▽ Subway to Stardew - Adoptable Joltik ⚡️
This would play after Emmet's 8 heart event and getting Joltik up to 8 hearts as well.
I released a separate mod specifically for adopting Joltik, so you only need to get them up to 8 hearts to adopt them! You can do it right now!
Adoptable Joltik Mod Link: https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/21002
Tumblr media
And of course... Commentary under the read-more.
Joltik's adoption event sat in the drafts for quite a while. It took me whole a day to implement and I didn't let myself sleep until I finished everything. (It's 1 PM now...)
The event ended up wildly different because of how extra custom pets are implemented. You would think that they would be added in the same way as you get your cat/dog that you select during character creation. No. You have to buy a license. Only Marnie is authorized to sell them.
Here's the original script for Joltik's adoption event:
[Joltik Adoption Event]
Emmet: @! Joltik likes you verrrrry much. They want to stay with you. I'm letting you adopt them. Yup. I filled out all the paperwork. The Joltiks are legally documented now.
I never gave ours a name... Galvantula wouldn't let me. She is verrrry picky about it. But that's okay. Joltik is yours. You should name them. She came along for approval. So. What name should I put on the adoption form?
[Name input box like Marnie's adoption thing...]
[Galvantula pauses for a moment to think and then offhandedly agrees.]
Emmet: Galvantula didn't shock me for that. That name is okay. Yup. I will file that with the Ferngill Republic. Don't worry about it. Make sure you take verrrry good care of our little Joltik!
[Joltik jumps and heart emotes]
◇──◆──◇──◆
The whole naming portion was a source of much more frustration than it should have been. In events, the name input box is brought up by the "catQuestion" command (which applies to dogs chosen at the start, too...
Tumblr media
If you refuse, then Marnie also shows up no matter what you do. Farmhouse positions are also tricky and made even harder to find reference for after 1.6 added the farmhouse being moveable. Joltik kept spawning where Emmet was supposed to be so I had to use a move command just to get them to spawn one tile to the side. Galvantula was fine. I didn't get to updating her vanilla portraits yet so she's staying quiet.
The catQuestion command also only adds the pet you pick during character creation. There's no fields to target the usage. You have to buy a license. It's the only way to get another pet. I didn't want Joltik to replace a cat either since in-story you would have to earn the trust of both Emmet and Galvantula... There's no way you can do that by the first 25 days of spring. It's immersion breaking and you lose a cat.
I did find the license aspect funny though. It was oddly fitting for the mod's lore of Pokemon being pretty much banned from the region. Emmet is a threat to Stardew Valley's ecosystem. Not the best guy for the task of combating anti-Pokemon xenophobia.
Pet sizes are apparently hardcoded so I had to make a new spritesheet for Joltik as if they even need a 32 x 32 pixel area per frame. I did end up making new sprites for them while I was at it. I tried to base it off of the cat's behaviors so I have less animation fields to edit (I was tired). The cat loafs a lot. Trying to convey that in a tiny spider posed quite the challenge.
Tumblr media
After everything was done, I figured that the whole adoption portion of the mod could easilly be taken apart to be its own mod as a demo of sorts for the expansion. So I went and made a content pack to post.
Bringing up your starter pet's friendship level takes quite some time, so it would be awkward if I let the event play with no preconditions. Because of that, I ended up including Joltik as an NPC and locking their adoption behind their heart level.
We actually only had two lines per day of the week (not including season) for daily dialogue. That shot up to six lines per day of the week for a full 0-2-4-6-8-10 in spring because I was determined to publish a mod. (I've been modding for nearly a year nonstop and I don't have anything playable... humiliating...)
Anyways! I hope you're all having fun with 1.6! It certainly brought new challenges and opportunities to the modding scene!

Hello sometimes I do finish my pokemon art lmao
This is Dimitri! a Gardevoir OC of mine. I have some fun Ideas about Gardevoir having some uncanny valley in comparison to humans. They evolved to mimic humans from a distance.
While Gardevoir are incredibly loyal to their trainers, they're also very secretive and territorial, and live in small forested communities that often use their psychic/fairy typing and human silhouette to lure humans er.... ~away~
They're basically your classical elf. capricious and tricky and loyal if you earn it.
Dimitri is a trianerless Gardevoir who works in a pokemon center alongside the usual Audino and Clefairy. (i'm making that pokemon medical school Jesse went to in the anime canon ok?) Dimitri acts as an anesthesiologist who keeps small delicate pokemon unconscious using hypnosis, and is often brought in after traumatic events to assist with pokemon and trainers experiencing symptoms of shock.
He's a sweet bean :3

Note
Hi Ranger Rai. I wanted to ask for advice on dragons.
You see, I accidentally stumbled upon a poacher in Kalos. The poacher had a cage with a trapinch, gible, axew, bagon, charmander and surprisingly a tyrunt.
I did something stupid and impulsive. When the coast was clear, I used my pokeballs to catch the pokemon and booked it. I visited Route 13 many times before and that is where I stayed for at least a few weeks.
Well, long story short, I heard from a bypasser that the poacher was caught, the little dragons got used to me and I decided to have them as my main team. They're my first pokemon outside of family companions. Any basic care you can suggest?
Well first let me applaud your bravery, but condem your actions because that could have been very dangerous for many reason.
Dragon Types are pretty strong even at their early stages, and if they had registered you as a threat.
Not to mention that if the poacher had caught you they might have been even more aggressive and dangerous than any angry dragon type.
But seeing as everything turned out alright, I won't be too harsh on it. Next time, use the emergency functions on your Pokedex (see this post)
Before anything you're going to need to get them checked out thoroughly at the pokemon center, make sure they weren't tagged.
Also you're gonna want to make sure they are well socialized and mentally and emotionally fit for battles.
Some pokemon have trauma from events and being locked in cages and battles can unfortunately trigger that trauma as well as small things you might not expect like being inside buildings, cars, or certain pokemon.
Once they are checked and cleared, you're going to really need to be prepared for a lot of work.
If you're a new trainer then you might want to find a dragon type support program to help get more detailed training.
If you have some experience then you'll need things they can really thrash and beat up, because their training is some of the most intense.
Sure Fighting types, Steel Types and psychic types can be tricky but Dragons are serious raw power, and one bad training day can be dangerous.
It's why a lot of trainers don't raise more than 2 Dragons at a time.
You're going to want someone with you or have a counter measure against them first like an Ice or Fairy Type just in case you get a rampage on your hands. It can happen in the transitional stages, mostly when a dragon is growing into its new form, or if it feels threatened to the point that it needs to let loose.
Before you even consider going through a gym challenge, you might want to train and see who is closest to evolving, and try to have 1 or 2 of them who have evolved and are stronger than the rest, essentially an Alpha of the group to help keep the others in check.
Let's also not forget the hunger and feeding times for these guys.
They are pretty easy to manage now, but a Gabite is very volatile when it's hungry.
You have your work cut out for you, so here's what I'd suggest if you're training and exploring the region.
When you reach a new city or town, spend a few days there to restock on supplies, allow your pokemon time to rest and train with one or two at a time, this way you can keep tabs on their growth.
Have a notebook and chart their growth, when one of them starts eating a lot more, and becoming more aggressive, they might be getting close to evolving.
There's way more to go about but you'll need to talk to an expert about it.
I hope this helps.

Oh! What do you think lucille and her pokemon in beans day? Imagine the tricky chaos that her pokemon set up
Note: Events are considered as non canon to The Other Side of The Mirror timeline.
Oh it’s definitely chaotic alright.
Lucille is putting all of her experience to use. Taking down on student at a time, they never saw, heard, smelled her coming. She’s setting up traps everywhere. Lucille made herself quite a terrifying opponent.
As for the Pokemons, I like to think that Lucille isn’t allowed to use them, since most of them would all just listen to her, and it would be unfair for the other students.
This idea kinda came from @phoenix-manga a while ago, but I like to think that her Pokemons are strewn across the forest, hiding everywhere. Students can try to convince them to work with them for the duration.
This is to help them earning the skill of communication, persuasion, decision making and calculate the outcome (?, idk if it makes sense). Basically the students need to assess the situation that they’re in, try to convince the Pokemon that work best in that situation to aid said student. If they’re being to bossy, the Pokemon will either leave, or worse, attack them. Vargas and Crowley very much approve of this, thinking it could be good life skills.
Pokemons aren’t allowed to endanger students’ lives, but can fire off an attack as a warning. Damage inflicting moves are only allowed on other Pokemons, status inflicting moves (minus Poison and Fire types) can be used on students however. There are some first aid stations set up around the forest with the ghosts, Chansey, Audino, Trein and Crewel, who have been briefed on healing Pokemons working there to treat injured Pokemons and students. These are neutral zones and anyone who tried anything funny will be reported directly to Crowley. You are not allowed to harm the Pokemons whatsoever, because Lucille will come after your ass.
Lucille isn’t allowed any Pokemon from the start, so she needs to find one hiding in the forest and convince said Pokemon to work with her. She chose her Ariados, a very smart decision considering the environment and her moveset. Onion felt betrayed and threw a fit, burning a tree in the process.
There are other students who managed to convince the Pokemons to work with them as well.
Trey - Alcremie
Vil - Kirlia, Titania the Florges, Vivian the Vivillon
Rook - Decidueye, Aerosmith the Talonflame (the most formidable trio)
Jade - Paras (a terrifying duo)
Epel - Applin (he wanted to pick something strong and badass looking like Jawsephine or Anjawlica but unfortunately Malleus already had her and Anjawlica is a bit of a setback due to how bulky and slow she is on land despite her strength)
Lilia - Sonic the Noivern
Malleus - Jawsephine the Garchomp
(Remember the combat between Lilia and Malleus during the event? Sonic and Jawsephine are also locked in a sky combat, aiding their “trainers”)
Riddle - Budew (quite the formidable pair)
Floyd - Ribombee (a lot more terrifying than you would think)
Jack - Riolu, Onion the Houndoom
Azul - Malamar (he somehow convinced the Pokemon to work with him), Violet the Vivillon (Lucille has four Vivillons in total, all with different patterns)
Jamil - Pachirisu, Nickit
Sirius - Galvantula, Shroomish
Lucille was extremely close to winning tho, but at the final moment Onion threw himself at her and threw a tantrum since she didn’t picked him from the beginning. She made up with him by giving him lots of treats and cuddles.

3 things to know about you! If you had a pokemon partner like Ash has pikachu, which pokemon would it be? What is your favorite holiday? What's your most played dnd class?
Thank you for asking!! ❤️
1. Well here is the headboard of my bed
Tumblr media
I would have an Eevee! I've adored them since I first played a Pokémon game and they're still my absolute favourite! Let's Go, Eevee! legitimately made me cry a couple of times 😂
2. Unsure if you mean favourite holiday I've been on or if you mean like, yearly event so will answer both -Halloween is probably my favourite holiday; it's not too hot, mostly happens at night, dressing up is fun! Favourite place I've been on holiday to was a study trip to Greece, did a week long bus tour around the Peloponnese visiting historical sites when I was at college. Was an amazing experience and hope one day to go back and do the same thing around Attica.
3. Most played class is actually a tricky one! I like to mix up classes for every game I play, but I think it's probably bard!

Is number 13 taken? If not, that one! :]
13. Which story has the most lore?
Honestly my Hollow Knight story is the most in-depth one I've come up with, and I'm still really happy with it, even if its not fully fleshed out!
Making my own kingdoms and species has been a blast, and ofc lore to go with each kingdom, characters, and more!
Trying to tie it to the current events of Hallownest too is tricky, but i dont fully involve it into my OCs narrative.
I'd liiike to say my Kirby story is just as deep... but honestly its still a mess and unclear. Maybe my Pokemon stuff could count too with the World Guardian's lore spanning hundreds/ thousands of years ago.

the only way to be sure of catching a train is to miss the one before it
Chapter 10: waybill correction
Word Count: 10k
Summary: Life waits for no one, but that won't stop Ingo from working hard to reclaim his seat at the cab, knowing he'll have the aid of his loved ones every step of the way. As days turn into weeks, a sense of normality finally settles upon them.
So of course Life had to throw one more curve ball. Or two.
Excerpt:
They watched the interview afterwards when it went live on TV, the kids making a party out of it with popcorn (lightly buttered), juice (soda having been banned from the two time-travelers for the time being) and some sweet dried fruit snacks made by Johanna (from fruit they got at the farmer's market, though Ingo was surprised she was able to find needed ingredients, seeing as everything had been getting misplaced the last few days).
As they gathered around the living room in preparation for the event, Ingo could not help taking in the group.
The room was packed tight, Pokemon and human alike chattering, munching, cuddling, as they made the best of a bad situation. Sneasels and Joltiks scuttered about, snacks stolen out of hands, and while the kids howled with laughter as Emmet and Ingo bickered on the screen (it wasn’t his fault microwaves were tricky things! He only set off the smoke alarm once!).
It was… domestic.
Felt like home.
All abooooooard!

Thoughts on Pokemon Scarlet/Violet
Tumblr media
Now that I've completed the main storyline of Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, I wanted to give my detailed thoughts on the games.
Much of the buzz about these games is unfortunately negative - that they're fraught with bugs, suffer from frame rate and performance issues, and have clear signs that they were rushed. While I can't say that this isn't true, the question I can definitely answer is whether these things hindered my personal enjoyment of the games...and the answer is no. I recall that there was even more initial negativity for Sword/Shield due to them being the first games cutting out pokemon from the national-dex, plus similar complaints about graphics and performance issues. People even went so far as to say they won't even buy the games. But of course, those games ended up being massively successful. And, as I expected, Scarlet/Violet have also sold incredibly well. As much as fans trash the new Pokemon games, they seem to always be a hit. I guess, when it comes down to it, we just love Pokemon too much to stay mad at it for very long, lol. Does it suck that these games continue to exclude pokemon and are riddled with bugs/glitches? Of course. But does it also mean that the bad things about the games outweigh the joy that they bring? Definitely not, at least for me. A game with glitches can still be a very fun game (just look at Pokemon Red/Blue) and I'm having a blast with Scarlet/Violet, just as I did with Sword/Shield, and really, every main series Pokemon game since the beginning...there was never a generation of Pokemon I disliked. Like I always say, even if there are some things about a beloved franchise that you don't like, if you find that you can't fully divorce yourself from it, you might as well make the best of it and have fun.
So with that out of the way, let's look at the new games themselves. One of the main selling points for Scarlet/Violet is being the first "open world" Pokemon games. While that term is used a bit loosely, it does mean you're able to do any of the 18 story events in any order you like. Now I have to say that I played through the game in a way that most people probably did not - I looked up all the 18 events on Serebii, noted the levels of the pokemon for each, then did them in order starting with the lowest levels to highest levels. For example, I did the bug gym first (LV14), then the first titan pokemon (LV16), then the grass gym (LV17), then the first Team Star base (LV21), and so on. Of course I stopped in between to explore, battle trainers, and catch pokemon, but for the most part I just stuck to the story. I don't like being too under or over leveled, so with this method the game was fairly challenging, especially towards the end where the level gaps for the story events seem to get bigger. But from what I've heard, people who play the game normally have tended to get very over leveled for much of the main story. Assuming future pokemon games will also be open world, hopefully they'll implement some kind of level scaling. It might be tricky with a game like pokemon, for example, if you put level scaling, you can't make a legendary pokemon LV10 or something, but that would then mean restricting the location of that pokemon until later, hence making it less open world. I'm sure there's some way to make it more balanced.
But as far as the open world aspect of Scarlet/Violet overall? I thought this was the closest a Pokemon game has ever gotten to making me feel like I'm really on an adventure with pokemon. Being able to traverse through vast fields, mountains, rivers, etc, seeing tons of pokemon out in the overworld wandering around, sleeping, running, swimming, flying, and hanging out in groups of similar species, being able to seamlessly go from town to town without any loading screens, and have battles with trainers you meet along the way while the wild pokemon in the area continue to go about their business all around you (instead of the standard battle background templates we've gotten in every other game). Setting up a picnic at any spot and being able to freely roam around with your team of pokemon (without the locked camera in Sword/Shield) and being able to play ball with them, bathe them, watch the cute ways that they sleep, etc...all of this added up to probably the most immersive Pokemon adventure I've ever had, so I definitely have to give Scarlet/Violet kudos for that. Another improvement is in the textures of the pokemon sprites themselves. You can now see things like fur, feathers, metallic shines, etc., instead of the "flat" textures that all pokemon shared in past games. I guess one nitpick I have is that the towns themselves are pretty dull. They all have very similar food, clothing, and supply stores and no unique buildings/houses to enter and NPCs to talk to like in past games. I can kind of see why they went this route for games like this, but having each town have at least one unique thing besides the gym leader would have been nice.
Terastallizing is the new gimmick in these games, and although I haven't yet gotten around to fully exploring how to use it in competitive battling, I think it has great potential! I'm glad they kept raids in these games as it was a great multiplayer addition in Sword/Shield, though I'm still a bit confused with how turn order works in tera raids. I'll figure it out eventually.
Another thing I love about the games is how it's even easier to make competitive pokemon. As someone whose main interest in Pokemon games is battling people online, this is very welcome. They already made it easy in Sword/Shield with the addition of mints and exp candy, but Scarlet/Violet goes a step further by making all the supplies you'll need for a competitive pokemon - vitamins, mints, held items, and bottle caps - available to buy at stores! (Also you can now hyper train pokemon at LV50, which is great). No more having to farm battle points or search desperately for that Munchlax with Leftovers. Though the one downside here is that all these things cost lots of money. In Sword/Shield, I was able to easily farm money by rematching the champion cup using my LV100 gigantamax Meowth with G-Max Goldrush. But apparently in Scarlet/Violet the only battles you can redo are in the Academy Ace Tournament, which I haven't explored yet and I'm not even sure if you get money for that. Seems like your main source of post-game income in Scarlet/Violet will be from selling the respawning items in the overworld and drops from tera raids. Still researching this but hopefully people will discover better methods as time goes on.
Tumblr media
Another thing I really liked about Scarlet/Violet is the main storyline and characters. Now I'm someone who pretty much never replays Pokemon games - after I complete the game once, I spend the rest of my time in the post-game world. As such, most of the stories and characters in past games haven't really stuck in my head very well. Overall, I just don't find the human characters in Pokemon games all that interesting or memorable (with a few exceptions, like Cyrus and Lusamine). However, having finished Scarlet/Violet, I have to say that the overarching plot between the three main storylines, and how the characters you befriend there come together in a surprisingly suspenseful and emotional climax, was fantastic. I actually found myself liking a lot of the characters - I liked the relationship between the Team Star members and Penny, I liked Nemona as a slightly eccentric but overall well-meaning rival, and I even found some of the gym leaders interesting as well. The games also have a few pre-rendered cutscenes (a rarity in Pokemon games) which were great at giving us a better variety of expressions and gestures from the characters, which helped further the emotional impact of the story. And speaking of expressions, I absolutely adored the animations for Koraidon/Miraidon in the cutscenes - very reminiscent of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon. Kudos to whoever decided to give the mascot pokemon such endearing expressions.
Tumblr media
To conclude, I think Pokemon Scarlet/Violet are fantastic additions to the Pokemon series despite some benign glitches. Improvements such as the open world immersion, a more fleshed out storyline and characters, and easier ways of getting items are all welcome in my book. While it would have been nice if they delayed the game longer to smooth out all the graphical bugs, I still think the final product we got is very enjoyable for any Pokemon fan. I can't wait to keep delving into the post-game, and look forward to future DLC!

i think anon doesn't understand this tournament is purely for fun + its not like anyones forcing their hand to choose whatever you (or others for that matter) "tell them to choose". like come on, nobodys holding them at gunpoint be like "VOTE PHEROMOSA", obviously theyre free to choose whatever pokemon they like best. AND obviously people will be cheering on their favorite pokemon too, theres no need to take it literally @ anon
(also chose pheromosa bc its in my top five favorite pokemon and the funniest one to give as an example. whats your top 5 pokemon romeo?)
LMAO yeah exactly exactly!!!! Also pheromosa is a rly fun pokemon I agree!!
Top 5... i mean my favorite mon ever is togekiss, it's like... my brand. But the next four are a little tricky to choose bc there's a LOT informing my decision like type preference (my fav type is dark type followed closely by fairy), nostalgia (starters or otherwise mons I used through the games a lot, or mons i came to love through the movies), or just appearance (being animals I like like noctowl, all bunny mons, all moth mons...)
That all being said I think umbreon entei lugia and mew are probably good candidates to be the next four after togekiss, but this can be obviously subject to change, and the legendaries are really just because for the movie nostalgia deal. I did do and save that one fav pokemon picker thing once but I'm on mobile and at event so prob hard to access it now.
I think its better to ask me individually how I feel about mons in a smaller group bc then I'll be more easily able to tell you which ones I'm insane about and love with with my heart

For the fanfic ask game: 🍬📗💘
Do you write for multiple fandoms? If yes, what is your favourite fic of yours for each fandom?
Yes! I write for multiple fandoms for enrichment purposes (what I learn in one fandom space can be translated to another and I am literally a hunter-gatherer for tropes and prompts for my friends of one fandom).
Uh, this answer will be long, but favourite fic for every fandom I've written for (as recorded by Ao3, as my Quizilla fics and FF.net fics are no longer accessible):
Star Wars: The Old Republic: Cliché Spy Tactics. Rivals-to-friends-to-mutual-idiotic-crush meet-cute! I still find it actively hilarious.
Red vs. Blue: Storytelling. An unreliable narrator fic told entirely by the world's most eccentric best friends.
Overwatch: Sostener. A start of redemption, built out of the Year 1 Overwatch Lore of Scraps. One of the things that endears me to this story is that I got to play with my SoCal heritage with it.
Warframe: Midnight Mother, Cinnabar Children wins by default, being my only Warframe fic 😂 I do think there's good about it though, simply from the two lines
Simaris snorted. “I’m so glad you’re not like them. You’re sensible.”
“False,” she teased, “I have you to be sensible for me. Like a father of ancient myth.”
Dungeons & Dragons: Dangerous Woman wins by default, but also because it spawned me to write a 72-page homebrewed worldbuilding document that's gained a life of its own.
DC Comics: Guardian. My beloved "Drag Black Adam from Lawful Evil to Lawful Good" fic. What stands of it now is largely me pulling together different instances of his backstory together into something remotely coherent. Runner up is A Study in Cyan, largely because it has a cat-based hero who compares the experience of her boyfriend slowly coaxing her down from her various traumas to "getting a cat out of a tree" and that's a metaphor I'll stand by.
Young Justice: It has 3 fics in it, but the Low-Key series overall is my baby. I think it gets extra shoutouts for having 80k words of platonic slow-burn (it takes Captain Cold a LONG time to figure out that Theo is His Kid. Like, not biologically his kid, but oh my gods is She His Kid. Like, emotionally. He has been dadding her for 75k words and he writes it off as being a team leader and a mentor for a baby hero. Understanding he's Being a Dad takes him an embarrassingly long time. His teammates knew before he did, the bastards [derogatory]. Like. Way before him. Right when she first stole his signature cold gun from him, the little shit [affectionate], which is at like. Chapter fucking One of the first fic in this series)
Guild Wars 2: EASY WINNER the four times that pact commander magna and shining blade asset canach gave the rumor mills false ammo and the one time they didn't. It's SO FUNNY. Fake dating during a dragon-slaying saga between two non-humans with different cultural spheres. All because a nosy 6-year-old thought they should have (gasp) friends.
Fallen Hero: Rebirth: Does it say? is still. So fucking good. I took a scene from the game and slipped in personal traits in between, lovingly-crafted flashback sequences pondering the nature of what it means to be human. Fall In Line is a very close second, as it unpacks a LOT of gender trauma for me (in a way that's subtly mirrored by Felicette's Everything. Fall In Line is more blatant about it than Felicette's arc will ever be).
Pokemon: Do Something Crazy! It's a story of healing and growth for everybody involved! And also includes speculative biology, because y'all know I Am Like This.
FFXIV: Ganzhyllsyn's 4 Steps to a Heist, hands down.
Critical Role: I was broken; now We're golden. I saw Essek and went "what if big brother?" and ran with it.
Fairy Tail: the heart is hard to translate / it has a language of its own. My sole attempt at a NaNoWriMo-esque challenge. I still like this weird translation of the manga's events as MMORP events and inter-guild drama.
Miraculous Ladybug: of Sages and Warriors. Duh. You knew this. Close seconds are O' Neighbour Mine and A Tricky Treat.
Na Daoine Maithe: I only have Lighting the Wick thus far, but there'll be more. This visual novel has lit brainworms and they are persistent.
And uh, if you're still here after all that, here are the OTHER TWO questions you asked (I'm sorry, I like a lot of things and thus write a lot of things)
Do you want to write something outside of fanfiction? If so, what about?
So like. I have three original project ideas, two of which are interactive fiction games. The first idea is that I take Dangerous Woman, strip it of all the DND stuff, and make that a novel in its own right (because that'd be extraordinarily easy for me to do, I'd just have to, y'know, finish it. I know how it ends, it's just a matter of landing the execution).
My two interactive fiction game ideas:
You play as an orphan in the setting of Dangerous Woman, ending up as one of King Oberon's adopted kids. You investigate a weird anomaly in Oberon's territory and meet a cast of odd characters (some of whom are romanceable, all of whom are friendable).
You play as someone who just got reincarnated as one of those flat villainess characters in a fantasy novel...that you, the player character, have never personally read. Frantically remembering the info-dumping of your best friend, you try to survive: will you give in to how easy it is to be what people think you are or will you fight it?
Is it easier to write angst or fluff?
Fluff. Any day of the week. I find a lot of what people consider to be angst to be boring melodrama and a lot of what people think of what I think of as angst to be "tame". Like a lot of things with me, both terms have an asterisk and a lot of variables, but fluff has fewer variables, so fluff wins.

Void's Conan Log Pt. 1
So I started watching Detective Conan, as of writing this it has 1111 episodes, and I doubt I'll get through them all. I've never watched something this long before (I tend to watch pokemon by season, in its 120~ episode chunks) so it's new.
I wanted to make a log in the event that I do end up sticking with it, so I'd be able to look back on my thoughts and stuff. also maybe it'll be entertaining for old conan fans? I don't know much about conan at all, so going in spoiler free -ish will be fun! (will be spoilers in these logs tho up to where i am for others)
I'm not logging daily, only when I think something of note has happened, or I hit a milestone or something.
btw: I watched all of Zero's tea time before this, it looked neat. I know this is out of order, but i wasn't planning on watching conan when I watched zero's tea time.
-
Episodes watched: 1-6
Favourite Episode of Episodes Watched: Probably the Neon map puzzle one, I liked seeing the kids run around and the mystery was fun
Episodes where I could solve the mystery before it was revealed? Yeah! I solved the 6th episode's mystery with the poison coffee and antidote cake =D!!
Favourite Character right now: Ran <3 girlboss mode.
Things I Learned: Conan's the main boy, but his real name is Shinichi, he was shrunk by plot convenience drugs. The only person who knows this is the scientist he lives next to. The only person concerned about Shinichi's disappearence is Ran. Ran loves Shinichi and Shinichi loves Ran, but now that Shinichi is Conan, things are tricky. Ayumi likes Conan, but Conan doesn't feel the same for obvious reasons. Conan currently has three gadets, a voice change bowtie, cool shoes, and a mic in his glasses. The kids call themselves the detective boys which is adorable. Ran's father is a dirtbag. Shinichi's parents are just?? in america??? sure?? The series takes place in Modern for the episode release Tokyo.
Things I Know I'm Not Supposed to: Zero exists and he's really upset about a shuichi akai. is he the dead guy or the murderer? unclear. zero works in a cafe, but also as a detective, and also just a guy, and possible a contract killer for a shadow orginiation or something???? really unclear. He was taught to ride a bike by a scientist lady who also abandoned him. is this his mother? unclear. zero interacts with conan at a point, probably frequently.
Things I Wanna Know: Does Conan angst over being Conan? It's gotta be lonely suddenly being 6 when you used to be 17, all the freedoms you had are gone, socializing is hard, etc, and he presumably only had one friend to miss him??? Will Shinichi's parents ever come into play again? Will Ran realize Conan is Shinichi or is this a long running never solved thing? Does the plot really progress or is it like ... barely any different from season to season. Will Ran's dad ever become good at his job? Does Conan progressively become more accustomed to being Conan over Shinichi/ ever give up on his goal to find the orignization who did this to him and become himself again? DOES he become Shinichi over the course of the series?? probably not?? Will the series modernize itself over the course of its run as times change or be in an eternal 90's?
Notes and thoughts: I can really feel the 90's anime of it all, thought thats probably aided by the fansubs im watching (real tln nakama means friend vibes, but i love it for that). I like Ran a lot I hope she gets to kick more people. The music's super good.
And thats on Void's Conan thoughts!

My son has always been a bit of a roughhouser, and I’ve been thinking of getting him a fighting type as his first partner to train with for stress relief. Any tips for what pokemon can match his boundless energy?
Ok so this is a slightly tricky case.
You shouldn't want to encourage rough behavior with a pokemon, you should be looking for a healthy way to let out energy and focus it.
If you want a scrappy, lively pokemon, Scraggy, Pancham and even Aipom are pretty lively and energetic choices and they aren't all full Fighting types.
I'd actually recommend a pokemon that has a lot of potential and can grow in personality with your son.
Something like a Tyrogue is a great idea because it starts off with a general scrappy nature, however it begins training early on so it can master a fighting style.
This is a great way for your son to learn about focus and dedication.
Maybe try the Poliwrath line, as the first two are water types but it can evolve into a solid water/fighting type.
This would be a great training partner and having the benefit of a water type to swim with would be great too.
Of course you might also be better off letting your son make a partner in the wild.
Maybe find an adoption event and see if your son is a match for someone who needs a home.
All pokemon deserve a chance at happiness, so why not find one who needs a home.
