Okay so I know this is the blurriest photo but hear me out, I have a Story.
So, 2012. October. I move into my new home here at Longfeather Lane. I haven’t build the coops yet, I have a barn pen where the peafowl are staying and a plastic garden shed where the chickens and Joslin are staying. We are going to be building coops in the spring.
Spring 2013 rolls around, and I get a few turkeys that will later be for thanksgiving. They grow up in the plastic shed with Joslin, and mostly stay in my fenced yard. They got out once and went to my next-door neighbor’s house to investigate her songbird feeders. My neighbor is this cranky old lady, and she calls the cops on me even though she has my number and could have rang me to say hey, your birds got out come collect them, which I would have done. So now I have a police officer knocking on my door and telling me that I need to keep my birds penned, as if I had designed for them to get out and go bother the neighbor.
Fast forward to October, 2019. I have begun feeding the local 6-crow murder that took up residence in my yard, and the feeding HAPPENS to one day attract a large flock of wild turkeys. This flock is a good 15-20 birds, half of which are babies that are nearly adults. So, obviously, winter is coming and the Good Person thing to do is to add more turkey-friendly foods to what I’m tossing out for the crows, and if the turkeys happen to come back and eat it, well.
Since I have started putting out food, my house is now a daily stop for these birds, which is greatly pleasing to me because I love seeing them. But I’m also juuuuust petty enough to delight in the fact that these wild, native birds, who are in no way my responsibility and cannot legally BE penned, have now discovered my neighbor’s songbird feeders.
God that’s good. Look at them. What good birds.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN TURKEY RIGHT NOW AND HOW YOU CAN HELP
tw death, tw murder, tw femicide
The Istanbul Convention was adopted to prevent violence against women and domestic violence, which has been an ongoing issue in Turkey for years. However, this law protecting women has not been implemented properly and it is now completely abolished.
While the government is taking away our right to live from us overnight in the women's history month; women are being killed, tortured, and their murders are being covered up. 78 women were murdered by men in the first 78 days of 2021.
If you are not aware of the contents of the Istanbul Convention please continue reading. Because the rights given to women by law are vital for all women;
● Placement of women and children in a shelter
● Providing temporary protection in cases where life is threatened
● Removing the person who showed violence from the house and preventing them from approaching the woman’s addresses such as housing, school, workplace
● Preventing the attacker from contacting the woman via communication tools such as telephone, mail, social media,
● Hiding the address of the woman who has been subjected to violence in order not to be seen by any institution
● Change of workplace can be requested
● The violator to surrender his gun to the police (even if he is serving as a police and gendarmerie)
● Temporary financial assistance
● Temporary custody and child support
