pauses, then says
you’re my best friend - bella and jacob, in the life they chose. together.
It took a long time, but eventually Bella realized she was better off with her life now. Sure, Edward had been great to her for that short time, but it wasn’t forever. She didn’t want to sign away her life for someone she had only known a few months. He was right to leave her.
She didn’t truly feel that way until one day in the middle of her spring break, going cliff diving with Jacob. She didn’t wish another person was there with her. The only voice she heard was Jacob’s calling up to her to come join him. It felt like freedom, joy without expectations. As she prepared to leap, she saw a whole life spread in front of her - dreams and ambitions, chosen family, the ability to grow and change and to be with someone safe, in every sense of the word. It wasn’t settling; it never was. It was home. She chose it, she chose him, wholeheartedly.
That didn’t mean the next few years were easy. Trauma has a way of sneaking around, of staying, of manifesting when you least expect it. Bella’s nightmares and Jacob’s panic attacks didn’t go away. They faded, grew less frequent over time. But still there. Healing is a nonlinear process, and they know they’ll probably never reach the end. But between each other, and their chosen families, a future to work towards, they’re good.
Bella decided against college. She knew it was expected; just what good, quiet, studious girls did. But she had grown to love Forks, love the lush trees, the constant sweater weather, the proximity to Charlie, to Jacob, to everyone that welcomed her and saved her when they didn’t have to. She isn’t ready to leave that behind just yet. She’s picking up shifts at the diner, finally accepting Cora’s offer to join her. Except she’s chosen the kitchen. The shifts are long and she barely has time to think between orders, but it’s good for her. And the boys never mind the leftovers and slightly out of date food she brings home.
Jacob, long fed up with traditional school, and with no idea how to go back, signs up for his GED. Billy and Bella help him with flashcards at the kitchen table, textbooks at the ocean, math over motorcycles and book discussions during hikes. When his results come in the mail, a “congratulations” and “we are pleased to inform you” right at the top, Bella doesn’t bother to act surprised or hide her pride. Jacob deserves it. He is amazing, and she’s tired of pretending she doesn’t know that.
Bella slides right in, a puzzle piece just waiting for the right spot, all her breaks and bruises and jagged edges accepted, taken at face value. She knew she had once found solace in La Push, but now she found a home. She began to spend more time there, crashing on Rachel’s bed more often than not, then waking up to cook breakfast with Jacob. More of her stuff began to materialize there until the room had become hers.
She spent time with Billy, helped take care of the house, laughed at the group’s adventures, went to and hosted gatherings with all their neighbors, baked and cooked with Emily for the pack. She supposed they were both wolf girls now. Thinking of the time she had originally made the joke to Emily used to hurt, to break open the hole in her chest. Now it was just an unpleasant reminder of choices she had almost made,  and she couldn’t be more grateful for the change.
Jacob, for once, wasn’t in any rush. He had been forced to grow up quickly, to survive the loss of his mother, learn how to help his father, his sisters leaving, forced into a protector role he didn’t ask for. But now, life could go at its own pace. He wasn’t on anyone’s schedule but his own. It was safe, and freeing, and, most of all, his choice.
Their life was simple, easy. Soft blankets slung over the couch, a neverending stack of movies to watch together, frequent picnics to the beach and talking on that one piece of driftwood, a home cluttered with photos and games and tools, cozy and comfortable.
Bella had always loved the warmth, the feel of the sun on her skin. But she made her home in the woods, where it rained more often than not and her collection of sweatshirts was somehow still growing. But it was a home she chose, with a warmth, sunshine personified that chose her.

📓 Leah and Seth for the headcanon prompts
They may have lived in the same house, but everyone that knew the Clearwaters knew the children couldn’t be more different. Seth, especially as a child, was quiet and shy, while Leah was more outgoing, even as she kept to her circle of friends. Leah was athletic, always moving, but Seth was happiest on the couch with a book. And while the start of a new school year was Seth’s favorite time of year, it was Leah’s least.
Not that Leah didn’t like school, per say. Or she was indifferent to it. She liked seeing her friends, and the start of new basketball and track seasons. That’s what she looked forward to. But sitting in a classroom, listening to a teacher drone on, homework, tests? That she wasn’t a fan of.
Seth couldn’t fully, honestly say he liked homework and tests, but he loved the act of learning. He always had, ever since he was little. He always asked for books for birthdays and Christmases, and they usually were some type of educational book - he had nearly every single Fact Tracker book from the Magic Treehouse series. So reading and discovering new things to learn about? That he could get behind.
The Clearwaters were certainly a family of traditions, and the start of school season was no exception. Summers were spent with trips to the beach, day-long adventures down the coast, going out fishing on weekend mornings and spending the whole day by the water. It was only natural they were all a little sad when the days started getting just noticeably colder and the “welcome back” signs popped up in schools and in front of notebook and pencil displays.
Their schedules were always ready exactly a week before the first day, listing the order of their classes and the supplies they would need. Not that it changed much year to year. But on Schedule Pickup Day, Harry would take a half day from work, coming home just before lunch. He’d take both kids out to eat, then to pick up their schedules. After that all-important paper was safely secured, it was out to the local shops to pick up supplies. Truthfully, they never needed much. Most everything from the previous years was still good. Mostly it was an excuse to spend just a little more time together before the hectic schedule of the school year kicked in.
The first day Sue had off in her varied nursing schedule, it was her turn to take the kids out. She’d drag them out of bed early, refusing to let them waste the whole day in it. All in the name of getting them ready for an early school schedule, she’d argue. Working together, they would create a full breakfast spread: bacon, eggs, pancakes, complete with syrups and fruits, finishing just in time for Harry to eat with them before he had to go to work. After eating (and cleaning up, of course), they’d go off in search of new school clothes and anything they might need for the upcoming school year.
The night before school started was the same favorite tradition of the town: a bonfire on the beach. Everyone would be starting school the next morning, so it was time for one last night of summer fun. As always, everyone would come loaded down with food to share. Someone would bring a boombox, or a guitar, leading to dancing and singing along. Maybe someone would find time for storytelling, or maybe they would just talk and joke the night away. However it would go, inevitably everyone would be a little tired the next day. But no one would say it wasn’t worth it.

stitches: accident headcanons for the pack
Life in the wolf pack could be chaotic at times. Teenagers tended to think they were indestructible; it was no difference when the teenagers in question virtually were. They could get hurt, but even serious injuries healed in a fraction of the time. They could constantly be found testing their abilities, hanging out in groups, doing increasingly ridiculous things to learn just how much they were capable of.
They started with cliff diving. It was something most kids on the reservation did anyway, so it would be a safe test of their abilities. If normal kids didn’t get hurt, who’s to say they would? They jumped from the lower ledge a few times, but they quickly became bored with it. There was no challenge, no time to enjoy the feeling of flying through the air before landing in the water.
So they started leaping off the higher cliff, slowly moving up until they were on the tallest cliff. It was a long way down, and it was exactly what they wanted. They would laugh and joke with each other at the top, each daring the others to try different tricks on the way down. Contests for who could make the biggest splash, return to shore the fastest, make the most flips on the way down, even scream the loudest were rampant. Sometimes two or more would jump off at the same time and they’d see who could hit the water the fastest. They were bad at keeping track of who won, but it didn’t really matter. Each individual would claim they had won anyway. They were having fun together and that was all that mattered.
It was always a bit more dangerous when they’d go down together. They’d tend to be so close that it was all too easy to accidentally bump into each other on the way down. This could end with some big bruises, a sore leg or arm, or other small injuries that were practically healed before they were even noticed. The boys would just shrug it off. What were a few small injuries when you were having fun?
The worst could occur when swimming back from wherever they had landed in the water. If they weren’t careful, or weren’t paying enough attention, they could risk getting hit or cut by the rocks. These would heal quickly too, but it was a pain trying to swim back with a big cut or something broken. A few times they would haul themselves out of the water, waiting to heal before they swam back. Doing this always earned the committer a few extra teasing jokes before they jumped off again.
Other times, they had to make circuits around the tribe’s land to check for errant vampires. More often than not, there were none they didn’t know, so they had to find other ways to entertain themselves while patrolling. They mostly raced against each other, seeing who could complete their route the fastest or the most times in a set length of time. These could get increasingly competitive, with the wolves running as fast as they could to beat their opponent. Again, they rarely actually kept track of who won.
They could easily be moving so fast and be so into the race that they weren’t very good at noticing their surroundings, especially towards the end. This could lead to them crashing into trees or rocks in the forest. This often caused more damage to the trees, but it at least slowed them down enough. It generally led to Sam asking them to please focus on the task at hand. Sometimes they listened. Sometimes they talked him into racing with them. Somehow he always won.
They got together a lot, both wolf and human form. It didn’t really matter what they did, they were just really excited to be together a sa group as much as they could. Sam held meetings at his house at least weekly, which would go quickly before the night dissolved into talk and laughter with plenty of food split between them. It wouldn’t be long before they would spill out of the house, laying outside, sitting by a bonfire, or running around together. Races would happen now too, the same as in wolf form but without the bandages. Emily had to keep a first aid kit handy, because even fast-healing injuries might need a quick band-aid or wrap before they ran off to do something else chaotic.
When in wolf form, they liked to practice fighting. It wasn’t exactly like fighting a vampire, but it helped keep their skills strong. This was easily the activity that led to the most injuries, but none of them minded. They had too much fun, and none wanted to hold back. They’d fight until one tapped out, leaving the other the winner. Scrapes and bruises would again heal quickly but it was never too fun to have a battle injury.
The worst part of healing fast is that it never left scars. They all agreed that “I fought a wolf and won” would be a great story to tell.

#20. things you said that I wasn’t meant to hear for Emmett & Rosalie?
Emmett certainly wasn’t a serious person, and rarely had to ask for advice. So Carlisle was confused yet grateful when Emmett asked if they could go on a hunt together. It was the first time he had seen the younger, stronger vampire look nervous.
They ran through the woods, heading to one of their favorite spots. It was close, but far enough that they could get a good run in. Their trip was quiet, as Emmett couldn’t figure out where to begin and Carlisle was letting him gather his thoughts before beginning.
“I have a question,” Emmett finally said. They had slowed to a walk, looking for a suitable place to hide for prey.
“I hopefully have an answer. What’s on your mind?” He stopped when Emmett did, the latter squatting against a tree. Carlisle knelt next to him, both men concealed by a large boulder and plants tangled in the tree’s roots.
“How, um… you and Esme.” He took a deep breath. It wasn’t necessary, but helped calm his nerves. “How did you start… start dating?”
Carlisle let out a small chuckle, a twinkle in his eye. “Oh, it took us a while. Your mother had, well, she needed time, and I wanted to give her the space she needed. But I loved her from the moment I saw her, and I fell more daily. Edward told me later he wanted to explode; we both had such strong feelings and refused to act. We went on a walk one day and Esme just took my hand. It felt different, somehow. We escalated from there.”
“Ma made the first move? Nice!” Emmett said with a low whistle.
Carlisle rolled his eyes, but didn’t fight his fond smile. “Yes, yes she did. Why do you ask? Has someone caught your eye? It might be… risky, I suppose, to date someone at the school. But if you feel confident, we can offer support. Alice can keep an eye-”
“No, it’s not like that,” Emmett interrupted, looking away.
“Oh. Well, there must be someone? I presume these nerves are not due to the deer?”
Emmett grinned awkwardly, then stood. He paced between the trees as Carlisle watched. Eventually, he stood and placed a hand on his son’s shoulders. Emmett stopped and took a deep breath. “I think I’m in love with Rosalie,” Emmett said. “Wait, no. I know I’m in love with her,” he corrected.
Carlisle grinned widely. “I thought I noticed you two growing closer.” He put his arms around Emmett’s shoulder and they began to walk back to the house, their hunting trip forgotten. “Do you think she feels the same for you?”
“I don’t know.” Emmett shrugged.
“Do you have experience from your human life? I haven’t heard you talk much about it.”
“It’s over now. A little, I think? I definitely did more than my fair share of flirting. But nothing serious. Nothing… real.”
Carlisle smiled. “I think you should tell her, son. Eternity is a long time to go with regrets.”
Emmett stopped, they were pretty close to the house by now. “What if she says no?”
“It’ll hurt. But what if she says yes?”
Emmett’s chuckle was nervous. “I haven’t thought that far ahead. I can’t really get past how much I care for Rose.”
“There’s value in letting people know that even if it doesn’t end how you want.” He checked his watch. “I’m sorry to cut this talk short, but I’m afraid I must get ready for my shift. Are you alright?”
“I think so. For now, anyway. Thanks for the advice.”
“Anytime, Emmett.” Carlisle said as he jogged towards the house. Emmett smiled in response, then began walking along the perimeter of their yard, muttering under his breath, trying to determine the right words to say.
Rosalie stood up from where she had been helping Esme in her garden. They couldn’t have noticed how close she was. The far end of the garden was right alongside the forest but rarely visited by anyone other than Esme. their voices had been just loud enough.
Maybe Esme wouldn’t be the only one to make the first move.

when writing “beautifully happy & painless romantic,” one of my favorite parts was imagining where the members of the pack were in their lives. as it wasn’t the focus of the fic, i didn’t dive too much into the details. but i do what i want and really love thinking about it (plus i’m always down for more pack content) so i’m beginning to write longer pieces focusing on each of the members. here’s leah’s.
Leah was the first one to leave La Push with no intentions to come back for any significant length of time. Seth, Sue - of course she would visit them. And some of the guys - Paul, Quil, Embry, even Jacob - she had grown close with and knew she would miss. But even the love she finally found couldn’t erase the memories in every nook and cranny of La Push. She was haunted by the losses, by the betrayals, all the hurt and anger that had built up for years. Even if the wounds no longer hurt, the reminders did. She had to move on, in every sense of the phrase.
After a year working at the library, and picking up shifts at the diner, she had enough saved to make it a few months on her own. Some quick packing skill, and one bus ticket later, she was in Seattle. She had found a small apartment in an old, neglected part of town, but cheap rent was cheap rent and she didn’t care to be picky.
After some time to settle in, and plenty of trips to thrift shops to furnish her apartment and fill her closet, she began to look for work. Something to fill her days, and keep her bank account a positive number. Her diner experience made it easy to get some serving jobs. They weren’t her favorite, but she was good at it.
With an income secured, Leah knew it was time to branch out further. She loved her life, but couldn’t deny she felt a little lonely. She joined a women’s running group hosted by a local athletic store, and found she fit right in. her last years at home, she had felt so angry, so closed off. And she had every right to be, but it was nice to find herself opening up, joking and laughing with people like she used to before… everything.
The running group led her to a local gym, where some of them worked and all of them worked out at. While there one day dropping off something for a friend, she saw sign-ups for yoga classes. She laughed, remembering telling Jacob she might pick it up to help with her anger. She didn’t need that aspect of it anymore, but signed up nonetheless. One thing led to another, and she found she loved it so much that she applied to be an instructor.
A few months later, all the teachers at the gym were asked to take part in a promotional photoshoot. Leah went along with it, expecting some free food and the ability to dick around with her friends. Until the photographer showed up, a girl Leah vaguely recognised, and she got the feeling her life was about to change. For the better, this time.
Angela became her friend quickly. They had pretty much nothing in common, but that only meant they had plenty to talk about. Before too long, Leah knew she wanted Angela in her life forever, however she would have her. Luckily, (and obviously to anyone who had been watching them since they had met) Angela felt the same. A few more weeks went by, and both their leases were almost up, leading to them looking for a place together. Like they expected, what they found was small, but they made the place cozy and theirs.
For the first time since her early teenage years, Leah felt settled. She loved the work she did, and the people she did it with. She had cats to cuddle and dogs to walk, and a partner she felt safe with. Visits home felt like a gift, not an obligation. La Push hadn’t been her home for a long time, but the people still were. Her biological and chosen families kept her as close as they could, but she finally had room to breathe.
She never wanted to go far.

The Violet Hour - Sea Wolf
Bella had noticed everything about her - her short, wild hair and how soft it must be; her lithe steps; her fingers curled around a pencil; her musical laughter; her careful avoidance of food; her stories of contradictions; how she never wore the same outfit twice. All the little things she’s noticed over the weeks and months, all stored away in her head. Just for her. She’d never admit it.
But as she grows closer to Alice, learns things for just her to know, it’s harder to keep that distance. Lost in the light, tangled in the dark. Just out of reach.
send me a song title (include artist please) and i’ll write a summary of a twilight fanfic based on the song

when i was crying
for Harry/Sue
“I, for one, am ready for bed,” Harry said, turning off the overhead light and jumping straight into bed. Sue’s reading lamp stayed on, covering the room in a soft glow in contrast to the storm outside. He leaned over to kiss her on the cheek, drawing a faint smile from her.
“Long day?” Sue asked, resting her head on his shoulder, keeping her eyes on her book.
“Like you wouldn’t believe,” he said with a laugh. They sat like that for a moment, enjoying the silence and the other’s company. Until Harry heard a small sniffle.
“Sue? Darling, what’s wrong?” He turned to look at her, alarmed by the tears he saw. She had never been one to cry easily, but pregnancy seemed to loosen her tear ducts quite a bit. Usually it was over something small they could laugh about later (and add to their running list) but this didn’t seem small.
She didn’t answer at first, working through her thoughts to figure out how to best voice them. Harry waited patiently, worried but knowing this time was necessary for her. He took her hand and gently rubbed circles on her wrist with his thumb, knowing she found the gesture soothing.
“Sarah and I went into Port Angeles today to do some shopping. You know, some stuff for the babies. And it just… it hit me. I have no idea what I’m doing or what we need to get or what this stuff even is! But like… I’m a nurse. I’m around people and families and I take care of them every day. But when it comes to our own kid-” Sue trailed off, her tears falling freely now. Her book had fallen to the floor by now, and, with her free hand, she went to rub her stomach.
Harry gave her hand a squeeze, and kissed her forehead. He climbed out of bed and left the room, quickly coming back with a box of tissues and the little trash can from their bathroom. Sue took the box gratefully, and started blowing her nose and wiping her face. Harry set the trash can by her side of the bed, and picked up her book to set it on her nightstand. Then he climbed back into bed and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.
“My love, thank you for telling me. I’m sorry you’ve been struggling like this.”
Sue grumbled, burying her face in his chest. “And you?”
“Honestly? Night really.”
“Really?” Sue looked up at him in surprise. “How? I mean, I’m glad you’re not! But…” she trailed off.
Harry chuckled, placing another kiss to her forehead. “Not sure. Hasn’t set in yet? Maybe because it’s you and me.” He laughed when Sue gave him a look. “What? I think we can handle anything.”
“We’ve never handled this.”
“True. But we’ve got each other, and Sarah and Billy, and your aunt, my siblings. The Littleseas and Atearas, and Camerons. All our friends. No one is alone around here.”
Sue smiled, resting her head on his shoulder again. Harry took the opportunity to again take her hand, playing with her fingers.
“How are you so good at talking me down?” she asked after a moment.
“Years of practice,” he said without missing a beat.
“Hey!” But there was laughter in her voice as she protested.
“Because I know you, and because I love you.”
“That’s better!” She pulled out of his embrace and turned her lamp off, and both laid down. “Oh, and I love you too,” she added, smiling when she heard his laugh in the dark room.

beautifully happy & painlessly romantic - jacob black
when writing “beautifully happy & painless romantic,” one of my favorite parts was imagining where the members of the pack were in their lives. as it wasn’t the focus of the fic, i didn’t dive too much into the details. but i do what i want and really love thinking about it (plus i’m always down for more pack content) so i’m beginning to write longer pieces focusing on each of the members. here’s jacob’s.
The days after that leech dragged Bella off to Italy were far worse than Jacob ever let on. He didn’t even remember talking to Charlie, too dazed to really process what had happened. He woke up in his bed the next morning, unsure how Billy tried to talk to him, to make sense of Charlie’s frantic phone call or Bella’s disappearance. It didn’t seem real; she had been a ray of light on a dark day, and even that was snuffed out and stolen. Jacob was barely out of the house before he phased.
The years passed and Jacob settled into some kind of routine. He ignored Bella’s calls until she gave up. He made breakfast for himself and Billy every morning, put on a happy face every time his sisters visited. The Cullens left, but their memory scared away other vampires, allowing the packs to relax. He was so grateful to not have to phase anymore. His days were full of walks alone, of hanging with Quil and Embry, finally getting his GED and taking a few college courses until he realized it wasn’t for him. Instead he kept working on cars, doing simple fixes and routine maintenance until he was confident to do more.
The place he grew up in, the people he grew up with, were all changing and Jacob couldn’t be more grateful. He had always loved his home and his people, but it started to feel more like his than it had in a long time. Some went to college and started careers, some moved away but always came back to visit, some fell in love, some went on adventures they had previously only dreamed of. It could be messy and hard but also so, so beautiful.
Jacob had built one hell of a life for himself when Jenna came along. He owned a garage with Quil and Embry and business was going well. Billy was older now, and Jacob helped as much as he could. They had dinners in and nights out with friends and a life that felt full. But when Emily introduced him to her classmate Jenna with a “I think you’ll get along” and a wink, the last puzzle piece clicked into place.
He normally hated to admit it when Emily was right, but he couldn’t hide his smile now, and didn’t even care too. Jenna was brilliant, creative, funny, and good with her hands. They dated for a few months, traveling back and forth between reservations for weekend trips. After one too many mornings full of excuses not to go home, she realized she was already there and moved into Jacob’s childhood home. She got a job with a local restaurant as their head chef, and transformed their menu. They continued to date, not seeing a rush to go further. They were happy as is, and had all the time in the world.
Until a test revealed a little pink line and they prepared to become a family in every sense of the word. Their wedding was small; on the beach with a few close friends and Billy between them. A predictable storm chased them inside for the reception, all crowded around a cake Emily made and sharing stories and jokes from the years past, and hopes for the future.
Their son was born a few months later, with a daughter two years after that. Jacob took to being a dad with his whole heart; watching old movies with them while Jenna fixed up the house, taking them to the beach and on hiking trips on the weekends, showing them around the shop when he deemed them old enough to be safe. He had had a good role model, after all, and loved telling his kids stories just like their grandfather had.
Sometimes he’d think back to those nights as a teenager, around a bonfire with the people he loved most in the world. He didn’t picture his life would turn out like this. But damn was he happy it had.

#37. things you said through someone else for Bella & Jacob?
Dear Jacob, I’m sorry I left you like that. I know it was awful timing, and Charlie had so many questions you couldn’t answer, and I put you all in a nightmare of a situation. I’m so, so sorry. I can’t say it enough. But he just needed me, Jake, and I need him. No matter what, I couldn’t let him go through with it. You have to understand that. It wasn’t fair to him. Call me. Please. Bella
From Bella, to Charlie, to Billy, finally to Jacob. “Cullens just can’t leave well enough alone, huh?” Billy said, handing the unfolded and read note to his son. Jacob just left, crumbling the note in his fist before shoving it in his back pocket.
Dear Jacob, Jacob, please. I want need you in my life. I can’t choose between you two; you’re my best friend. I’ll do anything. You win the age battle, for good. You can have my bike. I’ll cook all the lasagna you want, whenever you want. Anything you need. Please. I’m so, so, so sorry. Please give me another chance. You said you wouldn’t give up on me. I won’t give up on us. Please. Bella.
The same chain, daughter to father to friend to son. “Maybe you should just give him some time, Bells. Let him lick his wounds,” Charlie tried to persuade her. She just asked again, a tone of desperation leaking into her voice. He had to agree, frightened of that familiar, haunted look in her eye. Not again.
Dear Jacob, It’s been four months since that night. If I had known how it would hurt you… All I can do now is apologize and pray you accept. What else can I do to make it right? Please, Jake. I can’t do it alone. Bella
Jacob took it straight from Charlie that night, doing his best to avoid the man’s gaze. “Jacob, I’m sorry she keeps doing this, and that I’m enabling her. I don’t really fully know what happened, but-”
“You’re right, Chief Swan. You don’t know what happened. Stay out of it,” Jacob interrupted. He was tired of her father doing her dirty work for her.
“Jacob!” Billy chastised.
“It’s okay, Billy. He’s right. I’m sorry.”
Dear Bella, If you had known how it would’ve hurt me, you still would have done it. It’s him every time, isn’t it? I’ll choose myself. Jacob
In reverse this time, back through the line to Bella. Charlie tried to avoid giving it, but it wasn’t his hurt to spare. And Bella had already seen the paper; recognized the scrawling handwriting.
“I’m sorry, Bells. I wish it didn’t have to be this way,” he said as he watched the eagerness on her face fade to a protective numbness. She read the words over and over, fighting for a way to deny them, a way to get him back. She hated when he was right.
“Me too, Dad. Me too.”

whispered in my ear
for Alice/Bella
“You know you’re going to have to dance with me at some point, right?” Alice said, coming back to their table and sliding into her seat next to Bella.
“I told you I still don’t like dancing, babe. I am perfectly content to sit here with you, or watch you dance with everyone else…”
“So you like to watch?” Alice interrupted, raising her eyebrow.
Bella just glared at her. “Anyway, we can hit up the photobooth or keep talking. I’m perfectly fine here.”
“Really? You’re just going to sit here the whole time?” Alice rested her hand on Bella’s knee.
“No. I’ll probably sit over there for a bit.” Bella pointed across the field of tables to where the Denalis had been sitting. None of them were currently at the table, however. “I haven’t seen Tanya in ages.”
“We all hung out last night.” Alice squeezed her knee.
“Alice.”
”Bella.”
“You won’t give up, will you?” Bella said, leaning into Alice.
“It’s not really in my nature,” Alice challenged, leaning in for a kiss. She left their foreheads together. “Rose will be mad if you just sit here all night.”
Bella pulled back. “Please, she’s probably already mad that I’m even here,” she said with a scoff.
Alice sighed and rolled her eyes. “Fine. Emmett will be mad if you don’t do anything.”
“He hasn’t looked anywhere but Rosalie long enough to notice my dancing. Or lack thereof.”
“Please, Bella?” Alice slid her arm around Bella’s waist and pulled her as close as the chairs would allow.
“What’s in it for me?” She placed her hand on Alice’s knee, sliding it up ever so slightly.
Alice put her other hand on Bella’s neck and leaned closer. “Wouldn’t you like to find out?” she whispered in her ear, softly biting her lobe to punctuate her statement. She stood up, pulling Bella with her, then dropped her hand and walked away.
“Really, babe?” Bella said before she could leave.
“What?” Alice asked innocently.
“You drive a hard bargain.” Bella closed the distance between them and wrapped her arms around Alice’s waist.
“I know what I want.” Alice put both her arms around Bella’s neck. “Is this really so bad?”
“I guess anything’s okay, as long as it’s with you.” They began to sway in place, right beside the table. The song ended before either of them knew it.
“Are you gonna make me go to the actual dance floor now?” Bella asked, stopping their movement but not taking her hands off Alice.
Alice laughed. “Can I really make you do anything?”
“Yes,” Bella answered too quickly.
“Then I guess there’s your answer.” Alice pulled out of Bella’s grasp, took her hand, and pulled her to the dance floor.
“You better make this up to me,” Bella muttered once Alice had them at the center.
“We’ll see about that,” Alice said, a mischievous glint in her eye.

Hi! Can I get a mood board or headcanon for the Charlie/Billy/Harry friendship?
bold of you to assume i would pick!! moodboard here.
Billy and Harry had been best friends since they were little. Same schools, same parties, same community events; barely a day went by where they didn’t see each other. Both boys were talkative, loud, and full of jokes. As soon as they were old enough, both applied to work pretty much anywhere that would hire them. Finally both were offered  a job at the Forks grocery store. It was an easy trip by bus from school, and gave them plenty of spending money to help their families and for their own shenanigans. And that’s where they met Charlie.
He had already been there a year, and was assigned to be their trainer. He was quiet, to the point. A good teacher, and Harry and Billy learned the job fast. As they worked more shifts together, they began to grow closer. Charlie was still quiet, but a good listener with a quick wit that worked well with theirs. It wasn’t long before their manager learned scheduling two of them to work together was dangerous, and all three was downright impossible. They were really good at the job and customers loved them, but they could easily get off track. Charlie did his best to reign them in if he was there, but they quickly learned the art of getting him distracted, too.
Outside of work, they found plenty of ways to hang out. Charlie was a year ahead in school, working hard to graduate early. He helped his friends with their homework, taking the bus from Forks High School into La Push whenever they didn’t have work or other obligations. Harry was the first of the three to get his driver’s license, which made it easier for them to hang out. He had his father’s old car, which he fixed up just to run.
Charlie didn’t like being home much, so Harry often took him and Billy out driving. Their paychecks went to gas and shared snacks while they traveled around Forks, finding driving paths along the woods, and stopping at the beach in La Push. there they would look out at the water, talk, split a 6-pack, and joke around.
Once they all graduated high school, they had to separate. Billy was staying in town, and Harry and Charlie went off to different colleges. Staying friends with the distance was hard, but they made it work. They tried sending letters, although Harry was the only one that was good at writing them in a timely manner. Calling was better, and it was easier to catch up that way, but it felt like they just missed each other more often than not.
Each summer break was just like old times. Both men would be back from college, and would rejoin Billy in stocking shelves at the grocery store. He would fill them in on everything they had missed happening in the town, while Charlie and Harry had plenty of stories to share from their years.
One year, on what would’ve been their third and final summer break, Charlie revealed he had to drop out of school. His parents’ health was getting worse, and he had to stay home to take care of them. In between shifts, they helped Charlie as best they could, and did their best to get him out of the house when time allowed. He was quieter now, but sometimes words don’t need to be said.  Billy and Charlie stayed close over the year; helping each other out when needed, and hanging out over baseball games, fishing, and work.
Before they knew it, the year had ended and Harry came home after graduating. He had missed his home a little too much to put permanent roots anywhere else. His favorite people were glad to see him back, and they had missed him too. They were adults now, and with that came more responsibilities - careers, families, losses, partners and kids - but through it all, they had each other.

For Leah/Rosalie
For most of them, working with the Cullens instead of against them was weird at best. Some of them - Seth, Quil - found it easy to get along once they were fighting side-by-side instead of with each other. Many of the Cullens tried to be welcoming, knowing it was their fault. Carlisle helped to plan, Esme cooked for them, Emmett trained to fight alone and with them. Bella’s old friendships were still there, albeit a bit more strained. Rosalie was the one who stayed out of the way, avoiding the wolves and her family, mad she was again in danger because of the stupid choices of others.
Leah was stuck, avoiding one pack she didn’t want to be a part of with the forced comfort of another. She spent her limited free time running as a wolf, phasing back for the all too rare but increasingly necessary silence. But she wasn’t always alone as she thought.
Rosalie couldn’t stand being in the area much, either. She didn’t like all of the newcomers, all the talks of trainings and battles and strategies and escape plans. It felt like there wasn’t any more room for her left in the house. So she’d run, disguising it as scouting missions if anyone cared to ask. More often than not, she found herself following the little grey wolf. It didn’t make sense. She wanted to be alone, and she was sure Leah did too. But for whatever reason, she was drawn to her.
“So is there a reason you’re always following me?” Leah called after wading into the river. Rosalie had just been about to run back home when the voice stopped her.
“Sorry!” Rosalie sighed, then walked to the river. She sat on the edge and tucked her feet into the water. “I thought I was being subtle.”
Leah snorted. “Your lot was never good at subtlety. I’m surprised the whole town isn’t after you with pitchforks by now.”
“Fat lot of good that would do them.” Rosalie’s smile was brief.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
“Oh. Yeah, um. I guess I was just hoping for a place to be alone…”
“Isn’t the point of being alone to actually be alone?”
“I can’t answer your question if you keep interrupting me.” When Leah shrugged but didn’t say anything, Rosalie continued. “I mean, you’re right. I just don’t really know where to go around here. And you seem to be the only one who hates this as much as I do, so…”
“Yeah. You’ve never been my favorite kind of… people.”
Rosalie winced. “Not without reason,” she admitted.
Leah nodded. “You seem cool, though. For a vamp, anyway.”
“Low bar.”
Leah laughed at that. “At least you clear it.”
“I do my best.”
“Well. Since you’re already here, invading my alone time. This section of the river is a good place to be. Patrols don’t come out here this far. That way, there’s a small break in the trees. Right at the bottom of that cliff is a cave. All good places to be alone, if you’re looking for actual alone time. I’m very good at finding brooding spots.”
“Can I stay here? I mean, since I’ve already ruined the alone-ness of it…”
Leah sighed, but she smiled after. “If you insist.”

Satellite Heart - Anya Marina
After Victoria ran away, after she abandoned James and earned her freedom, she ran into the wind. Everyone knew she was still out there, but no one heard from her. There were no tales of the woman with a head and heart of fire.
Bella was left alone too, granted freedom she didn’t want from a future she craved. She can’t stop thinking of that world; it wasn’t safe for her but a small part of her knows she belongs there. Even if it was wrong.
Maybe they’ve spun out, unable to eat or rest, or survive on their own. This woman is dangerous for her. But some things are worth getting lost for.
send me a song title (include artist please) and i’ll write a summary of a twilight fanfic based on the song

Elements of Us: Water
Benjamin and Jacob look for something special during a hike
They walked along through the woods, creating their own trail as they carefully stepped over roots, stones, and growing plants. It was quiet; only the sound of the light rain through the trees and the occasional skittering of small animals could be heard.
“Are you sure this is the right way?” Benjamin asked, squeezing Jacob’s hand.
“Nope!” Jacob said cheerily. He paused when he felt Benjamin tug on his hand. He looked back, realizing he had stopped walking. “Is there a problem?”
Benjamin sighed. “ Babe. You told me you knew where we were going.”
“I may have exaggerated a little.”
“Dude!”
“What?” Jacob walked to Benjamin and wrapped his arms around his waist. Benjamin kept his arms crossed. “You got somewhere else to be? A bedtime to keep? Hot dinner date?” He laughed and kissed Benjamin’s forehead.

“You are incredibly irritating.”
“That’s been established. And?”
“Yeah, yeah. And I love you. Shut up.” He quickly stretched on his tiptoes to kiss Jacob. “Can we get going again? Apparently we have a while to go.”
“You’re the one that made us stop.” Jacob shrugged and let go of Benjamin. He turned and began walking along their makeshift path again.
Benjamin rolled his eyes, but quickly followed suit. They walked in silence for a few more minutes, studying their surroundings. Benjamin strained for any sound or smell that would hint they were near their destination, but didn’t discover much. Jacob seemed to slow ahead of him, looking more carefully through the woods ahead.
“We’re lost, aren’t we?” Benjamin asked when Jacob had all but stopped. “Not lost,” Jacob scoffed. “Just turned around.”
“So lost, but said in a way to make one feel better about their predicament?”
Jacob turned to glare at him. “I know where we are. More or less. I’ve patrolled this area plenty.”
“Sure, sure. And yet-”
“Shh,” Jacob said, looking to his right and studying the area. “Wait.” He darted away. Benjamin debated following him, but stayed right where he was. He sighed, waiting for his boyfriend to come back, or at least tell him what was going on.
“Benji!” Jacob called after a few very long minutes. His voice sounded much further than Benjamin had expected him to be. “Come here! I found it!”
Benjamin grinned, then ran off in the direction Jacob had gone. The path Jacob had made was mostly straight, and he followed it with ease. As he got close, he realized what Jacob had been leading him to. He could smell the different plants, feel the slight drop in temperature, and hear the water rushing down. He picked up the pace, breaking into a run the closer he got.
Eventually, he ran into a small clearing. It was mostly surrounded by trees, but the far side was a cliff with a waterfall coming down the side. The waterfall splashed into a large pool that took up most of the space. The rest of the space was grassy, with occasional spots of pink, purple, yellow, and white wildflowers dotting the bright green. Jacob stood a few yards away, leaning against one of the trees lining the space.
“Told you I knew where we were going,” he said with a wink.
“Did you?” Benjamin asked, bounding over to him. “Or did you just get lucky?”
Jacob laughed. “Both? I knew I saw it on a patrol around here. The exact location was fuzzy.”
“Do you spend all your patrol times looking for romantic date spots to take your boyfriend to?” He took Jacob’s hand.
“Not all of them.” Jacob shrugged. “Sometimes I think about dinner.”
Benjamin rolled his eyes. “How could I forget? Come on. You didn’t drag me all the way out here to flirt against a tree.” He tugged on Jacob’s hand and ran with him to the edge of the pool. He hesitated for a moment, then ran into the water, Jacob right behind him. They swam until they were behind the waterfall, and rested against the stones at the edge.
“This is pretty cool, right?” Jacob said, watching the patterns created by the falling water.
“Yes, you picked well.”
“I did,” Jacob said, wrapping his arm around Benjamin’s shoulders and pulling him closer. It fell quiet between them for a while as they watched and listened to the waterfall in front of them.
“Hey,” Benjamin finally said, breaking the silence.
“Yes?” Jacob pulled his arm back, quickly stretching.
“Do you think we could climb to the top of this thing?” He motioned to the top of the waterfall, high above their heads.
Jacob swam back under the waterfall into the middle of the pool, looking at the cliff that made it. He studied the rocks and trees that were around and on it. Eventually, Benjamin swam to his side.
“Well? See anything promising?” he asked.
“To climb up it? Probably not. But to find another way up there? That seems like a challenge. Why?”
Benjamin shrugged. “Well, you do love cliff diving…”
“Oh, you’re so on!” Jacob swam to the edge and hopped out of the water, quickly followed by Benjamin. He wrung the water out of his long hair and then pulled it back into a quick ponytail. They each went to either side of the cliff and tried to find footholds, or a rope, or some other way to climb up.
“Any luck?” Jacob called, failing to find anything with his further inspection.
“No.” He sighed. Then he got an idea. “Wait!” He ran over to Jacob. “Hop on!” he told him, squatting a bit and patting his back.
Jacob laughed. “What? Dude, I’m like a foot taller than you.”
“Yeah, I’m sure you’ll crush me. Shut up.” He patted his back again.
Jacob sighed, but did as asked. Benjamin jumped, creating a small gust of wind at his feet to help them reach the top. He landed right at the edge, carefully standing up so Jacob wouldn’t fall.
“Okay, fine. That was effective,” Jacob said, admiring the view from where they stood.
“A well-placed gust of wind can really do wonders. Now, when will you stop doubting me?”
“Probably in a couple decades,” Jacob said with a shrug and a smirk.
“God, you’re irritating,” Benjamin said with a laugh. “Now, are we going to jump or what?”
“You first!”
“Alright, coward. Let me show you how it’s done.” And he jumped, ensign up in the perfect dive as he sliced through the water with barely a splash.
“Very graceful, Benji!” Jacob called down.
“What’s your great ability?”
“This.” Jacob took a few steps back, then took off in a running leap. “Cannonball!” he cried as he tucked himself as small as he could. Benjamin laughed, holding his hands in front of his face to block the splash.
“How fun,” he said, swimming to Jacob once he surfaced. “Thanks for showing me this place.”
“Anytime,” he answered, leaning in for a kiss.

right before goodbye
for Angela/Leah
Angela looked out over the small crowd, fidgeting with the pull tab on top of her soda can. There wasn’t much else for her to do here; Jessica had dragged her to this bonfire, the last one of the summer, and then promptly ditched her to go flirt with Mike. Everyone else she knew already looked busy, and she had never been good at sliding into conversations unannounced.
“I’d stick with the cans if I were you. I saw blondie over there spike the punch earlier, and it did not look like a good combo,” a woman said as she walked up to Angela.
She jumped at the voice next to her, which she didn’t recognize. She turned to her right and saw a woman with short black hair, also holding a soda can. After looking at her a beat too long, Angela switched her gaze in the direction the other woman was pointing.
“Yeah, Lauren has a habit of doing that… it’s never been good,” she said with a laugh. “I don’t think anyone has the heart to tell her that none of that goes together.”  She watched as her friend was talking with some people from their class, including a tall guy Angela didn’t recognize.
“Lauren? I really don’t trust her judgment if she’s over there talking to Paul,” the woman said with a snort. “He’s not gonna shut up about her. I can already tell.”
“Paul?” Angela asked.
“The guy in the shorts. He’s my best friend. Annoying as all hell, though.”
Angela smiled. “Aren’t they always?”
“Definitely. Anyway. I’m Leah.”
“Angela! Nice to meet you.”
“Likewise.” Leah looked towards Paul again, rolling her eyes as he was clearly showing off while telling some story. “I should go remind him it’s almost his curfew,” she cracked.
“I bet he’d love that,” Angela said. Both women laughed, then it fell silent between them. “So, um, do you go to the school here?”
“I did! Graduated a couple months back.”
“Congrats! Do you have college plans…” Angela stopped when she heard Leah groan. “I’m sorry, you’re probably sick of that question.”
Leah laughed. “No, it’s not that. Well, yes. I am. But the issue is that I’m not going. My mom really wants me to be a nurse like her, but I don’t think it’s for me. So it’s a bit of a touchy subject.”
“Gotcha. I definitely understand the whole ‘parents not realizing you’re your own person’ thing.” She sighed.
“We’ll figure something out. We got time,” Leah said with a shrug and a smile.
“Ang!” Jessica shouted as she ran up. “The guys wanna show us something by the tidepools. Let’s go!” Jessica grabbed her hand and tried pulling her towards the group.
“Jess. I’m talking to someone,” Angela said, pulling her hand back.
“Please?” she begged. “You can flirt later!”
“Jessica!” Angela yelped. She blushed as Leah burst out laughing.
“Don’t worry about it. Go check whatever it is out. I’ll be around,” Leah said, tossing her  a wink.
Angela couldn’t hold back her smile. “Oh. Cool. Um. I can’t wait. Bye, Leah.” Angela threw a wave over her shoulder as Jessica pulled her away.
