Some thoughts on DRIVEN in 1x19
I announced this before. And now it's time to face the alleged end of driven. I will talk first about how this scene is done and show you some screenshots of the scene one doesn't notice while watching at normal speed. And yes, I will interpret tons of things in tiny details. And secondly, I'll tell you how this scene could have been done better.
I The scene how it is in detail (like DETAIL detail)
So, as shown in the last post, Riven went straight to cloud tower. This means, that Darcy never told him, that she got expelled. We don't exactly know how much time went by from episode 16 to episode 19. It might only be a few days and Riven could have been busy with the party at Red Fountain in episode 17. But it's still a bit strange and shows again that the show is too centered around Bloom and that all other characters aren't thought of very well. But however, he arrived and Darcy shows Riven where they are.
Tumblr media
And now look at these screenshots that happen right after this shot:
Tumblr media
Everything's still alright and he jumps off to get to his gf
Tumblr media
and now look, Darcy looks like she wanted to embrace him or something. But he keeps moving as he realizes that they are in Griffin's office
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's get deep: There are still trust issues. I think it takes really long to heal Riven from these and it looks like he and Darcy hadn't been at this point in their relationship yet. He still stays with his guts and is confused. Darcy on the other hand notices that. His behavior must cut her into her heart somehow and now listen: I think Stormy and Icy already talked with Darcy about her relationship and that she and Riven might have reached a dead end. After all, Stormy and Icy saw Riven as a pawn, as something useful, a tool. A tool, that is not important anymore. To Darcy, Riven was obviously more. We can see how she is worried in 1x8 on the Day of Roses. There is something between them. So Darcy would totally be like: "but we can still profit from him just let me tell him and get him fully on our side." Icy and Stormy would've been yeah yeah whatever, knowing that it would not work out but still let Darcy have that chance. However, the chance was gone after Riven behaved like he did: ignoring Darcy and wondering what was going on, expecting the worst, and showing the Trix, that he is indeed not on their side. So Darcy had to act quickly. I will say in II what could have saved this scene but as for now we only look at how it is. So she sees, ah he doesn't trust me and won't let me explain, so then that's it I guess. And then she betrays him with the thought in mind that he would leave her anyway now. So why not be the one who breaks up then? Maybe that reduces the pain of a breakup. After all, Darcy is a girl of the mind. She knows herself very well and therefore also how to fool herself in order to make herself feel better. Tragic but I think that is what she does here.
Tumblr media
Ok let's get to part II: How this scene could be fixed
Unfortunately, it's necessary for Riven's character arc to break up with Darcy. But the way it is done in the show is very poor. For the watcher who doesn't pay much attention to other characters than Bloom or the Winx, it looks like Darcy just ditched Riven like an old tool that isn't useful anymore. Rainbow totally misses the chance to let both confront their feelings and see how a breakup would be best for both. In Darcy's case, there should have been shown the talk with her sisters who tell her that she had no future with Riven. We should have seen her struggle with this decision and having still a little hope that Riven might stay with her. OR Rainbow should've shown us, that she lost interest in him very quickly which would make this scene as it is more comprehensible. But they did not show that to us. They build up worried, bb girl Darcy in ep 1x7 and 1x8 and did NOTHING with it and I can't express how much that angers me. This villain x anti-hero romance could have been done so well even in a sideline of the normal Bloom-centered story. But they did nothing with it and seriously, Rainbow, WHY?
Tumblr media
So how should it have been done? They should have had a proper conversation about this topic. Alone. Without Stormy and Icy. Darcy should have told him about the situation calmly without her sisters disturbing her. Riven then could come to 2 decisions: The first one would be to still stay with her. It would have gone completely against Icy's and Stormy's will but if he had truly proven, that he was on their side, they couldn't do very much against it. Or he could have come to the conclusion, that he had to leave Darcy. He would feel betrayed by Darcy not telling him their plans earlier and simply for her going too far. And Darcy on the other hand would feel betrayed by Riven for not sticking with her. Both would be deeply hurt and that is how a good relationship like this should end. Both broken, both sad. Rainbow showed us with Brella how good and deep they could portray relationships (also those that are not from the main character). But they totally left this part of the story out. A part, that they OWED to all the fans that shipped them.
Ngl I'm thinking of a one-shot ff about exactly that matter. But I don't know yet if I will write it soon or write it later in my Winx Rewrite that I planned. But be sure, no matter when and where I publish it, it will be more satisfying than this scene in the show.

“...”
Some HCs! !!
Heights don’t look accurate at all but: Darcy (5′7), Icy (6′0), Stormy (5′9),
-All three are half-elves (Darcy’s Drow Father/Solarian Witch, Stormy’s Elven Mother/Andros Warlock, and Icy’s was two Half Snow Elves, Witch and Warlock)
-Darcy’s father is a pos, and her mother got remarried + entirely new family in Solaria = abandonment issues™️
-Darcy now has a jealousy streak, forceful and dangerously manipulative when relationships start to fail, and very needy/dependent when vulnerable
-Icy’s parents’ died “vanished”, got a little too ambitious in the mountains I guess (a trait that Icy definitely inherited)
-Icy now constantly searches for information, knowledge, secrets, etc., gets what she wants at all costs, represses fear/remorse, and leans towards sociopathic
-Stormy’s father is a notoriously brutal pirate, and her mother is a doormat complicit in a lot of his antics, so that’s where her sadistic streak comes from
-Stormy now brutalizes people herself, except she enjoys it way more than the other two, pain and crying makes her laugh, which throws her victims off
-that being said lol: Darcy tries to love and trust Riven but can’t, Stormy thinks Riven’s funny and cool, but she’s very loyal to the Coven & turns on him, and Icy only sees him as Darcy’s distraction & literally wants to get rid of him all the time (but secretly enjoys Darcy being happy or whatever)

While I'm talking about DPxDC that isn't BatFam, I think Lucifer Morningstar would absolutely vibe with Danny
Danny would think Lucifer is a fruit loop like Vlad, but this dude isn't trying to actively kill him and oh look he's giving Danny little treats!! What a cool dude!!
Ghost Zone would be like limbo, which is why it isn't hell. Lucifer actually put the Ghost King in charge of the Zone to make sure limbo could run seperately (and to piss off his dad). So when Lucifer finds out some 13 year old half dead kid is king, he gets curious. He goes to Azrael and finds out that she couldn't take his soul. She felt bad so she turned him into a half ghost.
Lucifer is a bit upset and wonders why The Big Man hasn't fixed it yet, but just let's it go. Azrael admits she didn't expect him to become Ghost King. Sides, Michael didn't kill him when he was playing as Lucifer!! That's a plus!!
Lucifer introduces himself to Danny, who almost has a heart attack. The two get along somewhat well and Lucifer starts to look after Danny for a bit. He absolutely adores him and eventually Dan (Lucifer's Dan, not dark Dan) ends up being sent to the Zone so Danny could keep track of him. Dan and Danny bicker like no tomorrow. Dan doesn't understand why he's with some kid but eventually calms down when he realizes Danny isn't some immortal who just looks 13.
Dan apologizes btw. He may be a dick, but he's a nice dude in the end to kids.
Anyways. Chloe would actually cry over the fact that Danny is dead and Trix would be sad for a bit before being happy she has someone to play with. Maze would be sad but take Danny in.
Maze and Danny are an unbearable duo.

a/n: okay now this actually is my ALL TIME FAVOURITE post that I’ve ever done ... I was literally kicking my feet and giggling while writing this ...

SFW🌿
Wanda is such a sweet partner. She has so much love and she just needs a person to give her love to. What better idea than to have two people to love?
Nat felt hesitant at first. But got more comfortable with the idea when she saw you and Wanda interacting.
You have Mummy issues? They’re healed. They’re gone.
Wanda is the type of person to call you out of the blue, even when you’re at work.   “I just wanted to hear your voice!”
Whereas if Nat called you out of the blue, you’d start to panic
The amount of support and encouragement in this relationship is out of this world.
Whenever you have a bad day, there is always someone ready to make it better
You guys have favourite tv shows and movies that someone will put on randomly, even if no one is watching it. All three of you agree that it’s for comfort; background noise is a must in the household. These are: → Gavin & Stacey: a british tv show that Nat originally thought was ridiculous but now you all do the accents → Modern Family: Wanda LOVES this show, she likes the family dynamics and that they’re always there for one another → Peaky Blinders: This is Nat’s favourite, she loves Tommy Shelby. There are certain aspects of the show that she can connect with → Vikings: all three of you like this show! Especially Lagertha; all of you have a crush on her.  → Elf: yes, Wanda knows it’s a Christmas movie, but when she first saw it, she couldn’t stop. So Nat had to put a ban on it unless it’s near Christmas (which Wanda said was November 1st) → Mamma Mia: All three of you know the words to EVERY ABBA song. Once Yelena slept over and you had the movie playing and she became OBSESSED.  → Every single Harry Potter movie: Wanda sees herself as a Hufflepuff (is actually a Slytherin), Nat knows and accepts she’s a Slytherin → Practical Magic: comes on during the start of Autumn/Fall and stays playing until the 1st of November
Wanda is an amazing cook, especially when it comes to baking. She usually makes a different sweet at the beginning of the week.
You literally don’t have to lock your house up because you’re protected by the two most formidable women on the planet
Nat’s love language is acts of service and secretly words of affirmation. She absolutely DIES whenever you say “I’m proud of you” or “You did a great job!”
And Nat is always the one to fix tires, lightbulbs and get rid of spiders
You might think that Nat would be against living in a cottage, but she absolutely adores it. It was your idea, and Wanda fell in love with it
There are many pets in your household, Nat felt like they were liabilities at first. She wasn’t used to a breathing thing continuously dependent on her
Wanda was a tad unsure as well, but she folded almost instantly
Your pets are:  Trix: the newest addition to the family, she’s a little black kitten who is absolute chaos. She runs up and down the hallways, doing those weird little cat stances. It makes all three of you laugh. Malachi (nicknamed Mal): An Irish wolfhound who had been at the pound for years and was about to be put down Alf: grumpy ol’ fluffy cat who likes to sleep in the sun all day every day. funnily enough, his favourite human is Nat.
Alf bit Sam Wilson when he came to visit and he was so offended because usually animals LOVE him.
There are so many panic buttons around the house in case it becomes a target
Yes, you guys have your own rooms. But they’re basically where you keep your belongings.
Nat works a lot at night, so it’s usually you and Wanda at home by yourselves. When it’s bedtime, you sleep together
Nat’s pet names for you are: ‘sweetheart’, ‘darling’, ‘honey’
Wanda’s pet name for you is: ‘moja ljubav’ meaning ‘my love’. It’s in Serbian which is the official language in Sokovia, where she grew up.
Wanda hums a lot, it’s usually a lullaby from her childhood. It calms her down, especially when she’s worked up
Nat and Wanda like to slow dance in the kitchen. Wanda’s head gently leaning on Nat’s chest, their arms wound tightly around each other. The pots and pans on the stove completely forgotten.
Yelena visits often! She loves Wanda’s cooking, talking with you, and getting to see her big sister. You always beg her to sleep over, and most of the time, she does!
Wanda’s love language is physical touch and quality time. She loves when you kiss her face; peppering small kisses over her nose, cheeks, chin, and forehead.
When Sam comes to visit, he usually brings Bucky and although he starts off as moody, he soon comes to love staying over. He and Nat have a lot in common and chat about their pasts.
Wanda does your and Nat’s nails. She begs Nat to let her do pink but never wins
As a joke you bought everyone matching pajamas, and although it was very funny, you all wear them unironically
Wanda uses her powers for a lot of things, and you absolutely love it. It’s so handy! If something breaks, Wanda can fix it, if you’re out and guys are harassing you, she has the ability to LITERALLY CONTROL THEIR MINDS.
Nat is the least likely to hold grudges, then you, then Wanda...
You’ve all decided that you want to travel the world together. Nat may not appear as excited as you and Wanda (she’s already traveled the world, but that was for missions.)
Wanda wants to go to Disneyland. Can you imagine Nat and Wanda with the mickey ears on?!
Theme Song:
Gimme All Your Love by Alabama Shakes
Relationship Tropes:
✧ Moon (Nat) x Sun (You) x Eclipse (Wanda)
✧ Tragic Past x Ray of Light (this goes for everyone)
✧ The Impulsive (Wanda) x The Hyperactive (You) x The Unheeded Voice of Reason (Nat)

Okay, so Selina the earth fairy as an antagonist
S6 did this by, for some insane reason, by making Selina Bloom's childhood friend who's always had magic which doesn't work on literally every level. So I'm going to try and come up with some ideas that make parts of it work
Selina the earth fairy that was taught by Eldora:
Tbh this is the easiest option
Selina is an earth fairy from the old days along with Eldora. During the WotBC attempted wiping out of all magic users they fled to Tir Na Nog and live under Morgana and Nebula
The Legendarum is a book created by ancient Faries that Selina's family has been in charge of caring for for generations
When the fairies of vengeance are released Selina is soooo excited to help kill the Wizards and the Winx, and their leader Bloom take their revenge away from them by complaining that they shouldn't be allowed to kill the people that tried to WIPE THEM OUT
Selina is pissed, and her teacher Eldora, the woman that saved her life, going on about how forgiveness is the way isn't helping
Season 5 teaches her about the rest of the magical dimension, season 5 teaches her about the Trix
The Trix are blinded by their desire for revenge and make the perfect pawns. They don't care what they lose as long as the winx don't win
And Selina assures them, the Winx will not win
Selina the earth fairy that was Bloom's friend:
This one is a very elegant solution me thinks and it's the FUN one.
Selina and Bloom are childhood friends and the main targets for Mitzi's bullying. Bloom has kind parents, Selina does not, and for eight hours a day they have to listen to people talk badly about them. Mitzi never puts hands on them but they're social pariah's and deal with constant verbal harassment and false accusations
First year of highschool is more of the same and Selina is prepared for it to be them against the world again in their second year, and then Bloom never comes to class
Selina is alone to deal with the bullying she at least had a confidant in Bloom to at least tolerate it with, and now she's alone
Mitzi tells everyone that Bloom was sent to a school that caters to the mentally ill to finally convince the 16 year old that fairies aren't real, and Selina makes things worse for herself by defending Bloom
They text each other, not often and Bloom won't tell her what new school she's going to but they still text. Selina comes over when Bloom goes back to earth (and goes home before the Trix show up)
And then the next year Bloom goes to Mitzi's Halloween party with her new, cool, pretty, friends. Bloom excitedly tells her about it, she's finally going to make Mitzi the butt of the joke and all Selina can think is that she's been replaced
That's not fair though? Bloom is allowed to be happy at her new school so she bites her tongue and pushes down her resentment and rejects Bloom's offer to come with
Next year is...fine. Bloom comes to her graduation party, and she's a bit mopey that she didn't graduate with honors like her new friends but is over all more excited to hear about Selina's college plans. Bloom goes on a trip in the middle of summer and comes back glowing because "the mistake in my grades was fixed and now I have honors!" And it sounds like a lie but Selina doesn't bother calling her out on it. I mean? What if she's telling the truth
Then season 4 happens, and then it's revealed that Bloom is a fairy
Not only did Bloom replace her with better, prettier friends, but she also lied to Selina about being a fairy. Lied to her face about everything related to magic because apparently Bloom never trusted her
And Selina burns with resentment
Selina stops responding to Bloom's texts and avoids her. Everyone asks Selina if she knew, if Bloom told her, who those aliens are, and all Selina has is half truths from the stories Bloom spun her to respond with
Seeing Mitzi become a fairy, unaware of the dead magic that run though her, unaware that the power Mitzi was given comes with a price no one should have to pay, Selina is furious. Incandescent
Magic returned to earth and Selina can float small objects. She's one of the few people that after the earth's magic core was repaired gained magic and she's on the bottom of the scale of power in a group categorized by how they're not as strong as those who can use magic without the core
Hatred fills her lungs like smoke
Season 5 Selina sticks to herself. Bloom usually isn't on earth like she was last year and this Diaspro chick who came from a different planet to help earth get caught up with the rest of the dimension is on the TV all the time talking about Bloom. Selina hates the fact that this woman who met Bloom though a knock-down drag-out fight knows Bloom better than Selina ever did
Did Bloom ever think of her as a real friend?
(Bloom couldn't take the one person that was her friend though all of that calling her a liar, she comes to regret this)
Eventually, while stumbling around the woods, far away from faces that could mock and lie to her she stumbles across a book. The Legendarum. It promises her power, Bloom's regret, importance. All she has to do is open it, anyone with magic can, her strength doesn't matter with the Legendarum doing the work for her
How could she ever refuse?

Yayyy finale DND session! We successfully did not die, stopped the mayor's ritual, and saved a friendly NPC from becoming a slave to a god. The downside: we left the town in the hands of a gangster (who we convinced last minute to switch sides) and may need to fix that, oops.
Anyway, we got:
Barakas: Tiefling wizard
Dex: Human ranger
Guthix: Aasimar monk
Vincent: High elf bard
Variant: Aasimar cleric
Trix (NPC): Drow...sorcerer? (idk, he's magical)

Fallen From Earth 4
Warnings: Uusal dark stuff, death
Tumblr media
You opened your eyes to a room that you weren't familiar with. You glanced around. You were alone here. The thoughts of what might have happened scared you. But then you remember Icy, Darcy, and Stormy being able to spell you asleep. You sat up against the pillows. You were still weak. The door opened and you frowned seeing who it was. It was Valtor. The one that said he would bring you to him. You were tricked by the Trix's.
He watched you as you were in deep thought. He was drawn to you. You were a sight for sore eyes. He wanted to keep you here at this moment forever. He then walked over to the bed and sat on the bedside where you laid. He pushed a loose hairpiece behind your ear and smiled.
"You are my mercy.... and you won't be escaping anytime soon. I placed my mark on you. Not to control you but to make sure you know where you belong." He spoke. You frowned.
"Seems as if that is really controlling me." You shot back. He chuckled.
"I guess so..." He trailed off. He reached to the table side and got the necklace. "As for this jewelry piece, I offer it to you. There will be more to come as long as you don't fight back to extreme measures." He smirked. He wanted you to fight back. He loved seeing you fight him. You were a drug to him.
Weeks passed and soon you got used to being there. Often Icy, Stormy, and Darcy would visit you and tell stories. You saw a different side of them. They were just made by evil forces. By the witches to continue their work. You were quite impressed. Valtor came every night to sleep next to you. When he wouldn't you often wonder if they had finally got him and that you would be stuck here.
One day you were reading when you heard a loud boom and Valtor screaming for Darcy and Icy and Stormy to do something. You ran to the door and pulled on the handle. You focused your magic on it and it soon opened. You ran down the halls. You found Valtor and Trix fighting against the Winx. You transformed and stayed hidden. After all, you needed to be careful. You took the dust from your wings and removed the mark.
You felt free. You quickly flew in front of the Winx and Specialists. You glared at Valtor.
"You won't hurt them." You declared and got your magic and hit him directly knocking him back. Your eyes were white and filled with light. The place lit up. It would be this light for now. The girls hugged you and were glad that you are alive. You explained what happened.
Valtor took the chance to hit Bloom with a spell to surely kill her. You noticed and quickly pushed the Winx out of the way and instead got hit. You coughed and fell to your knees. Valtor went white as a ghost. You weren't supposed to be the one hit. The Trix and the Winx were in shock. They ran over to you. You were breathing slower. You laughed and coughed.
"Stay with us Fairy," Icy said. Flora just kneeled down and started to heal you but you shook your head.
"Don't heal me.." You muttered. Flora stopped and frowned. Valtor ran over pushing everyone away and picked you up.
"You aren't dying on my watch, my dear." He said panicked and tried the spell to fix his mistake. It ended up not working. You smiled at him before you closed your eyes taking your stay breath and going limp. He shook you. He truly did love you.
In the corner stood a hooded fairy watching with a sad smile. It was for the best. You would return again when it was time and when you were needed. You loved Valtor but you just couldn't stay anymore. You left swiftly for a new adventure. After all, Faragonda was helping you with the plan all along since you remembered who you was.
"Hogwarts here I come." You spoke once out of the castle and went away.

They met before season 1 and instantly knew they were meant to be a coven
They bonded over their curiousness over dark spells but it’s not until Icy tells them stories about Domino and what the Dragon Flame could do that they decide to try and find it. It started off as almost a joke until they learn that Icy’s family is connected to the Flame and they start taking it seriously
They are as close as the Winx
Lightning by Little Mix, Six Feet Under by Billie Eilish and Fix Me Up by Fin Argus/Sabrina Carpenter

NOO! Griffins redemption arc could've had SO MUCH potential, the show runners doesn't even know about!!
They could have do so much out of it! What lead her to Valtor in the first place (in my hc it has something to do with the diffrent teatment of dark and light magic users)? What happened that she left him in the end? What was that "change of heart"? Why did the CoL believed her when she came to them? The history of her and Faragonda that she vouched for her? And what happened AFTER the fight ok Domino that Faragonda and had that complicated relationship at the beginning of season 1?
And what did they? The gave her one, just ONE fu***** flashback scene and one scene with Valtor?! That lover to enemies plot was just got thrown out the window!!
Getting the entire Company of Light backstory was, for me, (one of) the best thing(s) on the show but for the writers was just a shortcut to creating personal conflict between Valtor and Griffin, Faragonda and Saladin so they can keep the action mostly contained to the territory of the schools and their surroundings. Sure, we go to other planets a lot in season 3 but the major battles with Valtor happen in CT, the Magix museum and at lake Roccaluce (and the final battle on Andros hardly counts either because the actual battle with Valtor was led inside his body).
Honestly, however you look at the Company of Light backstory, it just doesn't make sense. Griffin, Saladin and Faragonda were in the Company and then all proceeded to become heads of the most prominent schools in the Dimension? What are the odds of that actually happening? Especially considering Griffin's background. The fact that they apparently knew Bloom's parents but no one thought to tell her for... what reason exactly? Not to mention that Faragonda didn't appear to have a personal connection to the Dragon Fire and the Domino royal family in season 1 even if she started connecting the dots at some point. If she'd known Marion and Daphne, she should have instantly concluded what's going on the second she learned Bloom was having visions of Daphne and she would have suspected from the first moment she saw Bloom - an "Earth" fairy who's practically a copy of Marion with fire powers. Come on! And then you get to the timeline that just doesn't add up and the writers make that much worse every time they insist that the Company were the same age as Winx when they fought the Ancestral Witches, which is absolutely impossible because Marion and Oritel already had a teenage daughter at the time. The whole thing is just... Okay then. You know, a spin-off could fix most if not all of this. Just saying.
As for Griffin, same thing there. Like I said, I believe that making her Valtor's partner was to justify him taking over CT since that's where most of his battles with the Winx take place (and Bloom's talk with the Ancestral Witches that is questionable too - how are they connected to CT? Why can they be contacted through the crypt if they're not dead? If they can access this dimension, why haven't they tried to contact any of the witches in CT, especially back when the Trix were still students, so that they can get freed from Obsidian?). Plus, she's the only older witch character we have on the show, therefore she's the only one who would have served the forces of evil in her youth. Don't we all know that witches are just prone to seeking world domination? If you haven't grasped that yet, you clearly have not been watching the show carefully smh. /s
So they just slapped that backstory there. It's obvious that they didn't want to bother with it when you remember how stylized the entire flashback is. There was literally nothing in it to give you any concrete details about their partnership. It's basically an illustration of the concept that doesn't indicate anything specific about the characters and the relationship. And the offenses don't stop there. Griffin isn't allowed to do anything against Valtor, even though she should be the one person that knows him best and is therefore able to at least somewhat predict his moves aka would have the best chances to counter them. They let Faragonda fight him and blast him through a bunch of trees but Griffin gets nothing, even after he imprisoned her and zombified her students? The sheer indignity of that! And when you look at it, it's so clear why they did it - because they don't want anyone other than the Winx to be able to save the day. Winx save Andros, Winx save Alfea and Faragonda, Winx save CT (in 3x24). Never mind that Griffin has worked with Valtor under the Ancestral Witch that has illusion and darkness powers. Surely, she never would have considered he didn't just decimate CT but simply masked it. Especially since season 2 said CT is alive and both Griffin and the Trix could sense its energy and direct it to make the castle do what they want. Makes perfect sense! All the logistics in this show are a fucking joke.
I also believe that her joining Valtor had something to do with the issue of light vs dark magic. Even if we accept that there isn't outright hostility and bias against the witches everywhere (Magix is cool for example whereas other planets such as Eraklyon are more discriminatory against witches), I still think that light magic users are more propped up in the spotlight and respected. It would have bothered someone like Griffin and I can see her seeking out power to prove dark magic's place in the "ecosystem" is just as important. Tbh 1x08 kind of supports that and could give insight into the issue with Faragonda but I will get to that later. And from there I can see her getting close with Valtor based on the similarities between them. After all, Valtor is just as powerful as the Domino royals with their Dragon Fire but ignored and openly abhorred because of the darkness added to his power. He's not really considered a natural extension of the Dragon Fire (Faragonda calls him "a creature", which, I mean, fair but still). He's smart, cunning, ruthless, powerful. All things that would draw Griffin to him because she's so similar. It's not that hard to see why they'd work together, though the show would never admit to the superiority of light magic that is imposed on the world.
What's really annoying is the fact that the motivations for her betrayal are left up in the air. Again, Griffin is smart enough to have seen through the Ancestral Witches' plans. She would have known that they would bring about a lot of destruction. Why work for them only to decide later that she's not okay with it? If you consider the possibility that she's prideful enough to get herself into a mess like that, there would have had to have been a wake-up call for her to decide to switch sides similarly to what happened in season 1 with the Trix. But there she took measures against them before the catastrophe hit and she never suspected that they could try to take over the world - implying that she would not have waited around for the situation to get so dire to get herself out of it. Add to that that neither Griffin's, nor Valtor's words and behavior indicate that he (or the Ancestral Witches) did something out of their ordinary to alienate her. It's all worded as if one day she just realized out of the blue that she's helping a plan that could lead to the ruin of whole planets and she booked it. I am not buying that. Which leads to the only viable alternative - that someone else (Faragonda) changed her mind but that's also counterintuitive considering the situation in season 1. I'm not saying it's impossible, just that it would have needed more backstory to stick properly. That's not my headcanon but it would work really well with what we already saw on the show. It would also bring in maximum angst for Valtor because she left him because of Faragonda, and maximum angst for Griffin and Faragonda because of the way things proceed to develop between them. All that to lead us to them being protective of each other as we saw on the show and to intensify Valtor's anger and bring out his feelings on the betrayal to the surface.
Imo it makes the most sense that the Company (without Faragonda) decided to keep Griffin purely from a strategical PoV - to use her information on the Coven. All of that helped by Faragonda's unwavering belief that Griffin is not just spying on them for Valtor. And with time they would be convinced that she truly wants to help for the sake of the universe and fixing her mistakes.
Honestly, I can see how they could have fallen out after the tragedy on Domino. Now the show implies that no one has heard of the Company of Light, which, again, doesn't make sense if they fought the battle that lead to the destruction of an entire planet but okay. It would make sense that they got their positions as heads of the schools in relation to their heroism, exhibited during their time with the Company. Except that Griffin was helping the Coven first; she was less standing up to a rising threat and more fixing her own mistakes, plus she's a witch. She's mostly an afterthought when it comes to the Company's "victory" if not outright ignored and that bothers her. It's a nagging in the back of her mind for over a decade until it starts to undermine her relationship with Faragonda. And that leads us to her lines in 1x08 about the alliance between Winx and the Specialists possibly changing the balance of power. They could have even saved her more questionable characterization in the beginning of season 1 if they had tried to tie it into her past and then draw from that to add drama to the conflict between her and Valtor.
Again, imagine the tension of him taunting her about having to bow to people that would have cowered before her if she'd just stayed by his side. Imagine her obsession with him leading to comments from, say, leaders of the planets affected by his actions asking how reasonable it is to let Valtor's ex partner in charge of the strategy against him. Even if she's successful in foiling him, that just proves that she's too good at thinking like him. Maybe it's all a big con and they have been working together the whole time. Or if not, they made up after she became obviously disgruntled with the treatment she received after her involvement with the Company of Light. Imagine Valtor, pissed off about the insinuations that he would trust her again but still not passing up a chance to mock her that if everyone thinks she's working with him anyway, she would have been much better off if she'd actually been working with him still, but she's not. Imagine the strain on her relationship with Saladin and Faragonda when they see in her more and more of the woman she was when she was working with Valtor because she's trying to get in his head to win their game of cat and mouse. For them it's like seeing the trauma of the past coming alive right before their eyes while for her it's more of the thing that alienated her in the first place - doing everything to help only to have her efforts questioned and doubted, only to be accused - whether implicitly or explicitly - of being evil.
I understand that the writers wanted to keep the focus on the Winx but in that case, they should not have introduced the backstory that Valtor has with Griffin, Faragonda and Saladin. Valtor is undoubtedly the type of person that would pursue revenge vehemently and not fitting that into the plot works against his character. Add to that the fact that they made him overpowered from the start and had to scramble to write in ways for Winx to defeat him but that only made him look more and more pathetic the closer we got to the point where they had to defeat him. That whole thing would have worked much better if instead of weakening him (I mean, really? He allegedly gets so many spells that he can't even hold all of them in his own form but he's afraid of fighting the Winx himself and he can barely save his own ass - not through magic, but through trickery? Gtfo), they would have written the Winx foiling his plans with help from Griffin. Having her in Alfea once he concealed CT (and doing that earlier, in 3x18 instead of him just leaving and letting Griffin come back) would have been the perfect opportunity and perfect motivation to make her be out for his head if she weren't already. That is already the point in which they start to weaken him so it would have worked perfectly with the plot. Just add a few more scenes with Griffin advising the Winx what to do, or in the very least make Stella (we all know it would be Stella, especially since she's the one who freed Griffin from her cell in CT) jab him about Griffin's information doing wonders for them and helping them ruin his day. I'm definitely thinking here of the "[we will win] because you slept with her and now she's mad" scene from the season 1 finale of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Anyway, pour one out for all this wasted potential.

Zap finds it funny huh? I'm swapping him and Trix, it's a double swap. I'm just evil like that.
