More Klaus Stuff!!!

So I found some symbolism in Dave’s dog tags!!! It could be obvious but idk I just thought it was cool!!

So Klaus is always holding them, rubbing over the name with his fingers etc etc etc! But eventually, that would wear it down right??? So one day is it possible that he would be wearing dog tags with either a real faded name or nothing at all???

Metal wears down, rings grow thin and break, engravings wear away.

What is similar?? Stone!! What is made of stone?? Headstones!!!

I don’t know much about War and I’m guessing dog tags were also some kind of portable grave for families as well as ID for the soldiers but if not, I think that’s real sad that headstones (when either well loved or badly weather-abused) can allow the person to fade from space as well as time and one day Dave’s dog tags might do the same…

EVERYONE STFU I JUST WATCHED THE SCENE WHERE KLAUS GETS BACK FROM VIETNAM IM NOT OK. HE JUST COLLAPSES ON THE GROUND AND GRABS THE DOGS TAGS AND THEN HUG HIMSELF LIKE O M G. I’m in so much pain. Klave deserves happiness. They just. Give Klaus a break. Being tortured for hours. His PTSD from the ghosts and the war, losing his loved one. Being ignored and seen as a joke by everyone. Then BAM worshipped by a wholeass cult and then seeing the younger version of who you love and you couldn’t save him. THEN he finally gets to be seen by someone, who happens to be his dad who caused half his trauma only for it to have been a lie for him to reach his twisted goals. I’m devastated for this man. His whole life he has been haunted by misery and the one thing or should I say person that gave him genuine joy im died, and it seems to be the one dead person he can’t (or won’t) conjure. I just love him so much I’d do anything for him ok?

"It wasn't very smart to take Brian's seat," I whisper almost to myself, and to be honest, David isn't really listening to me. "He told me all sorts of things about the army, about the possibility of me enlisting, about what… might be happening in Southeast Asia in the next few years…"

He stretches out his oversized legs on the sidewalk. "Probably an anti-militarist who preached against the war. The enlistment office is three doors down from Stadler's." My eyes squint a little painfully. "Is that your saying, or is it Brian's?" He holds his breath for a moment, then lets it go. He'ss aware I know him well, by now. "It's Brian's." And before I'm tempted to hold back, I ask him: "And what do ~you~ think?"

As a customer enters the hardware store and Brian's voice of greeting is heard in the background, he looks up at the sky in his turn - for quite a while - but I give him all the time he needs to talk.

"That my enlistment is not a question that can still be doubted". "I was talking about the guy".

At my words, I see David's fingers tighten on the glass of his Coke bottle. He hadn't expected me to ask that, and he flinches in a way that might have made me smile if I hadn't been so sad now. Now that I can distinctly percieve the energy inside people, I can sense clearly the attraction that - he - will choose to ignore. And I clarify right away, to avoid any confusion that would disturb him even more:

"Do you think he was really a peacenik?" "Oh," he sighs with relief. "I don't know about that." Eventually, he brings the straw to his lips and drinks the entire contents in one gulp. "I suppose peaceniks don't say they love you."
