preliminary conclusions about Suzume in ep45:
It's entirely the wording.
I don't have a problem with having one domestic-driven woman in an ensemble cast like kingoh's. The problem is when it was Suzume, someone who was so far written as cunning, ambitious and endurant, the transition needs a strong base. Right now, it looks like Suzume is just going with what the men in her life wanted, as we could only interpret she made the choice to stay behind the camera.
I believe Suzume's confession should've been motivated by her sense of home and country. She should've expanded on what a "woman of Toufu" means. Instead of complying to "her brother"'s will, it should've been as a citizen of Toufu, her king trusted her, and she'll gladly take up the mantle even if it means sacrificing her personal happiness.
Her choice to stay by Racules could've come from "home before country". She has found her temple - wants to build her own temple - prove herself in a personal domain before becoming responsible for all families in Toufu. Then it could even tie into Gira's "everyone's a small king" philosophy.
Or she could've rejected the throne because of her ambition. She has wanted the throne for herself, but she knew there's a reason Iroki chose Kaguragi instead of her. She wanted power, but she also wanted her lover. She knew she had to choose between her country or a traitor for a husband, and after years of deception, she doesn't want to lie to the people that she did all this for in the first place. Or that it's her redemption for letting Dugded loose during the six months of the kings' absence, as Queen of a puppet Shugoddom.
This is the elephant in the room. I have more regarding the episode's pacing and contrasts, how the theme of inheritance was handled, as well as Suzume's trajectory in consideration of the whole series. I have nitpicks about both eng subs so an extra paragraph about translation. I want to respond to some other angles but don't know when for now.

Even since Michael's heavenly ascend, not just the music industry but, quite frankly, the entertainment industry as a whole has been left with a massive void that I don't believe will be fulfilled in the near future or ever again. That man had a star power equivalent to three Galactuses at their most powerful. You will never witness someone like that ever again, not in this lifetime nor the next one. He was and still is one of a kind.
#michael jackson#txt#michael is one of the very very few celebs i actually care about even though he is no longer here with us physically#how come this man has been dead for nearly a decade and a half and he is still more relevant than the most relevant LIVING celebs rn????#that's how you know that if he was still around people would go just as insane over him as they did decades earlier#michael is the biggest celebrity artist performer entertainer of all time. there is no debate around this topic#the mj fandom on this site is practically dead but i know there are a few of you that will come across this and agree wholeheartedly#i manifest the biopic being a massive commercial and critical success#it will gross over $1 billion at the box office and become one of the most profitable movies of the 2020s as well as a staple in biopics#specially the musical ones. we are gonna make that happen#i mean we already do a far superior job to his actual goddamn estate so we can easily turn this into an overnight hit#not a sleeper hit/cult movie but an INSTANT hit#the closest people we got michael's level of legendary fame are paul mccartney and madonna but even they don't make as much noise#i'm (not) sorry but michael was truly built different. he was on a category of his own#a category so incredibly monstrously and insanely high that i don't believe anyone else will ever be able to reach it#no swifties taylor swift isn't on michael's level either#her level of fame is closer to madonna's at her peak#a massive star but not on michael's level. michael was practically worshipped outside of america even in the most racist anti-black#cultures you can think of. he broke racial barriers like that#and madonna was still bigger than taylor in her heyday lol#so what does that tell you?#i'm sorry but being famous was far more impactful back then than it is now#social media changed the dynamic between the public and celebs forever

venting in tags about gender n shit (long as hell) (u can comment and talk 2 me as always :3)
#okay so i got a really masc haircut about a month ago and i know it's just a haircut but holy shit has it changed EVERYTHING for me#like.... i've always leaned masc except 1) before i came out 2) when i was actively in love with someone who i knew liked femmes#and they always described me as a fem. because that's what i showed her. because i wanted to be with her.#but lowkey whenever i'm in a not-impressing-anyone raw-dogging-life-no-crush era i always resort to a very masc style#like masc being my default and i'd only lean fem to impress people whether it's for love or peer pressure in a specific setting#like ''dressing up'' has always been a form of drag to me. like something i HAD to do to fit in or impress my parents (scott favor core)#but ever since this haircut i've realized... i could just BE masc innately like i really don't have to be womanly if i don't want to#which i usually don't. again i have only ever dressed fem for other people. but it's not even being masc that attracts me on its own#it's like. being masc in a distinctly lesbian way. as in whenever i look in the mirror i don't wanna be like a Guy i wanna be a dyke.#like lesbian as a gender identity too sort of thing honestly. okay i've been waffling but basically i sort of want to call myself butch#but i don't know if i like... can?? if i'm allowed to???#everyone always says it's MORE than just wearing boy clothes and not wearing makeup and having short hair (which i already do all those)#i mean i've always id'd as genderqueer because it literally just means gender weird and i experience gender in a queer way#what's probably the most telling is that my friends (all queer) CALL me a butch lesbian#like every time they do i feel really internally validated. it's not just my clothes but my personality too ig is what people tell me#i have a higher pitched voice relatively speaking but apparently the way i talk is quote ''very clockably into women''#which?? gender euphoria asf. my best friend specifically he (gay trans guy) always uses butch to describe me very intuitively#people have also noticed that i ''transitioned'' in all aspects except hormonally. like ppl have commented and noticed my masculinzation#but at the same time i always feel rly haunted by my ex relationships because one wanted me to be more masc#(she's the one who came out as straight and would treat me like a man) which i didn't like and i didn't like playing up being fem either#bc now it feels like she (butch) won't believe me if i called myself butch too bc she remembers me being femme#idk i feel like there's her voice in my head all the time that sees everything i do through her eyes (i'm lowkey still in love)#i feel like even though this comes so naturally to me i must be putting on a performance#even though i've actually read stone butch blues and done research into the history and i truly love and id with the culture like i rly do#that im still just a sad imitation of a butch lesbian and can never really be a part of it because i used to enjoy dressing up sometimes#like it's so stupid but can i still be butch if i wore a dress to prom and i think i looked good in it??#even though i was envious of my friends who wore suits?? that i used to try goth makeup?? that i liked long dresses??#that i enjoyed stacked necklaces and rings on every finger???#and tbh ALL OF THAT CAME FROM A CONCIOUS EFFORT TO FEMINIZE MYSELF IN JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGHSCHOOL WHEN I WAS 16#because omfg it was 2 months before junior prom and i was worried that i was too masc and wanted to get comfortable with being fem

it's so funny when ppl are like "bo-katan is such a hypocrite she was literally a terrorist", that's exactly what makes her interesting. if she hadn't had a role in dividing mandalore her dedication to reuniting it would be the most boring, one-dimensional bit of characterization in the world

thinks abt "you know, leon... when he was young, he didn't have many friends. he was probably too busy helping around the house, & taking care of his little brother, & didn't get to play with kids of his age much. he'd sometimes spend time with [sonia], his childhood friend, but that's all. but then... one day, he met a charmander. ever since he learned how to battle with pokemon, he's been surrounded by so many people, friends & rivals alike. yes... pokemon really have expanded his world."

Truly fucking insane to me how even some trans people have drunk the gender essentialist koolaid and think that trans men are like, inherently arms of the patriarchy and oppressors. Just like believing all cis men are each, individually responsible for patriarchy. Isn’t the point of feminism that the system and people’s unconscious upholding of the system are the thing to be criticizing?? Gender essentialism is still gender essentialism even if you do it to trans people.
I don’t know why people don’t understand that treating any group as a monolith whose experiences are all the same is like. Bad and harmful. Trans men are men but they are not cis men. Many of us have experienced girl / womanhood enforced on us by society and deeply understand the struggle. I don’t see why it’s harmful to acknowledge the fact that trans men experience misogyny!!!! Lots of trans men haven’t or won’t transition! I promise you even if we are men, see ourselves as men, the vast majority of society will not.
I really hate infighting and “calling out” whole sections of the community, and I guarantee I’m not talking about 90% of trans women who are normal but that other 10% act like trans men have betrayed women by “choosing to be men”. Isn’t that like, 1) literally gc / terf logic and 2) implying that trans people just up and choose their gender one day (not saying that some don’t but like. Being trans is a deeply personal thing that’s often not a choice.)
This is thinking that makes trans men guilty to be trans men. We’re used to hearing it from radfems but to hear it from people who are supposed to be our allies??? From people who we have something so deeply in common with? It fucking sucks!!!
#sorry I just saw three whole Twitter posts that literally were like ALL TRANS WOMEN ARE BEAUTIFUL AND FUNNY AND AWESOME#and all trans men are stupid and stinky and bad#trans men continue to be punching bags every three months for some fucking reason#I’m not disagreeing that trans women are put under a lot more pressure societally and that fucking sucks#but literally whenever trans men speak up we ARE dismissed.#our struggles may not be the same but they still fucking exist#this is mostly a vent but feel free to (civilly and constructively) talk to me about where my blind spots might be#I’m taking American cultural anthropology and we just learned the word intersectionality and I don’t think people truly understand that#the intersection between “being men’ and “being raised as female’ is very real#I think what that male model said was stupid in terms of like#thinking that trans women are to blame for being so visible#but what he said about the general way people are raised in gendered ways is not bullshit.#culture affects us from literally all angles and it’s wild to think that a trans man could just flip a switch one day and forget#being constantly put down and told to be kind and put others feelings above your own and be scared of being assaulted and blah blah blah#being raised as a girl shit. unless you transitioned as a child and had super supportive parents that shit is REAL#my post#trans#jfc even if you were raised in the right gender medical misogyny affects us too! our bodies are policed just like women’s are#also lol I’m not saying I just learned the term or idea intersectionality it’s just interesting to learn about it academically

gonna just remind everyone that it is perfectly valid for a gay man to have dated a woman on his journey to discovering and determining his sexuality and it doesn’t make him any less valid as a gay man 👍🏻

i was going to capitalize jesus' and god's pronouns throughout the essay as a visual demonstration of the way some of the stories juxtapose christian divinity with other things so there's something reinforcing the discussion other than dense repetitive text, but the thing is. jcs jesus is not a He/Him. that's a he/him. am i wrong??? i feel like that's the whole point. so now i am going to add some kind of note somewhere to clarify why and when i address him as which. so basically i am making jesus a pronoun carrd
#i think that like you could argue that jcs jesus' divinity comes from being a pop culture/religious icon rather than god or like his soul#but like jesus is not god in jcs#god is almost as much a mystery to jesus as all the other apostles#whereas the other works that do use jesus as a vessel for christian divinity blur the line between himself and god much more#jcs jesus isn't even that omniscient he doesn't even know he's going to resurrect. and he DOESNT resurrect#i feel like the whole idea is that they are all victims of the divine/the process of becoming icons#once they die they are truly dead which is why jesus doesn't come back#he IS dead. the MAN is dead and replaced by the neon led cross and the classical paintings#and judas is killed in the name of constructing a larger than life traitor figure#to me.#anyway the point is jesus theoretically BECOMES a He/Him after jcs has ended#but only because jesus the man has died. to become that kind of icon you must revoke your humanity#i dont even go into this that much in the essay because it's not about jcs it's about judas' function as a motif in various Medias i like#but i touch on the themes of jcs and He/Himming jesus in that section would confuse that discussion . i think#like last days jesus is definitely divine. you see why He/Himming would add something there yes??? jcs has a diff relationship w the divine#college tag#judas essay#THE COLLEGE EXPERIENCE??#me.txt#god i dont even know if i want people to see this i just had to let someone know#another essay in the tags

"Hello-oo hello-oo, Ha-ku-noo!" Tanba says in a drawn out, sing-songy manner upon suddenly appearing behind her, having emerged from a cloud of black feathers with a wide smile on his face that was only outdone by his more bubbly demeanor. "Firstly I absolutely adore this new look you've got going on," Tanba says while making camera hand gestures at Hakuno, going through the process of repositioning himself around her at multiple angles too, as if he were actually taking pictures, "it's really, 'you', like this is the Definitive Hakuno Experience right here! Elegant, pretty, and mostly, POWERFUL!! The whole package."
Tanba then briefly transforms into a crow, flies over to a nearby table, and then transforms back into himself, where he can be seen sitting cross legged ON the table (because why sit on chairs like a normal person).
Tumblr media
"Secondly, BIG secondly, I've been meaning to ask, did a servant by the name of 'Nobunaga' ever get summoned to this little moon party of ours up here? If they did, would you know where they are?" Tanba, still bubbly and smiling, summons and begins spinning around one of his golden blades."I just wanna talk with them!"
sharp senses are quick to act ‎ — ‎ immediately turning around at the slight sense of a presence behind her. ‎with the storm of feathers of tanba's arrival, ‎an arm instinctively raises to cover herself; not that that was needed. ‎( not to mention, ‎she doubt it'd be all that bad. ‎feathers are soft, ‎ so to get hit by one must be... ‎ probably pleasant. ‎maybe. ) ‎a mere look is what is then given in response to servant's form, ‎the only sign of a response from the moon's master being the shift of weight from one leg to another.
hello-oo hello-oo, ‎ha-ku-noo... ‎ that's the first she's ever heard of that greeting. ‎it's not bad— ‎ rather, ‎ quite refreshing in terms of tune and originality. ‎ and the use of her name as well, ‎ not just master but hakuno.
Tumblr media
“ ‎ ‎ ...heya heya, ‎ tanba. ‎ ‎” ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ it's not as sing-songy as his. ‎ still spoken in the same calm monotone of her regular speaking voice, ‎ but an effort was made to mimic his rhythmn scheme ! ‎ ‎just as he's used her name, ‎she'd use his own true name as well. a nod to the heroic spirit is given too, ‎her own much more subdued method of showing enthusiasm to the other's presence.
the sudden barrage of compliments do take her aback though, ‎ much much more than his own sudden appearance. her back straightens unconsciously in response, ‎legs closed together in a more formal pose as her arms follow suit with hands overlapping each other in a polite ladylike pose. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎“ ‎ ‎uh, ‎ ‎” and yet, ‎a demure ‎ ( —odd !! ) ‎sound leaves her before she could contain it, ‎ and with his over the top show of being a... ‎ papparazzi of some sorts, ‎hakuno felt the need to join in on the act.
such was done with a hand raised with a peace sign, ‎contrasting in such a peculiar way with her still deadpan face. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ “ ‎ ‎ thank you. ‎i don't know what that definitive hakuno experience is— ‎ ‎ ” ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ not knowing herself ‎ / ‎ or just why elegant, ‎pretty and powerful would be used as descriptors for herself. ‎ah, ‎ well. ‎ she knows she hid her pitiful pathetic self away from others. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ “ ‎ ‎ ‎—if you think of me that way though, ‎ i'm glad. ‎ ‎ ” ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ even if the sentiment doesn't make itself shown on her face, ‎ it's hinted in the subtle inflection of her voice.
for all her regal appearance, ‎she doesn't scold nor chastise the assassin for his showy way of sitting though. ‎ and for as graceful and proper as she is, ‎ hakuno kishinami is a free spirit that held a great value to freedom and one's own free will. ‎ that being said, ‎it'd be reckless to have that slip into a fatal permissiveness. ‎ ‎ ‎ “ ‎ ‎whatever unresolved business you have with nobunaga is yours, ‎ but i ask that you think about your reason to— ‎ talk with them. ‎ ‎” ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎should the two seek a battle, ‎ then she'd respect their wishes; ‎ but should the two put themselves in danger for no good reason, ‎ then she ought to intervene. ‎ ‎it was as simple as that, ‎really.
a curious hum follows, gaze settling on the golden blade. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎“ ‎ ‎are you fighting with hatred or anger, ‎ i wonder. ‎ ‎ ” ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎that, ‎ she felt was the most important question to this. ‎while she knew of the history between momochi tanba and oda nobunaga ‎ — ‎ along with the history of many others, ‎ the master having a great knowledge of the myths and legends and tales of old ‎— ‎that didn't give her the insight of their own personal feelings. ‎at the very least, ‎she hoped that tanba could properly understand that. ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ ‎ “ ‎ ‎and to answer your questions... ‎ ‎”
Tumblr media
still stoic-faced, ‎hakuno purposely assumes a thinking pose ‎ ( it's a pose she quite frequents when in deep thought though, ‎actually ) . ‎a few seconds pass, ‎ and her closed hand uncurls to allow a slender digit to rest by the curve of her chin. ‎ she turns to tanba then and simply answers:
“ ‎ ‎ it's a secret. ☆ ‎ ‎”
unprompted, ‎always accepting ! ‎ ‎@doomxdriven ‎♡
