'He was pretty ruthless in our performance reviews.'
'He always gave me five stars.'
What are people's interpretations of this scene because I can't work it out. From what we see Five had a good hold of his powers as a kid so it's feasible that he deserved five stars but I highly doubt the scores Reggie gave the kids were based on what they deserved. Alternate Reggie himself says,'I made you children feel small, confused about your own powers so that I could control you.' So why give Five a good review, especially when he was such an imperious, cocky little shit?
Is it that he was so arrogant he wouldn't have believed a lower score from Reggie and just ignored it and so he gave him five stars to motivate him as he would want to always maintain that level? Was recognising Five's talent a better and more reliable way of ensuring his compliance over trying to break him down? After all, when we see teenage Five get told he can't do something, his response is to, in fact, go and do that very thing.
Or was it more nefarious? Reggie realised Five's arrogance and self assuredness meant he could never control him in the same way he could the others and therefore believed him a liability. He couldn't do to him as he had to Viktor because Five and his siblings were all old enough to remember his powers and also having debuted those in the outside world knew about Five too. So instead, he decided to play into Five's arrogance, told him he was brilliant until he wanted to try time travel, and then firmly told him no, that he wasn't good enough. Because he wasn't wrong that time travel was dangerous but it would be a useful power for one of the Umbrellas to have, he could have started Five small, as he tells Five in the '60s, a lot can change in a matter of seconds. So could it be that he knew a denial would lead to Five choosing to attempt to prove him wrong and, as a result get lost in the future? Maybe he didn't know about him getting lost in the apocalypse but he knew Five's powers were volatile enough that he might not be able to get back, meaning trying to control him is no longer a concern for Reggie. Or maybe he thought Five would come back but with difficulty, leading to a loss in confidence, allowing him to make him feel small like the others.
Or maybe it was something else completely? I really can't tell, so would love others thoughts on this.

reginald lied to klaus about his death in 3x07. in 3x06, when klaus comes to visit him, it’s a day; it’s still a day when reginald electrocutes him to death:
Tumblr media
it’s night, when allison comes to the academy with harlan’s body in the trunk (and there’s also klaus’ body somewhere in the academy):
Tumblr media
and it seems only the NEXT DAY reginald takes klaus out for training. in 3x07, reginald tells klaus he remained dead for 22 minutes. so, klaus probably thinks it’s still the day when he told reginald about the white buffalo suite; the last thing he remembers is being electrocuted. reginald also adds that klaus was totally vulnerable, and he could’ve taken any of his organs. klaus is shocked, because why good ol’ reggie would do that, right?
the training starts at 1:15 p.m., reginald writes it down. logically, klaus’ 22-minute-long death should be listed as 001, but:
Tumblr media
it’s 004. 22 minutes - lower body (something something), and LACERATION? before that, 003 - failure (?).
between klaus’ FIRST electrocution and the bus-ball training, reginald had killed him not one, but four (FOUR!) times. and, most likely he did indeed try to cut him/cut out his organs (?) to check on how/if his dead body can heal itself. spoiler alert: klaus CAN HEAL HIMSELF even when he’s dead. later, we can see it in 3x09 when he comes back to life when the wound on his stomach has ALREADY healed. (so no one could steal his falling out guts, right? reginald knew. old bitch fucking knew).
so, i think reginald kept electrocuting klaus all night between 3x06-3x07 (with the method reginald chose, it could probably mess up klaus’ memories? he literally doesn’t remember shit except for being electrocuted one last time?) until he made sure that: a) klaus comes back fairly quick now (attempt 003 says 26 minutes, not bad, not bad!) and b) his body heals from any injuries so haha getting crashed with a car is not a big deal.

I spent the first hour of my 25th birthday thinking about Ben Hargreeves, as one does.
And thus I present…
A Collection of Ben Hargreeves Thoughts And Theories
- INSANELY misunderstood in my opinion
- There is a difference between how Ben was as a child versus who he is as a (ghost) adult
- The Hargreeves all remember the child Ben was, while Klaus knows who Ben became and loves him for it
- Ben as a child: sweet, quiet, kind, gentle, polite, snarky, serious, timid, fearful, still, obedient, know-it-all
- Ben as an adult: loyal, determined, jaded, unapologetic, realist, tough love, practical, sad, sarcastic, caring, desperate, annoyed
- Everyone says Ben was “the best of them” when they were teenagers; I imagine that he was always there for whoever needed it with a kind word or just a hand to hold. Ben just wants to help, I think that’s one trait that stayed with him into adulthood.
- He was afraid of the Horror growing up, obviously. He didn’t want to use it, we can assume from this that he never took pleasure in the death and destruction it brought. He literally says “I didn’t sign up for this.”
- Seemed to go along with Klaus’ pranks, even enjoy them. He might have had a bit of a wild side as a teenager that faded a bit after he died.
- We know he was scared to move on to the afterlife when he died. I think it was because he didn’t want to leave his family yet.
- He stayed with Klaus all those years, and he didn’t have to. He CHOSE to. I think he wanted to stay with Klaus, give him someone to hold on to and watch out for him no matter how frustrating it got.
- But even though he wouldn’t abandon Klaus, Ben very clearly got angry and frustrated and annoyed with him, and understandably so. He had to watch Klaus waste away the life he didn’t get to have.
- When he says as much to Klaus when they’re at the motel, I don’t think this was Ben choosing to rub the reality of his death in Klaus’ face. I don’t think he was doing it to be malicious, because that’s not Ben. I think that he was trying to give Klaus something else to focus on while he was reliving his trauma. Tough love - yeah, what he was saying was undoubtedly hard for Klaus to hear, and I’m sure Ben was airing out his own grievances, but I think it was in the name of distraction more than anything else. If Klaus could think about what Ben was going through instead of focusing on the memories, that could help him in the end.
- In regards to the S2 possession: I chalk that up to poor writing and poor characterization. Ben ASKING Klaus to possess him makes sense to me, but everything else that he does without consent I see as a failure to understand Ben’s character. After everything they went through as kids, after everything Ben himself went through, after the things he probably saw happen to Klaus on the streets, I simply refuse to believe that Ben would have “no regrets” about taking control of Klaus’ body like that. The person the writers have set up Ben to be prior to those scenes would NEVER have been okay with that. Honestly, in my mind, those Ben scenes are not canon.
-That being said, his decision to save Viktor makes perfect sense. As much as he clearly wanted to stay with Klaus, he knew he would finally make an impact on his sibling’s lives if he could get to Viktor and help him control his powers. Again, he showed Viktor tough love along with compassion: he didn’t let him give up.
- But wanting a hug as he goes? There’s the Ben they all knew as kids.
- I think he probably regretted not getting to tell Klaus the truth in his last moments, which is why he asks Viktor to do it. He didn’t want Klaus to carry around the guilt he must have felt at the idea that he made Ben stay. Ben, despite growing harder and more jaded in death, is still kindhearted.
- Predictably, dying greatly affected his personality and the way he saw things as he stayed with Klaus.

the frickin roach on the s3 TUA posters has been bugging me so much since the Klaus poster
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and now its there in the offical poster of the season climbing out of the crack in the floor near Klaus and im so. Frustrated. That I can't. Figure it out !!
Tumblr media
what does that bug mean ??? it Must be important because it keeps appearing. Is it another one of Klaus' powers or maybe a threat to him? or is it foreshadowing of his fate in the season ?????

So, I'm not good with theories so I'll just tell you guys some details and you think on the theories you want
First thing: Pennsylvania
There is a pennsylvania sticker on Klaus' suitcase and on that pictures from a scene of Five in a car there was a map of pennsylvania
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Second thing: Klaus is barefoot (again)
I don't remember right now if Klaus was barefoot on the posters of other seasons but I don't think so
In the other s3 posters he is barefoot too
Does this implice that Klaus is discovering that he has telecinesis when he is barefoot like in the comics? I hope so
Third thing: the Hotel Oblivion sticker
Luther, Diego and Klaus have a Hotel Oblivion sticker
Tumblr media
And Allison, who has this "O" in cursive
It took me a while to realise that this is an "O" from "Oblivion", probably
Tumblr media
Lila and Viktor have a Hotel Obsidian sticker
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Five don't have any Hotel Sticker
Fourth thing: the Comission sticker
Five and Lila have a sticker that says "the comission paradox protocols", probably because they worked for Comission
And is this paradox a psychosis parodox, idk
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's all the details I noticed that seemed interesting, if you have some more reply me :]

Thinking about Klaus’s ability to not die and all that that means for the umbrella academy
Because that means that when five teleported to the apocalypse, it was likely less than a day after it happened. That much can kinda be assumed with how their body’s weren’t like rotting and also all the fires were still actively going. But this makes it like an actual confirmation.
And I know lots of people (including myself) headcanon that five buried all his siblings and had a mini funeral for them. Which means Klaus would have come back to life while buried underground. And I know that he could have like chosen to stop coming back eventually but it’s so heartbreaking to imagine them just repeatedly coming back to life to see themselves still stuck underground with no explanation as to how. And maybe in the apocalypse timeline he spent his afterlife talking to his siblings, maybe they all realized that five was the one who gave them a makeshift funeral and burial.
Or if Five didn’t bury them, that means Klaus could have come back and been wondering around on the same earth, maybe he would have realized Five was still there or maybe not, but either way we know they never found each other.
And imagine how sad it is for Five, to learn that his brother is immortal, he would have realized he could have spent those 45 years Not alone. He could have grown up with company instead of being left with his own thoughts and a mannequin.
I also like to think about if any of those 56 times he’s died that Klaus’s mom mentions. Because how many of those happened within the time span of the series. Klaus would be about 33 (because of the almost year spent in Vietnam and the 3 years in the 60’s) and he likely didn’t start dying until around 8-10ish like what’s shown in the flashbacks to him as a child so that’s averaging about 5-7 deaths a year, which is assuming he’s dying as often now during the events of the series as he was before.
Likely he was dying a lot more often before the 60’s
And realistically he probably died a few times in Vietnam.
And I believe that one of those deaths is in episode one when he overdosed in the intro, because the EMT looks just as surprised as Klaus is that he survived that.
Most of his deaths are likely from overdosing or accidents such as falling off of the roof. But I still feel like we don’t acknowledge how 56 times is A LOT for the fact that he’s only 33.
It makes me worried for him season 4.
Anyways thanks for reading my funny little ramblings about this silly little show.

Last night I wast thinking about how it would be hard to film the Jennifer Incident bc all the teen actors for the Umbrellas would look way older than they did at Ben’s funeral in s2, and bringing in new actors would be kind of weird and jarring, and then it hit me that the perfect way to show it would be through another animated sequence.
It doesn’t have to use the framing sequence of Allison telling the story to Claire again, like it was in s1, although that could maybe work if they do it right. The main reason I think it would be a good artistic decision to have it be animated instead of live-action, is because it would communicate that Ben’s death was such a painful part of the Umbrella’s childhoods that it’s hard for them to look back on the reality of it. It was so traumatizing seeing their brother die in front of their eyes that they can only look back in a simplified/less gory way.
I think it would also play into the fact that all of the Umbrellas, besides Klaus, have put their Ben on a pedestal since his death. Over time, they’ve washed away his flaws and embiggened his positive qualities. Instead of seeing the real Ben die, the Umbrellas, and us, the audience, would see a perfected/imagined Ben die.

Theory: Klaus ends up finally being able to control the ghosts in this scene
Tumblr media
And that connects to Allison maybe looking for him or something and the ghosts go for her or maybe his telekinesis finally comes into play?
Tumblr media
Comparing the wispy texture and colour of the energy to the kugelblitz here that seems way fainter and doesn't actually physically interact with things but rather pass through them and then disintegrate them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And Viktor's powers.
Tumblr media
Viktor's power has a slight outline, like Five's does when he jumps, when he lets out a blast. Plus, the colour is a much stronger blue.
Compare these to Klaus summoning the ghosts in the trailer.
Tumblr media
While not the exact same, neither the Kugelblitz nor Viktor or Five's powers have the same green tint they've included in Klaus' powers this season. This helps distinguish his powers from the others.

TUA theory time! People most likely beat me to it already, but here we go
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Detail 1: The direction
Diego, Five and Lila are the only people who aren't facing front in the posters. Idk about you, but the direction they're facing can mean something. It always does. They could be working together again. It parallels them teaming up in S2, so that would be cool.
Detail 2: The briefcases
Whoever has briefcases down might have meaning as well. Allison, Lila and Diego have them down, and they are sitting. We know that those standing and holding the briefcases up will split from the family, and go somewhere outdoors.
Tumblr media
Oh, they are definately going somewhere.
There's a possibility that Klaus and Five would go see the world's biggest ball of twine. Luther and Viktor appeared to have seen something... Surprising outside. Though, Idk where they were in that "first look" photo.
Detail 3: The stickers
They all have names of places on their briefcases. There have been theories circulating that those are their birth places.
Some of them have the same stickers in their briefcases. Everyone except Five and Allison have a Hotel Obsidian or "H+O 1920" sticker.
Lila and Five both have "The Commission | Paradox Protocols" stickers.
Allison's 3rd sticker could be a symbol representing something in the show (maybe a place?), the hotel (O), the number 6, or an ability (Five's or Allison's)
Five's umbrella sticker isn't positioned upright.
Viktor's Hotel Obsidian sticker has a book symbol at the center, and words around the circle (so does Klaus).
Could the book be Reginald's? If he discovers another book that holds secrets (possibly about the Sparrows and the Hotel), this would be a parallel to when he found out about the truth of himself in S1.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm unable to make out the words aside from the Hotel's name (possibly fake name or another hotel that they mistake for Oblivion), "[?] luggage"? (Klaus' briefcase) and "The [?] street" (Viktor's briefcase).
Edit: Thank you @leave-the-pot-dear and @galaxyyy-stars for pointing out that Klaus' sticker says "guest luggage".

Do y'all think the reason God dislikes Klaus is just being bored of the whole death and resurrection thingy?
I mean, I'm imagining god being like "for my sake, here comes this imbecile dying again"
Like, maybe this girl has to do paperwork or smth for all deaths and Klaus being a Thembo with no sense of self preservation is endless work for her?

Watching this season, and everything that happened with klaus and his "training" with reginald, i feel like a certain (i don't want to call it a theory but i don't have any other name for it so..) "theory" of mine got a little bit stronger.
We see reginald constantly checking the time on his watch on the series, but when he starts klaus' "training" we see he uses it to meassure time between klaus' deaths and coming back to lifes. He starts at 22 minutes apprently, only for it to get shorter every time he dies and comes back to life again until he manages to do it in a matter of seconds.
With this information, i think that, maybe, in the first appocalipse, it wasn't that klaus didn't came back to life...
I think he DID came back to life, but he actually took too long doing it, giving five the chance to bury his body before he noticed klaus was alive......

Okay so, this is an entirely new timeline. New in the sense that reggie now owns half of the fucking city, he’s got his wife babe Abigail and the brellies don’t have powers.
But it goes beyond that, the Umbrella academy never existed, likely never existed back in the 60s either. The “Kennedy 6” never having been there.
Klaus doesn’t have his tattoos. Not just missing the umbrella one, because he wasn’t in the umbrella academy that didn’t exist, his hand tattoos too, because he wasn’t a human Ouija board, if he wasn’t a human ouija board surely he can’t have his skull tattoo, which means he wouldn’t have known Dave. This is like an entirely new universe rather than timeline.
But that makes me think, going off the idea that the commission killed Dave to send Klaus back to 2019, is Dave still alive, as an old man? Did he make it through the Vietnam war? (We aren’t even going to mention aids) is he living a happy gay life after all? Having never ever known Klaus or met him.
Allison made a deal with Reggie so she could have Claire and Raymond, so I guess, unfortunately, Dave hasn’t materialised in 2019 the way Raymond did. Cissy and Harlan never knew Viktor, Harlan never had to go through that shit (they’re very likely still on the farm :()
Leonard could potentially still be alive, (maybe he never killed his father? Or was that always going to happen?) Patch could still be alive etc

Five’s appearence
So, uh, Ig everything that happened in the last 3 seasons just… didn’t happen anymore, right?
Every trace remaining from the Original Lives (tattoos, damage, scars, and even death) have been erased. Diego’s scars, Klaus’ tattoos and possible internal damage caused by constant use of drugs and alcohol, Luther’s death, Five’s missing limb, it’s all erased. This leads me to believe that all the things that they acquired through life are gone because that life didn’t happen.
However, there is one thing that remains: Five’s appearance.
We know this isn’t Five’s natural appearance. He’s in his late 50s. It doesn’t make any sense that he remains a 13yo.
Assuming that this is Reginald’s perfect universe (since Allison only pressed the button) I would have assumed that the apocalypse didn’t happen, given that the whole point of his death in S1 was to bring the Umbrellas back to avoid it. Ans now that he has his creepy dead bride back, i doubt he’d want to risk it all again for nothing.
The Commission likely also no longer exists since Five no longer has the missing arm and tattoo that Old Founder Five did. But if the Commission no longer exists, nothing preserves the timeline and no one rescued Five from the apocalypse.
HOWEVER, these Five and Viktor don’t have powers.
If Viktor doesn’t have any powers he couldn’t have caused the apocalypse (once again, perfect for Reggie if he doesn’t want the world to end)
But if there is no apocalypse, Five couldn’t have jumped to it and gotten stuck there for 40+ years, and thus he couldn’t have made a contract with the Commission and made wrong calculations and gotten stuck in his teen body… also, Five doesn’t even have powers, thus he couldn’t have jumped even if there were an apocalypse!
My point here is that if nothing from all the previous seasons happened, it makes no sense that Five still looks 13yo. He should look 30, like his siblings, because he didn’t get stuck in the apocalypse and thus didn’t age more than his siblings. Either this is a plothole (likely due to not wishing to change the actor for Five, thank god cuz Gallagher is amazing), or there will be a whole bigger mess due to Five’s existence.
Also! 1 last thought because my braincells are burning:
Do y’all think Lila is still pregnant? Hopeful thinking aside, all traces of the past life disappeared, and the pregnancy is a trace from the 60s, and neither Reginald nor Allison knew of the pregnancy.
