a little birdie told me you wanted fall themed fic ideas, so here I am!!
I feel like a cute fall themed idea is a coffee date and then a walk through the local park where you admire the colors of the leaves!!
And turns out the day is quite windy, but the reader didn't bring their jacket, so the character gives them their own jacket so the reader won't be cold😭😭❤❤
Is it kinda basic? Yeah, but I feel like you could make this into something really cute
Thank you for believing in me, because I actually came up with a pretty cute idea for this :')
Pairing: Tsukishima Kei x gn!reader
WC: 769
A/N: In Japan around this time of year, they celebrate Tsukimi, aka the moon viewing festival. I really love the idea of it, and so the idea to incorporate it into a fic popped into my head! And of course, who better to write it for than our own Tsukki?? The play on words is, of course, that Tukishima's family name contains the character for the moon (Tsuki).
Tumblr media
"Look at this!" The poster just catches your eye as you're leaving the coffee shop. It's advertising a Tsukimi event at the nearby park, and it's this evening. "This month has gone by so fast, I almost forgot that it's Tsukimi already!"
Kei leans in to get a closer look at the poster and merely hums in acknowledgement. You tug on his hand. "C'mon, why don't we go? It's only a few blocks away, and it's such a perfect evening." You gesture up at the clear sky, already in its full sunset glory.
"You sure?" He raises an eyebrow. "You don't even have your coat," He points out, and you shrug your shoulders in your t-shirt.
"It's not even cold today! Don't try to make excuses just so you can be a stick in the mud." You pause, donning your best pleading look. "Please?"
He sighs, but his grip on your hand tightens. "Well, alright," He agrees, and you grin. "Only because you said please."
You laugh softly. "Thanks, Kei." You swing your linked hands lightly between you. The walk to the park isn't far. When you get there, you find it strung with soft lights, and a few small food and drink stands are giving off delightful smells.
"I guess you want some dango?" He gestures to the nearby stall, and you nod quickly. It wouldn't be Tsukimi without dango. With your snack acquired, you soon make your way to one of the benches set up throughout the park. You have a clear view of the sky once seated, and you look up into the darkening twilight.
"How soon do you think the moon's going to rise?" You ask, glancing at your boyfriend.
He shrugs. "How should I know?" He slides his arm around your shoulders, and you gladly settle in closer to him. Now that the sun is gone, the warm autumn day is turning into a cool autumn night. You try not to shiver in the cool breeze, not wanting to prove him right about the jacket.
You try to keep up a conversation, but it isn't long before you're clenching your teeth to keep them from chattering. "You're not cold, are you?" Kei asks with a smirk, and you shake your head stubbornly.
"I'm fine." You force out.
"Sure," He says, pulling his arm away and letting even more cool air against your skin. You can't help hugging your arms around yourself. Before you can react, he shrugs out of the jacket he's wearing and drapes it across your shoulders with a click of his teeth.
"I don't want you to be cold," You mumble even as you pull the jacket tighter around you, relishing the body heat still clinging to the fabric.
"It's not even cold today," He mimics your earlier words in a squeaky voice, and you immediately punch his shoulder.
"You're so mean to me!"
"Only because you deserve it," He shoots back, sliding his arm around you again and giving your shoulder a gentle squeeze when you pout. His fingertips skim your arm through the fabric of his jacket, and you rest your head in the crook of his neck.
Soon enough, the moon does make its appearance, and you lift your head to look up at it more fully. The autumn moon really does look larger than normal, and seems to shine just a little bit brighter through the crisp night air.
Eventually, you can't help it. You shift your gaze from the moon in the sky to the man beside you. The moonlight softens his features, and your eyes trace the curve of his nose. You feel warmth swelling in your middle the longer you look at him, taking a few moments to memorize his moonlit face in this moment.
"What are you doing?" He finally turns to you, as if sensing your gaze on him.
"Viewing the moon," You answer nonchalantly with the beginnings of a cheeky smile. He rolls his eyes.
"I was wondering how long it was going to take," He sighs at your joke, his exasperated look almost strong enough to disguise the soft smile quirking at the corners of his lips.
"What?" You ask innocently, and reach to sandwich his face between your palms. "You're my moon, Kei."
"You're insufferable," He replies softly, but he closes the gap between you and presses his lips to yours. His fingers soon come up to cup your face, and he deepens the kiss.
"But you love me anyway?" You ask when he finally pulls away.
"Yeah," He says in a low voice, thumb grazing your cheek. "Unfortunately."

"Be on your best behavior y'all. They're a great childhood friend of mine. I wish I could have met them outside here but unfortunately our schedule is all packed. That's why I'm saying, Do. not. be rude. or weird. Specially you Tsukishima."
"I- " Could he have said anything, a bouncing human asked in excitement, shutting him off, "Ne Ne Shimizu Senpai! Tell us a little more about your friend! "
Suga smiled , " Yeah Shimizu. It would help us understand them better. "
She sighed, pushing the glasses up the bridge of her nose, "They're American, born here but brought up there. Most of their personality reflects the said foreign culture. They're shifting here as a foreign exchange student in first year. It might be a bit difficult to understand their accent, but do. not. make it obvious if that's the case. And-"
The doors swung open, waking in was a mesmerizing figure. "Kiyoko-San! "
"What the-oof-! " Shimizu was tackled in an unexpectedly hard hug.
"I-I can't breathe-" You pulled away sheepishly, "My bad... "
Soon enough the new entrance was encircled with a group of dashing boys. You waved at them, " Shimizu-San mentioned about ya all. Name's (Y/n)! Pleasure to meet uh all! " You smiled warmly.
Instead of a greeting back, you heard a, "You're so damn pretty!! " You looked over to the two short boys, slight warmth engulfing you at the compliment. "T-Thank you. You are...? "
"Right! I'm Hinata and this is my buddy Nishinoya. " You smiled and soon everyone started introducing themselves. Suffice to say everyone was a lot more kinder and sweet to you than you thought.
"I'm Sugawara. A third year. You can come to me if you need help around here."
You bowed slightly," I'll be in your care then Sugawara-San. Am grateful. " You both smiled and soon your eyes drifted off at the corner.
"Umm... who's that..? " Suga looked behind him before looking at you again. "Oh that's Tsukishima. A first year. But I think you shouldn't get involved with him to-" Before he finished, you were gone.
"Hey! Tsukishima right? " You smiled lightly with your hands behind your back. He stood silently, ignoring you. "'s there somethin wrong..? Do ya not like me or something? " "Damn right I don't so leave me alone. " voice holding venom as he started making his way away from you, purposely bumping your shoulder.
You arked, "The hell's yer problem huh? " Your voice rose a little.
At a distance, Kageyama and Hinata gave each other a silent look that said, "Uh-Oh"
Asahi was about to make his way towards you both when Kiyoko stopped him. "They can handle themselves don't worry. "
Tsukishima turned around," 'The hell's yer problem huh? ' " He mocked as your fist clenched "Can you fucking leave me alone? I was having a wonderful time until your disturbing American self who can't even speak our language properly freaking disrupted it. " Salt dripped with each word of his and so did your patience with each passing second. Your jaw clenched, "Don't approach me. I don't have time to show a lost puppy around here like everyone else. " He turned around, silence engulfing the court when your silent words rang. " You think ya look cool with that attitude of yer's don't uh? "
He turned around slightly, eyebrow raised as you laughed slightly. Kiyoko silently mumbled, "He's dead. " as other members looked at her with wide eyes. "You six-one godforsaken pine tree. " Your figure stormed towards him, looking at him with steely eyes. "Listen here ya shit. I don't fucking care what that peanut sized brain of yer thinks. Do. Not. try and give me yer stupid shit when I'm being nice to uh. You think you're slick? What? You think I don't know about yer little dinosaur fetish huh? " His eyes widened , " What? Think you're the only verbal president here that can mock someone and their habit with words? Think you can just walk round like a dog without leash going on and spatting shit on everyone? Well guess what fucker, I'm not gonna hear about your bullshit so get that through your thick skull. "
Silence was once again the only thing in the room as the doors to the gym closed as you stormed out. Everyone was stunned, too amazed yet awkward to speak. Only came a mumble from in between the crowd, " They destroyed him." Kei's figure approached his team's manager, his words strangely quite, "We should start practicing. "
It was only about an hour later when you were sitting on the benchers, guilt overcoming you waves after waves for the past hour. 'I went too far didn't I...? I shouldn't have said all that.... '
The door to the gym once again opened as everyone turned around, looking at your quite figure walking inside, head towards the floor and hands behind your back. The practice stopped as Kiyoko approached you. "Can I talk to him? " You voice was quite and without needing an explanation, she nodded understandingly. There he was now standing in front of you and before he could ask you what was up, you quickly extended your hands, holding something out for him. "I-I apologize for what I said earlier. I went too overboard. It wasn't my place to bring up yer personal stuff and do that to uh. Here, take this as an apology. " His figure was unmoving, mind registering your words and eyes scanning your figure until they eventually stopped on your hands holding a dinosaur plushie. "Don't worry. It's not unsanitary or anythin. I just purchased it before comin to Japan. Bought it to give it to uh in the first place." Your head was sideways as warmth started consuming your cheeks. A good few minutes after when you thought to retract your hand and that your apology was in vain, his hand reached out, taking the plushie. No words were exchanged between the two any further but everyone knew it was somehow a start of a beautiful friendship.... and maybe something more in the future.
Kiyoko just smiled slightly 'Cliche yet cute.

a tsukishima imagine where y’all are dating but he introduces you as his friend and not his gf? something angsty please!!
Note: Hi, thank you so much for the request! It means a lot. ❤️
“We are just friends” - Kei Tsukishima
Tumblr media
“Do you want to watch a movie tonight?” Tsukishima asked as he leaned over the wall where she was laying.
Y/n smiled at the sudden invitation.
“Of course babe.” Y/n answered sweetly.
She hasn’t spent much time with her boyfriend since he has his volleyball practices.
“Great, then it’s a date.” Tsukishima muttered.
He leaned into her and grabbed her cheek.
“K-Kei.” Y/n stutter at the sudden physical touch.
“I just missed you.” Tsukishima said as he leaned to kiss her but was interrupted by some sudden footsteps.
“Tsukishima.” Yamaguchi said nervously.
Tsukishima looked behind him, seeing a nervous Yamaguchi besides Kageyama and Hinata.
‘Shit’ Tsukishima thought.
“Tsukishima, who’s that?” Hinata asked happily.
“I-Is s-she your girlfriend?’ Kageyama said as he stutter nervously.
Yamaguchi looked at Tsukishima nervously, he knew about their secret relationship.
“H-Hey.” Y/n said sweetly.
‘What does she think she’s doing?!’ Tsukishima thought.
“You guys must be Kei’s teammates.” Y/n said sweetly.
“Y-Yeah.” Kageyama stutter.
‘She calls him by his first name?’ Kageyama thought.
Y/n smiled at the stuttering boy.
“I’m Y/n.” Y/n said as she giggled.
“Are you Tsukishima’s girlfriend?” Hinata asked smiling.
“Well—” Y/n was going to answer but was interrupted by her highly strung boyfriend.
“We’re just friends.” Tsukishima said bluntly.
Y/n looked at him, disappointed and saddened by his sudden and coldly answer.
“Oh, i-is just that y-you were going to kiss her.” Kageyama stutter.
Tsukishima grunted in annoyance.
“I wasn’t, what would I do that?” Tsukishima asked hostilely.
His words were being hurtful,
But he didn’t notice.
“Whatever.” Tsukishima said as he left walking with her.
‘Is none of their business anyways.’ Tsukishima thought.
The walk to his house was silent and uncomfortable.
Tsukishima knew something was up.
She was always talking and laughing on their walks.
And now she was sitting on his bed very quietly.
“You haven’t said anything since we left.” Tsukishima said.
Y/n just looked at him a nodded sadly.
“Kei.” Y/n said.
Tsukishima looked at her as he was looking for a movie.
“Hmm?” Tsukishima hummed.
She knows she needs to be honest with him, otherwise their relationship wouldn’t work.
“About what you said earlier...” Y/n muttered.
“What did I say?” Tsukishima asked bluntly.
“That we were just friends...” Y/n said nervously.
“I see.” Tsukishima said bluntly.
“It hurt me.” Y/n said softly.
Tukishima sighed annoyed.
“I- I mean, we are in a relationship, shouldn’t we be free?” Y/n asked nervously confused.
“Is not a big deal.” Tsukishima grunted.
Y/n sighed and looked away.
“I- I just want to be able to walk with you, hold your hand... kiss you.” Y/n said painfully.
“Can’t you just wait until we are alone?” Tsukishima asked with attitude.
“W-What?” Y/n asked painfully.
“You’re being a cry baby for nothing.” Tsukishima said bluntly.
“F-For nothing?!” Y/n asked with attitude.
‘D-Did she just talk to me with an attitude?’ Tsukishima thought.
“Why do you need to hide me so much?” Y/n asked again.
Tsukishima grunted angrily.
“I- I’m not hiding you!” Tsukishima yelled.
“Yes, you’re. You hide me to talk to me, you don’t want me near the gym, you don’t want me in your games, you don’t want me to even look at you.” Y/n said angrily.
“I just don’t want anyone to know your my girlfriend, why is that such a big deal?” Tsukishima asked bluntly.
“Am I embarrassing?!” Y/n asked furiously.
Tsukishima was not having it, she was yelling at him.
They were having their first fight and he didn’t know how to managed it.
“Stop.” Tsukishima said bluntly.
“What? I’m not even finish.” Y/n said angrily.
“Just shut up.” Tsukishima repeated.
“What? I’m not going to because you’re going to listen, I have a lot to say.” Y/n said angrily.
“Ugh, why do you have to be so annoying. No wonder why you don’t have friends!” Tsukishima screamed without thinking.
‘Wait’ Tsukishima thought immediately as those words came out.
“D-Do you really think that?” Y/n asked painfully.
She was hurt by his sudden outburst comment.
He knew she didn’t have friends, in fact— he was her only friend.
Her only friend was her boyfriend.
“I- I have to go.” Y/n said painfully.
Tsukishima immediately grabbed her hand.
“Y-Y/n.” Tsukishima said.
“No.” Y/n said while breaking in tears.
“I-I’m sorry.” Tsukishima tried saying.
“Leave me alone.” Y/n said as she left.
He knew he hurt her, he used her trust against herself.
He knew how hard it was for her to get friends.
He knew how much he meant to her.
And he used one of her insecurities against her.
He knew he fucked up.
“Is everything okay?” Akiteru asked worried.
Tsukishima sighed in response.
“I heard yelling...” Akiteru said worried.
“J-Just leave me alone.” Tsukishima grunted.

Sometimes it was the smallest comments that you just can’t seem to brush off no matter how hard you try. They just bury themselves and play on loop in your inner dialogue, you try to shake it off, you’ve heard your boyfriend say much worse after all but still the whole day your mind would drift back to the blonde’s words.
Maybe it was nothing more than the straw that broke the camel's back, it was just a throwaway comment about your new haircut. Nothing more than a ‘I liked it before’ you didn’t even have time to react before Yamaguchi jumped in complementing you, giving his friend a light glare. It wasn’t even a dramatic style or length change, just a light trim.
It really wasn’t the words themselves that hurt so much as the fact Tsukishima hadn’t seemed to notice that they bothered you. That or he didn’t care.
You had known Kei was not one to mince his words or give anyone special treatment. He did have his own soft moments that were shared in private but he certainly didn’t change a lot of his behaviour when you started dating, you knew who you were getting involved with.
Of course that didn’t stop your heart from aching when he continued the day as if nothing happened, as if he didn’t see you nervously fiddle with your freshly cut hair.
-
Classes came and passed, the whole time it felt like the lump in your throat was about to explode. It became a normal occurrence, hiding the feeling that absolutely anything could set you off throughout the day. It was a slow build to this point, so slow that you hardly noticed until earlier in the week when you got a test you thought you’d aced back with a less than ideal score. Tsukishima and Yamaguchi had teased you about it, you had been boasting the whole morning about how well you felt about it and they of course went straight to teasing. That was what your group dynamic was after all but it still hurt.
You would have missed the sound of the final bell if it wasn’t for the two tall volleyball players that towered over your desk.
“Whatcha daydreaming about y/n?” The green haired boy asked with a light laugh.
“Oh nothing, nothing” you wave him off just a half hearted smile as you start to pack up your unused notebook. Tsuki must have noticed your lack of notes as he raised his eyebrow, you avoided his gaze, there was no way you could look him in the eyes right now.
The walk home felt miles longer than it had every other day, it seemed all the tense built up in your head had manifested and weighed down around you.
“What’s got you in such a shitass mood?”
You stopped in your tracks. Were you wearing a sour expression? You brush off the thought as the clogs in your brain clicked into place, finally processing what your boyfriend asked you.
The words got caught in your throat, your inner dialogue tripping over itself trying to produce the right words. Why were you in a ‘shitass mood’ as the blonde so eloquently put it. You weren’t so superficial and sensitive that a mere comment on your hair had made you feel like this. You were just so exhausted, every night felt the day and every morning you seemed to stumble out of bed later and later. You just so exhausted and wanted nothing more than a small compliment from the boy you cared about more than anything.
You felt ridiculous, and childish needing words of affirmation so desperately right now.
Your vision was blurred as you realized you had started to cry, a sob croaked from your throat before you could try and stop it. It was all too much for you to handle, you ran off, taking the long way home.
Tsukishima and Yamaguchi stood wild eyed for a moment, neither of them had ever seen you like that before, so vulnerable.
The next thing Tsuki knew he was jerked back with a sudden shove. He tried to ask what his problem was but the freckled boy shouted first.
“What’s wrong with you? Are you that clueless?”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“I’m talking about the fact that your significant other is clearly going through something and you can’t even be bothered to notice or care! And then you go and say you liked the way they looked before, you can’t be that stupid.”
Yamaguchi only yelled like this with reason, Tukishima knew this, he knew he fucked up.
“Shit…” he muttered, leaving in the direction of your house.
-
There was a light knock on your window, you knew it had to be one of the duo. Your head felt a bit more clear now so you tentatively opened the pane, the blonde after a lot of effort finally fumbled his way into your room.
“Why did you come to my window instead of the door?”
“Thought you’d ignore it.” he said with a shrug.
You nod, sitting back on your bed trying to avoid his calculating gaze.
“y/n, listen I’m sorry-” “Kei it’s okay I know it was stupid” you interrupt, “I just haven’t been doing too great lately I guess and well it broke me…”
You knew he wasn’t one to mince words, but moments like these, where he didn’t say anything and just held you made you forget at least for the moment how overwhelming your mind felt.
You felt Tsukishima pull away slightly and lay a small kiss on your forehead making you giggle. “I didn’t know the Tsukishima Kei could be so soft” you tease, trying to lighten the mood.
“Yeah yeah..” he pinched your side “...Yamaguchi yelled at me so I knew it was serious. But next time tell me when you’re feeling like this, I’ll try and help”

I wrote a small little head canon I had of Tsukishima into a little story and uhhh.... here ya go....
“Bye Yamaguchi!”
“Bye!” The green haired boy called out, waving a small hand behind him and turning into his street. Almost immediately the smaller girl, walking along side the tall blond pivoted to face him.
“You should’ve said bye.” She lectured half-heartedly, going to pluck off the blond’s headphones.
“Hmm.” He hummed before turning to face the girl. Her eyes sparkled lightly in the sun as she brought his headphones to cover her ears. The girl slightly scrunched up her nose before grabbing Tukishima’s phone from his pocket as well.
Feeling graphically violated and invaded of his privacy, he raised an eyebrow in the girls direction.
“You have your music playing too loud.” She said simply before dodging her eyes around. “Like always.” She added and then resumed to remove the headphones from her ears. She held them out and the blond went to reach for them with a squint in his eyes.
She seemed to always find something to lecture him over. ‘You’re room is messy. You’re music is too loud. You didn’t say bye to Tadashi.’
“Well maybe if you didn’t talk to much my music wouldn’t have to be so loud.” The blond said with a blink. The girl rolled her eyes and went to shove the giant lightly.
“Insult me all you want. I know you Kei. You’re a big softy.” His heart made a small skip at the way she sounded out the last syllable in his first name in mockery.
“You’re delusional.”
“I’m right.” She stated finally before smiling and handing the blond back his phone. He took it back with another raised brow but didn’t get an answer this time because the two had stumbled upon his house.
Without hesitation, the two climbed into the house and up the stairs to Tsukishima’s room, yelling a small greeting to Akiteru in the room next door.
“So have you beat that game yet?” The girl asked eagerly, eyeing the game consul with an excited spark.
“You’re not already going to start procrastinating are you?” She held up her hand to her heart in mock defense.
“Kei. You know I’m physically incapable of not doing so~” he hummed in response and slid off his school bag to sit by the leg of his chair.
“Come on.” He grumbled and the small girl made her way over to the desk lazily a whining lag in her steps. “You’ll fail if I don’t help you.”
“Thanks for the faith.”
“It’s only the truth.”
“Hmm.”
~~ # ~~
The darkly lit sky shinned through the blinds and pulled curtains in the small, surprisingly neat room.
Tsukishima sat across his bed lazily, only half paying attention to what his friend was saying from below him as he read off the small notes on the paper he held in only one hand. His other hand stayed eerily still on the smaller girls arm where it had fallen earlier.
In all honestly, he quite liked it there, feeling her warmth spread to his finger tips, then up his arms, then to his whole body. Then again, she hadn’t seemed to notice it at all and so to reach it back, he might startle the girl into realization. Something he didn’t really want to face. He was already holding back a deep blush from forming on his cheeks at the position the two teens were in.
Laying across his outstretched lap was the head of his little friend, halfheartedly reading out the list of civilizations she had been supposed to memorize the week prior. She stopped suddenly and turned her head back over slightly to face her taller friend with hopeful eyes.
“You-“ missed one. He had wanted to say, but when he saw the way her eyes were only half open and her hair fell lazily out of her bun from all the frustrated tugging she’d been doing, he couldn’t bring himself to say it. He stared into her half-lidded eyes and turned away to hide the small smile he felt pushing it’s way through. “You’re good.”
“Ugh thank GOD!” She said and only now did he realize how tired her voice sounded. She tossed aside the journal in her hand and picked up her phone from besides her form on the bed. Her fingers moved across the screen lazily as she replied to the people who she had ignored over the past three hours due to Tsukishima’s request.
And Tsukishima thought he ought to stay home from school tomorrow because he must be sick. The way his heart pounded in his chest as he lightly began to run comforting circles on the girls arm with his thumb. His skin felt pale and sweaty and like it could falls off at any moment with how much he wanted to shake with .... what was the feeling anyway?
“Go to sleep.” He mumbled before he could stop himself. There was only a small hmphf in reply and with little surprise he realized that the girl had already dropped down her phone once again and her eyes were closed.
Suddenly, Tsukishima became painfully aware of all the places where their skin met. How her head rested so vulnerably in his lap. It shocked him how must trust she must have in him and somewhere in the back of his mind he knew he returned it. Every last bit.
“Woah. Kei’s smiling...” her voice was slurred with sleep (yet the mocking in his first name was still present) and there was a small loopy grin on her face.
Only when she said that did Tsukishima realize he did indeed have a small smile plastered on his face.
“You’re such an idiot.” Was the only thing he could really think of to say.
“Goodnight Kei.” She mumbled and shuffled ever so slightly, further into his lap. But the movement didn’t bother him as much. He was too busy taking in what she had said. How she called him by his first name, no joke implied. She didn’t draw out the last syllable like she always did in an attempt to get under skin. No, she just said it. Addresses him informally with no hesitation and no immediate regret, at least from what he could tell.
And for some reason, he really liked it.
“ ‘night.” He mumbled quietly. And even though his neck wasn’t in the most comfortable position, and his thumb was getting quite tired from the soothing circles he drew on her arm, he stayed exactly where he was. Not wanting to jolt the girl awake. But more importantly, wanting to stay in this moment for as long as he could.
How simply they fit together astounded him.
But, he liked it.
A lot.

Tsikishima is a power bottom. Change my mind. Like, he likes to be the one receiving affection and crap, but no one knows because he acts like such a p r i c k (we love him, tho)
Thank you so much for the request!! I love Tsukishima, like its even annoying! Like this prick has my heart. So yes I see exactly what you mean, let me explain. I might have gone a little overboard with this, oops, also I hope he is not OOC, I have such a hard time writing for Tsukki because he is my favorite.
Tukishima Kei
So Tsukki completely shut off everyone after he felt betrayed by his brother, he grew up then wanting nothing to do with anyone.
This resulted in him receiving little to no affection, with the slight exception of the quality time spent with Yamaguchi. Boy has not been hugged in years, sweet words and gestures are none from anyone who is not his freckled friend, however he WANTED it that way.
Still, it was not always like that so considering it was due to personal conviction let’s say this boy is absolutely affection starved without even knowing. He will deny it, but when he sees people sweet with each other something in him just stirs, which prompts a snarky remark about how pathetic it actually is.
However when he starts dating someone it gets harder to ignore, especially since that someone had to break past most his walls to get him to like them. They grab his attention due to this; small gestures like waiting for him, giving him music recommendations, sharing their lunch, laughing and answering to his banter, things that show they care.
Caring pfft what is that to Kei? Apparently it does matter to him, having someone genuinely care about him is possible, and they don’t even ask for anything back, it’s just because it’s HIM. This takes him by surprise which means he will have a hard time wrapping his head around it.
Relationships with him have to go slow, mainly because he is not used to it and is quiet wary, which translates into him being cold and sometimes a little harsh. Slowly but steadily he will admit that he enjoys this and the moment he snaps it’s because of something they did, something small like visiting him after a match to see how he is doing, even a slight compliment, it just feels better than he imagined.
He will NOT tell this to anyone, people will know Tsukishima enjoys infection over his cold dead body. He will now show it on public and barely on private, and its most likely followed by mockery or hidden within it. He is good at hiding what he feels.
Specially on public he will not do much, he will not complain about things they say or do enjoying them silently, PDA is a no from him. However sometimes he might lean on them, run circles on their legs and hands provided they are sitting down; really subtle things that most will not notice.
He also banters as a way of showing affection, like this prick will mock them a lot because he loves them and thats just how he rolls
When he is alone with them he will be in close proximity, most of the times in comfortable silence as he has an arm wrapped around them, if they hug him he will pull them closer without even speaking. If he is specially tired he will even nuzzle his head and he just feels better, it just feels right, he will never tell them this but his contempt sighs are enough.
He has a hard time showing affection, but once they learn his love language it becomes so evident. It is mostly by what he does for them. He is grateful to be cared about, he will let them know in his sneaky small ways, and he appreciates that they accept his ways of doing so.
They need to be genuine, if they win his trust this way braking it would end up in him shutting away even worse than before.
Take care of this prick

Hi! I just saw that you were asking for requests on soft/dad stuff, I have a couple but if they don’t inspire you feel free to ignore! 1) Convincing Noya to be the small spoon during movie night when he gets too banged up during practice 2) Driving with one of the boys (your choice) and when it’s their turn with the aux they accidentally put on their playlist of songs that remind them of you 🥺 3) Date at the fair with Iwaizumi but you end up beating him at the most of the prize games 💀💀
Hi!!! So I love all of these ;-; the first one that really struck me was #2 so that’s what I’ll write now, and I’m also going to be incorporating #3 into an ask a bit later on :3 and who knows, #1 might come up sometime! I’ll write #2 for none other than our saltyshima hehe ❤️
Driving with Tukishima and when it’s his turn with the aux he accidentally puts on his playlist of songs that remind him of you
-
By the time you leave the convenience store, twilight has started to fall. Kei is standing by the car, and you hand him the drink you’d bought while he pumped the gas. “I got us a sweet bread to share,” You lift the bag to show off the treat, and he grins.
“Sounds good to me, as long as you don’t hog it all.” He twists the lid off of his drink and takes a long swig, ignoring your pout.
“Rude,” You huff, sticking out your tongue at him over the roof of the car before you open the door to get back in. Tearing the bag open and using it to protect your lap, you make an exaggerated show of breaking the bread into two perfectly even halves. When Kei gets in on the driver’s side, he watches you with an amused smirk on his face. When you present his half to him, he holds it up next to yours with a scrutinizing expression.
“They’re even, you dork!” You give his shoulder a shove, and he just laughs as he finally takes a big bite of the bread. You set your half back on your lap, reaching for the aux cord and your phone.
“No way,” He says, snatching it away from you and plugging it into his phone instead, “I listened to your shitty music for the last hour and a half, you can listen to mine for the next hour.”
“You introduced me to half of that shitty music,” You remind him, pleased when he doesn’t seem to have a comeback to that. He scrolls through his phone for a few moments before turning the car on. The song that starts to play is softer than you’d expected, and you glance at him out of the corner of your eye as he pulls back out onto the road.
He frowns slightly, reaching out and punching the “skip” button. You think you recognize the next song that comes on. It’s an older song, and it brings back the memory of that last get-together with the team in third year, sitting around the fire talking and laughing, and the way he’d pulled you close and pressed a kiss to your lips when no one else was looking. You feel a smile coming onto your face.
After about thirty seconds, he skips this song, too. You remember the next one because the first time you’d heard it was through a single earbud - he’d had the other one, and you remember how he’d watched you, probably trying to gauge your reaction to the song he’d wanted you to listen to.
You look over at him, unable to keep the smile from your face. “Say, what playlist is this, anyway?” It’s pretty dark in the car by now, but the flush on his cheeks is practically creating a glow of it’s own. You reach for his phone, but before you can grab it, he snatches it up, throwing it onto his lap.
“Nothing,” He mumbles, “I dunno.”
“Oh really?” You ask cheekily, taking advantage of a rare moment when your snarky boyfriend is flustered. As he merges onto the highway, you pull his phone away before he can react. Clicking the screen on, you see the name of the current playlist: “Y/N ❤️”
“Kei!” You squeak out, looking from the playlist to his face. He glances at you, his lower lip jutting out in a hilarious pout.
“Just put on another playlist,” He mumbles, turning his eyes back to the road. Begrudgingly, you do what he asks. The moment it starts playing, a perfectly generic pop playlist, he reaches over and slides his hand into yours. You wiggle your fingers between his, and he doesn’t pull his hand away.
“You’re cute, Kei,” You finally say with a soft giggle, giving his hand a squeeze. He huffs, but he squeezes your hand right back.

for @tobioslilgiant HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER
READ ON AO3 | READ ON TUMBLR (below)
Tsukishima generally considers himself to be, overall, not an awful person. He's not the warmest guy, as has been pointed out to him multiple times, but he doesn't go out of his way to make people's day worse either. And he has friends - and as obnoxious and annoying as they may be, like Kageyama, they're mostly good people, and terrible people do not have good people as friends, in his experience. All that to say, he's pretty sure his karma so far is mostly neutral.
So Tsukishima really, really hopes there's something good in store for him next when, after his guide has given him a quick tour of the apartment and left him alone, he opens the door to his dorm room to find Tendou fucking Satori, all pointy limbs and long red hair, standing in front of him.
"Oh ho," Tendou says as he looks up, his lips stretching into a smile that shouldn't feel so familiar to Tsukishima two years after. "I know you. Take- Tsuka-"
"Tsukishima Kei," Tukishima interrupts him.
"Yes! Karasuno's annoying middle blocker," Tendou nods without breaking eye contact. "What a coincidence. I take it you're my new roommate?"
"To my greatest displeasure," Tsukishima replies sourly.
He finally drags his suitcase inside and shuts the door. The room is barely big enough to fit the double sets of beds, desks and wardrobes, but it's redeemed by a large window through which sunlight streams in the room. Everything looks mostly clean, at least, though of course it could be just a one-time thing.
"Aw, don't say that," Tendou says as he steps aside a little to give Tsukishima enough space to advance. "I'm sure we'll be best friends soon."
"Unless your personality got better, I doubt it," Tsukishima retorts.
Tendou goes to sit on his bed, on the right side of the room, and proceeds to tie his hair up. "I'm not the one being hostile here," he points out with a grin. "And you're not an angel either."
Tsukishima turns away with a sigh and inspects his side of the room. He finds his keys on his desk, but none of them labelled.
"The big one is for the suite," Tendou tells him, his voice just next to Tsukishima's ear.
Tsukishima jumps and almost elbows Tendou in the gut - on accident, but still, he'd have been a little more happy if it had connected. Tendou doesn't pay attention to his glare and takes the keys, holding them up between them. He's so close Tsukishima can see the pale freckles on his cheeks.
"That one's for the room, this one for your closet, this one for the garbage," Tendou announces, holding the corresponding key for a second before letting it fall again. "And this one is the key to my heart," he adds, making finger guns at Tsukishima with an impish smile.
Tsukishima is silent for a handful of seconds, mouth slightly open. "What?"
Tendou snorts and throws him the keys; Tsukishima fumbles to catch them. "Kidding, it's for the basement. The guys from the other room are never there, I don't even know their names," he continues, still standing only inches away. "You don't have to worry about them. And just find the empty spaces in the cupboards and refrigerator, they're yours."
It takes a few seconds for Tsukishima to find his words. "Thanks."
"See, I've been a good senpai, now you can't say I'm awful," Tendou croons, bouncing back to his bed and grabbing a jacket that had been lying there. "I'm going out!"
Tsukishima watches him leave without a words, clutching the keys so hard that there are marks on his skin when he finally opens his hand. He shakes his head and opens his suitcase, then begins to put away his clothes, and absolutely does not think that Tendou smelled really nice.
Tendou isn't awful, thought it pains Tsukishima to admit it. He is obnoxious. He listens to music all the time, so loud Tsukishima can hear it coming from Tendou's earbuds, and his taste leaves a lot to be desired. He doesn't do the dishes very often, and it sometimes takes days before the pile of plates and bowls and glasses that grows in one part of the sink disappears. He likes the room - and entire apartment - to be pretty cold, which forces Tsukishima to wrap himself in three layers most nights, even though they're halfway through May. Tendou's side of the room is also extremely messy, and Tsukishima is pretty sure their respective spaces can be delimited following the amount of clothes on a square feet of ground.
But Tendou also always asks Tsukishima if he needs something from the corner store, and despite keeping the worst hours Tsukishima has ever seen, he rarely makes enough noise in the middle of the night to wake Tsukishima up. He does spend a lot of time trying to talk, or just coming to sit on Tsukishima's bed and poke him, but when Tsukishima stops humoring him and asks him to let him work, he usually complies, leaving him with a smile.
And it seems like the first day's cleanliness wasn't a fluke, which Tsukishima greatly appreciates.
"I lived in a dorm before," Tendou tells him when he remarks on it, on one of the rare occasions they eat together. "They'd kick our ass if we didn't keep the rooms clean."
His mouth is half-full and Tsukishima backs away an inch or two, just in case he spits too far. "There's nobody to kick your ass now, though."
"It became a habit," Tendou shrugs, wolfing down what's left of his rice. "What about you? Are you just naturally a clean freak?"
"Such a charming way to put things," Tsukishima observes, peeling his apple. "I just don't like living surrounded by garbage."
"A li'le bi' o' ga'ba' neve' hu' anyone," Tendou replies with his mouth full, pointing his chopsticks at Tsukishima.
Tendou swallows and grins at him, and Tsukishima, not for the first time, wonders if he's fucking with him or being serious. It's Tendou .
Faced with no significant reaction beyond a vaguely disgusted face, Tendou shrugs and gets up, dropping his bowl on the newly growing stack of dishes.
"We should eat together more often, it's fun," he declares, stealing half of Tsukishima's apple in passing.
Tsukishima has grown used to it. Tendou will always come steal some of his food if he sees him eating, and Tsukishima has accepted that he can't legally stab Tendou with a knife or a spoon just for that, so he lets it go with a sigh and takes the other half.
"Do your dishes!" he yells after Tendou, receiving only a grin and a wriggle of fingers in return before Tendou saunters out of the apartment.
Suddenly, he's alone again, silence his only company. Tendou had been right about their other flatmates; Tsukishima has seen one of them once, briefly, when the guy was going out as he was coming home. It's nice, to have to share the space only with Tendou, even though of course if would be nicer if he didn't have to share at all.
Mostly, it means that if Tendou is being too loud or is distracting him too much, Tsukishima can requisition the (very small) living room for himself, if he wants to be alone. Surprisingly, he doesn't get the urge that often. Sure, Tendou is obnoxious and noisy and always there , but Tsukishima - got used to it. He's gotten plenty of practice, after all, dealing with Hinata all these years, although Tendou's presence is completely different.
Tsukishima shakes his head and forces himself to stop his musings about Tendou. He's got other things to do than think about his roommate.
"I'm sick, not dying," Tsukishima insists, a week later, holding up the phone closer as he pulls the covers tighter around him.
"You're still not coming with us tonight," Yamaguchi replies on the other end. "You have to rest!"
Tsukishima rolls his eyes. "I know how to take care of myself."
"Then do that," Yamaguchi retorts . "Sleep or take a bath. Or better yet, try to spend some time with your roommate. Don't you have a thing for him?"
Tsukishima makes a choked noise, and Yamaguchi laughs at him. "Fuck off." So what if he's been talking about Tendou a lot. The guy lives with him, and is weirdly attractive, and he has a right to vent about how hard it is not to stare when Tendou changes sometimes.
"Fine, be miserable then, but be miserable in bed."
"Are you going to come here and make me soup too?"
"I trust that you'll manage that yourself."
"I'm touched by your confidence in me," Tsukishima deadpans.
Yamaguchi's laugh comes a little distorted. "I'm sure you are. Just take care of yourself, Tsukki."
Tsukishima knows a losing battle when he sees one. He sighs and looks up to the ceiling, giving himself a few seconds to accept his capitulation in the face of Yamaguchi's relentless protectiveness.
"Fine. Have fun with the hellspawns," he finally says.
"They're your friends too, remember?"
"Lies and slander. Tell them I say hi."
"I'll call you tomorrow," Yamaguchi promises before he hangs up.
Tsukishima watches his screen go dark, then sets his phone down on his nightstand, lies down more comfortably, and closes his eyes, but rather than quiet, it's Yamaguchi's words that come to him.
A thing. For Tendou. Well , like he said, Tendou is attractive, in his strange, skinny, probably-secretly-a-goblin kind of way. Tsukishima is mature enough to admit it. And Yamaguchi seriously does not get to make fun of him for his taste, because Tsukishima distinctly remembers having to suffer through his ''Kageyama may be sort of hot' phase during their second year of high school.
He kind of wants to get up and go out anyway, just to defend his taste to Yamaguchi. Maybe he should have argued with him more when he'd told him to stay home - though he rarely wins that kind of argument with Yamaguchi. And to be perfectly honest, he does feels a lot better staying in bed than he certainly would if he had to get up, and get dressed, and go out, and…
He's woken up by Tendou coming in. Tsukishima's neck hurts from his position, and his glasses are askew on his face, digging in his left cheek. The room is darker, but not by much. Tendou is humming to himself, moving in time with his little song, and Tsukishima instinctively adjusts his glasses and stares at him, transfixed.
It's not that Tendou is tense in his presence, but he's often either focused on something - most often that week's Shonen Jump - or draping himself very distractingly all over Tsukishima until he gets bored of trying to annoy him. Tsukishima has rarely had the luxury of seeing Tendou just be , like this. It feels like he's intruding, but there's also a part of him that wants to keep watching. There's something about seeing Tendou dance in such a carefree way, and Tsukishima-
Tsukishima opts for clearing his throat, possibly not the most subtle way to announce his presence, but better than feeling like a voyeur. Tendou jumps and almost falls over his chair, looking like a deer caught in headlights for a second before he spots Tsukishima.
"Oh ho," he grins, wide and vaguely unsettling. "Were you waiting for me? I'm touched."
"I'm sick," Tsukishima retorts, sliding a little further under his blanket as Tendou comes closer.
Tendou bends down as if to examine him, and Tsukishima stays still, staring back, even when their noses are only a finger apart. "Yeah, you look like death," comes the final verdict.
"Thank you, it's my new foundation," Tsukishima says, raising an unimpressed eyebrow. "Any other pertinent observations?"
Tendou's brow furrows slightly in something that looks strangely like worry. "I'm serious, man," Tendou replies, for once not snapping back. "Do you need something?"
Tsukishima sighs. It's kind of hard to keep up the snark when Tendou doesn't seem interested in replying in kind. "Just quiet."
Tendou nods and lifts his hand, almost as if to touch Tsukishima, but stops halfway and let his arm fall back to his side. He takes a step back and straightens up, or as much as it can be called straightening up with Tendou's usual slouch.
"I'll let you sleep," he says, still in a voice that sounds too normal and not enough like Tendou for Tsukishima's comfort.
Tsukishima says silent as Tendou gathers whatever he needs, and by the time Tendou has reached the door, Tsukishima has taken off his glasses and is fast asleep again.
The next time he wakes up, he's horribly thirsty. The room is completely dark, and after a few fumbling attempts before getting his hand on his phone, he realizes it's already ten. He mutters a few swears; he hadn't intended to sleep that long.
He'd also forgotten to bring water. He closes his eyes and gathers his strength, then rolls on his side until he's sitting on the edge of the bed. Even doing that is exhausting, and only the need to drink gives him enough motivation to leave his toasty warm bed and walk out of the bedroom.
The hallway looks strange, with shadows dancing on the walls in a green-tinged light, and Tsukishima understands why when he reaches the living room. Tendou is curled up on the couch, his laptop on the small table in front of him, and watching something that looks like an alien movie.
He must hear Tsukishima come in somehow, because he pauses and turns around, giving Tsukishima a slow once-over. Tsukishima shivers slightly, and he's not sure he can blame it entirely on the temperature. Tendou's eyes come back up and meet his, and Tsukishima wants to blame the strange warmth spreading in his body on being sick, but that doesn't seem fair either.
Eventually, Tsukishima manages to turn away and drag himself to the sink. Tendou still hasn't done his dishes, and Tsukishima vaguely wonders about the law of gravity and the miracles of balance when he looks at the pile of dirty plates and bowls.
He grabs a glass from his part of the cupboards and fills it, then takes small gulps, unnervingly aware that Tendou is still watching him. Now that he thinks about it, actually, Tendou watches him a lot. Tsukishima wonders what he's thinking. Back when he'd met him, in high school, for the time of a match, it had been all about guessing where to block. Is he still guessing now? What is there even to guess right now? Tsukishima is sick and tired, there isn't much more to see.
He drinks the whole glass and pours another one, which he empties faster this time. He rinses it, and it feels heavier than normal in his hands. By the time he puts it to dry on the rack, Tsukishima feels light-headed, and he takes a deep breath to try to regain some balance before going back to the bedroom, but his bed feels so far away .
"There's ramen," comes Tendou's voice, nonchalant. "I left some for you on the table."
Tsukishima frowns, but by the time he's turned his head, Tendou has gone back to his movie. The sound is low enough that it doesn't bother Tsukishima, though.
He looks at the kitchen table, and sure enough, there's a bowl covered with a plate, filled with ramen when Tsukishima takes a look. It's still hot, and when the smell reaches him he realizes he's actually quite hungry.
He takes it and goes to sit down next to Tendou. Judging from the way Tendou's eyes widen, he hadn't expected it, but he doesn't protest when Tsukishima takes the other side of the couch.
"I don't think ramen is particularly good for sick people," Tsukishima starts.
Tendou huffs and waves his hand without looking at Tsukishima. "If you don't like it, you can throw it away. You're gonna have to pay me back anyway, though," he adds with a little self-satisfied smile. "I'm giving you some of my food, here. I'm being super generous."
His eyes don't stray from the screen, and Tsukishima shrugs, not bothering to point out the concept of generosity doesn't usually involve repayment. He figures he's not really in a position to complain anyway, unless Tendou poisoned the ramen, and even then, considering he's feeling like death already, he's not sure he would see the difference.
Tendou's movie ends and he puts on another right away. Tsukishima hasn't paid enough attention to know if it's a sequel to the first one or a different kind entirely, too focused on eating. He finishes the ramen about fifteen minutes in the second movie, but his limbs feel way too heavy to get up again. He opts for setting down the bowl on the table, next to Tendou's laptop, then curling up at his end of the couch, hugging his knees as he squints to try to watch Tendou's movie.
"I don't bite, you know," Tendou declares after a minute.
Tsukishima glances at him. He's not looking at the screen anymore; he's looking at Tsukishima again, his eyes almost too wide and shining in the dark.
For once, when Tsukishima stares back, there's no challenge to be found.
"What's that supposed to mean?" he mumbles, rubbing his eyes.
Tendou sighs with his whole body, shoulders sagging and legs flopping down. "It means you can be miserable in your corner or you can come closer," he says, spreading his arms in invitation.
Tsukishima frowns as he tries to makes out Tendou's expression, but without glasses and in the dark, he's impossible to read. "You do realize I might be contagious?"
"Duh," Tendou replies with unexpected glee. "Why do you think I'm offering? I'm desperate for a reason to skip, dude."
"Like you need a reason," Tsukishima retorts, unfolding his legs and arms to move closer to Tendou.
He goes slowly, and Tendou loses patience after five seconds, taking his shoulders and tugging him closer, until Tsukishima is basically lying against Tendou's chest and between his legs. It's more comfortable than he'd have expected, and it's warm, and Tendou smells like his strange fruity soap. Tsukishima settles, too tired to care that he's basically cuddling with Tendou with only minimal complaint. It's something to be examined by future him, who will be awake and in full possession of his faculties, and not distracted by Tendou's arm around him.
Okay, fuck. He might have more than a thing for Tendou.
He's asleep before he can care.
Tsukishima wakes up to the sound of something falling and breaking and Tendou cursing loudly. It takes him a moment to understand why he's not in his bed, and another more to remember the night before.
He rolls around and sits up, sore from spending the night on the couch, only to find that he's covered by Tendou's oversized hoodie. He glances at Tendou over the couch to check, and sure enough, Tendou is only wearing a thin T-shirt. He's taking apart his pile of dishes, which is probably what made the noise that woke Tsukishima up.
Tsukishima has to resist the urge to lie back down and pretend to sleep for a few hours more, but if anything, volleyball has taught him that running away doesn't work out. He stretches, grimacing at the dull pain in his muscles, then shrugs on Tendou's hoodie, because it's always ungodly cold in the flat - at this point, Tsukishima suspects witchcraft. Plus, he figures that after caving in and admitting that he has a thing for Tendou, he gets to indulge a little.
He gets up and thinks a little bit too late that maybe he should have tried to brush his hair a little. Tendou turns his head and, after half a second of strange hesitation when he spots his hoodie on Tsukishima, flashes him a smile before going back to scrubbing a bowl.
"Finally! Thought you'd turned into Sleeping Beauty and you'd never wake up."
Tsukishima figures words can wait until after coffee.
Tendou chatters happily about the Disney version of Sleeping Beauty, then about movies he's seen. Tsukishima nods here and there, relieved that Tendou doesn't expect more from him as he waits for his coffee to be ready. None of their conversations have ever happened before Tsukishima has gotten his first dose of energy for the day.
Tsukishima sits down with his mug at the kitchen table and busies himself with watching Tendou. It's strange, to do that after having admitted to himself that he seriously wants to touch him more. And possibly - definitely kiss him, too.
"Any plans for today, or are you just gonna lie in bed all day again?" Tendou asks. "Because I'd rather know beforehand this time."
Tsukishima shrugs. "Taking a shower, then we'll see."
"If you have as much energy as yesterday, good luck with that," Tendou snorts. "I didn't even think you were gonna be able to walk, when you came out last night. I was ready to call 119."
Tsukishima taps against the rim of his mug once, twice, then replies. "If you're so worried, you can always come in the shower with me."
"Oh ho, are you flirting with me?" Tendou asks, twisting his waist just so he can waggle his eyebrows at Tsukishima.
It's not the first time he's asked, and every other time, Tsukishima has shut him down, and they went on with their conversation. But, well. Every other time, Tsukishima wasn't flirting.
"Yeah, I am. Why, aren't you?" he says, taking a sip of his coffee without breaking eye contact.
Tendou's eyebrows climb up his forehead, and he almost lets the last plate he'd been washing fall down. He gapes for a handful of seconds before finding his words.
"Yeah. Have been for the past two months," he admits. "Thanks for noticing."
And - okay, in retrospect, maybe Tsukishima could have seen this coming since day one.
"Good," he replies, because he doesn't anything else to say.
Tendou dries his hand and leans against the counter, smiling mockingly. "'Good'? That's all? I'd have expected more of a reaction."
"I'm sick and still drinking my coffee," Tsukishima points out sourly. "I'm not giving you a grand declaration."
"Aw, I'm disappointed, Tsukki. I can call you Tsukki without you threatening to hit me now, right?"
"Wouldn't you miss it if I stopped telling you to shut up?"
"So romantic," Tendou whispers, joining his hands in a show of awe. "I'm swooning."
"See, why should I put in more effort?" Tsukishima deadpans, feeling the corner of his mouth tug up.
"Cause I can make your life a living hell if you don't treat me well," Tendou reminds him, gesturing proudly at himself.
"Oh, and that's romantic?"
"Depends if you want it to be," Tendou retorts.
