This image was discovered by @s1ndle and @simnostalgia. It's a list of icons for "Interests" that EA was originally going to put into The Sims Online, but was unfortunately scrapped. The interests are as follows:
-Adult Entertainment (thank God this one was scrapped because it's too mature for a family MMO)
-Alternative Music
-Alt Lifestyles (in this context it's referring to LGBT relationships, but the phrase "alternative lifestyle" could mean anything)
-Anime (love the Sailor Moon icon!)
-Antiques
-Automobiles
-Beer (an explicit reference to alcohol)
-Board Games
-Books (I can see this interest giving Sims an advantage in building their Logic skill)
-Camping
-Children (I don't think you could even have children in TSO, so what would even be the point of this?)
-Cocktails (missed opportunity to introduce the Mixology skill before The Sims 3 came out)
-Collectables
-Comedy
-Comics
-Cooking (one of the iconic skills in the franchise)
-Costuming
-Creative Expression
-Crime (committing crimes or solving crimes?)
-Disco
-Documentary Film
-Entertainment News
-Excercise
-Film
-Finance
-Fine Art
-Fine Dining
-Flirting
-Gardening
-Golf
-Gossip
-Goth (wouldn't this count as an alt lifestyle?)
-Hip Hop
-Interior Decorating (ironic since one of the features in the Sims is building and customizing your own homes)
-Jazz music
-Meditation
-Medieval
-Moshpit (why?)
-Oldies
-Party Games
-Pets (The Sims Unleashed, which allows your sims to have pets, would not be released until a year after TSO)
-Photography
-Pro Wrestling
-Rap
-Religion
-Robotics
-School
-Skateboarding
-Skiing
-Soaps
-Sports Fan
-Stage Shows
-Theater
-Travel
-UFOs
-Vegitarianism
-Video Games
-Wine (Nectar in the Sims world)
-World News
-Writing
-Xtreme Sports
Which interests would you have chosen for your Sim?

This evening the Toronto Symphony Orchestra features Jonathan Crow playing the György Ligeti’s Violin Concerto followed by Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony.
I'm the Weird Uncle. I'd say that I'm the Cool Aunt, but I've come to the conclusion that I am, in fact the Weird Uncle. Today I went to the Polar Express alone, because my Niefling didn't want to go. So I livebloged it, Face-timed with him, and brought him the goodies.
I was sitting at dinner afterward with my brother and his wife, and the two kiddos. Both kids love music, and the tiny one will jam to anything with a good beat. I'm entirely convinced that one will learn to speak properly specifically so Siri will understand.
So there we are and I bring up Trans-Siberian Orchestra. This led to my playing "Wizards In Winter" for the kids, and dancing along.
For those who don't know which song I mean, Yes, You Do.
And it plays along and when it gets to That Part, right at the 30 second mark, and right there, at the table I turn into one of those blow up noodle guys. Just full-on
Head thrown back, eyes closed l, arms waving wildly.
The kids are 5 and almost 2. They went ape shit.
And of course it goes "wild flailing for five full seconds" followed by an abrupt stop, look around all confused and jump right back into it, pause, etc.
In the end I decided to behave as though my hands are fully possessed and I'm kind of trying to get them back under control.
I mean, I know practically every note of the thing. I can throw down with the interpretive dance.
I created two monsters just in time for bed and bath.
They made me do it like 10 times. Then begged for one more.
