Truly I think the only reason fifth vault track title was announced differently is because she didn’t want to record herself saying “Slut!” She’s so funny.

Theory about "Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me?"
First of all, this theory isn't mine! I saw this video on Tik Tok of a Brazilian woman. I found it really interesting and decided to share it with you. She's an English teacher and her account on Tik Tok is @teachermaryhollywood. I could just post her video here, but she's speaking Portuguese in it, and I know the majority of my followers are English native or non-native speakers, so here I am to bring it translated to you.
If you are a non-native English speaker like me, let's learn something:
What's the meaning of "little old me"? When you translate "Who's afraid of little old me?" to your native language, you may not realize how ironic this title is. If like me, you thought "little old me" was only a reference of age, you (and me) were wrong. "Little old me" is an English idiom and it is "a way of referring to yourself that is meant to be modest or self-deprecatory, though often fake".
"Who's afraid of little old me?" made lot of people remind of "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?". But what are we talking about?
"Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" This is the title of a play written by the American Edward Albee which was first staged in 1962 and it was adapted to the cinema in 1966. The lead actors on the screen were Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor.
Tumblr media
They starred together in 11 films and while they were together, their relationship was considered the "marriage of the century" by the media. When we talk about this couple, does it remind you of something?
Tumblr media
When Taylor Swift released the reputation album, we believe that the majority of the songs, inclunding "...Ready For It?" were written about a specific person. We also believe that The Tortured Poets Department will talk about the same person...
Back to the play... its title is a pun on the song "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?" from Walt Disney's Three Little Pigs from 1933.
youtube
A nice pun happens here with the word "wolf" and the surname "Woolf". There's a scene where Elizabeth Taylor sings the line "Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?" in the same way the little pigs sing "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?" in the Disney film.
The play/film focus on the middle-aged couple Martha and George. They have a toxic relationship. George is a professor in a university. One evening after a university faculty party, they receive a younger couple, Nick and Honey as guests and the rest is chaos...
Tumblr media
But who is Virginia Woolf? Virginia Woolf was an English writer who began writing professionally in 1900. She is considered one of the most important modernist 20th-century authors. She pioneered the use of stream of consciousness as a narrative device. Stream of consciousness is a narrative mode or method that attempts "to depict the multitudinous thoughts and feelings which pass through the mind" of a narrator. She used to depict the truth of her characters in a special way.
Tumblr media
Concluding part But why are we talking about all those things? Well, in the play/film Martha and George live in a big illusion. This means that when they ask: "who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?", they're asking "who's afraid of... the truth?". So when Taylor asks: "who's afraid of little old me?", she can be asking "who's afraid of the truth?"
It's important to remind you one more time: This is just a theory that ISN'T MINE. It's from @teachermaryhollywood available on her account on Tik Tok.
Taylor can be asking another thing. Let's wait to hear the song and create more theories because this is so representative of us and our fandom.

Virgil: As you know, I keep a list of all of my friends... In order of how likely they are to betray me, and we've established this...
Logan: Where am I on the list?
Virgil: Well I can't tell you that because then you'll quickly move up or down depending on your reaction!

it’s been said, and i agree, that what was so great about early taylor (basically up to 1989) has always been the feeling of genuine truth and honesty in the songs. almost as if they weren’t aware of the fact that they were destined to be mega-hits; they felt so incisive and brutally true to the life of an individual in a way that’s rare in popular music and even rarer in music aimed at young women. but that itself was tied to the lyricism, and a big part of that was the simplicity of it. not that there weren’t great turns of phrase (and you come away with a great little story of a mess of a dreamer with the nerve to adore you) or interesting phonic structures (faSter than the wind, paSSionate aS Sin, ending So Suddenly) but those moments felt like less like intentional interpolation of a skill and more like natural consequences of the sheer honesty of the songwriting. my issue with the more recent taylor is that i feel like the two have been flipped — that is, that it feels like the songs are more interested in being lauded as genius works of songwriting craft than they are in being confessional pieces that work well because the songwriting holds up behind all that honesty. a metaphor like “you paint me a blue sky then go back and turn it to rain” works because the simplicity of the language and the metaphor distill the emotionally fraught story it’s telling in such a sharp and clear image. the internal rhyme of “paint” and “rain” serves to make the musicality of the language shine, but it isn’t the point of the lyric. whereas something like “familiarity breeds contempt don’t put me in the basement when i want the penthouse of your heart” just feels overdone. it’s so obsessed with repeating the “t” sound, referencing the idiom, and creating a layered metaphor that it ends up losing any sense of coherency. and in doing so we lose the clarity of feeling that made those early records so great.

Here’s just a little bit of what the show was like

If you’re bitter about not being there for one of your favorite songs being played as a secret song on the tour, then I just want to say I know how much it sucks. We all love her and all want her to play our favorites, but she’s one person. She’s packed 44 songs into this show for US. She’s doing the best she can, but nobody can be there for every show. So what you can do now, is either clench your fists and shut your eyes; or you can make the most of your favorite song being played live, and the technology we have available; and sing along with her from your own home. There’s more than one way to enjoy Taylor, and I guarantee you, she would be ecstatic to know that she still made you smile, even from X miles away.

i genuinely don’t understand the sg fans bc they see her as the quintessential hollywood nice girl who’s just the victim of everyone always and forever and like. sg is the one that can’t keep people out of her mouth??
Okay thank you!!! Like why is she at her big and supposedly employed age sitting around, commenting on tik toks and stirring up drama all day??? And the lengths her fans go to in order to paint her as a victim is insane like I mean the intensity at which they reach™️ on a daily basis rivals that of blarkes

The best and possibly only good thing to come out of Taylor Swift TikTok is the “I’m so glad my travvy made it to the big game” joke. Every time someone references it I’m guaranteed to laugh

CAN WE PLS GET A onyankopon X BLACK READER FANFIC IDC IF ITS SMUT OR FLUFF PLSS
i gotchu boooo. i decided to do the fluff about the reader’s hair not cooperating bc as a black girl ts get real stressful😒
hair struggles
Tumblr media
summary: ony comforts you when you struggle to recreate a hairstyle.
cw: fluffff
word count: 678
“cmon baby we gon be late” onyankopon sighed in irritation as he watched you try to redo your hair for the third time today. “if my hair not right we not gon be going nowhere” you were trying to redo a hairstyle you saw on tik tok a couple days ago. the first time it was attempted you looked perfectly fine, but of course that was on a day you had nowhere to go. now that you have this barbecue to be at, it seems like god thought it was the perfect time to play with you.
“ma dukes said she got plates for me and i’m not ‘bout to let them get cold cause you don’t like your hair”
you rolled your eyes at your big ass boyfriend, continuing to fix your hair. it’s not like the style was hard. it was a simple half up half down with a swoop in the front. this should be easy compared to the other styles you’ve tried, but your hair refuses to cooperate today and your swoop just won’t slick down.
“just leave me. i’ll take my car to the house okay?” you mumble as your eyes began to water. ony knows that when you feel your hair doesn’t look right you start to get so frustrated to the point where you’d give up on whatever plans you have for the day, but he seen no reason for the both of you to take separate cars to the same place. he was also really hungry and refused to let your moms great cooking go to waste.
“mama it don’t gotta be slicked all the way. if it waves up a little who really gon care.” ony remembered what you always told him about your curls so he added a lesson you taught him “you told me that wearing slick styles all the time can mess up your curl pattern anyway so what’s the issue wit just leaving it a lil wavy?” he says with a smirk, using your own facts against you. you knew he was right and didn’t really feel like driving so you wiped the tears from your face. you loved how ony always listened when you would talk about your hair whether it be about the products you used or just random facts.
“you right boo lemme finish up so we can go. i know you hungry as hell.” you sigh as your boyfriend smiled. he began to walk out of your shared room to go put his sneakers on at the front door. ony was wearing grey nike shorts with a white tee and his gold chains. it was a warmer day so he decided to throw on a his black fitted to hide from the sun and his space jams . it was the typical barbecue fit and you were expecting to see your brothers and cousins wearing a similar, if not the same, one. you decided to wear a grey romper with black sandals. a simple outfit since you could expect that you’d be walking around a lot and didn’t want to get really hot.
as you finally finished your hair you seen that it still wasn’t slicked down all the way, but you decided to just leave it after you remembered what your man reminded you. you smiled to yourself as you noticed that you didn’t even look bad and you overreacted a bit, walking out of your room to meet your boyfriend by the door. “you ready?” he said nervously, hoping you weren’t still upset. “yea baby let’s go before we late.” ony smiled, happy that you listened to him. he actually thought your hair looked better than the tutorial and began thinking about how your waved up hair kind of reminded him of the waves he had when he was younger. he was going to tell you that, but decided against it, knowing that you’d probably look at him crazy. “good because you look beautiful princess. now let’s go before all the food gone.”

Story time! My cousin is six and wants to become a fashion designer. She saw an ad for the TS movie on TV and liked the sparkly costumes, so I pirated the thing and we watched it together so she could draw the clothes. Two big things I noticed are: 1) the vocals are... not that good? I mean, the quality of the audio has been improved a lot, but the vocals themselves are painfully mid even for Taylor. In one of the very first songs, I got the ick from a note she missed badly, and I'm no musical genius. Considering she chose this performance to be recorded in a movie to broadcast worldwide, you'd expect her to be top of her game, or at least to use some good old autotune to fix her mistakes. (I'll leave out the massive use of background vocals because I don't abitually listen to pop, so I don't know if that's a thing other artists do too or not. Tbh, if I paid hundreds for a tour ticket and all I heard was a recorded track and background vocalists, I'd be pissed to say the least, but maybe that's me, idk. 2) Her stage presence, dance skills, talking, it's all bad and completely unnatural. Her dance moves look like poorly done tik tok dances, her comments between songs are so fake it hurts, there is not a single thing she does on stage that comes off as genuine. I get no performer is ever truly themselves on stage, but damn, at least others are better at faking it. Her expressions and gestures are exaggerated for no reason, which ruins the whole experience, at least for me. Mind you, I like a goofy moment on stage, I like jokes, hell, Corey Taylor performing the Spongebob soundtrack mid concert may be one of my favourite concert moments ever. But if it's clear the person is acting, I can't have fun, I only feel like I'm being treated as an idiot. Luckily, my cousin didn't like the concert either, so I won't have to deal with a swiftie in the future ahah. Though I fear I might have to get through the Beyoncé movie as well once she sees her costumes (hoping that one's a little bit better).
Only one time I used to find Taylor's mid performance speeches genuine was during reputation tour. she used to be very relaxed and confident with who she was and exactly knew what she was saying, before that she would always seem fake and insecure to me, and this eras tour is her fakest version ever, she's just straight up acting. I myself would never spend my money on such mid shows ever.
