these are osedax

they're polychaete worms who eat bone. they're decomposers, not parasites. they were first discovered in a whale fall in 2006

they don't have stomachs or mouths they absorb with their skin and all of them are female with a microscopic male inside them

this is a lamprey they live in both freshwater and saltwater. they're the ones you always see with their sucker mouth pictured but they actually have a silly cute face

lampreys are mostly harmless they're like underwater mosquitoes. they CAN suck a fish dead but not usually

they have vampire bite gills and i think it's cute

a whale fall is the carcass of a whale and they feed generations of animals because they're so big

in them you can find polychaetes, hagfish, lampreys, cephalopods, crustaceans, isopods, sleeper sharks, and mollusks

in fact i just looked it up to fact check and multiple species have been discovered in whale falls
