honestly when Five is telling Viktor that he suspects Allison betrayed them in the s3 finale and includes “she killed Harlan” as one of his reasons, that speaks VOLUMES. literally nobody has cared about or even acknowledged Viktor’s grief at Harlan’s death up till that point. this was the same boy whom Viktor was ready to raise with Sissy, the closest thing he ever had to a child of his own. and until then, everyone dismissed and invalidated his pain and the level of betrayal Allison’s murder of Harlan was, as if s2 never happened. and then Five admits that he knows how important Harlan was to his brother and that Allison broke Viktor’s heart with her actions, and that alone is enough of a reason for Five to be willing to declare Allison a traitor to the family.

i mean considering how many innocent people he was willing to kill for the greater good, you’d think Harlan would never be of any importance to him. And he was initially willing to sacrifice Harlan to the Sparrows anyway. But when he saw Viktor’s genuine grief, Harlan’s life became a real factor in his distrust of Allison.

nobody can convince me Viktor isn’t still Five’s favorite sibling.

The Umbrella Academy season 3 (spoilers ahoy) has Nox Syndrome. What is it that I call Nox Syndrome? I'll explain:

Nox is this guy

He's the main villain in season 1 of Wakfu, a French series (that got translated in a few other languages, including English). Context: he's a time wizard and clockwork master (that's their deal) who gained access to a weird and frankly overpowered artifact that gave him incredible insight into the nature of energy and time, and power to realise his vision. It became an obsession to work with that, until his family left and then he learned that where they left they died in a flood.

So of course he decides to turn back time, since he's getting so good at time magic. Problem: even his literal god (Xelor, which is Rolex backwards), which gave the name to his entire race, couldn't. So he has to one-up his own god. Only an absolutely ridiculous amount of energy can do it. So he starts leeching Wakfu, which is magic energy/life energy out of everything. He destroys people, villages, forests, etc. Eventually he gains acces to a dragon, a.k.a. the most potent magic energy source anywhere. He kills it and snatches the egg while the dragon's energy is getting back into the egg for regeneration, so now he's holding several artifacts of power that synergise very well.

But he doesn't have all the power. In a last bid before the heroes stop him, he decides to leech out the energy of a major race, effectively carrying out magical genocide, before jumping back in time. But he can't do it before the heroes battle him and he has to spend a loooooot of energy to defeat them.

Then he makes the jump, because he couldn't leech anything more, he's falling to pieces. And he SUCCEEDS. But he only jas energy to jump back 20 minutes, after 200 years of collecting mana. He outdid his god but failed.

It did erase his genocide, but not his long streak of murders. Problem is: if it hadn't been for the heroes, he'd probably have entirely succeeded. If they'd volunteered help, his plan would have been a net positive, in that he'd have saved all inhabitants of an island from a weird magical flood, and all his bad actions would have vanished from the timeline. And his plan would have worked. He was literally right and the heroes broke it.

How does that apply to The Umbrella Academy? - Reggie is ready to sacrifice everyone and everything to reboot the universe. You read that right: he's literally changing the settings of the universe to reach his goals. Some of them being "erasing all the harm done". And that literally makes everything ok? He knows what he's doing, he's using a foolproof extra-dimensional machine that is designed to do this, he's doing it very well... And they collectively decide to stop trusting him at the last moment, when there is no other option and nothing else to do. It's presented as a betrayal/possible issue that Allison, after killing him to save her family, does press the button to enact his plan... but there was nothing else to do, and he was right, and it'd've probably gone further and been potentially better, or even perfect, if they'd let him finish.

what taylor swift songs remind you of klaus? do you think klaus would be a swiftie?

Ooooh what an interesting question!!

I think my answer is that he probably wouldn't be a Swiftie, though I think he'd like Folklore and Evermore quite a lot, and he'd enjoy the big pop hits enough. Klaus' music taste is typically older, the sort of stuff he likes to vibe too. While he's dancing with the rest of the family to pop staples I Think We're Alone Now and (I've Had) The Time of my Life, when he's listening to music we've seen that he'll play The Hollies, Nina Simone and Brenton Wood. Basically, Klaus seems to have quite a varied music knowledge but I think his taste leans towards older stuff, though he'd for sure enjoy her music.

As for specific songs, I could only think of three, and one is just for some lyrics.

The first is Epiphany. It's quite an obvious choice but I think it makes a lot of sense as a song about war, PTSD. I think Klaus' war trauma is something the show's forgotten about, but it was a good ten months of his life. It's also just an uncomfortably beautiful song to try and sit with. I don't think it needs much more explanation.

The second I think is a Klaus song is The Lakes. This one's a little harder to explain, but the Lakes plays a lot with the idea of escape, the idea of not really belonging amongst society, but having that one lover who understands. "What should be over burrowed under my skin in heart-stopping waves of hurt" reminds me of all his season 1 bath scenes, the way his trauma manifests. I also think the song talks in a lot of romanticised death imagery, it's an elegy of sorts, and that's very Klaus. And also the idea of trying to reach a place of sanctuary and not really belonging, that's something that makes a lot of sense to me considering the void or even his addictions (more in the comics). I just... yeah!! That makes a lot of sense to me.

And those are the two big ones. I also think Happiness isn't a Klaus song in how it's supposed to be interpreted, but quite a chunk of it makes sense if you used the lyrics in a Klaus or a Klave context. Specifically "There is happiness past the blood and bruise past the curses and cries beyond the terror in the nightfall haunted by the look in my eyes that would've loved you for a lifetime" is SO good that I think I might make it a gifset. No explanation needed, I'm sure.

Anyway, I hope these were interesting!!! They were interesting for me to think about!!! I'm mostly considering gif ideas now. Thank you so much lovely anon!!! xx
