1830s Unmentionables Set
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A recolor of @arethabee's Jasmine dress to add some early 19th-century long stays on top, as well as some accessory drawers to pair with the recolor. I made these a long time ago and will admit they're not my best work, but I think they could be useful for historical gameplay. And the mesh is so cute and fits so well it's worth it!
Both have a few swatches in relatively neutral tones + some basic colors + black. I've never seen any colorful or black stays from this time period, so the color choices are probably a bit historically inaccurate, but some variety can't hurt.
The hair in the above previews is by the amazing @the-melancholy-maiden and can be found here. I recommend combining it with this set to complete the ensemble.
This is a bit of a long post, so I'm putting the rest under the cut.

I say 1830s, but they could work for pretty much the first half of the 19th century, up until the early 1840s

1830s Accessory Drawers
Tumblr media Tumblr media
These accessory drawers don't look very good on their own, I'll admit. They're definitely meant to be covered with a skirt of some kind.
The drawers are divided into four different files, which require some explanation. The drawers on the left are V1. They're compatible with most skirt lengths, but are a bit bulky and are at risk of clipping with whatever you put on top, specifically at the thighs and hips. The ones on the right are V2. They've been decapitated to minimize bulkiness, but of course they won't look good with skirts that are too short.
Both V1 and V2 are compatible with the stays in this set. And both V1 and V2 are found in two different categories: Leggings and Socks. Why put something like this in Socks? Well, simply because a lot of good CC stockings are in the Leggings category, including the ones seen in the previews. So there are four files: V1 Leggings, V1 Socks, V2 Leggings, and V2 Socks. Get them all or get just one - it's your choice. Hope this cleared things up.

Four versions, please read the description above!

Salami - an 1830s hairstyle

I asked my friends for name suggestions and Yasha said Salami. So the hair is named Salami. No, Yasha is not a small child. Next time I'll ask my 8 month old coworker. Moving on.

NOT hat compatible
Uses parts from a GTW hair, two GF hairs, this hair and this hair

"There is nothing in the world so irresistibly contagious as laughter and good humor." (A Christmas Carol – Charles Dickens, 1847)
surprise!!! here's some boys for y'all!
fashion just... didn't change as much or as drastically for men as it did for women. there's a few reasons for this, like the association of fashion with women, that fashion was one of few accepted ways of women's expression, that the way men were dressed was under less of a microscope... etc. etc. also, a lot of top hats were worn pretty much through the century, but i kept on forgetting them :(

As time marched on, Wilhelmina found herself expecting once more. Despite appearances of smooth sailing, Edwin took it upon himself to be exceptionally attentive to her needs. Scarred by the challenging journey of Thomas's pregnancy, he harbored a deep fear that Wilhelmina might endure another arduous ordeal.

Storytime with the King and Charlotte, The Princess Royal
Tumblr media
King Leonidas I: Good evening ladies and gentlemen, hopefully you enjoyed the Christmas speech earlier. I am now sitting with my beloved daughter Charlotte, the Princess Royal, and she wanted to read you all a Christmas story. Go on dear...
Tumblr media
Charlotte: "Once upon a time, King Leonidas and his daughter Charlotte, THEE Princess Royal, were celebrating Christmas in their grand palace. The halls were decked with holly and ivy, the smell of roasted meat and spiced wine wafted through the air, and the family sat around the fire exchanging presents and stories."
Tumblr media
Leonidas I: Oh how lovely...
Tumblr media
"But as the night grew darker and the snow outside fell heavier, a strange feeling crept over the palace. The fire flickered ominously, the candles cast unsettling shadows on the walls, and the howling of wolves echoed in the distance."
Tumblr media
"Suddenly, a knock on the door interrupted their merriment. The King cautiously opened it to find a hooded figure standing outside. "Please, Your Highness," the stranger whispered, "I need your help. My daughter is very ill, and we have nowhere else to turn."
Feeling generous, King Leonidas ordered his carriage to take him, his daughter, and the stranger back to the man's home, which was located deep in the woods. The journey was treacherous, with the horses struggling to keep their footing on the icy roads, but they eventually arrived at the stranger's cottage."
Tumblr media
Leonidas I: I'm not sure I like this story anymore.
Charlotte: Papa hush its getting good!
"As they entered, they found the man's daughter lying on a bed, barely conscious. The King and Charlotte did all they could to save her, administering herbs and remedies, but to no avail. Suddenly, the girl's eyes opened wide, and she sat up, laughing maniacally. "You shouldn't have come here," she cackled, her face twisting into a grotesque mask.
Tumblr media
Charlotte: Well thats not right...
"All at once, the cottage was filled with a screeching wind, and the walls began to shake. The stranger revealed himself to be a malevolent spirit who had lured the King and his daughter into the woods. The spirit had taken the form of the hooded man and his daughter, and now it sought to claim the souls of its victims."
Terrified, Charlotte and her father fought to escape, eventually bursting through the cottage's door and racing back to the safety of their palace. But even there, they could feel the spirit's cold breath on the back of their necks and hear its haunting whispers in the night.
Tumblr media
Leonidas I: *Thinking to himself* This is absolutely ridiculous! This was a bad idea, I wish she would stop reading where the hell did she even get that book from?!!
Tumblr media
From that day on, the King and his daughter never ventured out of their palace on Christmas Eve, for fear they would once again be trapped in the clutches of the vengeful spirit.
The end.
Tumblr media
Leonidas I: Dearest Charlotte, this house is too grand and spooky already, next time read that yourself! PLEASE!!!!

TS2 in TS4 Megahood: Willow Creek Map
In TS4, I love building and I love sim making and this save gave me a lot of both to do. I have touched every lot in Willow Creek. Some are renovations of EA builds and some are new builds.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Willow Creek, I wanted it to feel like a southern town. The two oldest houses in town are in a Greek Revival style intended to have been built somewhere between 1830-1850. I was picturing the two neighborhoods as neighboring plantations that were later subdivided. The subdivision of the neighborhood marked with the gazebo happened in the 1870s and the pink house was the first one to be built. The Goth's Ophelia Villa and the yellow house across the street were built about 20 years later. The other plantation didn't start selling off land until recently and are kind of chagrinned about what was built next door.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Across the river in the middle class neighborhood, we've got some smaller houses that were built between 1900-1930. One has been renovated to fit the "modern farmhouse" aesthetic. These houses are less impressive, but still pretty. The poor neighborhood is intended to look like pre-fab houses and trailers. I wanted it to have a mix of old and new as well as care for the plot of land.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally in the commercial district, we've got Pendula Regional Park, Willow Creek Gallery, Galactic Bowling, The Sweat Shoppe, and The Willow Creek Archive. The park is meant to be a mixed use space with something for everyone to do. The gallery is a renovation I did a couple of years ago to make the exhibits more interesting that I have updated to include art from Snowy Escape. The bowling alley is a lounge lot and includes arcade machines since I've never been to a bowling alley that didn't have an arcade. The Sweat Shoppe is a renovation of the Willow Creek gym to incorporate the rock climbing machines, yoga, and a massage table. I redid the library from the perspective of, it having once been grand but having been renovated a few times over the next hundred years and being quite utilitarian on the inside.

200 Followers Gift: 19th-century Men's Lookbook
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finally, here it is. A gift to you all for getting my follower count up to a whole 200. I know it's not a huge milestone, but I'm excited about it, and I'm glad so many other people are interested in the things I make. As of right now I have 212 followers, and there were only about 190 students at my elementary school. That's weird. That's a lot of people.
This is a more informal lookbook than my usual ones. I haven't really gone all in on the photo editing. It's more of a timeline of fashion than a true lookbook. Note that it's a mix of casual wear (1810, 1820, 1830, 1850), regular daywear (1800, 1860, 1870, 1880, 1890) and evening wear (1840).
1800s: hair / glasses (TSR) / suit / boots (Base Game)
1810s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / vest / breeches / boots
1820s: hair / facial hair / vest / pants (Discover University) / boots
1830s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / outfit / boots (Base Game)
1840s: hair / facial hair (Base Game) / suit / shoes
1850s: hair / facial hair / outfit / shoes (Base Game)
1860s: hat / hair / facial hair / suit / gloves (Base Game)
1870s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cottage Living) / jacket / pants (Sack Pants) / gloves (Base Game) / boots
1880s: hat / hair / facial hair (Horse Ranch) / suit / boots
1890s: hat / hair / facial hair (Cats & Dogs) / suit (Professor Plum) / shoes (Get Together)

PARA TI | A Vintage Magazine Set
Say Hi to Para Ti Magazine! PARA TI was a pioneer in Argentine women’s magazines. Many generations read the magazine, covering the different stages of the history of women and the changes in the social life of Argentine women.
Topics such as freedom, equality and maternity, professional integration, sexual freedom were shared with fashion themes, hairstyles that would be worn in the summer, miniskirts and models of the moment. So why set aside something so representative?

1830s Girls' Dress and slippers
Tumblr media
Hiya! It’s good to be back after the new year. I think I started working on this project in... November, perhaps? The problem back then was that I had no idea how to edit any kind of mesh and failed catastrophically. Now, more than one blender tutorial later, I present to you: A frankenmesh. But not just that! A frankenmesh and a pair of slippers.
The dress consists of two main meshes - sleeves from this dress (REQUIRED) by @vintagesimstress and the rest from Felicity’s summer dress (NOT REQUIRED) by @historicalfictionsims. The pantalettes were taken from Kirsten's winter outfit, also by historicalfictionsims
2 versions - V1 has longer pantalettes and V2 has slightly shorter
44 swatches - 20 white swatches and 24 brighter swatches
The pantalettes are white in every swatch
The shoes are @zurkdesign's Ballet Shoes for Girls, with the ribbons on the sides removed so as to avoid clipping with the pantalettes.
The slippers are BGC, but as stated the dresses require vintagesimstress’s 1895 cf dress

Lucinda's Patchwork Dress - BGC
Lucinda Lawrence lives in a remote part of Texas where there's limited contact with the rest of Mexico and the United States. Her father, a veteran of the War of 1812, believes that the colonists should live peacefully by the Mexican Constitution, but her older brother Willis thinks the laws are unjust and that Texas should become independent. As fighting breaks out between the Mexican army and the Colonists, Willis joins in, defending the Alamo mission in San Antonio. Lucinda worries about her brother throughout the siege and when news arrives about the devastating outcome, she has to wonder if independence is truly worth it.
I made a child and T-E version due to Lucinda being twelve and neither a child nor a teen. Comes in some of the swatches from my Dear America palette. Only one swatch has the pattern shown above. It didn't work well on the others so they're solid.

True paradise is not in heaven but on the lips of one's beloved. (Mademoiselle de Maupin – Theóphile Gautier, 1835)
guys... i love the 1830s. i would kill to wear the 1836 dress :( so the sim modeling this decade is based loosely off of how i look! i am flying through these decades lol sorry
anyway. 1830s! you see the puffy sleeves in this era that you also associate with the 1890s, but they're much more romantic and soft in this area. as the decade goes on, the hemline falls again, and you see the skirt start to widen exponentially.
1834 deviates in this series, but that's just because i wanted to use it to honor anne lister, a.k.a 'gentleman jack', who is known often as the "first modern lesbian".

1839 had come with its biting cold, enveloping the quaint Langley homestead in a frosty embrace, offering them a reprieve from the demands of farm life and allowing them to relish precious family moments amidst the wintry chill.
Wilhelmina couldn't shake off the nagging feeling that their newfound leisure had coincided with her peculiar physical sensations. Two missed periods and a subtle bulge in her belly had left her with a sense of unease, prompting her to ponder the possible reasons behind these changes.
One frosty morning, as the soft glow of dawn filtered through the frost-kissed window panes, Edwin, ever the early riser, was up and about, preparing for another day's toil at Abernathy Farm. Despite the lull in agricultural duties due to the season, he still needed to tend to the livestock and ensure the smooth running of the homestead.
Curiously, Wilhelmina rose from her slumber simultaneously with Edwin, a departure from her usual routine of lingering under the covers until the sun had fully ascended. In the depths of winter, coaxing the children out of bed often consumed more time, resulting in extended sleep-ins. Yet, a restlessness had gripped Wilhelmina of late, prompting her to abandon her customary lie-in and join her husband at daybreak.
"Sweetheart, why not return to bed?" Edwin suggested as he tucked his shirt into his trousers. "It's early still, and the children are likely to sleep through."
But Wilhelmina was lost in introspection, her gaze fixed on her reflection in the mirror, oblivious to Edwin's words. "Minna" he called out, attempting to draw her attention back to the present moment.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wilhelmina tore her gaze away from her reflection, her eyes meeting Edwin's with a hint of confusion. "Uh?" she murmured, oblivious to his initial question.
Edwin chuckled softly, shaking his head in amusement. "What's got into you? You've been wandering around in the clouds for weeks" he remarked casually, fastening the buttons of his waistcoat.
Thoughtfully, Wilhelmina's fingers trailed over her abdomen as she pondered. "Haven't you noticed any changes in me lately?" she inquired, her tone tinged with a mix of anticipation and uncertainty. Edwin, turning to face her, furrowed his brow in contemplation. "Have you been styling your hair differently perhaps?" he responded, his voice laced with a hint of uncertainty as he tried to grasp her meaning.
Though the subtle swell of Wilhelmina's belly was evident, such observations often eluded men, who typically relied on their wives to share any news of significance. Edwin simply assumed Wilhelmina had gained a bit of weight, a plausible outcome given the bountiful harvest they'd reaped prior to winter and the steady income from Abernathy Farm.
Wilhelmina regarded him with a mixture of disbelief and amusement, her lips twitching into a wry smile. Edwin, sensing his misstep, completed the meticulous task of buttoning his shirt cuffs before leaning against the dresser, his gaze fixed on his wife. "Come on now, tell me, what's been weighing on your mind?"
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
With an affectionate sigh, Wilhelmina moved away from the mirror and settled onto the edge of the bed. "Come closer," she beckoned, her hand gesturing towards the vacant space beside her. Edwin obliged, taking his place at the foot of the bed as Wilhelmina began to share her thoughts. "Seems like things are looking up, doesn't it?" she remarked, her voice tinged with a mixture of hope and uncertainty.
As Edwin reclined onto the bed, he offered a subdued affirmation. "Lord Abernathy's payments have been steady, and our harvest has been bountiful," he acknowledged. "At least now we have the assurance that even if the crops were to fail, we'd still have my earnings from Abernathy Farm…" His words trailed off as he turned his gaze towards Wilhelmina, his expression shifting to one of curiosity. "But how does this tie into what I asked you? Darling, don't keep me in suspense, I'll need to be off soon."
Wilhelmina's smile widened, a glimmer of mischief dancing in her eyes. "So, would it be a cause for celebration if I told you I'm expecting once more?" she teased, her hands gently cradling her abdomen.
Edwin's face lit up with unrestrained joy, his movements mirroring the excitement that coursed through him. "Are you certain?" he inquired eagerly, his hands instinctively reaching out to rest upon Wilhelmina's belly. "Almost certain." she affirmed with a tender smile, her eyes reflecting the same elation that shone in Edwin's.
With a mixture of wonder and delight, Edwin gingerly traced the gentle curve of Wilhelmina's abdomen, his touch imbued with a sense of reverence. "Oh, my love…" he breathed, his voice filled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude and anticipation.
As Wilhelmina met Edwin's gaze, she felt her heart swell with a profound sense of contentment. It had been nearly five years since she last cradled a newborn in her arms, and the prospect of welcoming another child into their lives filled her with a profound sense of joy and wonder. In that fleeting moment, the prospect of impending parenthood felt like a cherished dream come true, a testament to the enduring bond that united them as husband and wife.
