CPN : Yibo’s 3 fears ( under the bxg lens ) 🔬
I wanted to wait a bit for the whole micro movie to be out for more clues or probably a more in depth explanation from yibo or the dancers about the concept of “fear”. but I realized it won’t change the background stories I will talk about or the cpn along with it. So in the recent SDC episode, a trailer of yibo’s movie was shown and he explained that they decided their theme will be some things that people may fear. He said it in a way that implies it’s common for people to fear these 3 things, but if you look closely, these are stuff he talked about before.

Let’s start with the 3 things that he fears :
These are things a lot of people may add to their list of fears, it’s a combination of superficial and existential ones. I also want to mention that it’s cool how he seems to be trying to get comfortable with getting to know his fears. He singled out being afraid of the dark and said he wants people to see a different side of him. One that is not afraid of the dark.

DARKNESS.
This is one well known fact that every Yibo fan knows and it’s not like he hides it. He keeps the lights on when he sleeps, or keeps the door open so that light from outside can come in. The latest example I can think of is the TTXS episode where they went inside dark rooms and he clearly did not want to be there.

starts at 13:05, everyone’s favorite interview where GG proceeds to clown him and scare him even more about his setup when he’s at a hotel. In interviews, sometimes we really can’t tell if they are telling the truth. Like GG acting like he doesn’t know Web can’t sleep with the lights off. Dude, you lived together. You spent time together, so close, in a hotel that has a transparent door divider. How could you not know? Or maybe since he was close by at the time, WYB felt comfortable enough to not keep it on.
Let’s expand more into this fear by adding things associated with it which is horror movies/ghosts as well as insects. things that commonly come out in the dark.
I want to talk about this particularly in the angle of WYB facing this fear as long as he is with GG. Back in 2018, when they watched Haunted Asylum as a group. Who do you think suggested a horror film as a form of bonding experience? My vote would be GG. because he loves that type of films. Plus as the person with the lead role, he was a natural leader so I see him suggesting it as a group activity. WYB would naturally say yes because his Zhan-ge asked, it will be fine because GG is there. Years later, we see that Horror podcast on XMLY. I know the CPN is GG was using his account and I think that is still true. However a part of me thinks WYB could have tried to listen to it too since GG likes it. It’s also a way to challenge himself to face his fear ( of the dark and all the things that come with it ). It is a common CPN that they try watch similar things when they are apart. Even play games together. A couple activity.
Another one is GG chasing him with a bug on his 21st birthday. It may be horrifying, but that memory can also be sweet. There is a bug/insect that he fears, but GG was actually trying to play with him. GG’s attention was on him that whole night and they even went running/jogging early the next day. It’s like when his fear is mixed in with a memory of GG, it’s not so scary anymore.
Yibo saying that he wants to show a side of himself that is not afraid of the dark is a clue for me of growth. I’d like to think that the boys make each other stronger. A better version of themselves. It’s as if, I have to be strong because I have someone I want to protect. That is what I’ve always loved about them. They became “more” after meeting each other.

LONELINESS.

Remind me, I'm a lonely star too
As soon as Yibo said Loneliness my mind immediately went to how GG changed the lyrics of his favorite song from “i’m no longer a lonely star” to “I’m deeply in love with a lonely star.” back in 2019. It was such a sweet gesture, interpret it how you want but a popular CPN is that it’s a reference to Yibo. I’ve already talked about GG seeing Yibo as his star and how that symbolism keeps on appearing between them. I’m thinking of 2018-2019 GG who sees WYB as a lonely star. A shining and bright star for everyone to see and admire, but he is alone. Such is true for alot of celebrities and I feel like GG had that same view on WYB. However in his point of view, he is willing to stay by his side. to accompany this lonely star— because in a way, he is lonely too.
They found each other in a time of their lives that their career was slowly gaining momentum and the loneliness was lingering. Even if I didn’t turn BXG or what, I would still be happy that these two found each other. With how shady their industry is, it’s rare to find people you can truly be friends with. It’s what they found with each other in the beginning, a good and solid foundation of friendship. companionship.
Add to that this song ZZ performed in Our Song and Yibo being called Mr. Lonely in DDU.

HX: I think actors are very lonely. I don’t know if you feel this way. Although in a crew there are hundreds of people when your return to your room you are alone.

I’m pretty sure he still gets his bout of loneliness. Especially when he has to be shut in and filming, unable to go home. This is why I get so happy when we have CPN that GG visits him on set. Whether that’s SDC, LOF or even One & Only. I think GG knows that too and this is another effort they make to be together. I remember when GG was asked what he will do to let someone know he likes them — his answer was he will show up constantly beside that person. He can’t do that constantly now as he did back when they were filming and promoting CQL but i wanna believe that he takes the opportunity to visit Yibo when he can. No matter how busy he is, he will make time. Rumors/CPN of them talking to each other all the time by phone & video calls eases the loneliness too on Yibo’s part.
Just looking at back at what Yibo said before in DDU, how sometimes he wants to write down his feelings. In a way, when he is tired, sort of complain that he is tired and send it to his circle of friends— but he doesn’t because no one cares. He feels like it’s childish to do it. To now, he has someone he can talk to. Someone he can complain to and can understand. Someone who has the wisdom to advise him and knows what to say.

THE PASSAGE OF TIME.
Who isn’t afraid of time running out? not doing the things you wanna do, and then before you know it, time’s up. I think this applies to Bobo’s career, that’s why he does not stop accepting projects. same thing with GG. It’s because their time as top celebrities is not permanent. Also with how fickle the CCP is when it comes to it’s treatment of celebrities.
However when I heard Bobo mention it, what I thought about is another fear of his which is forgetting. Which is closely related to the passing of time. When you grow older.
“I feel that a close one who accompanied you all your life till you’re old and in the end forgot all about you, it might feel like the end of the world.”
I have already discussed both their views on time & the CPN over here so i won’t repeat it.
My only wish is for them to be together as long as time will allow. 🤍

Lotus Emira GT4 (Is it just me, or all sports cars resemble each other)
The Emira GT4, while designed to compete in the lower tiers of the GT series, is nonetheless a serious brute. Right behind you, there’s that familiar Toyota-sourced 2GR-FE V6 engine. The regular Emira is fitted with a similar motor. The standard tune is more than sufficient for storming across a set of bends, but that’s not enough here.
At least, not sufficient to win trophies with. Instead, Lotus’ engineers have been hard at work fettling around with that engine. Now, it’s cranking out 400hp and is capable of revving up to 7,200RPM with all 3.5-litres of displacement. Although, these figures are merely placeholders for now. Depending on where the Emira GT4 is expected to race, it can be tweaked to meet the organisers’ regulations.
Therefore, you might see the actual output vary below or above 400hp. That dry-sump engine is then mated with Motec electronics and management. As well as, a revised Harrop TVS 1900 supercharger. It’s then paired with a state-of-the-art Xtrac 6-speed sequential gearbox, which could be actuated with a set of paddle shifters. The drive goes exclusively to the rear, and through a limited slip differential.
For a race car, the Emira’s extruded and bonded aluminium chassis naturally had to lose some weight. This is thanks to an array of lightweight materials, such as composite body panels and a set of forged aluminium wheels. In all, the Emira GT4 weighs 1,300kg without any fluids (aka dry weight). This will make it around 100kg lighter than the road-going Emira’s kerb weight of 1,405kg, which is decent.
Of course, let’s not forget the suspension tuning, which is just as crucial. The Emira GT4 rides on double wishbones front and rear and is made out of forged aluminium, at that. These are then fitted alongside upgraded bushes and anti-roll bars. On top of that, there are 2-way adjustable Ohlins TTX dampers. This is then suited up with a plethora of carbon fibre components, another key element of all this mass.The redesigned front splitter, rear diffuser, and massive rear wings are all made from carbon. You can get your livery painted from the factory, too. With that out of the way, we can finally move on to the most exciting bit of my day at Hethel – being driven around. Immediately, the outright pace of Lotus’ latest and greatest Emira GT4 is nothing short of astonishing, making mincemeat of every corner.

okay so, about that topic on the boys suiting which animal.
my points on why i think sunday is a blue-ring octopus has 2 main factors, the cosmic entity "Cthulhu" (mainly on the name and their tittles) and Sunday's controlling personality (also the fact that blue-ring octo is one of the ocean's most stunning creatures but also one of the most poisonous, just like him).
so i have read and do a bit of research on Cthulhu before, and of the things that really pique my mind is some of their tittles; "The Great Dreamer", "The Sleeper of R'lyeh", but it's also in the way that Cthulhu's name is usually comes with an epithet like the Great, Dread, and Dead. sounds about right when Sunday is from Penacony (the planet of sweet slumbers and dreamscapes) and he's the "leader of Penacony" and he's now "allegedly" dead.
Sunday is just so controlling, so manipulative, he forces people to follow his order (it's shown in the lore), so as an octopus using its tentacles to control and restrict its prey. but this is why i specifically chose the blue-ringed octopus for him (except the obvious that blue is HIS color). this creature is extremely poisonous, despite it's beautiful looks (Sunday was said to be the most handsome man in Penacony) and very tame nature. it can inject TTX poison via bitten wounds, affecting the victim's neuron system and then paralyze them (and may cause deaths) if the octi feels threatened.
imagine Octopus!Sunday just uses his tentacles to keep (trap/restrict) his darling around him at all times and if darling is causing a ruckus he'll just force her to oblige by his (less deadly) poison.
yes, i'm in my yandere!Sunday phase and i'm sorry for the word vomit 😭🙏
This all sounds really interesting and intriguing, especially the way you talked about the Ctulhu! But the thing is - I am not into yandere. So this much controlling and manipulating over someone's beloved isn't my cup of tea.

Powerstage RR Limited Edition: The first carbon-framed Ducati e-MTB
The e-MTB range for 2024 expands with the introduction of the Powerstage RR Limited Edition, Ducati's most exclusive e-enduro model developed to tackle the most extreme off-road conditions. The name Powerstage, in fact, recalls a new type of special stage recently introduced in the e-enduro circuits which consists in tackling, in addition to the classic downhill stages, a technical uphill route, testing both the skills of athletes competing in the races and the performance level of the vehicle.
Powerstage RR Limited Edition is a concentration of technology and advanced components, defined by eliminating compromises with the aim of offering maximum performance.
The "full carbon" frame has undergone lengthy testing on the toughest routes with a single goal: to guarantee maximum performance in the enduro field. The choices on the arrangement of the carbon layers and on the types of fibre intertwining are the result of FEA (Finite Element Analysis) which allows to identify the points subject to greater stress, which therefore require greater strength. More attention to stiffness has been given to the steering area, the rear chain stay and the engine area reinforced by two ribs (T-Ribs).
On the frame there are many other high-quality functional details, such as the passage of internal cables, protected by a steering stop system (T-Stopper), bearings on the joints, in direct contact with the carbon without the use of bushings and an asymmetrical rear chain stay, which in addition to a captivating design offers better responsiveness and uphill traction.
The geometric solutions adopted make the Powerstage RR extremely fast and stable on the roughest routes. The verticalised 78° seat tube angle allows the rider to assume an optimal position in the saddle on technical uphill sections, and a slack 64° head tube angle helps to overcome any obstacle at top speeds.
The new Shimano EP801 drive unit represents a benchmark for the category and maintains the native characteristics of the EP8: 250 Watts of nominal power and 85 Nm of torque, always delivered with the utmost fluidity and naturalness over a wider cadence range than ever before. The new system features two preconfigured assistance profiles: "long ride", to favour autonomy on long tours and "fast ride", to enjoy maximum performance on shorter outings. By means of the "Fine Tune" mode present on the Shimano "E-Tube Project" app, it is possible to create your own profiles thanks to the extensive possibilities for customising the electric assistance. The removable 630Wh Shimano battery is positioned inside the "verticalised" downtube in order to lower the centre of gravity, improving the balance of the bike.
The Öhlins RXF38 m.2 air fork (180 mm travel) and the Öhlins m.2 spring shock absorber with TTX technology (170 mm travel) are fully adjustable in both rebound and compression, at high and low speeds, ensuring precision riding and stability.
The SRAM GX AXS 12-speed wireless rear electronic shifting provides immediate and precise gear-shifts at all times. The Braking First brakes with customised Ducati Corse levers and 203 mm thick 3 mm discs are among the most powerful currently on the market.
The Crankbrothers Synthesis wheels with differentiated format (29” front, 27.5” rear) with variable thickness carbon rims help to further improve steering precision, guaranteeing an excellent weight/strength ratio. The tyres are Pirelli Scorpion Enduro S on the front and Pirelli Scorpion EMTB-S on the rear to offer maximum grip and adherence.
The equipment is completed by a telescopic seat post, a Renthal carbon handlebar and a Fizik saddle with special integrated tool holder.

The livery designed by Aldo Drudi in collaboration with the Centro Stile Ducati is inspired by the Desmosedici GP23 of the official MotoGP team, enhancing the unique character of this e-mtb produced in a limited edition of 230 numbered units, a figure that recalls the denomination of the racing bike.
The new Powerstage RR Limited Edition will be previewed in the paddock area during the upcoming German Grand Prix at Sachsenring and can already be ordered from the Ducati dealer network and online at www.ducati.com.

CPN : breo press conference 🎤
xiao zhan has no chill. lol. or maybe our cpn sensitivity is just too much so we read between the lines. anyway, below are some 👀 moments in today’s live. I’m so happy he gets to do stuff like this more frequently now. I’m always delighted to see him and ofcourse to have new photos. 🤍
1. He said he watches thrillers ( scary movies? ) to relax and the host was like ?? , the he says “you will be relaxed after watching it and it varies from person to person.” Then the hots jokes that maybe you will be relieved after yelling/screaming. Then GG smiled and laughed :
We know this troll loves horror movies which is the complete opposite of Bobo. I think he is the only one who can convince Yibo of watching those things. Is it relaxing when he is with Yibo and watching films like that? I hate them. Now I’m thinking about them watching movies together all cuddled up and shit. GG let me fight you. 🥷 I don’t think this is limited to “watching” because if you believe the shared himalaya account, he listened to a horror podcast too 😂😂😂
2. He also said he does not stay up late. Especially during work. However during CQL, we have a video of Bobo who said he played NBA with GG in his room after work. Ofcourse, It’s Yibo. I think if someone like him asks you to play with him you have no choice but to say yes. Yibo is the exception to all his rules. He can’t say no to his puppy.
3. People have noticed he kept his hands on his pockets, this action seems similar to what Yibo does. Not just in photoshoots, more gifs here of instances where Bobo naturally puts his hands in his pockets.
4. GG mentioned here that there are times he does not sleep well. This was also said in one of his magazine features, that when he arrived at the photoshoot he was experiencing insomnia. This was 2019. Same year, you have Bobo asking a guest in TTXS about insomnia and if there is music that can help people sleep. Is this also why Yibo bought scented candles? Lol. Please. We are never letting him live that down.
5. This exchange :

GG : Hot pot makes me anxious.

Things Yizhan Made Me Do
It's BXG Day today! 🐢💛
To commemorate the occasion, I thought of making a list of 13 out-of-character things that I've done since falling into the fandom. (OK I'm a bit late I meant to do this sooner, the day is ending soon in a couple of hours).
1. Start a blog
And a public one, no less. I had a blog when I was in my teens but that was private, like a personal diary. My day job already involves writing so off-work I would usually like to indulge in mindless activities. Now, here I am, maintaining a Yizhan blog. I have not even used Tumblr prior to this but I'm enjoying it now, rambling about our fav boys. Writing is not a chore if it's about them.
2. Join a fandom
I joined a boy band fan club once upon a time, some 15 years ago, but I was never as invested in it as I am now with Yizhan. Back then it was just buying some merch, attending their concert/autograph sessions, listening to their songs. Apart from work, dog mum duties, personal relationships, other hobbies like kombucha brewing, most of my free time is now spent on the fandom. My Netflix account is crying. There is just so much to do and catch up on (I'm not complaining). I also enjoy interacting with and learning from other bloggers here. Antis are no fun and some industry news/developments/hate messages are upsetting but ultimately, you curate your own fandom experience. And I choose positivity and rationality.
3. Indulge in RPS
I don't ever 'ship'. What is 'ship'? 😆 I was always a dutiful audience, just enjoying whatever drama series and moving on after that. I started with CQL like most people and I didn't even notice/like GGDD until much later. Didn't even set out to 'ship' anyone but now I'm a self-professed turtle. SZD is SZD, and anyone can see something special between them if you keep an open mind. I wrote about my SZD reasons here previously. That said, GG & DD are individuals, each with their own successful careers. They come first, the ship comes second. That I'm very clear of.
4. Use Chinese apps
Gosh, my phone and tablet are now full of Chinese apps. I used to have only WeChat cos I needed it for work but now I have Weibo, Oasis, Douyin, WeTV, MangoTV, Youku, etc. Some of them are not even available in the app store so I had to find alternative sources to download them. haha..I even have paid membership for some of these apps. And now, browsing Weibo daily becomes a routine. If you wish, you can just get stuck browsing Weibo for a long long time. It's entertaining.
5. Read fan fic
I only started about 6 months ago but now I'm hooked and fics are largely the only thing I read these days, apart from news. But I only read Yizhan or WangXian fics (p.s. calling for fic recs of other pairings!) I know some might have different feelings about fan fics but to me, I really just see them as fiction, with characters (and sometimes traits) bearing similarities to GGDD. Similarly, I separate the platform from the incident so I have no problems going to A03 despite GG's incident. I just enjoy seeing the characters named XZ/WYB having happy endings in many different timelines and universes. While most of the fics I read are explicit (by design), I don't use them as tools to play out certain fantasies or to think of GGDD in a sexual manner. In fact, I really hate fics that have little substance and just go into the explicit parts without plot development. I like those with interesting premises too, like one I read recently where XZ is a serial killer and WYB is a police officer investigating the case but also in love with him. I do have plans to share my list of fav fan fics some time down the road so keep an eye out for it!
6. Willingly read Chinese
Yes, Chinese may be my mother tongue but I don't use it much in daily living unless I have to. I also find it tedious to read Chinese cos the characters are just so squashed together. If I have a choice, I will always pick English. But now, I read so much Chinese from my daily weibo browsing. I even read fan fics in Chinese! Who am I? On the plus side, I think my Chinese comprehension and translation skills improved. I also picked up some internet lingo used by Chinese netizens, which are pretty interesting like doi, 🐮🍺, 🖍. My all-time fav is yyds.
7. Act like a cougar
In real life, I have always maintained that younger men are childish. At least those I have encountered. But look at me now, fangirling over two younger men (I am closer in age to GG, but still..). I even jokingly call them my 'China Boyfriends'. I look at them very respectfully most of the time.
8. Buy merch
Seriously, once you start, you can't stop. At least that was what happened to me, although I'm still quite selective when it comes to supporting their endorsements. I usually go for consumables like food, cosmetics vs collectibles cos I'm more practical. Also, GG says to support their merch within reasonable means so that's what I'm doing. Just buying things that I'm interested to try and not because it has their faces or names slapped on it. In a way, this suits me cos I like trying new brands and stuff anyway.
9. Keeping a Yizhan archive
Photos, weblinks, videos, songs, fan fics list..my phone is full of these things now. I think my Yizhan photo gallery is only second to the folder with my dogs' pictures. But how can you resist when we are blessed with new pics of them almost every week?
10. Camp for livestreams
I'm lucky I live in the same time zone as the boys so I don't have to wake up in the wee hours of the morning just to watch something. But that's the thing, being in the same time zone sometimes make me feel like I HAVE to watch that thing live because, why not? Why wait? Not shy to admit that I once watched a live programme in the middle of work but I made sure I finished what needed to be done. I think so long as we don't let these livestream schedules run our lives, there's no harm in camping for them.
11. Watch c entertainment
I am one of those who used to pass over Chinese productions, simply because it's a Chinese production. Not in a scoffing manner but I'm just genuinely not interested in them nor the celebs. I was more of a US/UK production kind of person, occasionally Korean/Japanese. Now, I'm learning to enjoy them although I just watch those with GGDD in them. No energy to follow other Chinese celebs anyway. The other programme I'm contemplating watching even if it doesn't have them in it is Who's the Murderer (GG was only in one of the cases) cos I like the premise. On the flip side, now my sis and partner keep making fun of me cos to them, all I do now is "watch China shows". That is so not true. Or is it?
12. Write fan mail
I wrote a letter to GG once. A long-ass letter. I hope he read it. That's all I'm gonna say. 🙈 hahahahaha
13. Desire to visit China
China was never on my list of to-visit places. Just wasn't interested. I have been to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou a few times in the past for work but even then, I never felt the urge to revisit for leisure. Now, I wanna visit GG and DD's home town, visit Chongqing to see the graffiti wall with Bobii Zanbii on it, eat mala hotpot and try out their sauce recipe, attend BXG events, dine at the CQL restaurant... Watching TTXS also made me realise that there are many beautiful places in China with natural landscapes and all that. I used to be clouded by my disdain for the regime and some behaviour of its citizens but now, I recognise that the country is separate from the regime or a smaller group of poorly behaved citizens. China is a beautiful country and I would love to visit some day. I will fly over immediately on my own if someone gives me tix to ADLAD!!

Hi, I’ve been wondering this for a while... given how popular both GG and DD are, I would be really amazed if there were no pictures of them together taken by paparazzi or fans. But there seems to be none. I hate to say this but realistically there must be greedy people out there who would jump at profiting from selling their pictures to the media. And it seems that the rumors are that they interact with each other outside of their living space. Anyway, I was wondering what your thoughts were. Thanks!
Hi! I want to start this off by saying that this is fake, this is fanfiction, and is purely my personal opinion on the topic, so please don’t take this as fact. Other people may have a different take, and that’s perfectly fine - the only 2 people who really know what’s what are GGDD. The rest of us are mere spectators, trying to guess at the truth.
Now, with that said, I’m going to break this post into photos taken of them during the Untamed, and photos taken of them post-Untamed. Why? Because I think the amount of photos and BTS of taken during the filming of the Untamed have shaped people’s expectations on the amount of material that they expect to find on GGDD post-Untamed, and I want to talk a bit about why we should be happy that there isn’t more material on them post-Untamed.
So I think there’s some fandom consensus that whatever started between them really solidified/became serious when they began filming the Untamed. I say this because of some of the things that came out from the BTS - for example, the birthday BTS, and DD’s post the next day gives me a very strong impression that for him, at least, was when he had made up his mind about GG. So I’m going to hazard a guess and say that that was when they really decided how they wanted to take things forward.
Now, if we go by that timeline, there are plenty of pictures and videos of them, and all of those can be excused by the fact that they’re co-workers who have to work in close proximity with each other - literally, the very nature of their respective characters means that they share plenty of scenes. To me, this is the perfect cover for a budding relationship, where you can constantly be around and touch someone you’re interested in and pass it off as “guys being guys and hanging out and roughhousing”. So what I’m trying to get at is that there are tons of pictures of GGDD together during this time - just that it makes it harder for people to sort out whether it’s pictures of co-workers hanging out, or whether it’s something more. (I mean it’s easy for us, but that’s because we’re all clowns!)
However, there’s one set of photos that stick out to me, and that’s the Dragon Boat festival. You can read more about that here. I’m going to guess and say that that was probably the first time that GGDD was aware of the spotlight on them - the spotlight being the world outside the bubble of the Untamed set. Sure, there were cameras pointed at them all the time while they were on set, but that’s on set, where there’s an expectation that they would be filmed. This was the paps trying to catch DD on a date with his “girlfriend”, and finding GG there instead. Then after that, the Untamed blew up, and suddenly the whole world was looking at them. I don’t think anyone in the cast or crew expected to find this much level of success - yes, there was already a set fanbase from the books, but this not only turned out to be a massive hit in China, it also swept through Southeast Asia and even caught the attention of people halfway around the globe in America and Europe. Now, if the Dragon Boat photos had put them on alert, the resulting craze for the Untamed would only make them more wary.
The Untamed aired from June to August 2019. According to this incredible post, GGDD’s last joint interview was the Thailand fan meet in September 2019. That’s also the last time we have “good” BTS videos and photos of them - because any interactions between them could easily be explained away as them promoting the show. After that, with exception of when they meet at award shows or for official events, it seems like the amount of BTS photos and videos of them together abruptly drop off, so it’s natural that some fans wonder why it is, when they’re supposedly so close.
My guess is that post-Untamed, they’ve become much more aware of the number of eyes watching them. They know the lengths that some fans will go to, and they’re very careful to take precautions and surround themselves with people they know they can trust. And the lengths that they go to protect their privacy can be extreme - I’m linking to this old article to highlight that as far back as 2019, GG was already engaging in defensive tactics to try and avoid crazy fans. Last year, there was a period where they began adopting each other’s style to the point that on a casual glance, people mistook GG as DD and vice versa. There was some speculation that they did this on purpose so in the event that someone actually saw them, they would have assumed that it was actually the other person. (ie. if someone saw GG exiting DD’s hotel but dressed like how DD would have dressed, they would have assumed it was DD).
In addition, there were clips that showed how uncomfortable both of them were when they realised the full extent of how much BTS there was, and how much BTS had been released. If anything, that would probably only reinforce their need for discretion. Keep in mind that while China has decriminalised homosexuality, however, LGBT folk are still discriminated against. Any photos or videos of them that can’t be explained away would have a serious impact on their careers, so I’m not surprised that they’re now very careful about what they do and how they behave around each other publicly, which might be a stark contrast on how they used to behave around each other when filming the Untamed. You can see how stiff and formal they are around each other at official awards and events, and this is the reason why.
Also, keep in mind that they’re also both busy professionals with very hectic schedules, and who probably don’t have a lot of opportunities to physically meet, and the lack of photos or videos of them together post-Untamed would make a lot of sense.
It’s also good that they’re not always collaborating professionally (even though a collaboration would mean that they would get to legitimately spend time with each other). Both of them are trying to move beyond the label of 小鲜肉 (literally, little fresh meat), which can have negative connotations - ie. they’re just a pretty face with no talent. Their success outside of the Untamed and outside of each other proves that they’re not just one-trick ponies who only are only famous or successful because of fan service, and that’s good.
However! 2020 was kind of an incredible year for how much DD slipped up during TTXS (and on other shows). There were so many instances where he said something that left his brothers scrambling to cover for him. Others have done a far more detailed and better job in covering some of these instances here and here. You have infer a bit more, and you don’t get everything laid out for you in a photo or a BTS video, but their interactions are still there - just in a different form.

Taking care of you
Hi, guys! I initially wrote this post for an ask, but it got too long to be included, so I separated it in another post.
Disclaimer: fake info.
I’d like to highlight the moments they take care of each other. It must be because of how my own relationship works, but I really feel there’s something real between them when I see them just caring for each other.
Dd taking care of gg
From gg’s angle, I think the biggest clue is not just him taking care of dd, but letting himself be taken care of. From my experience, a independent, proud and competitive person like gg admitting that he doesn’t want to do something, asking for help or letting others defend him like dd does, shows a great deal of trust in the other person. He trusts the other one to do the right thing, to say the right words. And that’s present from start to finish in all of their events.
In the Thai fanmeeting (0:13-0:40 here), when asked a difficult question, gg and dd both said: “you answer”. Gg said in a very low voice “I don’t want to answer”, so dd inmediately turned to the reporter and thought of an answer. However, his answer was too short, so gg jumped in to complete it. Gg is perfectly capable of taking care of himself in events and interviews. He has done so before and continues to do so. However, whenever he’s with dd, he relaxes more, and lets dd take the reins or even asks him to (he asked him in this segment, but dd always rushes to defend him if needs arises, like the “you look at the waist” or the “why rush into marriage” moments). That doesn’t mean that he just disconnects, but remains attentive so he can help dd too if necessary. The way they rely and complete each other is really cp goals.
In CQL bts (the scene of the boat), dd keeps peeling lotus seeds for gg and giving them to him. Gg just naturally takes the seeds from him, and when YB hands him another stem, he just hands it to dd. If it wasn’t dd, just any other coworker, I don’t think gg would bear to just sit there and have another person peeling lotus seeds for him. He’d probably peel them himself, because that’s the “polite” thing to do. However, there’s no such need with people you’re really close to, and gg just sitting there speaks volumes of their closeness to each other.
(And note that when YB asks dd to pass him a lotus seed, dd just throws an unpeeled one to him, and YB has to peel it himself, because dd is only peeling lotus seeds for gg. Dd’s double standards).
In TTXS 11th anniversary, dd brings gg as his special guest. Gg says: “wang-laoshi please take care of me”, and dd answers: “I can’t even take care of myself”. But in the episode, he never leaves gg’s side, slows down the dance so gg can follow and jumps in to dance himself when gg is asked to and uncomfortable to say “no” (note that he also defended gg in the Thai fan meeting interview, when the reporter asked if gg could dance for them, dd was the first one to answer “no”)
Gg’s hearing is quite poor, so he often misses hosts’ questions. Dd is used to it by now: sometimes gg doesn’t even needs to ask him and dd will already be turning to him to repeat the question to him. I can think of at least three times that dd helped him like that: (1), (2) and (3)
(In Tencent Awards night, gg didn’t even hear the host telling him to stay for a bit, and only stopped after seeing dd. He didn’t hear anything the hosts said either. What is remarkable is that dd started to explain as soon as he turned. How did you know that gg hadn’t heard anything if you were facing the other side, dd?)
In Nanjing concert (191101), gg had a infection in the throat (faringitis). He could barely talk in the practice, and it’s part of the reason he’s much more silent in that concert. His throat was bothering him at the end of the concert, when they were both singing WuJi, so dd just simply sang his lines for him, hitting the high notes even though his voice isn’t suited for them. He continued to sing the leading voice of the song, just so gg could rest his voice. Gg’s reaction is so sweet too (his surprised stare, their smiles, gg nodding his head giving his thanks... judge for yourselves). He was smiling much more afterwards too.
Gg taking care of dd
But of course, gg also takes care of dd. As I’ve said, this goes to them both.
We’ve the famous knee pads moment in the 9-minutes boat video. Gg notices injuries in dd’s knees and looks very sad when he asks “b-but these are new injuries?”. They even bicker for a second, but gg keeps looking at dd’s knees and out of concern asks him to wear knee-pads. We all know that more than a year after that, dd is indeed listening to gg’s words, even though at first he laughed at them and asked “who would wear knee pads?”.
In the same 9-minute boat video, gg also asks him “I heard yesterday was so hot that an extra fainted... how were you?”. From my pov, this video allows us a small glimpse into how they interact, and by dd’s answer I think it’s usual for gg to be caring and attentive of dd. Even when they are playing and joking around, gg keeps in mind dd’s health, like when he said “yes, I’ll let you off since you haven’t slept for 2-3days and that’s sad. Rest well, please” here.
I don’t even think gg was thinking of anymore than just friendship with dd at that moment. But it already started to show that he cared a lot about him.
There are also multiple instances of gg taking care of dd’s throat. For some reason, it seems dd is very prone to colds and coughs (he once said he was the kind of kid that got sick every season, and I don’t think the idol life workload is doing anything to fix that).
Bxg digged out that gg gave dd a certain brand cough drop in the Thai fan meeting (and it’s the same one he was sharing with the other hosts in SDoC). Then we jump at Tencent Awards night. Gg sees that dd has something candy-like in his mouth and inmediately asks: “does your throat hurt?”. The amount of knowledge necessary here: as his cohosts from SDoC demonstrates for us, when we see a friend eating a candy, it’s more normal to ask “oh, you’re eating a candy?”. But gg inmediately knows that it’s a cough drop, most likely because he knows that dd doesn’t like sweets and snacks and he gave him those. From there, we jump to gg’s worry about dd “does your throat hurt?”.
In TTXS episode with gg, at the end, when they are eating meat skewers, gg advises dd to eat less of them: “they have black pepper, it’s bad for the throat”. For me, it’s a sign of how gg takes care of dd in a more domestic and daily basis. The comment is taken naturally by dd, as if he’s used to it.
(Actually, I’d like to know what gg has to say about dd eating so many spicy hotpots with his cough. In traditional Chinese medicine, “spicy, sweet, oily and alcohol” are the four prohibitions for people who want to take care of their voice and their throat. By gg’s comments and the brand of cough drops he gives dd, I’m almost sure he wouldn’t like dd mistreating his throat like this).
I’m sure most of you has noticed the next one, but gg always clears the seat for dd. He did so in Nanjing fan meeting, and took the papers and the pen away so dd didn’t sit on them, and again cleared the seat next to him in Tencent awards. So when gg wasn’t sitting next to him in w/ibo night, dd simply sat with a water bottle behind him, and gg noticed when he sat in dd’s seat later, when dd had left.
(It’s also interesting to analyze gg’s movement in Tencent Awards. Everyone in that sofa where sitting widely apart from each other, so a pen placed next to gg shouldn’t bother dd if he simply took his seat keeping the same distance everyone was keeping. But gg assumed naturally that dd would be sitting next to him).
(At the left, an actress who is rumoured to follow other actors cp’s, and was seen observing gg and dd that night quite closely).
Also from Tencent Awards night, dd was confused as to how to leave the stage, which gg kindly points him the correct way. The same thing, though much more subtle, appears again at the w/ibo night, when with a glance from dd, gg points the way with his fan for dd.
Gg also cares about dd’s career. In c-culture, connections and relationships with important people play a large part in your success in any industry. So at first gg was standing between ZLY and dd, but when he noticed ZLY talking with dd, he just gently pushed dd towards her, so they could chat.
This is why I don’t really believe in the famous video of a “jealous gg moment” (when they got off stage and were walking down the stairs, dd looked at ZLY, and that glance was supposedly seen by gg, who stormed off, leaving dd behind). I think gg didn’t react like that because of dd (though he did look at him), but because someone signaled him from afar.
Dd even waited for ZLY to get on stage, and offered his help to her because she was wearing a long dress. This was also seen by gg, who turned to check if dd was following. If this moment didn’t get a reaction from gg, and he doesn’t react poorly when they both chatted at his side, I don’t know why dd just looking at her afterwards would sit so badly with gg (and we get back to the fact of ZLY being married and with a baby).
At the Nanjing concert, in the first day, when gg and dd were singing Wu Ji, there were some problems with their earphones. You can actually see them trying to fix it from here. However, dd ends up taking off his, and there’s a moment of silent communication, where I think dd was asking gg to cue him the start of the next part of the song (which is dd’s). From here, you can see gg keeping up with the beats of the song, and see him pointing with the mic towards dd when is his turn to start singing.
I particularly love this Wu Ji interpretation from them, because it’s first dd asking gg for help, and inmediately after, dd taking care of gg.
They rely on each other, trust each other and they move around each other like the other one is meant to be in their personal space. Neither gives or receives more help from the other, they are in an equally balanced relationship. Now you can take this and compare it to real relationships you know of to get your own conclusions about whether it resembles a romantic relationship or a strong friendship.
