"The filmmaker, through carefully planned shots and sequences, which are treated like paintings, and the poetry of his writing, pays an homage to the splendour of Arab culture."
Wanderers of the Desert (1984) Directed by Nacer Khemir
This was commissioned by @uv.groovy (on insta) and is based on their trans-masculinity as well as their cultural connection to the traditions of Tunisian Jewish Women- Specifically weddings, and matriarchal tattoos.
Some Trans Masc people, including myself, have a deep connection to what is convention for women in their cultural background, being trans in some cases means forfeiting them, or experiencing them 'unconventionally'. To me, I'm proud of living authentically, I also hold the traditions of Jewish women in reverence and will always find them sacred.
