Throughout the majority of his appearances from the 60s to the mid-or-late 2000s, Hank would usually serve this role to the Avengers, Defenders, X-Men, etc. in general or as a backup version of this whenever it was already filled; using his down-to-earth friendliness to keep everyone in check. Then he steadily began turning into a complete monster.

So, I picked this one for you because while I do enjoy plumbing the depths of X-Force Beast's depravity with you (my threads with you are some of my best writing, tbh), the original characterisation that birthed it is born from a completely false assumption. Ben Percy has gone on record saying that people who think that Beast was ever lovable have only read a small amount of comics, which . . . my guy.

I could go on for ages, tbh.

Like, there's a story to be told here. There's a story with real meta-textual weight to it about the fact that the heart of the X-Men, the moral, loving, kind-hearted, core of the X-Men, one of the members who best exemplifies their mission, has lost his way. But Percy can't grok that.

But you, dear friend, let me explore that in a delightfully twisted way, so I appreciate you immensely, and thank you for giving me the opportunity to show Hank with his dog. <3

How about Historical AU + Marriage of Convenience for Twelve & Clara?

Is this an actual historical AU or have they just gone somewhere in history in the TARDIS? (DW, always so hard to AU.)

(ok, i will TRY to play fair and make it an actual historical AU because I'm not writing it, but for the true answer, it would end up being more back in history + fake marriage of convenience for reasons. probably.)

Twelve is a rich stranger with his own carriage, Clara is trapped working as a governess in the dullest corner of the county but she desperately wants to travel.

Twelve insults her in six different ways and then proposes a marriage of convenience to solve their mutual problems.

Clara: "... what mutual problems? I'm the one who's trapped here, thank you."

Twelve: "Scary people keep trying to marry me for my fortune."

Clara: "hmm. .... wait. I'm not scary??"

Twelve: "You told me to be more polite or you wouldn't marry me, so I was trying not to mention it. Anyway, yes or no, deal ends tonight?"

Clara: "I would have to be mad to run away with the rudest stranger I've ever met!"

Twelve: "Oh, good, is that a yes?"

Ooooh I am loving the specificity of this. I think I have to put it at B purely because I haven't often found myself in a fandom/ship where this would be feasible, but I LOVE reading ships that have a long, complicated history with each other, and there are so many interesting ways to play with that idea. 1. Nightmare Fetishist: Blaire is a MASSIVE fan of pretty much anything scary. Horror movies, voodoo dolls, making fake gore. If it's scary or disturbing, she LOVES it.

2. Perky Goth: Blaire's got a love for the macabre and black clothing, but she's also a a very sweet and kind person. In fact, when she tried making fun with the goths, they kicked her out for getting TOO excited about spooky things.

3. Identical Stranger: When Blaire first met Luz, she looked almost exactly like Amity, the only difference being she had blonde natural hair and had blonde tips instead of the brown spot Amity has. While changing her look helped differentiate them, the two still have the same face and voice.

Modern AUs? How are those?

weirdly, A. I've said it before, but in every other fandom I've been in I've hated them, but for MDZS/CQL, I just.... can't resist. I think I'm too attached to the complexity and melancholy of canon to want to read fix-its that directly change the events (with some exceptions), but I also really like seeing what the characters do and become in a world with more options, and where they get to, you know, be happy

Coffee Shop AU and Awful First Meeting for Eight and Charley

Charley runs away in search of adventure and winds up working in a genteel tea shop, or a tea shop that was very dull and genteel before the worst customer ever runs in, asks wildly for a scone with jam and cream at once, because it's a matter of life and death. before being followed in by a bunch of rhinos carrying guns and the tea shop burns down.

(Of, course, the the Doctor saves Charley from the fire, but she should have died in it. He really should do something about his weakness for scones. It's got him into trouble again...)
