Next for the bratty bully siblings, it's Turtlecrawl

You can find the reverse side of her design here.

Turtlecrawl has no physical description given other than her pattern, so I came up with my own for her. I made her smaller than her brother, and not quite as lithe. I used this image as a reference. Her few scars are from the battle against the impostor.

For her pattern, Turtlecrawl is described as a tortoiseshell she-cat. I played with her pattern a lot before settling on a chocolate tortie look. It makes her look more like her brother, since she has similar shades of reddish-brown in there, and she also has brown turtle-shell shaped splotches on her back, which works well for her name. She has no canon eye color, so I gave her her mom's green eyes.

Overall, I'm really happy with how she turned out. ^^

Turtlecrawl glances admirably at Rootspring when he is named a Light in the Mist.

In the latter half of the broken code turtlecrawl seems to be get closer to rootspring (just like Sandstorm did with fireheart)

And there are so many parallels between FireSand and TurtleRoot

For anyone curious who was living with the elders:

Nutwhisker and Rowanberry - Left after Yellowfang was exiled because they felt it was unfair and did not wish to serve under a cat who refused to listen to reason.

Cinderfur - Tired of the constant battles and hostility

Flintfang, Turtlepaw and Littlepaw - Flintfang was tired of kit apprentices and managed to get two of them out, all the other apprentices refused to leave though

Fernshade - Lashed out at Blackfoot for not not caring about his family and he told her to go join the elders if she was so upset about it

Dawncloud and Tallpoppy - Sought shelter with the elders to hide their kits so they wouldn't have to become apprentices too early. Dawncloud's kits are still young that they were still safe but she couldn't bare the stress of keeping them close to Brokenstar.

Brightflower - Once she calmed down from her grief over the loss of her kits and realizing all three of her kits were now considered in exile, she sought out the elders to apologize to Rowanberry and Nutwhisker and just never went back. She decided to try and make amends with her remaining kits.

Note: they did not leave in the order presented, this is just a list of the cats who left and their reasoning behind it. There are also plenty of cats who considered joining the elders but decided against it for one reason or another.

Cougardawn - medic of GoreClan. lonesome. due to Daisyhollow’s aforementioned constant injuries, as well as a few other cats who we’ll get to soon, poor Cougardawn has been overworked these past few moons. i imagine he is very tired. he wears laurel now, which i put around his wrist like a bracelet

Leafwhisker - warrior of GoreClan. fierce. in a shocking turn of events, Leafwhisker and Splashheart became mates. i drew them looking like a cute couple here but i checked their relationship right before i posted and turns out they hate each other so uh. impending divorce ig

Splashheart - warrior of GoreClan. bloodthirsty. got together with Leafwhisker and got into a whole bunch of fights with rogues. ended up gaining a scar from one of these fights

Weaselbloom - warrior of GoreClan. shameless. she’s a warrior now! and she immediately became extremely pathetic and rude. said something rude to Roachstar’s face. also tripped over a rock and sprained her ankle in front of Braveclaw, who she has a bit of a crush on

Braveclaw - warrior of GoreClan. charismatic. she also graduated! for some unknown reason she is captivated by Weaselbloom’s swagless look and cringefail demeanor, like she has a massive crush on her

Thymepaw - apprentice of GoreClan. fierce. got apprenticed to Weaselbloom. has been doing extremely well in training and seems to be gaining a lot of confidence and skill. started wearing a moth wing. has a crush on Wolfpaw

Bristlepaw - apprentice of GoreClan. adventurous. got apprenticed to Braveclaw. will not stop misbehaving and breaking the code. has hunted on another clans territory on literally every hunting patrol

i do actually! i have some various clangen art that i drew just for myself/friends, and a couple drawings of jayfeather that i made for an au. here are my favs :D (under the cut because i realized there's actually a lot)

also realized I put all these drawings in reverse chronological order to me drawing them. so the stuff on top looks the most like what my art style is like now, and it slowly devolves lol

that's the end of the jayfeather au, here's clangen. this is Bonepelt and Cranekit, they were besties :D

Any plans for Rootspring? Poor dude didn't get a distinct personality once he became a warrior....

I won't lie, nothing is super duper set-in-stone at the moment, since I'm still only now giving TBC a proper read instead of a skim.

And I... Don't like Rootpaw. Don't get me wrong, I think he is adorable, physically. I know he is supposed to be fluffy but I still love Scrawny Toothpick Rootspring.

I also like that, so far (mid-book 2) his friendship with Shadowsight feels... Pretty natural. I also love Needlepaw but I know she develops "Warrior Cats Protagonist Sister" disease and the writers use her to be mean to her brother....

Also he is horrible to his father. No matter your feelings on Tree, Rootpaw is nasty towards his dad.

So, WCR!Rootspring has a few changes so far that I would love to know you guys' thoughts on.

He gets to pick his name, technically.

Rootpaw, braving all his nerves about talking to Leafstar, climbs up to her den one day and asks if he can be named after Dewspring. He and Dewspring are quite close, Dewspring also has a good reputation, despite his youth. He is going to be Head Of Construction one day, like Sandynose was. Rootspring wants to be like the big tough hero that hunts day and night for building materials so that everyone can be comfortable during the leafbare.

He may not be getting together with Bristlefrost.

I've said this one before, the point still stands. As of now BristleRoot is hanging in the balance. It could be BristleNeedle instead. She still saves him, and this makes him want to help her and give her some food because... That's what friends do. Right?

This could be a properly developed friendship that only evolves into romance just before tragedy strikes, before Bristlefrost disappears. He never got the chance to say "I love you". He was her comfort while she was pigeonholed into Thunderclan's unwilling Deputy. She got to sneak out to meet with him in-between being used by Bramblefake and trying to maintain her friendships within Thunderclan.

He is a jack-of-all-trades, master of none.

The thing he is probably best at is Glyphs, as WCR!Needleclaw is deaf, and that is how she communicates best. He likes some crafting, such as woodwork, pelt working, and construction. Foraging isn't featured as much during to the time TBC takes place in, but he is on Foraging patrols during ASC. He wants to put his toes into each pool, for fun.

His insecurities are now going to make some sense

Tree having been a loner makes Rootpaw and Needlepaw subject to bullying. Where Needlepaw just rolls her eyes and shrugs it off, "I'm glad I can't hear them. They've got nothing worth listening to.", Rootpaw feels a lot more effected by them. Kite and Turtle get better, especially when he helps Turtlepaw out with her assessment during The Silent Thaw.

He and Bristlefrost are getting ripped out of the Erin's hands, they can stay protags but I'm gonna be making them much more interesting now.
