”
“Oooh, I love lemon bars! Gimme some!” You immediately grab a lemon bar out of the box, almost immediately shoving one into your mouth. “Ugh, gosh! How are these so good?”
Trevor’s lips stretch into a wide grin after hearing your comment, his eyes softening as he looks at you. He really missed these little moments with you; he’d almost wished you two were back in the Bad Place, blissfully living your lives as soulmates while his coworkers tried to torture you and your friends.
“You’re (Y/N), right?” He gently points at you as you finish your dessert, your cheeks flushing red when you hear your name roll off his tongue. “Well, you got good taste when it comes to desserts.”
You finish gulping your last bite, your lips forming a small smile despite the upcoming embarrassment already rising up your throat.
“Not just for desserts.”
His grin turns into a smirk, his lips stretching, furthermore, onto his cheeks. There’s one of your many parts he adores: the teasing yet ever so ashamed of it you. It is both intriguing and adorable, and he cannot wait to experience all of the firsts in your relationship once more.
“Alright, new guy.” Eleanor interrupts his train of thoughts when she picks a lemon bar herself, her eyes filled with a teasing glint in her eyes. “Coming in strong with free dessert. If (Y/N) says she likes it, then I might take more than a few.”
A flash of anger runs through his eyes, memories of you and Eleanor being a little too close for comfort coming back to his mind in less than a few seconds. He almost let his hands fly to her neck in this instant, wanting nothing but to force her entry back into the Bad Place, but he manages to stop himself at the last second. Instead, he blinks his eyes a few times and transforms his expression into a thankful one, his lips forming a soft smile.
“You must be Eleanor, the reason this is all happening.”
“I am.” Eleanor gives him back a proud grin, the mere sight of it making his anger boil. “It’s so nice to hear someone say ‘Eleanor, you’re the reason this is happening’ who isn’t a judge in small claims court.”
Gosh, she so deserves to be in the Bad Place. Why did you go out of your way to save her the first time he met you? She clearly wasn’t worth your time nor your efforts. Who knows what would have happened if you hadn’t even befriended her? He bets Shawn would have let him torture you for eternity regardless, and you two would be getting your happy ever after without any memory swipe whatsoever.
He guesses this whole ‘make you fall for him again” thing is both a blessing and a pain in the ass.
“Thank you for this, Eleanor.” He puts his hand on the blond’s shoulder, his head slowly nodding as he imagines ripping her arm off her body. “It’s a wonderful thing you’ve done.”
“Well, to be fair...” Eleanor takes a gulp of her bite, one of her fingers pointing at you. “(Y/N) did help out with the whole idea. You wouldn’t even be here if she hadn’t suggested taking in more people for the study.”
“Well, then.” He turns his head towards you in a second, his soft expression becoming genuine. “Thank you, (Y/N).”
“You’re-” You get cut off when he wraps his arms around you into a tight hug, your arms awkwardly hugging him back. “-welcome... ha...”
He tightens his grip on you for a moment, his eyes closing as he tries to register this moment deep into his mind. Being trapped in a gooey cocoon for a year, he had almost forgotten how good it felt to hold you in his arms. He almost wished he’d never have to let you go... not again.
“Um...” You awkwardly pat his back, feeling the air being squeezed out of your lungs because of his hug. “... Are you okay?”
His eyes open wide just as he takes a sharp breath, his mind immediately taking him back to reality as he lets go of you.
“Sorry.” He gives out a chuckle, remembering that you see him as a stranger still and that you don’t like touching strangers, at least for too long. “I’m just... so happy to be here... if that makes sense.”
Your awkward expression rapidly turns to one of relief, your lips stretching into a genuine smile. “No problem. Just don’t try to squeeze the life out of me next time.”
His smile slightly turns into a smirk of irony, a few of his memories with you contradicting the very words you just pronounced; though, he rapidly loses when you seem to turn your attention back onto Chidi, mixed feelings rapidly swirling inside his chest.
Shawn’s offer was an opportunity to have you back in his arms (and forever, might he add), but it was also his boss’ way to see him suffer through this whole experience. He has you, but not really. He has to work from the beginning, again. Only this time he has to act like this… annoying dork whom he already knows you’ll try to avoid at all cost. This is his own Bad Place, and he should have thought about it more before he accepted his boss’s offer.
He forces a smile on his cheeks, his eyes settling on that annoying Chidi explaining further the process of his study.
Fuck, these next few weeks are gonna be boring as hell.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Trevor walks out of the room with his eyes glued to his phone, a wide grin on his face as he sends another horrifying meme to Eleanor’s phone number. He might not be able to be with you just yet, but at least he still gets to annoy the shit out of that blond while he’s down there.
“Trevor.”
He looks up from his phone just as someone spits out his name with venom, his eyes sparkling with recognize once he recognizes the demon standing in front of him.
“Hey, Mikey. Fancy seeing you down on Earth, completely illegally.” He gives out a grin as he takes in last boss’s new clothing, finding his hat quite hilarious. “Sweet outfit… Dick Tracy called; he said you’re a butt face, and he’s been plowing your mom.”
He never thought he’d also get to annoy the shit out of Michael, but hey, this is a nice distraction from all the mess Shawn put him in.
“Yeah, well…” Michael opens and closes his mouth a few times, trying to think of a retort to Trevor’s insult. “Dick Tracey called me too… first…! And he said he was about to call you and tell a lie a bout me… that was actually true about you…! Instead…”
Trevor squints his eyes at the gray-haired demon, slightly shaking his head in disappointment. This used to be the guy that was in charge of him and his colleagues? What the hell happened to his evil edge?
“Whatever.” Michael ignores the look of disappointment on Trevor’s face, making a small movement with his hand to dismiss the whole conversation they just had. “What are you doing here, Trevor?”
“Shawn hacked the Judge’s system, and we caught you cheating, getting your five little cockroaches to meet up.” Trevor quirks an eyebrow at him, more disappointed in the fact that he got caught than his little lies to the Judge. “What, you think we were just going to sit around in the Bad Place blowin’ beefers while you’re down on Earth boning us in the meathole?”
“Yeah, see, but that’s Shawn’s reason for you being here.” Michael looks at him with slight confusion, a glint of curiosity in his eyes. “But why are you here?”
Trevor’s smirk slightly falters down when he hears that question, his expression turning to a serious one as he glares at Michael.
“You know why I’m here, you ass.”
“… ah, (Y/N). Of course.” Michael claps his hands together, a known smile on his lips that pisses Trevor the most. “What? Shawn promised you’d be together if you helped him get the others back?”
Trevor crosses his arms over his chest, one of his hands holding tightly onto his phone as he tenses up. “Something like that.”
“Well, for the evilness being to ever exist, you’re a little naïve.” Michael shakes his head, his hat almost falling off because of that action. “You know Shawn’s never gonna give you that. You’re gonna get right back in that cocoon as soon his plan succeeds, and (Y/N) is gonna get tortured forever without even knowing who you are.”
Trevor gives out a chuckle, his lips stretching onto his cheeks. “You think I don’t know that? I’ve got my own plan, dickhead. As soon as this experiment fails, I’m grabbing (Y/N), and we’re both hiding far away from everyone, including Shawn and that Judge.”
“My plan is not going to fail!” Michael gives out an unreadable expression, his index finger pointing at Trevor accusingly. “When I did this experiment in my neighbourhood every time Eleanor asked Chidi for help, their bond became unbreakable! And the entire group improved!”
“No, you’re right…!” Trevor gives out a sad pout, his eyes filled with an evil glint in them. “There’s no way I’ll get one of these bozos to drop out of an unpaid, rigorous academic study, especially when they’re doing it with me, their overeager new best friend!”
“You can try anything, Trevor…” Michael rapidly loses his confidence; though, he tries to seem like he still has some. “It’s not gonna work.”
“Hm. Maybe.” The evil demon shrugs, his lips forming a grin. “But if plan A fails, I’ll just do plan B.”
“Plan B?” Michael quirks an eyebrow, panic appearing in his eyes. “What’s plan B?”
“Oh, you know, going back to my old ways and show my true colours.” Trevor’s smile stretches out, his face approaching his past boss. “How long do you think it’ll take for (Y/N) to follow me out of the study then?”
The gray-haired demon’s eyes widen as he realizes Trevor’s plan, knowing more than anyone how you would easily listen to him as soon as you fall for him. “You wouldn’t…”
“Guess you don’t know me that well, Mikey.”
Trevor lightly pats the gray-haired demon’s cheek before he takes a few steps back, intending to go back into the study room with you and the others.
“Well, I should head back… you wanna come with? Oh, right.” His teasing expression worsens, making Michael’s stomach twist with more worry. “They’ve all seen your face already, so you can’t show your face to them again, so you’re powerless to stop me… later days, dingus!”
Michael only stares at his back as he leaves, a dreadful feeling washing over him
They’re doomed.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Hey, gang!” Trevor walks back into the room with a bright smile on his face, his lips stretching out when he catches a glimpse of you turning your attention to him. “I just had a neat idea… let’s all go sightseeing!”
Jason gasps, standing up from his chair. “Dope!”
“We can check out Sidney, get to know each other, bond.” He reluctantly looks away from you to settle his eyes on an annoyed Eleanor, the blond trying her best to keep a straight face. “What do you say, E Street Band? Ya up for a Segway tour of…” He takes a pause to find his own very poor Australian accent. “… Australia, mate? This is a knife…! On the barbie…!”
“Cool idea…” Eleanor gives out a hard smile, her eyes squinted. “I’m just worried that maybe… it’s too cool? I think I’m just gonna find the nearest bar, have one or eight drinks and hit the hay.”
“Oh, a drink.” You give out a sigh, your lips pouted. “I so desperately need one. Or ten.”
“Even better! We’ll all go bend an elbow!” Trevor looks between the two of you, an idea popping into his head. “Actually, I know the perfect place for homesick Americans.”
And he knows you’re all going to hate it.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Hi, dudes!” An Australian waitress wearing a cowgirl outfit greets your group as soon as you enter the restaurant, your mind barely able to register everything that is going on inside that little place. “Welcome to the Cowboy Skyscraper Buffet!”
“Hey, can we get the Florida table?” Trevor’s question brings your attention back to the convo, the evil demon turning an excited look to you all. “They absolutely nailed the swamp stench.”
“Oh, someone’s seated there…” She gives you all an apologetic pout, not noticing the looks of relief on your faces. “But if you purchase our Manifest Destiny package for $30, you can have anyone you want forcibly removed from the table.”
Eleanor gives out a horrifying face, not even sure if she’d enjoy this kind of place. “We’ll just sit anywhere.”
The waitress gives out a grin, taking out a gun. “When your table’s ready, this gun will go off!”
She hands the weapon to Chidi’s hands before she walks away, the professor’s face faltering to an expression of pure fear as soon as he notices its heaviness. “I think… this is real…!”
A gasp escapes Tahani’s lips as she and the rest of you take a few steps back, Chidi unable to know what to do exactly with the gun. As he struggles to put it back on the welcoming counter, you unconsciously reach for Trevor’s arm, your fingers holding onto his shirt’s sleeve tightly as a way to comfort yourself. He gives out a known smile at the action, looking at your terrified expression from the corner of his eyes.
Maybe he’ll use plan B before plan A fails.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“So, listen up, y’all.” Trevor speaks right as you put your bag down next to your chair, everyone else rapidly looking back at him a few seconds later. “I was so excited to join the group that I… made… sweatshirts!”
He proceeds to take a couple of the said sweatshirts out of his bag, throwing a couple of them at you all while you and Eleanor share a quirked eyebrow from across each other.
“You get a sweatshirt!”
“Oh, wow…” You look down at the design on the fabric, internally wondering how he got this particular picture of you to put on there. “These are… our faces.”
Chidi shows off the design from his place, reading out loud the words Trevor chose to put on there. “The Brain-y Bunch.”
“Awesome! I love being on teams!” Jason immediately puts the sweatshirt on, an excited grin on his face. “And if we’re on a team now, we need nicknames.”.
He starts to point at each and every one of you, saying out loud a different kind of nicknames.
“Um… Megatron!” Jason chuckles, putting his hands under his sweatshirt to warm them up. “That’s what you can each call me… now we need nicknames for you guys!”
“Ah, this is the best!” You jump up when Trevor roughly wraps his arm around you, bringing you for a tight side hug as he screams. “I’m gonna get the first round, and we are all gonna toast to (Y/N), the reason we’re all here! Yay, (Y/N)!”
You give out a nervous chuckle as the rest of the table cheers along with Trevor, unaware of Eleanor squinting her eyes in jealousy at the whole thing. The blond bites the inside of her cheek, feeling like everyone suddenly forgot that she’s the one who got them all here in the first place… but she manages to give out a hard smile nonetheless.
“Yay, (Y/N).”
“Hey, Pretty Smile.” Trevor whispers out that nickname to you, a strange glint in his eyes as he tilts his head at you. “Don’t get all guilty all up in your head, all right? You deserve this.”
A strange sense of Deja Vu takes over you as you take in his words, your head tilting at him in wonder. “How did you know-?”
“Well, if you guys are celebrating, I recommend the jalapeno poppers.” A familiar voice comes to Trevor’s ears, his expression faltering as soon as he takes in the sight of their new waitress giving him a hard glare through her smile. “Hi, there. I’m Janet. I’ll be taking care of you tonight.”
The demon tilts his head at her as he gives out an impressed smile; he had completely forgotten about Janet, that robot ladylike thing Michael stole all those years ago. If they play their cards right, they could definitely ruin Shawn’s plan of getting these five back into the Bad Place.
Unlucky for them, Trevor has played this game a thousand times already.
“There you go.” Janet gives out the menus, her smile becoming genuine as she exchanges a few looks with you and the others. “Can I get you started with some drinks? Our specialty cocktail tonight is the 4th of July. It’s half an apple pie, blended with Southern Comfort and Coca-Cola, served in a Chevy hubcap.”
Trevor gives out a grin, his arms still unconsciously resting on the back of your chair in a protective manner. “Why don’t you just go get us a round of beers?”
“Of course! Here you go.” She gently puts her hands up in front of her body, her smile faltering once she realizes that nothing’s popping out of nowhere. “… sorry. I… will go physically pick those up, I guess… and… then walk them back here… with my… feet.”
You and your friends share a silent look of awkwardness, not quite sure why the waitress is putting those weird tone accents to her words. Trevor, on the other end, only seems to be enjoying the celestial being’s struggle, his lips stretched onto the farthest ends of his cheeks.
“But just so you know, I will be here all night…” Janet takes a look at Trevor, her tone taking a threatening tone. “… watching everything that you order.”
Those words are enough to make Trevor lose his grin, the rest of you completely confused about the weird atmosphere taking over your table. It doesn’t take long for Janet to walk away to get your first round of drinks, the demon taking in a breath before he turns his attention back to the table.
“So, Ellie baby, brainstorm.” He accidentally lets out some of his true colours through his words, gaining a disgusted look from the blond of the group. “We should get a house! Me, you, Tahani, Jason, (Y/N)… We should all go in together on a place! Roomies!”
Jason takes a sharp breath in, excitement all over his face. “Roomies!”
“Um…” You raise an eyebrow, a nervous smile on your face. “I kind of… already have my own place.”
“Then we move in with you!” Trevor gives out a brighter grin, ignoring the sigh coming out of your lips as he and Jason share an excited look. “I think it would be super fun. We could play pranks on each other…”
Eleanor shakes her head as she looks at the menu. “No.”
“… for my vlog.” He gasps, his eyes turning towards the blond woman. “We could do one of those bucket challenges that…”
She looks up at him with an annoyed look. “I don’t think so.”
“… sent you! Or maybe just a Harlem Shake? I learned to cook and I have been…”
“Please, stop.”
“… dying to experiment with…”
“Please stop now.”
“Jamaican food, man! I like the Jamaican food! Listen to the reggae and smoke the joint!” He notices the few unsure looks around the table as he speaks in a very offending accent, his head nodding as he gives out a proud look. “That’s a Jamaican accent.”
Eleanor stares at him for a long time, then she silently goes back to read the menu to showcase her annoyance towards him. Trevor gives out a grin at that; oh, does he love to make her mad. He almost loves it more than he loves you.
“I’m so glad you came out with us, man!” The demon violently shakes Chidi’s shoulder, ignoring the painful smile spreading on the professor’s lips as she does so. “I just assumed you would think it’s unprofessional to be friends with the subjects of your study.”
Chidi scrunches up his nose in surprise. “No, I never thought that!”
He takes a few seconds of silence to register the words they just exchanged, a worried look taking over his eyes.
“I mean, I kind of do now… Should I not be socializing?”
“I’m sure it’s fine. I mean…” Trevor tries to hold in his smirk, already seeing Chidi’s usual spiral of uncertainty taking over his mind. “… how much harm could it possibly do?”
“… Good point.” Chidi slowly nods, his hands rapidly closing the menu as he stands up. “Such a good point, that I’m gonna go to think about how good of a point that is, over there, by myself, for several minutes. Excuse me.”
A proud look takes over Trevor’s face as he watches the professor walk away with sweat on the back of his neck, his attention rapidly turning towards Eleanor barely holding it all in.
“Hey, El-Train, you think with all these new Star Wars movies, they’ll finally make a new Spaceballs?”
She glares at his hands randomly throwing bits of popcorn into the air, his mouth failing at catching of them. “I’m sorry, I’m getting a text, and I have to get this.”
She doesn’t waste another second before grabbing her phone on the table and walking away, harsh words about the demon already pouring out of her mouth on her way out. Trevor’s lips stretch even more onto his cheeks, which is enough to make you quirk an eyebrow at him.
Why does he look like he’s so happy she’s leaving?
“Okay, everybody!” Janet interrupts your thoughts by walking back with a couple of beers, the celestial being gently putting down your drink in front of you and the others as she speaks. “Here are your beers… and here is yours-”
She seems to be purposely dropping half of the beer’s content directly into Trevor’s shirt, the demon looking down at the wet stain with a slightly surprised expression.
“Oh, no!” Janet speaks up with a worried pout, a proud glint in her eyes. “I guess you should go to the bathroom… or maybe go home and never come back.”
“No worries. I made extra sweatshirts.” Trevor gives back a grin, Janet’s expression genuinely turning to one of pure worry as she slowly steps away. “Besides, we’re having too much fun to leave! Hey, speaking of fun…”
He turns his attention towards Tahani and Jason seating across from him and you, an idea taking over his eyes.
“I know this super-fun drinking game we could play.” He raises his index fingers and points at them both, his lips stretching into a knowing grin. “Every time one of you say something that the other can’t relate to, you both drink!”
You frown as you take a sip of your own beer, already knowing that this game is not going to end well for neither Tahani nor Jason. “I’ll pass.”
“Why not? It could be fun.” Tahani gives out a small smile, turning her attention to the young man sitting next to her to try and bond. “I once played a drinking game with Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively at their macrobiotic farm with a particularly robust batch of homemade kombucha.”
She ends her words with a wink towards your way, thinking you’ll somehow relate to her story, only for you to blankly stare back at her in pure silence.
“Um…” Jason looks back at Trevor with wonder, confusion over his features despite his wide smile. “Do I have to drink for every word I don’t know?”
Trevor has to keep an evil chuckle in. “Up to you. Just drink.”
He picks up his beer and clings it with Jason’s, his eyes turning towards you as soon as Jason starts to drink heavily.
“You sure you don’t wanna play, Pretty Smile?”
That same sense of Déjà Vu takes over you, your frown worsening when you notice Tahani gulp down her entire beer after Jason said something. “… not really my kind of game.”
“Well, if that’s not your kind of game…” He slowly approaches his beer to his lips, his words coming out in a whisper before he takes a sip. “… what games do you like?”
“The classic ones, I guess.” You gently tilt your head at him, the feeling of Déjà Vu growing even more inside your chest. “By the way… have we met before?”
The beer gets stuck inside his throat as soon as he hears you say those words, a set of coughs soon coming out of his mouth as he tries to take a hold back on his breathing. “What?”
“Sorry.” An apologetic smile takes over your lips. “I’ve just been feeling like I’ve met you before. Like in another life or something.”
He stares at you for a few seconds, a dumbfounded look all over his features, until he finally seems to realize the question you’ve just asked him.
“Um… no.” He gives out a small hard smile, trying to hold in the excitement of you possibly remembering your past lives together. “I would have remembered meeting someone as pretty as you.”
A rush of heat takes over your cheeks in an instant, your eyes looking away so you can drown your embarrassment into a sip of beer. “I’m not that pretty.”
He gives out a fond smile as he looks at you. Gosh, this reminds him of the very first time you two drank together. You had such fun talking and joking together, albeit it would have been more fun if Eleanor had left earlier than she did… just like it would be much more fun if Tahani and Jason weren’t overly getting drunk just on the opposite side of your shared table.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
You give out a chuckle at something Trevor says, your body becoming more and more relaxed the longer you two talk about anything and everything. He’s actually very interesting when he’s not trying to win over everyone’s friendship with meaningless memes and random sayings; he even seems to have a side of mystery to him, which makes you even more interested than you’d thought you’d be. Maybe that’s why he feels so familiar to you?
Trevor can feel the excitement overcoming his being the longer the seconds passes, his eyes taking in each change in your soul as you speak with him. His plan was working; you were slowly falling all over for him. Soon, he’ll be able to convince you to get out of this study, and once you do, he’ll reveal you the whole truth about who he is and take you out of the Judge’s sight for as long as he possibly can.
“Does anybody want a gallon of water to sober up?”
You jump up at the sound of Janet’s voice, looking up towards her to see a hard smile on her lips. That’s when you notice Tahani whispering unintelligible things with her head nuzzled in Jason’s neck, the DJ smiling brightly with even more excitement than he has ever showcased before.
“No, thanks, sweetheart.” Trevor speaks to her just as he types something in his phone, his head making a quick movement towards your two friends. “I just called a car for these two lovebirds, so why don’t you just bring us the check? Oh! And…” He looks up at her, a teasing grin on his lips. “You should smile more. You’ll get bigger tips.”
Janet gives him a glare before she walks away, your own eyebrow quirked at that last comment he threw at her. “That was not necessary.”
“I know.” He looks back at you with the same grin, his eyes showcasing some of his evilness. “I just like to annoy people.”
Somehow, you’re not even remotely surprise by that answer, as if you were expecting it… or rather knew it. How is it that you always seem to know what he’ll say or do whenever he act genuine?
“Sorry, I…” You put down your drink and pick up your stuff before you stand up, giving him and your two friends an apologetic look. “It’s getting late, so… I’m gonna go home.”
A rush of disappointment takes over Trevor’s chest as your two friends complain and whine, the demon losing his smile in a second as he tries to think of a way to make you stay longer. “But… it’s Trivia Night…?”
“I’ll play another time.” You make a head movement towards Tahani and Jason now fully snuggling. “Make sure they go home okay for me, alright?”
He barely has time to open his mouth that you’re already walking away, leaving him alone with his need to spend all of his time with you. He gives out a sigh, a look of pure frustration taking over him.
Fuck, it’s so hard to be patient.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Trevor opens the door of his toilet cabin with an unreadable look on his face; though, a laugh rapidly comes out of his mouth when he takes in the sight of Janet and Michael blocking the bathroom’s exit.
“Oh, guys,..” He approaches them with a wide grin, loving to see the desperation on their faces. “Don’t you buttnecks ever give up?”
“No.” Janet frowns, confusion in her eyes as she stares at him. “And what are you even doing in a bathroom? You’re a demon. You don’t… need it.”
“I like the smells.” He shrugs, his smirk stretching onto his cheeks as he gives them a wink. “And I like putting my hands in the toilet, so everything I touch gets a little poop on it.”
Both Janet and Michael give him a look of pure horror, which is enough to bring another laugh out of him.
“Oh! You guys see what I did out there?” He points towards the exit, a proud glint appearing in his eyes. “I am so good, I got Eleanor to leave a bar early. Chidi’s melting down, Jason and Tahani just left together… if they hook up, she’s on the first private jet out of here. And (Y/N) and I just bonded.” He chuckles, slightly shaking his head at Michael almost in disbelief. “This was too easy!”
“It’s gonna take a lot more than that to break up this group.” Michael approaches the evil demon, fake confidence over his features. “Why don’t you give up, Trevor? As long as we’re here, you’ll never succeed.”
“Hm. Maybe.” Trevor gives out a pout of wonder, his head tilting at them. “But how long will that take? I mean, at some point, the Judge will find out that you’re not in your little room watching ticker tape. Right? Tick tick tick tick!”
Michael and Janet share a silent look filled with worry, both of them knowing that Trevor was telling the truth. Sooner than later, they’re gonna need to go back. And Shawn’s plan (or at least, Trevor’s plan) will most likely succeed.
“But, hey… may the worst demon win.” Trevor gives out a smile, stretching his hand towards the gray-haired demon in a surprising moment. “Good luck, Mikey.”
Michael gives out a sigh, his hand reaching out towards Trevor’s and roughly grabbing it to give it a handshake.
“Ah! Poop hands!” Trevor points at him with his free hand, a wide grin on his face as he watches Michael pull his hand back with disgust. “I can’t believe you fell for that! Anyway, later dinguses!”
He walks past them to get out of the bathroom, his smile faltering into a hard look.
No matter what Michael and Janet throw at him, his plan will succeed.
Nothing’s gonna stop him from getting you back.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“I got it!”
Eleanor gives out a laugh of disbelief right as she says those words, the mere tone of her voice bringing the fighting between you and the others to an abrupt stop. Michael and Shawn share a confused look when she gives them a hard grin, her eyes soon turning towards you and your friends.
“This isn’t the Good Place, guys… this is the Bad Place!” She points at Michael and Shawn, her lips stretching onto her cheeks. “They’ve been making us torture each other this entire time!”
When an evil laugh escapes from Michael’s mouth, your hand unconsciously reach out for Trent’s arm, your fingers holding tightly onto the sleeve of his jacket. The evil demon’s lips stretch into a large grin as soon as he feels your touch, his eyes looking down at you with a strange glint in them. You feel your heart drop when you notice the look on his face, a dreadful washing over you as you realize the gravity of Eleanor’s realization.
“Surprise, Pretty Smile.”
You give out a scream as you wake up in your bed, sweat all over your forehead as you hold onto the memories of that awful nightmare. It was such a strange dream, having all of your friends there, including that waitress you met today and that ‘Michael’ guy you’ve crossed paths with months ago. Even though it was all a nightmare, you couldn’t quite shake the feeling that it was holding answers to unknown questions of yours. As if… as if you’ve already lived through this once, or rather multiple times.
You shake your head, a sigh escaping your lips as you lay back onto your bed.
Let’s not let a silly nightmare take your sleep away.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Trevor tries his best to not roll his eyes at Jason, his lips forming one of his fakest nice smiles he can possibly give. “This is the best secret-friendship handshake, bro.”
“Attention, everyone.” Tahani walks in with sunglasses on her face, her arms holding a bunch of letters on top of a folder. “Do not look at me.”
“Oh, well…” Simone blinks a few times, her eyes looking down at the table with an unsure smile. “I don’t know what to do…”
“I am both overhung and humiliated by my uncouth comportment last night.” Tahani takes off her sunglasses in one sweep movement, her lips forming a pout as she tries to keep her composure. “Please accept these formal letters of apology.”
She walks around the room, handing the letters first to Chidi and Simone standing next to the board before handing two mores to Jason and Trevor sitting at the table.
“Further apologies for their appearance.” She sits down to the chair next to Jason, a sigh escaping her lips. “I just couldn’t find a proper calligrapher at five in the morning.”
Trevor’s lips stretch out when he takes in the look of embarrassment on both Tahani and Jason’s faces, his tongue slowly licking the inside of his cheek before he speaks up. “So, what happened to you two lovebirds last night, huh?”
The model slightly glares at him. “Frankly, it is none of your business.”
Trevor rapidly rises his hands in the hand as a defense. “Sorry.”
“… but Jason was a perfect gentleman last night.” Tahani’s words are enough to bring Trevor’s proud smirk to an abrupt shocked expression, the rich woman soon turning her attention to the DJ sitting next to her. “Thank you so much for getting me home safely. I wouldn’t blame you should you ostracize me for my boorish behavior.”
“You weren’t boring.” Jason gives her a bright smile, letting go of the pen he was using to draw random words on pieces of paper. “You were fun.”
Trevor tunes out the rest of the conversation, a rush of pure disappointment taking over him as he realizes part of his plan didn’t go like he thought it would. He did everything so these two would sleep together; yet, they didn’t? What the hell went wrong here?
“I’m here! I’m here!” You scream out those words as you run into the room, a look of panic on your face as you drop your bag in the corner and rapidly sit next to Trevor. “So sorry for being late, guys. I had nightmares all night, I barely managed to sleep.”
“Oh, no.” Chidi frowns in worry at you while the others give you looks of comfort, the professor tilting his head at you for a moment. “Were they that bad?”
“It was like the same thing over and over, but with slight changes.” You give out a sight, your next set of words making Trevor’s ears perk up. “The weirdest part, though, is that you were all in them. Well, except for you, Simone.”
The evil demon turns his eyes towards you under the surprised noises of your comrades, hope rapidly grasping its chest. “What were they about?”
“Well, we were like… in heaven, I guess? But then we learned we were actually in hell. Which was… nerve-wrecking… every single time.” You reach out for the pen Jason let go minutes ago, starting to play with it as you take a strange look at Trevor. “Even weirder thing, you always turned out to be a demon disguising himself as my soulmate.”
His fingers tighten their grip on the pencil he’s holding, his lips stretching into a wide grin as he tries to hold back his excitement. “How bizarre.”
But oh so wonderful that you’re remembering.
“I hope you’ll have enough energy for today, (Y/N).” Chidi claps his hands together, sending you a comforting smile before he turns his attention to the rest of you. “As soon as Eleanor gets here, we’ll begin.”
“Yeah, um… bad news, prof.” Trevor gently bites his pen as he speaks, giving Chidi a sad look. “Eleanor might not be coming. She bailed right after you did last night. Seemed like she was having second thoughts about being a part of the Brain-y Bunch, so…”
“Oh, well, that’s disappointing…” Chidi takes a moment of silence, his eyes blinking fast when he realizes something. “… in terms of how it affects the study. But…! We press on! Like professionnals…!”
Simone gives him a knowing smile as she types something on her phone, Chidi giving her back an innocent one before he turns towards the board. It doesn’t take him long before he turns his attention back on her, a look of pure hesitation on his face.
“Hey, do you think I should-”
“Yeah.” Simone nods, the simple exchange between them making Trevor quirk an eyebrow. “And I already called you a car because you should not drive. It’s outside.”
Chidi gives out a soft smile. “Thanks.”
Trevor bites the inside of his cheek, anger and frustration taking over his face as he watches Simone kindly lead Chidi towards the outside of the building.
Fuck. He hates when Michael is right.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!”
Those are the words Trevor mumbles under his breath as he carefully walks towards the bathrooms, his recent lair for the past few days for him to think of his plan. A plan which is all going down the drain faster than he anticipated. Not only did Jason and Tahani didn’t sleep together, but Chidi managed to convince Eleanor to come back to the study! That blond idiot was his safe boat, his lifesaver. She was the one thing in his plan he was a hundred percent sure succeeded. But now? Fuck, now, he’s back to square one!
Well, not exactly… it looks like getting closer to you once more managed to jig back some of your past memories. Frankly, they all appeared to you in the form of nightmares, and you probably only remember the bad parts… but you’re getting there! Maybe he won’t even have to explain to you why he’s getting you out of this study like he thought he’d have to do.
Trevor violently pushes the door to the men’s bathroom, having the intention of dumping his head under the sink to the cold water bring him some new ideas.
“Hey, Dick Tracy called.” The mere sound of Michael’s voice makes Trevor roll his eyes in annoyance, too tired to even have any sort of conversation with his old boss and the good Janet. “He said that I was right about Eleanor and Chidi having an unbreakable bond.”
Trevor squints his eyes at him. “I don’ think you understand how that joke works.”
“Yeah, that doesn’t matter.” Michael dismisses his words with a simple movement of hand, his head already shaking as he gives out a grin. “We won. That’s the point.”
“You won squat.” The evil demon crosses his arms over his pale blue polo shirt, his teeth grinding at the thought of even losing to the Bad Place traitor. “I’m gonna get my way eventually. I’ll just keep chipping away till one of them bails. And guess what…!” A smile appears on his face as he approaches Michael’s. “(Y/N) even started to remember a few things… So I’m pretty sure I’m on the right track, here.”
“These five humans are all I care about in the universe.” Michael’s left eye twitches, his upper lip snarling up as he glares at Trevor. “And there is nothing, and I mean nothing, that’s gonna come between me and them.”
Trevor’s lips stretch out into a threatening grin. “Well, I’d like to see you try.”
Janet blinks a few times as she watches the exchange, an idea appearing inside her head just as she parts her lips. “What about (Y/N)?”
A silence takes over both demons, the two of them blinking a few times before turning a confused look to her. Michael seems to silently ask her where’ she’s getting at, but it’s Trevor that speaks up first as he sends her a glare.
“What about her?”
“Well, you care about her.” Janet points at him with her head before she tilts it, a look of wonder on her face. “You’d do anything for the two of you to be together, right?”
Trevor’s expression worsens. “Your point?”
“Well, you said she was starting to remember…” Janet bites the inside of her cheek, making some sort of grimace as she speaks. “How do you think she’s going to react when she learns you’re trying to ruin her and her friends’ chances at a good afterlife?”
“I’m not trying to ruin her chance.” Trevor rapidly approaches her, offended that she would even insinuate that he wants you to be tortured. “I’m trying to ruin their chances. Then she and I split and find our own happy ending far away from everyone!”
Michael gives her a wide grin from his place, silently sending her a thumbs up to encourage her to continue.
“That’s my point, Trevor.” Janet quirks an eyebrow at the evil demon, crossing her arms behind her back. “Do you really think she’ll be okay with the thought of her friends being sent right back to the Bad Place while she runs away freely?”
A lump comes up in his throat, images of your face showcasing hurt and betrayal as you look at him coming to his mind. He’s already seen it before, in a few retries of Michael’s experiment, but in the end, he could live with you hating him for a while. What he can’t live with, is the assured thing that your guilt will double, triple even. You’ll never be able to enjoy your afterlives together or let yourself be happy, not when you’d know your friends were sent to the Bad Place… all because of him, because he didn’t care enough about them to save them along with you.
Because he didn’t care enough about you to know you’d want them by your side, even if he hates them more than anything.
Trevor gives out a long sigh, giving both Janet and Michael a frustrated look. “You really had to hit me with that moral bullshit, didn’t you?”
The two acolytes share a grin, Michael giving him a hopeful look soon after. “So… does that mean you’re with us?”
“Only cause that’s what she would want.” Trevor crosses his arms over his chest, already hating the look of pure joy appearing on both of their faces. “And don’t you dare tell anyone I’ve gone soft, or I’m gonna kick both of you in the nuts-”
They all jump up and turn around in surprise when a door appears out of nowhere, fear spreading on their faces when they see the familiar silhouette of the Doorman coming out of it.
“Oh! Good. You’re all together.” He gives them a nice smile, relief taking over his features. “The Judge wants to see you.”
“… now?” Michael’s voice trembles as he speaks, Trevor giving him a quick look between him and the bathroom’s exit. “Right now?”
“Um…” Trevor points at himself, his face making an unsure expression. “Like all of us, or-”
“Yup.” The Doorman nods at him, his eyes soon looking around the men’s bathroom while the three celestial beings share a long look of fear and uncertainty. “So, this is Earth, huh?”
Janet looks between Michael and Trevor in silence, internally asking them what in the world they’re supposed to do now. Michael can only give her back a look of pure panic and despair, whereas Trevor simply shrugs as he seems, for one of the first few times in his eternal life, completely at loss at what he’s supposed to do.
“Oh!” The Doorman gives out a grin of excitement when he turns on a faucet, his eyes sparkling as he turns it off. “Pretty cool!”
Janet gives out a long sigh, her feet taking her first towards the door. It doesn’t take long for Michael and Trevor to follow her in, the Doorman taking a few seconds to wipe the water off his hands before he follows them last.
Trevor bites the inside of his cheek, a dreadful feeling taking over his chest.
This… is not good.

A Hell Of A Good Place (1/2)
Author’s Note: First time writing for The Good Place! This first part is basically everything that happens in the first version of The Good Place. Hope it’s not too bad... +++ I ADDED ANOTHER PART AT THE END
Pairing: Trevor x Reader; slight!Eleanor x Reader
Warning: Spoilers for season 1 and 2.
Word Count: 8936 words.
Summary: The story of how a demon named Trevor falls in love with you and tries to keep it a secret.
This is Part One - Part Two
Tumblr media
PART ONEThe first time you met Trevor was in the first version of The Fake Good Place.
You were accompanying Michael and Eleanor to the train station, holding your blond friend’s hand because you were forking scared for her. She tried to reassure you about her situation with small smiles, knowing for a fact that you were somehow blaming yourself for all of this, but you couldn’t help yourself. Eleanor Shellstrop was going to The Bad Place.  You had tried to convince Michael to reconsider your friend’s potential over and over again, but he had only sighed a couple of times at your sad expressions, staying silent for most of the walk. It’s when the train finally arrived that he seemed to somehow communicate with you, the eternal being making you and Eleanor stand behind him to protect you… and when the “demons” walked towards you three, you just wished they wouldn’t look like other humans.
Especially the hot guy who kicked a random chair on his way over.
“Hello, Trevor.” You hear the forced politeness in Michael’s voice, the attractive demon’s smirk stretching out as he sees him.
“Hey, there he is! Good to see you again, Mikey! Hey, think fast!” He throws a peanut can at the angel, not losing his smile one second. “I brought you something.”
“Oh.” Michael looks at the can to read the label, then slightly smiles at the demon. “Nuts… thank you-”
The man gasps in surprise when flaming snakes fly out of the can, also shocking both you and Eleanor while the demons laugh at your reaction. You feel the blond woman squeeze your hand in fear, now looking for the comfort you’ve been trying to give her for the last ten minutes. Michael only politely smiles at the unwanted guests and shows the empty can to them.
“Flaming snakes ate all the nuts you brought me.”
Trevor rolls his eyes and sighs in annoyance.
“You’re too nice to humiliate.” He then turns his gaze on Eleanor, a light appearing in his eyes. “Oh, hello!”
You feel your friend hide behind you and Michael, the blond probably sending the demon a suspicious glare as he points at her.
“You look like a piece of crap.” He smirks, probably enjoying this moment too much. “Are-are you Eleanor?”
You exchange a side look with the woman, none of you liking where this is going.
“Dude, you’re like a legend in The Bad Place! You’re-Check this out!” He unbuttons his black jacket to show a “Dress Bitch” T-shirt.
“Dress Biiiitch!”
Trevor seems to lock eyes with you for a moment, his smirk growing on his cheeks.
“It’s pretty great, right?”
You open your eyes wide at the sight, then shake your head at the eternal being, suddenly understanding who made these horrible T-Shirts back on Earth. Eleanor just looks at the demons with an ashamed look, the guilt of the events coming back to her. You squeeze her hand another time, silently telling her that you’ll stay by her side no matter what.
“Trevor…” Michael tries to stay serious, giving the demon a long look. “Do you know what caused this mistake? ‘Cause I cannot figure it out.”
“No, we’re stumped, but-” Trevor looks behind him for a moment to look at his companions before he turns back. “-don’t sweat it, champ. She’s definitely one of ours.”
No, she’s not!
Trevor looks at Eleanor and points at the train behind him.
“So we’ll just roll on out, and you can get back to… putting rainbows up your butt or whatever you do here. Okay?” He glances at your hand intertwined with Eleanor’s and he slightly loses his smirk, clapping his own hands two times. “Hey. Say goodbye to your fake soulmate here, sweetheart. We’ve got a long ride.”
“What?” Eleanor frowns at Trevor’s words while you feel your face get hot, the blond looking back at Michael with a dumbfounded expression. “You mean I have to leave right now?!”
“Um… Trevor!” The demon stops in his tracks to look back at Michael, already annoyed by the situation. “For decency’s sake, let her have some good-byes.”
Trevor points at you. “I thought that’s why her fake soulmate was here.”
“Oh, I’m not…” You feel flustered when all eyes turn on you, never liking to have the attention. “… I’m not her soulmate.”
“She’s my best friend, doofus.” You send Eleanor a smile, happy that she’s trying to salvage you from your own shyness.
“Trevor, please…” Michael puts his hands together in a somewhat pleading way.
“Arg…” The demon rolls his eyes again. “God, good people are the worst.”
You quirk an eyebrow at that, the guy looking at his watch in annoyance.
“Okay, uh… 30 minutes. We gotta go back to The Bachelor.” He points another time at Eleanor. “I’m gonna be pissed if I miss the Rose Ceremony.”
You try to imagine the demons watching The Bachelor with this passion, a hilarious and impossible scene in your head that you can’t quite believe that it’s true, which result in making you snort and getting once more everyone’s attention.
“Oh, I’m sorry, babe…” Trevor tilts his head at you, a weird vibe coming off of him. “.. is something funny?”
“Yeah, you’re fun-” You feel Eleanor crush your hand in hers to make you shut up, the blond probably trying to protect you from getting tortured by unwanted guests. “-I mean… no! Nothing’s funny.”
Trevor points at you. “No, something’s funny. You laughed.”
“I don’t think so. Or maybe I did? Who knows? I’m weird like that, haha. Do yo-”
“Okay!” Eleanor talks before you embarrass yourself more. “I’m gonna go say my goodbyes now. You’re coming (Y/N)?”
You don’t have time to answer that she’s already dragging you away with her, your face getting redder by the second. You two don’t notice Michael getting an high five from Trevor, the demons now starting to discuss important matters between them.
○°○°○°○°○°○
“This system is bull-shirt!” Eleanor zips up her bag and walks towards you and Chidi sitting on her couch. “There should be a medium place for people like me who kinda sucked, but in a fun chill way!”
Chidi sadly smiles. “I agree.”
“It’s my fault.” They both turn their attention on you, noticing the tears coming into your eyes.
“Hey, babe, no.” Eleanor drops her bag on the floor and takes your hands in hers, making you stand up. “You had absolutely nothing to do with this, okay? It’s not your fault I was a shitty person on Earth.”
“But still, I-”
“No, stop.” She points her finger at you, giving you a long stare. “Don’t let the mean voice get to you. You’re a great friend and I’m happy that I got to know you here.”
You sigh, letting it pass for now. “… okay.”
“Great.” She smiles sadly as Chidi stands up to, the blond looking between you two. “I’m sorry I dragged you two into this. I know you guys did everything to help me.”
She hugs Chidi first, telling him that he was a very good fake soulmate. When she turns to you to give you an embrace, you have to try your best to not cry.
“You were always too kind to me, (Y/N).” She pats your back, silently telling you that you deserve to be in The Good Place. “Promise me you’ll stand up for yourself a little, okay? I won’t be here to fight the others for you.”
You sadly laugh, letting her go.
“Okay, I promise.”
That’s when you hear knocking on the door, Tahani and Jason soon entering right after. Eleanor looks at them dumbfounded, not understanding why they would come here in the first place, but you and Chidi shares a knowing smile.
“What are you guys doing here?”
“Well, we only thought it was only proper to see you off.” Tahani walks over slowly, Jason closing the door. “It’s the neighborly thing to do.”
Eleanor realizes something and smiles. “You guys came to say good-bye because you’re my friends.”
“Well, I…” Tahani breathes, not really wanting to show friendship after feeling such betrayal. “… suppose some part of me possibly has a sense of casual kinship with you. Much as one might be fond of a street cat.”
The blond instantly hugs the gorgeous woman, taking her by surprise.
“Thanks, Tahani. Sorry about everything.” She frees the model, giving her a small smile. “I’m really glad we’re friends.”
“Hey, um…” You feel yourself blush when everyone turns their attention on you. “… do you mind if we follow you to the train station?”
Her smile stretches out. “I’ll be glad if you do.”
○°○°○°○°○°○
You all arrive at the train station together, Eleanor holding your hand again. None of you knows which one of you is trying to comfort the other one… but you like to think that it’s both.
“Oh, hey, dum-dum. You’re ready to go?” Trevor smiles when he sees the blond woman, but it stretches out when he sees Chidi and he points at him. “Oh, you must be Chidi. Trying to improve her. Bold plan, bro.”
“Well, actually, she learned a great deal in a very short amount of time-”
“Oh really? Really? I don’t care!” He claps his hands together. “Alright! Let’s hit it… Oh!”
He gets closer to Eleanor, showing off the bottom part of his own face.
“You should smile more. You women have such pretty smiles.”
“Fork you.” You snort at Eleanor’s outburst, the blond gaining confidence when she hears you.
“See? I was right.” Trevor points at you, making you stop laughing immediately. “Your friend here has a beautiful smile.”
You feel the heat hit your face like a rock, which makes the demon’s smile grow. Eleanor slightly pushes you behind her upon seeing this, giving the demon a threatening look. She’ll try to protect you until the end no matter what, and you appreciate that. But Trevor just grins and boops her nose, not affected at all.
“Love you, babe.” He puts his hand behind her back to guide her unto the train. “Can’t wait to torture you.”
He then proceeds to send you a wink behind her back, making you cross your arms on your chest in embarrassment. Once she’s on the train, Eleanor turns her head to look at you, and you try your best to send her a comforting smile.
As soon as she disappears from your vision, the voices come back to taunt you.
You don’t deserve to be in The Good Place!
You should be the one on that train!
It’s all your fault!
“I can’t stand this.” Chidi’s voice makes you come back to your senses just in time to see him leave. “I’m gonna go see Michael!”
You, Tahani and Jason watch him disappear towards the town, none of you knowing what you should do.
“Well, I guess Jason and I will go back to our home.” The model looks back at you and gives you a comforting smile. “Would you like to come with us, (Y/N)?”
“Thanks Tahani, but…” You look back at the train, then sigh. “I’ll stay here until Eleanor is really gone.”
“Oh, well…” You expect her to say her goodbye, but she instead nods and stays put. “I guess we can do that too.”
You give her a small smile, already knowing that she secretly didn’t want to miss Eleanor’s departure.
○°○°○°○°○°○
Fifteen minutes later, you feel your heart squeeze in agony as the train starts to leave the station, only to see Michael and Chidi arrive running with intense expressions.
“Stop that train!”
You watch with bewilderment as the train stops under Michael’s command, the eternal being hopping on it right after. You send a “what the fork is happening” look at Chidi, who just come to stand beside you and your other two friends, a small smile on his lips.
You can’t help but smile too when you see Michael get off the train a few seconds later, Eleanor following him. The blond immediately runs to you and hugs you, feeling the tears getting out of your eyes as you hold your best friend close to you.
“Wait, you wanna keep her!?” Trevor gets off the train right after, sending the angel an irritated look. “Bro, that’s our girl! We agreed on this!”
“No.” Michael shakes his head, not taking any of the demon crap. “What we agreed on was that this was a mistake. Trevor, we are in uncharted territory here. Until we can sort this out, she’s staying with us.”
Trevor breathes out angrily. “Alright, fine! But until this is resolved, we’re keeping the other Eleanor!”
Wait… what?
“Fine… what? I’m sorry…” Michael frowns. “The other Eleanor?”
“Yeah, the real Eleanor? The one who was supposed to be here but got sent down to us instead? She’s on the train.” Seeing that no one seems to believe him, Trevor rolls his eyes and turns to the train. “Eleanor! Come on out!”
A young woman wearing dirty gray clothes gets off of the train with a slightly scared look, all of you looking back at her with dumbfounded expressions.
“Hi, everyone, I’m Eleanor Shellstrop…?”
Trevor smirks proudly at everyone’s face, until you realize something.
“Wait a minute!” You frown angrily and point at him. “You guys were going to leave with both Eleanors without saying anything!?”
Trevor’s smirk grows. “Busted.”
“You motherforke-”
“Hey.” Eleanor takes your hand in hers, giving you a serious look. You slightly nod, biting down your own cheek to try to swallow down your anger.
“This is…” Michael shakes his head. “Let’s just try to solve this at my office.”
○°○°○°○°○°○
Why do you suck at forking everything?
“Hey! Ding-dongs!” Trevor snaps in fingers in front of your blond friend’s face, also getting your attention away from your bad thoughts. “We figured out what’s happened here.”
He then points to the two Eleanor sitting down in front of him and Michael, you, Chidi and the other demons standing behind them.
“You two are both named Eleanor Shellstrop.” Trevor talks to you all like you’re babies. “The day you died, you were both in Phoenix, Arizona, shopping at the same grocery store.”
Trevor then proceeds to make the sound of a long fart, clearly annoyed at the whole situation, while Michael sighs and continues the explanation.
“The “real” Eleanor was attending a conference on the death penalty, and you stopped by to pick up food for a local homeless shelter.” The new-founded woman nods. “And Fake Eleanor was there buying margarita mix and a magazine called, “Celebrity Baby Plastic Surgery Disasters”.”
You notice that Trevor has been looking at you with a bored look, his eyes lightening up once you meet his gaze. You quirk an eyebrow at him, wondering what he can possibly think, and he just smirks at you.
… so you decide to continue to listen to Michael instead.
“Incredibly, you both died in the same 10,000th of a second, in the same accident, because Real Eleanor was trying to save Fake Eleanor’s life by pushing you out of the way of the truck.”
Your blond friend turns to Real Eleanor with a smile.
“Guess you really botched that one, eh?”
“I did…” Real Eleanor gives her a guilty look. “And I am so, so sorry.”
“… it’s all good.”
“So…” Chidi squints his eyes, still confused. “How did you not realize you had the wrong Eleanor?”
“Oh.” Michael makes a small movement with his hands. “We don’t know what people look like, only name and profiles. On Earth, they’re just dots on a map.”
The eternal being then proceeds to show you all a hologram map with red and green dots on it, but Trevor sighs in annoyance again and crosses his arms on his chest.
“Yeah, whatever! We’ve got our wires crossed, we picked up the wrong dot, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” He catches you smile at his behavior, saving it in his head for later. “Point is, there are two Eleanors. The nice boring one is yours. The trash bag is ours!”
“Wai-”
“SO!” Trevor stands up and walks around the room. “Trashbag! Let’s go! Let’s hit it! And, also…”
The demon puts his hands on Eleanor’s shoulders, smirking.
“I’m still waiting on that smile, gorgeous.” The blond woman rolls her eyes at him. “Come oooon. Show me one of those beautiful smiles your friend keeps giving me.”
He hears you scoff in embarrassment behind him, which makes his smirk stretch out. Michael shakes his head at him, then tries to take control back on the situation.
“Trevor.”
“Where’s that smile?”
“Trevor, how about we negotiate? Give you something else?”
The demon sends him a bored look.
“What in the world could you have that we would want?” He shakes his head with a smug. “Mikey, unless you tell me that we can take another human instead of Eleanor, I’m not interested.”
You can’t help but feel like that is directed at you.
“All right, but.. how about a unicorn?” Michael awkwardly smiles. “Right? I bet you don’t have one of those.”
“Ah… that is true…” Michael laughs as Trevor’s smug turns into a creepy one. “Might be fun to skin it alive, eat its raw flesh… maybe break off the horn, grind it up, snort it… Okay, let’s keep talking… yeah… and can we also take the pretty human?”
He points at you without even looking, making you want to hide behind Chidi (which you kind of do). Michael looks at you for a second, confused as to why Trevor would want to take you.
“… no.”
“Awn, come on! I wanna torture her!” He pinches your cheek, making you step back from him in horror. “She has such a cute a face, I bet she’ll have great reactions!”
“No!” Eleanor gives him a hard look. “(Y/N) is a good person! You can’t take her!”
“Awn, bummer.” He snaps his fingers before he points at Michael. “You’re gonna need more than a unicorn to convince me, then.”
“I’m sure we can think of something… but for now-” Michael stands up from his place and awkwardly smile again. “-how about we show Real Eleanor the place she was supposed to stay in? Maybe even show her around town a little bit?”
“Yeah!” You instantly jump in on the idea, not liking that your life might be on the line here as you give the new-founded woman a large grin. “Let’s do that right now! Shall we?”
○°○°○°○°○°○
“Well, here’s…” Your blond friend gives out a small smile at Real Eleanor. “… your house.”
“It’s beautiful! I love Icelandic primitive design! I kind of wish it had a clown nook- oh!” She points at the clown paintings, her happy smile growing on her cheeks. “There it is!”
You feel someone flick your cheek, making you frown in pain, and you slightly turn your head to see Trevor smirking at you.
“What do you want?” His eyes light up when you give him attention.
“I want to see you smile again.” You roll eyes at him, looking away and walking towards your blond friend. “Come on, you’re pretty when you smile!”
“Here’s the bedroom.” Eleanor points to the bed up on the ledge as you come to stand beside her, not wanting to be near the somehow attractive demon. “It’s kind of hard to get up on this dumb ledge though, it’s like-”
She cuts herself off when Real Eleanor pushes a hidden button under the ledge, revealing hidden stairs right after. You gasp, your blond friend exchanging a long look with you and Chidi.
“You have got to be forking kidding me.” You snort at her words, the blond turning her head at you to send you a small smile. She takes your hand in hers, squeezing it a little to thank you for being her friend.
“Hey, Fake Eleanor!” Trevor’s voice takes everyone’s attention, the demon pointing at the paintings as he walks towards you. “We used this same clown painting to decorate the room you were supposed to live in down there! I swear to Bieber!”
You clench your teeth when he stops right beside you, tilting his head at your hand intertwined with Eleanor’s.
“Wait-” Chidi gives Real Eleanor a curious look. “What was your house like?”
“Well, I was living in what I assume is Eleanor’s worst nightmare.” Trevor nods at Real Eleanor’s words and slightly nudges you to listen to the story, which pushes you to continue ignoring him. “Everyday was basically one endless baby shower for a woman I didn’t know. But also, somehow, I had to organize it. And, if I didn’t remember everyone’s name, I got a very strong electric shock.”
“Yep, that was my pitch!” Trevor’s smug stretches out as he turns to you, trying to tell how proud of himself he is for that idea.
“And then, at night, it was pretty classic torture. Uh… flying piranhas, lava monsters, college improv, and there was always jazz music playing.”
“Ugh!” Your blond friend makes a disgusted expression and turns to you. “I hate jazz! Every jazz song is like forty minutes long! It’s like, we get it! You can blow on a trumpet! Wrap it up, Elton John!”
Chidi shakes his head. “Famously a piano player.”
You can’t help but laugh out loud at that, hiding your face with your free hand. You always do that when you laugh, not wanting the world to see you at your happiest. But despite that, Eleanor smiles at you. She just loves to hear your laugh, and she’s glad her behavior can make you feel happy.
“I bet I can make you laugh too.” You roll your eyes at Trevor’s whispered words, ignoring the thrill coming up your spine.
“I don’t mean to be a bother, but…” Real Eleanor smiles awkwardly from her place. “… could I possibly get some water and whatever food doesn’t turn to spiders in your mouth?”
“Oh!” Chidi shakes his head and smiles. “Of course! Let’s get some dinner!”
“Yeah, we’ll all go!” Trevor smirks, happy about his idea. “Perfect double date with a third wheel. Two losers, a trash bag, a demon and a Pretty Smile! Let’s hit it!”
He puts his arms around your shoulders and shuffles your hair, ignoring your personal space as you get your hand out of Eleanor’s to try and push him away from you.
“Well, I’m sure (Y/N) wouldn’t like to be a third wheel…” You somehow manage to get out of Trevor’s weird embrace, stepping back to hide behind your blond friend while Real Eleanor talks. “(Y/N), how about you invite your soulmate?”
You freeze, her words cutting your throat.
“Um…” You slowly move your head back at Real Eleanor, bad thoughts attacking you. “I-I d-”
“Hey.” Blond Eleanor turns back to you and squeezes your shoulders, trying to force you to concentrate on her. “You’re such an amazing person! You don’t need anyone to complete you, okay? Don’t listen to the lies in your head.”
“I don’t understand.” Real Eleanor frowns in confusion. “Are you saying-”
“(Y/N) doesn’t have a soulmate.” Blond Eleanor sends Chidi a hard look, which makes him stutter. “B-but we try not to talk about it.”
“Oh.” Real Eleanor gives you a guilty look. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean-”
“It’s okay.” You send her back a small smile. “I’m used to it now.”
“Well!” Trevor claps his hands together. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go get dinner, shall we?”
When he looks at you and gives you a smirk, you can’t help but wonder if you can find a way to get out of this horrible double date.
○°○°○°○°○°○
“Ah, man. This is gonna make a primo dump later on.”
You laugh while drinking your wine, and as if on cue, you start to choke on it. Your blond friend instantly pats your back to help you, Trevor’s smirk growing on his cheeks.
“Oh god, (Y/N)!” Real Eleanor puts her hands on yours from across the table, worried all over her face. “Are you okay?”
“I’m… fine…” Your coughs cease down after a few seconds, and you look back at Trevor. “You’ve been saying the most ridiculous things today, you know that?”
He slightly gets closer to you so he can whisper. “Told you I’d make you laugh.”
You feel your cheeks get warm and you avert your eyes, going back to eat your meal.
“Well, that looks delicious.” You look up to see that it’s Chidi pointing at Real Eleanor’s meal. “What is that?”
“Oh, it’s… Tom Yum Goong soup. It reminds me of when I was in Thailand rescuing victims of human trafficking.”
How many things has this woman done!?
“Oh, that sounds so good!” Everyone gives Chidi a weird look. “I mean, the soup, not the… Human trafficking.”
“Oh, and I think your grilled eggplants look so good.”
Chidi squints his eyes. “Should we…”
“Splitsies?” They both high five and laugh, making you and Eleanor give them a non-believable look while Trevor turns to your blond friend.
“I can’t believe you thought you could pretend to be Real Eleanor. She’s like a perfect ball of light, and you’re like a… wet pile of mulch.” Eleanor looks back at Trevor, sadness covering her eyes. “Someone made a person out of wet mulch and leaves and, like, dead slugs, and that’s you.”
You take your friend’s hand in yours, squeezing it to give her comfort as you smile.
“I think you’re a beautiful person.”
She instantly smiles back at you.
“You’re beautiful too, (Y/N).”
Trevor snorts. “Pretty Smile’s only saying that to make you feel better. You know that, right?”
“Whatever!” Eleanor loses her smile and sends the demon a frustrated look. “It’s easy when you’re just born perfect. My parents were both dirtbags who split up when I was eight.”
“I don’t mean to eavesdrop, but-” Real Eleanor tilts her head in thought. “-did you say your parents got a divorce?”
“Yeah, and that kind of thing really changes a person. I mean… that trauma…” Eleanor frowns, nodding at her own words. “It can explain away a lot of behavior.”
“Oh, of course!”
Blond Eleanor sighs with a small smile. “Your parents are still together, I guess.”
“Oh, actually, um… I’m not sure.” Real Eleanor smiles, going back to her memories. “I never met my birth parents. They put me in an empty fish tank and abandoned me at a train station in Bangladesh.”
Trevor groans in annoyance and turns to you.
“Another boring backstory. Ugh, so annoying.”
You smirk. “You mean like you?”
He pretends to be hurt by your words and you turn your attention back on Real Eleanor, the demon liking this bad side of you.
“Luckily, I was found and adopted by a very nice couple… the Shellstrop.”
Trevor continues to eat his dinner in boredom. “Oh, thank god.”
“But then they died when I was four.” You and Blond Eleanor share a shocked look. “Bird flu.”
“That’s awful!” Real Eleanor sends Chidi a small smile.
“Anyway, orphanage burn down, yadda yadda yadda… Made my way to America, yadda, yadda, yadda… Learned English from watching Seinfield, put myself through law school and… here I am!”
“Huh.” Trevor turns his head to Blond Eleanor. “And, I’m sorry, what… what did you say that happened to you? The same thing that happens to half of the kids in America?”
The demon laughs at Eleanor’s thought process and she frees your hand from hers.
“And for you to have gone through all that, and to end up where you did, it is just…” Chidi puts his hand on top of Real Eleanor’s, smiling. “It’s just amazing.”
“Oh man, these horn-dogs are vibing like mofos.” Trevor turns to you and your blond friend, smirking. “Am I right, Fake Eleanor?”
“Please stop calling me that!” You put your hand on her shoulder to calm her down.
“Oh.” A glint passes through Trevor’s eyes. “You got it, third wheel.”
“Easy, easy.” You stop Eleanor from jumping at the demon as he laughs, the blond looking back at you with anger.
“I swear, I’m gonna snap his neck.”
“And I’ll help you bury the body later if you don’t do it in public.” Your comment makes her snort, the woman already calming down.
“Thanks, babe.” She takes your hand in hers again. “You’re the best.”
“Ugh, stoooop.” Trevor rolls his eyes at your exchange. “You guys are not soulmates, stop acting like you are.”
Your cheeks burn again at the demon’s words, but Eleanor sends him a smirk.
“Why do you care? Are you jealous?”
You give your friend some wide eyes, but Trevor laughs, taking another bite of his dinner.
“Me? A demon? Being jealous of humans?” He continues to giggle just when the server arrives with the wine. “Yeah, that wine is no good. I’m sending it back.”
You and Eleanor just shares a long look, not sure what to think about his reaction.
“So, um…” You guys turn your attention to Real Eleanor. “Chidi tells me that he’s teaching you about ethics.”
“Yeah!” Blond Eleanor looks at Chidi for a moment. “Actually, we’ve had some interesting and in-depth classes. He taught me about Plato and Socrates, Immanuel Kant-”
“Yeah, cool, shut up.” Trevor points at Chidi. “Let’s cut to the chase here. You two go to Poundtown?”
Chidi frowns in confusion while you take another sip of your wine.
“Poundtown, bro. You two bang it out? She hot for teach?” You spit the wine right back in your glass, the others sighing in disbelief as Trevor turns to Eleanor. “Did you pork the dork? C’mon, girl, dish me dem dirty deets!”
“I assure you-” You notice that Chidi’s talking to Real Eleanor. “-our relationship was “teacher-student,” nothing more.”
“Chidi, you don’t have to explain anything to me.” Real Eleanor smiles, not bothered at all. “Whatever happened before I arrived is none of my business.”
“Then I guess you did it with Pretty Smile here.” Trevor smirks at you, but you simply roll your eyes and drink your wine again. “Huh? Is that what happened?”
Eleanor smirks back. “Wouldn’t you like to know, huh?”
You spit out your wine again, not believing what your friend just said.
“Can you guys let me drink my wine in peace?”
“Hey.” Real Eleanor turns to Chidi. “I’d love to see the rest of the neighborhood.”
“Um, yes! It’s incredible.” The man thinks for a second before he continues talking. “There’s an amazing library, there’s a beautiful, piranha-free lake…”
Real Eleanor chuckles. “Well, please, show me everything.” She turns to you and Eleanor. “You guys are ready?”
Eleanor shrugs. “I’ve seen it all already. You guys go ahead.”
“I’ll stay with you.” You finally take a proper sip of your wine. “I don’t feel like walking around.”
“You guys rather be alone…” Real Eleanor turns her head to Trevor. “… with him?”
“Fire in the hole.” You notice that his barefoot is on the table, the demon now cutting his toenails. “Watch your heads, ladies. My dudes tend to boomerang around the room.”
“Meh.” You continue to drink your wine, not even phased by what the demon’s doing anymore. “He’s not that bad.”
Trevor slightly looks up from his feet to look at you for a moment, the wine already making your cheeks red as your words echos in his head.
Why does he think you look cute right now?
“Yeah, and I mean…” Blond Eleanor tries to find an excuse to not go with Chidi and Real Eleanor. “I don’t need to walk around and nerd about old books. I’m good.”
Chidi nods a couple of times then looks back at Real Eleanor. “Okay… let’s go then!”
Both of them get up from their seats and leave the restaurant, leaving you and your blond friend with the still attractive demon. Eleanor sighs at him, before she looks back at you, a serious expression on her face.
“Wanna do shots?”
○°○°○°○°○°○
You feel like you’re about to die of laughter, your drunk mind somehow liking to hear about Trevor’s torture stories while Eleanor is plain dead on the counter. The demon puts his hand on your shoulder as he continues to talk, loving to see you laugh so much. That’s when the barman gives you all a new set of shots, Trevor taking one in his hand to drink it while he laughs.
“I lighted him on fire and he never spoke again!”
You try to stop yourself from laughing so hard, now putting your hand on his shoulder and pointing at him.
“You know what you should do?” You take a breath to try and calm down. “You should make a bunch of people that look like the ones he loved and admired, and then make them tell him that all his insecurities are true!”
“That’s such a great idea!” He smiles wildly, tilting his head at you in wonder.
“You know-” Eleanor suddenly perks her head up, expressing her thoughts and making you turn back at her. “-Maybe I’m not as great as the Real Eleanor, but I’m better than I used to be! I’m medium good!”
“Oh, yes, you are, gorgeous!” You put your arms around her shoulders, hugging her close. “I’m so proud of you.”
Eleanor blushes from your embrace.
“Thanks, babe.” She puts her head against yours, enjoying your hug for a few seconds before she sends Trevor a look. “Why haven’t you forkers invented a medium place?”
The demon rolls his eyes while he drinks his shot, putting his cup down on the counter.
“Look, I know you’ve been trying to become a “better person”- I mean you didn’t want to get caught. I get it.”
Seeing that you and Eleanor aren’t really listening to him, he takes your arms and forces you stop hugging her, ignoring your complaint noises as you take two other shots.
“But, I read your file…” He points at Eleanor, the blond glaring at him. “You don’t belong here! I mean she spent her weekends breaking up dog fighting rings! You once saw a meter maid writing you a ticket and you barked like a dog till she ran away!”
“Wait…” You turn to Eleanor, drunk clouds still in your head. “… really?”
She averts her eyes in embarrassment. “… yeah.”
“That is such a great idea!” She gives you a shocked look, noticing that you’re going back to your thoughts. “Should have done that at school! Man, why didn’t I think of that?”
“Yeah, yeah, hot stuff.” Trevor dismisses your words, handing you another shot. “Just drink this.”
You don’t even have the motivation to tell him that you’re not that drunk.
“I mean, honestly, you’ll be happier in The Bad Place.” Trevor seems to remember something. “I mean, don’t get me wrong, you’ll be miserable. We will torture you, but you’ll also be happier… because.. you won’t have to keep trying to fit in somewhere you just don’t belong!”
Eleanor exhales for a long time and notices your drunk state.
“All right!” She drinks another shot, preparing herself to stand up right after. “Let’s go, (Y/N).”
“Okay, hold on, I have to ask…” Trevor stops her from standing, giving her a long stare. “Is this gonna happen? You, me and Pretty Smile?”
“Whut?” You blink a couple of times, not sure to have heard that right.
“Ew!” Eleanor makes a disgusted face. “No, gross!”
“Okay, you know I had to ask, babe!”
“Okay, (Y/N).” Eleanor takes your arm in her hands and tries to drag you away. “Stand up, I’m taking you home.”
“Noooooo-” You resist her, grabbing the counter to stop her from taking you away. “I wanna stay here and listen to more torture stories!”
Trevor grins when the blond groans in annoyance at your behavior, but his smirk grows when she looks at him and points a finger accusingly.
“If you take advantage of her-”
“Don’t worry, sweetheart.” He tilts his head, stopping himself from laughing maniacally. “I’ll be a real gentleman.”
She just keeps staring at him, not believing him… cause he’s a demon, for fork sake!
“I swear, babe! If I even try something-” He points at everyone else in the room. “-one of these doofi will stop me.”
“… alright, fine.” She takes your head in her hands, making you look at her in the eyes. “(Y/N). If something happens, you go straight to my house, okay?”
“Understood, El’.” You give her a thumbs up. “I will not let you down.”
She’s not quite sure you understood her, but she walks away nonetheless… Well, she actually tells a few other residents to watch over you or else she’ll personally attack them… but still.
“So, Pretty Smile-” You turn your head at Trevor, noticing that he’s getting a normal drink this time. “How is it that you don’t have a soulmate?”
Luckily for you, the alcohol in your veins stops you from feeling hurt by the question, and you instead smile at him.
“Everyone tells me that it’s because I’m so awesome that I don’t need another half.” You shake your head, showing that you’re not believing that. “But I think it’s because… I’m broken!”
It’s Trevor’s turn to spit out his drink, not believing how you can say that with such happiness and excitement.
“Excuse me, what?” He points at you, blinking fast as he thinks. “Are you happy that you’re broken?”
“Oh, obviously not.” Your smile doesn’t go away from your lips while you steal his drink, continuing your explanation. “But I’ve accepted the fact that I wasn’t worthy of any love when I was eight, so this isn’t news to me.”
You take a sip of his whiskey, exhaling in pain from the harshness before you put it back on the counter.
“Well, well… you would have been such an easy challenge.” You watch him finish his whiskey. “I would have just put you alone in a room and you would have torture yourself.”
You giggle. “Yeah, that sounds like me.”
He tilts his head at you, watching the blackness in your aura trying to destroy the splash of colors. It’s fascinating how your own soul is constantly torturing itself without having anyone interfere. He wonders what you’re thinking right now… and since when you’ve been thinking those things.
You notice how he’s staring at you.
“Are you looking at my soul or something?” You grin, nudging his side. “Or are you thinking that I’m pretty?”
Your words take him off guard, the demon chuckling to defend himself.
“Why in the world would I think that, Pretty Smile?”
He takes one of the shots that are still standing on the counter, wondering why your grin is growing.
“You like me!”
He spits it out immediately.
“W-what?” He doesn’t like how your eyes light up. “No, I don’t!”
“Awwwn, you do! You really do like me!”
“I don’t!”
“You like me! You like me! You like-”
“Shhh!” He puts his hand on your mouth to stop you from screaming the words, not wanting his coworkers to hear you. “Shut up!”
He sees you trying to suppress a giggle, the demon taking his hand away from your face as he groans in annoyance.
“You’re a disgusting human and I’m an amazing demon. I. Don’t. Like. You. Do I need to say more?”
“Then why do you keep calling me “Pretty Smile”, huh?” He sends you a mean look, the man about to answer you when you continue talking. “You keep calling everyone else with mean names, but me? It’s always Pretty Smile. Oh! And why have you kept trying to get my attention all day? And why every time Eleanor gives me comfort, you try to get in the way? And why-”
“Oh my god, will you just shut up? I said I don’t like you!”
“But you like me!”
“If you continue saying this, I’m not telling you another torture story.”
“Huh-huh. Sure.” You point at him, your grin still present on your lips. “You’re just in denial. I know you like me.”
“Alright!” He takes a sip of another drink. “No more stories!”
“What? Nooo!” He feels you hug his arm, whining as you put your head on his shoulder. “I’m sorry! Tell me how you torture people!”
“No.”
“Please, please, please, please, please!”
“No!”
You hug his arm closer and he looks at you, your red puffy cheeks and your puppy eyes looking up at him and making him feel flustered.
“Trevooooor…. pretty please?”
He groans. “Promise you won’t say that I like you again?”
You free him, mimicking shutting your mouth as you smile wildly. He just rolls his eyes at your behavior, not able to stop his own grin.
“Okay. Here’s how I tortured this guy last week.”

“Hey. Wake up, sleepy head.”
You feel someone flick your forehead, making you blink a couple of times as you wake up. You open your eyes right after but instantly shut them and groan when the headache arrives, putting your hands on your face to help ease the pain.
“Fork that hurts!”
You hear a familiar chuckle, moving your fingers enough to see Trevor looking down at you with a smirk, also noticing that you’re sitting on your couch.
“We like hangovers, so we asked for the filter to be removed.” His grin stretches out as you somehow sit up, the demon having to stop you from falling unto the floor. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Trying to get some water.” You groan again, looking back at him in confusion. “What are you doing in my house?”
He chuckles. “You don’t remember?”
You quirk an eyebrow. “If you’re trying to imply that we had sex, I don’t believe you, cause I think I would be sore in certain places if I had sex with a demon.”
He snaps his fingers. “Dammit, you’re too clever.”
You just stare at him, waiting for him to explain to you why he’s standing in the middle of your living room. He sighs under your stare, rolling his eyes in annoyance.
“You were too drunk to walk last night, so I took you back to your house. There, happy?”
“… You took care of me?” You grin when he sends you a hard look, pointing at you accusingly.
“Don’t say it.”
“Oh, I won’t.” You manage to stand up, walking towards your kitchen to take a glass of water. “I’ll just wait for you to get out of your denial state.”
“Okay, Pretty Smile, get down of your horse a little.” You don’t seem to be phased by the anger in his voice, only starting to drink your water. “You’re not that special, okay? You’re a simple disgusting human, and that’s all.”
“Huh-huh.”
He groans, then he points at you. “Meeting at Tahani’s in an hour for a negotiation session. Don’t be late!”
And just like that, he leaves your small cozy home, grumbling under his breath while you just grin like a maniac.
○°○°○°○°○°○
“All right, let’s begin negotiations.” Michael keeps looking between Eleanor and Trevor, the blond instantly taking your hand in hers for comfort. “Now, we would like to discuss various trades that we could-”
“Oh, yeah-” Trevor shakes his head. “-we’re not negotiating. See, Fake Eleanor and I, we bro-ed down pretty hard last night… we hooked up.”
“No, we didn’t!”
“Yeah, but who are they going to believe? Me or a… woman?” Trevor laughs, the other demons soon laughing to while you quirk an eyebrow.
“Well, you, since you just agreed that you didn’t hook up.”
Trevor loses his smile and glares at you, not liking that you’re grinning at him nor the fact that you’re still holding hands with Fake Eleanor.
“Point is!” Trevor looks back at Michael, more than annoyed now. “She knows that she doesn’t belong here, and she’s giving up.”
You turn your head at your blond friend, not believing what Trevor is saying.
“Is this true, Fake Eleanor?” Michael seems like he’s been backstabbed. “Are you giving up?”
“Yeah, of course, she is. She knows this place isn’t for her.” Trevor stands up, waiting for the blond to imitate him. “Let’s go, ding-dong! You have to say goodbye to Pretty Smile now. Come on.”
She shares a long look with you, the woman noticing the sadness in your eyes. She suddenly feels determination inside her, and she turns back to Trevor with a strong decision.
“No. I’m not leaving.”
“Oh, come on, sweetheart. We’ve been through this. You know you don’t belong here.”
“You’re right! I don’t!” Eleanor frees your hand and stands up, a grin coming to her lips. “But I want to. I used to never want to be a part of any group, but I’m a different person now because of the people who helped me, and I wanna be like them! I wanna be like all the people who are here!”
“You can, Eleanor!”
You friend’s smile turns into a genuine one. “Thanks, Real Eleanor!”
“Hey, if you two aren’t gonna make out, just shut up.” Trevor shakes his head, his eyes turning to you as an idea pop into his head. “Look, if you don’t come with us, we’re taking Pretty Smile here!”
You give him a shocked look. “What?”
“Trevor.” Michael moves his hand in the air a little, trying to find words. “(Y/N) is a good person, you can’t take her.”
“Oh yeah? Well if you don’t give us someone, we’re gonna have to turn this matter to Shawn.”
“Oh! Oh, no!” Michael starts to panic but tries to suppress it. “Shawn, really?”
You frown, confused. “Who’s Shawn?”
“He’s the wise, eternal Judge who sits on high,-” Michael takes a small pause. “-and has the final say on all disputes between our two realms.”
“And his name is…” Tahani frowns. “… Shawn?”
“Okay, look-” Trevor talks with a serious voice, letting away his evil goofy self. “-I don’t want Shawn involved either. So, how about you blow us away with an offer, like giving us Pretty Smile, so we can end this?”
“I have a name, you know?”
“Pretty Smile suits you better.”
You glare at him, but he only grins at you.
“Okay… here’s my offer.” You see Michael stand up, suddenly afraid that he might let you go with the demons to replace your best friend’s place. “You get nothing!”
You scared expression turns into a huge smile, Trevor frowning in surprise at the angel.
“We’re not letting Fake Eleanor or (Y/N) go with you, we’re not giving you anything!”
Tahani points at the eternal being with excitement. “Get ‘em, Michael!”
“You can summon every evil creature you have, every weapon in your arsenal, every four-headed flying bear!” Michael turns to you and your friends. “They have them down there.”
He looks back at Trevor, ignoring the smug coming back on the demon’s lips.
“But we are not giving up! I believe that Eleanor belongs in The Good Place! If I’m wrong, you can take her to The Bad Place and punish her all you want, just really go to town on her!”
“Gah, gah, gah!” Eleanor puts her hand on Michael’s shoulder, smiling awkwardly. “Easy, buddy, easy.”
“But she’s staying here… and so is (Y/N)! Now-” He looks at all the demons around the room. “-all of you… get the fork out of my neighborhood.”
Trevor stays silence for a few seconds, sharing a long look with Michael, then he angrily chuckles as he turns to Eleanor.
“You’re on borrowed time, Fake Eleanor.” He smirks when he sees her take your hand in hers. “Enjoy it while it lasts.”
He then looks at you in the eyes, a strange glint appearing in them.
“Goodbye, Pretty Smile. I’ll see you soon.”
You don’t know what he means by that.
“Let’s roll, dummies! Let’s take one drink for the road.”
Once all the demons leave Tahani’s place, you all sigh in relief, Eleanor and Michael sitting back down.
“Bravo, Michael!” Tahani applauds the eternal being with a bright smile. “Bravo!”
○°○°○°○°○°○
A lot of things happened since your last encounter with Trevor.
First, Eleanor came to you to confess her feelings, taking you completely off guard. You actually froze and stared at the wall for a very long time, making her panic (she thought she broke you). Eventually, you got out of your mental state and said you loved her back.
You guys were happy for a short while until Eleanor noticed that she could never earn enough points by staying here, and she left without you to Mindy St. Claire’s place. But you didn’t let the voices in your head win, and you fight with Michael and your friends to prove to Shawn that your girlfriend deserved to stay here (along with Jason, since Michael has discovered about him by mistake). That was before the judge said that, because you and Chidi helped Eleanor and did bad things, you were going to replace her and Jason in The Bad Place. You were having a panic attack when your two lost friends and Janet came back to save you.
You remember sharing a passionate kiss with Eleanor, crying a lot in her arms when Shawn said you still had to choose two people to go to The Bad Place. Everyone was arguing, the voices in your head getting worse until Eleanor realized that you guys were actually in The Bad Place.
Everything made sense. This was the reason why the voices were still here.
Then, Michael said that he was going to reboot you and make some changes to stop you all from getting better, and you have to thank the universe for letting Eleanor write a note and hide it inside Janet’s mouth in time… but here you are now, your mind wiped clean as you’re sitting unconscious in a random room with your friends, waiting for Michael to wake you up one by one for the second try.
○°○°○°○°○°○
Michael is currently sitting in his office, going over some details while he waits for Janet to regain her knowledge after he killed her. That’s when Trevor walks in without even knocking, taking the eternal being by surprise.
“Trevor? What are you doing-”
“I heard you were making changes for this version, right?” The demon smirk, putting his hands on the desk. “Well, I just got an idea for you.”
Michael smirks back, waiting for his coworker to talk.
○°○°○°○°○°○
“So…” You walk around the neighborhood with Michael, frowning in confusion at what he just said to you. “You’re saying that… soulmates… are real?”
“They sure are!”
“And…” You stop talking for a moment, shaking your head to clear the voices. “… you say that I have one?”
“Well, of course.” Michael puts his hand on your back, leading you towards a pizza place. “Everyone has one, (Y/N). Even little old you.”
“Oh.. that’s… that’s nice.” You smile sweetly, not quite believing that someone could be a perfect match for you and be universe approve.
“Here, let me introduce you.” You try to kick away the anxiety as the eternal being makes you stand beside a random table. “Trevor, I would like you to meet (Y/N), your soulmate.”
Your eyes go wide at the sight of the man before you. He is hot, you think, totally sucked in by his brown eyes and his forking attractive smile. You watch him stand up in pure silence, feeling your eyes go wide as he extends his hand towards you.
“So nice to meet you, (Y/N).” You somehow manage to shake his hand, hypnotize by his voice. “I must say, you’re prettier than I thought.”
Your cheeks suddenly get warm and you avert your eyes, the voices trying to dismiss the compliment.
“Oh, um… thanks.” You smile sweetly, not really knowing what to say. “You’re not so bad yourself.”
He points at you, a grin settling on his lips. “You have a pretty smile.”
You snort. “You’re probably the only one who thinks so.”
“Well!” You jump up when Michael claps his hand together, surprising you. “You two seem to go along well, so I’ll leave you to it. Trevor, I assume that you’ll show her where you’ll live?”
“Wait-” Your eyes open wide and you turn back at the angel. “-we’re gonna live together? Like… right away?”
“Of course!” Michael laughs, doing a movement in the air with his hand. “You guys are soulmates! There’s no need for the long and awkward “getting to know each other” thing. You already perfect for each other!”
You awkwardly laugh, starting to play with your hands.
“I… guess you’re… right.”
Yeah, no… you’re really not comfortable with that.
“Come on, it’ll be fun.” Trevor puts his arm around your shoulders and you tense up, the man slightly hugging you while doing so. “Besides, I’d like to see more of that pretty smile.”
He pinches your cheek, making you recoil.
“Just trust me, (Y/N).” Michael smiles. “I’m the one who knows what’s best for you.”
You stay silent for a few seconds, then sighs.
“Alright… if you say so…”
