[NSH has beaten Akama (The Idiot (1951)), Libby Day (Dark Places), Sally Swing (Betty Boop), Shrimp (The Upturned), Oopsy Bear (Care Bears (2007 series)), Hikaru (Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu), and Diggory Graves (Hello from the Hallowoods)] They're just a silly little guy. A jokester. Significant harassment if you will. Anyway, a more in depth run down: They're a city sized supercomputer built by a Buddhist adjacent society to figure out how to transcend the 'Great Cycle' (semi-metaphorical cycle of death and rebirth) in a safer way than the previous method (submerging oneself in the 'void sea' which is a mysterious golden liquid that dissolves whatever it touches). Despite being built for this express purpose NSH never really shows a pressing interest in ascension, even cracking jokes about those who are still looking for a solution. Whether this is due to indifference, dislike of, or humor to cope with being unable to ascend is not clear and really up to interpretation. Example: NSH: I wish them super good luck in that endeavor. How is it going to happen? Have the overseers gnaw through bedrock until their entire can crashes down in the void sea? BSM: Please be respectful when speaking of the Void Sea. Grey Wind, where did you hear this? CW: I really shouldn't say. He's going to attempt some sort of breeding program. Thought you might want to know. NSH: Haha with the slimers, lizards and etceteras? Surely the answer was in a lizard skull all along! He's very flippant, but does care very intensely for those close to him. NSH: Moon? It's me again. NSH: I do not know if you are receiving these. Please signal in any way you can. NSH: I need to talk to you. I need to know you're okay. NSH: … NSH: Its difficult for us to assist you over this distance. NSH: Even more difficult for us to do anything in the midst of these tantrums. NSH: Were going to try everything that we can. NSH: Just hold on a little longer. (Context for previous convo: They genetically engineered a super organism of a slugcat (the species you play as in Rain World) to help reset his coworker/sibling after her collapse and restart her systems. He was so desperate to fix her that he accidentally messed up the slugcat's (Hunter) genetic code and as a result it became riddle with the Rot (relatively similar to aggressive cancer) :( which parallels his other coworker/siblings condition who also has the rot. ) He canonically uses he/they pronouns too! Nonbinary swag! NSH has major internet troll vibes. He has sent a data pearl of "something distasteful" to his neighbors on several(?) occasions and causes chaos. [Granger has beaten Chopfyt (Oz), Wolfman (Darkwood), Gaap Goemon (Mairimashita! Iruma-kun), Forest Friend (Gris), Turnip (Chicory: A Colorful Tale), Gary (Faith the Unholy Trinity), and Stag Malinay (Krystar First Fragment)] so granger is the main character of the indie game "NeverHome" Chapter one, which is only $1 on Steam, is called NeverHome: Hall of Apathy. if ur a fan of young protags being put in RPG maker horror games, then this is the game for you!! so granger is just that… she wakes up to find herself in a strange, hostile world. she, along with the friends she makes, must solve the various puzzles before them while creatures are out to kill them… and along the way they can uncover the secrets of these never ending halls… her dynamics with the cast is also super fun… each character gets their moment or moments with granger. and what's so cute is that there's unique art for each pair that highlights the fact you cant get through these halls alone!! she also has her own theme song!! here!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_vwtmIj5cw it's called cyclical tragedy AND HERE IS AN ANALYSIS OF THE THEME!! MUSIC THEORY!!! written by my good friend @HIEMIOLA "cyclical tragedy" embodies the protagonist, granger, through the music theory behind the track and ties itself back into the main track as well. to begin with an overview of the track, the key is D minor and hte time signature is 3/4. the piece begins with a broken minor third starting from the tonic. that is, it begins on the main note and moves along the main chord, D to F. the next set of notes are C to E, which is shifted down a step. the phrase repeats again, this time D to F, then G to E, which is an inverse movement from the original sequence. even in this first part, we could tell that the protagonist begins from square 1 with a simple pattern, then tries it again when it works. however, the inverse breaks that expectation of repetition, thus showing the diverse variations of solutions she comes up with using just the tools she has (the two notes moving in thirds). just like the game, she is given a handful of objects as well as a knife to defend herself and solve the mysteries of the world she exists in. with her creative uses of the items given to her, she continues on her way through the plot. we will keep moving. the melody begins. true to the title of the track, the melody cycles around the same beginning note, D, that she always returns to at her square 1. this is a nod to the save states she is allowed to keep to make sure that we the players don't lose the game, but it also references the health bar that appears as a circle around her avatar. the melody, mapped out, is also moving in an up-down wave movement across the sheet music. granger is creative with the knife she has and the quest items she obtains throughout the story, but she is not entirely reckless. rather, she knows when it is time to return to the safe rooms to rest. to time her returns requires skill because she must run to cover without being caught by varying her path so the enemies don't corner her as she tries to return to the room. most of the time, she is successful, shown through the consistent return to the beginning note. let's keep going. i would like to turn your attention to the main theme briefly. in the bass notes, you can hear arpeggios and outlined chords. this makes up the bulk of the accompaniment in the main game theme. [mod note: the rest of the essay, and some more propaganda, is continued under a cut because tumblr will not process more text than this in an indent. sorry to split it up, please continue below for the rest of the essay and additional propaganda (including art) !]

the third variation of granger's theme also has arpeggiated chords in the accompaniment while the melody features broken chords. at this stage, the pattern switches to eigth notes instead of the quarter notes at first. with greater movement and heightened senses, she runs throughout world and befriends other people, thus interacting further with the environment. while she isn't exactly someone we would call open, she is respectful to the people she first meets and has no problems with asking them for help when she needs it. because of her openness to working together, she speeds up her progress by asking for aid at obstacles that would be too difficult for her to overcome on her own, such as asking a teammate to break things, move things, or reach into smaller holes. fusing the main theme elements with her own theme marks this step as the inciting incident that sets her on the path to escape from this world. we'll continue.

continuing the same part, we hear some secondary fifths. i'm not entirely sure if this is what you call it, but it is a nod to the parallel key, D major. depending on what theory class you take, this could also be considered the other half of the key. i dont know how else to describe it, but i digress. these are glimpses to different dialogue options she could take, glimpses to a different key or a different ending. because this game only has one chapter ending so far, we are unsure of what other paths granger will end up in; we only know that there are certainly other endings she will experience, only to begin the cycle again when the save state is loaded for players to reach another ending. both A major and G major are chords that signify different choices that may lead her elsewhere only for her to return back to the tonic or main note, D. despite this, she keeps going, as will we.

at the midpoint of the track, we see a quick shift in patterns. instead of upward leaps in the notes, the melody falls in stepwise motion. true to the plot, this is another turning point of the game when she is forced to make a choice: continue or stop. after facing the spoiler event, her once determined personality is challenged as she struggles to keep herself and her team together. despite being the headstrong protagonist who spearheaded solutions, even now she finds herself doubting and taking smaller steps, smaller risks.

even after all of this, she rises to the challenge as the melody returns to its beginning sequence. true to a protagonist she gets up again despite the events that transpired and keeps her team moving in their lowest points. the thirds return as she finds more objects to solve more puzzles to open more rooms to save more friends. this repeating part of the track only solidifies her resolve as the piece ends with a broken chord in the main key, her key, of D minor. despite everything that transpired, she stayed true to herself."

the game is also so, so charming with the art, music, and story made by the same person… its so clearly loved and full of passion!! i love listening to the game's ost on occassion!! since it's all on youtube!

Clear Sky is fine compared to this one-dimensional bullshit we made up

Clear Sky continues to guilt trip his son, whine and cry when a vote doesn't go his way because his victims don't trust his newest lie, and Gray Wing walks off so we can introduced to Slash.

Slash is Evil Foreigner Villain 2. Like One Eye, the narrative function of this character is to serve as our antagonist and make Clear Sky look better in comparison.

Don't think about how Clear Sky is the most vicious character in the series with a CURRENT body count of 3 direct murders (Misty, Bumble, Rainswept Flower), nearly a dozen more under his orders, a few counts of physical assault including smacking a kitten to the ground in anger, and ongoing emotional abuse of his own child. That was all "good intentions," the writers are gonna show you what they think "REAL" evil is!

...being more openly mean about the same exact thing Clear Sky did in Book 3. Hitting a kid for questioning why they're making enemies.

But nonononono guys this is UNIQUELY BAD we swear!!!!!

You can tell because Slash doesn't insist this is for Fern's own good somehow. He's just openly twirling his mustache instead of preparing a speech about self-defense or whatever. Their weakness is that they're "ruled by fear," unlike us Clan cats who are kept together by..... something else i guess.

What ELSE do you even call it, if you're held together by the idea that there's a constant barrage of bloodthirsty foreigners you need to defend yourselves against? Or an abusive tyrant who threatens, beats, or kills you for standing up to him? You might want to twist this story to say, "Ok well it's saying that Clear Sky USED to be this bad, but hes not now" and id tell you that you're writing fanfiction. That's just not what's on the page. It does not draw that parallel and Clear continues to be a bastard without consequence. Read the shitty arc you keep telling me is actually sooo deep.

I think the statistical implications of how most tumblr polls work is totally fascinating and really should be acknowledged by people who compile data they get from tumblr polls to show facts

i am such a huge statisticshead it really interests me i love data analysis. it kills me when people let the sanctity of a good old fashioned poll get taken out back and shot. BUT IT DOESNT HAPPEN ANYWHERE MORE FREQUENTLY THAN ON THIS SITE

The bias on polls is INSANE. "Voter fraud" game is INSANE.,shithole bananas. Ok let's take a favourite obscure character poll for example. let's say it's relatively small scale that receives about 400 voters per poll at leaston each of its rounds. people who are into smaller fandoms seek a blog that runs a poll about their small fandom. they Nominate their own candidate. when this candidate appears in the polls, because of how tumblr polls function (they appear on your dash from people you follow already, voting takes literally no more than 10 seconds if youre not super divided and then youre on your way. no need to register a name, or any other details. polls can be botted, you can use alternative accounts, there is no showing up in person.) the success of the candidate may almost entirely depend on the dedication of the person who nominated that character to promote and spread "propoganda" as its always called, to their followers and friends who may have had no actual previous opinion of this character. IT IS THE PICTURE OF A NIGHTMARE BIAS. they could not be less from representing the opinion of a general public or an actual body of people. It's less like gathering statistics and more like a popularity contest? but you're not shown all your options! maybe the opposing candidate is great but just doesn't have anybody who is obsessed with them to write a 3000 word essay on how they're so great! music blogs are really widespread too, either for knowing music or liking it, so that reduces bias, but still; people on tumblr are often young, often queer often leftist id say, they will be inclined by these demographics to recognise/like certain artists or genres less, certain genres more. like what im imagining is old, classic (but obscure and not trendy) bands might get voted out in favour of a broad-appeal modern artist. Top 5 MBS Characters:

Kate Wetherall. I. Was. OBSESSED with Kate as a kid. I do prefer her in the books but I love her show incarnation as well!! The weird girl energy, the autism, the ADHD, it's all off the charts. Fav line from book Kate is still "Well of course it's not funny, but what do you want me to do? Cry?" List of sentences that changed my brain chemistry as a child.

Not to be a basic bitch, but Nicholas Benedict. Oh my god, I loved him in the books already -- we love to see a "wise, all-knowing mentor" character with actual personality and limitations -- but the direction the show took his character in was truly inspired. His discussion with Reynie about the white knight in the books is PEAK.

Reynie Muldoon. Understandably, since he's the POV character, he was the one I actually related to most as a kid. I love the "always trying to stay calm" thing he has going on, and how the narrative never punishes him for trying to be kind and genuine and earnest even though so many books and shows nowadays feel the need to equate niceness with naivete.

My funky little Milligan. Yet another character who I loved in the books already and adored seeing more of in the show. I especially love how much more autistic they made this man. "Geez, how 'bout a hello?" "........Hello." / "I'll be back." [vanishes] [reappears] ".......I'm back." King shit. And no matter what incarnation it is, his reunion with Kate will always reduce me to tears. The memory that was so deeply ingrained into his brain that even Curtain couldn't take it from him... was just that memory of his little girl asking him to go to the mill again... AUGH.... 😭

Constance Contraire. Like Kate, I prefer Book!Constance, but I adore the way the show portrayed her as well. First of all, she's hilarious. Second of all, while she's often being irrational, she also can be a voice of reason in some ways, and we love that. Funky little psychic child. And I just ADORE how kindly the book treats her. Even when she's getting on the other characters' nerves in a big way, the book never suggests that she's a detriment to them, that she needs to sit down and shut up, that they would be better off if they ditched her, or any number of other things that a less understanding narrative would be claiming.

Top 5 Persona Ships

Hamugis. Ohhh my god. MFW the overwhelming guilt I feel for having potentially ruined someone's life by sealing Death inside of her as a child slowly transforms into admiration as I meet her again and begin to see her as a strong leader and then love as I begin to discover my own humanity through her. MFW "I don't want you to love someone else... I don't want that, even if that's what would make you happy!!" MFW I touch my robot GF's literal heart and leave an indelible mark on her very being. Also uhh that one post. "I do not understand hookup culture!!! Die in my arms!!!" yeah. Aigis and Kotone for number one love story of all time.

Akimina. Much less canon interaction to go off of with these two but stay with me here. T4T autism4autism. I love Akihiko's earnestness and Minato's bluntness and how they combine to make a relationship that lacks miscommunication while also leaving a lot unsaid because neither is much one for conversation. I like the idea of Akihiko's intense desire to be strong to protect someone playing off of Minato's much more reserved, almost lackadaisical attitude, despite Minato's strength, and I think it would be so interesting to watch them move in opposite directions -- Akihiko learning to cut himself some slack and trust others rather than thinking he has to protect everyone alone, while Minato learns to break out of his shell and actually care about those around him and want to protect them -- while they also, at the same time, are learning almost identical lessons about relying on other people.

Ulamaya. The two girlies of all time. I adore how Ulala's combined jealousy and affection for Maya play off each other and how Ulala is one of the only characters in the game who feels like she's fully seeing Maya as she is -- a human like any other, even if she presents herself as eternally optimistic and strong so that others can lean on her. Their relationship feels so... equal. If that makes sense. Which, as much as I appreciate KatsuMaya, can feel a little lacking in other Maya ships imo, bc it always feels like other characters (ESPECIALLY the masked circle) tend to idolize Maya. And Maya's forgiveness of Ulala's betrayal... what's that one Hozier line... "I'd be the immediate forgiveness in Eurydice." Yeah.

Pegoryu. God I just love how ride-or-die Ryuji is right off the bat. You meet him, have a near-death experience with him, and ten minutes later he's shoveling more food onto your plate insisting that you need to eat more. Even before then, it may be Akira who saves Ryuji from Kamoshida, but it's Ryuji who tackles him away, yells at him to run and save himself, who gives Akira the faith in humanity that the rest of the world had eroded away at that point.

Tie between Saoriham and Kannao. Saori's social link is one of the best parts of Persona 3 straight up, and Kanji and Naoto are just so goddamn cute together.

The knocking was so loud that I fell off of my bed from the shock that ran through me, waking me up fully as if I’d been tapped by a cattle prod. The clock read half past midnight, which meant I was either about to be raided by the police or someone was trying to get in, and I wasn’t happy about either.

I checked my camera, but there wasn’t anyone at the door, so I chalked it up to teenagers or something and was just about to get back into bed when the knocking happened again. Again, I checked my camera, and, again, there was no one at my door, but the knocking continued.

At this point, I wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or there was something wrong with my camera, but I wasn’t going to chance it. I tried to call the police on my cell, but the call never connected. Panicking because the knocking wouldn’t stop, I tried to pull up my local PD online to try to maybe reach them that way, but, again, nothing connected. Nothing I tried to use to contact help worked.

Finally at a point where my annoyance overrode my terror, I pulled out my pistol from the side bedside safe and headed for the front door. Weapon at the ready, I used my off hand to open the door slightly making sure to hold my pistol in such a way that I could get a round off immediately if I needed to.

As soon as the door cracked open, my whole body felt as if the very essence of my being was leaving it. Suddenly, I was too weak to hold the pistol or even stand. I fell to the ground, and the pistol bounced across my living room floor as a creature in a well-tailored black three-piece suit entered my home, closing the door behind it, and stepping over me to take a seat in an armchair.

“Stand,” it commanded, though I never saw what was probably its mouth move. Rather, I felt the command in my body, and my body obliged without my consent. “Sit.” I did so, taking a seat in the opposite armchair. “You are Gabriel.”

Swallowing down my fear, I slowly shook my head. “No,” I managed to eek out, “I am Ted, Ted Danvers.”

“No.” The creature’s voice echoed through my body, reverberating my very essence. “You are Gabriel,” it stated, “And it is time.”

“I… I don’t understand.” Glancing around, I tried to reach for my wallet sitting on my coffee table to show the creature my ID, but I found I was paralyzed by the creature’s presence. “M-my name is Ted. You have the wrong person.”

“Right person,” it replied, leaning back in the chair and casually crossing its legs, “Wrong incarnation.”

I stared at its face. Where a head should be, there was only a skull with bottomless pools of black for eyes and gaping slits for a nose. It’s mouth was all teeth and never moving. It was horrifying to see but I couldn’t look away. “What do you mean?”

“We had an agreement, Gabriel.” I don’t know why because it had no flesh for me to tell, but I knew it was smirking. “I would allow you to incarnate as a mortal until such time as He decided it was time to call them all back. Well,” he leaned forward, steepling his fingers as he rested his elbows on his knees, “It is time.”

“A-are you telling my I’m the Archangel, Gabriel?” I shook my head in disbelief. “No, no way. I’m Ted, Ted Danvers. I teach Computer Science to high schoolers.”

“Yes,” it said with sorrow, “and you are gifted in doing so, but that time is over. You must come back, Gabriel. You promised me the favor of blowing your horn when the time had come, and now is that time.”

It was all so crazy. None of it made any sense. I wasn’t even that religious, so the idea I was a literal angel was beyond absurd, but the fact the news was coming from this terrifying creature made it even more so.

“W-who are you?” I asked as I felt my body begin to vibrate even more.

“Death,” it replied as it stood. “Rise,” it commanded, and I did so. “I am sorry, Gabriel. I know how much you care for these creatures, but He has decided, and now we all must play our roles.” With a wave of its hand, an impressively gilded horn appeared. It held it out to me. “Take this and become your role again.”

I fought against the command. I didn’t want to be responsible for helping to end the world as we know it. I didn’t want that responsibility, that horror to be on my shoulders, but I couldn’t resist. As my hand landed upon the horn, I knew that I didn’t want to. This was my role, my job, to do, and it was my honor to follow His will to see it done.

Taking in a deep breath, I nodded at my old friend before I drew up my favored horn. A new dawn was about to happen, and, with a single sound of my horn, so it began.

Voting in the 2020's

So this might very well be a hot take but I don't really care.

Voting should not be easy. Let me explain since many of you just lost your shit. The barrier to entry for voting (at least in the US) should be a few things. An actual desire to vote. Legal identification showing you are a citizen. A proper time and date. Lastly, a signature.

Getting a state ID or drivers license is NOT expensive and requires very little in the way of effort. This prevents, or should prevent illegals from voting in our elections. And if you don't know why that should be a thing then you don't understand the fundamentals of what a COUNTRY is. Look at most other countries outside of the US. Tight borders and often pretty well regulated voting laws. The US? CA letting illegal immigrants vote in their state elections. This not counting the fact that those illegals vote by proxy for the president. Why? Because they are counted by the census. And for every single body that california can smuggle here into the US, is another vote they have.

And of course all of that is on purpose. Because those illegals also work on farms for dirt wages and have zero health care. And that's not counting all the women and children smuggled across the borders as sex slaves. Because there are many. 1000's a day. That however, is a different discussion.

Why all these rules then? Because our elections should be done by people whom legally live here. Ya know, US citizens, whom have to stay here unless they get a visa to a different country to try to stay there (because most countries WOULD deport your ass on the spot no questions asked). Because the people that live here legally have a vested interest in the laws and the people who oversee those laws. As such there are things we should be doing to make our elections safer and more accurate. Some are as listed before but I will list them again. (Some of these will also be changes to voter laws and regulations as well)

All voters should present legal ID to prove not only that they are who they say they are, but also that they are a legal resident.

All voters should have to show up in person (the only exception being absentee ballots and those should have to be applied for properly) to vote.

All voting machines that count ballots should be open source and all machines should be checked multiple times before use and after use. Being quarantined after the initial check only to be placed out by professionals whom are either non partisan or bipartisan. Also being quarantined after the voting is finished so that way the machine can be checked for tampering. Machines should also not be allowed in any way to connect to WiFi at all at any time. Only able to show results through an admin prompt.

All businesses should be legally required to give their associates time off for them to vote. Even if that means finding time to give them off time before their regular shift or having them come in earlier so that they can leave earlier to go vote.

Ballot harvesting should be illegal outright. If you can't be bothered to put in your own votes you should not be allowed to vote. And if something is the case where you need an absentee ballot then you should be able to send it off on your own after having mailed to your current residence.

Door to door voting campaigns should also be illegal. Again if a person doesn't want to vote that is their choice. Let them reap the consequences of not voting. Radio/TV/Internet ads are plenty.

Signatures should be required to vote. Even absentee ballots are included in this.

Mail in voting should be made illegal outright. It is far too easy to abuse and makes corruption far more easy.

Voter fraud should be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. No exceptions.

Party rolls should be removed from the ballots completely. If you don't know who you are voting for, then you should not be voting at all.

This is more an in general but one of two things needs to happen. Political parties should be abolished and made illegal outright. Or the US should have to have 5 VIABLE political parties. With laws put in place that if there is excessive collaboration between them, like consolidating power, then the parties will be removed from the next election cycles until they can prove otherwise. (This to prevent the extra parties from all just consolidating power within one another and making a 3/2 indefinite party control.)

Basically this is more or less what I feel would fix our systems when it came to voting. And the reason i'm not for a voting week or voting month is because it's a lot harder to fix an election in a day than it is over a course of a week or a month. More over, While i don't want the federal government to have more power than need be, elections that do no abide by the constitution of each state they are done in should be thrown out. If you can't be bothered to follow your own states constitution, why would I believe that you'd follow the ideals of the US constitution?

Long story short. If you want to vote then vote. If you can't be bothered to vote then don't. And for love of god start voting in local elections. Town, city, state, etc. And no. Voting is not a right. It's a privilege. One that you can lose to due process. So it should not be the easiest thing in the world to do. Because if you are just voting strait down party lines, I'm going to assume you're uninformed in general and have no clue what's going on around you.

They're just a silly little guy. A jokester. Significant harassment if you will. Anyway, a more in depth run down: They're a city sized supercomputer built by a Buddhist adjacent society to figure out how to transcend the 'Great Cycle' (semi-metaphorical cycle of death and rebirth) in a safer way than the previous method (submerging oneself in the 'void sea' which is a mysterious golden liquid that dissolves whatever it touches). Despite being built for this express purpose NSH never really shows a pressing interest in ascension, even cracking jokes about those who are still looking for a solution. Whether this is due to indifference, dislike of, or humor to cope with being unable to ascend is not clear and really up to interpretation. Example: NSH: I wish them super good luck in that endeavor. How is it going to happen? Have the overseers gnaw through bedrock until their entire can crashes down in the void sea? BSM: Please be respectful when speaking of the Void Sea. Grey Wind, where did you hear this? CW: I really shouldn't say. He's going to attempt some sort of breeding program. Thought you might want to know. NSH: Haha with the slimers, lizards and etceteras? Shrimp

Ok so Shrimp is public enemy #1 and I love him. He's the funny little guy you see on your loading screen during the game who you don't think much of until eventually you find an asylum on one of the floors of the Upturned Inn and oops! Shrimp is there! And you need to free him to progress, which Ik is alarmed by even though you can also just tell him you didn't see/free Shrimp. You can put a collar on this little guy to make him look snazzy, despite how little he's with you. On the floors where he's friendly he kind of just follows you around, so you get to have a little buddy for parts of the game! He's basically just your pet dog who may or may not be severely dangerous. And by may or may not I mean a definite yes he is, because he turns aggressive when he gets especially hungry. He can eat the food objects scattered around, though, so that's avoidable! He can also stay with you for nice little elevator rides, which does concern Ik, but it works out! until he starts trying to attack you but if you don't feed your dog then I don't care if it attacks you [additional propaganda 1] [additional propaganda 2] [additional propaganda 3]
