When Tsukishima gets comfortable, he really gets comfortable.
You learned that eight months into your relationship, when Tsukishima walked into the bathroom—with you on the toilet—heading for the sink to brush his teeth.
“Kei!” You nearly scream, clutching your chest to calm yourself down. “I’m using the bathroom here?”
“I can see,” he says, and you groan, throwing your head back in defeat. It really doesn’t help that the mirror is perfectly placed, in a way that allows your Kei to look at you directly in the eye while you sit on the toilet looking as unflattering as ever.
“Then leave? I can’t even piss in peace.”
“Why would I leave?” He puts the toothbrush in his mouth, “I’ve seen worse.”
“It’s impossible to argue with you,” you cry. And you’re right. Tsukishima Kei is insufferable, and he may be too comfortable with you already.
-
You learn Tsukishima has no sense of personal space soon after.
When he loves someone, his affection comes in odd ways. Sometimes it’s a flick to the forehead, other times it’s a teasing remark, and today, it’s him asking you if he could stay with you while you shower.
It’s not necessary the worst request, but when you consider the fact that he’s asking to sit on a stool and talk to you while you bathe, you find it a bit strange.
“Why would you even want that?” You ask him, all while you get ready for your nighttime shower.
“I just wanna be there.”
You shrug, tell him “sure”, and move on with your day. He sits on the toilet seat as you shower, recounting his day and all the small things that ticked him off.
“I never knew you could talk this much,” you laugh. He’s not necessarily the most quiet partner, but words are often few when it comes to your Kei. He’s more of a listener than anything, telling you how much he likes to hear your voice when you “bitch about everything.” (His words, not yours.)
-
Once you spend enough time with Tsukishima, though, you learn that he’s not evasive, just caring. He cares for you in ways you’ve never been loved before.
He shows you this when you feel as if you’re looking the Grim Reaper in the eyes, period cramps eating you away, and laying in your shared bed.
“Get up,” he whispers, careful to not yell for he knows how much you hate loud noises.
“Don’t talk to me.”
He knows it’s the cramps talking, so he only responds with a roll of his eyes.
“Okay,” he says, and begins to lift you off the bed. You nearly scream in shock, hitting his chest lightly.
“Put me down!” You kick your legs as he carries you bridal-style towards the bathroom. You know what he’s doing, trying to motivate you to not wallow in your pain, but you’re far too stubborn and in too much pain to care.
“Don’t ignore me!”
“You told me not to talk to you,” he retorts, gently placing you on the closed toilet seat and kneeling in front of you. “I ran a bath for you.”
You stare at him, head tilted to the side, and you wonder how you got so damn lucky.
“You want me to strip you, or?” He speaks up in the midst of your silence.
“Don’t be an ass.”
“That’s what I do best,” he smiles, lifting your hands up to remove your shirt (it’s his, really) from your body.

i dont know if you’re still taking requests buuut i couldn’t stop thinking of angry confessions with kageyama and/or tsukishima (you could add anyone else tho)
Tumblr media
ANGRY CONFESSIONS
Tumblr media
characters: kageyama + tsukishima + (gn!reader)
warnings: none but tsukki's a lil mean lol
notes: the backstory is that they got jealous seeing you with another guy cause i couldn't think of anything else + these can have happy endings i just didn't write them sfdghkj
part one / part two
Tumblr media
★ kageyama storms over to you, and practically scolds you, asking you what you were doing talking to that guy. his voice keeps getting louder when you can't see the problem. you're confused and tell him you don't need his permission to talk to anybody and if you wanted to go out on a date you very well could. soon he's red in the face, frustrated saying you can't. you ask him why and he just repeats himself saying you just can't. when you ask him again, he breaks and says 'because i love you!...' his eyes widen and he's breathing hard, just staring at you. he drops his gaze and his voice gets smaller. 'how can you not see that?'
Tumblr media
★ tsukishima started blatantly ignoring and avoiding you, and the few times he would grace you with conversation (bc you were talking with yamaguchi), it would be filled with snarkier than usual comments and eye rolls. it isn't until you confront him and ask him what's wrong that he actually looks you in the eye for longer than two seconds without rolling his eyes, but they're narrowed in slits as he sneers at you. 'because you're too blind and stupid to see that if anyone should date you it should be me.' his cheeks are starting to blush and he looks away suddenly. 'no one else would be able to tolerate you anyway.'

Tumblr media
synopsis: you find your old academic rival at your new job. every bone in your body says it’s fate, but everything else seems to be stopping you.
notes: puking cuz idk how i feel abt this one. i worked on this all thru out my trip and there was a lot of scrapping and rewriting and deleting the entire thing and rewriting it again, but i think this version is the best i could get it to. i <3 tsukishima kei
tags: fluff → angst → fluff, self-indulgent long fic, reader smokes, reader has trauma w/ their parents, mainly fem reader oriented but gn pronouns used, reader has self-destructive habits, themes of self-doubt from both, tsukishima is probably ooc, slow burn but not really, the most awkward love confession ever, mitski rdr x radiohead tsukishima (sorry), proofread but not really
Tumblr media
tsukishima kei, for once, was at a loss for words.
there you stood beneath the bright green foliage, your face marred by the heatwaves of the sun and still all too familiar. he thought, for a moment, that he had the wrong person — you had taken on a rougher appearance, but his body, heart, and soul still recognized you. and yet, he couldn’t bring himself to speak to you.
where had the last decade gone?
he coughed into his fist and walked past you, feigning ignorance to your arrival. when you followed after him with a keycard of your own, he found himself flustered.
no words were exchanged. he was playing the silent game with you, although he quietly hoped you would say something first.
and thus, he continued his shift as usual, with the added oddity of you shadowing him alongside his boss. he just couldn’t find the proper words to place on his tongue, nor the right gestures to show that he did want to talk, he just didn’t know how to.
but truthfully, what was one supposed to say in such a situation?
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
you believed that tsukishima hated you. and you wouldn’t blame him.
when you applied for this job, you had no expectations going into it, save for the hope of a higher salary and a lighter load than your previous job. what you had not anticipated was to stand face to face with the man you swore to hate in your youth.
a sliver of hope embedded itself within you; an overwhelming desire to perhaps refurbish a long lost relationship had taken root. but when he looked away so persistently and spoke not a word to you, that sliver dissipated into meaningless sand.
you continued your work as best as possible. it was a routine job — set up the displays for the day, guide whatever visitors came around, and leave in the afternoon. but when a certain blonde was sneaking glances at you and somehow always in your vicinity, it proved to be easier said than done.
you were too afraid to admit that his presence was refreshing. that, in the midst of the mundane and borderline unhealthy cycle you had formulated within the past handful of years following graduation, he had proven to be an odd factor; he stood as a disruptor to the routine. it was unwelcome. and even still, you craved it and more.
tsukishima kei had always been a constant in your life. you just didn’t expect him to reappear so soon, so suddenly.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
it was a wednesday. an uneventful shift had come to an end. and just as you rid yourself of your work attire, a verbal invitation to a work party was sent your way.
the prospect of it was almost laughable. you were under the impression that the body of employees in a museum would be too reserved to host parties such as this, and you were quickly proven otherwise. thus, you accepted instantly.
as soon as you sat down, you regretted it just as quickly.
the moon had just barely begun to hang bright in the sky, and yet the table was already full of drunken coworkers that you hadn’t seen before. loud chatter filled the room, as if this table was the only one in the establishment. it was overbearing.
before you could take even a sip of your drink, you excused yourself under the pretense of needing to use the restroom. instead, you escaped outside, the gentle breeze reestablishing your senses and reeling you back in.
he was also there.
“oh,” he exclaimed softly. his eyes drifted away from yours, the warmth of his cheeks illuminated by the dim lamp above. oh was the first word he had ever spoken to you since graduation. you nearly laughed.
“hello,” you offered quietly, still testing the waters of conversation. your gaze fell to his fingers, slim and cherry-kissed and blemished, fiddling with the hem of his shirt. “um… i didn’t expect to see you here…?”
tsukishima laughed lightly at your tone, as if to conceal his own anxieties. “likewise.” he watched as you pulled out a cigarette, the stick meeting your lips like it were more than natural. “did you come all this way to stalk me? or to follow me? after all those years of silence?” he teased, although a tinge of bitterness dripped from his words.
you shook your head aggressively. “no, no, i just…” you bit at your lip for a moment before continuing. “i’m taking a break from my actual job. i needed to wind down before i return.”
tsukishima hummed at your response, evidently oblivious to your lie. he looked at you for a moment too long, his eyes grazing over each alteration and unfamiliar feature. he could not help but admire you in this light — the soft strings of moonlight in contrast with the neon signs glaring against your complexion painted an image he hadn’t seen in ages.
for the first time in a long time, tsukishima kei thought you were unbearably pretty.
what he didn’t catch wind of was your nervous shuffles and your incessant skin-picking as you stood beside him. he didn’t realize that the cigarette was a distractor, a tool to pull you back in. and he failed to acknowledge the stutter in your voice as you spoke to him, for it hadn’t crossed his mind once that you thought he disliked you. not that it would matter to him, anyways.
it’s too soon, he thought to himself. this is stupid, he argued. i’d mess it up if i did anything reckless, he reasoned. all of which were excuses to fight against the overwhelming reality of his vulnerability.
you turned your head away, the extended silence whittling away at whatever confidence you once bore. tsukishima watched with framed eyes and a calculative stare, as if scrutinizing each and every action you took. unbeknownst to you, it was the exact opposite of that.
the soft call of your name from inside the bar pulled your attention away, much to his dismay. he witnessed your frame disappear through the doors, your eyes flitting towards his so quickly he might’ve imagined it.
this was foolish. tsukishima decided that much. but despite his claims of how stupid it was, he was getting reeled in faster than he could pull out.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
despite how hard he tried to display his ignorance, tsukishima was caring at his core.
silent glances exchanged between shifts morphed into small conversations shared whenever possible, as if the tension that previously barred you from interaction had dissipated into nothingness.
at some point, he dropped off a neatly wrapped bento box to your desk, the fabric littered with small dinosaur doodles.
“what is this?” you questioned, an amused lilt to your voice. you failed to notice the way pink rose to his ears, too enamored by the intricate arrangement of veggies and rice.
“don’t think anything of it. i just had leftover food and didn’t want to waste it.” the excuse slipped through his lips as if it were truth, earning him a soft smile from you.
there were butterflies whipping their wings against his ribcage so aggressively they might have bulged out from his skin.
eventually, you invited him out for a walk to the convenience store nearby during your break. and after that, it became routine. with an umbrella in one hand and his wallet in another, tsukishima walked with you down the street to buy onigiri and sandwiches and sometimes a sweet treat nearly every day, and that shared hour became his favorite part of work.
it was silly.
you sat beside him in the booth, your blistered hands carefully unwrapping the plastic from your meal. to your left sat a can of soda. and to your right, he was there.
“i need to stop living off of these,” you complained while motioning towards the onigiri in your grasp.
tsukishima shook his head. “what else would you eat?”
“your bento boxes,” you commented absentmindedly, your bites becoming larger as you neared the center of the rice. “i liked it, when you gave it to me that one time. you should make it again.”
he looked away, his chin resting atop the sweat of his palm. slowly, he turned towards you. “it’s just a bento box. surely you can handle making one.”
“oh, shut up!” you laughed while shoving him lightly. “the fact that you can even make one is shocking. all you have in that head is volleyball and shit.”
“our old test scores say otherwise,” he quipped. the shift in your eyes left a bitter taste on his tongue.
“whatever,” you muttered before leaving to throw out your trash. a pit grew in tsukishima’s stomach.
the blonde mustered the last of his resolve and made an offer. “i’ll teach you how to make one.”
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
of all the things tsukishima was bracing himself to see, a thinly-walled apartment that was less than well-maintained was the last thing he was prepared for.
you came out from your bedroom in clothes that were far more casual than his, your hair disheveled and your steps uneven. “sorry for the mess,” you uttered while bending down to pick up a hoodie sprawled across the floor, alongside a plastic bag that looked empty. he could only watch in awe.
he placed his bag down on your counter before arranging the ingredients, each brought from his own home. the clatter of your rushed cleaning echoed behind him. and when you finally stood beside the man, he could not contain his grin.
tsukishima decided to hold his tongue. instead, he opted to gently guide your hands through each step, the perspiration collecting on his skin a stark contrast from the rough texture of yours. he realized how little you knew, despite your insistence that you were more than knowledgeable in what you were doing — it showed in your unstable cutting and your hesitance when preparing the pot for boiling — but he refrained from commenting, in fear of disrupting the peace he’d constructed.
on the other hand, you were horrified.
to admit that you were inferior to him in yet another aspect uprooted the envy you had burrowed deep within yourself, and you were terrified of letting it overspill. he was so calm — at least, that was what it looked like — and you’d be damned to ruin it.
mitski’s soft hums reverberated in the background, your shaky chopping filling in the rest of the noise. it was almost satirical — the solemn melodies coated your bare bones and rendered you silent, a strong juxtaposition to the warmth exuded from the closeness of your skin to his. neither of you did anything to interfere, save for an earlier comment from the man questioning your music taste.
(“then what do you listen to?”
“… radiohead.”
“wow. as if that’s any better than mitski.”)
tsukishima found himself smiling at your pride in your creation. messy, yes. but within each ingredient lay a remnant of him, and that was enough.
a stream of small talk emerged into you sitting on the couch together. the music dimmed down to white noise and an old romcom that had only two star ratings played on your TV, the poor quality adding to the humor. your legs leaned against his beneath the blanket. and there was peace.
tsukishima knew what it was. he knew what this would blossom into, and he could only hope and pray he didn’t mess it up in some way. your quiet yet crude commentary disappeared into the tender air, and he remained silent, as if absorbing each syllable that fell from your lips.
it was so quiet, and so vulnerable, and so delicate that he felt like he was going to explode.
he didn’t question it when your head fell onto his shoulder. he didn’t make fun of you when your colorful reviews on each scene turned into sleepy ramblings. and he didn’t say a word when you dozed off against him, your whole body against his.
instead, he looked around. he took note of the dust collecting on the cabinets, the water marks on the windows, the clothes and food and plastic scattered all over your living room, the dead plant on the shelf, and the half-empty pack of cigarettes sitting on the arm of the couch. it was all a far, far cry from the cleanliness and stability of his own home, and yet, he thought to himself, this is so like them. and he thought, i could live in here, if it were with them. and again, he thought, this could be a home.
tsukishima kei was of the belief that he did not have a type. but as he observed your house and reflected on its singular (?) inhabitant, he figured that this was his type. his type was your quiet laughs and your sharp remarks and your wrinkled clothes and the scent of cigarettes that always seemed to cling to you. his type was you.
he exchanged one last glance to your sleeping figure before getting up and leaving you to rest. not without wrapping up your lunch for tomorrow, and not without a small smile on his lips.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
hell came to you on a thursday morning — the day following whatever had happened between you and tsukishima. you hadn’t put on your uniform just yet, and your belongings sat outside of your locker.
your boss scrambled into the office, his brows furrowed and his larger hands closing the door as quickly as he could without slamming it. the sweat that collected between his wrinkles shined beneath the dim lights. his breaths were haggard and rushed and shallow.
for the first time in a long time, you felt fear.
“there’s people who want to talk to you outside,” he whispered. “they want to talk to you now.”
there was no one else in the building. no one other than you, your boss, and the people who were so adamant on speaking to you.
so why was it so loud as soon as you stepped out?
the eyes of your mother came into your vision first. then, the stare of your father. and finally, their faces blended into one large picture that made sense.
“what the fuck are you doing here?”
withered hands slammed against the table. you watched the papers and the dinosaur trinkets rattle. “that’s no way to speak to your parents.” you could feel it — the air seeping out of your lungs, depriving you of breath; the trembling in your palms; the cloudiness in your peripherals. you could hear them, but you couldn’t hear them. at some point, their vocabulary was solely financial, and at another point, it grew cruel and violent, akin to wild dogs gnawing away at your skin. you didn’t know where it was going. the hastened footsteps of an unidentifiable coworker neared, and the shaky breaths of your boss behind the door grew louder and louder.
you needed to leave.
your feet led you away before your mind could. the yelling softened, until finally, the only sound was the chirp of birds and the whirring of cars.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
tsukishima didn’t see you for a week. he didn’t hear any mention of your name, didn’t find your face in a crowd, didn’t feel the vibrations of your voice against his chest. you had disappeared, and no one told him why. it wasn’t until your name didn’t show up on the schedule that something clicked.
it was cruel. you were cruel, he decided.
tadashi sat on the couch while his roommate leaned against the counter. the hum of the air conditioning blinded the blonde’s senses.
“i don’t fucking know what i did,” tsukishima groaned into his palms for the twentieth time that night. “they just left. they quit and i can’t even contact them because i was stupid enough to not ask for their number or email or anything. i don’t- i don’t fucking know, ‘dashi, i don’t.”
“i’m sure they had some good reason,” his friend attempted. “i don’t think they’d do that if it weren’t within some sensible limit. it was fucked, yeah, but… i don’t know. i think they’ll come back when the time is right.”
it was tiring. it was tiring to be left alone not just once, but twice. and it was tiring to have it hurt so much more the second time.
tsukishima ran a hand through his hair. “it’s so stupid.” another groan spilled from his tongue. “i’m so fucking tired of this.”
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
this was just about the fourth job you had applied for.
the museum could no longer be a part of your routine — instead, it morphed into loud nights and bustling men and the clinking of glass; it emerged from quiet and gentle tours around dinosaur exhibits to noisy cheers and yelling and the more-than-occasional bottle thrown at your head; it turned into pure, devastating loneliness.
it was compact. it was suffocating. it was overwhelming. it was everything the museum was not. but you could not return there, no matter how much you ached for it.
you were avoiding him. avoiding everyone.
a gentle nudge from a blurred face reminded you that your shift was over for the night, coupled with an apology for the gash that formed on your head from another drunken man who had no outlet for his anger other than you. with heavy steps, you trudged back home, thankful for the week’s pay and the free food and drinks.
it was quiet.
the lights were off, and the LED numbers on the microwave read way past midnight. a dull pounding resided in your chest.
just the other day, it was so vibrant. you were alive, and so was he, and it was going well. but it was wrong. you realized that much when your parents came to remind you, and you realized it again as you quit the same day.
the thumping in your chest spread to your head, and your back met the wall with a force that was sure to upset your neighbors. carefully, daintily, you slid down, your body reaching the floor gently.
you missed him. but it was wrong.
that night, for the first time in a long while, you cried.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
tucked away in a small alley in sendai resided an establishment with only three tables and a bar that was worn down from years of use. and behind it, tsukishima found you.
he was only out for a walk. at least, that was what it was until his feet brought him elsewhere and he stood face-to-face with the most suspicious of buildings. and when he saw you, it felt as if all the anger and guilt and distress that riddled his bones and flesh and blood withered away, as if it hadn’t coalesced within his veins over the past month.
before you could hide, his hand snaked around your wrist, his touch light yet desperate. “can we talk?”
talking entailed bringing him back to your apartment. and by extension, it included him witnessing your house somehow being worse than before.
tsukishima found himself sitting on the floor with his back to the couch, and you found yourself sprawled across said couch. he picked at the blisters on his fingers before quietly asking, “why did you do that?”
he could hear your nervous habits — the shifting, the fidgeting, the harsh lip biting. “i don’t know.”
“bullshit,” he muttered under his breath.
you turned over onto your side to face his back. “my parents found me,” you explained meekly. improper guidance leads to destructive tendencies. tsukishima kei, in his high school years, was deemed your only obstacle to complete succession — always a few points ahead, a few questions ahead, a few steps ahead — and your poor influence from youth only fueled such a fire. and so, you felt that it was reasonable to loathe him. your judgement was clouded beyond repair.
tsukishima listened. he listened to every detail, every portion of your retelling of each segment of your childhood, and your teen years, and your silly hatred for him. he listened to you talk about what you did after graduation — how you got into a good university but dropped out and hopped between a multitude of jobs (thus proving your claim at the work party to be a lie), and how you were constantly escaping from both the stress and your parents.
he listened so intently that it was overbearing. you didn’t tell him that. instead, you talked and talked and talked until you sculpted him into someone who knew your entire life, as if he were there from the beginning.
“i’m sorry,” you whispered through stubborn tears. you hated it — how exposing it was, how you had practically dumped everything onto him in one go, how you couldn’t help but beg for forgiveness in the end. most of all, you hated how easily he gave you his forgiveness.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
tsukishima didn’t leave your house at all that week. you found no energy to complain.
in the morning, you’d find him cleaning whatever disaster you left behind, whether it was the pile of laundry on your bed or the collection of full trash bags next to the front door or the food (or rather, the lack thereof) in your fridge. he was silent all the while, and that hurt more than any berating he could have done.
“why are you still here?” you asked him one night. you had finally moved from the couch to the bed, and tsukishima couldn’t be any prouder. (any movement at all was enough to be proud of, he felt). “you shouldn’t want to be here.”
you watched him heave a heavy breath as his shoulders drooped. “because i want you,” he admitted, his voice unmistakably tender and soft and ridden with a youthfulness that he unearthed from deep within himself. “i want to be with you and i want you to be happy and i just want us to be happy together, for once.”
he spoke of his affections so fluently, as if he were born to share them with you. and still, every bone in your body was whispering otherwise.
even so, tsukishima promised that he would be willing to wait. even if it meant watching you down an unreasonable amount of beer at an unreasonable hour.
he promised to sit through it all with you, even if it meant listening to you call his name out in long, drawn-out tones. even if it meant hearing you confess your long-harbored affection for him. even if it meant hearing you say that you never told him, not even in high school, because you felt like you didn’t deserve to tell him.
tsukishima didn’t understand.
he failed to comprehend how you didn’t feel deserving, when his whole body, mind, and soul was bound to you; when, in the depths of the night, he’d burn pink in the night at the mere thought of you; when he was so uncharacteristically smitten for you. he didn’t get it. he didn’t think he ever would.
not that he said anything about it — at least, not in that moment. not when you were inexplicably drunk, to the point where you couldn’t move a limb without tumbling over.
but, without a doubt, he went to bed with a stupid grin and a berry-kissed face.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
it took another couple of weeks before tsukishima would see you at work again. you entered through the doors as if you never left, and he wasn’t sure if he was supposed to be excited or neutral or anything else, because his guts only knew tenderness with you at that point — all the fake ignorance and stubbornness and denial had been cast aside.
you basked in a shared silence in the locker room, until you finally admitted that you were, in fact, healing. to some degree, at least. you asked him to come over again under the pretense of seeing how clean your house was. you detailed every segment of your life, from when he last saw you to your entrance into the museum, including how you made yourself breakfast for the first time in forever and how you drank a cup of water almost every day. and he was so overwhelmingly proud, so much so that it spilled over and he couldn’t contain himself.
“i love you,” he blurted out, his rushed admission cutting off your rambling. you whipped your head towards him, but he was looking everywhere except for you.
“what?” you exclaimed.
“i said i love you. i’m in love with you. what don’t you get?”
your jaw hung open, just like that of a fish. “wait- what the fuck?” much to his amusement, you jumped up and began pacing around the room. “i like- well, i guess, love,” you paused, the vocabulary uncomfortable on your teeth. “you too, but like- what the fuck? who told you that?”
“you did.”
“what?”
tsukishima kei was laughing. he was laughing at you, and yet, you weren’t as angry as you expected to be. he was laughing, and all you could do was relish in the noise.
“so,” he hummed delightfully, an amused smirk on his lips. “am i still coming over?”
you (begrudgingly) agreed. again, he laughed — this time, at the heat rising to your face.
𝜗𝜚 。 ˚.
through the cracks between your blinds, silk strands of sunlight crawled through, a soft reminder of the morning. beside you, a mountain of warmth lay, with his glasses still on his face and his hoodie misshapen on his body.
tsukishima was always the first to rise. he would wait for your eyes to flit open gently before getting up and making breakfast, despite your protests that your food was probably better than his. he never listened.
the splatter of coffee into your cup served as the only noise in the room, save for the dull noise of the morning news on the TV and the cars passing by outside the window. you watched intently as the blonde set up the table, his lip drawn in a tight line but his eyes shimmering with contentment. “eat up,” he spoke quietly as he took a seat in front of you.
tsukishima kei was, by no means, a cruel person. he was just a little rough on the edges and occasionally didn’t quite know how to say things without being mean. but as he sat with you, eating breakfast made by him in your shared apartment; as he pressed a fleeting kiss to your forehead before leaving to change, ignoring your groans about the remnants of syrup on his lips; as he drove you to work as the sun settled in the sky; you realized he was simply a man in love.

messenger [tsukishima kei]
Tumblr media
synopsis: you and yamaguchi are best friends with tsukishima. nearly everyday girls come up to the two of you to ask about the blonde and you both have had just enough. little do you know that yamaguchi has a plan of his own to get the chatting to stop...
notes: based off the sole fact that it's canon that girls only go up to yamaguchi to ask him about tsukki, which obviously means he's popular with girls. this was originally written as a stand-alone but i decided to submit it for lexi's @suckerforsugawara first time for everything collab! i apologize for how late this is, writer’s block got the best of me.
warnings: reader is very much in their head, angst at first but eventual fluff with good ending
word count: 4kei
for as smart as tsukishima kei is, he sure is oblivious to how girls flirt with him.
everyday a good number of girls around campus whisper and talk about how they find the blonde middle blocker attractive. about how much a good boyfriend he would make. it amazes you to no end how much the tall and silent type attract people. you could probably end up rich with how much you hear about him, because there's seriously not one day where you don't hear his name.
at first, most of the comments make you laugh. over time though, you begin to roll your eyes and scoff. you don't understand why so many people like him. half the time you see how tsukishima interacts with hinata and kageyama and it isn't in the nicest or most pleasant way. it just looks like a complete circus act. you truly feel sorry for daichi and suga.
tsukishima is just...mean. if you had a boyfriend who treated you like that, you'd dump him on the spot.
but maybe you are a hypocrite because while you think of all these things, you're still friends with him.
...if you can even call it that—you're sure tsukishima just 'tolerates' you. but the fact that you and yamaguchi are the two he spends the most time with obviously means something. he also begrudgingly helps you with your homework and walks you home from class all the time.
it means something...right?
today is no different from many other days as you watch hinata and kageyama get into a heated screaming match about god knows what. tsukishima is on the side snickering to yamaguchi. everyone else is helplessly by standing.
but you, on the other hand, are in your own little world. you're one of the managers for karasuno university's volleyball team. currently, you're filling up water bottles for the team. being in the role as manager, you've become a master at zoning out hinata and kageyama's bickering.
but you did not expect that this skill would one day work against you.
"hinata, kageyama! watch out!" ennoshita shouts, but it's already too late. you feel the unruly force of a volleyball hit you, making you drop the bottles you're filling up and spill water on the ground.
"are you okay?" yamaguchi rushes to help you to your feet, shooting the offending people a small glare. kageyama and hinata shiver at tadashi's gaze and begin to profusely apologize.
"i'm okay, yams. thank you." you dust off your clothes and laugh, "it's nothing i can't help when those two get carried away."
"we are so sorry!" hinata cries, nearly tripping over himself to get to you. kageyama sheepishly let's out a 'sorry' before his face flushes a bright red.
you open your mouth to assure them you're fine, but a certain voice beats you to it.
"are you two that incompetent that you'll take out our manager in the middle of one of your childish games?" the voice hisses. "i knew the two of you were stupid, but you both surprise me every day. i have to start lowering my bar more."
you don't have to turn to know who it is.
tsukishima turns to you, a displeased look on his face. if you squint, you can see his concern. "and you really need to work on watching your surroundings. i'd rather not have to take you to the hospital." he scolds, picking up the bottles from the ground. he swats your hand away when you reach out for them and you puff out your cheeks, frustrated.
he always does this, where you can't tell if he cares for you, or if he's just being mean. maybe you’re reading into things too closely.
you watch his eyes scan your figure intently and you flinch when you feel him touch you. your breath hitches at how close he is, close enough to see the specks of gold in his eyes from behind the lenses of his sports googles.
his hand gently turns your face to either side, "are you hurt anywhere?"
at the feeling of his hand on your arm, you feel it burn at the source of his touch.  you quickly recover and answer that you're fine. he studies your face for a moment longer to detect if you're lying but doesn't prod for any more answers.
not too far away does yamaguchi note the gesture between you two, but doesn't say anything.
the rest of practice runs by smoothly and you have practically forgotten that you were hit with a volleyball. before you know it, it's over and everyone calls it a day before filing out to the lock room.
tsukishima announces that he has to go somewhere after practice and for you and yamaguchi to not wait up for him. neither of you question him on his whereabouts because chances are he won't even tell you anyways.
as punishment for hitting you with the volleyball, kageyama and hinata are responsible for cleaning up the gym and locking up, which gives you the advantage of getting home early. down to two, you and yamaguchi start your trek home, the convo floating between school, volleyball, and other interests.
"yamaguchi-san?"
the two of you turn at the sound of a girl. she looks anxious and nervous and holds a pink envelope in her hands.
"hi! what can i do for you?" he smiles, green eyes bright and inviting.
the girl seems to gain confidence at yamaguchi's smile. "i have this confession for tsukishima-kun...but i don't know how to give it to him, so i was wondering if you would give it to him for me?" the girl explains shyly. her eyes shift to you and widen. "you're not dating tsukishima-san are you?"
your eyes widen at the accusation and you bust out a laugh, hard. maybe too hard.
"me? date him? i could never!"
after your embarrassing and short-lived laughing party, yamaguchi reluctantly agrees to take the letter to give to tsukishima. a strange feeling wells up in your chest at the sight, and you don't know why you felt disappointed in him doing so.
as soon as the girl leaves, you see yamaguchi's shoulders sag and his smile fades.
"what's wrong, yams?" you nudge your best friend in the side, noting the way he picks at the skin on his hand anxiously.
"nothing," he answers, "we need to get going now."
you pull him back. "it's not 'nothing'. come on, what is it?"
you watch as he takes a moment to gather his thoughts before he replies, "i appreciate and care about tsukki and all, but it really sucks that girls only talk to me about him." he pouts, puffing out his cheeks.
"it's probably because you're much more approachable than mr. blonde beanpole." you suggest, shrugging your shoulders. "frankly, I don't know why or what people see in him. he's not very people-friendly. plus he always walks around with a scowl on his face. but i too wish they would stop asking us about him. what did suckyshima do to get so many confessions all the time..."
your freckled faced friend raises his brows, amused by your passionate rambling. "are you jealous?" he asks, head tilting in inquiry.
"w-what? no! why would i be?" you scoff, feeling your heart race in your chest. "the only thing i'm jealous of is that beanpole blonde's attention." you say. "i would very much like to be confessed to as often as he gets!"
"you would hate it," yamaguchi chuckles, "you don't even like getting attention. especially from guys."
you click your tongue, not knowing how to disagree with him. "maybe, but it wouldn't hurt to have it happen once in a while, you know?" you sigh, "i can't go my entire life without experiencing a confession!"
you must've had a terrible past life to have such an unlucky dating experience. you've never had a guy ask you out. and while you don't like to be arrogant you consider yourself cute and a decent person—more so decent than glasses-kun.
"well, more guys would approach you if it wasn't for tsukki." yamaguchi says, and immediately upon speaking covers his mouth.
you raise a brow at your friend, "eh? what do you mean by that?"
before he can answer, you huff, "you're telling me blondie is messing up my love life? what does he gain from doing that?" you huff, feeling irritated that the number of cute boys you could've encountered is very little due to the fact that they were being cockblocked by the most annoying person on the planet.
yamaguchi would never tell you, and god bless your soul, but he's forever thankful for how oblivious you are at times. his skin is saved from having to explain to tsukishima why his crush on you has been outed.
but on the other hand, he desperately wants these confession shenanigans to be over with and for the two of you to confess to each other. to him, it's painfully obvious that there are shared feelings but neither one of you want to acknowledge the fact that there's something going on. he'd rather take the risk of tsukishima biting his head off if it means you two will end up together.
"let's just say that the two of you complain about each other too much for there not to be something going on between you two." yamaguchi says. "i just wish you'd both make out with each other or something."
panic swarms you, at the meer thought of locking lips with blondie. "tadashi, i would never be caught kissing him. i'd rather be dead." you say sternly, although an itch in your throat tells you otherwise.
"yeah, i totally got the vibe of that earlier when he came over to see if you were okay." he laughs, rolling his eyes.
"it didn't mean anything, he was just oddly nice..." you argue, the rapid beating of your heart mocking you.
the sudden silence could be cut through with a knife as you two walk. your knuckles grip your bag tightly as you focus on your feet in front of you.
"your crush never went away, right?" yamaguchi stops walking and looks at you intently.
when you don't respond, he knows his answer.
"that's another reason why i don't like getting these confessions. i don't want to see you get hurt by all of this." he reveals, his hand gripping the pink envelope he was given earlier.
"it doesn't matter, though. what i feel is irrelevant.” you shrug.
yamaguchi perks up, a light bulb going off. he presses the envelope to your hands. "you give this to him. you can find out what he says about the letter and how it makes him feel. he might act differently. that way, you can also decide if those feelings for him are still there, or if you've moved on. if you haven’t, then confess."
you turn away, not taking the envelope. your feet then move briskly. "what makes you think that he would accept my confession? there's no way he would."
"what's stopping you?" he presses, following you. "you don't know that unless you try."
a sharp exhale of air escapes you, your nerves taking your own words out of your mouth. "because i don't want to make a relationship awkward possibly. besides, he'll just make fun of me for having a crush on him and then reject me. so no way is tsukki going to accept it."
"he wouldn't do that. and you know he wouldn't. look, we both know tsukki better than anyone else does. i'm surprised at how blind you are to how he feels about you. or maybe you're denying it?"
before you can reply, you realize you've reached your apartment.
"just think about telling him? it'll ease your mind somehow, won't it? at least you'll have your answer and you can stop letting this eat at you the way it has for years." yamaguchi says, concern written on his face.
you sigh. "sure, tadashi. i'll think about it."
Tumblr media
you don't get a wink of sleep that night. and despite you wanting more time to think, you are meeting up with tsukishima and yamaguchi to hangout the next day. so even if you want to put off your thoughts about the situation, you can't.
"you look like shit," tsukishima says once you sit down at the cafe the three of you always meet up at. "like a zombie with the life is sucked out of them.”
“wow, how did you guess?” you say, response dripping with sarcasm.
a guilty look appears on his face before he changes it to a softer expression. "here, i already ordered for you." he says, pushing your favorite order across the counter.
"oh, thank you. you didn't have to." you reach into your bag to pay him back, but he pushes your hand away, a grimace on his face.
"yeah, well i did anyways." he says, turning away. a faint hue of pink can be seen across his cheeks. “you should really try not to over exert yourself. we can’t afford to have our manager collapsing.”
you stare at the drink, mind rambling. “right…”
tsukishima distracts himself with the time, noticing how late yamaguchi is. it isn’t like him to be late. once the male checks his phone, everything clicks into place.
"tadashi says he won't be able to make it to the movies." tsukishima tells you, slipping his phone back in his pocket.
"really?" you go to pull your own phone out of your bag to check, but something else catches your eyes first.
the pink envelope.
you gasp, gritting your teeth. "tadashi, you bastard..." you hiss, wondering when he slipped it into your bag.
"yeah, something about feeling sick..." the tall man's eyes slide down to look at you, and as attentive as he is he asks, "what are you grumbling about?"
you eyes glance between him and the letter, panic washes over you as you try to improvise a lie.
tsukishima leans over, peering into your bag. “what is that?” he asks.
solemnly, you hand him the pink envelope. cotton has lodged itself in your throat but you manage. "this...this is for you."
“from?” he questions, but he already knows it’s not you. you don’t dot your i’s like that.
“the usual. some girl with a crush on you.” you answer, “she didn’t know how to give it you directly.”
opening the letter, his brown eyes scan the contents carefully, silence overcoming him as he drinks in each word.
meanwhile, your heart races rapidly. you can feel yourself beginning to spiral in your mind, thinking of all the possibilities of what could happen next after he finishes reading the letter. instead of hearing anything, the blonde simply puts the letter back in the envelope.
“let’s go.” he says, standing up to leave.
wait...that's it? you watch him leave the cafe and scramble after him, confusion trailing you.
when you catch up to tsukishima, your eyes glance at him, trying to gauge anything. something.
"well?" you ask, brow arching up.
"'well' what?" he replies, staring at you expressionless.
"are you...going to accept?" you prod, leg bouncing.
the man seems to contemplate your question, not answering for a moment. the anticipation is killing you. swallowing you whole. you have to say something before you’re buried alive.
"don't accept that confession." you blurt.
"huh?" the blonde slips the envelope in his pocket. "and why not?"
you shift uncomfortably in your spot. "b-because."
"'b-because', isn't an answer. i hope you're aware." he mocks before stepping closing to you, a sly smirk on his face. "why do you look like you're about to throw up? is the thought of me getting a confession that repulsive to you?"
"shut up!" you hiss, the burning in your cheeks spreading like wildfire now. "i never said that."
"you didn't have to. your face said everything that i needed to know." he replies, "why are you so eager to know anyways?"
you shrug, "i mean, we're friends right? why wouldn't i be curious?"
a soft chuckle leaves him. it's pretty, and pretty looks very good on him. how annoying for your nerves. "right, and let's say i do accept the confession. what would you do then?"
you blink, your hands clammy, body scorching at this point. "dunno, maybe throw a party with a sign that says 'congrats kei, you're lovable after all'."
"you're a horrible liar, you know. it's very annoying." tsukishima scowls, grabbing your wrist and turning you to look at him.
"who said i was going to accept the confession?" he tilts his head to the side, leaning in slightly. "hmm? i think you put that idea in that pretty head of yours all by yourself."
you huff, irritated by his teasing manner."it's not funny to joke like that."
he blinks. "when did i make a joke?"
"you always do...i don't understand you, tsukishima." at this point you can feel your face burning up. you look away from the blonde, frustrated and also internally panicking. when you go to walk away, his large hand catches your wrist, pulling you back.
"so now we're back to tsukishima?" he asks, distaste in his tone.
you bite your lip, too scared to say anything.
he clicks his tongue. "listen, i didn't have to read the letter to know my answer. i didn't even need to receive one. i've already had my mind made up."
a soft 'oh' leaves your mouth. "is that right?"
"yes, because i already have feelings for someone." he confesses, and your heart nearly stops.
you weren't expecting this at all. you bargained for more than you wanted, but it’s your fault and your fault alone. you start to yell in your head about how wrong yamaguchi is, about how you're too late to confess now, because someone else has already stolen—
"this is for you." tsukishima hands a eerily similar pink envelope to you with a small plushie. your eyes widen as you look at the plush, recognizing that it's your favorite animal. you remember talking about how you still sleep with stuffed animals and made the mistake of having tsukishima overhear you. the teasing that day never ended.
when squeezing the plush to you, you're surprised to hear it play your favorite song. reading the letter, you recognize the handwriting as his immediately. you're familiar with how he loops his y's and g's. you recognize the eloquence in his words. but you feel alien reading how he pours his emotions—about you—into words. words that are a lot kinder and sweeter than his usual moments.
"why would i joke about my feelings?" he answers, pulling at his hands, fingers fidgeting. "if you don't reciprocate them—"
"no! i-i mean, yes! yes, i do!" your face is on fire at this point. "i'm just shocked, i-i wasn't expecting—"
"for someone to be into someone like you?" he finishes.
you blink, stunned by his response. "well, yeah."
and tsukishima kei does what tsukishima kei does best.
he flicks your forehead.
he rubs the spot where he flicked your forehead and his gaze becomes soft as he stares at you, his large hands not pulling back from how it gently cradles your face.
"i've been into your annoying ass since you yelled at those bullies for picking on tadashi." he mumbles, a fond look in his eyes.
your eyes look over him rapidly. "i don't get it. how? why?"
he pinches your cheek, rolling his eyes. "you keep saying that and it's really annoying." he continues, "it's simple. you're...you're a much better person than i am. you're smart...and funny. and you understand me even when my words don't always say what i mean. you've pushed me to be a better person." he tries to make himself smaller, wanting to escape his vulnerability, but it's hard when you're a walking lamppost.
"i can't stand the sight of other guys looking at you. at thinking they have a chance with you. call me a hypocrite because i know i'm the last person who deserves a chance with you, but—" he cuts himself off, fiddling his his hands.
"but what, kei?" you push, heart pounding.
"but i want one anyways. i've never felt like this with anyone before and i don't want to stop now. i...i'm willing to take the chance to ask to go out with you...even if i know you deserve better than me." he explains, head bowing low.
this time, you reach up and flick his forehead.
"ow? what the hell, dumbass?" he scowls.
"it's annoying when you do that, too," you say, teasing, "you always undermine how brilliant you are and it has to stop. you may be an asshole, but you're also perceptive, and caring, even if you don't really know how to show it in conventional ways."
he doesn't say anything because he knows you're right.
you speak again. "for the record, i think that you're pretty amazing. and a lot of other people think so too. learn to give yourself more credit, kei."
"i can say the same about you." he says, brushing hair back from your face. his eyes shift down to your lips before looking away just as quickly. his single strand of vulnerability left snaps.
"c-can i kiss you?" he stutters, and you're shocked to see the snarky blonde asshole you know in such a shy state.
"yes," you breathe, "please."
he can’t resist when you ask so nicely and look so pretty right in front of him.
and what you learn is that kei's kisses are sweeter than any words that can come out of his smart mouth. how that is possible, you don't know. but you surely don't mind at all.
he tugs you close to his body, his scent overtaking your senses. he smells like mint and whatever cologne he put on today and it's easily your new favorite aroma.
you pull away and can't help but note how pretty kei looks after kissing. hair disheveled, swollen lips, glossy eyes, and glasses nearly falling off his face. you quietly laugh and push the frames back up his face.
"i love you, you know." you say, holding his face.
he leans into you, kissing your palm as he reciprocates the words in a quiet voice. a quirk in his lips and he adds, "i would hope you do. i don't want to be seen having to return to build-a-bear for a second time to return a bear."
you grin, holding up the bear teasingly. "this plush?"
"oni-chan said i should give you something...that you'd appreciate. it's yours as long as you don't replace me with it." he answers, red creeping up his neck. "if you do, i'll return it."
"don't worry, kei. i promise not to replace you with a stuffed animal when i need cuddles." you latch onto his arm, clinging to him easily. he tugs you impossibly closer.
sending yamaguchi a text thank you and a picture of you with your new bear—now named tadashi—with an annoyed tsukishima holding you tight in the photo. 'new family photo! you were right!'.
yamaguchi only grins at the message, laying back on his bed as he smiles. his work as cupid is over. he'd figure out the third wheeling issue later.
for now, mission accomplished.

TSUKISHIMA KEI
Arguments with Kei usually arise whenever he starts crossing the line with his snarky and sarcastic remarks. There are times when he doesn’t know to limit himself when he blurts out things as if they are some kind of joke most of the time. When you started opening up to him regarding your recent insecurity and he slammed you with a sarcastic response, you felt awfully shit. It took you a muster of courage to bring it up to Kei yet, he didn’t see it as something serious.
“Seriously Kei? You know how hard it is for me to open up with how I feel and yet, you made me feel like shit.”
“What Y/N? I was just joking, don’t be so pressed about it.” You felt your blood boiling with how he perceived your point of view.
“Pressed? Are you fucking kidding me Tsukishima?” You never call him with his last name except for today because you had enough of him.
“If you’re going to continue treating me like this then I have no choice but to leave.”
You spat and pulled your heavy heart up to walk out of Kei’s apartment. Kei felt a shiver down his spine as he watched your figure slowly moving away from him. For the first time in his whole life, he felt a massive fear strike down his insides, fingers curling into his palms. When you shut the door of his apartment quietly, Kei swore he saw his whole life flashback in his eyes.
“I..fuck. I fucked up so much.”
Letting out a heavy breath, Kei stood up and hurriedly followed you before you could even slip away from his life. When he opened the door, he saw your figure walking away not so far from his door. With all his speed, he ran towards you and softly grabbed your arm just above your elbow so that he could see your face. But when he saw that you were crying messily, his heart ached and broke down. The fact that you were crying because of him broke him so much inside.
“I’m…so sorry, Y/N. I crossed the line.” He said softly, keeping the eye contact.
The following hours were spent with him holding you in his chest as you cry your heart out. Kei will listen to your sobs as he caresses your back. Once you calmed down, he will start apologizing sincerely more and will make no excuse for what he has done to you.
Days after that, Kei was extra sweet and will often check you out, especially with your mental and emotional stability. He never wanted to see you turning your back from him as you walk away because he’ll never be able to forgive himself if you leave him, especially when he’s the reason why.
KAGEYAMA TOBIO
Tobio thinks of nothing but volleyball. If he will be asked to pick anything versus volleyball, he'll definitely pick the latter. You don’t have an issue with this because, in the first place, you know what you are going into when you committed with Tobio.
However, when Tobio starts to get injured frequently, you began worrying like mad crazy. Tobio has the habit of over practising himself that’s why you were trying to convince him to take a break and only practice during his official practice hours.
“Are you trying to change my mind about playing volleyball? Because it’s not going to happen, Y/N.”
However, he thought of it the other way around.
“What? I am not trying to change your mind, Tobio. My side is that you have to rest too. You cannot overwork yourself and come home limping every single day because it hurts me and it hurts you too!”
“You know what? If you’re not going to support me with volleyball then leave. I don’t need someone who cannot understand how important my career is.”
Your heart shattered into pieces when he flipped the whole goddamn conversation into something else. You felt your insides being twisted with your significant other asking you to leave.
“Tobio, I have been supporting you since day one and you know I will always support you. However, if it's going to lead you to self-destruction then you’ll lose a supporter.”
With teary eyes, you pulled yourself up and walked out straight of his apartment. In a matter of seconds, Tobio realized that you left for real. As he watched you walk away from him, Tobio knows that he’s about to lose you for real.
“Shit shit, no! Y/N!”
He yelled but you chose not to look back because if you do, you know you’ll fall for him again. But Tobio is a fast runner and caught up with you immediately.
“Please…No. I don’t want to lose you, Y/N. I..am sorry, love.” Tobio breathed out, hands resting on your shoulder for support because his foot hurt like hell.
Tobio knows he didn’t mean any of the words he said to you. Losing you was the last thing he wanted to happen in his life and he knows that if he lost you, he’ll never be able to pick up the volleyball again because it’ll scar him forever that you left because of it. You got a point, you were just concerned and he’s being stubborn.
Melting into your boyfriend’s arm, you took him back to the apartment. A couple of hours later were spent in the living room with you icing his bruised foot and booking an appointment trip to the hospital the next day. Turns out that he sprained his foot and will be needing at least a week of rest.
Tobio will probably be silent the following days, reflecting on his words and actions however, he’ll also reach a breaking point and apologize to you with all his heart. He cannot stand the fact that he told you to leave yet, you’re here, taking care of him like there’s no tomorrow. He’s a goddamn lucky one.
KITA SHINSUKE
We all know that Shinsuke is pretty strict with how he keeps things in his life organized. He follows a strict routine every day and is calm with life. However, when he encounters people that are not as efficient as him, there’s a tendency that he’ll lose control and will try to control your life.
You explained to Shinsuke that both of you have different approaches to how you deal with things in life. If he’s someone that doesn’t give a shit about some things in life, you’re the type to let everything sink in first before moving forward.
But this particular argument burst your last ounce of patience with explaining to him because he invalidated your feelings.
“Shinsuke, how many times do I have to explain to you that I cannot just push myself to do things that I cannot do at the moment? I am having a slump day and the least you can do is either offer me comfort or just leave me alone.”
“How long are you going to stay like that? The world will not stop for you just because you’re sad. Stop acting like that and do what you have to do.”
Shinsuke didn’t realize the impact of his words not until he heard no response from you. Turning to see you once more, he saw you wearing a blank expression. Honestly, he got a point but what matters the most for you at the moment is how you feel your emotions first before you heal and move forward. And Shinsuke just invalidated that.
“Okay.” You replied, standing up from your seat, and heading towards the door.
“Where are you going?” Shinsuke asked with arms crossing against his chest.
“Out.” With that, you didn’t even bother to wait for his response and exited the apartment. Shinsuke was confused at first but he figured out you wanted some space right now. Sighing, he didn’t chase you and continued with his daily routine.
Outside was you, heart heavy as you let yourself get lost with your slump day. You thought that going for a walk alone was actually nice and helped you clear your thoughts out of your head so you let yourself walk for hours without a destination.
On the other hand, Shinsuke already finished his afternoon routine and was just lounging around the living room. Glancing at his phone, he saw that the sun will set soon and realized that it has been hours since you left and you didn’t text him a single message.
Panicking, hen rang your number a few times.
“Shin-”
“Y/N, where are you?”
You heard things rummaging around in the background followed by keys jiggling. Eventually, Shinsuke came to pick you up because it’s getting late and he’s worried. When Shinsuke found you sitting on the bench by the river, he swear he felt calmness and peace inside with you.
“I’m sorry, darling. I invalidated how you feel.”
Shinsuke will speak softly to you and will not hesitate to acknowledge his mistakes. If you chose to stay silent, he’ll understand it and will just watch the sunset with you. Shinsuke knows that it’s his mistake and he’s in no place to decide when to be forgiven. He may look calm but he’s actually felt fear inside because he doesn’t want to lose you.
If you decided to forgive him, Shinsuke will squeeze your hand as a sign of affirmation and comfort. No matter what decision you’ll pick, expect that Shinsuke will spend the following days making it up to you with his small actions.
He wanted you to feel safe and loved with him because you are one of the things that he treasures the most.

𝐇𝐀𝐈𝐊𝐘𝐔𝐔
summary: a small argument results in long-term consequences.
warnings: light angst, insecurities, suggestive stuff towards the end
pairing: tsukishima kei x popular!reader
notes: did you guys know tsuki is actually really insecure about himself?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
why did you ever think dating an outwardly rude guy was such a great idea?
there you were, sobbing into your pillow because the both of you had an argument. the whole thing was just idiotic in a sense; the argument started out with a discussion about something stupid but turned heated as you both went on and on.
of course, the two of you had had arguments before but they weren't to the extent that you had to press pause on the relationship.
that was the exact reason you were currently sobbing.
it was never excepted that this argument would have tsukishima impulsively pause the relationship.
you didn't get to cry for long as your eyelids felt heavy and before you knew it, you had fallen asleep.
the next day was hell because you had to act like nothing was wrong—like everything was perfect in your life. the most popular student shouldn't have a flaw nor problem in her life. that was the standard you set for yourself to follow.
so with that, you put on a charming smile and proceeded to behave as though nothing was wrong.
it irritated tsukishima when he watched you interact with others in such a normal way, even he was acting more impolite than usual because of your fight. you, on the other hand, were acting as if everything were fine and dandy.
and he didn't like that.
"you know, you can go apologize instead of just watching from a distance like a stranger."
yamaguchi suggests but tsukishima only tells him to shut up, which the green haired boy happily complies to.
how would i even begin to apologize if she's treating things like normal?
the taller male doesn't voice these thoughts, though, as he feels it would be useless to get advice from yamaguchi.
even at practice he notices you're more chipper than usual. it was the calm before the storm, tsukishima concludes finally.
the first few hours of school you hadn't talked with your boyfriend and it was fine, but when the last hours of school ticked by you grew worried.
you knew tsukishima was a stubborn and prideful guy, and so it wasn't a problem when you two wouldn't talk for a few hours. but he would never go to the extent of straight up ignoring you for eight days.
at this point, you were close to breaking down in public because of this. other students have already began noticing your extremely happy mood these past few days.
friends would ask if you were alright and that you seemed off.
you denied answering any of these questions and only resumed with whatever you were doing because you didn't want to worry them.
in light of this, you reacted strangely and this caused students to be more attentive of you.
well, not everyone.
your boyfriend still ignores you—even if you make the effort to try and talk to him.
"oi, tsukishima."
tsukishima looks up from his seat on the floor of the gym and sees kageyama with that serious expression of his.
the blonde only raises an eyebrow at his sudden appearance.
"what did you do?"
kageyama asks which shocks tsukishima slightly, the king would never talk to him about anything other than volleyball—unless accompanied by the ginger.
"what?"
"to my sister."
not even about his own sister.
the raven points at you in the distance. you looked awfully gloomy—actually you've been gloomy all week, but you hid it with a deceiving smile.
tsukishima was annoyed at that, annoyed because you were behaving as though everything was fine, and annoyed because of your fight.
but why was he even angry with you?
it wasn't your fault to begin with.
"i would never do that."
you say, tears threatening to fall from your eyes. tsukishima scoffs at the answer you give him.
"i saw the messages, so don't lie to me!"
"what texts?!"
"the one with that friend of yours! that– that stranger you always text."
it was your turn to scoff at the ridiculous accusation.
"your just misunderstood, kei."
you try to explain the situation but tsukishima wouldn't have it, he was rambling at that point.
"i don't even know why you chose me. you could have chosen anyone at your disposal but you chose me out of what? pity?"
those tears feel hot against your cheeks now.
"no! i don't pity you, kei. why would i?!"
"i don't know, maybe because i asked you out in front of your classmates? maybe because i looked pathetic doing it so you just had to say yes as to not damage your reputation?"
you were shaking in bitter laugher.
"what reputation?"
"you know what i'm talking about! you're popular, you've always been so popular, perfect, likable.. so why? why, out of everyone, would you choose me?"
"because i–" i love you.
the words stumble in your mouth.
"because you're who i want, who truly sees me as me, who i can be myself around. that's why i chose you."
"well you chose wrong."
it felt as if a sword pierced through your heart when you heard those words.
"i need time to think."
"kei, wait please!"
the blonde distinctly remembers you leaving his home with red puffy eyes because of the argument.
"that's none of your business."
he finally answers, but it only makes kageyama more infuriated.
"you better fix it, fast."
is all he says, however, as he didn't want to make a scene.
"whatever."
tsukishima stands and steps to tower in front of the shorter student as he says,
"it's still none of your business."
you were watching the interaction happen with a glum look until yachi taps your shoulder. the gesture makes you turn towards her with a forced smile.
"what's wrong?"
the female student says before any words are spoken between you two.
"nothing, i'm just feeling a bit down today."
"i suppose you've been down for the past week as well?"
her words surprise you and, immediately, you glance at where tsukishima was in nervousness.
yachi also looks toward his direction and 'ah's knowingly—something she began doing instead of reacting loudly ever since you all became second years.
"relationship problems?"
"it's complicated.."
"tell me about it."
the events from that night taunted you, but you desperately wished to vent to someone—luckily it had been hitoka as she already knew about the relationship.
the second year sits on the polished wood floor and pats the space next to her.
you sigh, following her actions and sat on the floor.
"it was a fight. kei, he accused me of cheating and i tried to explain that it wasn't like that but he changed the topic to why i was even with him. he told me that i pitied him, and that i was only in a relationship with him because i didn't want to damage my reputation."
your thoughts become incoherent, unclear, and hard to follow so you pause to try and collect yourself.
"but i don't, i don't pity him– i wouldn't. i just care for him so much and i don't want to lose him. i don't know how to make this right, i don't know how to apologize because this wasn't even my fault! i just.. i just want everything to be ok between us again."
tears form in your eyes but don't spill, the agony of having to hide the frustration seemed to be reaching closer to the surface everyday.
yachi, who had been quietly listening, extends her arm for a hug.
"it's going to be alright, he'll come to you when he's ready to apologize."
"i hope it'll be soon because i don't know how much longer i can put on a fake smile."
you laugh sarcastically and stand up, holding your hand out for hitoka to take.
that was tsukishima's queue to leave the area. he overheard the conversation you had with the second year, and it made him realize it doesn't matter if his insecurities were giving him doubts.
"my duty is my heart."
he would always hear you say. he thought it was stupid, who would make their heart their duty? it was idiotic to follow your heart, that mindset would only get you hurt in the end.
but maybe, just this once, he would follow his heart.
he would follow his heart all the way back to you.
you were bidding some school friends goodbye as it was the end of school when tsukishima approached you.
the tall male looks at you and gestures to a more private place to talk.
"what do you need, kei?"
you ask. you already knew why he needed to talk, but having been ignored for a week straight, you wanted to hear him apologize.
tsukishima hesitates before speaking.
"last week i reacted poorly and irrationally. i accused you of things i know you didn't do, and i.. i'm sorry. can you forgive me?"
you cross your arms over your chest in annoyance.
"you're an asshole, you know that?"
the blonde clenches his fists at the comment as he stares at you in slight desperation. the annoyance in your expression fades as you smile brightly—which confuses tsukishima.
"you're an asshole, but i forgive you. i forgive you, tsukishima kei."
you watch as your boyfriend sighs in relief and relax at your answer.
"you aren't mad?"
"oh, i'm very mad. you ignored me for a whole week and accused me of something i would never do. of course i would be mad."
tsukishima tenses again, but you hold his hand to reassure him.
"but, i still forgive you. i care for you, kei, a lot. i don't even think i could go two days without a good morning or goodnight from you, that's how much i like you."
"i care about you too, so much. i was just feeling insecure and seeing you with other people much better than me.."
you shut him up with a squeeze of his hand and a gentle smile.
"you have every right to be insecure but trust me when i say you are more than enough for me. sure, you may be an asshole but you're my asshole, and i'm not going to replace you with anyone else for as long as i live."
"so you'll get together with someone else in the afterlife?"
kei jests and you lightly punch his arm in response, a smile growing on both your faces.
"i might if you keep talking like that."
"good luck finding someone who's more of a pain in the ass than me."
arrogant as always, you roll your eyes at the comment jokingly.
"it won't be hard."
the words come out as a whisper as you pull him towards you and lean in close.
"that's believable."
tsukishima replies in a sarcastic tone, moving closer until your lips touch.
it was light and soft, like a feather brushing your arm, but soon it felt like a fireplace's heat as the desperation for each other seeped into the gentle kiss.
it had only been a week but that seemed like one week too long for the both of you without each other's touch.
the next day you were layered with familiar purple bruises around the upper part of your body. it was a joy tsukishima decided not to cover your jaw or areas on your neck that were visible.
after all, he was quite generous with them yesterday.
still, your body ached from the fast and needy pace your boyfriend had marked you in—that same boyfriend who was currently eyeing you down.
"what?" you ask in suspicion.
"maybe we should have heated arguments more often if i get to do this to you."
"kei!"

Of dinosaurs and non dinosaurs
ミ✫A Tsukishima x sad reader✫彡
Tsukishima notices everything. From the way you didn’t speak at all when he picked you up from your house so you two could walk together, to the way you haven’t said a word all day at school. He doesn’t know what’s wrong, but he knows something has happened between now and last night after he dropped you off at home.
He knows your home life isn’t the best, and that sometimes you just get moody, but this feels different. He doesn’t want to worry, he trusts that if something was really wrong you’d come to him, but it’s now lunch time and you haven’t made any move to come to him, instead you lay your head down atop your desk, not even bothering to get out a lunch.
This worries Kei. You’ve never missed a lunch with him, a tradition that started before you two started dating. Even on sick days you’d video call just to “have a lunch date (with third wheel tadashi)” . He knows that no matter how terribly you feel right now, you’ll regret missing lunch. Both for the senamintal and the fact that you haven’t eaten.
“Here” he says, throwing a packaged muffin on your desk, as he pulls up a chair in front of you. It’s your favorite. He specifically buys them just to give them to you, and he’s hoping that one of your favorite snacks will help to cheer you up. “I’m-“you’ve got to eat” he says, interrupting you and peeling your hands away from your face. Now you can see him, even if you don’t want him to see you.
You're okay. There’s nothing really wrong, you just woke up this way. You want to talk to Kei, to fill his world with laughter and be the y/n he fell in love with, but you just can’t bring yourself to. Not today, not right now.
Pulling your, Keis, hoodie over yourself you burrow into it, making sure the hood covers your face. Hoodies are safe, hoodies that smell like tsukki are safer. In a hoodie no one can see you if you cry, in a hoodie you can pretend that your enjoying the muffin you once loved that for some reason taste’s bland today. The muffin like the day, like your emotions, is dull.
“Y/n” Tsukishima says, “you’ve been acting weird all day… is something wrong?”. There’s the million dollar question. Is something wrong? If so, what? Isn’t the problem just what’s going on in your head? If so, how can you just explain that to him? “It’s nothing Kei” you say dismissively. You just want to eat your lunch without thinking, wishing you could just turn your brain off.
You can feel his eyes on you, it’s obvious he doesn’t believe that there’s nothing wrong, but he doesn’t press it anymore. He’s smart. Smart enough to know that you wouldn’t want to get into anything in a crowded room in fear of a potential breakdown, smart enough to know that if you feel too much your subject to just leave the room and not come back, he wants to help you, not scare you off. The next words that come out of his mouth shocks you.
“Did you know that pterodactyls are not dinosaurs? They’re close in families and stuff but pterodactyls are just flying reptiles.” He recites. This is the kind of thing you need right now, dumb dinosaur facts , or well non dinosaur facts, from your reptile loving boyfriend. “Did you know that dinosaurs had really big fleas? The fleas of then being almost ten times bigger than current ones.”
This one brings a laugh and smile out of you. The thought of giant fleas attacking a town Godzilla style finally brings light to your dull day. The sound of your laugh makes Tsukishima crack his own smile, happy that he finally gets to hear the angelic sound of your voice and your blinding smile. He loves you and he’d do anything to see you keep smiling like that, even tell you every possible reptile fact he’s got stored up.
“Did you know that reptiles don’t have external ear openings?” He questions. “Hmm that must make it hard to get ear piercings” you say, “no swag for turtles” you frown. “I think turtles are pretty cool, maybe not swag but cool. I’d be down for owning one” Tsukishima responds. “I guess we can get a turtle one day in the future, though I’d get to name it” you smile.
Your future with Tsukishima, like the day as of now, looks bright. Your mental health hasn’t just completely fixed, but as of right now the voices are quieted. You feel better even if it’s just for the end of lunch. Class is doomed to start again in five minutes but for now you have Tsukishima who’d do almost anything to make you smile, fun reptile facts, and a future with a turtle. Maybe things just aren’t that bad, maybe you’ll be able to be happy.
A/n I wrote this while sitting in bed sad lol:/ idk what’s wrong and I kinda wanted to put that into something without getting deeply into what I’m feeling, I’m not good at expressing myself anyways lol, so I did this! I love learning fun facts or hearing lame jokes when I’m sad they always work to cheer me up! I wish tsukki were real :) also I hope you enjoyed! Comment and reblogs are welcomed and appreciated <3

Tumblr media
Iwaizumi
“Make sure you don’t miss that spike! Y/N-chan’s watching~~” Oikawa teased as Iwaizumi looked over to you almost missing his spike making the third years laugh
“YOU ALMOST MISSED!” Makki teasingly yelled from across the court
“Aww, Iwa-chan I didn’t know you wanted to impress Y/N-chan that badly!” Oikawa laughed loudly but soon stopped once a very angry Iwaizumi glaring at him
“I swear I’ll fucking kill you if you do that again” Iwaizumi threatened making the setter gulp
“Luckily Iwaizumi won’t do that in front of Y/N” Kindaichi whispered to the other lower years
“Alright Let’s all take a water break!” Matsun yelled holding a bunch of water bottles
The whole team expected you to greet them with your usual lunches that you’d prepare for all of them. But instead, they were greeted with a very bummed-looking Y/N watching their phone.
“Looks like they didn’t see what happened earlier, lucky you” Makki teased as Iwaizumi looked at him with annoyance
“Yahoo Y/N-chan! I hope you have your lunches you pack they’re delicious!” Oikawa exclaimed happily getting zero response from you
“They look really distracted  with their phone” Yahaba pointed out as he drank from his water bottle
“Hello? Earth to Y/N!” Oikawa yelled waving a hand in front of your face
“Huh? Oh are you all done?” you asked as everyone gave you weird looks
“We’re having a water break” Matsun said sitting down
“Yeah and where are those lunches you usually pack” Oikawa asked as you looked through your bag
“Here they are” you spoke sadly as you gave Oikawa your packed lunch making everyone concerned
“Thanks! I was starving!” Oikawa said in relief as Iwaizumi smacked the back of his head
“Nevermind that,  is something wrong?” Iwaizumi asked sitting next to you
“Yeah where's that happy-go-lucky Y/N we all love” Makki said as he wrapped his arms around your shoulders
“Sorry, It’s just I’ve got a family gathering in a few days” you folded your arms laying your head on them
“That doesn’t sound that bad” Watari said confused
“No no you don’t get it” you sighed “Every year we have a big family gathering and I always get asked if I have a boyfriend/girlfriend or whatever” you continued
“Well, do you?” Oikawa asked curiously as he ate
“No, and that's the problem” you sigh in frustration “If I show up there without one they’re gonna hook me up with some egotistical dunce face and if that doesn’t work out they’ll send another one” you scowled
“Yeesh sounds stupid” Matsun patted your back
“Yeah all because ‘I’m currently the only person in the family without a partner and they don’t want me to die like an old maid’” you mocked sarcastically
“Well, why don’t you hire a s/o? Can’t you rent a s/o here?” Oikawa suggested
“That’s too expensive I have nowhere near enough to rent one” you sighed
“Why don’t you follow Oikawa’s idea and get a fake one?” Makki
“Yeah! Someone handsome and irresistible like me!” Oikawa smirked making everyone groan
“No they already know that I’d never date anyone like you” you chuckled at Oikawa’s pouty face
“Yeah you both wouldn’t be able to keep that up, he can’t even keep a real one” Makki mocked making the setter even poutier causing you all to laugh more
“Fine, what kinda boyfriend would convince them” Oikawa irritatedly asked
“Well definitely not someone as goofy as Makki” you thought out loud
"I’ll take that as a compliment" Makki smiled
“I guess someone responsible, kind, and not a flirt?” You suggested as Oikawa grinned smugly
“Oh, I think I have the perfect guy!” Oikawa smirked victoriously
“Huh who?” You asked befuddled
“He’s sitting right beside you” Oikawa said mischievously as you looked at Iwaizumi
“Oh yeah! Hajime fits their view of a perfect s/o” you smiled as Iwaizumi began to blush
“Yeah plus you’re both pretty close, it shouldn’t be that hard” Matsun gave a suggestive look to the blushing ace
“I-I mean I don’t really mind if you really want… or need one” Iwaizumi said nervously hiding his face
“Yeah! We’re close buddies which will make it so much easier and less awkward!” You jumped in joy
“Oh but we gotta make it convincing! Tomorrow let’s go out and do whatever the heck couples do!” You suggested
“And we can help with that” Makki interjected as Oikawa and Matsun nodded
“Alright, I’ll see you later then!” You happily ran out of the gym
“I’LL FUCKING KILL YOU THREE” Iwaizumi yelled furiously as the lower years hold him down
“Before you try to kill us at least you’ve basically got to experience what’s like to be with Y/N” Oikawa defended making Iwaizumi scoff
“I know you did that on purpose” Iwaizumi said angrily
“Like our flat captain said at least you’re gonna go on a date with Y/N” Makki reaffirmed “And with the ideas I have in mind they’ll be head over heels for you” Makki smiled mischievously
After school Makki and Oikawa told you their ridiculous ideas which you mostly ignored. Thankfully the days before the party was the weekends so you both had enough time to make your fake relationship as real as possible. You both decided that the park and the mall would be the best places for fake dates.
“Did you listen to anything they said yesterday?” you asked looking at Iwaizumi
“No, all their ideas were stupid” Iwaizumi scoffed making you chuckle
“Well some of them were good, but after a while, it got stupider and stupider” you said while you both walked to the park
“What do you wanna do first?” He asked
“Well I was thinking we could have like a picnic here for lunch, then do whatever they suggested in the mall” you explained as he nodded
“Well we could start with taking pictures over there” Iwaizumi pointed to the cherry blossom tree which had leaves falling out
“Yeah! That’s a great idea!” You said excitedly as you ran towards the tree
Iwaizumi took pictures of you playing around with the petals that fell off the tree. He had to admit seeing you act like a child looked pretty cute.
“Hajime! You need to be in the pictures too y'know!” You called out as he walked towards you
“Right I forgot sorry” he chuckled “I couldn’t help it though, you looked like a child playing with the petals” he said making you blush
“I guess cherry blossoms make me feel like a child again” you both laughed
You then took a picture of you both laughing in the pile of petals you were both in
“This is the perfect place for the picnic!” You said as you grabbed the picnic mat from your bag
“You seem pretty excited about all of this despite being all fake” Iwaizumi chuckled as he set the food on the mat
“It’s cuz I like hanging out with you” You smiled brightly as Iwaizumi blushed “I don’t spend as much time with you as I do with the others” you grab the sandwiches you made giving him one
“Yeah… I guess we don’t” he smiled quietly as he ate his sandwich
He hated to admit it but Oikawa and Makki were right. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to indulge the experience of dating you even if it is fake. His thoughts were interrupted as he saw you staring at him.
“Is there something on my face” he spoke as you blinked
“Yeah you’ve this on top of your head” you giggled as you take the flower of his head
“Why don’t you keep it” he suggested taking the flower from your hand as you tilt your head in confusion “You can keep it right up here” he placed the flower in your hair on top of your ear making you blush
“Oh! Like a memory to this day!” You smiled as he nodded
After your little picnic, you both went to the closest mall to do the other things they suggested and later have dinner. But first, you needed to do a little shopping.
“Y/N aren’t we supposed to take pictures to make this thing look real? Why are we shopping?” Iwaizumi gave a half confused half annoyed look
“We need matching outfits for the party! Or wait maybe opposite outfits- outfits! We need outfits for the party!” You explain as you look through the clothing store as he sighed
“I’m guessing this is a formal party?” Iwaizumi said as you threw more possible outfit choices on the cart
“Kinda? It’s always semi-casual and semi-formal but we still need something presentable!” you exclaimed as you put more possible outfits on the cart
“Before we go and look for more why don’t we try some on” Iwaizumi suggested as he emphasized the full cart
You both tried the countless outfits you chose. You have now just realized how many clothes you put in the cart. Luckily you and Iwaizumi could easily sort them since most of them were either too formal or too casual.
“It looks like you mindlessly threw a bunch of clothes in the cart” Iwaizumi said as he looked through the pile of clothes
“Sorry” you smiled nervously “This is the only time we have a gathering so it’s kinda important for my family” you explained as you look through more of the clothes
“You miss them too, right?” Iwaizumi asked as you nod
“Yeah of course! But that’s only after the millions of awkward questions they give me” you sighed
“I see…” Iwaizumi spoke softly
“I FOUND THE PERFECT ONE” you said holding the two pairs of clothes as Iwaizumi sighed in relief
After trying it out you both decided it was definitely the perfect outfit to wear at the gathering. You took the opportunity to take a picture of Iwaizumi carrying the bag since you thought it was very gentleman-like. After eating dinner you both decided to go home.
“Thanks for today Hajime” you smiled as you both walked  “I’m glad we got the day to spend more time together ignoring the reason why” you chuckled making Iwaizumi blush
“No problem it was fun” Iwaizumi smiled as you both walk by the ice cream store
“Oh! Can we go get ice cream” you said excitedly as he chuckled at your adorableness
“Sure my treat” Iwaizumi offered as you smile brightly in excitement
Before you enter the store you both see a little boy gazing at the store
“Mommy, can we go get an ice cream?” The little boy pulled his mother’s arm
“Maybe next time” his mother said making the child pout
“You always say that” the boy sniffed sadly making your heartache “I’m sorry we just can’t afford it” his mother explained as she wiped his tears
You see Iwaizumi walk over to the boy
“Hey little guy you really want an ice cream?” he asked to which the boy nodded
“Oh you don’t have to!” the mother looked at Iwaizumi in embarrassment
“It’s fine ma’am I insist” he smiled “Why don’t you go pick one in the store” Iwaizumi opened the door as the boy jumped in excitement yelling “Yay!” as he went in
“I can’t choose” the boy said as he went up to you “Excuse me miss can you help me?” the boy asked
“Sure! But there’s a lot of cool ones so even for me it's hard to choose” you put your hand on your chin “you could go with this one! Oh but this one’s also good” Iwaizumi chuckled at your indecisiveness
After helping the boy choose you walked out of the store to say goodbye
“What do you say to the kind man and his girlfriend/boyfriend?” The boy's mother asked making you both blush profusely
“Thank you!” The boy gave a toothy smile as you both smiled back
“No problem” Iwaizumi motioned a high-five to the boy as he excitedly did
“Goodbye!” The boy said as they both left
“You know that kid reminds me of you when we were in middle school” Iwaizumi smiled softly
“Is that why you decided to give him a free ice cream” you teased making him blush
“N-no you used to whine all the time when you didn’t have the money to buy an ice cream until I gave you mine” Iwaizumi looked away in annoyance as you giggled
“I know, thank you for all your ice creams” you smiled
The next day you reviewed the possible questions your family might ask Iwaizumi. After a few more fake dates it was time for the gathering. You both wore the outfits you chose and hopped in an Uber to the family gathering. As you arrived a wave of nervousness hit you.
“Nervous?” Iwaizumi looked over to you as you nod making him chuckle “It’s okay I’m always here” he held your hand making you blush
“I’m ready” you took a breath as Iwaizumi opens the door for you revealing  that you both were the last ones to arrive
CRAP! WE’RE LATE you nervously panic seeing everyone looking at the two of you but you begin to calm down once you feel him firmly holding your hand. You see your mom waving for your corresponding seats so you both walk over to the table.
“Y/N we were so worried you wouldn’t come” your mother said as she patted down to the two empty seats
“Oh, are we late?” You asked nervously
“No no, everyone just got here early, surprisingly” she said “You’re both right on time, take a seat!” Your mom pats the empty seat again
“Oh right sorry!” Iwaizumi moves the chair for you as you mouth a thank you to which he smiled in response
“What a gentleman” your brother teased sarcastically which you respond with a glare
“Haven’t I seen you before?” Your mother asked
“I’m part of the volleyball team in the school Y/N goes to and we’ve been on local TV a few times” Iwaizumi explained
“A gentleman and he’s sporty! Didn’t think Y/N was capable of catching such a fish!”  your brother snickered as you roll your eyes
“Where’s dad?” you looked around
“He’s talking to some of our uncles over there” your sister pointed at the wine section
“Right, dad hasn’t even met your boyfriend he’s definitely gonna ask millions of questions” your brother mischievously smiled making Iwaizumi nervous “So while he’s gone why don’t we ask some first” your brother sneered as he put his hands on his chin
“If you don’t mind I’d love to see some pictures of you both together” your mother requested as you gave your phone
That’s why they wanted to do all those fake dates Iwaizumi thought as your mother looks through your phone
“Oh Y/N is this your boyfriend?” Your aunt said excitedly as she walked over to your mom looking through your camera roll
“You finally got a boyfriend? Looks like we were all wrong about you growing into an old maid” your cousin teased making your brother laugh
“Awww you both look so cute!” your aunt squealed making you both blush profusely
After you and Iwaizumi answered the millions of questions from everyone you saw your dad walk over to the table making you extremely nervous. As he sat down he looked over to you and your “boyfriend.” The awkwardness made your brother silently chuckle as you sent a harsh glare to him.
“We should go now” your aunt and cousins zoomed away
“Is this the guy you were talking about when you asked to prepare at your boyfriend’s house?” Your father asked sternly
“Y-Yeah” you replied nervously
“You’re the same age as Y/N? Same school as Y/N? Excellent grades? No school violations?” Your father berated Iwaizumi with questions
“F/N you’re scaring them” your mother lightly scolded
“You were the one who wanted them to get a s/o which I didn’t agree with” your father reminded as your mother sighed
“Correction everyone but you wanted Y/N to get a s/o” your brother interjected
“And? I won’t let them end up like you with your… flings” your father scowled in disgust as your brother rolled his eyes
“F/N he’s a genuinely great kid, honest, polite, kind, responsible, and all of that!” Your mother defended “As long as you put your faith in them our child is in good hands” your mother smiled to both of you which eased your nerves
“Alright…” your father huffed “I’ll trust the both of you” your father sighed as he ate making you sigh quietly in relief
After the party was over you were relieved from all that stress. It wasn’t so bad after your mom defended you but you won’t admit you were famished. You decided to personally thank your mom before you left
“Thanks, Mom” you smiled pulling her for a tight hug
“No need to thank me” your mom smiled back and gave Iwaizumi a nod of approval
“Where’s my hug and thanks? I defended you too y’know” your brother crossed your arms
“Thanks too I guess” you hugged him
“But we should get going, bye!” You waved as they did the same
“For a fake relationship your father sure made it feel like a real one” Iwaizumi chuckled as you both walk outside
Right, it’s all fake you thought to yourself making your heartache
“Sorry to make you go through all that you really didn’t have to” you spoke quietly
“Y/N you don’t need to worry I’d never hesitate in doing this again” Iwaizumi smiled weakly as your heart skipped a beat
“Why?” you asked frowning at the thought that he’d do anything for you even if it ended him in getting into conflict
“Because…” he stopped
“Because what?” You asked looking to him
“We’re friends” he smiled as you felt an intense wave of sorrow and hurt though you managed to smile back weakly
You turned around to walk away but you soon stopped at the sound of Iwaizumi’s voice
“I don’t want us to just be that” he continued making your eyes widen as your heart starts beating fast
“I did all this because I care about you a lot… more than a friend even” you turned around to see Iwaizumi starting to tear up
“I know it was all fake but I enjoyed every second… It may be selfish of me but… I don’t want it to end” Iwaizumi spoke his voice was shaky as he tried to hold his tears back
“I love you Y/N… I don’t want to let you go” tears poured from Iwaizumi’s cheeks as you embraced him tightly shocking him
“Don’t worry” you spoke softly “I don’t wanna let go either” he looked at you with shock as you gave him a sweet smile
“Can we continue it for real this time?” You asked as he placed a kiss on your forehead
“I’d love to” he smiled
Tumblr media
Tsukishima
You've always been surrounded by your fans everywhere you went. School was no exception. During break, every student would try to sit with you and if there were partnerships or group projects you'd always be the first to be asked. You really didn't mind as you appreciated all the support and this was the price to pay when you made the biggest hits in Japan. The only thing you particularly minded was when you have over-the-top obsessed fans or stalkers. Luckily in public, you could easily avoid them however this one obsessed fan was unfortunately in your school. Still, it wouldn't be that hard with the mass amount of students at the school but unfortunately, you shared one class with this “fan”.
“Good morning class. Just like last semester I'm going to change your seating arrangement again” your teacher said as you start to worry
She then guides your classmates one by one to their seats as you were left last
“And Y/N over there” she pointed to the empty chair next to Yuta making you pale as white
“You've got to be kidding me” you panicked internally as you went to your seat and sat down
“Hey Y/N” he smiled innocently
“Hey…” you awkwardly smile back
“Looks like we'll be seat buddies” you swore you can hear the sly smile from his voice
“Yeah cool!” you smiled hoping he would drop the conversation
“Yeah! Especially since math isn't your strongest subject right?” He continued
“I can manage” you said with slight coldness in your voice
“Well if you need help I'm right next to you” he smiled finally ending the conversation between the both of you
You felt the life draining out of you during that class. Yuta kept trying to make conversation with you. You were sure he could take the hint and was just talking to you because he could. Luckily during break, you could easily get away from him.
“Hey Y/N over here!” Hinata waved excitedly as you went over to him
“Hey guys” you waved as you sat down
“Is something wrong you looked bummed out” Suga asked with concern
“Well y'know that fan in our school that constantly stalks me” you sighed playing with your food
“You mean your whole fan club” Tsuki rolled his eyes
“No not that one you glared the one that's like a whole different level of creepiness” you explained
“WHAT! THAT CREEP?!” Noya gasped in disgust
“Yeah, we're seatmates now woohoo!” You said sarcastically
“Can't you ask your teacher to switch?” Asahi asked
“Unfortunately no he's very reputable in the school they're not gonna believe me” you laid your face on the table
“It's okay Y/N you can get through this!” Hinata encouraged
“Thank you” you hugged him as he returns the hug
“It's a shame math is the only subject none of us share with you” Yamaguchi said sadly
“And it's the only subject they share with him” Kageyama lightly scoffed making you even more bummed out
“I'll get through this!” You tried encouraging yourself
“Stop lying to yourself it makes you more pathetic than you already are” Tsukishima rolled his eyes as you sent a glare
“Looks like it’s gonna be another glare war” Asahi chuckled
“This is gonna be a long day” Daichi sighed in annoyance
After a few more peaceful classes it was time to go home. You thought you would have a peaceful walk home but you were very wrong. As you went to the gate you saw a putrid familiar face waiting for you by the gate.
“Hey Y/N!” Yuta waved as you tried walking past him only for him to walk right next to you
“Hey… Do you need something?” You asked quickly getting annoyed
“I was thinking why don’t we walk home together” he suggested slyly smiling
“It’s okay I’m comfortable going myself” you smiled fakely wanting to punch the grin on his face
“Are you sure? You’re pretty big around here and you won’t be safe getting chased by a mob of fans” he asked with concern as he walked in front of you
Do I even have a choice at this point you thought
“It’s really okay I-” you tried explaining getting quickly interrupted by a hand on your shoulder
“If you’re so concerned about her wellbeing I’ll go with her” Tsukishima nonchalantly said
“Oh! Tsukishima!” You gasped in surprise
“I don’t know, I've only seen you two fighting all the time… Are you sure you aren’t just gonna laugh while they get chased” Yuta narrowed his eyes
“You flatter me” Tsukishima faked a chuckle “Are you giving them a choice to walk with you or are you forcing them to go with you” Tsukishima glared intensely
“No no, it’s not like that! It’s Y/N’s choice after all” Yuta smiled looking at you as you felt his aura of anger seeth around him
“Thank you for the offer but… We have stuff to do” Yuta gives you a look of confusion as you look at Tsukishima for an excuse as he rolled his eyes
“You’ve already forgotten our homework? Typical Y/N” Tsukishima scoffed in annoyance as you try to hide the urge to smack him
“Yeah! And we're doing it at his house” you smiled innocently
“Alright then stay safe…” Yuta walked away as you sigh in relief
“Jeez, can't you take care of anything yourself? Just say no” Tsukishima crossed his arms
“You said it yourself earlier he wasn’t giving me a choice” you glared harshly as he rolled his eyes
“Whatever” he scoffed “Let’s go before that idiot comes back” he said walking ahead
“Huh? You’re walking me home” you look at him with a very confused face
“Yeah you dumbass we actually have homework” he face palmed as you scoff
“Would it kill you to be nicer” you crossed your arms as you walked
“I’m sorry did I hurt the princess’ feelings?” Tsukishima smiled sarcastically as you glared
“Maybe walking with him would be much better than you” you quietly said
“Huh? Did the pipsqueak say something?” He teased
“I said nothing!” You scowled grumpily
“That’s what I thought” Tsukishima smugly smiled as you both walk outside the school gates
“Thanks again, I mean it” you smiled softly which made Tsukishima blush slightly
“Yeah whatever” he shrugs off as you both walk home
The next day as you arrive at school you are greeted with a tight hug by Hinata while Kageyama chases after him.
“Hi Y/N!” Hinata looked up to you excitedly
“You seem pretty excited” you smiled back
“I’m always excited for volleyball!” Hinata jumped in joy
“HEY! DON’T RUN OFF LIKE THAT!” Kageyama said breathlessly
“I heard from Yamaguchi that you walked home with Tsukishima! What’s up with that?” Hinata asked you curiously ignoring the other fellow
“Oh it’s because Yuta was offering to walk home with me… Actually forcing me is a better term” you sighed
“That guy never knows when to quit!” Hinata pouted making you aww at his adorableness
“At Least Tsukishima was there” Hinata sighed in annoyance
“Yeah… he was good company” you smiled
“You should file a restraining order on that guy” Kageyama suggested
“I think that’s a bit too much” you chuckled awkwardly
“What are you gonna do about him he doesn’t sound like he’s gonna stop” Kageyama crossed his arms worriedly
“I’ll go after him and beat him up!” Hinata exclaimed getting into a fighting position making you smile
“Thank you Hinata but I’m sure there’s another way to resolve this without any violence or getting the authorities involved” you ruffled his hair as Hinata put his hand on his chin
“I guess you’re gonna have to deal with that until you figure out a solution” Kageyama sighed
“I’VE GOT AN IDEA!” Hinata thought out loud
“No” Tsukishima stated coldly
“Come on! It’s the only solution!” Hinata pouted angrily
“Out of everyone you think of, you pick me? Even the thought of pretending to be with her repulses me” Tsukishima scoffed
“You sure picked a nasty one” you rolled your eyes
“Exactly! He’s grumpy, nasty, and intimidating! It will definitely scare off all the creeps!” Hinata triumphantly said hoping you’d both be convinced
“I mean if it will keep him away…” you looked at Tsukishima
“The final answer is no. If you excuse me I have to get to class” Tsukishima walked away annoyed as you sighed
“Wait! We share a class!” Hinata ran as he caught up with Tsukishima
“Don’t think I know what you’re doing” Tsukishima glared at the shorter fellow
“Doing what?” Hinata asked innocently
“I don’t like her end of story” Tsukishima scowled as he walked faster
“You sure do care too much even if you say you don’t” Hinata murmured as Tsukishima glared
“This conversation is done” Tsukishima seethed coldly
“I’m just saying who knows maybe if you both pretend to be together, maybe they’ll end up liking you back” Hinata suggested making a small smug grin as Tsukishima stops
You’ve finally reached the class you’ve been dreading to go to. As soon as you go in lo and behold he’s already there waiting, even patting the seat right next to him as if he saved it just for you. You took a deep breath before heading to your seat.
“You look troubled, something on your mind?” He asked
You wish he would just stop being so hyper-friendly with you and shut up
“Nothing’s wrong, I’m just tired” you faked a yawn
“Oh right! You must be exhausted from touring!” He chuckled at his idiocy making you sour
You, fortunately, got through the period and survived all his countless stupid questions. You rush quickly to get out but as you leave the door you get pulled by a familiar glasses wearer.
“Hey! Ever heard of a greeting!” You yell in annoyance as he continued to grab your hand ignoring whatever you said
“You’ll thank me later songbird” you frown at the nickname as Tsukishima drags you to a more secluded area
“What in the world do you want this time?” you asked in irritation as he lets go of your hand
“Is that guy still bothering you?” He asked ignoring your question
“Yuta? Yeah, wouldn’t stop berating me with questions” you rolled your eyes remembering the thought
“I’ll agree to that idiot’s plan” Tsukishima  crossed his arms coldly
“Huh, which plan?” You questioned innocently
“For someone who has high grades you sure are stupid and forgetful” he smirked sarcastically as you glare  “The fake dating thing idiot” He scoffed
“Really? Thank you!” You hug him tightly as he blushes madly “I don't think I could take his stalking anymore!” You tightened your hug even more as he tried pushing you away
“Maybe ask before you hug me?” Tsukishima grimaced as you let go
“Oh sorry!” You scratched the back of your neck blushing
Later that day others offered to help you make the plan as real as possible. A lot of arguing mostly between you and Tsukishima refusing to do “things that normal couples do”.
“Please complimenting her every minute is the last thing I’d do” Tsukishima scoffed
“Yeah that’s really cheesy” you rolled your eyes
“You guys said you wanted to trick him! You're gonna have to make cheesy sacrifices” Tanaka crossed his arms as the two of you sigh in annoyance
“The final step is kissing!” Hinata said excitedly
“NO!” You both yelled in unison
“Awww c’mon! If you both don’t wanna do anything we mention kissing would be more than enough” Hinata soured
“Don’t you think for fake dating that’s a bit too much” you reasoned out
“Y/N’s right kissing is overstepping it” Suga agreed as Hinata pouted and crossed his arms
“Then you’re gonna have to do everything else we’ve mentioned!” Noya smiled as you both sighed
The very next day you decided to take your plan into action
“When you both walk into school, hold hands!” Noya instructed as you sulk
“GO! GO! GO!” Noya shouted pushing the both of you into the school gates
Tsukishima nervously puts his hand on yours. His face goes beet red from getting to hold your hand.
“Your hand feels nice…” you smiled sweetly as his blush grows
“W-what the hell do you mean by that?” Tsukishima asked nervously
“Oh, I thought it would be salty and sour” you giggled as scoffed “But it’s soft… I like it” you smiled softly
“Your hand feels nice too… I guess” Tsukishima complimented
“Looks like we got the hand holding and complimenting down” you punch a fist in the air and smile, an action that Tsukishima couldn’t help but find cute
Your excitement comes to a close as you realize everyone in the hallway was watching you surprised at the both of you holding hands and having a normal conversation instead of arguing every five minutes
“Right! I forgot everyone in school’s gonna talk about this” you gulp in nervousness
“Not just the school, the whole of Japan” Tsukishima stated nonchalantly making you more nervous
“I’m sorry you're probably gonna get dragged around by the media after this” you said quietly playing with your hands
“Don’t worry it’ll be fine unlike you I can tell them to fuck off” Tsukishima smirked sarcastically as you pout
“That’s because you're a certified jerkwad” you cross your arms
“Well you’re gonna have to deal with it pipsqueak” he said as the smugness in his tone increasing
“Let’s just get to our first class!” You scowled as you both walk into your first class
You did everything the others instructed you to. You were sure Yuta saw what you both did since he never leaves you alone at school. The gossip between you two was the only thing the school would talk about. Your next class was the dreaded Math class. You were nervous as you didn’t know what to expect when you sat next to Yuta. Taking a deep breath you went in and sat next to him.
As expected he didn't talk to you for most of the period which made you worry. Usually, he’d annoy you to death berating you with questions, trying to get on your good side in hopes of having a chance with you. Your thoughts were interrupted when your classmate behind you asked a question
“Heya Y/N! Got a question” the girl asked as you turned around
Sure ask away you responded
“Is it true you’re dating Tsukishima? I was so sure you hated him” she chuckled as you felt the anger seething out of Yuta
“Yeah doesn’t he treat you like garbage?” Yuta interjected coldly
“Well he may be an annoying asshole but I kinda like that about him” you explain as the tint on your cheeks grows red “I guess he’s not good with showing how he really feels but… I know for sure he cares” you continue “Ohhh! I get it! You’re that kinda gal!” she lightly punched your arm as you giggled
“Yeah I guess so…” you murmured as you felt Yuta’s boiling anger but you chose to ignore it
The whole Math class felt like a breath of fresh air. You didn’t care if you just felt anger from your seatmate. You were finally free now from his stupid questions. After your class finishes you happily walked to lunch and sat next to your usual lunch buddies
“Someone’s in a really good mood” Yamaguchi smiled
“Yuta left me alone the whole class!” You exclaimed in triumph as everyone sighs in relief
“See! Our plan was foolproof!” Tanaka and Noya said proudly in unison
“Yeah, if it hadn't I would’ve beaten you both to a pulp” Tsukishima scowled
“Alright Mr. Salty Pants you need to calm down” you patted his shoulder as he rolled his eyes
“Don’t call me that pipsqueak” Tsukishima brushed your hand off
“Giving each other nicknames? Are you sure you guys are still fake?” Hinata whispered mischievously as you both blush
“I’ll just return to my food” you brushed Hinata off and started eating as Tsukishima quietly did the same
“At least they aren’t arguing anymore” Daichi sighed in relief
As soon as school finishes you wait at the gate for Tsukishima to be done practicing. You take a long sigh of relief. Besides dealing with the media and school your “stalker” would finally leave you alone. Or so you thought.
"Y/N!" you hear a voice call out as you turned to face them only to be surprised by an angry Yuta walking towards you
"Yuta? I thought you’d be home" by now you spoke innocently as his anger grows
"Cut the innocent bullshit! I know you both aren’t a thing" Yuta yelled coldly as he grabbed you
"Huh? What’re you talking about?" you chuckled nervously trying to push him away
"It was all to make me leave you alone right? C’mon, you really think I was that stupid?" He snickered loudly as you begin to tear up in fear
“Aww don’t cry you’ve got your “boyfriend” to save you- Oh wait he’s not really your boyfriend” he continued to laugh though he soon stopped as you heard the sound of a blow to his face
“Don’t touch someone who’s off limits” Tsukishima scowled angrily as you rushed to hug him tightly
“Don’t make me laugh I know it isn’t real” Yuta said as he got up
“You’re just whiny because unlike you I got their attention” Tsukishima smirked smugly as he received a blow from Yuta
“Tsuki!” You rushed towards his aid as he brushes you off
“Don’t worry I’ve been wanting to kick his ass for a while” Tsukishima said as he got ready to punch him again
“Stop! You’re only gonna get hurt!” You cried out as Yuta slowly approaches the both of you only for a familiar tangerine to drop kick Yuta onto the ground
“I’ve waited forever to do that!” Hinata smiled victoriously as Yuta gets up and runs away
“YEAH RUN YOU COWARD” Hinata yelled
“Where did you learn to do that?” You asked as he chuckled
“I’ve been practicing with Noya!” Hinata smiled as you ruffle his hair
“You should take Tsukishima to the nursing office. I'll head back and tell the others!” Hinata quickly said as he ran off
“You haven’t finished practice?” you look towards Tsukishima
“Yeah I needed to get something then I found you with him” Tsukishima explained
“Let’s just get you the nurse’s office” you said worriedly as you helped walk him to the nurse’s office
Luckily for the both of you the nurse’s office was empty which saved you both an explanation and or potential punishment. You ushered him to sit down as you grabbed the necessary items to treat his lip.
“I’m sorry” you mumbled quietly as soon as you finished treating his lip
“What for?” Tsukishima asked holding the ice pack on his lip
“For all of this the fake dating and dragging you into this” you look down as the guilt builds up
“You really don’t have to apologize for that after all I agreed to do this” Tsukishima placed his hand on yours to comfort you
“But you ended up getting hurt because of me” you began to tear up
“It doesn’t matter if I get hurt” he wiped the tears from your cheeks “I would protect you no matter what, whether we're together for real or fake because… I care about you…” he confided pulling you into a tight embrace
“Thank you” hugged him back tightly “y'know… we don't have to keep calling it fake” you smiled
“What do you-” he gave you a puzzled look as you interrupted hin
“We could do it for real if you want” you blushed shyly
“Yeah… I wouldn't mind that” he smiled

Kuroo
You were in the middle of doing your homework when Bokuto dragged you to come with him to his li’l hangout session in the park with Kuroo.
“Why did I have to come again?” you asked slightly annoyed
“Because Akaashi didn’t want to come” Bokuto frowned, “He said he was busy or something” Bokuto childishly crossed his arms
“Well couldn’t you go there alone? I was in the middle of doing my homework” you pouted
“C’mon! Don’t you wanna spend time with your favorite big brother and his friend!” He tried convincing you with his sad frown
“You’re my only big brother” you narrowed your eyes as his face brightens up
“So you agree?” he smiled triumphantly as you sighed in amusement. You did need a little break anyways
“Well then you’re gonna have to convince Akaashi to help me with my homework as a thank you” you tried to compromise as he nodded his head excitedly
“YEAH! WE GET TO HANG OUT AGAIN!” Bokuto hugged you tightly making you smile at his adorableness
“Alright you goof we don’t wanna keep Kuroo waiting” you patted his back making him release the hug as you both turned to leave
“THERE’S AN ICE CREAM TRUCK OVER THERE!” Bokuto yelled excitedly pointing at the ice cream truck at the front of the park
“LET’S GO!” He dragged you with him running a thousand miles per hour
You both ran to the ice cream shop, terrifying the people on the way and the worker from how fast Bokuto ran. You both bought ice cream for yourselves and Kuroo (which you paid for).
“You owe me two favors now” you warned as Bokuto continued eating his ice cream
“Thank you!” He smiled adorably making you sigh
“Don’t think your adorableness is getting you out of what you owe me” you glared
“Where’s Kuroobro” Bokuto looked around for his black-haired friend but to no avail
“Did he say he was already here?” you asked as Bokuto nodded
“If he doesn’t show up do I owe you an extra favor” Bokuto spoke timidly as you nodded making him gulp
Ironically right after he said that Kuroo appeared out of nowhere looking like he just killed someone
“KUROOBRO!” Bokuto yelled putting his hands on the air in excitement as Kuroo shushes him
“Not the time right now!” Kuroo whispered loudly as you and Bokuto look at each other tilt your head in confusion
“What’s wrong?” Bokuto whispered quietly as Kuroo dragged you both somewhere private near the tree area
“Will you just tell us what’s happening you whispered angrily” as he sighed
“While I was walking around waiting for you guys I met my ex near a bench” Kuroo explained
“Yeah and?” Bokuto asked naively as you elbowed his arm making him mutter an “ow!”
“Don’t you remember what happened Bo? You were the one who told me all this” you narrowed one eye as he looked at you dazed
“I kinda forgot about her” Bokuto shrugged as you and Kuroo both sigh
“Well my forgetful owl friend she’s still not over me and thinks we still have a chance even if i clearly showed that there is no chance whatsoever” Kuroo frowned
“Has she been following you since?” You asked as he nodded frustratedly sighing in the process “Yeesh” you patted his back
“Well if you don’t wanna see her we can just stay here I mean we’re all here anyways Bokuto sat down in the grass Ice cream?” Bokuto offered the ice cream you bought for Kuroo as he sat down “Let’s figure something out tomorrow” you offered as he smiled “You both owe me one afterall” you smirked eating your ice cream as Kuroo looks at you with confusion
“What?” Kuroo looked at Bokuto as he gave him an awkward smile
The next day Kuroo couldn’t practice properly thinking about what happened yesterday. It wasn’t long till his team noticed his change in behavior.
“Hey Kuroo, is there something wrong you're acting very off today” Inuoka asked
“Huh? Nothing’s wrong” Kuroo brushed off as he went to grab the ball
“Something is clearly wrong you aren’t playing properly” Yaku reprimanded as Kuroo rolled his eyes
“Nothing to be concerned about! Let’s get going!” Kuroo insisted
“For the last hour you haven’t practiced properly” Yaku glared “So tell us what’s wrong. Now” Yaku crossed his arms as Kuroo sighed deeply in response going over to the benches before he sat down
“When I went outside to hangout with Bokuto and Y/N, I met my ex” Kuroo explained quietly shocking everyone “Long story short, she’s not over me” Kuroo frowned
“Knowing her I wouldn’t be surprised if she enrolled here just to see you” Kenma spoke nonchalantly making Kuroo sweat
“That would be awkward especially if you have to share a class” Yamamoto added as Yaku elbowed him
“Let’s hope either of that doesn’t happen” Yaku sighed
“She’d be near impossible to get away from then” Inuoka said worriedly
“I would die if I saw her attending my games” Kuroo spoke deflated putting his hands on his head
“Let’s try to devise a plan after school we’ll have more time” Yaku suggested as he stood up “For now, you don’t have to force yourself to play in that kind of state” Yaku said empathetically
The whole practice Kuroo was moping around much to the dismay of his teammates. He thought the day wouldn’t get any worse until it was time for him to go home.
“Looks like I got through that pretty fine” Kuroo exclaimed proudly
“If acting mopey the whole practice was fine I don’t even want to know what would happen if you actually meet her” Yaku sighed
“Let’s hope that doesn’t happen” Inuoka said worriedly
“Don’t worry I just have to make it to my house! She’s not gonna appear anytime soon” Kuroo walked towards the gate but was stopped by Kenma pulling him
“Huh? What was that for–” Kuroo gave Kenma a confused look but his face immediately froze when Kenma pointed in front of him
“I think you jinxed yourself” Lev gulped sheepishly
“Did she actually enroll here?” Yamamoto gasped quietly as Kuroo’s ex walks over to them
“CRAP SHE’S COMING” they all panic internally
“Hey…” his ex said meekly making everyone sweat nervously
“What… what are you doing here” Kuroo slightly grimaced
“Oh i just… wanted to see how you were doing” she mumbled smiling awkwardly which slightly angered the team’s captain
“Didn’t I make it clear at the park already” Kuroo slightly snapped though remained composed as everyone looked at him
“Yeah! But…” she gets cut off by Kuroo’s sigh
“It’s over alright? Just leave me alone” Kuroo growing angry he quickly walked out of the gate while everyone followed him
During the walk home it was pure dead silence accompanied by the angry aura that radiated Kuroo. No one dared to ask if he was okay in fear of further pissing off the captain. The next day Kuroo along with Kenma went to the lockers before heading to class.
“Hey Kuroo sorry for not being to help you during that whole ordeal yesterday” Kenma apologized as he opened his locker
“Eh don’t worry about it” Kuroo shook his hand vertically “It’s not your fault she’s can’t take no for an answer” Kuroo sighed in annoyance as he opened his locker
The two boys then saw a letter inside the locker making them both groan
“You thinkin what I’m thinkin?” Kuroo gave a look of irritation getting a nod from Kenma as a response as he opened it
The letter contained a cringeworthy, half-assed apology going on and on and had endless paragraphs that the two boys didn’t even bother to read
“I’m not reading this shit” Kuroo crumpled the paper and threw it at a nearby trash can
“Looks like she really won’t leave you alone” Kenma stated nonchalantly making Kuroo sigh
“Yeah I need to break it to her delusional self fast” Kuroo huffed throwing his hands on his head in frustration
“Yeah you better get on that quickly” Kenma shook Kuroo’s shoulder and pointed into his classroom “Looks like she’s your new classmate” Kuroo’s eyes widened
“ARE YOU KIDDING ME?” Kuroo whined loudly
“Well good luck” Kenma waved goodbye as Kuroo nervously went inside the classroom
During the whole class Kuroo’s ex tried everything to try and talk to him. Even with Kuroo’s clear signs of rejecting her advances she still persisted. The whole ordeal lasted the whole class until he was finally able to get out to which he proceeded to go quickly to the gym.
“GUYS I NEED IDEAS NOW!” Kuroo yelled as he slammed the door open
“Yeah we heard from Kenma that you now share a class with her” Yaku sighed worriedly
“YEAH ON MY FAVORITE CLASS? THE ONLY ONE I’D ATTEND INSTEAD OF PRACTICING!” Kuroo moped and messed his hair in frustration
“Well you’re in luck!” A familiar booming voice was heard outside of the gym
“BOKUTO IS HERE TO SAVE HIS BRO!” Bokuto yelled excitedly as his other team went into the gym
“THANK YOU BRO” Kuroo went to the fellow ace and hugged him as his whole team sighed
“We’ll do that after our practice match” Akaashi reminded slightly deflating the both of them
After the two teams' practice match they decided to devise a plan once they headed to the bench. Kuroo took the time explaining what happened during his class.
“That girl is borderline obsessed with you” you gave a very creeped out face
“I know right! No matter how many times you say no or make it clear to her stupid brain she doesn't get it!” Kuroo's words seethed anger
“You could expel her from the school!” Bokuto suggested proudly
“That'd only solve his problem in school but not everywhere else” Akaashi stated making Bokuto sigh in defeat
“Why don’t you get a s/o? She’ll probably leave you alone if she sees you with someone else” Kenma nonchalantly suggested as he played on his console
“That’s a great idea!” Kuroo smiled victoriously
“You still need to find someone who’s nice enough to help your sorry self” Yaku sassed as Kuroo responded with a harsh glare
“Y/N can do it!” Bokuto pointed as Kuroo blushed
“Huh? Why me?” you made a grossed out face
“Cuz he’s my best friend! And he needs saving!” Bokuto reasoned
“That doesn’t answer my question” you crossed your arms
“Well… you're my sibling and you should help your big brother!” Bokuto responded as you narrowed your eyes
“I don’t think I have the time to have a relationship right now” you said making your brother frown
“It probably doesn’t have to be real” Kai put his hand on his chin “if you just make it believable enough to fool her that could work” your brother nodded to his statement
“Please” he looked at you cutely “Can you did it for your big brother and his helpless best friend” he continued as Kuroo scowled
“I can’t say no to that face” you sigh in defeat as Bokuto jumps up
“Another victory for Bokuto Kotaro!” Bokuto jumped around excitedly
“Y/N would work after all Kuroo does–” Kenma said before his mouth was covered by Kuroo
“Because you're also my friend, yeah!” Kuroo awkwardly smiled as you looked at him weirdly
“Let's start tomorrow then so we can get this done” you spoke to which Kuroo nodded
“Looks like your dream come true with my sibling is coming true” Bokuto whispered teasingly smiling as Kuroo shushed him
The next day after you finished school you headed to Kuroo’s school and waited outside the gate together with your brother.
“Bo you didn't have to come all the way here I can take care of myself” you said while you watched the students pass by
“Yeah but who would third wheel your date” Bokuto smiled mischievously It will make it more authentic he added
“You’re a really great friend to Kuroo” you smile which Bokuto returned with a big toothy one
“Heya guys!” Kuroo yelled from a distance as he ran over to the both of you “Shall we make Operation Get Rid Of My Ex a go?” Kuroo smirked as Bokuto nodded excitedly
‘This is gonna be so chaotic’ you thought
“Let’s go!” Bokuto grabbed all of you and you three were off
You went to a cozy cafe in Tokyo with a few people coming in and out
“Y’know for someone so obsessed with you it’s weird how she isn’t here yet” you spoke as you drank your coffee
“What if she doesn’t come! That would make everything a waste!” Bokuto pouted “Well except the food” he said in annoyance as he ate his croissant
“There’s no way she wouldn't know I was talking about it pretty loudly during lunch” Kuroo explained whilst he ate
“Well she’s here now” you pointed at the open door where Kuroo’s ex sneakily walked in with other customers
“Get into position!” Kuroo whispered as you all did as planned
“Is she watching?” Bokuto nudged Kuroo
“Yeah!” Kuroo replied
You and Kuroo did whatever couples did during dates whilst Bokuto made your stereotypical third wheel make an awkward date. Luckily you were able to play it naturally as you were already pretty close with Kuroo. You couldn’t deny that you found it cute how hard Kuroo was trying. He was very easy going and made sure to ask for your consent before doing something.
“I need to go to the toilet, I’ll be back” you stood up and left leaving the two boys
“I think you’re taking this way too seriously” Kuroo chuckled
“Not as seriously as you seriously enjoying this” Bokuto retorted making Kuroo blushed
“Listen when you decided to set us up you knew what you were doing” Kuroo fought back
“Well yeah! It’s a bros job to get him with the girl of his dreams” Bokuto laughed smugly
“Now you just sound dramatic” Kuroo rolled his eyes
“Maybe but you can’t deny you're enjoying this” Bokuto smirked
“Alright you got me there” Kuroo raised his hands as you came back
“Is the plan working?” you asked quietly
“Judging from how creepily she’s been keeping a close eye on us, yeah!” Kuroo smiled victoriously
“We just gonna continue from here then” you said
Kuroo’s ex followed you all everywhere keeping a close tab on you and Kuroo especially which made you very uncomfortable. The three of you both finished every activity you had planned for the day so you all opted to go home.
“Is she still following us?” Bokuto asked quietly
“Yeah I can feel her eyes on my back” Kuroo replied
“Still? She's so creepy man” Bokuto's face turned to disgust
“I feel bad that you had to go through this for the past few days” you patted Kuroo's back as he sighed
“Yeah it's like I get no privacy anywhere besides my house, everywhere I go she's there too”” Kuroo crossed his arms and pouted “Well I guess it’s more enjoyable cuz your here” Kuroo looked at you and smiled making your heart thump
“T-thanks” you said still dazed from what he said
“Hey! What about me!” Bokuto pouted which Kuroo laughed in response
“Of course you too bro!” Kuroo chuckled turning Bokuto’s frown upside down
“We’ll see tomorrow what she thinks” you said as you all reached Kuroo’s house
“Thanks again today was fun” you smiled making Kuroo slightly blush
“Yeah! My pleasure” Kuroo smiled back
The next day Kuroo went through the whole day without his ex bothering him which made him suspicious. But when he did see her in chemistry class she seemed quiet and was distancing herself from him which Kuroo couldn’t help but feel the intense wave of victory. You saw the joyous captain when he walked to you and Bokuto at the gate.
“Someone looks very happy today” you smiled as Kuroo greeted both of you
“She kept her distance the whole day! I say progress!” Kuroo almost squealed in excitement
“All in a day's work of The Best Ace Bokuto!” Bokuto smiled proudly
“Yeah that’s great!” you flashed a thumbs up
“We just need to seal the deal” Kuroo put his finger on his chin before his face lit up “Prom’s this weekend which I think is the perfect opportunity to do it” Kuroo explained “Can I go too! I wanna eat all the food!” Bokuto jumped in excitement which made you chuckle
“Yeah we can all go!” Kuroo  gave a toothy smile
A few days before prom you were in the mall with Akaashi and Bokuto deciding which of the dresses you should buy
“Should I go for this one or this one?” you said holding two dresses
“We’ve been here for like… HOURS!” Bokuto complained as he fell back on the chair
“And? It’s a formal event that needs the proper attire! I need to look my best!” You defended hearing another complain from Bokuto
“Why do you care so much you didn’t care that much last prom!” Bokuto crossed his arms
“Is it because of Kuroo?” Akaashi asked innocently yet you felt there was more intention in his tone
“W’what? N-no?” You blushed hardly surprised from Akaashi’s question
“Looks like I hit a bullseye” Akaashi nonchalantly said
“You like Kuroo?” Bokuto stood up and looked at you
“No! I don’t! It’s just I wanna look my best to make it look real y'know!” You kept trying to defend yourself though Akaashi could see right through you
“You wanna look your best for Kuroo you mean” Akaashi teased to which you glare
“I never thought you’d like my bro!” Bokuto smiled excitedly
“Well, until now” Akaashi smirked which made you blush even more
“Just pick one I’m done with this conversion!” You pointed daggers at the two boys which made Bokuto snicker
It was the day of the prom and Kuroo was very nervous. Though it was only to get rid of his ex he felt that he’d actually taken you to prom and though he didn’t want to admit it but he really wanted to see what you’d look like in your prom dress.
“You look a little too excited” Yaku teased
“Well yeah! I’m actually going to prom with them!” Kuroo blushed “It still makes me sad though that all this is fake” Kuroo frowned his face darkened
“Well I guess you have to make the most of it right?” Kenma interjected hoping to cheer his best friend up
“You’re right” Kuroo smiled
“She’s here now!” Lev exclaimed making Kuroo shift back to nervousness
The door opened with Bokuto in a neat tux with a surprisingly formal hairstyle different from his spiked up hair but beside him was you in an elegant outfit also with a formal hairstyle
“Amazed? You should be! I picked it for them just for my best bro!” Bokuto bragged proudly
“You only picked it so we’d get out of the store” you chuckled as Bokuto shot a quick shush
“That doesn’t change the fact that you look pretty elegant” Kuroo scratched the back of his neck in shyness the team were smiling right next to him
“Well let's leave you both to it” Yaku grabbed the others giving the two alone space
“Well? Let’s get started” you smiled excitedly as you dragged Kuroo to the dance floor
You both couldn’t deny the fun you both had dancing and partying. You had to admit that this was the most fun you had with Kuroo. You felt saddened that after all this your “relationship” was going to end. Though you made sure you made the most out of the time you had left.
“I’m going to the restroom can you get me some more punch when I get back” you asked as Kuroo nodded
“Anything for you m’lady” Kuroo teased as you lightly slapped his shoulder
“Alright you big goof I’ll be off” you chuckled as you went to the bathroom
As Kuroo went to the area with he punch he noticed his ex walking towards him as he got some punch for the both of you making him sigh in annoyance
“What do you want” Kuroo said coldly “Don’t think I didn’t see you follow me a few days ago with my date” he glared putting emphasis on date
“I know but I just want you to give me one chance… just one” she pleaded
“Isn’t what you’ve seen already enough for you to leave me alone” Kuroo snapped
“You don’t have to pretend to be with someone just because you don’t wanna give me a chance” she said making Kuroo laugh
“I think you need to get your brain checked sweetheart you’re acting very cuckoo” Kuroo sneered
“We both know that date was one sided” she scowled taking him back “It’s sad that they pitied you that much that they’d agree to go to prom with you” she continued as Kuroo growed in anger
“And what? My feelings for them are real! So shove that chance you think you have in your ass!” Kuroo snapped slamming the table next to him “After all it's only good for pleasing other guys isn’t it” Kuroo glared intensely shocking his ex
“You–” She tried to speak out though she was interrupted by Kuroo
“Whether it’s real or not, they care more about me more than you ever have!” Kuroo scowled the argument grew more heated
“You know you don’t and won’t ever have a chance” she gritted her teeth
“Even so I’d rather chase someone who cares about me even only platonically then a cheating whore” Kuroo clenched his fist“Even if we’ll be stuck as friends forever I’ll live with that I’ll even push those feelings back” Kuroo tried holding his tears back as some began to fall
“Fine let it be that way” she said “Just know you’re pathetic especially for your feelings for them” she walked away leaving Kuroo alone
Unbeknownst to Kuroo you heard everything he said about you. You felt your heart rapidly thumping from everything he professed about you even more so at the thought that he felt those feelings for you and was willing to push them back for you just so you’d both stay as friends. As you were dazed however you noticed Kuroo looking at you.
“I… How long were you watching?” Kuroo sniffed
“Enough to hear the whole thing” you replied back quietly
“I see…” he looked down trying to wipe the tears
You felt the tension between the both of you grow bigger and bigger you had to say something
“Did you mean all the things you said to her?” You asked
“Yeah every single one” Kuroo nodded
“Even the part where you’d accept us just being friends” you played with your fingers
“Listen Y/N nothing’s gonna change I promise we can still be best friends and–” Kuroo stopped as he felt your soft lips press against his
“You don’t need to accept us just being friends, I want it to be more” you smiled brightly as he blushed
“Yeah I’d love that!” He spoke as he pulled you for another kiss though you both stopped as soon as you heard a loud YEAH!
“MY PLAN WORKED!” Bokuto let out a very mischievous laughter followed by Yaku punching his elbow
“You ruined their moment!” Yaku scolded
“Sorry I can’t help it!” Bokuto rubbed his elbow
“Well I’ll have to thank my best bro!” Kuroo cheered “I’M THE BEST BROTHER AND BRO IN THE WORLD” Bokuto yelled in joy with the biggest toothy smile
“Yeah you really are” you smiled brightly

he was looking for you with yamaguchi by his side, his headphones around his neck as he glanced around for you, his hand in his pockets. he was going to walk you home, like usual. like the two of you had been doing since you met. ao, when he heard you say his name, his full name, from behind the corner, he stopped his friend with his arm, listening closely to what you were saying.
“tsukishima?” you questioned the friend you were talking to.
“no i don’t like him, he’s rude and just doesn’t work towards anything, it’s frustrating.” you scoffed, and as much as tsukishima didn’t want to admit it, he felt his eyes widen, his heart stopped for just a moment.
“i’m just around him because tadashi’s his friend.” yamaguchi’s mouth hung open, shocked at your words as he looked at his friend. tsukishima took a deep breathe before stepping out from around the corner, a deep scowl on his lips.
“good thing I don’t like you either.” he spoke, walking passed you and not looking back. he didn’t really know why he felt like punching something at that moment, you just walked home with him. you came to a few of his games and practices. there was no reason for him to be this upset. there was no reason for his chest to hurt so bad.
εïз┊k. tobio
he left the gym, going to fill up his water bottle that had been emptied for the second time that day. practice had been rough on the boy for a few days. for reasons unknown, he wasn’t feeling up to playing volleyball, which was completely unlike the kageyama tobio everyone knew. instead, he wanted to hang out with you. he didn’t know why. the feeling that arose in his stomach every time he talked to you was foreign, something he’d never felt before nor experienced. he’d done his research here and there though nothing helped his confusion on the matter.
but because of this same reason, he was avoiding you any chance he got. he wasn’t  ready to talk to you yet, because he knew, he just knew he wouldn't be able to form a sentence in front of you until he knew just why his stomach felt so…fluttery whenever he even looked at you. as he stood at the water fountain near the entrance to the school, he glanced to the side, not expecting to see you walking in his direction without realizing he was there. swiftly and quickly, he put the cap back on his bottle and sped to hide behind the large tree that hung over the water fountain, thankfully it was big enough to shield him from your sight. though much to his dismay, your friend had stopped by the fountain for a drink, making you stop and continue the conversation he’d seen you having from afar.
“i just can’t stand him, he’s so awkward.” you rolled your eyes, your hands smoothing back your hair. “and he’s just so obsessed with that sport, if he talks, it’s about volleyball!” you looked so frustrated. who were you talking about? was it someone on the team? kageyama didn’t really know if you were close with anyone else on the team. unconsciously, he leaned towards you, trying to hear as much as he could before you both left. your friend wiped the extra water off their chin.
“yeah, that does sound annoying. can’t you just tell him to stop?”
“well, i’ve thought about it. but even if i do tell him to stop, then he just wouldn’t talk at all.” as you and your friend began walking again, he almost thought about asking you who it was, until your friend spoke once more.
“poor kageyama,” they nudged your arm with their elbow, you could practically hear the grin in their tone. “his only friend talking shit behind his back, he’s lonely enough as it is y/n!” you scoffed, though soon grinned as well.
“i’m sorry he’s just so unlikeable! It’s impossible not to talk shit!” kageyama stood still. unmoving. looking at nothing but your back as you walked away, his eyes wide and mouth agape. what was this feeling he felt in his stomach? yet another unfamiliar feeling, though this one was more, painful, sickening, than the fluffy one he’d felt not too long ago. you were talking about him. not someone else. he was right here, listening to you say you didn’t like him. he was right there, and you didn’t know.
kageyama’s breathe sped up, his chest rising and falling anxiously as you faded into the distance. his first thought, a thought you would’ve probably hated, was to go get a volleyball. go play volleyball. get a volleyball. go, go, go. this thought swarmed through his head like bunches of little bees, and he hated it.
before he knew it, he was back at the gym, his water spilling from the grip he’d had on the bottle. the only thing he could see was that ball right in front of him on the gym floor, and not the people around him trying to help their teammate. “kageyama!” at the sound of hinata's loud voice, he snapped out of whatever trance he was in, staring at the finger while also realizing the amount of people that watched him. “you’re crying, kageyama.” hinata's voice lowered, a concerned tone overpowering the previous annoyed one.
kageyama raised a hand to his face, wiping at his cheek, realizing that yes, he had been crying. and for some reason, some unknown reason, he was now fully aware of the nauseous, painful, overbearing feeling in his entire body. and within seconds, he collapsed. kageyama tobio had never experienced love before. kageyama tobio had never experienced heartbreak before. and now, he’ll never experience either ever again.
εïз┊s. koushi
he had been on his way out of the school to go home on his day off from practice. a day he’s been looking forward to, not because he’s not going to practice, but because he finally gets to spend some one on one time with you. something you two hadn’t really gotten in a long time. he thought that maybe, just maybe this was the day  he finally asked you out. after months upon months of countlessly chickening out, his teammates somehow got him to agree to confess. he was a little more excited than he should’ve been as his eyes scanned the courtyard for you. you two had agreed on a meeting place so he could technically pick you up and you’d walk together! he really, really hoped everything would go smoothly. he had his whole confession mapped out, he prepared and practiced beforehand so he didn’t look like a complete buffoon in front of you, his only real crush since junior high.
he peaked around the corner of the school, a place he’d always been so excited for school ever since he met you. you made him want to learn even more, to grow so much more. he loved being there with you. as he peaked around the corner, he caught a glimpse of your hair, along with you and your best friend’s voice talking as best friends would. naturally, he didn’t want to interrupt your conversation, so he decided to simply wait by scrolling through his phone until your conversation finished to let you know he was there. and though he didn’t mean to eavesdrop, how could he not?
“i thought you liked him y/n?” “me? Like him? no way.” your voice was low, serious and harsh, catching sugawara off guard. “i thought he was like…the responsible friend of the group. someone who could be chill and not some chaotic fiend like his volleyball friends. he’s just as bad as them and it’s infuriating.” you scoffed, making a pit form in his stomach. who were you talking about? noya? tanaka? he thought you enjoyed everyone on the team.
“but suga’s so nice, you shouldn’t talk about him like that.” your friend's tone was a little more glum than expected and your response was nothing he’d ever think you’d say.
“hmm? i mean not really, he’s just really weird.” his breathing hitched, his heartbeat growing faster and faster by the second. he clutched his phone in his hand, eyes wide as he let the startling information settle in. you…didn’t like him? you didn’t like him. you thought he was weird.  you thought he was infuriating. you didn’t like him.
you couldn’t say that about him, that couldn’t have been you. maybe he mixed you up with someone else because you wouldn’t say that about him. he could’ve sworn you felt the same way. though the fact slowly but surely invaded each and every thought in his mind, making it spin as he left. he walked away, not exactly being able to think right at that moment. he didn’t know how long it took him to wander his way back to his house, his eyes never leaving the ground he walked on.
he opened his house's front door, going in and slowly shutting it as his forehead leaned against the hard wood. “y/n hates me…” though he whispered, the three words echoed through the empty house. soon his whole body weight shifted to lean against the door, his arms stealing himself, his knees buckling before him as he fell to the ground. tears upon tears spilled from his eyes, loud sobs coming from his now sore throat.
he hoped today would go smoothly, and he thought he came up with the worst case scenario. but this…this was truly the worst outcome he could’ve ever imagined.
εïз┊b. koutarou
he said his goodbyes to akaashi before practically running to the classroom you and he shared. today was your one year anniversary...only of being friends… but! it was still an anniversary he’d like to celebrate. he thought for a surprise he’d give a VIP pass to his next game! even if it was just a piece of paper he colored on, he still thought it would mean a lot. he was so ready as he walked up to the classroom door, which was just cracked, just a bit. as his hand brushed the handle to open it, he heard your pretty voice, so he thought he’d wait for you to come out instead, a giddy excited smile on his face, he couldn’t stand still.
“why are you still hanging out with bokuto, y/n? I thought he annoyed you.” his eyebrows furrowed, through his smile still remain.
“he does, he’s just, too much? his mood swings, his energy that never runs out. it’s too much, and yes, it is annoying.” his usual happy smile grew wobbly, unsteady as he felt his head began to pound.
“so, then cut him off, it’s simple.” you sighed.
“well how do i do that? i have every class with him, that would be awkward. i’ll just wait until we graduate, i could probably put up with him until then.” bokuto, despite everything he just heard, smiled. it wasn’t a pretty one, not anymore.
he gently held the VIP pass in his callous hand, looking down at it as his vision got blurry. tears fell off his cheeks, down to the pass he’d worked so hard to make. he tried so hard to make his writing legible, to make it colorful and pretty, just for you since he knew you liked colorful and pretty. before you could come out of the room, he made sure not to let you see him. he walked away, even if class was just about to start. maybe he could skip class, just this once.
εïз┊a. keiji
he strolled throughout the school looking for you, though in no particular rush. he was a little anxious, a little scared to talk to you since once he did find you, he was going to tell you how he felt. something bokuto and konoha had been pressuring him to do for the few years he’d known you. he’d had a crush on you, liked you ever since he told you about his love for writing and reading. you’d supported him when he said he wanted to make a living from it, you smiled and said you’d read his books. that was probably one of his happiest and giddiest moments. he almost fell in love with you on the spot. usually, he was not one to trust people too quickly, but you were the exception. you made him feel so safe, like he was in the right place when he was by your side.
it was such an indescribable feeling he felt when he sees you smile, laugh, giggle, anything of the sort. your smile was contagious, your laugh as well. It was something he thought he’d never be able to go a day without. so, as he was just about to walk around the corner, he suddenly heard your laugh, your giggle and immediately stopped in his tracks as a lopsided smile appeared on his lips. and despite him wanting to be respectful and give you your privacy while talking to your friend, he couldn’t help but listen as he stood listening to your giggles.
“no, no! they’re actually pretty stupid. like the ideas themselves are terrible but then he’s actually worse at putting them onto paper.” akaashi’s smile turned into one of confusion. since when did you talk so harshly towards people? and he was even more confused that you weren’t talking to him about this, you told him everything. did someone make you upset? he could surely help you if you talked to him.
“is it really that bad?”
“it is, plus he’s just so quiet and he stares…a lot and honestly it’s really uncomfortable.” someone made you uncomfortable? suddenly he felt himself become more engaged in your conversation, wanting to figure out just who made you feel the way you did. was it someone in your class? it must have been, right?
“aww well that sucks, he was kinda cute too.”
“i mean, the looks go to waste when you have a terrible personality.” your voice got quieter as you and your friend began walking away. “i guess that just means akaashi will never get in a relationship cuz if  i don’t like him, no one will.” akaashi leaned against the wall, your voice playing on repeat in his head. you were talking about him? the whole time? he made you uncomfortable? he stared at you? he lacks personality? his writing was terrible, stupid..?
a sudden pain coursed through his chest as he dragged a hand over his slightly opened mouth, shocked and confused. his chest tightened, and although this anxious feeling was one he experienced quite often, this time it was for a reason he’d never been through before. and before he knew it, his vision blurred, his head grew fuzzy, and he felt…small. yiny and trapped inside the ways of his overthinking and pained mind. he was truly hoping to walk out of school with your hand in his. instead, he ran out, pained and crying.
εïз┊o. tooru
he was wandering throughout the school, looking for you specifically. not only did he want you to come to practice and watch him since he knew you enjoyed seeing him play, but he just wanted to spend as much time with you as possible. you were his first crush in a while, so it’d only make sense for him to want to be around you so much. yes, he does admit it’s a lot, but he just doesn’t want to lose you.
he was in an especially good mood today, not for any particular reason, he just…was so grateful to have you around. you were like the sun in his life, his beacon of light and hope he couldn’t get anywhere else. you made him feel like he was enough, that he’s done his best throughout his life. and truly, just seeing your smile was enough to brighten his day, being around you in general made his day so much better. he really didn’t know what he’d ever do without you. that was his last thought as he heard your voice coming from around the corner, the angelic voice he loved to hear every single day.
“oikawa?” he thought you knew he was there, but when you kept talking, he stopped where he stood. “that self absorbed jerk? what about him?” his genuine smile he’d had all day fell into a confused frown as he tried to process your words.
“i’m shocked you deal with him all the time.”
“yeah i know, he’s so clingy, and not to mention a volleyball obsessed arrogant narcissist, that’s it, i can’t stand him sometimes.” your voice rose without you knowing it, your friend that stood with you telling you to calm down.
oikawa’s pulse quickened, his breathing unsteady though he put a smile on his face once more as he walked around the corner. but this smile was one of a pure facade he’d perfected oh so long ago. “y/n-Chan~ i’ve been looking everywhere for you!” he laughed, giggled as he through an arm around your shoulder. though he heard you, loud and clear, he’d pretend he heard nothing. nothing at all because he knew his heart couldn’t handle the pain of letting you go so soon.
εïз┊s. kiyoomi
he walked throughout the crowded hallways, heading to volleyball practice like any other day. though, today was a bit different since you weren’t with him. usually you’d walk next to him, talking his ear off while he went to practice after school, but not today apparently. it confused him, worried him, but he wouldn’t say it outloud. it was as he was rounding a corner that he understood why you weren’t with him, you were leaning against the wall, holding your books, your friend talking to you about something. he didn’t want to be nosy, so he was just going to go around, it wasn’t any of his business. until he heard his name.
“sakusa? no, of course i don’t like him, he’s an asshole,” his eyebrows furrowed, you said it in such an obvious tone, it confused him. your friend agreed. was he rude? he didn’t think he’d ever been mean to you, so why? “and just between us, volleyball isn’t as cool as he thinks it is. i don’t know why he wants to do it professionally. it’s-”
at that point, he left. he didn’t need to hear anymore, he knew where you stood and he wouldn’t bother you anymore. it was an interesting feeling, because while he was angry, he was hurt and for the first time in a long time, he felt his vision get blurry, tears filling them to the brim. why would he cry for you? why did his heart just break in two? if you’d just waited a little longer, he might’ve gotten warmed up to you. showed you his soft, vulnerable side.
but now, standing on the court playing alongside a professional team, doing what he loved, he’s glad he didn’t show you anything. he’s glad he didn’t have you standing next to him, but he hopes you see him. see him on your TV and think to yourself, ‘wow, he did it.’ because now, he knew he didn’t need you.
εïз┊t. satori
he pranced around looking for you throughout the dorms. you both were going to hang out and he was told to meet you near the entrance of the dorms. he was super excited because after a lot of thinking, he decided this would be the day he told you he liked you. you’d been friends for a while, about six months, and throughout those months, he grew to have a huge crush on you. you just treated him, normally. you weren’t freaked out by him like many others were and he was always grateful for that. because you were different.
but as he was about to round a corner, he heard your voice and his first thought was to hide and scare you once you turned around, he always he that to you, it was something that was just kinda a part of your friendship. so, he leaned his back against the wall, smirking to himself as you spoke with your friend, someone he’d never met but that was fine with him. “i should probably go, tendou will be here in a few minutes.” you complained, fed up and annoyed. it made him worry a bit, but he knew he could cheer you up, like all the other times!
“tendou? you still hang out with him?”
“yeah, for some reason i still do.” you sighed, and tendou’s eyebrows furrowed, confusion the only feeling in his body at that moment, his heartbeat speeding up just a bit. “he just..he just creeps me out. does that make sense?”
“oh yeah, of course it does, i’m pretty sure he creeps everyone out.” tendou’s eyes grew wide as he stared at the ground, a pit forming in his stomach, making him nauseous where he stood.
he couldn’t bring himself to listen to the rest of your conversation, instead just trudging back to his dorm room, his eyes never leaving the floor he walked on. looks like you weren’t different, not different at all.

They have such a high pride that they can never humble down. Never being humble enough to say 'I love yous' always keeping you a secret. Always.
And they hate it so much, they fucking do. They want to hold you in their arms as they gently soothe you. They want to speak to you, they want to -
but they can never. Always afraid that one step wrong and that they might lose their position and such or worse, be seen as weak. After all, they have to maintain a reputation. They have to work endless, even if it means pushing everyone away they hold dear, pushing you away too.
They are hurt, but they never seem to take a notice of that. They want to say that they are also sorry, they too want to cry. But can't, they simply can't the tears don't roll out. All they feel is a void and emptiness they can't explain and just wish that people noticed that.
After all they too are a living being.
And now they are struck with grief of never stopping you from leaving. Now, they question, whether their pride matters or not? Whether they have to do what everyone expects of them. Whether they have to bury their feelings or not-
Whether, they can be themselves or not? Whether they can be honest with people or watch them leave.
But does it matter anymore? After all, all they have is their pride left. The only thing that they live for and their value of being useful.

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the city skylines where Y/N and Tsukishima's love story began. It was a place filled with memories and promises, but today, the air was heavy with uncertainty. Tomorrow was meant to be the day when Y/N would become Tsukishima's wife, the day they had eagerly awaited and planned for. Yet, fate had a cruel twist in store.
Y/N had always been a girl of hope and dreams. Growing up, she had always believed in love and soulmates. Her engagement to Tsukishima was supposed to be a fairy tale come true.
When she first met Tsukishima, Y/N couldn't help but be intrigued by his stoic and reserved demeanor on the volleyball court. It was a chilly autumn afternoon, and they were both participating in a local volleyball tournament. Y/N had always been drawn to the sport, and she eagerly observed the players, seeking to learn from their techniques and tactics.
As she watched the matches unfold, her attention was drawn to a tall and lanky tall young man in the middle position. Tsukishima's movements were precise and calculated, and he displayed a level of skill that impressed even the most seasoned players. However, what caught Y/N's attention the most was the intensity in his eyes and the way he seemed to keep his emotions tightly locked away.
Curiosity got the better of her, and during a break between sets, Y/N decided to strike up a conversation with him. "You're an excellent middle blocker. Your blocks are on point."
Tsukishima glanced at her briefly, his expression remaining impassive. "Thanks," he replied curtly.
Undeterred by his reserved response, Y/N continued, determined to break through his shell. "I've seen you play a few times before. Your techniques are impressive. How long have you been playing volleyball?"
"Since elementary school," he replied tersely, not offering any more information.
Y/N sensed his reluctance to engage in conversation, but she was determined to connect with him on some level. As the tournament progressed, she made small efforts to strike up conversations during breaks, asking about his favorite plays or how he got into volleyball. It was a slow process, but Y/N's genuine interest and friendliness gradually began to chip away at Tsukishima's guarded exterior.
Over time, they found themselves exchanging more than just volleyball-related conversations. They discovered shared interests in books, music, and even silly jokes that would elicit a rare chuckle from Tsukishima. Y/N learned that beneath his aloof façade, he had a dry wit that matched her own, and they found comfort in each other's subtle sarcasm.
As their conversations grew more frequent, Y/N noticed that Tsukishima's walls were starting to come down. He seemed more at ease, even cracking a genuine smile from time to time. Y/N was thrilled that she was able to break through the barriers he had built around himself.
Tsukishima's childhood friend, Asami, became a part of their lives too. They were the three musketeers, but little did Y/N know that the bond between Tsukishima and Asami was deeper than she imagined. They even had a lighthearted marriage pact with Asami, Tsukishima's childhood friend, that if none of them were married by the age of 30, they would marry each other.
But life took a different turn when Y/N came into the picture. Tsukishima and Y/N's connection was undeniable, and they fell in love deeply and irrevocably. Their love seemed to transcend the bounds of their childhood pact, and they decided to get engaged, looking forward to a lifetime of happiness together.
As the soft evening light streamed through the curtains, Y/N found herself lost in a whirlwind of memories. The room felt filled with echoes of laughter and whispered promises as she reminisced about the journey that led her to this very moment. Her fingers gently traced the delicate gold band adorning her finger – the engagement ring that symbolized the love story she had always dreamed of.
It was a lazy evening, and Y/N had decided to surprise Tsukishima with a visit to his home. The knot of anticipation tightened in Y/N's stomach as she approached Tsukishima's house. Tomorrow was meant to be the day of their long-awaited wedding, and she had come over to surprise him with the final touches they had planned together. A warm smile graced her lips, and she couldn't wait to see the look on his face when he saw the arrangements they had made.
However, as she pushed the door open, her heart plummeted to her feet. Right at the entrance, a pair of unfamiliar women's shoes lay neatly placed, catching her eye like a glaring beacon. Her mind struggled to process what she was seeing. Thoughts raced, but she couldn't deny the sinking feeling in her chest.
An unsettling sense of dread took over as Y/N stepped further into the house, her footsteps echoing in the silence. "Tsukishima?" she called, hoping for an explanation, hoping that she was wrong.
What Y/N saw shattered her world into a million pieces. There, in the dimly lit room, stood Tsukishima and Asami, their hands intertwined as they gazed into each other's eyes with a tenderness that was meant only for lovers. Y/N's breath caught in her throat as she tried to comprehend the scene before her.
Her voice quivered as she walked through the house, and the sight that met her eyes was a painful blow to her heart. In the living room, there they were – Tsukishima and Asami, sitting close together, their hands intertwined, their faces far too close for Y/N's comfort.
The room seemed to spin around her, and she clutched her chest, trying to steady her breath. Her vision blurred with tears, and she took a step back, unable to bear the betrayal before her.
Asami's eyes widened with guilt, and Tsukishima's face turned pale, realizing that their secret had been exposed. Y/N took a step back, her mind racing, desperately searching for an explanation or a reason that could justify what she had just witnessed.
The damage had been done, and Y/N could hardly bring herself to look at either of them.
"I-I can't believe this," Y/N whispered, her voice trembling with hurt and disbelief. "How could you do this to me, Tsukishima?"
Asami looked equally guilty, her eyes filled with remorse. "Y/N, we never wanted you to find out like this. It just happened, and we never meant to hurt you."
Y/N felt a mix of emotions – anger, betrayal, and heartbreak. Her whole world felt like it was crumbling around her, and she struggled to find her footing amidst the chaos of her emotions.
Tsukishima reached out to her, his voice filled with regret. "Y/N, please, let me explain. It's not what you think. It was a mistake, and I never wanted to hurt you."
"How can you say that?" Y/N choked out, tears streaming down her cheeks. "You knew how much I loved you, and yet, you chose to betray me."
The words hung heavy in the air, and the pain was palpable. Y/N turned on her heels and ran out of the house, feeling like she couldn't breathe. The world outside felt like a blur, but she kept moving, seeking solace and clarity amidst the chaos in her heart.
Y/N found herself standing on the same beach where she and Tsukishima had once shared beautiful moments. The waves crashed relentlessly against the shore, mirroring the turmoil in her soul.
She clutched the engagement ring on her finger, a painful reminder of the love and dreams that had shattered. The future she had envisioned had crumbled into pieces, leaving her heartbroken and lost.
At that moment, she didn't know what to do or where to go. But as she stared out into the vastness of the ocean. As Y/N stood on the beach, gazing out at the vast expanse of the ocean, she felt an overwhelming sense of despair. The crashing waves mirrored the turmoil within her, and she was torn between holding onto the love she once believed in and the pain of the betrayal that had shattered it.
Tomorrow was meant to be the day she had dreamed of – the day she would marry Tsukishima, her soulmate, and start a new chapter of their lives together. But now, it felt like all those dreams were being thrown away, lost in the depths of the ocean before her.
Her mind was a whirlwind of confusion, anger, and heartbreak. Part of her wanted to confront Tsukishima, to demand answers, to try and salvage what was left of their love. But another part of her knew that the trust had been broken, and nothing could ever be the same again.
As the sun set on the horizon, casting a warm, orange glow across the water, Y/N sank to her knees on the sand. She clutched her engagement ring tightly, feeling the weight of its symbolism in her hand. It was a symbol of the love they had once shared, but now, it felt like a painful reminder of the love that had been lost.
Her heart ached, not just for herself but for everyone who had been excitedly preparing for the wedding. Friends and family had come together to celebrate their love, but now, it seemed like it had all been a facade.
She closed her eyes, feeling the tears welling up once more. It wasn't just the wedding she was mourning; it was the future she had imagined with Tsukishima – the laughter, the shared dreams, the moments of love and understanding.
As Y/N stared out at the ocean, lost in her thoughts, a figure caught her eye in her peripheral vision. Turning her head, she saw Asami running towards her, her face etched with worry and concern.
"Y/N!" Asami called out, breathless as she reached her side. "I've been looking everywhere for you. Are you okay?"
Y/N felt a mix of emotions at the sight of Asami – the woman who had been at the center of the painful revelation. Part of her wanted to push her away, to demand answers, but another part yearned for someone to lean on in her moment of vulnerability.
Tears welled up in Y/N's eyes, and she turned her gaze back to the ocean, unable to meet Asami's gaze. "How could you?" she choked out, her voice trembling with hurt. "How could both of you betray me like this?"
Asami's face fell, and she knelt beside Y/N, her voice filled with remorse. "I know I can't justify what happened, and I never intended to hurt you, Y/N. It was a mistake, and I regret it deeply."
Y/N's heart ached, torn between wanting to hear an apology and wanting to push Asami away. "A mistake?" she whispered, her voice filled with bitterness. "Do you have any idea how much pain I'm in right now?"
Asami reached out to touch Y/N's hand gently. "I can't undo what happened, but I'm here now. Please, let me try to explain."
A part of Y/N wanted to turn away, to shut Asami out completely. But another part couldn't help but yearn for closure and understanding, as painful as it might be.
Taking a deep breath, Asami began to speak, her voice soft and remorseful. "It started out as innocent , Y/N. Tsukishima and I have known each other since childhood, and we had this marriage pact. But as we spent more time together recently, old feelings resurfaced, and we made a mistake. I'm so sorry."
Y/N listened, her heart torn between anger and sadness.
"Why didn't you both tell me?" Y/N asked, her voice trembling with emotion. "You were both going to let me marry Tsukishima without knowing the truth?"
Asami looked down, her guilt evident in her eyes. "We knew it was wrong, and we wanted to stop, but we were scared of hurting you even more. It was selfish, and I regret it deeply."
Y/N took a deep breath, her heart heavy with conflicting emotions. "He's got you on a pedestal but me in his arms," she uttered, her voice barely above a whisper. "Is that how it was all along? Was I just a place holder for him?"
Asami looked down, her gaze filled with guilt. "I can't speak for Tsukishima's feelings, Y/N. But I do know that you mean a lot to him. He loves you, but he also made a terrible mistake."
As Y/N stood there in front of Asami, clutching the engagement ring tightly in her hand, her tears fell like raindrops on a stormy night.
Just as she was about to speak, she heard a familiar voice call out her name. Tsukishima emerged from the shadows, his eyes filled with a mixture of sorrow and regret.
"Y/N, please," he pleaded, his voice cracking with emotion. "Give me a chance to explain."
But the pain within Y/N was too raw, too overwhelming to bear. "Explain what, Tsukishima?" she cried, her voice breaking with each word. "The lies, the betrayal? There's nothing left to say."
Tsukishima took a step closer, reaching out as if to touch her, but he hesitated. "I know I made a terrible mistake," he said, his voice choked with remorse. "But please, let me try to make it right."
Y/N's heart ached, torn between wanting to believe him and wanting to shield herself from further pain. "How can you make this right?" she asked, her voice filled with anguish. "You're engaged to me!"
As Tsukishima looked into her tear-filled eyes, his own filled with pain. "I was a fool, Y/N. I let my fear and confusion cloud my judgment. I never wanted to hurt you, but I let my emotions get the best of me."
Tears streamed down Y/N's cheeks, and she shook her head, unable to find the strength to forgive him just yet. "Why did you even ask me to marry you," she whispered, her voice barely audible above the crashing waves.
Tsukishima stepped closer, his desperation evident. "Please, don't throw the ring away," he implored. "It meant something once, and I want the chance to prove to you that it can mean something again."
In that moment, Y/N's heart wavered, torn between the love she had once shared with Tsukishima and the pain of his betrayal. The memory of the happiness they had once found in each other tugged at her heartstrings.
Summoning all the courage she had left, Y/N shook her head, tears falling like raindrops. "I can't, Tsukishima," she said, her voice resolute.
The weight of the engagement ring on her finger felt suffocating, a constant reminder of the shattered dreams and broken promises. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and she knew that she couldn't carry the burden of that ring any longer.
With trembling hands, she removed the engagement ring, the symbol of a love that had turned to betrayal. As she held it in her palm, her heart ached with the weight of the decision she was about to make. She looked at the ring, its delicate gold band gleaming in the fading light, and she knew that it no longer held the same significance it once did.
With a mix of pain and determination, she flung her arm forward, releasing the ring into the vast expanse of the sea. It glimmered for a moment in the sunlight before disappearing beneath the waves, swallowed by the ocean's depths.
As the ring vanished from sight, Y/N felt a sense of pain wash over her.
The sea seemed to embrace her grief, its vastness swallowing her sorrow.
As the ring disappeared beneath the water's surface, Y/N felt an overwhelming emptiness engulf her. The tears kept falling, and she knew that walking away from him wouldn't erase the pain she felt.
Her heart shattered into a million pieces, and the world around her seemed to blur into a haze of desolation. The love she had once believed to be eternal had crumbled, and she was left standing on the precipice of a dark and unknown future.
With a heavy heart, she turned away from the sea, Asami and Tsukishima, feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders. The beach, once a place of happiness and laughter, now held only memories of betrayal and heartache.
Days turned into weeks, and the ache in Y/N's heart showed no signs of subsiding. The pain of betrayal lingered, leaving her feeling lost and adrift. She tried to keep her distance from both Tsukishima and Asami, seeking solace in the company of friends who were always there to support her.
One evening, as she was going through old messages on her phone, Y/N stumbled upon a post. It was a picture of Tsukishima and Asami standing together, their arms wrapped around each other with smiles that felt like a cruel twist of fate.
As her eyes widened in shock, she began to scroll through the messages and discovered the truth. Tsukishima and Asami had indeed gone through with the wedding, sealing their love just a few hours after Y/N's heart had been shattered. They didn't want all that money and venue to go to waste and just like that her dreams were stolen from her.
The revelation hit Y/N like a tidal wave, knocking the breath out of her. It was a betrayal on a whole new level, as if the universe was conspiring against her, mocking her pain. The two people she had trusted the most had found comfort in each other, using their deceit to validate their actions.
"How could they?" Y/N whispered, her voice cracking with disbelief. It felt like a knife through her heart, adding salt to the wounds that were still raw and bleeding.
The sense of betrayal and hurt overwhelmed her, and she felt a mix of anger, sorrow, and confusion. It was as if the world had collapsed around her, and she found herself questioning everything she once believed in.
At that moment, Y/N couldn't see a path forward. The pain was all-consuming, leaving her feeling lost and broken. She wanted to scream, to demand answers, but the bitter reality was that there were no answers that could mend her wounded heart.
In the distance, the sun began to set, casting a melancholic glow over the apartment. As darkness descended, it mirrored the darkness that had settled within Y/N's soul.
Grief washed over her in waves, as she mourned not only the love that was lost but also the future that could have been. She pictured the life they had planned together – a home filled with love, laughter, and children, growing old hand in hand.
But now, those dreams lay shattered, scattered like fragments of glass on the cold ground. The pain was all-consuming, leaving her feeling adrift and lost in a sea of sorrow.
Y/N felt as if her heart was like an artist's scrapped work discarded in the trash bin. The pain of the shattered love was akin to the pain of watching something she had poured her heart and soul into being tossed aside, unappreciated and unwanted.
The canvas of their love story, once filled with vibrant colors and promising strokes, now lay in ruins, torn apart by deceit and betrayal. She could almost see the paint splattered across the floor, an abstract representation of the chaos that had consumed her emotions.
She had invested so much in this masterpiece, carefully adding each brushstroke with love and hope. But as fate would have it, the canvas had been marred beyond repair, leaving her feeling like an artist who had lost her way.
Her memories served as a painful reminder of what could have been – a love story that was meant to be cherished and admired. Instead, it had been abandoned, a casualty of human flaws and weaknesses.
She felt like a shell of her former self, her spirit bruised and battered. The red strings of fate that she had once believed in now felt like a cruel joke, a reminder that love didn't always lead to happiness.
Fate had played a cruel trick, entangling her heart with the wrong person, and how she was left to untangle herself.

“dump your bf if he’s never given you flowers before”
Tumblr media
He tries to console himself.
Really, he does.
He tells himself that it’s really not that serious, and all you did was like a tweet saying to dump your boyfriend if he’s never given you flowers before.
Has he ever given you flowers?
He thinks of your one month anniversary, then your six month, then your one year, then your two year anniversary, and how none of them were spent with a beautiful flowery confection in your hands.
He recalls your first date, how it was spent inside a small cafe where you both spilled your hearts to one another. He knows he never bought you any flowers. Yamaguchi proposed the idea, but he quickly shut him off with a, “what kind of bullshit is that? It’s only the first date, that’s too… romantic, I guess.”
Fuck, he should’ve listened to him. Yamaguchi is never wrong. Never.
He’s learned his lesson now.
The next time he sees you (an excruciating ten minutes after he’s seen your liked tweet) he sits you down on his lap.
“What’s this for?” You smile, and it’s that pretty one that nearly makes Tsukishima melt down to the ground.
“I have a question.”
“Okay,” you grab his cheeks into your two palms and squish his face together. He normally hates the action and immediately pushes your hands away, but he doesn’t have time for that now. Not when you’d break up with him for not buying you flowers.
“Would you ever break up with me?”
Your head tilts to the side in genuine confusion. Break up with your Kei?
“Don’t think too much into it.” He flicks your forehead gently. He can already tell your train of thought, and how you tend to overthink every detail of your life, so he slows your brain down.
“Uh, maybe if you cheated on me? But I think I’d kill you before I broke up with you, yeah.”
Okay. Yeah. He’s fine with that answer. He can live with that.
Tumblr media
Maybe he can’t.
It’s been nearly a month since he last asked you that question, and it still haunts him to this day.
He thinks that maybe one day you’ll come home and tell him that you’re sick of him, that he doesn’t deserve you, and you’ll pack all your bags and leave.
It stresses him out so much, that he vents. He vents. To Bokuto Kōtarō of all people. (He’s gone mad!)
Bokuto does the most Bokuto thing you’d expect, and gives Tsukishima the most obvious answer.
“Well why don’t you just buy them flowers then?”
“It’s not that easy, dumbass.”
“I think it is… I mean, you’re sad you haven’t bought them flowers, so buy them flowers. Problem fixed.”
He leaves the conversation utterly dissatisfied. Until the next day, at 3AM, Tsukishima Kei has a eureka! moment.
“I’ll just buy them flowers!”
(He jolts out of bed with a force so strong that he wakes you up.
You groan, sleepy and with drool at the corner of your mouth, “what are you yelling for? Go back to bed, Kei.”
“Yeah,” he whispers, to nobody in particular, “I’ll just buy you flowers.)
He leaves the house that morning, at around 9AM with a mission in mind. He’s going to the flower shop.
-
Tsukishima enters the small store with hesitation, staring at all the beautiful plants and flowers with skepticism. Which ones would you like? What if you’re allergic to the one he picks out?
“Hello? How can I help you, sir?” A nice lady with a baby pink apron approaches him. She smiles, and Tsukishima thinks he’s being far too dramatic. It’s just some flowers.
“Uh, I’m looking for flowers that send the message of ‘I love you’ or something like that.”
The lady smiles even brighter.
-
Your boyfriend walks into your home with a bouquet of red roses and baby’s-breath blooms. The arrangement is huge, big enough to cover the entirety of your Kei’s head.
“What’s this?” You ask, when he approaches you and places the roses on your lap.
“They’re for you.”
“Really?” Your eyes are as bright as he’s ever seen them, as dazzling as the sun in the sky.
And he can’t believe that he’s deprived himself of this. Of seeing you so happy over something so mundane—so simple—that your eyes shine brighter than all the lights in the night sky.
He loves you. And you love your Kei. (And those red roses, too.)

Tumblr media
it was tuesday.
a frigid air pierced your limbs and left you to rot away, with the windows shut tight and the door locked. there was no mistakening the dark bags hanging beneath your eyes or the flakes of skin peeling from your bottom lip, nor the soft pleas of your stomach or the iciness of your fingertips. you basked in eternal slumber and silence and darkness and whatnot, save for the ticks of a clock that was 14 minutes behind and the hum of the air conditioning.
you were not frightened in the slightest. the warning signs plastered on your flesh were no great concern, and you could not fathom the idea of having to function again. it was horribly consuming.
with a groan, you released yourself from bed, your legs trembling under the mere weight of the air. you avoided the collections of trash and clothes splayed across the floor, being careful not to disturb the peace that had formed over the past handful of weeks. the sight of the kitchen was much more refreshing.
you were locked in stasis. contrary to the comfort these walls once provided, they now served as a a form of imprisonment, designed to allow the grief and the sorrow and the anger and the guilt to coalesce and spill over. it was terribly suffocating — you wished to escape.
gently, you poured a cup of water (not that you drank more than a sip, anyways). a thought passed your mind.
you needed to leave.
Tumblr media
sendai was a home you could not find solace in anymore. gone was the youth encapsulated in the mountaintops and the hidden pathways and the convenience stores, and no longer could you feel at ease when faced with the neighborhoods you familiarized yourself with as a child.
your new apartment was shared with an old face — one you had only seen glances of in high school, notorious for his glasses and upfront attitude. he bore no hesitance when taking you in. instead, he was grateful for your presence, as if splitting the rent with him had taken off his life’s burden off of his shoulders.
he was quick to set ground rules — laundry days were on saturdays, trash needed to be taken out on sundays, the dish washer had to be clear at the end of the day, all groceries were shared, so on and so forth. you weren’t sure if you could keep up.
it took one week for him to actually conversate.
“why did you come back here?” he questioned, with a tone that implied he knew of you for years upon years (which would be false).
you picked at the skin of your lip. “why do you ask?”
“no reason. just curious.”
in a burst of energy, you recounted the tales of your past life, one of love and youth and joy; of the old apartment, of your past hobbies, of hajime. his gaze was so distant that you weren’t sure if he was listening at all.
in return, he expressed brief apologies and turned the story to himself — he discussed his volleyball career, his teammates, how he felt somewhat disconnected from his high school friends. he did not care to mention the exhaustion riddled into the pores on your face nor the weakness of your voice. that was all you needed. a conversation, not comfort.
only an hour later did he remind you of his name — tsukishima kei — and it was only then that you realized you had moved into an apartment without taking any precautions whatsoever. he laughed when you informed him of the situation.
this was not yet a home, but it was a house. and that was sufficient.
Tumblr media
a month had passed before tsukishima forced you to get a job. he was clearly not a fool — at some point (you couldn’t tell when), he realized you were paying off your share of the rent with your life savings, which irked him ever so slightly.
“do you plan on moving out and dying on the streets when you run out?” he complained, despite the concern laced in the fluctuations of his voice.
you began working at his former high school coach’s family store. the owner himself was welcoming — he didn’t question your circumstances nor your physical state, and merely mentioned in passing that he was “given a token of appreciation from a prized student.”
and so began the cycle. on weekday mornings, you would depart for work and tsukishima would leave for practice. occasionally, he would pack you lunch (“only because i had leftovers,” he’d say) or leave a can of coffee on the counter for you. you would work at the register until the amalgamation of students died down, and once you were left with an empty store, you would take a break and go on a walk (as requested by your boss). then, you would return in the afternoon to serve the same population of children, handing them their ice cream and their sandwiches and whatnot. when they all disappeared, the coach would let you free and dismiss you with a “good work today, let’s do it again tomorrow.”
returning home was your favorite part of the schedule. a majority of the time, tsukishima arrived later than you, leaving you to your own time until he came home with dinner and a drink.
it was a monotonous cycle, but enjoyable nonetheless.
Tumblr media
“i’m cutting off the beer for a month,” tsukishima exclaimed one warm summer night. you left your room to see him collecting unopened bottles and discarding them in a trash bag with little regard. you could only frown.
“those are all going to waste, we haven’t even opened them,” you groaned.
there was no response from the man as he continued to clear the apartment of any alcohol, akin to a parent cleansing their child’s home. before you could protest any further, he shut the door behind him and the crashing of bottles against one another could be heard beside the building.
tsukishima re-entered the apartment with empty hands and furrowed brows. “what’s up with the shitty face?” you asked from the couch.
he clicked his tongue at your comment and bore no response, instead letting his eyes wander to the screen in front of you. the morning news was playing, as usual. and yet, it was so wrong.
the screen flashed to a familiar face, one clad with a slight grin and sweat spread over his skin. his hair had grown slightly and his complexion had darkened, evidence of his labor. but most of all, he looked happy. his eyes screamed with a passion you hadn’t seen before, and despite his haggard appearance, he seemed to be content.
you did not see tsukishima rushing to turn off the television. you did not see the screen turn black, and you did not hear the noise diminish. you did not see tsukishima’s face adjacent to yours.
“hey. let’s go outside,” he muttered before moving to pull you up and out of the house
a delicate breeze washed over you both. the sun began to kiss you goodbye, and the noon crept up in its wake, leaving both of you in the dark.
“he looked so happy,” you whispered. “i don’t know what i’m doing wrong.”
you watched tsukishima light a cigarette in your peripherals, his lighter evidently battered and marred from heavy use. he made no move to offer one to you. “you’re not doing anything wrong,” he spoke firmly, although you could tell he was struggling to formulate the right combination of words in his head. “he’s just… going along a different path.”
“it should’ve been us on the same path. i feel so stupid. he’s gone on to do such great things, and i… what am i doing?”
tsukishima didn’t push the conversation any further. you were grateful.
Tumblr media
a week had passed before tsukishima told you he had gotten you a new job, one deeper in the city. on an early sunday morning, he presented a uniform and badge to you, your name imprinted on both. the effort made you smile.
at some point, a new cycle formed. the museum was a far cry from the run down family store, and tsukishima taught you how to welcome it with an open mind and open arms. he never did mention the exact reason for the new occupation, nor did he tell you why he was so adamant on enforcing routine in your life. nonetheless, you appreciated it.
the mundanity that your new job encapsulated was slightly more enjoyable than that of your former job. exploring the concrete rooms filled with statues and paintings and whatnot was a sufficient way to pass the time. every now and then, you’d catch your roommate detailing a specific sculpture to a curious visitor, the scene contrasting his typical behavior. not that you would ever mention it to him, though.
a new routine was not unwelcome, but it did not feel impactful anymore. you still burned blue in the night, your bones aching with reminiscence over a lost life. your hands and legs still knew tokyo; they still knew the morning commutes and the bustling cafés and the chirping crosswalks and your own home, one that had been so devastatingly haunted by grief. your heart still knew the morning calls and the evening texts and the handfuls upon handfuls of promises made on once solid territory, and yet, you knew to return to it was to betray yourself.
you missed iwaizumi hajime.
rather, you missed the life that you formulated in his presence, opposed to the shambles you had grown comfortable in now that you were back home. tsukishima had carved a clay pot for your worn soul, and yet you could not help but yearn for the comfort and stability and routine you established in a past life.
the soft padding of feet echoed outside your door. soft strings of light streamed under your door as your roommate entered the kitchen, his actions indiscernible as he maneuvered about carefully. you decided to step out to greet him.
a startled tsukishima turned around to face you. “what are you still doing up?” he interrogated, albeit not in offense. “it’s late. we have work tomorrow.”
“but i don’t want to go to work. i want to go home,” you protested. you felt childish all over again — the thirst for selfishness was one that could not escape you, even now. an overwhelming desire to be in control of your own life.
tsukishima furrowed his brows. “to tokyo?” you nodded. “okay… then let’s go to tokyo.” he paid no mind to the slanted smile that transformed your lips, instead opting to turn away and fill up his bottle. “but why?”
“i need to escape,” you sighed, as if releasing a burden that had been lingering for a moment too long. “i need change. i just- i feel so stuck. i need to live.”
he merely hummed in agreement before uttering a comment about your poor sleeping schedule and ushering you back to bed.
Tumblr media
tokyo was a city of hopes and dreams and noise. the shift from sendai’s cicada lullabies and whispers in the wind to the incessant chatter and obnoxious roads of the city was significant — any pedestrian would notice the irritation on you and tsukishima’s faces.
the inn he picked was small, yet slightly more comfortable than your current abode. the owners were kind and your neighbors were quiet, save for the occasional drunk couple. it was a life you remembering living, but not one you yearned for any longer.
in the night, you would both visit various attractions and markets and restaurants, with tsukishima insisting on paying for your meals (“as thanks for getting a life,” he argued). for that handful of days, you bore a smile that you weren’t sure would grace your lips ever again, for there was an adolescence in the evening activities that mended the remnants of your spirit. you felt whole.
on the last day, you brought tsukishima to a ramen house nearby the inn and promised to pay for the meal. it was a tuesday, again.
for reasons you could not discover, that appeared to be one of the busiest nights for the establishment — moments after you had settled, a line began to form, and the tables were crowded with families and friend groups and dates alike.
amidst the composition of metropolitans stood a man you wished you didn’t have to see. as if it were punishment, he locked his eyes with yours, the shock in his complimenting your dread.
you watched as he excused himself from his group while ignoring the cheers and shouts about him “shooting his shot.” tsukishima observed in tandem, seemingly reading the situation from a distance despite sitting right across from you.
you noticed the bold athletic trainer embroidered onto his chest, and the fitted red shirt he wore that matched those of his team. beads of sweat compiled on his forehead — you weren’t sure if it was from the density of the room or his exhaustion or anxiety. a small part of you hoped it was the second option.
“hey,” he began. “can- can we speak outside?”
you could not help but oblige.
hajime seemed to have developed an obsession with fidgeting with the hem of his shirt. you noticed the frayed strands on a spot that aligned perfectly with his hand, and you nearly laughed.
he coughed into his fist before rambling. “i’m sorry. i know you definitely don’t want to see me, and it’s not wrong of you at all to feel that way, but i just- i’ve thought about you- no, i think about you every day up until now. i know i don’t deserve you at all, and me being here is probably super upsetting, but-“
“hajime.”
the way you called his name seemed to deteriorate him and his principles. you finally felt otherwise.
“i really, really, didn’t want to see you at all. i don’t even want the thought of you to pass my mind. i’ve built a life outside of you and i’m tired of you interrupting it.” you witnessed his heart, mind, and body freeze simultaneously.
“i- i understand that, i know, i’m sorry. i’ve been- i’ve been reflecting a lot recently and i’ve known i was horribly in the wrong and i’m ashamed to have done nothing about it, and i know this sounds really, really dumb but i wish i had just stayed with you for that extra day because- because i don’t think i can go any longer without you now that i have you here, in front of me. could we- can we at least… keep in touch?” he seemed to speak without limitations, akin to a leaking clay pot. he was distressed, evidently. but you no longer saw his face and thought of guilt and love and yearning; you held no space for him.
you shook your head gently. “hajime, i don’t want you in my life anymore. you achieved your dreams, and i’m working on finding mine. that’s how it was meant to be.”
if not for the small lamp above the two of you, you would not have noticed the tears spilling onto his face. you bore no sympathy — with a goodbye and a small wave, you left him in the alley with a heavy heart and saline tears.
to witness him before you had awakened the truth riddled in your sinew and bloodstream: iwaizumi hajime was no longer a necessity. a truth that had cowered away beneath guilt and fragility and shame had uncovered itself, and for once, you breathed a full breath.
Tumblr media
oikawa seemed so vibrant on the other side of your screen, the argentinian sun kissing his skin almost perfectly. “…i miss you lots!! i’ll visit soon, maybe, and we can catch up and maybe go get coffee and then debrief and then…” he trailed off with an aloof grin, his words spilling out from your phone and reverberating around the living room. tsukishima stood in the kitchen, the sound of his deliberate chopping and washing contesting oikawa’s voice. “but anyways, i’ll see you soon! byebye!!”
you waved goodbye and hung up, leaving only the noise of your roommate’s cooking. a loud groan left his lips in the midst of his mixing, followed by a complaint about how irritable your friend’s voice was. you could only laugh.
gentle strings of moonlight spilled into the apartment through the kitchen window, the songs of the evening falling upon both of you and your shared comfort. tomorrow was your off day, granting you both an opportunity for an actual meal. tsukishima (begrudgingly) agreed to make your favorite dish, with the request that you’d make his favorite dessert next week.
“thank you for the meal,” you whispered. tonight would consist of good food and a relaxing night, and tomorrow would entail a day of rest and a weekly reset, along with another call with oikawa. with marred hands and a porcelain heart, you had managed at last to craft a solid life — steady health, steady friends, and a steady routine.
you would no longer be second best to anything, and that was sufficient enough.

Tsukishima said Goodbye to the rest of the team and walked down the road alone. The thought of spending a whole bus ride with the others who were still downtrodden from their loss against Aoba Josai was too annoying. Instead he called his older brother to pick him up. Thunder rumbled above and the steely gray sky matched his mood. Tch, it was just a club. No reason to care so much. Hands in his pockets he spotted the small corner shop his brother told him to meet him at. It was still a little ways away but Tsukki didn‘t mind the walk. He kicked a pebble along the path. Then something wet hit his neck and when he looked up, big drops of rain splattered his glasses. Cursing extensively he fell into a jog, his limbs still screaming from the exertion of the match.
He sought shelter at a run down bus stop halfway to the intersection. Still swearing he shook his hair, brushed at his clothes and then took off his glasses, feeling around for a somewhat dry spot on his shirt he could wipe them on.
Once he could see again, he noticed a figure standing with him under the rusty, slightly leaking roof.
The thought that he had seen you before clung to him much like his wet jacket. Then when you nodded and smiled politely he realized that you were that pudgy manager from Aoba Josai. Just his luck. When he decided to simply ignore you until his brother came, the ribbed roof creaked and a small wave of icy rain water splashed into his collar, running down the back of his neck. He gave a decidedly embarrassing shriek and jumped to the side. To add insult to injury he stumbled and bumped into you. Perfect.
Muttering an apology with a small bow he turned to stare stoically out onto the slowly flooding road. After a minute or so he heard you take a deep breath.
“You guys played really well.“, you said, awkwardly holding onto the strap of your bag, “It was pretty impressive seeing so many first years on the starting team.“
Tsukki guessed you meant it as a compliment and he was not about to tell you that it was simply lack of team members that influenced the roster significantly.
In his opinion, it would have been perfectly fine to stand there in silence but his proximity seemed to jump start some kind of rambling in you because now you just wouldn‘t shut up, “I‘m sure you‘ll have better luck next time.“
Tsukki was certain you were just taunting him at this point.
He bit back, “Your oh so „Great King“ is not unbeatable. Everyone has a weakness and next time we‘ll find yours and destroy you.“ Where the hell did that come from? It seemed that the loss did bother him more than he thought. He almost sounded like Hinata.
Even worse, your expression changed from - what he had interpreted as - patronizing to shocked. He pressed his lips together. So what if you had been sincere? He would rather listen to Hinata babble about the Little Giant for two hours than apologize. But then again… you did look genuinely confused and even… hurt (?) at his words.
Long silent seconds dragged on between you two, the downpour on the thin metal roof drumming in his ears. He threw another glance in your direction and a little triceratops figure dangling from your bag caught his eyes. It was the same make as the parasaurolophus he had on his house keys.
Tsukki let out a small breath, then looked around, needlessly making sure that no one would see or hear him and then mumbled “sorry“ being 110% sure that it was entirely drowned out by the heavy drops hitting the metal above.
Lightning flashed across the sky and he saw you flinch and retreat a little into the corner. Great, apparently he was trapped here with a five year old. Thinking of the triceratops he pressed out a rather lukewarm “there there“.
When the thunder clap followed you seemed to shrink even further and Tsukki saw that your hands started to shake.
… What would his brother do if he was here? Akiteru was always the one with the social skills. He would make sure that you were okay and comfort you. Tsukki definitely already did that. And then he would probably prevent you from getting scared again. Resisting the urge to groan loudly at the pathetic display in front of him he reached up and took off the headphones around his neck. You looked up at him with impossibly big eyes when he placed them over your ears. They were top of the line so excellent noise cancelling was a given. Stepping a little to his right, he was now standing directly in front of you - tall enough to block your view of the sky and of the next lightning flashing through the clouds.
Teary eyes aside you were actually not that horrible to look at, he thought. Even… even quite cute, especially with the way his headphones seemed to squish your chubby cheeks together a bit more. Plus there was the triceratops. Always a sign of good taste, really.
A honk behind him ripped Tsukki from his thoughts. Akiteru‘s beat-up car waited in front of the dingy bus stop, engine running.
In one swift motion, Tsukki collected his headphones again and with a curt nod (more towards the key chain than you) he hurried to the passenger side.
His brother offered a sort of happy frown when he closed the door.
“Shouldn‘t I give your friend a ride?“
“No.“
And with that, the brothers drove off, making way for the bus behind them.

Tomorrow
Pairing : Tsukishima x Reader
Tumblr media
"Kei !" he heard a scream behind him.
He sighed. He heard you run to him.
"What's wrong ?" he asked.
You had a wide smile on your face when you said :
"Nothing ! Can't I just talk to you ?"
He hummed but didn't really answer. He never did. It was almost as if you were talking to a statue. He had almost nothing to say to you. People thought the two of you were good friends, seeing that he never told you to leave. But it wasn't always enough for you. He could tell. He was too silent.
You were still talking about your day. He wanted to say something but it was like you couldn't stop talking. He didn't even know what he wanted to say. Just something, anything, actual words, coming out of his mouth for once. It was better than what he had been doing so far. Until now, you had guessed that he didn't hate you because he never pushed you away. But he didn't want you to think that you didn't hate him, he wanted you to know that he liked you. You were nice and funny, and you always had something interesting to say. But it wasn't like he could say just that, could he ?
The two of you sat on a bench.
"I have a cake, do you want some ?"
"No," he only answered.
He saw you pout. It was barely visible like you were trying to hide your disappointment. You quickly smiled at him. You were good at hiding your feelings. But not good enough.
"OK," he finally said. "Just a little."
You smiled. He took a small part in his hand. It was very small, but he truly wasn't hungry. He put the cake in his mouth.
"The things I'd do for Y/N," he thought.
He hated that he was weak for you. But when he saw your smile as you asked how the cake tasted, he didn't regret it. He was just waiting. Hoping you would confess because he couldn't do it first.
"Kei, is something wrong ?"
He shook his head, the cake still in his mouth.
He didn't have anything to say to you. He could tell you that he like and then what ? Ask you on a date ? What would he say ? How could he make you stay ?
He felt a finger on his cheek. He turned to you. You had a frown on your face.
"Something's wrong," you said.
He sighed. There was nothing he could hide from you. He knew that he bore an expressionless face most of the time. Yet, you could see right through him. There were only a few people who could do that. And among them, you were the only one...
"You don't wanna tell me ?"
He looked away. If he did, what would happen next ?
"It's fine if you don't want to. Maybe you'll find an answer to your problem tomorrow."
You had a big smile on your face. You were quietly eating your cake. You were rarely silent but right now, it felt right.
"Tomorrow," he said.
You looked at him with a frown.
"I'll tell you tomorrow."
He didn't know what would happen next. You could reject him or accept him, but it didn't really matter. It wasn't like it mattered anyway. The way you felt didn't change how he did. Nothing would.
"Ok then," you said. "Tomorrow."
Tumblr media
Hey ! I hope you had a great day and I hoped you liked it (even if it's a bit short). I wanted to post something today since it's been a while...

pairing // Tsukishima Kei x Reader
word count // 2.8k
tags // friends with benefits, pining, a little bit of angst, bit of dom/sub dynamic but very badly depicted, semi-public rooftop sex, use of petnames (princess), restraints (belt), edging, orgasm denial, overstimulation, multiple orgasms, dacryphilia, unprotected sex, creampie
Tumblr media
It’s ironic that we yearn for summer to come, yet when it finally arrives, it’s over in the blink of an eye. Perhaps good things aren’t meant to last long, perhaps that is exactly what makes them special.
And each summer spent with him was just that: long awaited, desired, special, yet awfully short lived.
Tsukishima works overseas, so he only ever comes back home around the end of June staying only until the end of August. It’s the only time he got off work, and he was more than happy to spend it back at home where his family and friends are. Where you are.
You weren’t dating or anything; you had been friends since highschool, but somehow through the years you ended up in this weird friends with benefits relationship that was in force only for the duration of these two short months. It’s fun and easy: no attachment, no feelings, and the sex is so good.
You find yourself excited and longing for him to come back home as soon as spring rolls around the corner. When the warm rays of sunshine on your skin remind you of his touch, and you count the days until he comes back. Summers with him are fun, colorful, different. Yet so short.
And once again, it’s the end of August—the last day of sunny weather and clear, starry nights. The final hours spent with him before he’s gone again.
You’re sitting on the rooftop, cold beer in hand, back pressed to his chest as his large hands wrap around your waist, his lips ever so gently brushing against your bare neck and shoulders.
“What are you thinking ‘bout?” His voice is so low and husky in your ear. He trails a single finger up the length of your arm, tapping your jaw lightly with it so you could look at him.
“About how at this time tomorrow, you won’t be here anymore…” You don’t mean to sound so needy or sad, but your voice cracks at the end and the feelings of uneasiness slip through. You avert your gaze back to the ground, quickly bringing the bottle of beer to your lips just so you can occupy yourself with something else. Just so you could play it off as not a big deal.
But Tsukishima knows you better than that. He cups your face and brings it close to his, nose brushing against yours in the seconds before his lips find yours, thumb gently tracing down your jaw. You can’t help but smile against his lips as you realize that this is a little gesture he always does when you feel anxious. And without failure, it always calms you down.
The taste of bitter beer mixes with the sweet taste of his tongue and you find it funny, thinking to yourself ah, how bittersweet. But the way he moves against you, the way his hands trail down your sides, sliding under your shirt… It distracts you from the fact he’s leaving soon. It fills your mind with a fog of pleasure, drowning out the tension and fear.
The night air is cool, yet his touch feels hot against your skin and before you can register it, he’s moving you to lay your back down on the concrete, his much larger body towering over yours. For a few seconds, he just looks into your eyes, and you struggle to read him. It’s funny how he can instantly tell the slightest shift in your mood apart, yet after so many years you still can’t read him, not even a little.
He brushes a few stray hairs away from your face and smiles down at you.
“You’re beautiful.”
It’s not the first time he’s said this, but it feels so different this time and you wonder why. His words feel like an inevitable end, like a final act of kindness of some sorts, yet his lips are trailing soft little kisses down your chest which pull you away from the thought. It takes Tsukishima no time to get you out of your tank top, hands following the shape of your hips and waist, sliding up to brush his thumb against your nipple.
His hands never leave your body, they hold you tightly as his tongue explores your breasts, eliciting a tiny whimper from you. His knee is right between your legs, so close to you, you just can’t help but lift your hips up a little so you can grind on his thigh. He’s barely started, but you’re already so needy, your fingers cradle through his blond locks and tug slightly when his hands get close to where you need him the most.
You watch as he takes his belt off, wrapping it around your wrists. It’s not tight, but it’s enough to keep you in place as he works his way down your body, lips kissing at the hem of your shorts, thumb pressing into your clothed pussy. You still can’t help but feel as if something feels a little off tonight, but the way his every touch lights your skin on fire doesn’t allow you to ponder too long over it.
It’s not long before all your clothes are discarded, and you’re laying completely naked under the stars while he’s still fully clothed, the only missing part of his outfit being the sweater you’re currently laying on, and the belt around your wrists. His hand runs down the middle of your chest and over your belly sliding down your core where his fingers brush against your slick folds.
“It’s still summer, people sleep with their windows open. You better keep quiet.” He smiles as he tells you this, a single digit pushing past your entrance at an excruciatingly slow pace. It’s a single finger, but it’s enough to take your breath away and make you mewl under his touch.
While he pumps his index finger in and out of your pussy, his thumb is softly circling your clit—not enough pressure to tighten the cord in your belly, but not soft enough to make the tension go away. Your walls pulsate against his finger, and your cunt drools, the quiet of the summer night filled with the obscene squelching noise.
“So fucking needy, look at you, so wet over a single finger. Does it feel good, princess?”
“Tsukki... Please, I need more…”
He doesn’t bother responding, simply chuckles and positions himself between your thighs, eyes swallowing up the view of your slick already dripping down onto his sweater. He keeps the slow torturous pace for what feels like forever, but he’s so close you can feel his hot breath on your pussy. The tiniest change of his motion, of his breathing, affects you and it makes you clench around him.
By the time tears of frustration start pooling in your eyes, he finally adds a second digit. It stretches you out pleasantly, and, quite frankly, two of his fingers are more than enough to drive you mad. Even with the additional finger, he doesn’t increase the pace—he keeps you right there, on the edge of insanity, marvelling at the way your body tenses, your thighs shake. Every spasm of your walls, every flutter of your eyelashes, every half-muffled moan of his name—it all belongs to him right now.
You’ve been begging for him to change the tempo, to speed up, but when he does you regret your words. His fingers curl inside you, fingertips grazing over your sweet spot, it’s faster now and the tension inside you builds up like a tidal wave, and just when it’s about to crash over you his fingers still.
He kisses your thighs, blowing hot puffs of air over your clit and giving it a soft kiss while he waits for you to calm down, just so he can do the same thing all over again.
“Am I not giving you what you want, princess?” You can’t even form the words, you just shake your head, fat tears rolling down your face as you struggle to keep your eyes on his. Another devilish smile and he leans down to lick one of your tears away.
“You know I like it when you cry for me.” And once again, even though it’s something he’s said to you before, it feels utterly different this time. You can’t quite put your finger on it, but the words leave a sour taste in your mouth and more tears well in your eyes.
“Wanna cum?” There’s a lilt to his voice, like he’s having fun, like he doesn’t already know how badly you need a release.
You nod frantically, please, please. His head dips between your thighs again and his mouth latches onto your clit, tongue working over your sensitive nub while his fingers finally pick up the pace.
When your orgasm comes it is violent. You forget to be quiet, you forget where you are, everything turns dark, and your body shakes with the force of your release. It fills your lungs and brain with pleasure that courses through your body like poison, and every subsequent stroke of his tongue over your clit is a jolt of electricity travelling up your spine.
“Stop, stop, Tsukki, too much, please,” you beg.
You try to wiggle away from him, but he’s much larger than you, stronger. His arms wrap around your thighs, and his hands press down on your belly, and you know you won’t be able to escape. His lips and tongue move relentlessly against your pussy, it’s sloppy and the sounds are obscene, mixing with his own grunts of pleasure. You steal a glance at him and you observe how his biceps flex when you try to move away, you see his gaze burning into yours, pupils blown wide with lust, and you almost see the desperation in his eyes. The pure unadulterated excitement of what’s to come.
A few more expert strokes of his tongue, and you’re coming undone for him again, pulling on the restraints around your wrists as the world turns black again. It’s not as violent as your first orgasm, but it lasts so much longer, like time stretches for the sole purpose of pleasure. Your chest is heaving as you try to calm yourself down, and your eyes are closed shut because everything just feels too much.
Even without opening your eyes, you can feel him shift above you, hands once again touching you softly, with care and admiration. You can feel the cool breeze on your skin contrasting with the hotness of his every touch. He wipes away the damp hairs from your forehead and places a gentle kiss there, holding it moments longer than the usual which makes you finally open your eyes.
There he is: on the black canvas of the night August sky, littered with stars that were the only witness of your time together. In this moment, the rest of the world fades away, and you find yourself entranced by the way the moon shines bright behind him, the light creating a halo over his head. Your eyes follow and trace the lines of his face—his sharp jawline, his neck, broad shoulders littered with tiny freckles. The scent of soap, aftershave, and sweat carries in the air, but it doesn’t repulse you. He smells like home.
You finally match his gaze, and he’s looking back at you as if he’s seeing you for the first time in his life: golden orbs peering back at you with astonishment, with desire, and perhaps a tinge of hope. His eyes don’t leave yours as he gulps rather nervously, licking his lips.
“I’m being relocated at work.”
It’s so quiet, you can hear the exact moment your heart stops beating. You can pinpoint to a millisecond the exact moment where your world shatters and the gears in your head go in full overdrive. What does this mean?
Is this why he’s been so weird tonight, why everything felt just slightly different? Perhaps he won’t be able to come home anymore for the summer, perhaps… this wasn’t the last time you’re with him this year. Perhaps, it’s simply the last time.
You don’t even realize there is a fresh set of tears rolling down your cheeks until his thumb brushes them away.
Time stands painfully still.
“I’m coming back home.”
The tiny gasp that escapes you is swallowed by his lips. He’s never kissed you like this before, with so much need and desperation. One of his hands is at the back of your head, fingers cradling through your hair as he holds you impossibly close and deepens the kiss even more, as if the tiniest gap between you will be too much. His other free hand is quickly undoing the belt around your wrists.
Finally, just as your lungs are about to collapse from the intensity of the kiss, he pulls away. You want to say something, anything, but the words get stuck in your throat and you’re left staring up at him with big doe eyes, lashes still wet from the tears.
“I don’t have to leave anymore. I don’t have to wait for summer to see you.”
He smiles, and his eyes shine like little suns in the dead of night. You place your hand on his cheek and trail it down his neck as if to make sure this is real, he is real.
“Tsukki—”
“Be mine.”
All the unspoken words, all the feelings bottled up inside you finally break free as your heart hammers against your ribcage. Now it’s your turn to hold him impossibly tight and close as you bury your face in the crook of his neck, whispering barely coherent sentences about how you’ve always been his. Most of the words get lost between sobs, but he knows, he understands and there is a blooming warmth inside his chest.
Somewhere between sobs you find his lips again, and everything feels different, warmer somehow. Even though it’s late into the night, you can see clearly. The mess of limbs and moans, his fingers tangled in your hair as you struggle to take him out of his clothes. It’s rushed, it’s chaos, but your heart feels like it’s soaring.
When you’re both finally naked under the moon, he places you in his lap, cock slipping between your slick folds as you rock your hips against his in a rhythm only you two could hear. The cicadas in the distance serenade you.
You’ve been together for years, you’ve had sex many times, yet it feels much more intense now. Every touch ignites a fire on your skin, every time his fat cock rubs against your clit you can practically see the gates of heaven.
He looks into your eyes as you finally begin to sink down on his cock, now wet and covered in your arousal, and you hold onto his shoulders for support. He’s big and thick and every vein and ripple on his cock makes your mind reel, until the tip of his cock finally bumps against your cervix and your mind stills.
He takes it slow, moving your hips to his desired rhythm, hands burning hot on your sides as he guides you and whispers in your ear how long he’s wanted this. How long he’s waited for this not to be just a summer fling, no strings attached. He praises you and repeats over and over again how fucking beautiful you are, how perfect. And while his face is hidden in your neck you can tell by the strain in his voice how much emotion and vulnerability he’s actually showing you right now.
You cup his face and force him to look at you as your hips pick up the speed, angling themselves as you bounce up and down on his cock. Tears are welling up in your eyes again but you smile at him.
“I love you, Tsukki.” And you can see it, the shift in his eyes, the way they mellow out and turn to golden honey, the way his feelings shine behind his irises, so vivid and beautiful, so intense.
You can feel the tension building up inside you, and it’s the next words he whispers to you that finally make it snap.
“I love you too.”
His hips move up urgently against yours, meeting you halfway as he thrusts inside you, completely losing himself to the feeling. The silence of the night is filled with the sound of skin on skin, the wet squelching of your cunt as he slams his cock inside you, pressing you close to himself but never breaking eye contact. There’s so much feeling in his eyes, so much promise.
You both cross the edge almost at the same time, your velvety walls spasming and pulsating around his cock which immediately sends him over the edge too, balls tightening and emptying themselves deep inside you. You can feel every twitch of his dick inside you and you close your eyes blissfully, pressing your forehead against his.
You listen to the sounds of your ragged breathing slowly coming back into rhythm as the cicadas continue their song, and you know…
Love like this is a promise for eternal summer.
