my favorite “zepotha will never have the goncharov rizz” moment so far has been seeing the google doc that someone made. goncharov’s is like 50 pages of information that’s just copy pasted from people adding; it came late in the game just to make sure new people could engage in the meme.
zepotha’s doc was one of the first piece of content that came out and everyone tried to use it to write their own story. it got shut down within 2 hours because it was so messy, and the only consistent character is alaina (whose name was spelled differently at least six times). everyone wants to be right, no one wants to succumb to the bit.

Guys, People on Tiktok have beef with John Green. Now they're even stealing how we forced John Green off the site. (He must be so tired, he's the reason YouTube is popular but he can't stay on any other popular site without people having unnecessary beef with him)

The worst part is finding people on tiktok that I knew from tumblr cause like, by tumblr standards, we were friends, but like how do you bring that up off of this hellsite? "Hi, I remember when you came out as bisexual, I drew you a picture" or like "I think u wrote a story about fictional characters getting blowjobs that I told you I really liked; was that you?"

The real difference between tumblr and twitter & tiktok is that if you try to explain a popular meme from twitter or tiktok to someone who isn't on the app, you ultimately just have to show them a few screenshots and as long as they have a general knowledge of mainstream meme culture from the past 7 years or so they should be fine.
But you try showing a tumblr meme to someone not on this site? You have to do a powerpoint presentation on the fandom culture of a media that came out over 10 years ago, a random historic event, something that happened in politics in the past 5 years, the idiosyncrasies of a British person who has a niche following, the history of tumblr policies and updates (as well the general attitude and culture of being on tumblr and its progression since 2010), some classic literary reference, and a brief primer of every significant post and meme from tumblr from the past few years. And then 9 times out 10 it ends with "well we just all thought it was kinda funny" and the other person goes "but why?" And you just have to shrug at that point because this site is a never ending fever dream

So I've been getting a lot of posts on my fyp about Goncharov and Zepotha and personally I think Zepotha as a name sounds more like a fantasy? Horror/Slasher film? Really? I thought Goncharov was like a real film and I think it's kind of sweet how everyone is defending it against haters or whatever

I could never get the same amount of satisfaction from making a popular tiktok as I do getting 20 hearts on Tumblr I said what I said

it's interesting that different social media sites curate to different aspects of my identity. tumblr is so intrinsically queer, but tiktok (sorry for mentioning that hellsite on this one) has so much more black-centric content that is more easily seen.

Tumblr tags
Like its funny like on fanfic sites and even other social media sites, when there's alooooot of tags I'm already getting a bad vibe on the post and would barely bother skimming through it.
BUT WHEN THERE'S ALOT OF TUMBLR TAGS
IT'S JUST AMAZING ADDITION TO THE POST 99% OF THE TIME.
Like I'm ready to get into it like its a mini bonus post like in those games where you can get a bit more points.

convinced no one on tiktok has human empathy because i’ve seen so many comments on zepotha videos begging people to explain if it’s real. there’s no tagging system, no notice. kids are legitimately advocating for the creator to destroy the original post, and responding to confused individuals with stuff like “i can’t believe you’d disrespect zepotha like that it’s literally my favorite.” there’s a lot of reasons people don’t engage in unreality, but tiktok users simply don’t care - they just want to continue to confuse and condemn others who aren’t in on the joke.

One of my favorite things about tumblr is that if I don't have the bandwidth to read a discourse post I can scroll and know it will still be there later. With tiktok I feel like I have to stop and listen bc it will be gone forever if I scroll or accidentally hit a button that refreshes the page. Yes, I can save a tiktok video and a tumblr post but I am as unlikely to go back for a video I saved on tiktok as I am a post on tumblr. BUT, I will see that same post on tumblr for at least a day or two before there's enough content on my dashboard to lose it to the ether. The information intake ratio is a lot better here too.

I hate leftist tiktok because EVERYONE'S ALWAYS YELLING AT ME. I don't mean I commented and people are upset about what I said, I mean in the videos they're always yelling and catastrifizing LITERALLY EVERYTHING. It's extremely stressful. It kind of fucking sucks.

How does tumblr feel about TikTok? Is it taboo to even ask that question?

My friend expects me to watch all the damn tiktoks she shares with me. And I do, even though I vocally hate the platform, because I'm a good friend.
I shared a Tumblr link to something she is a fan of AND SHE DIDN'T CLICK THE LINK! She went to TikTok instead bc she was confused. Like, bitch! I know you don't like Tumblr but damn!
She also didn't share that Selena Gomez had a tiktok about a show we both really much enjoy, that I found out about through here. I don't understand her AT ALL!
