Sweet fluff that twists into a horror genre? Enough. Give me a movie that hits the ground running with overwhelming gut-churning horror and suspense, only to slowly present quirky curiosities and the twist is that the terrible bloodthirsty creature actually just wanted to make friends but was really super awkward about it

#the whole thing starts gritty dystopian sepia wash but slowly shifts until it's soft warm vibrant colors at the end #i take the horror and i flip it turnways #anyway then the characters and the monster all kiss and have a picnic and hold hands

like im thinking about how that one time it got pointed out that rose is considered “fashionable” when she literally put on a goth nightgown and tied a scarf around it. and dave is considered “messy/undignified” when hes the guy who immediately alchemized like 5 different suits and worse them all even though it was sweltering.

and then im comparing that to how rosemary are always getting portrayed as ‘refined dignified lesbian moms’ when kanaya is the awkwardest character in the whole comic, wore her pajamas to her first date; and rose got blackout drunk from nerves over that very event (and yet dave was still the one who had to tell her it was even a date). rose kissed kanaya for the first time and immediately fell down a flight of stairs.

meanwhile davekat take years to get their shit together, but once they do they HAVE it together, theyre both comfortable and sweet with each other, and dave takes the first fucking opportunity to give john a whole spiel on his thoughts about comphet and heteronormativity. for fucks sake, karkat vantas is the universe’s biggest romance buff. he’s obsessed with traditional dates and love stories. what about that screams “oh theyre the absolute opposite of rosemary, instead of being refined and dignified they fight over pizza and throw chips at each other”.

like im not saying they DONT fight over pizza! im sure they DO because they think it’s funny and they also hate each others guts! and im not saying rosemary DONT do each others makeup or outfits.

im just saying like... we should get rid of the idea that rosemary are smart or dignified and ‘know what theyre doing’. rose played pretend at therapist the same way dave played pretend at being an internet coolguy. theyre both just actually idiots irl. and if anyone is gonna give your fave the gay talk it would be one of the striders, not rose. rose will just make fun of you for your gayness without being helpful in the slightest.

When it comes to criticisms of the alpha trolls existence in the comic im of 2 minds.

On the one hand there is a joke to be made about the "alpha" trolls being less fleshed out and less interesting than the "beta" trolls. And also I don't think a lot of people didn't get that the beta trolls were also parodies of various internet communities and the alpha trolls being that is just a continuation of that but just more obvious.

And on the other hand this is what the world would look like if the alpha trolls were collectively written better or we only had to focus on the relevant ones

People sometimes try to picture "the opposite of Touhou" and come up with, like, a bullet-hell shooter where all the characters are boys, which is a problem for two reasons:

Boys are not the opposite of girls; and

At this point Touhou is barely a bullet-hell shooter franchise anyway; like, yeah, that's the foundation of it, but let's be real, a huge chunk of the fandom only ever engages with the supplementary media and has never helled a bullet in their lives.

If we really want to flip it turnways, it's not sufficient to invert the gameplay or the aesthetic trappings; there needs to be an ideological inversion of some description as well.

Basically, what I'm saying is that the opposite of Touhou is Death Stranding.

anyways he had an E-mu SP-1200 which is a really oldschool sampler invented by dave rossum in the late 80s

revolutionary to the hip hop scene

nosdam had this mega distinct sound to his music that i always wanted to replicate on my own beats

i dont know for sure if he used it on T.I.M.E. but he uses some of the same samples from "vol. 9" which was exclusively SP-1200 so im gonna get a lil j’accuzi on that
