Introducing Melli! A Tron User OC.

Background: Set after the events of Tron Legacy, Flynn’s Arcade opened back up to the public. One night after close, a part time employee, Melli, stumbled upon a hidden doorway leading down into a basement. From there, she discovered the console. One thing lead to another, and Melli found herself in a completely different world.

A very broken world.

The re-integration had failed and damn near bricked the system. Since then, it had been stuck in a reboot-crash cycle, until the activation of the aperture jump started it back up. Melli watched as the Grid loaded in real time, shocked and in awe. Not long after did she run into a program, and later , Flynn himself. The team now work on rebuilding the Grid to a new and improved digital frontier, running into both friends and foes along the way.

“Glitch Magnet”. She doesn’t find glitches; the glitches find her. Embracing this and applying her video game speedrunning experience and computer science knowledge, Melli had developed in Grid tools allowing her to clip through objects at will. Flynn thinks it’s innovative and creative, Tron and Dyson hate it, and Clu finds it mildly horrifying

I was sorting through the files on my external HD and discovered this buried in the TRON folder. Wish I could remember the artist's name, but I saved it a decade ago and never changed the file name. They were part of the TRON RP group I was in. I remember that much because this is art that they made for me of the version of Sam I was writing at the time. (EDIT: I think the artist's name was Artamis. Not 100% sure on that.)

Those whales? Are Sam's. They are anti-viral programs he designed to clean up the Sea of Simulation. I can't quite remember their names now, and those names never came up in play, but I think they were named after the space shuttles: Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavor. Don't remember why he went with those names anymore either but. Maybe Quorra named them. They cleaned the Sea by filtering the virus from it and were the test group to determine how efficient the process was.

Endeavor is probably the one investigating him. The 'Big Guys' were generally docile so Sam had little to fear from them even if he wasn't their User. The Sharks he designed to act as their Security detail were uh, not so friendly. Definitely made sure to flag Users as non-threats after his first in-person encounter with an overprotective Shark detail.

(There were other types of "Grid animals" he was experimenting with at the time as well. Sometimes, animals just do certain tasks better than human-shaped entities. And Quorra just really liked playing Fetch with the dogs, okay?)

Perhaps some day I'll go back and write a fic with them or something.

This was meant to be a sketch, I was not actually intending to fully render a whole art piece 🫣 that being said, I’m really happy how this turned out. Again I’m trying to leave my comfort zone with art, and this time’s big jump was rendering in legacy style with the lighting. I learned to appreciate orange 🍊

This was a completely self-indulgent piece with my OC Melli who has a whole entire story which I PROMISE I will get around to writing about, or at least a character sheet with her basic summary (and how she ended up with Clu of all people aljshvfskfjvh it’s complicated)
